- 0:04hey folks this video with TS and today
- 0:07I'll show you how to save hundreds of
- 0:08Dos on professional tinting by doing a
- 0:11doityourself window tint uh on the Tesla
- 0:14Model 3 now we have the highlength here
- 0:17but it's the same uh on the previous
- 0:20generation model 3 uh the differences
- 0:22are tiny and it's the same principle on
- 0:25the model y as well so before we
- 0:28begin uh let me just speak a little bit
- 0:31about what you're getting other than the
- 0:32th cutouts that are cut to fit perfectly
- 0:35and be easy to install uh you're also
- 0:38getting a rubber squeegee and a plastic
- 0:40one and you will need your own spray
- 0:43bottle that you want to fill up uh with
- 0:46the liquid soap and water I mix them in
- 0:48about 11 15 ratio uh but you basically
- 0:51need this to be really soapy for this to
- 0:54work easily now the first step of the
- 0:57installation will be to pop the window
- 0:59open
- 1:00which I'll do using the plastic squeegee
- 1:02uh you basically want to move this hinge
- 1:06here so the window pops open and be very
- 1:10careful to not close the door once the
- 1:12window is open because if you close it
- 1:14it may break it will uh scratch the
- 1:17stream here so just be careful about
- 1:20that now the next step would be to use
- 1:23my soapy
- 1:24solution to clean this
- 1:33and if you want if you want to uh avoid
- 1:36getting this wet although nothing
- 1:38happens if you get it wet you can put a
- 1:40trash bag uh a plastic trash bag here uh
- 1:43you can hold it with paper tape it works
- 1:47great but
- 1:49again it's not much water nothing really
- 1:53happens you can just wipe it after up to
- 1:55you now that this is clean uh I will
- 1:59spray my tint I put it on the on the
- 2:01trunk I'll spray the tint on top I'll
- 2:04lift it up spray the adhesive side and
- 2:06then I'll transfer it
- 2:09here and notice that there will be the
- 2:11letters P and D indicating passenger and
- 2:14Driver
- 2:22sides just before I put the tint I'll
- 2:24spray again
- 2:31and
- 2:32then let's apply the
- 2:39tin now I'll use my plastic squidy to C
- 2:43it in
- 2:44here and run your finger on top you
- 2:46don't want to be picking on the T so if
- 2:49you are somewhere like here you want to
- 2:52lower it a little
- 2:54bit if you do end up posting Style with
- 2:58the tint
- 3:01showing uh past the edge you can use a
- 3:04utility knife run back to knife just run
- 3:07it to the edge to trim it pretty easy
- 3:11but if you position it properly now you
- 3:14generally don't need this because as you
- 3:17can
- 3:17see we cut
- 3:19this in the right
- 3:22shape okay now all that is left is to
- 3:25remove this water I will spray the tint
- 3:27on top so that more
- 3:31slippery and I will
- 3:34start here in the
- 3:51middle okay now that initial part of the
- 3:54squeeing is done I'll continue first
- 3:57with the felt uh side of the plastic IGI
- 4:00to take out more
- 4:12water and then I don't know if that's
- 4:14visible on the video but I get some
- 4:17fingers fingers are where when the the
- 4:20film dips up a little bit in like a thin
- 4:25long line kind of like a finger and I'm
- 4:29getting a few of this here that's quite
- 4:30normal this is because of the curvature
- 4:32of the film so now I'll use the plastic
- 4:35part of the squeegee to push them and I
- 4:39might keep getting them for a little bit
- 4:41while the film is um drying uh you have
- 4:44a few options here if you want to take
- 4:46care of this right away uh just grab a
- 4:49heat gun or a hair dryer warm it up a
- 4:51little bit and that will do it um or uh
- 4:56what I prefer to do I think it's uh
- 4:58generally safer and
- 5:01easier is that I'll just move on to the
- 5:03other side and when I'm done with the
- 5:05other I'll come back to this and I'll
- 5:07push them uh this will give it a little
- 5:10time to dry up and drain the water uh so
- 5:12that fum can properly stick here but as
- 5:16you can see going with a plastic part of
- 5:19the squeegee repeatedly and applying a
- 5:23decent amount of pressure here uh it
- 5:26takes care of them I I started with
- 5:28three I think
- 5:30and actually right now I'm down to okay
- 5:32down to one
- 5:35so just push it it will eventually stick
- 5:40even on these
- 5:42curves but again if you want to expedite
- 5:45this and don't want to wait uh you can
- 5:48just use a key gun or a hair dryer it do
- 5:50just fine and that's pretty much it the
- 5:54rear windows are the same uh the the big
- 5:58the the door one uh is literally the
- 6:00same uh installation technique and the
- 6:03small quter panel just spray the film
- 6:06spray the the window apply with and
- 6:10you're done and uh I think yeah all the
- 6:14fingers are
- 6:16gone yeah that's pretty much it and this
- 6:19is a very easy and great way to save
- 6:22hundreds of
- 6:23dollars uh from going to the shop you
- 6:26can just do it yourself at home and
- 6:29again if a finger pops up just push it
- 6:33keep checking the installation for like
- 6:35an hour um after the installation so
- 6:39that if there are any issues like this
- 6:41like the fingers you can just push it at
- 6:43some point as I said it will stick it
- 6:45just needs to be dryer it also depends
- 6:47on the weather by the way right now it's
- 6:49really cold it's winter time here um and
- 6:53cold weather makes this more difficult
- 6:54but even in in winter time you can see
- 6:57it didn't take that much effort do this
- 7:00and in summer it's going to be a lot
- 7:02[Music]
- 7:06easier when you're done just wipe your
- 7:09surfaces so that they're clean as you
- 7:11can see it's back to normal and don't
- 7:15forget press the door open
- 7:17button to lower back your window before
- 7:20you can safe close the door thanks for
- 7:23watching
