- 0:0830 seconds. Did you ever think you would
- 0:11make it?
- 0:12I feel I'm so close I can taste sweet
- 0:14victory. I know this life meant for me.
- 0:19Yeah. Why would you bet on Goliath when
- 0:21we got better David? Now you can make
- 0:23giving values contagious. This world of
- 0:24entrepreneurs, we give no value to
- 0:26haters. Now they running homie. Look
- 0:28what I've become.
- 0:34Okay, so episode 371 today with the
- 0:37great Gina Carano. Now before I, you
- 0:40know, I want to kind of go through the
- 0:41background and and
- 0:43you know, a few things that she's done.
- 0:45If you remember the work that she's
- 0:47done. She's been in a lot of movies.
- 0:48Fast and the Furious 6, Deadpool, The
- 0:51Mandalorian 2019, 2020. She was about to
- 0:54do her own series afterwards. There was
- 0:56a bit of a fallen out with her and
- 0:59Disney. I mean, you know, I want to know
- 1:00how dinner went last night with Kathleen
- 1:02Kennedy and Bob Iger. I heard you guys
- 1:03had dinner last night, which is great.
- 1:06And and before that she was a fighter,
- 1:09okay? And not just a regular fighter.
- 1:12Ronda Rousey said her inspiration to
- 1:14become a UFC fighter was Gina Carano.
- 1:16And by the way, her father was a
- 1:18quarterback for the Cowboys. Seven
- 1:19seasons apparently. I don't even know
- 1:21that. I'm like, that's pretty wild,
- 1:22right? With the right right genes are in
- 1:25there. And she doesn't do well with
- 1:27bullying. She she doesn't like it when
- 1:31you try to force her to do something,
- 1:32specifically if the company's name is
- 1:34called Disney. She has a hard time with
- 1:36that. So if you if you try to bully her,
- 1:38won't work out in your favor. And aside
- 1:40from that, you know, we we we were going
- 1:43to have Adam on. Adam was so worried
- 1:45about today's podcast that he was
- 1:47shivering. He told the Uber to turn
- 1:48around. Never left Miami. Said I'm not
- 1:50going to be able to do this. So
- 1:52it's great to have you on. Thank you for
- 1:54having me. Thank you.
- 1:55So how was dinner last night with Bob
- 1:56Iger and Kathy?
- 1:58We figured everything out and the world
- 1:59is set straight.
- 2:00Really? What you guys talking about? How
- 2:01was it? Um me taking over.
- 2:06Before people start tweeting, there was
- 2:08no dinner. That's a joke, by the way,
- 2:10for people that are maybe uh No, no. I'm
- 2:12taking over. Yeah, that that part that
- 2:14part is a different story. Yeah, so I
- 2:16endorse that part. So, you know, look, I
- 2:18mean, all of us we've been following
- 2:19your story uh for a while, you know, we
- 2:22we know you, we've seen you in movies,
- 2:24we've seen you
- 2:25fighting, we've seen you
- 2:27you know, going through what you went
- 2:28through with Disney. I think when was
- 2:30it? 21 when they made a decision to go a
- 2:33different direction. Can you kind of
- 2:34walk us through, you know,
- 2:37what happened with Disney recently, the
- 2:39last 3-4 years? And today I read that
- 2:42Musk wants to help you out on the legal
- 2:44side. Kind of walk us through what's
- 2:46been going on lately. Um do you want
- 2:48lately as in the version from where Musk
- 2:51came in? Go in from everything's going
- 2:54great with Disney. Fired.
- 2:56a sudden, fired. Yes, go from there.
- 2:58Who fired? Um it was going great.
- 3:01Um I
- 3:03I was never political. Um I think that
- 3:06uh certain people in certain times of
- 3:09their life find themselves finally
- 3:11having opinions on things. So, before
- 3:14I'd always thought, you know, I pay my
- 3:15taxes, I do what I got to do. Um I've
- 3:19met a couple politicians and they seemed
- 3:21kind of gross. And so, I was like never
- 3:24into political
- 3:26um it wasn't like I want to go find a
- 3:27politician husband someday, you know,
- 3:29like cuz that wasn't my style. So, I
- 3:31just kind of stayed out of it. Um and
- 3:33then I started noticing things around
- 3:362020 that were um
- 3:38concerning, like everybody did. I feel
- 3:40like I'm like the
- 3:42the average person who is just waking up
- 3:44to um
- 3:46what is actually happening in the world
- 3:48in 2020.
- 3:49Um
- 3:50And so, I started expressing certain you
- 3:53know, concerns about um
- 3:55well, first of all, like when the
- 3:56pandemic hit, I was like, "Oh my gosh."
- 3:59Like I was thinking everybody's going to
- 4:00turn green and boils were going to start
- 4:01happening and we're all just going to
- 4:02start uh falling, you know, dead. And
- 4:06then um
- 4:07you know, and I was really nervous for
- 4:09the this 3 weeks and then I started
- 4:11noticing, "Okay, but wait, it's okay for
- 4:13a protest and it's okay, you know, to be
- 4:15that close to a cop and screaming and
- 4:18spitting in their face.
- 4:20And we're not worried about COVID then,
- 4:22but we're worried about, you know,
- 4:23people going to churches or we're
- 4:24worried about these smaller businesses.
- 4:28Uh
- 4:28meanwhile, the bigger businesses are
- 4:30being kept open. And so it really just
- 4:33bothered me. And so I'd start I started
- 4:35vocalizing those kinds of things. Gina,
- 4:37at the time, are is that happening
- 4:39because of a guy you're with, friends
- 4:42you're talking to, friends in Hollywood
- 4:44that are behind closed doors saying,
- 4:46"What the F is going on? What is this
- 4:47all about? It's kind of weird." Is it
- 4:49because of a person you heard speak?
- 4:51What inspired you to be a little bit
- 4:53more vocal? Was there any individual
- 4:55involved in that inspiration? No, I was
- 4:59just I had gotten wrapped season 2 of
- 5:02The Mandalorian. I think it was around
- 5:04March 2020.
- 5:06And I had time on my hands.
- 5:07Wow, that's the peak. That's when it
- 5:08started, by the way. March 14th. That
- 5:10was the NBA day. That's right. NHL, NBA,
- 5:13we were in LA. We're going to do board
- 5:15meeting and all of a sudden, boom, board
- 5:17is canceled. No one's showing up and we
- 5:18have to fly back to Dallas. Yeah, I
- 5:20think we wrapped uh season 2 of The
- 5:22Mandalorian uh March 20th or March 4th
- 5:26or 5th, 2020.
- 5:27before, wow.
- 5:28And then I just started like looking up,
- 5:29you know, online and I started doing my
- 5:31own research and I started just kind of,
- 5:33you know,
- 5:35trying to develop my own opinions. Like
- 5:37I don't keep a lot of people around me.
- 5:38I have my family and my family's very um
- 5:41non-political. Like you know, talking
- 5:42about politics in my family is um
- 5:45not something I grew up with at all
- 5:47because we're in the service industry in
- 5:49my family and so it's about, you know,
- 5:51you you let anybody, you know, come to
- 5:53the table and just, you know, believe
- 5:55what they believe and Wasn't your dad
- 5:57like a executive at a casino? What did
- 5:59he do at a casino? What was his uh Yeah,
- 6:00we uh we're in the After football. Yeah,
- 6:02we're in the casino business. We I I say
- 6:05my family is in the casino business.
- 6:06Got it. Okay, so And they keep they keep
- 6:08their, you know, beliefs to themselves
- 6:10and they have never
- 6:12I mean, I I wouldn't even be able to
- 6:13tell you who is like a Democrat or
- 6:15Republican or independent in my family
- 6:17because we just don't talk about it.
- 6:19It's um, you know, if you're in a
- 6:20service industry
- 6:22you're having people come from all over
- 6:23the world. So, you know, like that's
- 6:25what you keep off the table.
- 6:27What was the And while you were in
- 6:29Hollywood doing movies and you're
- 6:31around, you know, a lot of people that
- 6:33you're doing all these movies, were you
- 6:34starting to see any signs of weird
- 6:36things going on or was it sudden in
- 6:38March of 2020 that everything got kind
- 6:40of weird?
- 6:41It was sudden. I wasn't paying
- 6:42attention. I
- 6:44you know, I was so focused on building a
- 6:47career and having come from professional
- 6:49fighting uh when I started in 2021,
- 6:52you're just like constantly trying to
- 6:54keep working, constantly trying to get
- 6:56that next job and, you know, being on a
- 6:58series of Mandalorian and actually
- 6:59getting the second one and, you know,
- 7:00having a show. That was that's like
- 7:03that's peak because then you can start
- 7:05doing stuff that you really really want
- 7:07to do.
- 7:08So, I it was very sudden for me. When
- 7:09you when you went vocal and and like
- 7:12when was the first time the world Was
- 7:13there a tweet? What was it that you
- 7:16said, "Yeah, that I know you said some
- 7:18things about BLM. I know you said some
- 7:19things about a few different things."
- 7:21What was the first thing you said that
- 7:23got the world to say, "Wait a minute.
- 7:25What kind of a position is she taking
- 7:26here?" Well, I mean, I was, you know,
- 7:28when I saw the George the for Floyd
- 7:30thing happen, you know, I did do the
- 7:31whole black square in my Instagram for
- 7:33You did do it?
- 7:34I did, you know, and
- 7:36um even at the beginning of COVID, I did
- 7:37say, you know, there was this really
- 7:39funny thing where I was like, you know,
- 7:41uh we need to keep the masks for the
- 7:43hospitals, so you can make these little
- 7:45masks out of your bras uh if they're
- 7:47padded. And Oh god.
- 7:50It's like, you know, I was participating
- 7:52and I was like, you know, I wanted, you
- 7:54know, from my my heart, I wanted
- 7:56everybody to be okay and I didn't want
- 7:57them to be fearful and I wanted us to
- 7:59all
- 8:00But then I started watching more of what
- 8:03was happening from a different
- 8:05perspective and my perspective grew and
- 8:07then I took the black square out cuz I
- 8:08was like, "Uh
- 8:10um and then I was like, and and not
- 8:12because I don't think that things are
- 8:14like not messed up or wrong, it's just
- 8:16because,
- 8:17you know,
- 8:18trendy stuff is just it it's not where I
- 8:21want to be." So so the black square you
- 8:24do I did and put it took it off. And and
- 8:27the black square was basically like
- 8:28every time anything happens in the
- 8:30world, I only want to tell them like,
- 8:32you know, I want to tell people take a
- 8:33breath, take a moment. Um there's going
- 8:36to be a lot of emotional reactions.
- 8:38And um if you take a breath and really
- 8:41kind of like hear what what actually
- 8:43transpired. Um let's get there. Um but
- 8:46it's really hard for I think that's
- 8:48impo- that's important to to
- 8:51for for the audience because it's not
- 8:53like you're a staunch conservative
- 8:56Republican libertarian, there's no way
- 8:58I'm doing this. You've always been like
- 8:59this and you're not going to post the
- 9:01black square. No, no, you're actually
- 9:03like, no, this is noble. This is not
- 9:05out, put it on your face.
- 9:07So you're doing this and then at what
- 9:08point are you like, no, this is
- 9:10ridiculous.
- 9:11It was really when um the the protest
- 9:14started happening and
- 9:17I realized, wait a second.
- 9:19You're I come from, you know, a family
- 9:21that started, you know, both my
- 9:23grandfathers started their businesses
- 9:24from scratch. And so you're shutting
- 9:26down all of these mom-and-pop and
- 9:28smaller restaurants and you know, you're
- 9:30keeping up in Walmart and you're and
- 9:32it's just like I started really feeling
- 9:34for um
- 9:36you know, those those people that were
- 9:38getting destroyed during that time.
- 9:40Um,
- 9:41and it was the hypocrisy that I had the
- 9:44biggest problem with. Like, if you can
- 9:46go to a protest, then you can go to
- 9:47church. Which church,
- 9:49for a lot of people, is where, you know,
- 9:51you can calm yourself, you know? Or
- 9:53walks on the beach, and living in
- 9:55California, they were destroying the
- 9:56volleyballs, the the the volleyball, you
- 9:58know, like they were chasing people on
- 10:00the beach who were going for a walk.
- 10:03Ridiculous. Who were around no one. And
- 10:04so, that pissed me off, like it did a
- 10:07lot of people.
- 10:08Again, nothing to do with you watching a
- 10:11Joe Rogan podcast, or the news, or
- 10:13reading an article. This is all you,
- 10:15individually. You're like, this
- 10:17doesn't make sense. Okay. So, then
- 10:19public, what's the first public uh uh uh
- 10:22outlet where you gave a message where
- 10:25people in Hollywood are like, "Wait a
- 10:26minute. What's this all about?" What did
- 10:28you say that pissed some people off? I
- 10:30There's a number of things that pissed
- 10:32people off. I think I um I told people
- 10:34to open up their businesses. If, you
- 10:36know, you can riot on the streets, you
- 10:38can open up your business. That's right.
- 10:40Um uh
- 10:42I told people um
- 10:44Gosh, I think the first real massive uh
- 10:48problem that I really, really ran into
- 10:51was the
- 10:53What it sounds so silly right now to
- 10:55say, the beep the beep boop boop.
- 10:57Yeah. The trans thing?
- 10:58I mean, I like, I don't know how I'm
- 11:00going to explain this later on in life,
- 11:02if, you know, to family or to my nieces
- 11:04and be like, what happened there?" I'm
- 11:06like, "Well,
- 11:07I beep bopped and booped a little too
- 11:09hard, apparently."
- 11:10Yeah.
- 11:11So, that was I put the beep boop boop in
- 11:13my my profile just
- 11:16only to show that you can um
- 11:19to expose the bullying that was
- 11:20happening online that um, you know, we
- 11:22see so well now,
- 11:24but, you know, 4 years, 3 years ago, we,
- 11:27you know, Which which one prompted
- 11:29Disney or executives or your agent or
- 11:32managers from Hollywood bless you to
- 11:33call you and say hey Gina you can't do
- 11:36that we're about to get you big job you
- 11:38cannot post this please take this off.
- 11:40They never said we're you know you they
- 11:42said
- 11:44they never said that. They said
- 11:46we need to educate you about the beep
- 11:48bopping. Who's they?
- 11:50The publicists and the publicists who
- 11:52are answering to the higher ups. And
- 11:55this these publicists that you're paying
- 11:56or somebody else is paying?
- 11:57Well actually both and that's a very
- 12:00good question.
- 12:01Publicists
- 12:03the way that Hollywood works and
- 12:06the way it's been happening is like I
- 12:09can hire a publicist for four to six
- 12:11thousand dollars a month right and it
- 12:12could they could be working for me. But
- 12:14they're some of them are answering to
- 12:17Disney right and so Disney's got their
- 12:19own publicists and so you've got the
- 12:21agents you got the managers you got the
- 12:23publicists and everybody's like so
- 12:25excited about these bigger companies
- 12:27that they're not really taking care of
- 12:29the individual. And then you've got the
- 12:31media and everybody's got their own
- 12:33journalists that they call to put out
- 12:34information and it's like
- 12:36it's a a mafia and you know a person
- 12:40does not stand a chance when they're you
- 12:42know not going along with the narrative.
- 12:44So they the publicists calls you
- 12:46both and then who else like from high up
- 12:49brass that anybody from high ranking
- 12:52brass Disney did anybody call you and
- 12:54say this is not going to work you got to
- 12:56let us educate you on what's the right
- 12:57approach or no? No actually
- 13:00um
- 13:01you know I I offered that you know I
- 13:03said you know if Kathleen Kennedy would
- 13:05like to get on the phone with me
- 13:07I have no problem with that let's let's
- 13:08talk about this I've met her a couple of
- 13:10times and obviously this is coming from
- 13:12that direction.
- 13:13Um
- 13:14please I'd love to talk woman to woman
- 13:16about you know anybody who I talked to I
- 13:18was trying to be very agreeable at the
- 13:20same time I'm dealing with
- 13:23when you get canceled I don't know it is
- 13:25the the hardest thing one of the hardest
- 13:28things I've ever been through,
- 13:29especially cuz I was so naive of what
- 13:31was happening.
- 13:32Um, now
- 13:33it's a lot different. Now I would have
- 13:35handled it differently and I would have
- 13:36been a lot calmer, but like I got so
- 13:37stressed to the point of like my skin
- 13:39hurting and I was just like you don't
- 13:42want to be disappointing people. You
- 13:43don't want to be disappointing the best
- 13:45job you've ever
- 13:47had, but at the same time, when you feel
- 13:49like your line is here and people are
- 13:51intruding over into your um
- 13:54this protective space that would make it
- 13:56feel like you're betraying yourself.
- 13:59Then, you know,
- 14:01you just got to hold that line. So, um
- 14:04Is it true that Kathleen Kennedy is a
- 14:07the reputation I hear about her super
- 14:09sweet, very reasonable, understanding,
- 14:12fun to be around? Is Is
- 14:15Why are you guys laughing?
- 14:18She's got the language
- 14:19saw the photo that Rob got up there. She
- 14:21doesn't look like that person.
- 14:22She's got the language of a Mormon
- 14:23mother. Yeah. Cuz a Mormon mother
- 14:27Is that what your experience has been
- 14:29with her or how would
- 14:30Um, my experience with Kathleen Kennedy,
- 14:32and by the way, she has had a phenomenal
- 14:35um history of work.
- 14:37Sure. That I respect as a woman to
- 14:38woman. Um
- 14:40you know, you'll see her name pop up on
- 14:42some of these movies and it's like, wow,
- 14:43that is
- 14:45quite incredible, actually. And so, I
- 14:47you know, I don't know her entire story.
- 14:50I don't know what made her um have this
- 14:53wall of defense that she's had. Um
- 14:56you know, she's you know, maybe she'll
- 14:57tell us all that story someday.
- 15:00But um yeah, it was it was very uh cold,
- 15:03but I'm trying. So, Jon Favreau, who is
- 15:06the complete opposite, is just this
- 15:09bear of a man who is just the most
- 15:11lovable person um and he would uh
- 15:14you know, I get shyer and so he he would
- 15:17be like standing there between me and
- 15:18Kathleen Kennedy and like
- 15:20you know, like you know, try to initiate
- 15:22the conversations. And it wasn't ever um
- 15:25it wasn't ever bad on set. It wasn't
- 15:27ever anything like that. Um I had no
- 15:29problems on set. It was a beautiful on
- 15:31set. Um
- 15:32and you know, if a woman's like that,
- 15:34it's fine. There's plenty of women that
- 15:35are like that. You don't have to be the
- 15:37executive of a company and be a nice
- 15:39person. Um
- 15:40but it was the problems that came
- 15:42afterwards and that energy that
- 15:43happened.
- 15:44So, what was that experience like? So,
- 15:45on set, you worked on set with her and
- 15:47Favreau. She was very there very rarely.
- 15:50Like
- 15:51think I saw her maybe two or three
- 15:53times.
- 15:53And and your interaction with her when
- 15:55you spoke, how many if we were to say
- 15:58this is how many minutes I've spoken to
- 16:00Kathleen Kennedy, what would you say the
- 16:02total time is? Um
- 16:04I'd say like 20 minutes.
- 16:07Okay. And the 20 minutes was was it more
- 16:09like, "Hey, how you doing? How are
- 16:10things?" Or was it more like, "Don't do
- 16:12this.
- 16:13This is change this." What what was the
- 16:1420 minutes like?
- 16:15it was like two uh magnets.
- 16:18Oh, really? And was it obvious? I mean,
- 16:21to me it felt odd, but I'm I'm sensitive
- 16:23to energy, you know, so like I was like,
- 16:26you know, trying to be my
- 16:28normal self and
- 16:30um you know, she she she does have walls
- 16:33up and so it's like, okay, you know, I
- 16:35don't know why those walls are there,
- 16:37but
- 16:38it was just like that. And um
- 16:41that's what it is.
- 16:42Gina? Or was it after she started
- 16:44realizing like you were awake, not woke,
- 16:47you know what I mean? Like
- 16:48Or was it from the beginning you just
- 16:49had that energy? Got you.
- 16:51from the beginning. I um I remember uh
- 16:55we went to the Star Wars Celebration and
- 16:58we were all up on stage and we go
- 16:59through uh you know, everybody go
- 17:01through, you know, they get announced
- 17:02and they go through and they shake
- 17:03everybody else's hand and Kathleen
- 17:05Kennedy I think was like towards the end
- 17:08and she shook everybody else's hand and
- 17:09I go to shake her
- 17:10hand and she didn't shake my hand.
- 17:12Get out of here. And I was like, Okay.
- 17:15All right, what is that?
- 17:16Accidentally like she didn't see it or
- 17:18intentionally?
- 17:18at me. You think she's threatened? Maybe
- 17:20maybe she's threatened by you.
- 17:22I have I have no idea. I just realized
- 17:24like that's that energy. That's what
- 17:26that's like.
- 17:27Wow. Is this pre-March
- 17:295th when she was like that or
- 17:32the first introduction into um
- 17:35Star Wars. Like that was my first I'm
- 17:37all excited and I'm like, you know,
- 17:39happy to be up on stage and
- 17:41and then I was like, okay. Now, let me
- 17:43ask you when when you're happened yet.
- 17:45There hasn't been an interchange. She
- 17:47just
- 17:48kind of a power move.
- 17:49That's what she said. Yes, sir. So, when
- 17:51when you're when you're meeting her and
- 17:54and like are people saying are people
- 17:57saying things like, "Hey Gina, few
- 17:59things you need to know when you work
- 18:01here. That person is this. This person
- 18:03is this. That person is this." Like, you
- 18:05know how you go into sports team like,
- 18:08"Brett Favre used to play for the Green
- 18:11Bay Packers and the quarterback coach
- 18:14was was it Mariucci Tom Mariucci was a
- 18:17QB coach or I think it was Mariucci.
- 18:19Mariucci started QB coach in the in the
- 18:21whole West Coast system.
- 18:22And the coach was was it Sherman? Who
- 18:24was the coach? Not Holmgren. Holmgren.
- 18:27Mike and Brett Favre and and Holmgren
- 18:29would always have issues. But, Mariucci
- 18:32was like in between the buffers. Like, I
- 18:34got you. Don't worry. You and I will
- 18:35work together and
- 18:37coach just wants
- 18:38you know, for you to perform better. Did
- 18:40anybody like kind of you know, prepare
- 18:43you for what to expect with these strong
- 18:45media personalities?
- 18:47No, no. And I think that
- 18:49Star Wars being one of the biggest fan
- 18:52bases and also one of the most
- 18:53controversial kind of toxic fan bases.
- 18:56There's like two different sides, of
- 18:58which I have my theory on that. Um
- 19:00you know, I feel like
- 19:03when you go into that kind of job, there
- 19:05needs to be immediate media training,
- 19:08immediate understanding of the
- 19:09environment.
- 19:11Um
- 19:11and uh to really just kind of like
- 19:14prepare people for that because uh
- 19:18But but you know, like I think that will
- 19:20eventually get there.
- 19:22It just wasn't there at that time. Got
- 19:24it. Okay. So, Kathleen Kennedy first
- 19:26experience isn't that good. John
- 19:28John is
- 19:30you know, I played poker with John one
- 19:32night. John Favreau, Vince Vaughn, and
- 19:34the guy from Christmas Story, red-headed
- 19:36guy who becomes a producer later.
- 19:37boys with Peter or something. I don't
- 19:38know what his name Yeah, he's boys with
- 19:39uh uh Oh my god, John was funny. He's so
- 19:43wonderful.
- 19:44He is so amazingly
- 19:46He is
- 19:48my favorite person in Hollywood to have
- 19:51ever worked with.
- 19:52Why is it Why is it? He He He cares and
- 19:55he does He He's able to reach everybody
- 19:58in the room. He'll come before a scene
- 19:59and he'll just let everybody know
- 20:01exactly He'll somehow make everybody in
- 20:04that room feel like they have a diamond
- 20:05that they're holding. Good for him.
- 20:07And he is just this beautiful,
- 20:09big-hearted
- 20:11man who
- 20:12just has broken my heart to
- 20:16have had gone through this and
- 20:18you know, know that that has probably
- 20:20negative of negatively affected him
- 20:23because he is just
- 20:25my favorite like he knew how to get into
- 20:27my mind. He knew how to direct me.
- 20:30He knew Sick.
- 20:31Yeah. And by the way, his birthday's
- 20:33October 19th. I'm October 18th. I
- 20:35remember there was one hand where Vince
- 20:38goes all in. Okay. It's like 2,500
- 20:40bucks.
- 20:41Oh, wow. And at this point we've been
- 20:42playing for 5 hours. This is when Vince
- 20:44was doing the movie with Jennifer
- 20:45Aniston. Was it Break-Up?
- 20:46Yeah. Oh. I love that.
- 20:49And so he's there with flip-flops. I
- 20:51mean, they're just like regular 3:00 in
- 20:53the morning and he goes all in. Next is
- 20:57John and John's like, "Look guys, I'm
- 21:00not in this. I'm going to let you two
- 21:01Middle Easterns go at it." I'm like,
- 21:02"Middle Easterns? I didn't even know
- 21:03Vince Vaughn was Middle Eastern."
- 21:05Apparently he's Lebanese or something.
- 21:07Can you go to Vince Vaughn? Is he
- 21:08Lebanese? Go
- 21:09He's from Chicago, right?
- 21:10from Chicago, but Lebanese, I'm like,
- 21:13what Lebanese? I had to actually look
- 21:14him up.
- 21:15Can you see if his background is like
- 21:17Lebanese? Does it Is it Italian and
- 21:19Lebanese? There you go.
- 21:21So, he says, "Yeah, he's Lebanese." I
- 21:22said, "I'm going to let the Middle
- 21:23Easterns, you and uh Iran and Lebanese
- 21:26go out it." Anyways, we
- 21:27Wait, are you guys going off of
- 21:27Wikipedia here? Yeah. Oh, they're
- 21:30dangerous.
- 21:31Dangerous. Don't don't look at mine. I
- 21:33don't want to know.
- 21:34Okay. Wow.
- 21:36Come on. You're you're Lebanese, too.
- 21:37But you know, just letting you know.
- 21:39Well, you're just Lebanese today.
- 21:42You're Assyrian-Lebanese. Anyways, but
- 21:44the point is Jon was a freaking breath
- 21:46of fresh air to be around, right? Just a
- 21:48chill guy. And by the way, it's
- 21:50important for people to realize Adam
- 21:51pointed this out a couple days ago,
- 21:53there's two Jon Favreaus on Twitter.
- 21:55Yes.
- 21:55There's a Jon Favreau that's an Obama
- 21:57speech writer. This is not the same Jon
- 21:59Favreau.
- 22:01Favreau.
- 22:01Jon Favreau is super woke, loud. You're
- 22:06like, it almost confuses you a little
- 22:07bit. Please please find the right Jon
- 22:09Favreau. And also, um you know, Jon's I
- 22:11don't think he's really on Twitter. I
- 22:13think
- 22:14I think he watches from the background
- 22:16sometimes, but I think, you know, he's
- 22:18he's uh
- 22:19I think his um
- 22:21his whole thing is like, you know, he
- 22:22loves to just fly right below the radar,
- 22:25you know, so that he can do what he can
- 22:26do. And but you know, I I I believe the
- 22:29man is emotional genius. I believe he's
- 22:32a
- 22:32a genius in storytelling. I mean, I
- 22:34think there's something very special
- 22:36about him.
- 22:37That's good to That's good to hear from
- 22:38uh because that's the impression I get
- 22:40from him anyways. Were Were there a lot
- 22:42of people in Hollywood who reached out
- 22:43to you who agreed with you, but couldn't
- 22:45be vocal,
- 22:46and they said, "Look, you're right.
- 22:48We're with you. We agree with you, but
- 22:50we can't publicly agree because it's
- 22:53going to hurt our career." Did Did you
- 22:54get a lot of calls like that?
- 22:56Um not
- 22:57initially.
- 22:59I got no calls initially.
- 23:01Um
- 23:02but
- 23:03I got a lot of support and have gotten
- 23:05more support. I go to these fan expos
- 23:07and people will have me come up to their
- 23:09booths and they're like, "We're so with
- 23:10you, sister. We're so with you." And I'm
- 23:12like,
- 23:13"I know. I know." And they they they
- 23:15think, you know, I think there's a lot
- 23:16more people in the middle. Um, and a lot
- 23:19of these actors are just, you know, I
- 23:20know a lot of my co-stars, um,
- 23:23they hate what happened to me. Um, you
- 23:25know, Bill Burr was just as incredible
- 23:28and awesome. And, um, he was like,
- 23:32"If I, you know, he's like, she's a
- 23:33sweetheart and if I say anything, you
- 23:35know, I'm going to get canceled." And
- 23:36so, at the time, 3 years ago, it was a
- 23:39different environment and it was hard
- 23:41for people to speak up. Um, but I every
- 23:43single one of my co-stars, including
- 23:44Pedro and Carl, um,
- 23:47you know, uh,
- 23:48did not believe what happened to me was
- 23:50correct.
- 23:52Which which tweet was it or what did you
- 23:55say that got you fired? I think I think
- 23:57the final straw was the, um,
- 24:02the Holocaust tweet. Um,
- 24:05and when I I I had posted it on my You
- 24:08remember Twitter used to have like or X
- 24:10used to have the fleet section, which is
- 24:12like the Instagram version of like the
- 24:14stories.
- 24:16Well, I'd put it up there and I put it
- 24:17in my, you know, and I was just kind of
- 24:18like,
- 24:19and, um,
- 24:20liked the fleet. I don't know why they
- 24:21got rid of it.
- 24:22liked the fleet. Yeah, I don't know why
- 24:23they got rid of it. Bring back the
- 24:24fleet, Elon. We liked the fleet.
- 24:25great.
- 24:25So, this is yeah, this is the, uh, Zoom
- 24:27in a little bit, Rob. Yeah. The infamous
- 24:30tweet.
- 24:30The infamous tweet.
- 24:31Jews are beaten in the streets, not by
- 24:32Nazi soldiers, but by their neighbors,
- 24:34even by children.
- 24:36Because history is edited.
- 24:38Rob, I don't want an ad, Rob. Gina.
- 24:41Because history is edited. Most people
- 24:43Most people today don't realize that to
- 24:45get to the point where Nazi soldiers
- 24:46could easily round up thousands of Jews,
- 24:49the government first made their own
- 24:51neighbors hate them simply for being
- 24:53Jews. How is this any different from
- 24:55hating someone for their political
- 24:56views? So, if you just read that first
- 24:59part, yeah, that would be a messed up,
- 25:01you know, thing, right? Um, it you know,
- 25:03but when you read the whole thing, in my
- 25:06interpretation,
- 25:07and what I would like to do is like I'd
- 25:09like to put thought pieces out, you
- 25:10know, I'd constantly put thought pieces
- 25:12out so that people would just get their
- 25:13mind working. And so, um, my question
- 25:16was always like, and I think a lot of
- 25:17people thought this, like, you know,
- 25:19before 2020, I never understood how
- 25:23a population of people could uh demonize
- 25:27a group of people and allow them to get,
- 25:29you know, taken from right next door,
- 25:31um,
- 25:32and shipped off to a concentration camp,
- 25:35and ashes are falling from the sky, and
- 25:36there's, you know, I just couldn't
- 25:38understand how that could happen. And
- 25:40I've always been so fascinated with the
- 25:42World War II movies, they're some of my
- 25:43favorite.
- 25:45Um,
- 25:46so, in this tweet, I thought, you know,
- 25:48this is something where I feel like
- 25:51if we keep demonizing each other, if
- 25:53there's this like demonizing between
- 25:55neighbors, um, if you keep on doing that
- 25:57towards one another, we're going to end
- 25:59up in a bad place. And that was a simple
- 26:01that's how my my my my my mind simply
- 26:03just read it like that.
- 26:05And then I didn't know, um,
- 26:07you know, I didn't know that like you
- 26:09get canceled if you bring up the
- 26:10Holocaust in any way, apparently.
- 26:12When was this tweet, by the way? Um, I
- 26:15think it was in September. September
- 26:172021? 2021, or no, 2020.
- 26:19Yeah. September 2020. Yeah. And then how
- 26:23much longer after this were you fired?
- 26:27I was fired February 2021. Well, so
- 26:29that's 5 months later. And there was a
- 26:31lot of torture. Oh, man. In my five
- 26:34during that 5 months?
- 26:35Well, from the beep boop boop, which
- 26:36happened, I think, uh, in August,
- 26:40uh,
- 26:40it was just infla- it was inflamed,
- 26:43right? The whole, um, my whole
- 26:45experience and
- 26:47it was inflamed. I was going through
- 26:48this massive struggle session, and, um,
- 26:52yeah, so I just uh finally
- 26:55finally they just stopped contacting me
- 26:57around I think after December and I
- 27:00hadn't heard from them and I was like,
- 27:01well,
- 27:02there's that.
- 27:03Does your agent does your agent contact
- 27:05you and be like, hey, listen, they're
- 27:06not even I mean there there has to be
- 27:08some type of communication cuz you you
- 27:09were even about to have like a spin-off
- 27:10of
- 27:12your own show. Yeah. Right?
- 27:13Yeah, so I got a phone call from Jon
- 27:15Favreau. Um I think it was October or
- 27:17November and they had told me he had
- 27:19said
- 27:20I was like, okay, what kind of
- 27:21conversation is this going to be?
- 27:23And he was like, it's all positive,
- 27:25Gina. It's great. Everything's good.
- 27:27You're going to be great. Um and I want
- 27:29you to know that your life's about to
- 27:31change because I have written the pilot
- 27:33of Rangers of the New Republic and it
- 27:36was okayed by Disney and you're on your
- 27:38way.
- 27:38what a phone call. And it was like
- 27:40after all of the awful things that had
- 27:42been happening I was I was just like, oh
- 27:44my gosh, like this is insane. This is
- 27:46wonderful. And I'm saying, you know,
- 27:48everybody's being very emotional. All my
- 27:50male co-stars, all of like the, you
- 27:53know, everybody's allowed to like say
- 27:55their opinions online, so I, you know, I
- 27:57stuck to continuing my opinions. Um
- 28:01but I don't think I ever said anything
- 28:02that was
- 28:04um you know, I think that was like the
- 28:06most intense that it got, which you
- 28:08could see something like that on um
- 28:10you know, the Holocaust Twitter account,
- 28:13you know, like that's like
- 28:15history, you know, so
- 28:17um so he he called me and told me that
- 28:19and I was like, you know, on cloud nine,
- 28:22like, okay, it's happening.
- 28:24That's cool. Yeah.
- 28:25And then so that's good news. That was
- 28:26wonderful.
- 28:27October, November, but then what
- 28:29happened February? Um
- 28:32February was that tweet.
- 28:34Oh, you tweeted that September though,
- 28:36right?
- 28:37no, okay, I'm so sorry. I think
- 28:38September's the pronoun, the beep boop
- 28:41Got it. That's February.
- 28:42February, yeah, that February 2021 was
- 28:44that tweet.
- 28:45So how much longer after that did you
- 28:46Was it instant?
- 28:48the day, I think. It was the day. Like
- 28:50within hours.
- 28:51And is this when they made the
- 28:52announcement where,
- 28:54you know, even I think Bob Iger came out
- 28:56C Gina Carano something something. Bob
- 28:58Iger comes out and defends the firing
- 29:00The Mandalorian. We stand
- 29:03for our values. I think Bob said this.
- 29:05Was that Bob Iger or Bob Chapek?
- 29:07Could be Chapek. Let me see. It says Bob
- 29:09did this so Disney's Okay, this is
- 29:10Chapek cuz Iger's not back here. Disney
- 29:12CEO defends Gina Carano's firing from
- 29:14The Mandalorian. We stand
- 29:16for values that are universal.
- 29:18Uh Bob Chapek defends the firing
- 29:20emphasizing the company's commitment to
- 29:22universal values such as respect,
- 29:23decency, integrity, and inclusion.
- 29:26Chapek stated, "I don't really see
- 29:27Disney as characterizing itself as a
- 29:29left-leaning or right-leaning."
- 29:31Highlighting their focus on creating
- 29:33content reflective of the most world's
- 29:35diversity, continued yet instead
- 29:38standing for values. Rob, can you pull
- 29:39up what percentage of the Disney
- 29:41executives give their money to the left
- 29:42or the right? Cuz that's public
- 29:43information. When they say left-leaning
- 29:46and right-leaning, Mr. Chapek, with all
- 29:47due respect,
- 29:48Yeah. yet instead standing for values
- 29:50that are universal value for respect,
- 29:52value for decency. Again, going back to
- 29:53the same thing. Carano's termination
- 29:55came
- 29:56after she likened modern-day Republican
- 29:58Holocaust victims in now-deleted
- 29:59Instagram post. She wrote
- 30:02what we just read a minute ago. Which
- 30:04was never posted. It was always in a
- 30:06story and it was among a bunch of other
- 30:08It was never a deleted
- 30:10It was a fleet that kind of expires 24
- 30:12hours. Got it. Despite similarities in
- 30:14social media activity with co-star Pedro
- 30:16Pascal, who shared a post complaining
- 30:18Trump voters to Nazis, Carano was the
- 30:21one let go.
- 30:23So, Chapek
- 30:25versus Kathleen Kennedy. How much of
- 30:28this firing do you think was Chapek? How
- 30:30much of this firing do you think was
- 30:32Kathleen Kennedy? By the way, is this
- 30:33it, Rob? In 2020 2020
- 30:35Right there. So, that's the percentage
- 30:37of money they gave to the left versus
- 30:38the right. So,
- 30:39if we take that, I think it's fair to
- 30:42say Tom, 9 80% of the Okay, 7.64
- 30:45million. What's the other one, Rob? It's
- 30:46not left-leaning. It's fallen on the
- 30:48ground to the left.
- 30:49me the number. 7.6 million plus what?
- 30:52Plus 1.4? Yes, 1.42. So, 7.4 million
- 30:56divided by 9, 82% of their money goes to
- 31:00the left. So, you are left-leaning
- 31:01Chapek based on how you give your money.
- 31:03It's like somebody that
- 31:05you know, says, "I don't discriminate
- 31:07between Starbucks and Coffee Bean." Yet,
- 31:10out of the five coffee you buy, you buy
- 31:11at Starbucks. You prefer Starbucks
- 31:13coffee. There's nothing wrong with that.
- 31:14Just be public about it. So, who had
- 31:16more power in you getting fired? Do you
- 31:17think it's Chapek or do you think Chapek
- 31:20got so many calls from Kathleen Kennedy
- 31:22that they that she's the reason why you
- 31:23got fired?
- 31:24You know, I think that is something that
- 31:26we're going to find out through
- 31:28discovery.
- 31:29Cuz you're going through that right now.
- 31:31Um
- 31:32Yeah, well Okay. Well, I mean, we're
- 31:35Yeah, we have to get to the the point
- 31:37where we get there right now. But,
- 31:39yeah, we're we're going to find out. My
- 31:42My question
- 31:44I really can't wait to understand this
- 31:45one thing is and you could probably pull
- 31:47up what they said about me, the comment
- 31:50that they they said I was denigrating
- 31:52people off of cultural and religious
- 31:53beliefs and that it was abhorrent.
- 31:57Um I want to know so badly
- 32:00who okayed that. That had to have been
- 32:03someone at the top. That had to have
- 32:04been okayed
- 32:06because that was so damaging. And that
- 32:09quote right there was basically telling
- 32:11the rest of the industry, "Do not touch
- 32:13this person. She's off-limits."
- 32:15Wow. Um Meanwhile, you have
- 32:18in in Disney's
- 32:20plethora of actors, you had you know, um
- 32:24people be convicted of something
- 32:26you know, bad and then they they go on
- 32:29an apology tour that Disney on one of
- 32:32Disney's channels. You know, you've had
- 32:35you know, Go back to that, Rob. Go back
- 32:36to that, Rob, because I I want I want to
- 32:38make sure our audience sees this. I
- 32:39don't know if we put it up or not.
- 32:40Lucasfilm statement from
- 32:42uh uh her firing stated her social media
- 32:44posts denigrating people based on their
- 32:46cultural and religious identities are
- 32:48abhorrent and
- 32:49uh unacceptable. Carano seeking damages
- 32:51to be And this is February 6th, 3 weeks
- 32:53ago we're talking about. No, they put
- 32:54that right out um on I think February
- 32:5710th was the date, 2020. One. Yeah. When
- 33:00you got fired. Okay.
- 33:012021, yeah. So So now you're suing
- 33:03Mandalorian because of this statement uh
- 33:05uh But if you look through If you look
- 33:07at that statement and then you go
- 33:09through everything that I've ever posted
- 33:11and you go back through, you know, I've
- 33:12had a Twitter account since 2009.
- 33:15I urge you to go through it. I'm sure
- 33:17they're coming through it right now.
- 33:18Come through everything and see if that
- 33:20statement fits me. And it doesn't. A
- 33:23thousand percent it doesn't. So So
- 33:26again, going back to Disney, Chapek, we
- 33:29stand by our values. The main one of the
- 33:30four is really the inclusion one cuz the
- 33:32other three you're doing it. It's not
- 33:34like you're not doing it, but the
- 33:34inclusion, okay, you're being to their
- 33:36definition of what they got as a
- 33:38left-leaning organization, Disney, based
- 33:40on 80% of their money going to
- 33:42Democrats, which again, that's their
- 33:44position that they have.
- 33:45While that's happening
- 33:47and they fired you afterwards, how many
- 33:50job offers you got? What calls you got?
- 33:53What calls stopped coming in? How did it
- 33:55directly impact you financially,
- 33:57lifestyle-wise? How dramatic was that?
- 33:59Oh.
- 34:00I was, you know, I was getting, you
- 34:03know, screeners. I was getting invited
- 34:04to
- 34:06um auditions. I was meeting some of like
- 34:08the better directors. I was going to the
- 34:11red carpets. I was
- 34:13um
- 34:14you know, people were sending me stuff.
- 34:16I was just like there, you know, it was
- 34:19just happening for me and it was so
- 34:21exciting.
- 34:22And on that moment, on February 10th, it
- 34:25just dropped and the only phone call
- 34:28that came in
- 34:29Well, one, the phone call that came in
- 34:31was from Dana White.
- 34:33Which
- 34:34um
- 34:34I've known I've known him for a long
- 34:36time and he texted me and he said, "Hey,
- 34:38Ben Shapiro's trying to get a hold of
- 34:39you."
- 34:40And I was in bed just bawling. You know,
- 34:43I was just devastated. And um
- 34:47And yeah, Ben Shapiro's the call that
- 34:50came in. Ben Shapiro's the call that
- 34:52came in.
- 34:52The only one. Yeah. By the way, do you
- 34:54want to know something crazy? Do you
- 34:56want to know something crazy?
- 34:57poker with Ben Shapiro.
- 34:58No, no, no, no, not at all. Not at all.
- 35:00Not at all. But he is not worth 25
- 35:01billion dollars. Rob, can you do me a
- 35:03favor But he is you do me a favor and
- 35:06pull this up? Let me tell you what the
- 35:08craziest I just found. Can you do
- 35:10me a favor and pull this Tom? You're
- 35:12going to flip out with this.
- 35:13Specifically the way you and I look at
- 35:15uh
- 35:15business and finances. Pull up Pull up
- 35:17what I just sent you right now on the
- 35:19link. This is pretty wild. So, the
- 35:22firing happens February of 2021. Okay?
- 35:27Do you want to know the craziest data
- 35:30that's going to freaking blow you away?
- 35:32It's so awesome. Let me tell you how
- 35:34awesome this is. Pull this up. Check
- 35:35this out. Do you know when Disney's
- 35:38valuation was the highest ever in the
- 35:41history of its company? Go lower. Go
- 35:43lower. Go to the highest point right
- 35:45there.
- 35:45Look at that.
- 35:47Go back a little bit. Go back a little
- 35:48bit. February 2021 is when Disney was
- 35:51worth the most ever. 341 billion
- 35:55dollars. Compared to where they are
- 35:56today. Go to today's Disney's market
- 35:58cap. This is a little bit older. Go to
- 36:00Disney's market Okay, right there. 201
- 36:01billion dollars. They lost 140 billion
- 36:04dollars from the day they fired you.
- 36:07Wow.
- 36:08that's not funny and I mean Well, it
- 36:09kind of is to me. Is that not the
- 36:11craziest You know what the market said?
- 36:13The market said
- 36:15financially after their five How many
- 36:17busts did they have Rob? Just in 2023
- 36:20flops? Five of them? Well, there Yes,
- 36:22five that totaled around 100 million
- 36:24dollars in losses. 100 million? I'm
- 36:26sorry. I'm I'm A billion dollars in
- 36:28losses. It was 900 million for four
- 36:31flops, but the five is around a billion
- 36:33dollars. The the most Disney was ever
- 36:36worth Wow.
- 36:37was right before they fired you. So,
- 36:39maybe it wasn't a good decision by
- 36:41Chapek. And when they did fire you, Iger
- 36:43had to come back, okay? Because now
- 36:45they're trying to kind of figure out a
- 36:47way to make it work. Tom, do you mind
- 36:49kind of just real quick share a little
- 36:51bit on what's going on with Disney right
- 36:53now financially? I think it's very
- 36:54important. Now that we just shared this,
- 36:56what's the conditions of Disney right
- 36:57now financially with the reports that
- 36:58just came out?
- 36:59Well, over a five-year period, the the
- 37:01stock is basically at zero. So, if you
- 37:03bought Disney five years ago, you went
- 37:05on a little bit of a run, and you're
- 37:06actually down 5%. So, you've lost 5%
- 37:09over five years. So, that's that's not
- 37:11too good. That's not 10 years. That's a
- 37:12That's like a near-term horizon. And
- 37:15this week, just the other day,
- 37:17they put out
- 37:18By the way, you're saying five years,
- 37:19FYI,
- 37:21four years from February 2020,
- 37:25if we go from February 2021 to today,
- 37:28three years. You know what the case is?
- 37:30What's 140 billion on 340 billion? Let's
- 37:33kind of do that, okay?
- 37:35Oh, yeah. And if you jumped on the ride
- 37:36in the middle of it, it's been a bad ex-
- 37:38Well, let me do this. By the way, in the
- 37:40last three years, Disney has lost 41%.
- 37:44So, if you put a million dollars in,
- 37:47your million dollars today is three is
- 37:51What would it be? $590,000
- 37:54today, three years later. That's minus
- 37:5541. Go ahead, Tom. Yeah, to put it in
- 37:57trend So, a five-year investor is
- 38:00disappointed. A three-year investor has
- 38:02an axe in or at the front door.
- 38:04Yeah. Yeah. There we we go.
- 38:06So, Disney's Board of Directors just
- 38:07puts out a letter. And every company,
- 38:10once a year, puts out a letter talking
- 38:12about people, "Hey, we're going to
- 38:13reelect our board members." Standard
- 38:15stuff. The first line of the letter,
- 38:19"The board has been laser-focused on
- 38:21strategy that will drive shareholder
- 38:23value. In other words, stock price.
- 38:25That's the first thing. Not nice to see
- 38:27you again. Wow, what a year it's been.
- 38:29Sometimes the opening of these letters
- 38:30is a little bit fluffy cuz there's a
- 38:32little bit of marketing in there. And it
- 38:33says, "So, we're going to restore our
- 38:35dividend uh that we declared in July.
- 38:37We're raising the dividend by 50%. So,
- 38:39if you own a share of stock, you get a
- 38:40couple bucks from Disney as a dividend
- 38:42to be a shareholder. They're increasing
- 38:44it by 50%. That's called a bribe.
- 38:47Disney Disney says, "And we're also
- 38:49buying back $3 billion of shares off the
- 38:52market." Why that? Cuz fewer shares on
- 38:54the market, supply demand, it means the
- 38:56price should go up a little bit, but
- 38:57it's artificial. It's not being driven
- 38:59by a hit movie or great success. So,
- 39:02we're going to do that. And the next
- 39:04thing is, and we promise you, promise
- 39:06you, we're reining in cost it so that we
- 39:08can cut 7 and 1/2 billion dollars of
- 39:10cost by the end of 2024. Is there
- 39:13anything in there about theme parks or
- 39:15movies or entertainment? Nope. That That
- 39:18was all of the first two paragraphs. You
- 39:21get to the back, there's nothing about
- 39:24we're confident in our entertainment
- 39:25business anything like
- 39:26Future. So, they're not selling the
- 39:27vision at all.
- 39:27No, they're not selling it.
- 39:28bright at all.
- 39:29And then the last paragraph goes to war.
- 39:33Now, remember, there's a couple big
- 39:34investors, the Trian Group with Nelson
- 39:36Peltz and the Black Wells who are both
- 39:38saying, "Hey, we really think leadership
- 39:41is the issue cuz you're an entertainment
- 39:42company and we don't think you're very
- 39:44entertaining." That's an accurate
- 39:45statement. So, we'd like to nominate
- 39:47some of our people to be on the board to
- 39:50be the overseers to guide the ship. And
- 39:52so, they said,
- 39:53"Please know, the Disney Board of
- 39:55Directors does not endorse the Trian
- 39:56Group, specifically Nelson Peltz and Jay
- 39:59Rasulo, or the Blackwell nominees and
- 40:01believes they are unqualified to serve
- 40:04on our board and preserve value
- 40:07creation." They double down.
- 40:09So, that's that's what they do. So, they
- 40:10do that and then they provide this
- 40:13little chart. There's a chart on the
- 40:14back here. If If listening on Spotify,
- 40:15you can't see this. This is a chart.
- 40:18There are nine squares on the chart.
- 40:20you have this or no? Okay, keep going,
- 40:22Tom.
- 40:22There are nine squares on the chart, and
- 40:23all and all of them are financial
- 40:25related to move the stock price. Um,
- 40:28you know, cash dividend, 50% 3 billion
- 40:30stock buyback, the things they said in
- 40:32the letter. You get down to the bottom
- 40:34and there's one box in the corner of the
- 40:35bottom. Uh, we expect expect to reach
- 40:38profitability in our streaming business
- 40:41Q4 '24. And um and we're also, by the
- 40:44way, we're going to do a $60
- 40:4710-year investment in our theme parks
- 40:50and cruise ships.
- 40:51And um
- 40:53we're going to put more decision-making
- 40:55authority with creative teams. That's
- 40:56all they say. But there's nothing in
- 40:58here that we're excited about the
- 40:59movies.
- 41:00In the front. And they they brag about
- 41:03Academy Award nominations, but there's
- 41:05nothing in it about box office, nothing
- 41:07in it. At the same moment This is called
- 41:11funny. The same moment on February 26th.
- 41:14So, what do you get as a shareholder
- 41:15there, Pat? You sit there and read this
- 41:17and you go, "Well, what are you doing
- 41:18about the movies? You've got all these
- 41:20movie flops and losses. You're not
- 41:21talking about that in your shareholder
- 41:22letter. What the hell?" Well, at the
- 41:25same movement moment, literally the same
- 41:27day, within an hour, they announce Sean
- 41:30Bailey, who has overseen live-action
- 41:32movies of Disney, is stepping down. He
- 41:34will leave the company. We are What is
- 41:36up, bro? We are This is Wall Street
- 41:38Journal. You've got Sean Bailey stepping
- 41:40down. Wall Street Journal, that was
- 41:41literally 2 hours after the shareholder
- 41:44There it is.
- 41:45Disney head of live-action movie to step
- 41:47This is not a lightweight guy that's
- 41:48stepping down.
- 41:49No, basically what they're doing is what
- 41:51they couldn't say in the shareholder
- 41:53letter is that they have a strategy and
- 41:54they've got traction and things are
- 41:55going good with movies. They can't say
- 41:57it. So, instead, what do they do? They
- 41:59chop off somebody's head and they throw
- 42:01the bloody body into the street. Sorry
- 42:02to be graphic, Gina.
- 42:04it happened to me, too, so don't worry.
- 42:05Yeah. She's a fighter, Tom. She can take
- 42:07it.
- 42:07I got thrown into the street. It's fine.
- 42:09Yeah. Exterior day, bloody executive
- 42:11rolls in street. Yeah.
- 42:13Fade in. Fade in. It's a simple It's a
- 42:16financial scene. So, so he said Bailey
- 42:18would be succeeded by David Greenbaum,
- 42:20and then they talk about he was at
- 42:21Searchlight Pictures and we're also
- 42:23going to combine two positions in the
- 42:25newly created role of combined studio
- 42:28group leader. So, that's an hour later.
- 42:30And then the Wall Street Journal, who
- 42:32has had enough of this crap,
- 42:34comes out and writes an article on Jay
- 42:38Rasulo, you know, one of the guys
- 42:40the one time? That one right there? Yep.
- 42:43Meet the former Can show this to the
- 42:44audience. So, it's it's in there.
- 42:46Remember, this is one of the guys that
- 42:48they say are unqualified to serve on
- 42:51Disney's board. Jay Rasulo worked at
- 42:54Disney. He worked with Michael Eisner.
- 42:56He was part of Eisner's strategic
- 42:57planning team. He was a former CFO. He
- 43:00was a former CFO. So, Which means he
- 43:02knows all the numbers.
- 43:03That's exactly right. And he was brought
- 43:05by Eisner
- 43:06uh from Burbank to lead parks. He
- 43:08launched parks over in France, learned
- 43:11to speak French in 2 years so he could
- 43:12speak fluently with the team.
- 43:14Really? Crushed the returns over 2,000%
- 43:17return.
- 43:17Go back to where you were at, Ron.
- 43:18On Disney Europe. And Wait, what is that
- 43:20Jay's Jay Rasulo recalls meeting with a
- 43:23high-ranking Communist Party official on
- 43:24the trip to
- 43:26not to give up. Jay, keep knocking at
- 43:27the gate. Someday it will open. What? He
- 43:31He Well, he also spent time going around
- 43:34the world for Disney to open doors. And
- 43:37this he apparently had a dinner with a
- 43:39Communist Party official said, "Hey,
- 43:40about being CEO of Disney, keep knocking
- 43:42at the gate. Someday it will open." Now,
- 43:45Eisner retires and
- 43:48Iger comes in and Iger says, "Look, I
- 43:50like you as CFO. I don't like you as
- 43:52COO. And um
- 43:54that's that's it. We're done here." Um
- 43:57he said, "Be my CFO." And Rasulo came
- 43:59back a couple months later, a month
- 44:00later actually, and said, "I'm sorry.
- 44:02I'm I'm not going to do this anymore."
- 44:04So, he leaves and Rasulo, you know,
- 44:07they throw a quote out when by the way
- 44:09when Trian Group recruits him to be on
- 44:12the board, they throw out this. Disney
- 44:15spokesman
- 44:16and later it was Iger was I didn't say
- 44:19that. That is a position of the company.
- 44:21So a little bit of a a wimp there. In
- 44:23our view, Jay Rasulo's analog
- 44:26perspective is not relevant to the
- 44:27challenges of today's digital world. So
- 44:30they're trying to make him seem like old
- 44:32school uninformed. No, no, no. It's not
- 44:34like he's making movies in the '60s.
- 44:36This guy is a CFO who knows where the
- 44:38bodies are buried and he knows how the
- 44:39math adds up. And so Ooh, look at this
- 44:42guy. So Disney
- 44:43for Disney? He's killed nine trees. Just
- 44:45letting you know. But go ahead, Tom.
- 44:47Why why why should Disney be worried
- 44:49today, Tom? Because if Trian Group and
- 44:52their proxy get on there Why would
- 44:54Disney inside Disney
- 44:56just Nelson Peltz. It's two guys. Both
- 44:57of them are billion. One's One guy's
- 44:59worth 4 billion. The other guy's worth 1
- 45:00and 1/2 billion. They got a lot of
- 45:01influence. They're sitting there saying,
- 45:03"What the hell are you doing with this
- 45:03company now? We're losing money. It's
- 45:05not doing the kind of numbers it was
- 45:06doing. You're You're forgetting who your
- 45:08customers are. Parents that are wanting
- 45:10to take their kids to to movies to watch
- 45:13a movie. Kids are not your customers.
- 45:15It's parents. Why are you pissing off
- 45:17parents who don't want to take the kids
- 45:20to movies? For us, Tom, when we go to
- 45:21movies, you know what's the first thing
- 45:22Tico does?
- 45:23I'll say, "Tico, go look up what's the
- 45:25app? Fandango. Go see what movies are
- 45:28on." Tico will say, "Dad, it's probably
- 45:30going to be movies that we don't want to
- 45:31take We don't want to take the kids to."
- 45:33Tico's 12 years old when he says
- 45:34something like this, okay? He'll go No,
- 45:36I'm being serious. You've been around
- 45:37Tico to know who he is. I know.
- 45:39Yeah. So he'll say, "No, we're not No,
- 45:41we can't do this." And he'll go look at
- 45:42the score. "No, there's another LG
- 45:43There's a trans character here. There's
- 45:45a this character here."
- 45:46Even
- 45:47kids are starting to I just want a
- 45:49regular flipping movie. Stop trying to
- 45:52brainwash me. This isn't working. So at
- 45:56what point at what point will Disney
- 45:59realize this shit's not working. They
- 46:01got to change.
- 46:02I think they know it right now and I
- 46:03think they're scared to death that
- 46:06Blackwell or Trion is going to get
- 46:08somebody on the board. That's why
- 46:09they're trying to bribe shareholders for
- 46:11those guys. Everything's okay, we're
- 46:12buying back $3 billion of shares. We're
- 46:14going to give you a bigger dividend.
- 46:15It's okay, it's okay. Stick with us,
- 46:17stick with us. As soon as those guys are
- 46:18in there, that that basically everybody
- 46:22behind the curtain knows it's not
- 46:23working. It's just people are not strong
- 46:24enough to stand up to Kathleen Kennedy
- 46:26and the creatives that want to take a
- 46:27certain creative path. The minute these
- 46:30guys are on the board, all kinds of hell
- 46:32is going to break loose and a lot of
- 46:33people are going to lose or going to
- 46:35lose out and there's going to be massive
- 46:37repercussions and Iger goes from the
- 46:39right of a lifetime to writing a turd.
- 46:42You know, it's basically what he's got
- 46:43in terms of performance right now. I got
- 46:45you Tom. So I got a question for you. So
- 46:47and and this is for you as well since
- 46:49you're on the inside, you work with
- 46:50them. Who do you think has more
- 46:52influence in Disney? There's this book
- 46:54that John Maxwell wrote, I think it's 21
- 46:56irrefutable laws of leadership. One of
- 46:58the things he talks about is the law of
- 46:59E.F. Hutton. That back in the days, E.F.
- 47:02Hutton was the guy, he'd be in the room
- 47:04and a main guy is the main decision
- 47:06maker, but the main guy would always
- 47:08say, "Hey, E.F. Hutton, what do you
- 47:10think about it?" Okay, good. Bones,
- 47:11okay, got it. So hey, so what do you
- 47:13think about it? So eventually people
- 47:14realize
- 47:15that's the influence. He's going to E.F.
- 47:17Hutton to see what E.F. has to say. But
- 47:19like for for Buffett was Charlie Munger,
- 47:22right? For everybody, there's somebody
- 47:23they go and say, "What do you think?"
- 47:25And that person is very influential
- 47:27person.
- 47:28Who has got more influence at Disney? Do
- 47:30you think it's Kathleen Kennedy or do
- 47:32you think it's Iger?
- 47:34Well, what I think in my perspective
- 47:37what happened is I think that these
- 47:39companies are so afraid of making maybe
- 47:42previous mistakes and so
- 47:44they try to hire younger
- 47:47maybe people with less life experience
- 47:49and they want to stay current and
- 47:52up-to-date and ahead of the times and
- 47:55Um, so then they start you know, they've
- 47:57got the assistants and they've got they
- 47:59flood their companies with people who
- 48:01maybe have never even left the United
- 48:03States and never been somewhere and
- 48:04actually realize how wonderful we really
- 48:06do have it here.
- 48:07Um,
- 48:08and I think that the it's a it's a game
- 48:10of telephone really that just starts
- 48:12crawling up the the ladder. But then I
- 48:15also think, you know, this is Star Wars
- 48:17is these problems have been haven't hap-
- 48:18happening for a long time. You can't
- 48:21take that uh responsible responsibility
- 48:23away from
- 48:24the leadership and you can't take that,
- 48:26you know, on the Disney side and the
- 48:27Lucas Film side. So I don't know how it
- 48:28all works, you know, is is Kathleen
- 48:30Kennedy um, she's obviously needs to be
- 48:33held responsible responsible of Lucas
- 48:34Film because she's been the leader. Um,
- 48:36and then
- 48:37you know, on the other side I think
- 48:38they're they're they're both
- 48:39responsible. But but who have Who do you
- 48:42think has more I'm I'm looking at If you
- 48:43pull up Kathleen Kennedy, the work she's
- 48:45done, by the way, I thought you were
- 48:46saying Kathleen Kennedy's young. I think
- 48:48you were talking about the assistant
- 48:49because Yeah, like the people that they
- 48:51hired. I think that they were like in I
- 48:53think they were they're just listening
- 48:55and they're they're trying to they're
- 48:56trying to be forward,
- 48:58but they didn't realize they were or
- 48:59maybe they did realize that, you know,
- 49:01or either way it's the it's either that
- 49:04way or it's the opposite way. Like
- 49:05they're hiring a bunch of people they
- 49:06can control. And
- 49:08which makes sense. By the way, just to
- 49:10give her credit on what she's worked on.
- 49:12Ready?
- 49:13This is Kathleen Kennedy things she's
- 49:14been the executive producer on.
- 49:16Gremlins, Poltergeist, Back to the
- 49:19Future, The Goonies, Fandango, An
- 49:21American Tail, okay?
- 49:23Back to the Future 2, Dad, uh uh Tommy
- 49:27Trouble, uh uh I don't know what the
- 49:29hell that is. Gremlins 2. An American
- 49:31Tail.
- 49:313, yeah. An American Tail, crazy. Cape
- 49:34Fear.
- 49:35Empire of the Sun. Oh my Schindler's
- 49:37List, she was the executive producer on.
- 49:39Schindler's List.
- 49:40Wow. So she, you know, Jurassic Park,
- 49:43Lost World, Signs, terrible movie. Um
- 49:46Must have been a sign. I watched it. I
- 49:48watched it.
- 49:49It was a 24-month period. I went back
- 49:51and I read about her bio. In a 24-month
- 49:54period, she went from ET to Indiana
- 49:56Jones to kick off her career as a
- 49:59frontline, top-line producer.
- 50:01Tom. She did The Color Purple.
- 50:03That was That was later, but those 24
- 50:05months when everybody in Hollywood said,
- 50:07"Who is this woman?" It was ET and
- 50:10Indiana Jones in a 24-month period. Talk
- 50:12about box office, talk about
- 50:14merchandising, talk about Good grief,
- 50:16Indiana Jones is a permanent ride. You
- 50:18know, there's all these things that
- 50:19happened, and the rest of her career she
- 50:21proved that that was no fluke. So, she's
- 50:24a professional in the industry, but that
- 50:26have more influence than Bob Iger?
- 50:27That's what I want to know. Well, I
- 50:28think I I think she probably does now,
- 50:31and that was the point that South Park
- 50:34made in their parody, and all the voices
- 50:36in Hollywood I mean, Trey Parker has
- 50:38been slightly conservative for a while,
- 50:39and he came out with that South Park
- 50:41even at the the Pander Dome, right? And
- 50:44all the whispers in Hollywood goes,
- 50:46"Yeah, that's the way it really is." And
- 50:48that's what I was noting, not the fact
- 50:50that there was a parody, but that all
- 50:51those voices were like, "Yeah, you know,
- 50:53that's kind of the way it works there."
- 50:54What did you think about when you saw
- 50:55what the South Park joining the
- 50:57Panderverse? Oh, well, I did have a
- 50:59tweet about it.
- 51:00A long one. Uh, yeah.
- 51:02Yeah. Um
- 51:04you know, I was like, well, this is
- 51:05what's going to happen next. Um this is
- 51:07what I went through, basically. Um
- 51:10yeah, I mean, it was kind of refreshing
- 51:12to know that people can see exactly what
- 51:15my experience was.
- 51:17Um and they're sitting there making fun
- 51:19of it, which I think you know, humor is
- 51:20positive. Um it was nice. It was nice to
- 51:25I felt
- 51:26a little vindicated.
- 51:27And just And just just going off of what
- 51:28you said, uh from everything that you've
- 51:30you've gone through, from the BLM stuff,
- 51:32come to find out, you know, George Soros
- 51:34back, they went broke It was a scam,
- 51:36they stole all this money, ridiculous,
- 51:37right? The trans thing, we're seeing
- 51:39more and more that it's like more of a
- 51:40mental thing, these people are, you
- 51:41know, they have mental issues, a lot of
- 51:43them are doing mass shootings now, so
- 51:45now that's a whole different situation.
- 51:46And then the Disney, you're watching you
- 51:47leave, they lose a hundred billion
- 51:49dollars cuz that whole thing. Does it
- 51:51kind of feel good inside? Like not not
- 51:53necessarily vindication, but it must
- 51:55feel good inside your heart of hearts
- 51:57that you stuck to your guns and you were
- 51:58right this entire time. Does that feel
- 52:00It feels um you know, I I feel like I've
- 52:02been in the desert for the last couple
- 52:03years and that hasn't felt good.
- 52:07But it the the part that does feel good
- 52:09is the um I have I am honest and I am
- 52:12clear and my heart is good and I was
- 52:14coming from a good place and that was
- 52:16very obvious and I think that you know,
- 52:18so many people were watching what
- 52:20happened to me and they say this is an
- 52:22innocent person here that you're
- 52:24destroying. You're you're going above
- 52:27and beyond to destroy this person.
- 52:29Um
- 52:30and I think that's why my case has had
- 52:33such a impact because it was so obvious.
- 52:36It was just so in your face. So, for the
- 52:38last couple years it's been uh it's been
- 52:40a desert and it's been
- 52:43hard, but um it's okay to go through the
- 52:46desert because um
- 52:48then I got an email after I just
- 52:51realized, okay, maybe my life is going
- 52:52to be living in the desert now. Yeah.
- 52:54And I got an email um from an attorney
- 52:57that said that they were representing X
- 52:59and that they'd like to um look through
- 53:02my case and I was like
- 53:03What a great What a great phone call
- 53:05from from getting a Yeah, from Jon
- 53:06Favreau to now a lawyer from X going, I
- 53:09think we have something. Well, they
- 53:11didn't know what I had. They said, I
- 53:13want to look at what you have.
- 53:16Um and there's just been such you know,
- 53:18my life has been riddled with such
- 53:20incredible moments like that. I mean,
- 53:23incredible director Steven Soderbergh
- 53:24picked me up from fighting
- 53:26and gave me an awesome awesome
- 53:28opportunity.
- 53:29Um you know, Jon Favreau, incredible
- 53:32human being um
- 53:33amazing mentor and and really started
- 53:36finding my stride in acting. Um Ben
- 53:38Shapiro helped me out and just he just
- 53:41took the sting off of it, right? Like I
- 53:44I didn't take the cancellation away. Um
- 53:46we we tried to really like puff up and
- 53:48say, you know, it's going to be fine.
- 53:49Yeah. Um it's going to be fine and it it
- 53:51was a door open, but as far as me, I'm
- 53:54still very much in the desert.
- 53:56Um and then here comes Elon Musk and I'm
- 53:59just like
- 54:00who does this happen to?
- 54:02Yeah. I'm just like there's real men in
- 54:04the world that um have
- 54:07opened doors for me that um
- 54:10it's just made my life so for for him to
- 54:12do this and X to do this for me is
- 54:16it already has lifted this
- 54:17thousand-pound, you know, beast off of
- 54:20my chest because whether I wanted it or
- 54:22not, I was carrying around the shame of
- 54:25being fired. Nobody wants to be fired.
- 54:27And so I was carrying around whether I
- 54:29was trying to like put on the brave
- 54:30face, I was carrying around the shame
- 54:33and um it was affecting my me me
- 54:35physically, it's been affecting me
- 54:36mentally.
- 54:38And then um when I got that
- 54:40email, I responded like
- 54:42within 3 hours and I'm like, I don't
- 54:44care if I seem eager right now. I said
- 54:45Yes, yes, yes.
- 54:46Yes, I would love to speak with you. And
- 54:49then I got on the phone with them and
- 54:50they're told him what happened, told him
- 54:51my story. They said, could you, you
- 54:53know, send us some stuff? I just sent
- 54:54them everything that I had and
- 54:56they ended up speaking with X and um
- 54:58Elon and uh explaining the story and
- 55:00they really believe that we have an
- 55:02awesome
- 55:02Oh, so much.
- 55:03By the way, I mean this is when you're
- 55:04telling the story, you know,
- 55:06you know, you know, when you're asking a
- 55:07question, do you feel vindicated?
- 55:08Yeah. You know what's a thing? Mhm. You
- 55:10know, okay, so let's just say you get
- 55:12money. Fine. That's one thing. But you
- 55:15know what's annoying? What? It's like
- 55:18you're have such momentum, you're
- 55:20peaking and you take you want to work.
- 55:22Like the what is the purpose of money
- 55:24without me creating something, being
- 55:26part of something? It's so frustrating
- 55:28when you're at your peak and you're not
- 55:29able to create, build. You got stuff
- 55:32that's going on at your best. Like that
- 55:33is so annoying.
- 55:34When I'm working and it always puts my
- 55:36dad in tears. It's the only time I see
- 55:38him in tears
- 55:39is when I'm working, I am at my best
- 55:41because I'm consistent and I, you know,
- 55:43diet's consistent, work is consistent,
- 55:45my health, my mental health. And And
- 55:46that's also why I was speaking out about
- 55:48the lockdowns, too, because you get a
- 55:50bus driver who's been, you know, driving
- 55:51a bus for 30 years and might have an
- 55:53addiction problem and you're going to
- 55:54shove him at home and stick him with
- 55:57like all this reality of at home and
- 55:58then he's going to start drinking again
- 56:00and now we've got alcoholism and now
- 56:01we've got um deaths everywhere. So,
- 56:05as an artist, I know what it's like to
- 56:06not work and it's it's it's a we need to
- 56:09work as humans, you know? Um and it's
- 56:12really hard to kind of create your own
- 56:13work, which is what I'm doing now, um
- 56:15finally.
- 56:16But, I mean, it was uh it was
- 56:19devastating.
- 56:20part that's first. I want to read this
- 56:21because the story comes out February 6th
- 56:23this this this year. Gina Carano sues
- 56:26Disney over Mandalorian firing and
- 56:28lawsuit funded by Elon Musk. This is the
- 56:30Hollywood Reporter.
- 56:31She She initiates you a lawsuit against
- 56:34Disney and Lucasfilm alleging
- 56:35discrimination and wrongful termination
- 56:37stating my words were consistently
- 56:39twisted to demonize and dehumanize me as
- 56:42an alt-right wing extremist. Carano
- 56:44contends she was fired for her cultural
- 56:47and religious beliefs accusing Disney of
- 56:49ignoring offensive posts made
- 56:52by male co-stars and seeks a court order
- 56:54that would force Lucasfilm to recast her
- 56:57role with at least a $75,000 in damages.
- 57:00That's chump change to them. Elon Musk's
- 57:02X Corp funds
- 57:03Carano's lawsuit reflecting a broader
- 57:05debate and corporate influence as
- 57:07Carano's case underscores tensions over
- 57:10online expression with Musk pledging
- 57:13to support user facing discrimination
- 57:15saying, "I'm honored that my case has
- 57:17been chosen to be supported by the
- 57:19company that has been one of the last
- 57:20glimmers
- 57:22of hope for free speech." And then
- 57:23couple days later Forbes writes about
- 57:25this as well. Musk rages against
- 57:28Disney's Disney's DEI Gestapo and
- 57:31doubles down on the crusade in a series
- 57:32of posts on X. He published that what he
- 57:34claimed is Disney's full set of DEI
- 57:36standards and guidelines on how to
- 57:37achieve them. Musk
- 57:39savage the guidelines, which he
- 57:41describes as laws, as racist, sexist,
- 57:44and discriminatory and a likely reason
- 57:46why most of the media giants content
- 57:49from the past few years has sucked. The
- 57:50billionaire has
- 57:52said the guidelines were laboriously
- 57:54vile and claimed merely navigating the
- 57:56DEI minefield will crush the creative
- 57:59process. It crushes the creative spirit
- 58:02of someone who just wants to make great
- 58:04art, which is what we just talked about.
- 58:06Musk said in a response to a post from
- 58:08the Libs of TikTok, a popular and
- 58:10influential account known for its
- 58:12inflammatory posts and incendiary
- 58:15rhetoric against liberals, which often
- 58:18targets LGBTQ people. Now, keep in mind,
- 58:20this is Forbes. So, Forbes has to play
- 58:21through the DEI score.
- 58:23Without providing any evidence, Musk
- 58:25says the company's diversity program,
- 58:27when enforced by Disney's DEI Gestapo,
- 58:29referencing Nazi's Germany's feared
- 58:31secret police, infamous for deploying
- 58:33brutal tactics and torture to support
- 58:36resistance. It must feel good that you
- 58:37got the most, you know, powerful media
- 58:40billionaire wealthiest guy, modern-day
- 58:43Iron Man backing you up. Well, it was
- 58:45the only way
- 58:47it was going to happen and, you know, I
- 58:50had to move out of Hermosa Beach. I had
- 58:52to move out of LA. I had paparazzi
- 58:54knowing where I lived. I had stalkers. I
- 58:56didn't live in a gated community. I was
- 58:57very much in danger where I was at.
- 59:00So,
- 59:01sold the house, bought an RV, traveled
- 59:04across 25 states, and thought I was
- 59:07going to end up in Nashville with the
- 59:08Daily Wire, didn't. Love them, but just
- 59:11wasn't my This is not where I ended up.
- 59:14Um, and then I went up to Montana when
- 59:16we shot Terror on the Prairie and I fell
- 59:19in love with it. I fell in love with the
- 59:20freedom. I felt like I could breathe. I
- 59:22could see the big sky. Big sky country.
- 59:25And I just felt like this is where I
- 59:26belong.
- 59:27This is where I I feel safe. Yeah, so
- 59:30um yeah. That's great. So, how far are
- 59:33you guys right now with the lawsuit?
- 59:35Um
- 59:37well,
- 59:38I'm not very good at the lawyer stuff,
- 59:41but I believe they have a certain amount
- 59:42of time
- 59:43um
- 59:44to respond. They being Disney? Yeah,
- 59:47they have a certain amount of time to
- 59:48respond to the case and um you know,
- 59:51that could be a number of different
- 59:52ways, I guess. Oh, and something of that
- 59:54magnitude too, cuz you nailed it. Like
- 59:56your career, you're on a rocket ship.
- 59:58They're going to have to take into
- 59:59account of everything that you have
- 1:00:01missed, especially with your trajectory.
- 1:00:03So, I mean like Don Don Lemon just got
- 1:00:0525 million from CNN for like a 3-year
- 1:00:08contract. This is going to be something
- 1:00:09to where the farm that you have, you're
- 1:00:11going to buy llamas, you're going to
- 1:00:12have you're going to have so many
- 1:00:14animals on this farm, Gina. It's going
- 1:00:16to be great.
- 1:00:16Well, I you know, I haven't actually
- 1:00:18even thought and this is to be very
- 1:00:20frank, I haven't thought about that
- 1:00:22because I
- 1:00:23I feel like right now I'm playing um
- 1:00:26an important part in that you know, this
- 1:00:29I do believe that's what happened
- 1:00:30happening to me right now is like a
- 1:00:32God-given
- 1:00:33gift and I
- 1:00:34Right.
- 1:00:35um
- 1:00:36so, whatever happens, um I feel that
- 1:00:40there's a purpose in this.
- 1:00:42Whether it's to let people know know
- 1:00:43that they're not alone cuz so many
- 1:00:45people felt alone during those last 4
- 1:00:47years. I love that you said that too cuz
- 1:00:49you were in the you were in the desert.
- 1:00:51God put you in that desert and you're
- 1:00:53getting to the water, which I think is
- 1:00:54freaking it's so I'm so happy for you.
- 1:00:56And you know, sometimes justice doesn't
- 1:00:58happen the way we want it to. We think,
- 1:01:00okay, justice, you know, and when I was
- 1:01:02in the desert, I was like, oh man,
- 1:01:04where's I see other people getting
- 1:01:05justice. Where, you know, am I going to
- 1:01:07get justice? And then finally when I
- 1:01:09just kind of gave it over and I was
- 1:01:11like, okay, God, you know,
- 1:01:12it's yours. And then about like a week
- 1:01:15later, that's when the ex email came in.
- 1:01:19So great.
- 1:01:20okay, well, then I'm not going to think
- 1:01:23about what's going to happen
- 1:01:25um how people are going to react. I
- 1:01:28think that um
- 1:01:30I would love
- 1:01:31you know, I would love I want people to
- 1:01:33be happy. I want people to come
- 1:01:34together. I want them to see each other
- 1:01:36as human
- 1:01:37um like we are actually
- 1:01:39when we are together, you know, um on
- 1:01:42the internet everybody's a tough guy.
- 1:01:44Yeah, of course. But when you get with
- 1:01:45people and you're sitting in a
- 1:01:47you know, middle seat of an airplane,
- 1:01:49you know, you're you you could have all
- 1:01:51sorts of different views and all sorts
- 1:01:53of sorts of different cultures and
- 1:01:54you're you know, not how you would be on
- 1:01:56the internet. So, that's where I'd want
- 1:01:58us to get somehow.
- 1:01:59Yeah, as your case unfolds, um what's
- 1:02:02very interesting, I've been trying to
- 1:02:03read little bits and you can't really
- 1:02:05find a a full legal analyst breakdown,
- 1:02:07except there are comments that are out
- 1:02:09there, Pat, that point out that when
- 1:02:11press releases are made by companies for
- 1:02:14their quarterly reports and
- 1:02:15announcements, those usually come
- 1:02:16through a group called investor
- 1:02:17relations and lawyers are looking at
- 1:02:20every word of the press release because
- 1:02:22you can get sued for putting out
- 1:02:23incorrect financial information or
- 1:02:24speculating that moves the stock market.
- 1:02:28The PR group is usually the ones that
- 1:02:30and by the way, investor relations also
- 1:02:32handles, Pat, statements made by the CEO
- 1:02:35because the CEO's voice can move the
- 1:02:36stock. On the other hand, marketing and
- 1:02:39PR have usually been, if you read about
- 1:02:42it, the thorn in the side of investor
- 1:02:45relations because they put a press
- 1:02:47release out too quick or too impulsively
- 1:02:49and it comes through marketing uh
- 1:02:52uh corporate communications and PR and
- 1:02:55you have investor relation people and
- 1:02:57the lawyers that usually run screaming
- 1:02:58down the hall "What did you just put
- 1:03:01out?" And in this case, Pat, when you
- 1:03:04look at those words that we're saying,
- 1:03:06they came through marketing and
- 1:03:07corporate PR. When we read that, what
- 1:03:10Disney said there, and that is going to
- 1:03:12come home to roost cuz Disney is
- 1:03:14probably fearing two things right now.
- 1:03:17One, they fear discovery because every
- 1:03:20text message, every email internally
- 1:03:22that talked about this is going to come
- 1:03:24out in public in this case. Number one.
- 1:03:28Number two, to avoid that, Pat, Disney
- 1:03:30has to openly file with the judge and
- 1:03:33say, "We'd like all corporate
- 1:03:35communications to be sealed." Well, the
- 1:03:38minute Disney does that, it only takes
- 1:03:39one or two conservative news outlets
- 1:03:42say, "Gee, why would you want all the
- 1:03:43stuff sealed that's coming out in court?
- 1:03:45Why would that be?" If they settle
- 1:03:47want that. That's right.
- 1:03:48they don't want that. If they settle,
- 1:03:50it's an admission of guilt with a check.
- 1:03:52That's right. If they don't settle, it's
- 1:03:55public embarrassment with all these
- 1:03:57emails and stuff that are coming out at
- 1:03:59a time when DEI is getting serious
- 1:04:01pushback. Yeah. I had to find it. It's
- 1:04:03no win for Disney right now. I really
- 1:04:05really am happy that this happened
- 1:04:07because I want professionals to look at
- 1:04:09this. I want professionals in the legal
- 1:04:12field and Disney and I want them to come
- 1:04:14through it and I want them to come
- 1:04:15through their own emails and the emails
- 1:04:16that I was sending. And I want them to
- 1:04:19take a good hard look internally at what
- 1:04:22happened here. Like I'm not afraid of
- 1:04:24that. I want that to happen so that um
- 1:04:26thing can things can get better for the
- 1:04:28people, the employees in the company and
- 1:04:30every division.
- 1:04:31And um like I I I I'm happy that
- 1:04:36they're like I'm happy those lawyers I
- 1:04:38mean, can you imagine these lawyers are
- 1:04:39like, "Oh my gosh." Oh, wow. Beep boop
- 1:04:42boop.
- 1:04:44This is what you took
- 1:04:45This is what you took away a 20-year
- 1:04:46career for is this right here. And it's
- 1:04:48like you can imagine these lawyers are
- 1:04:49like, "Oh my gosh, like who Oh, if it
- 1:04:51goes to trial, do you know how funny
- 1:04:52that'd be if you just see that beep boop
- 1:04:53boop and then it's like, "That right
- 1:04:55there and you guys destroyed her? Pay
- 1:04:58up." That's so funny. It's like I don't
- 1:05:01know Yeah, if it gets there. Like those
- 1:05:03three words.
- 1:05:04I'm really not that controversial, you
- 1:05:06know? I just um
- 1:05:08I was speaking out at a time that um
- 1:05:10people were afraid to speak.
- 1:05:12Who Who fears Kathleen Kennedy?
- 1:05:16Who fears Kathleen Kennedy?
- 1:05:20I mean Producers that want to be
- 1:05:22greenlit. I think anybody who I I I
- 1:05:25don't think it's just Kathleen Kennedy.
- 1:05:26I think it's the Disney and Lucasfilm
- 1:05:29name. So, once you have Lucasfilm or
- 1:05:31Disney,
- 1:05:32um, that name on your team,
- 1:05:35uh, on your on on your your resume, then
- 1:05:37your your whole world opens up. So, I
- 1:05:39think it was Scarlett Johansson that
- 1:05:40said once that, you know, I do these
- 1:05:42bigger films so that I can do my
- 1:05:44passionate, you know, independent, you
- 1:05:45know, projects, which actually Scarlett
- 1:05:47Johansson had a, um, lawsuit and a
- 1:05:49settlement with Disney as well for uh,
- 1:05:52mistreatment, um, or breach of contract,
- 1:05:54which is different. But,
- 1:05:56Being deceived on release dates and
- 1:05:58streaming rights. It's like factual
- 1:06:00things that they did that she was dead
- 1:06:02right. They
- 1:06:03And I think Emma Stone actually had
- 1:06:04something that she was, uh, upset about
- 1:06:06as well. And so, this is there's a
- 1:06:08history of this happening. Um,
- 1:06:11of mistreatment, um,
- 1:06:13So, I think, you know, why wouldn't I I
- 1:06:16don't I don't know what these meetings
- 1:06:17go like in Disney, but why wouldn't
- 1:06:19somebody just sit down and at least look
- 1:06:21at my case and be like, "Look.
- 1:06:23Look at the stock. Look what had
- 1:06:24happened. Look at the date. Um, look at
- 1:06:27the effect that it's had on people.
- 1:06:29Let's make the situation right. You
- 1:06:31know, they're they were so good at
- 1:06:33trying to tell me how to apologize,
- 1:06:35exactly the words to say. I didn't use
- 1:06:37the right words. I wasn't apologetic
- 1:06:38enough.
- 1:06:39How does this company who obviously saw
- 1:06:42a smear campaign happening to me and did
- 1:06:44not step in?
- 1:06:45How do they not know, and how can they
- 1:06:47not show everyone, "We're going to do
- 1:06:50what's right. At least in this case.
- 1:06:52We're going to do what's right. We're
- 1:06:53going to make it right." Um,
- 1:06:56has that conversation even been brought
- 1:06:58up of how they can do that? Like
- 1:07:01I'm I'm
- 1:07:03I I wish that I could be a,
- 1:07:05you know, a mouse in that that room of
- 1:07:07like how it has Have they even Have they
- 1:07:09thought of it?
- 1:07:10Same thing Yeah. Same thing, you know,
- 1:07:12like with the with Johnny Depp, right?
- 1:07:14It's just Amber Heard does her thing.
- 1:07:16Everybody they let them go It's
- 1:07:17everybody jumps They love to eat their
- 1:07:19own and make it make an example without
- 1:07:22taking two things, taking a second and
- 1:07:24finding out hearing everybody's story,
- 1:07:26but just destroying people just like
- 1:07:28that, destroying their lives cuz as much
- 1:07:29as people want to say he's vindicated
- 1:07:31and everything, but people the other
- 1:07:32side still looks at him and goes, "You
- 1:07:35you abusive beating" They still even
- 1:07:37though he won.
- 1:07:38They still are going to see you like
- 1:07:39that. Like you're going to you're going
- 1:07:40to have that for the rest of your life.
- 1:07:41You're going to have people go up to you
- 1:07:43and be like, "You hate black people. You
- 1:07:45hate Jewish people." And they don't give
- 1:07:46a They don't care about the truth side
- 1:07:49of it. They just see you and and and
- 1:07:51that's it.
- 1:07:51Well, and that was one of the most
- 1:07:53painful parts is I'd always go in
- 1:07:55Hermosa Beach to the Smiths, I think it
- 1:07:57was there, and I'd always go to um I
- 1:08:00forget his name now, but this black man
- 1:08:02and I um
- 1:08:03we'd always talk about ribs and we'd
- 1:08:04always kind of like compare cuz I always
- 1:08:06want to find out how to you know, cook
- 1:08:07the best rib. And we had the best
- 1:08:09relationship um and then when I was
- 1:08:11canceled
- 1:08:13I It's the first time I was okay with
- 1:08:15wearing a mask. It was like
- 1:08:17I felt like
- 1:08:19"How am I going to go in here and he's
- 1:08:20going to see all these headlines and I
- 1:08:22don't know how to tell him this isn't
- 1:08:23true. I don't know how to tell him." And
- 1:08:25it hurt me so bad and he did He came up
- 1:08:27to me. He's like, "Gina, what are they
- 1:08:29saying here?" Like
- 1:08:31And he was so confused and I was like in
- 1:08:33tears in the grocery store just like
- 1:08:36"I don't know how to tell you all of
- 1:08:38this is lies
- 1:08:40and I'm so sorry, you know, um
- 1:08:42and it killed me. And the thing is these
- 1:08:44big companies and Disney knows you'll
- 1:08:47cancel someone, you'll put them in the
- 1:08:48desert
- 1:08:49and you know, they'll suffer and people
- 1:08:51will forget about it and their company
- 1:08:53will go up and down, but that person's
- 1:08:55career, once you've done something and
- 1:08:56made that kind of statement about them,
- 1:08:58will suffer forever. Mhm. And um you
- 1:09:01know, Johnny Depp is a powerful enough
- 1:09:03person that he's able to, you know, make
- 1:09:05a comeback, you know. I was at the tip
- 1:09:06of my breaking point. And um,
- 1:09:10it is due to the people um, keeping my
- 1:09:12case relevant is due to um, God uh,
- 1:09:16blessing me with opportunity to keep it
- 1:09:18relevant and
- 1:09:19um, and and incredible people and men
- 1:09:22that um, and women that are are
- 1:09:26supporting me all around the the world.
- 1:09:30The when you when you think about Lucas
- 1:09:31Film, that's very important that you're
- 1:09:32sharing that because at the end of the
- 1:09:33day when you are going through times
- 1:09:35like this, you you you it's one source
- 1:09:37you can always rely on, which is God.
- 1:09:39You know, everybody at this table is at
- 1:09:41the on the same page with you. Tom, with
- 1:09:43Lucas Films and and Gina, who runs it
- 1:09:47now? Uh, does George Lucas still have
- 1:09:49any influence or is it all Kathleen
- 1:09:51Kennedy? It's Kathleen Kennedy and also
- 1:09:54this uh, gentleman that they've just
- 1:09:55named who's going to be ahead of the
- 1:09:58Dave Filoni. Uh, Dave Filoni? Uh, that
- 1:10:01in the reorg that left uh, Mr. Bailey
- 1:10:04laying in the street, it's it's there's
- 1:10:07the Greenfield and Greenblatt and those
- 1:10:09are the two guys that now control both
- 1:10:12sides of the movies according to the
- 1:10:14reorg. So, according to the reorg, those
- 1:10:16are the guys that are now uh, in charge
- 1:10:19of it and it's a combined
- 1:10:22combined position.
- 1:10:23You made a very interesting and good
- 1:10:25point. I'll go back to real quick. You
- 1:10:27say, who and to Pat's question, who's
- 1:10:29afraid? The answer is everyone in
- 1:10:32Hollywood is afraid because they want
- 1:10:34the Disney Lucas
- 1:10:36thing on their resume and what you said
- 1:10:38is if you Scarlett Johansson said, I
- 1:10:41want to do the bigs and stay big enough
- 1:10:43so that I can do my passion project. And
- 1:10:46if Ben Affleck didn't have a career as
- 1:10:48Ben Affleck, the world never gets Argo.
- 1:10:50Mhm. Which won Academy Awards. And it
- 1:10:53took him and um, was he Matt Damon was
- 1:10:55also a producer on that? I'm not sure.
- 1:10:57But they were they've been buddies and
- 1:10:59they worked apparently for almost 10
- 1:11:01years to get that thing greenlit. So
- 1:11:03Pat, everybody wants the bigs and they
- 1:11:05want the big resume just like executives
- 1:11:07want the big logos on LinkedIn so that
- 1:11:09they can later in life go to all the
- 1:11:11things that they want.
- 1:11:12me read to you what Natalie Portman said
- 1:11:14which I like. Natalie Portman on the
- 1:11:15decline of film
- 1:11:17amid the age of social media and
- 1:11:19influencers. This is from the Hollywood
- 1:11:20Reporter. This is uh 5 days ago.
- 1:11:23Natalie Portman reflects on a changing
- 1:11:24landscape of Hollywood noting the
- 1:11:26decline in the prominence of film as a
- 1:11:27primary form of entertainment
- 1:11:29particularly among younger generation.
- 1:11:30The striking thing has been the decline
- 1:11:33of film. If you ask someone my kids age
- 1:11:37about movie stars, they don't know
- 1:11:39anyone compared to YouTube stars or
- 1:11:41whatever. Portman acknowledges the dual
- 1:11:43nature of this industry's shift. There
- 1:11:45is a liberation to it. Powerful that
- 1:11:47she's saying is because she's part of
- 1:11:49the establishment. Yep.
- 1:11:51You can really explore explore what's
- 1:11:54interesting to you. It becomes much more
- 1:11:57about passion than about commerce.
- 1:11:59Portman recognizes the democratization
- 1:12:02of creativity facilitated by social
- 1:12:04media. There's also This is sorry.
- 1:12:06There's also been democratization of
- 1:12:08creativity where gatekeepers, hence
- 1:12:11these names we're talking about, have
- 1:12:13been demoted
- 1:12:14and everyone can make things. It's
- 1:12:17pretty wild that you also feel like at
- 1:12:19the same time more people than ever
- 1:12:21might see your weird art film because of
- 1:12:24this extraordinary access. So how social
- 1:12:26media
- 1:12:27and content creators, the Mr. Beasts of
- 1:12:30the world, are people sitting The next
- 1:12:31generation's going to be like, I don't
- 1:12:32give a about kind of movies you're
- 1:12:33making cuz they're shitty anyways. Why
- 1:12:34am I sitting here watching your stuff?
- 1:12:36I'm going a completely different
- 1:12:37direction.
- 1:12:38Are these guys long-term sitting there
- 1:12:40worried about what average day-to-day
- 1:12:42content creators are going to do to them
- 1:12:44just like what the podcasters of the
- 1:12:47world, they Joe Rogan getting 11 million
- 1:12:49views per podcast where these guys on
- 1:12:51national TV they're being saved simply
- 1:12:53by seniors who watch the news, sports,
- 1:12:56and big pharma. Do you see that
- 1:12:58happening with YouTube stars and
- 1:12:59Hollywood?
- 1:13:00I think it's already happening and to
- 1:13:01use to you to coin a phrase, you know,
- 1:13:04we've seen it in industry before in the
- 1:13:06in the late 1970s the US automakers were
- 1:13:09dinosaurs and they didn't know it and
- 1:13:11the and Japanese brought quality,
- 1:13:13efficiency, low cost cars and more
- 1:13:15importantly, you know, fuel efficiency,
- 1:13:17right? And they didn't even know they
- 1:13:18were dinosaurs and they had to retool
- 1:13:20everything and they almost died.
- 1:13:21Chrysler did die and was brought back
- 1:13:23from the dead by the federal government.
- 1:13:25I think these guys similarly there's a
- 1:13:29meteor that is already passing by the
- 1:13:31moon coming toward Earth where all the
- 1:13:33dinosaurs die, you know, if you believe
- 1:13:35the theory that the meteor hits Earth
- 1:13:36and all the dinosaurs died. Um I think
- 1:13:39it's happening. I think like if you see
- 1:13:41what I mean, the meteor's passing the
- 1:13:42moon and these folks I think know it.
- 1:13:45They're losing control. They've lost
- 1:13:47distribution. They're desperately trying
- 1:13:49to keep theater chains in business.
- 1:13:52COVID came at exactly the wrong time cuz
- 1:13:55theater chains almost died and so that's
- 1:13:58distribution. It's a streaming world and
- 1:14:00once it becomes an all streaming world
- 1:14:02and you don't have the theater
- 1:14:02experience, guess what? Anything can go
- 1:14:05there and Netflix and everybody else
- 1:14:08will put you on the library and if
- 1:14:10social media can get you popular and
- 1:14:12people start clicking on it and then
- 1:14:14tell their friends, guess what? The old
- 1:14:15gatekeeper, I make the movie, I will
- 1:14:18tell United Artists Cinemas what my will
- 1:14:20launch window be. I'm the 4th of July
- 1:14:23window. Everybody else out of the way.
- 1:14:25That was the way those deals went, Pat.
- 1:14:27Well, I thought that's that's that's
- 1:14:28what's happening. I one of the first
- 1:14:31emails that I I mean, I remember being
- 1:14:33really irritating me was
- 1:14:35um
- 1:14:36oh, by the way, uh they're asking if you
- 1:14:38would unfollow these couple accounts
- 1:14:41um and they were YouTubers who had been
- 1:14:42very critical of uh the new Star Wars
- 1:14:45movies and some Disney
- 1:14:46Who's they? Uh PR people? The PR people,
- 1:14:50you know, were saying that these people
- 1:14:52didn't have nice things to say about
- 1:14:54Kathleen Kennedy and that they would
- 1:14:55like me to unfollow these accounts cuz I
- 1:14:57was very engaged in interacting with
- 1:14:59these people.
- 1:15:00I was new to Star Wars, so I was excited
- 1:15:02about like
- 1:15:03you know, I wanted to learn as much as
- 1:15:05possible. So, who else to learn from the
- 1:15:07fans that have been, you know, following
- 1:15:09it all of these years. Um Was this your
- 1:15:11PR or agent PR on the outside or is this
- 1:15:14corporate PR on the inside?
- 1:15:16corporate. That makes sense. So, it's
- 1:15:18not really cool it's not really the PR
- 1:15:19firm. It's really Kathleen Kennedy
- 1:15:21telling corporate PR to tell you
- 1:15:22know, you know, they're telling me
- 1:15:24unfollow these accounts. And so, of
- 1:15:25course, you know, like you don't want to
- 1:15:27rock the boat. I don't like to, you
- 1:15:28know. So, I was like, "Oh, okay. Okay."
- 1:15:30And then I didn't and I kept on
- 1:15:31following these people and it just made
- 1:15:32me look when you tell you to somebody
- 1:15:34not to do something, they're like,
- 1:15:35"Wait, what?" And so, you keep on
- 1:15:37looking and you keep on looking and you
- 1:15:38just think
- 1:15:39Um I should be able to follow who I want
- 1:15:42to follow on my own social media
- 1:15:44account. Um
- 1:15:45and these heads of companies of the the
- 1:15:48biggest companies in the world
- 1:15:50should understand that
- 1:15:52you know, it's it's almost like they
- 1:15:53went in and they just threw away um to
- 1:15:56some of these fans, they just bombed
- 1:15:58their, you know, dreams and their, you
- 1:16:00know, um their Star Wars. And so,
- 1:16:02they're upset about it. And then to go
- 1:16:05and tell the actors and the producers
- 1:16:07and the directors and people, "Hey,
- 1:16:08these people are racist. These people
- 1:16:10are this." and smear these YouTubers who
- 1:16:13they're human beings. They're not going
- 1:16:14to be perfect, but they're genuine
- 1:16:16critics. Whereas, Rotten Tomatoes is
- 1:16:18getting paid off by studios and that's
- 1:16:21been proven. So, we're actually excited
- 1:16:24about the YouTubers, you know, genuine
- 1:16:27thoughts and feelings on stuff. And I
- 1:16:28love watching them grow into
- 1:16:31more professional, well-spoken, um
- 1:16:34seeing all sides of the, you know, the
- 1:16:37the coin here.
- 1:16:38But, um that didn't sit well with me, so
- 1:16:40I didn't I didn't unfollow these
- 1:16:42accounts.
- 1:16:43And I think that um
- 1:16:45you know, that was probably well, why
- 1:16:47didn't she unfollow them? Well, because
- 1:16:49I I've been criticized. They criticized
- 1:16:51me, I think at some point. And instead
- 1:16:53of
- 1:16:54instead of shunning them, I engaged with
- 1:16:56them. I joked with them, you know, like
- 1:16:58I feel like these are not cruel people.
- 1:17:00They just have felt betrayed by the
- 1:17:02things that they absolutely give their
- 1:17:04entire like you walk into a Star Wars
- 1:17:06fan's house and they have
- 1:17:08rooms rooms of just memorabilia.
- 1:17:12Yeah, it's very weird. I spent thousands
- 1:17:14of dollars to support this thing and
- 1:17:16then that happened. And Gina, just from
- 1:17:18you saying that, how crazy is that that
- 1:17:20that Disney has people literally monitor
- 1:17:23not what you're posting, who you're
- 1:17:25following. That's a job of somebody to
- 1:17:27go and be up. No, and that that's that's
- 1:17:29pretty pretty weird, don't you think?
- 1:17:31also, right?
- 1:17:33It's it's it's it's aggressive and I
- 1:17:34think uh you know,
- 1:17:36these people aren't difficult, you know,
- 1:17:38have them to set.
- 1:17:39Have them come to a set. Have them see
- 1:17:41the inside.
- 1:17:42Um you know, educate people. You know, I
- 1:17:45think that education is wonderful and um
- 1:17:48interaction is a beautiful thing. So,
- 1:17:49that's
- 1:17:51the the direction I took and just by
- 1:17:52simply engaging with these people,
- 1:17:54they're like, "Oh, you know, cool. We
- 1:17:56might not believe in everything that she
- 1:17:58believes in, but she's cool. She's
- 1:17:59solid, all right. Let's you know, move
- 1:18:00on."
- 1:18:01So, I just um I think YouTubers, I think
- 1:18:04uh
- 1:18:04you know, it's the it's completely
- 1:18:06shifted. I think we're it's getting
- 1:18:07exposed. Like the Rotten Tomatoes, did
- 1:18:09you hear about that story?
- 1:18:11The studios were were paying them for
- 1:18:12for the reviews that they wanted.
- 1:18:14For like five
- 1:18:15Yeah, weird. And then we would go watch
- 1:18:16the movie and we're like, "Wait, wait
- 1:18:17wait a minute. Yeah.
- 1:18:18They lied to us, you know what I mean?
- 1:18:19the audience score now. You see the
- 1:18:21Yeah, yeah, exactly. It's like, "What?"
- 1:18:22It doesn't make any sense. I never trust
- 1:18:24their score. Or now we're forcing people
- 1:18:26to be active like that.
- 1:18:27It's supposed to What is this? So, there
- 1:18:29has been happening for years. A PR firm
- 1:18:30named Bunker 15 is said to have paid as
- 1:18:32much as $50 for a single Rotten Tomato
- 1:18:35review. The payments, which aren't
- 1:18:36typically disclosed or usually given to
- 1:18:38obscure critics who happen to be part of
- 1:18:41a pool tracked by right Can you click on
- 1:18:43that and go a little bit deeper into the
- 1:18:45story? I've never trusted their reviews,
- 1:18:47ever.
- 1:18:48Zoom Okay, I can't even read that.
- 1:18:50That's so tiny. I can't read that. So,
- 1:18:53you don't worry about it. See if there's
- 1:18:54another story like there's says a little
- 1:18:56bit more about it. There's Vulture shall
- 1:18:57have a gap. So, anyways, it's
- 1:18:59another thing that's happening. Sorry,
- 1:19:00not to interrupt you. There's another
- 1:19:01thing that's happening is I believe that
- 1:19:04um
- 1:19:05you know, these and I actually from
- 1:19:07experience cuz I thought, "Okay, this is
- 1:19:09going to be a massive blowout with this
- 1:19:10announcement." And so, we're
- 1:19:11interviewing interviewing publicists,
- 1:19:13right? Um there's a thing called crisis
- 1:19:16publicist that
- 1:19:18was the funniest It was the funniest
- 1:19:21meeting cuz I was like, "I I'm ready for
- 1:19:23this shitstorm, right? I'm just ready
- 1:19:25for it." And this really brilliant um
- 1:19:27smart woman got on the phone and she's
- 1:19:29like, "Yes, you definitely need this.
- 1:19:30When this breaks, it's going to be like
- 1:19:32this and what we can do is we can
- 1:19:34manipulate Google and we can manipulate
- 1:19:37all of this stuff. And I And I was like,
- 1:19:40"Oh." I was like, "Oh, so
- 1:19:42you guys are doing that?" Oh, yeah.
- 1:19:44Yeah. I was like,
- 1:19:45Weird. "Wait, this is kind of feeling
- 1:19:47weird, you know?" And she's like, "Oh,
- 1:19:48yeah. And we do all of the sorts of
- 1:19:49really cool tricks that we have." And
- 1:19:52then
- 1:19:53And then I was like, "Oh, okay. Well,
- 1:19:57what I you know, cuz I've had a bad
- 1:19:58history with publicists now."
- 1:20:00And I was like, "What is your
- 1:20:02environment of your business? Is it like
- 1:20:04put a politically are they okay with
- 1:20:07freedom of speech and thought and
- 1:20:10And she said, "Well, I won't lie to you.
- 1:20:11We're mostly 80% Democrat out of New
- 1:20:13York." And I was like, "Oh, okay.
- 1:20:15Weird. Okay." And then she said the
- 1:20:17funniest thing. And I you not, I
- 1:20:19laughed for crying laughing for a minute
- 1:20:23straight on the phone with her. And I
- 1:20:24was like, "Okay, so who are your
- 1:20:26Who are your clients?" And she said,
- 1:20:29"We got anybody from George Soros Oh,
- 1:20:32no. To this other whoever know I didn't
- 1:20:34know the other name and I cried laughing
- 1:20:37and I was like
- 1:20:38just like I can't
- 1:20:41what to do with this company.
- 1:20:42So like Anthony Weiner, you're like
- 1:20:43really? George Soros by the way I was
- 1:20:46like that's the name? That's it I know
- 1:20:47That's who you pick? Yeah. I can't you
- 1:20:51know I just I I I had a call if you
- 1:20:52remember we had a call with this one
- 1:20:54girl
- 1:20:55and she she's saying I said so listen
- 1:20:57I've hired a different PR firms before
- 1:21:00but this is what we stand for we love
- 1:21:01capitalism we're this we're this we're
- 1:21:02that I said what are your So well I have
- 1:21:04to tell you we're probably not a fit for
- 1:21:05you. I said that's great to know up
- 1:21:07front cuz I don't want to pay 20 grand a
- 1:21:08month then you realize afterwards we
- 1:21:10represent Leo we represent this we
- 1:21:12represent George Clooney
- 1:21:14at least she was open about it the fact
- 1:21:16that that's who we are. I like her.
- 1:21:18Yeah I love that.
- 1:21:19liked her a lot I really I really liked
- 1:21:21her a lot it was just the fact that um
- 1:21:24yeah I know that that that the George
- 1:21:27Soros name was just like nope
- 1:21:29like because basically in my opinion and
- 1:21:31it's just an opinion you know if you've
- 1:21:33got a client like like George Soros he
- 1:21:35basically owns you. There's no question
- 1:21:38about it.
- 1:21:38So I mean if you know maybe there's a
- 1:21:40different company or different person
- 1:21:41that they would have said I was like you
- 1:21:42literally said the name that you know
- 1:21:45you're
- 1:21:46you're not running your own company
- 1:21:47you're responding to anything that he
- 1:21:49wants because if he could be becomes
- 1:21:51upset then you know Yeah you're out.
- 1:21:53And then she was like by the way can you
- 1:21:54send me the complaint and I was like
- 1:21:57Yeah no. No. Yeah.
- 1:21:58No I'm good. Absolutely not. No one
- 1:22:00needs to do that.
- 1:22:00but you know I have to say and I you
- 1:22:02know when she watches this that you know
- 1:22:04you're a hustler I appreciate your
- 1:22:06hustle and I appreciate you know you
- 1:22:09you're
- 1:22:10a strong intelligent woman.
- 1:22:11Transitioning into a couple other
- 1:22:13stories by the way
- 1:22:14Ryan Reynolds the the the names you've
- 1:22:16worked with how was it working with Ryan
- 1:22:18Reynolds? How was it working with some
- 1:22:19of these other guys that
- 1:22:21they you worked with in the past? Oh I
- 1:22:22Ryan Reynolds is just brilliant he's a
- 1:22:25you know comedic genius
- 1:22:27He can rattle off jokes that will have
- 1:22:30the entire, you know, all of the crew
- 1:22:32just like busting up in tears and like
- 1:22:34you see like the camera shaking and they
- 1:22:35have to like redo it because he is just
- 1:22:37so brilliant. And who's even more
- 1:22:39brilliant than him, sorry Ryan, but is
- 1:22:41his wife.
- 1:22:42Um She's amazing. I love her. Yeah.
- 1:22:45Blake is um I she sat down next to me at
- 1:22:48our cast dinner.
- 1:22:50She was so kind and she just had a baby
- 1:22:52and the baby was up in the room and she
- 1:22:54um it was really funny because, you
- 1:22:56know, she had dinner and then she went
- 1:22:58back up and
- 1:23:00Ryan said, "This is what my wife sends
- 1:23:02me." And so he was flipping through and
- 1:23:03it was like baby picture, baby picture,
- 1:23:05baby picture and then it was like cow
- 1:23:07balls. What the hell?
- 1:23:10So she's
- 1:23:11I love that. So she's just brilliant.
- 1:23:13She's an absolute
- 1:23:15fashion icon. I absolutely adore her.
- 1:23:18She texted me while I was in Vancouver
- 1:23:21shooting and she said if you want me to
- 1:23:22show you around just a complete kind How
- 1:23:25long ago was that? Um what word was
- 1:23:28Deadpool? That was a while ago.
- 1:23:30Um
- 1:23:32That was a while ago. I mean and I
- 1:23:33haven't heard from them since but uh
- 1:23:36but but beautiful beautiful memories.
- 1:23:38I I love his work and I have to, you
- 1:23:41know,
- 1:23:42roman what do you call it roman romance
- 1:23:44movies? What what's the name for?
- 1:23:46There's a name for it.
- 1:23:46Rom-com. Rom-com or whatever they call I
- 1:23:49just hate saying that. Rom-com.
- 1:23:51Rom-com is comedy, right? Is that
- 1:23:52romance comedy? Or No, no, I'm talking
- 1:23:54about like a notebook. What do you call
- 1:23:56that? That's called a what? Uh that's
- 1:23:58drama. Is that drama? Okay.
- 1:24:00I have watched her, Blake Lively, in Age
- 1:24:03of Adaline starting the 41-minute mark
- 1:24:06where they pick up the sister and he
- 1:24:09makes a comment saying, "Don't worry, my
- 1:24:11sister doesn't use a cell phone. She
- 1:24:12just graduated from UC Berkeley." Where
- 1:24:14they make that joke and you ever seen
- 1:24:17this movie Age of Adaline? I'm going to
- 1:24:18be No, and I'm shocked. Is it dope?
- 1:24:2041-minute
- 1:24:22mark, your body's going to have the
- 1:24:24chills?
- 1:24:25What a freaking sick movie and she
- 1:24:28crushes it in this movie. So you don't
- 1:24:29know what the movie's about.
- 1:24:31I'm going to I'm watching it now. I have
- 1:24:32seen it but it was one of those
- 1:24:35I wasn't paying too much attention to it
- 1:24:37but
- 1:24:37Oh my god.
- 1:24:38But you know I I followed her career and
- 1:24:41I look up to her as an actress and I am
- 1:24:43she is one of our classic beauties.
- 1:24:45She's a beast. Was she in The Town? Was
- 1:24:47she Ben Affleck's girlfriend in The
- 1:24:49Town?
- 1:24:49Yes and she Oh what phenomenal Wow I
- 1:24:51even I just realized that. She's a
- 1:24:53monster by the way. She's probably one
- 1:24:54of the top you know one of the best
- 1:24:56right now at it. I don't know how much
- 1:24:58she's she's how much work she's doing
- 1:24:59right now. And her husband Ryan Reynolds
- 1:25:01is I think it's hard when I think it's
- 1:25:02hard when when you marry an actor
- 1:25:05a famous male actor. I think it's hard
- 1:25:07for the female actors. Um
- 1:25:09you know I think it's hard for them to I
- 1:25:11mean I dated a famous actor once and
- 1:25:14you know people treat you like Oh yeah
- 1:25:16you're just the Yeah yeah exactly.
- 1:25:18You're just the flavor of the month but
- 1:25:20I'm like
- 1:25:21oh gosh I'm this I I didn't know I was
- 1:25:23going to get that energy.
- 1:25:24How was he by the way? You talking about
- 1:25:25Henry Cavill, right? Was he pretty Oh
- 1:25:27he's beautiful. Wonderful.
- 1:25:30He gives me the vibes that just a very
- 1:25:32cool cat.
- 1:25:33He's a professional. He's
- 1:25:36he's just
- 1:25:38passionate I'd say.
- 1:25:40Um
- 1:25:40So what was happening with him and I
- 1:25:43don't know the details cuz you know
- 1:25:45it's been a while since I've spoken to
- 1:25:47him but very nice terms.
- 1:25:50Um you know I think he's just so
- 1:25:52passionate like you know on Batman
- 1:25:54versus Superman you've got
- 1:25:57you've got well Zack Snyder who is
- 1:25:58amazing. I met him in person. He's a
- 1:26:01super Batman fan, right? Well you've got
- 1:26:04Ben Affleck's got the writer and so
- 1:26:07Henry's over here
- 1:26:08like well we got to get some you know we
- 1:26:11want to make sure that we don't forget
- 1:26:12about Superman and so you know he he was
- 1:26:15such a wonderful Superman. Yep. Um and
- 1:26:18he loved that more than anything.
- 1:26:19Did you guys date when he was Superman?
- 1:26:21Um I didn't know he was Superman. It
- 1:26:24hadn't come out yet. So, actually it was
- 1:26:26really funny. I didn't know who he I
- 1:26:27thought he was an acting coach when um
- 1:26:29we started dating. And Get out of here.
- 1:26:31Well, cuz
- 1:26:32Yeah. Yeah, it was it's it was like I
- 1:26:35And then I was like, "Oh, you're an
- 1:26:36actor." And then I, you know, he wasn't
- 1:26:38Superman at that time.
- 1:26:39Yeah, wasn't big yet. I mean, Henry's
- 1:26:40been Henry for a minute, no? Yeah, I I
- 1:26:43Yeah, but he wasn't
- 1:26:44meet? Well, I walked into a sushi
- 1:26:46restaurant and Dwayne Johnson's uh stunt
- 1:26:49or um security who um is a lovely
- 1:26:52person, Ben Blankenship. He um and I'd
- 1:26:55just been on the phone with my agent and
- 1:26:56I was like, "I need an acting coach."
- 1:26:58You know, it was my second movie and I
- 1:27:01need help, you know? And so, I walked in
- 1:27:02and I I'm really always friends with the
- 1:27:04stunt. So, I was with the stunt team and
- 1:27:06Henry was in there um with uh Dwayne
- 1:27:09Johnson's uh
- 1:27:10Ben Blankenship and um
- 1:27:13just by chance Ben Blankenship was like
- 1:27:15I was like, "Oh, hi. Nice to meet you."
- 1:27:16And you know, you meet a lot of people.
- 1:27:18And um he was like, "Well, he's an
- 1:27:20acting coach." Without of the blue, he
- 1:27:22said
- 1:27:22As a joke, though.
- 1:27:23As a joke, but
- 1:27:24believed it.
- 1:27:24Because I didn't know who he was.
- 1:27:25Get out of here. What year is this? Um
- 1:27:28whenever Fast and the Furious, that Can
- 1:27:30you give me a rough estimate what that
- 1:27:31year would be? Like uh
- 1:27:32There's been so much It's There's been
- 1:27:34so many years that
- 1:27:35is this? I want to know what So, Fast
- 1:27:37and Furious 6 is Is it 2012, 2013 type
- 1:27:40of thing?
- 1:27:40Um yeah, around whenever we were filming
- 1:27:42that.
- 1:27:43So, Superman's not out yet. Mhm. And he
- 1:27:47asks you out. Was it like a just a Well,
- 1:27:49it was funny cuz it was like I
- 1:27:51Apparently, he had a date the next night
- 1:27:53and I was going out with Ben
- 1:27:54Blankenship, who I adored.
- 1:27:56And um Not as a date, just as friends.
- 1:27:59Yeah, like we're out in London, you
- 1:28:00know?
- 1:28:00Yeah. And then Henry showed up, you
- 1:28:02know? And so, apparently he ditched his
- 1:28:04other date. And then you guys went on a
- 1:28:05date next day.
- 1:28:06Yeah, and from the moment um from that
- 1:28:08moment on for, you you about, you know,
- 1:28:11we were dated for about 3 years.
- 1:28:14Um we broke up halfway through and then
- 1:28:15got back together.
- 1:28:16This is a real relationship.
- 1:28:17Yeah, and I was treated
- 1:28:19That's cool.
- 1:28:19by by people in the industry like I was
- 1:28:21this like floozy and I'm like
- 1:28:22Wow.
- 1:28:23Um back to what we were saying and sorry
- 1:28:25Henry, I didn't mean to go off on that.
- 1:28:27But it's funny though how typical
- 1:28:28fashion of Superman to hide his identity
- 1:28:30like you don't even know who he is. He's
- 1:28:32like
- 1:28:32No, but that speaks a lot to his
- 1:28:34character because
- 1:28:35see like Jessica Biel, right? I would
- 1:28:37love to see Jessica Biel do more. I'd
- 1:28:39love to see um
- 1:28:41more Blake Lively uh films, you know,
- 1:28:43and I think that sometimes when you're
- 1:28:44dating and or married to, you know, a
- 1:28:47powerful actor in uh Hollywood, you
- 1:28:49know,
- 1:28:49Did did you and Henry ever get close
- 1:28:51like serious serious like relationship
- 1:28:53marriage type of conversation or no? Um
- 1:28:55we were very serious and it was very
- 1:28:57much genuine. Um it wasn't uh it was
- 1:29:00just um
- 1:29:01I would say it was just a lot of
- 1:29:03youngness in me
- 1:29:06and him growing up and I grew up in the
- 1:29:08fight industry, he grew up in Hollywood
- 1:29:10and I think that you have to learn
- 1:29:13you know, you have to learn about life
- 1:29:15and responsibility and treating people
- 1:29:16correctly. Um so And and staying on this
- 1:29:20with with Henry, Henry one time said
- 1:29:24that um
- 1:29:26he was being asked about the Me Too
- 1:29:27movement. I don't know if you remember
- 1:29:28what he said. He says this whole this
- 1:29:30whole Me Too movement is is preventing
- 1:29:32men from courtship. Like what about me
- 1:29:35courting a girl? Is that now offensive?
- 1:29:37And the way he explained it, I don't
- 1:29:39know if you can find this or not. The
- 1:29:40way he explained it was so innocent
- 1:29:43where men could relate to like, yeah,
- 1:29:45bro, like what what there's a risk to
- 1:29:47court. There's Henry could be scared to
- 1:29:48flirt with women because he'll be called
- 1:29:51a rapist or something. I mean
- 1:29:52And that's and that's what they write up
- 1:29:53write up. That's what the journalists
- 1:29:54that pick out. When really he was being
- 1:29:56honest and it was something that all of
- 1:29:58these people can relate to. It's a all
- 1:30:01of these men can relate to. It's like
- 1:30:02they're afraid at this point in that Me
- 1:30:04Too movement to be forward and to be
- 1:30:06gentleman and and Henry is a gentleman.
- 1:30:08So uh it's it it's coming he's came from
- 1:30:11an innocent place and got completely
- 1:30:13smeared and then and now I I I see him
- 1:30:16be very quiet about stuff and it's like
- 1:30:18he's very sensitive.
- 1:30:19Can't blame him. You know.
- 1:30:20It was I like to think that I've never
- 1:30:22been like that Cavill remark before
- 1:30:23adding that it's only natural to
- 1:30:24question yourself when put in past under
- 1:30:26microscope. I think any human being
- 1:30:28alive today if someone cast too harsh a
- 1:30:30light on anything you could be like
- 1:30:32well, okay. Yeah, when you say it like
- 1:30:34that maybe
- 1:30:35some has to change. Absolutely. He also
- 1:30:37spoke about how it's important to retain
- 1:30:39the good things which were a quality of
- 1:30:41the past like chasing after women. Yeah,
- 1:30:43that's what I remember him saying in the
- 1:30:44interview. And keep going lower to see
- 1:30:46if he continues it. There's something
- 1:30:47wonderful about a man chasing a woman. I
- 1:30:49agree. There's a traditional approach to
- 1:30:51that which is nice. I think a woman
- 1:30:53should be wooed and chased.
- 1:30:54Yeah. But maybe I'm old-fashioned for
- 1:30:56thinking like that. It's very difficult
- 1:30:57to do that if there are certain rules in
- 1:30:59place because then it's like well, I
- 1:31:01don't want to go up and talk to her
- 1:31:02because I'm going to be called a rapist
- 1:31:04or something. So you're like forget it.
- 1:31:05I'm going to call an ex-girlfriend
- 1:31:07instead. And while interesting and just
- 1:31:09go back to a relationship which never
- 1:31:11really worked although he admitted
- 1:31:12putting himself in that situation wasn't
- 1:31:14ideal.
- 1:31:15It's way safer than casting myself into
- 1:31:17the fires of hell. I'm someone in the
- 1:31:19public eye and if I go and flirt with
- 1:31:21someone then who knows what's going to
- 1:31:23happen. Now now you really can't pursue
- 1:31:27someone further than no, it's like okay,
- 1:31:30cool. But then there's oh, why'd you
- 1:31:32give up? Oh, it's like well, because I
- 1:31:34didn't want to go to jail.
- 1:31:39By the way, was he was he a was he a MMA
- 1:31:42guy like would he grapple with did you
- 1:31:43guys grapple at all or was that not part
- 1:31:45of the relationship? I know you've joked
- 1:31:47and you've said you've compared
- 1:31:48grappling to sex and all that stuff when
- 1:31:50Oh, yeah.
- 1:31:51A long time ago. Yeah.
- 1:31:54Yeah, but but the what was a was he an
- 1:31:56MMA guy?
- 1:31:57No, he didn't do jiu-jitsu until after.
- 1:32:00And yes, of course.
- 1:32:01It's an awkward question, but I'm yeah.
- 1:32:02No, it's not. Um, I you know, we
- 1:32:04definitely grappled. We're both in
- 1:32:05stunts, you know, we both do our own
- 1:32:07stunts. He does his own stunts, and so
- 1:32:08of course we grappled. Um,
- 1:32:11of course.
- 1:32:13Well, listen, if you if you're a lady
- 1:32:14grappling with anybody, Henry Cavill's a
- 1:32:16pretty good guy to grapple with. So, I'm
- 1:32:18sure Gina, yourself being beautiful,
- 1:32:20that's it's a it's a
- 1:32:22Well, it's all fun and games until they
- 1:32:23start sweating too hard and they realize
- 1:32:25it's a little bit dangerous.
- 1:32:27And by by the way, staying on this point
- 1:32:28with the UFC side. Tom, did you want to
- 1:32:31say something about Henry or
- 1:32:32No, no, no, I I was just going to
- 1:32:33compliment him on my hair.
- 1:32:34a You have a question
- 1:32:35No, because I want to have him in your
- 1:32:36dungeon. No, no, but you know, I want to
- 1:32:38grapple with Superman, too.
- 1:32:39I'm not really
- 1:32:41I'm I'm not I don't really follow actors
- 1:32:43and like, you know, I like this actor,
- 1:32:45that actor, like, you know, I have those
- 1:32:47that I like and those that I appreciate
- 1:32:49them
- 1:32:49You were a big Kevin Spacey guy, no?
- 1:32:50Like from American Pie and
- 1:32:52Yeah, I had a lot of respect for Kevin
- 1:32:54Spacey's range and what he and House of
- 1:32:57Cards. Like, what do you mean range? The
- 1:32:58range that he can bring to the role.
- 1:33:00Like, Tom, you can't be saying range to
- 1:33:01this So, I'm sorry.
- 1:33:03No, um, not It's an appropriate I think
- 1:33:06that's like we got we're trying to keep
- 1:33:08There's no woman in the vault. Kevin
- 1:33:09Spacey I thought was phenomenal in
- 1:33:12American Beauty. Do you remember
- 1:33:13American Beauty? English is my fifth
- 1:33:15language.
- 1:33:17completely phenomenal and take him back
- 1:33:20from American Beauty to Verbal Kint in
- 1:33:23Usual Suspects and then go to House of
- 1:33:25Cards and tell me that is not like an
- 1:33:27actor's actor.
- 1:33:28Yeah, he's Henry was the same way and I
- 1:33:30appreciated him because he was a great
- 1:33:33Bond villain. As a matter of fact, he
- 1:33:35was such a good Bond villain that that
- 1:33:37kept him out of a role that I thought he
- 1:33:39could have played because he was he was
- 1:33:41a contender to be a next Bond.
- 1:33:43Wait, was No, was Henry a Bond villain?
- 1:33:47What? Was he, Tom?
- 1:33:48Well, he was a villain. Wait, was he was
- 1:33:50he I may have just blown that one up.
- 1:33:52Wait, no, he was No, he was in Mission
- 1:33:54Impossible. He was a bad guy in Mission
- 1:33:56Impossible. He was a great villain.
- 1:33:58That's that's interesting. Who would
- 1:33:59your guys' top three picks for Bond be?
- 1:34:02For for for the future? Yes.
- 1:34:05For the future. According to today's DI
- 1:34:06if you want DI times I would say Queen
- 1:34:08Latifah. I think
- 1:34:10No, no, no. I think uh uh if we want to
- 1:34:12go maybe
- 1:34:14uh
- 1:34:15or something like that.
- 1:34:16If you're asking I want a high DI score.
- 1:34:18Don't you want a high DI score to get
- 1:34:19funded? We got to get funded.
- 1:34:21A person of color I just fumbled that. I
- 1:34:23just fumbled that out. I was like Stevie
- 1:34:25Wonder cuz you have to be you have to
- 1:34:26have cuz the new DI thing is you have to
- 1:34:28have a disability, a person of color.
- 1:34:31Stevie Wonder. And he's
- 1:34:33he's just shooting every
- 1:34:34is for villain or who should play James
- 1:34:36Bond?
- 1:34:37James Bond and I want real answers.
- 1:34:38Okay, so I'll give you a real answer.
- 1:34:40Today
- 1:34:41Today to play James Bond
- 1:34:43Yes. Today Who would you cast?
- 1:34:46I could easily do Ryan Gosling. Easily.
- 1:34:49I can see him doing that because I've
- 1:34:51seen him in the one movie where he
- 1:34:53played in the movie where they're
- 1:34:56they're trying to catch the mobster.
- 1:34:57What's his name? Mickey Cohen? Is this
- 1:34:59the story with Sean Penn is in the movie
- 1:35:02and he's dating that one beautiful girl
- 1:35:05that she's the girlfriend of Mickey
- 1:35:07Cohen. What is the name of the Mickey
- 1:35:08gangster squad? I think Was he in
- 1:35:10Gangster Squad or no? If you can pull up
- 1:35:12the cast in Gangster Squad
- 1:35:13Did he have an accent then?
- 1:35:14Yeah, okay. So he gave me the vibes that
- 1:35:16I think he can play a James Bond. Let me
- 1:35:19see who else. Cavill could easily do it.
- 1:35:22Um you have to have that sarcasm.
- 1:35:24three. What what's your last one?
- 1:35:26Remember Bond you need sarcasm. That's
- 1:35:28like a crucial
- 1:35:28they have but they but they but they
- 1:35:30traditionally been from they're English.
- 1:35:32Correct?
- 1:35:33Mhm. Like I mean he'd have to put on an
- 1:35:34accent to be to be an English uh to
- 1:35:37Bond. But wow, that's a really
- 1:35:38saying this cuz I love this guy. I just
- 1:35:40freaking love the way he acts and
- 1:35:42I I don't know he has the look for it
- 1:35:44because he's got more to rugged look.
- 1:35:46Yeah. I prob I I don't know. I don't
- 1:35:48know if I put him I'm a diehard Jon
- 1:35:50Bernthal fan, but I'm not going to put
- 1:35:51that one in there. I I really want to
- 1:35:53give you sincere feedback on Bond.
- 1:35:56Today
- 1:35:58He was a finalist. Henry was one of the
- 1:35:59I would put I would put Henry I would I
- 1:36:01I would definitely put Henry in the top
- 1:36:03three. Okay, and then his other favorite
- 1:36:04sure. Um who's the other English actor?
- 1:36:08Um
- 1:36:08Who he was in um
- 1:36:10He He was like he had multiple
- 1:36:12personality syndrome throughout the
- 1:36:13whole movie. Switch or Split?
- 1:36:14yeah. Christian Bale could do it with
- 1:36:16his eyes closed. I think Bale could pull
- 1:36:18it off.
- 1:36:19Let me find out um I'll find out the
- 1:36:20name of the guy. He's a freaking
- 1:36:21phenomenal actor.
- 1:36:22McConaughey at all. What do you think,
- 1:36:24Tom?
- 1:36:25Well, I I look at it and you know, I I I
- 1:36:30screwed up what I said earlier. Henry
- 1:36:31was an amazing villain in Mission
- 1:36:33Impossible and people thought he was too
- 1:36:35villainous to be the virtuous Bond that
- 1:36:38his his characters and the things he had
- 1:36:40done maybe weren't quite there and that
- 1:36:42he lacked the the British sarcasm that
- 1:36:45is needed for Bond.
- 1:36:46what do you think?
- 1:36:47Which he does not So, I I have a hard
- 1:36:49time with it. You know, I agree with you
- 1:36:51Ryan Gosling, but it's like the last one
- 1:36:55it's like they they kind of pull him out
- 1:36:56of the hat. I mean, who was Roger Moore
- 1:36:58back in the day before he was James
- 1:37:00Bond?
- 1:37:00Right.
- 1:37:01Pierce Brosnan was doing Remington
- 1:37:03Steele on TV.
- 1:37:04They pulled him out
- 1:37:05How many up and coming maybe?
- 1:37:06You know who else could do it? He He
- 1:37:07could do it as well. I can see Tom Hardy
- 1:37:10doing James Bond.
- 1:37:11Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 1:37:12see him doing it. Okay, my three
- 1:37:14My three would be yeah, gosh, it's a
- 1:37:16it's a toss-up between
- 1:37:18So, I do think Henry would be amazing.
- 1:37:21Um I think
- 1:37:22Idris Elba would be incredible. Monster.
- 1:37:24I mean, he's such an
- 1:37:26beautiful actor and I think uh
- 1:37:30you know, I could see him pulling that
- 1:37:31off. Um and then
- 1:37:34um I I would kind of be with Tom on
- 1:37:36leaving it up to maybe a new up and
- 1:37:39coming
- 1:37:40person, younger maybe, who can just own
- 1:37:43the role and make it his own. Which
- 1:37:46there are a lot of amazing maybe one of
- 1:37:48those Dune Dune actors. Interesting.
- 1:37:51Yeah. But it's got to be the right it's
- 1:37:53got to be the right chemistry.
- 1:37:54I don't know what Casino Royale was a
- 1:37:56bit of a remake, but remember we all
- 1:37:58doubted a blonde James Bond and he's not
- 1:38:00really this or that. And then Casino
- 1:38:02Royale Royale came out the remake and
- 1:38:04you're like, "Holy smokes."
- 1:38:05Listen, I don't know about you guys Pat
- 1:38:07Nail with the DI like all you got you
- 1:38:09guys I think since we're trying to go
- 1:38:11it's woke like a Dylan Mulvaney hear me
- 1:38:15out and just he's just like 007. It's
- 1:38:18just instead of the Martinis he's just
- 1:38:19like I just a Bud Light. What do you
- 1:38:21think Rob? No?
- 1:38:22No, he would want the double 07.
- 1:38:24Yeah, yeah, exactly. Shaken or nuts
- 1:38:26sure. No, for sure.
- 1:38:28I'm allergic. What about James McAvoy?
- 1:38:30He's the guy from from Split.
- 1:38:33You know you know who Rob just sent
- 1:38:35which I'm a big fan of Colin Farrell?
- 1:38:37Oh, wow. Colin Farrell did the Penguin
- 1:38:39right in Batman. Colin Farrell's been he
- 1:38:41was in Tigerland a movie most people
- 1:38:43haven't seen. Great hair. Uh uh uh
- 1:38:46I'm just I'm a big fan of Colin Farrell
- 1:38:48as well. He's a little too old. You
- 1:38:50know, you need you need you need to be
- 1:38:5140 because you're going to put Oh, yeah.
- 1:38:53That's what's his name?
- 1:38:55Sharp guy that just played Elvis. Um
- 1:38:58what is the guy's name?
- 1:38:59He's in Dune.
- 1:39:01Uh
- 1:39:02Yeah, Austin Butler. Austin Butler man,
- 1:39:05that that guy like is incredible. And
- 1:39:08there there's a couple scroll up to see
- 1:39:10the rest of the cast of the Dune. I'm
- 1:39:11I'm super excited about Dune by the Oh,
- 1:39:13me too. Me both.
- 1:39:14I'm I loved the first one. Ridiculous.
- 1:39:16I'm going to be obsessed with the second
- 1:39:18one I already know it. Um
- 1:39:20When's it come out?
- 1:39:20There's a couple Oh, uh Timmy Timothy
- 1:39:23Chalamet. No, I can't see him as a He's
- 1:39:25a little young.
- 1:39:26Um How old is Austin Butler? 23 probably
- 1:39:2925. He's super young. He's not a
- 1:39:33uh uh No, he's 32. Okay. Well, he looks
- 1:39:3523 25.
- 1:39:36about perfect because You want to start
- 1:39:39a whole new Cuz you got to go
- 1:39:41No, no, they want No, no, they want it
- 1:39:43for three movies. Look at Daniel Craig.
- 1:39:44I mean Daniel cut that when Bond turns
- 1:39:4645, you're you're done being Bond,
- 1:39:49right? Because you got to have the tone,
- 1:39:50you got to have the
- 1:39:51body. I mean, we've we've got
- 1:39:54now, you know, graphics and everything
- 1:39:56that Although I got to say, I don't know
- 1:39:58if it's just me getting older, but I
- 1:39:59find, you know, I find that women and
- 1:40:02men, and it probably is me getting
- 1:40:04older, they're getting sexier as they
- 1:40:06get older. I used to tell Henry like,
- 1:40:08you know, while he was like struggling
- 1:40:10with some stuff. I was like, "Listen,
- 1:40:12you wait till you're 40 and your your
- 1:40:14your career is going to, you know,
- 1:40:16explode because for some reason in this
- 1:40:18business, you know,
- 1:40:19you need to put in your time,
- 1:40:22see that, you know, show everybody that
- 1:40:23you can handle it, and then I had
- 1:40:25another British actor friend of mine
- 1:40:28who was like, you know, having trouble
- 1:40:30getting auditions and everything, and I
- 1:40:31was like, "Grow out your gray hair. Grow
- 1:40:33out your hair. You need to show your
- 1:40:35human side." And sure enough, he nailed
- 1:40:37the role and got it. And they said, "We
- 1:40:39really like your gray."
- 1:40:41Cool. So, you think we get sexier as we
- 1:40:43get older? I actually I I feel like
- 1:40:45Tom, grow out that white beard. That's
- 1:40:47why I'm my white hair. Thank god my wife
- 1:40:49feels that way.
- 1:40:51Yeah, so but by the way, talking about
- 1:40:53MMA, UFC, so Oh, were we?
- 1:40:56Well, now now going away, transitioning
- 1:40:59to a different topic. But
- 1:41:01you your first I think you had the first
- 1:41:04female live fight on Showtime. Was
- 1:41:07yours, right? You came out the gates. I
- 1:41:09think your first six fights, like you
- 1:41:12almost lost and you you would not It was
- 1:41:15relentless the way It was so
- 1:41:16entertaining watching you fight. Crazy,
- 1:41:17right? The way you would fight. And you
- 1:41:20you had the punch, you had the kick, but
- 1:41:22when they got you to the ground, you'd
- 1:41:23get up, you'd get out of it. Submission,
- 1:41:25you were able to do a lot of it. It was
- 1:41:26It was very a lot of fun watching you
- 1:41:28first. I attribute that to gymnastics.
- 1:41:32Yeah. Yeah, put your kids in gymnastics.
- 1:41:34Gymnastics teaches you so much about
- 1:41:37controlling every part of your body.
- 1:41:40Gymnastics and MMA, really? Well, I did
- 1:41:42that when I was younger. So, I had tap,
- 1:41:45jazz, and ballet, and gymnastics when I
- 1:41:47was younger. And then I got into sports,
- 1:41:49but I believe gymnastics gave me the
- 1:41:51full body awareness and function of how
- 1:41:54every muscle works. Is that more to
- 1:41:57flexibility? So, when you're you're
- 1:41:59cornered and you're pinned, where the
- 1:42:01average person may feel severe pain, you
- 1:42:03may not because your body is flexible or
- 1:42:05no, that's got nothing to do with it?
- 1:42:06No, but I mean I'm
- 1:42:08like you're going to scramble out of
- 1:42:10certain you know, if your if your mind
- 1:42:12is creative, which gymnastics has you be
- 1:42:15creative.
- 1:42:17You're going to scramble and be able to
- 1:42:18get out of those bad situations. And
- 1:42:20also, you know, you can't teach heart,
- 1:42:22really. And so, it's like something is a
- 1:42:24part of you. I saw that with you when
- 1:42:25you were fighting with It's definitely
- 1:42:26like it's in there, you know.
- 1:42:28That's cool. Now, so I mean, you know,
- 1:42:30in bodybuilding, Arnold they used to
- 1:42:32take ballet lessons because it would be
- 1:42:34it would be when you would pose. So, it
- 1:42:36was kind of body would fun laugh at him
- 1:42:37and like, "No, later on everybody
- 1:42:39started doing it because
- 1:42:41there was a back in the days one guy who
- 1:42:43was an incredible
- 1:42:45poser.
- 1:42:45Beard the guy with the beard, what's his
- 1:42:46older guy?
- 1:42:47What is his name? It's not Franco
- 1:42:49Columbu. It's the guy prior to him. I
- 1:42:51think he passed away. Great Anyways,
- 1:42:54I'll think about his name. So, going
- 1:42:56back to it. So, first then you fight
- 1:42:58Cyborg. And then after Cyborg, and
- 1:43:00Cyborg at that time doesn't look like
- 1:43:01Cyborg, by the way. When you look at
- 1:43:03Cyborg with the fight with you, I almost
- 1:43:04couldn't recognize Yeah. her. And then
- 1:43:07Cyborg becomes Cyborg. But there was a
- 1:43:10moment where Ronda Rousey said her
- 1:43:12inspiration to become who she became was
- 1:43:15you. She you inspired Ronda Rousey. Am I
- 1:43:18saying that correctly?
- 1:43:19I
- 1:43:20you know, Ronda has
- 1:43:22you know, just been such respectful, you
- 1:43:25know, she was such a little talker
- 1:43:27all through her career, but the one
- 1:43:28person she didn't really talk was
- 1:43:30me, really.
- 1:43:31And she um, she really always did give
- 1:43:34me that attribute and, um,
- 1:43:36to have inspired, to not have even been,
- 1:43:39you know,
- 1:43:41made the walk in the UFC and gotten the
- 1:43:42fight, to have the person that did, you
- 1:43:45know, really break down those those
- 1:43:47barriers and, um, that is just, uh,
- 1:43:51it's very special to me and I think
- 1:43:52she's a very special person. I know.
- 1:43:54she gets a really bad, um, rap and she,
- 1:43:57you know, people like to paint her as
- 1:43:58the bad guy, but, um, For what, though?
- 1:44:01Just cuz she likes, she likes to play
- 1:44:02the heel. She doesn't mind being the
- 1:44:04heel, you know.
- 1:44:04love it.
- 1:44:05Yeah. I'm sure Dana loves it, you know,
- 1:44:07not I'm sure he loved it. He loved it.
- 1:44:09Yeah, and I, it's just certain people's
- 1:44:11personalities, you know. But I think
- 1:44:13when you look deeper at the person that
- 1:44:15she is, which I've, you know, I watch
- 1:44:16and I study people, I think it's a very
- 1:44:18special, special person.
- 1:44:20Was Is it true that Dana almost was
- 1:44:22trying to pull off a fight with the two
- 1:44:23of you guys having a big fight?
- 1:44:25Well, it's really funny because me and
- 1:44:26Dana had a conversation while I was
- 1:44:27fighting,
- 1:44:28uh, right before I fought Cyborg. Uh,
- 1:44:30you know, Dana had and Lorenzo Fertitta
- 1:44:32had me into their office and,
- 1:44:34um, basically they were like, you know,
- 1:44:36we'd like you to come over and be our,
- 1:44:38you know, first, uh, company's first
- 1:44:41female fighter.
- 1:44:42Um,
- 1:44:44and I just couldn't do that because I
- 1:44:47had my promises in my contract to
- 1:44:49Strikeforce. So, you couldn't leave. Um,
- 1:44:53no. And in that time, UFC, this is 15
- 1:44:56years ago. This is a while back.
- 1:44:57ago, yeah.
- 1:44:58Right. So, it wasn't like UFC was, uh,
- 1:45:00was massive yet. They were
- 1:45:01was no females, yeah.
- 1:45:02Right. And there was what, at that time
- 1:45:04was what, Pride, Strikeforce, UFC?
- 1:45:07UFC was pretty big at that time.
- 1:45:0815, Yeah, that, I mean, I think that was
- 1:45:10a
- 1:45:11basically the prime, like like in my
- 1:45:14opinion, the the old school prime, yeah.
- 1:45:16Got it. Yeah.
- 1:45:16Is So, that that would be what, Rampage?
- 1:45:18Is that, uh,
- 1:45:20Rashad Evans, Randy Couture,
- 1:45:22Yeah.
- 1:45:22Chuck, that's the that's the era, Tito,
- 1:45:25yeah. That was a that was a fun era, I
- 1:45:26don't disagree at
- 1:45:27was like those were times where and this
- 1:45:29is also relating to the movie industry
- 1:45:31it's where the people get to pick their
- 1:45:33champion. So, now it feels like, you
- 1:45:35know, what the studios doing is they're
- 1:45:37controlling, you know, they're
- 1:45:38controlling the media, they're
- 1:45:39controlling the critics, they're
- 1:45:40controlling everything and they're not
- 1:45:42letting the people pick Hey, I like Gina
- 1:45:45Carano.
- 1:45:46I like her. Let's build her and and that
- 1:45:48takes away from the art of the fun of,
- 1:45:50you know, and so it's like we want to
- 1:45:53root for someone. We want to as a public
- 1:45:56want to get together. We want to
- 1:45:58feel like we helped that girl become who
- 1:46:01she was because she, you know, we saw
- 1:46:03her and I think nowadays studios are
- 1:46:05like
- 1:46:06Nope, you know, we're going to tell you
- 1:46:07through the publicist who we're going to
- 1:46:09put you on your magazines, who we're
- 1:46:10going to promote, who we're going to
- 1:46:11interview, who's going to play by our
- 1:46:13rules and it's so manufactured and it
- 1:46:15takes away from art. So, so was was it
- 1:46:18close of you fighting Ronda or no, that
- 1:46:20wasn't really It was more just you going
- 1:46:23over. No, no, we definitely
- 1:46:26we definitely I just needed I needed 6
- 1:46:29months.
- 1:46:30Because, you know, first of all like
- 1:46:33weight cutting for me during that time,
- 1:46:35you know, I I would struggle because all
- 1:46:37of the women were in the 135, you know,
- 1:46:39weight division and I could get down to
- 1:46:41145, but there was only twice in my
- 1:46:43career that I got down to 136 and 139.
- 1:46:46And that is like chopping off a leg for
- 1:46:48me. It was so difficult, but that's
- 1:46:50where all of the women were at that time
- 1:46:52cuz there wasn't a lot of women.
- 1:46:54So,
- 1:46:55I sat down with Dana and I was like,
- 1:46:56well, I wish you guys would have
- 1:46:57approached me 5 years ago, you know,
- 1:46:59like I've been waiting for this and so I
- 1:47:01was like I just need some time and I
- 1:47:02need you to keep it quiet, Dana, you
- 1:47:04know, keep it really quiet so I can go
- 1:47:06and I didn't have a gym. I would have to
- 1:47:07go re-emerge myself into a gym.
- 1:47:10Which when I go into gyms people put
- 1:47:11cameras on me and
- 1:47:13you know, leak the stuff Yeah, and it's
- 1:47:15it's you have to find and build your
- 1:47:17team and I wasn't living in Las Vegas,
- 1:47:18which is where my team was.
- 1:47:20So, I was living in LA and it would have
- 1:47:21been hard I needed rebuild a team and
- 1:47:23you know, do it right. And so then, you
- 1:47:25know, Dana and I love him now.
- 1:47:29He's amazing. He's been amazing now, but
- 1:47:31then, you know, Dana's Dana. He was like
- 1:47:33out there like, you know, uh he
- 1:47:35immediately started talking about it and
- 1:47:37I it made my life very difficult to try
- 1:47:39to go into that. Um, but then
- 1:47:42but then what happens when you've got
- 1:47:44this other career going and you care
- 1:47:45about, you know, you know, you you
- 1:47:47really care about you acting and and
- 1:47:49continuing on the art because art will
- 1:47:51outlast fighting, right? Can't fight
- 1:47:54forever. That's true. So, I want to make
- 1:47:55sure I kept my art going. Then shows up
- 1:47:57Deadpool and then shows up, you know,
- 1:47:59another movie and so it is a very
- 1:48:01difficult thing to try to do both of
- 1:48:03those things at once. And um when I in
- 1:48:06my head I'm just so passionate about
- 1:48:08like the storytelling and
- 1:48:09um in the last couple years I've just
- 1:48:11been passionate about trying to get back
- 1:48:13into that, you know. You're you're cuz
- 1:48:15I'm when when Ronda fought Holly
- 1:48:18uh
- 1:48:18people underestimated Holly. But the
- 1:48:20people who knew fight game like when I
- 1:48:22would talk to people who are in that
- 1:48:23world, they're like, "Listen, do not
- 1:48:25underestimate
- 1:48:26Oh, I knew that was uh Holly.
- 1:48:28it. Yeah, she's a she's a beast, right?
- 1:48:30So
- 1:48:30I trained with Holly. Um I I lived in uh
- 1:48:32Albuquerque, New Mexico and I've never
- 1:48:34seen
- 1:48:35um
- 1:48:36a woman
- 1:48:38or possi No, actually, you know,
- 1:48:40my partner now is uh the the hardest
- 1:48:43worker I'll ever know. Um he's into Muay
- 1:48:45Thai and was one of like the first uh
- 1:48:47Muay Thai Kevin Ross and
- 1:48:50but uh second to hard workers, I'd say
- 1:48:52Holly Holly Holm.
- 1:48:53No joke.
- 1:48:54Like is the hardest worker.
- 1:48:56Interesting.
- 1:48:56Wow. She runs.
- 1:48:58She does all of the stuff. She's so
- 1:48:59disciplined. Um
- 1:49:02it's it was a beautiful thing to be
- 1:49:03around and um you know, it was it was
- 1:49:06really cool.
- 1:49:06If if your peak, your thoughts. I mean,
- 1:49:08you're you're you're somebody that you
- 1:49:10know, understands the fight game and and
- 1:49:12knows it.
- 1:49:13We're just fans.
- 1:49:14Your peak against Ronda's peak, who wins
- 1:49:17the fight?
- 1:49:18I do. You think so?
- 1:49:19Love her. Tell me why. Why do you think?
- 1:49:21Um
- 1:49:24cuz I pack a hell of a punch.
- 1:49:27She did too, though. No.
- 1:49:29No, Ronda Rousey was a choker. No, I
- 1:49:31mean I I I know I've had you know I know
- 1:49:33how she punches. Uh
- 1:49:36I punch like a trucker.
- 1:49:39I might have to get punched after this,
- 1:49:40but
- 1:49:41She She knocked me out. So, what area
- 1:49:44would she have the edge over you? The
- 1:49:46ground.
- 1:49:46Okay. Obviously. Um but I'm I'm you
- 1:49:49know, I'm scrambly. So,
- 1:49:52it's no disrespect and I'm sure she'd
- 1:49:53say the same thing. She would win.
- 1:49:56Um
- 1:49:57but I That's just something I know.
- 1:49:59That would have been a good
- 1:50:00Because I know like
- 1:50:01after you've been punched like that,
- 1:50:03right? After you've got
- 1:50:04She got shook twice. Amanda Nunes and
- 1:50:07Holly Holm.
- 1:50:08And um I believe
- 1:50:10you know, I think I uh
- 1:50:13I'm one of the hardest punchers that
- 1:50:15women's mixed martial arts has ever
- 1:50:16seen.
- 1:50:17By the way, go go So, how What about you
- 1:50:18against Holly or you against Amanda?
- 1:50:21Um those would be more interesting, I
- 1:50:23think. Uh with Holly it would be
- 1:50:26uh it would be more of you'd want to be
- 1:50:28in the best shape of your life and it
- 1:50:29would be more get her to the ground.
- 1:50:31But I also believe that um Muay Thai
- 1:50:34beats
- 1:50:35uh you know, kickboxing in every way.
- 1:50:38So, um she's more of a kickboxer and I
- 1:50:40feel uh
- 1:50:42uh but she does have the experience
- 1:50:44though. And so, there's you know, that
- 1:50:46would be a little bit more I think of an
- 1:50:47interesting fight. Um and Amanda Nunes,
- 1:50:50she's got that Cyborg energy and uh has
- 1:50:52been retired for a while, but
- 1:50:55yeah, I don't
- 1:50:56I don't know. I mean
- 1:50:58that one would be difficult. That would
- 1:50:59be more
- 1:51:00She's a monster. When I watch her fight,
- 1:51:02you kind of like holy She comes
- 1:51:05in.
- 1:51:05She's crazy. She's She's almost like
- 1:51:06that smile is intimidating. But then
- 1:51:08Who's the Who's the Mexican Who's Who's
- 1:51:10the one she fought and she lost Well,
- 1:51:12she just wouldn't give up.
- 1:51:13Cortez.
- 1:51:13Cortez, yeah, that's right. Yeah, and
- 1:51:15she was interesting to watch.
- 1:51:16Um, which was awesome, right?
- 1:51:17Yeah, she was the underdog there.
- 1:51:19Super, like nobody thought she stood a
- 1:51:20chance, but
- 1:51:21love that.
- 1:51:22Yeah. Oh, no, no, it wasn't a
- 1:51:23Not this one. This is not the one. You
- 1:51:24would know Just type in type in Nunes
- 1:51:27Cortez. That's all you got to do.
- 1:51:28Cortez Nunes has just got loss.
- 1:51:30Or maybe it's Her loss was against who?
- 1:51:32Maybe it's not Cortez Cortez.
- 1:51:34Go to images, Rob.
- 1:51:36Go to images. That fight was really
- 1:51:38awesome. That that that one surprised
- 1:51:40me. Just type in who Just type in Nunes
- 1:51:42and go to Wikipedia and you'll see who
- 1:51:44she lost to.
- 1:51:45Amanda.
- 1:51:47Uh, regardless while we have this
- 1:51:48moment, um, I love all of these women. I
- 1:51:51think they're incredible and, you know,
- 1:51:53it's easy to sit here from a microphone
- 1:51:55and say I would and I wouldn't. Um, but
- 1:51:58you know, I do I I do want to give you
- 1:52:00guys that
- 1:52:01Juliana Peña.
- 1:52:01That honest opinion. I personally would
- 1:52:02have my money I I'm being real cuz I
- 1:52:04mean I I I watched Ronda from when she
- 1:52:06started to She, like you said, she was
- 1:52:08more of a judo Was her her
- 1:52:10discipline. She didn't She never really
- 1:52:12boxed and she never really, you know,
- 1:52:13used her hands and I mean Holly Holm was
- 1:52:15that match where Holly kept her away
- 1:52:17from her and was, you know, kicking and
- 1:52:18punching, but I didn't I I think you'd
- 1:52:20have the edge if it came down to you and
- 1:52:22that's
- 1:52:23It it would be
- 1:52:24very fun.
- 1:52:24It would be It'd be pretty difficult if
- 1:52:26it went to the ground, which it could,
- 1:52:28um, with uh
- 1:52:30Oh, yeah, she's like a
- 1:52:31octopus. She was just trying to grab
- 1:52:33people and grab them.
- 1:52:34like but you can you can obviously see
- 1:52:36that you can stay away from going on the
- 1:52:37ground with her. And then with, um,
- 1:52:39Holly it would be, um, very tough cuz
- 1:52:42she's also a boxer. Be tough standing, I
- 1:52:44think a lot I think she's done a lot of
- 1:52:46practice with wrestling and jiu-jitsu,
- 1:52:47so it'd be This makes sense because you
- 1:52:50the controversy with the Ronda fight
- 1:52:52against Holly was that the coach got
- 1:52:55criticized for making her believe that
- 1:52:57she could beat him beat her standing up
- 1:53:00rather than taking it to the ground. I
- 1:53:01think it was an Armenian or somebody
- 1:53:03that was involved in it that was some
- 1:53:04controversy involved in it.
- 1:53:05I had some inside stuff, too, and this
- 1:53:07might have been it but somebody went up
- 1:53:08to me another comedian. I don't want to
- 1:53:10say his name but he knows who he is. He
- 1:53:12went up to me he goes Vinny bet and he's
- 1:53:13never talked about gambling. He goes bet
- 1:53:15the house on Holly Holm. I was like how
- 1:53:17do you know? Honestly Gina he goes she's
- 1:53:19fighting with her boyfriend. He goes
- 1:53:20they've been in a fight. This guy's into
- 1:53:22the whole he knows all the UFC people.
- 1:53:23He goes they're they're arguing they're
- 1:53:25fighting she's miserable she hasn't
- 1:53:26slept and trained. And I go yeah yeah
- 1:53:28yeah yeah. And we were watching it
- 1:53:29together she kicked her in the face and
- 1:53:30he goes I told you so and I was like
- 1:53:32damn it.
- 1:53:33Who do you like today? Who do you like
- 1:53:34today? From from the men's side. Who do
- 1:53:35you like today? Gosh I was really
- 1:53:38happy for Brandon Vera
- 1:53:41the other night. It was awesome to see
- 1:53:42him. He's been through a lot. Um
- 1:53:46You know I've actually really been into
- 1:53:47the One Championship
- 1:53:49Muay Thai and MMA fights a lot and I
- 1:53:52think that they have some of the best
- 1:53:54most quality fighters that are you know
- 1:53:56actually worldwide. And so if One
- 1:53:58Championship were to you know bring
- 1:54:00their promotion here um
- 1:54:03you know that would be really
- 1:54:03interesting. My first love is Muay Thai.
- 1:54:06So like Kevin Ross who is my partner
- 1:54:10was one of the first American
- 1:54:13you know uh
- 1:54:15I guess legends that you'd say that made
- 1:54:17it popular. Um
- 1:54:19and
- 1:54:19Yeah there he is. He's He's at home
- 1:54:22right now taking care of the chickens
- 1:54:24and the
- 1:54:26And and the country has just made him
- 1:54:28look that much better. He retired.
- 1:54:29pregnant horse. And the pregnant horse.
- 1:54:31Yeah we have a pregnant horse. I was
- 1:54:32like you know something's having not me.
- 1:54:35But someone's having someone's having a
- 1:54:37baby on this property. Gina who who
- 1:54:38would you say is the the number one the
- 1:54:41top male UFC fighter of all time? Who
- 1:54:44would you have to if you had to pick one
- 1:54:45who would be your number
- 1:54:47one that you got like you have to hey we
- 1:54:49were picking bonds bond people who would
- 1:54:51be
- 1:54:51Well I I might be the wrong person to
- 1:54:53ask that.
- 1:54:55Why? Because I'm more of like a if you I
- 1:54:57don't care if a fighter loses or wins.
- 1:55:00Yeah. Um I follow I like the people's
- 1:55:02champ. I like the people that uh that
- 1:55:05know how to win the crowd
- 1:55:07and those are the people like the Diaz
- 1:55:09brothers. I feel like they always win a
- 1:55:11win the crowd. Yeah. Um Are you Conor?
- 1:55:14Are you Conor McGregor?
- 1:55:15a Masvidal guy? Um, yeah. He was the
- 1:55:18crowd. Yeah, I love anybody who wins the
- 1:55:20crowd. I think Conor has
- 1:55:22he's incredible. I mean, we we I love
- 1:55:24big personalities like that that that
- 1:55:27shake the room, you know, and so I feel
- 1:55:29like he wins the crowd and when he
- 1:55:31doesn't feel like he's winning, he's
- 1:55:32going to disappoint the crowd and he's
- 1:55:33going to make you feel it and it's going
- 1:55:35to like take away from the people's
- 1:55:36champ. Yeah, so he's got a very
- 1:55:37beautiful talent there. Donald Cerrone
- 1:55:39is incredible. I worked with him. Um,
- 1:55:41he's like a big brother that never stops
- 1:55:43like poking you. But um Interesting. But
- 1:55:46an incredible actor by the way. We put
- 1:55:47him in Terror in the Prairie and um
- 1:55:49it's a, you know, Randy Couture Randy
- 1:55:52Couture is a legend and a beautiful
- 1:55:55person. So, there's just so many that I
- 1:55:57personally worked with.
- 1:55:59Well, Gina, this has been a blast. Uh,
- 1:56:01can you tell the audience if there's
- 1:56:03anything you're currently working on or
- 1:56:05anything that you that they can follow
- 1:56:07you on?
- 1:56:08Uh, uh,
- 1:56:09be great for them to know so they can
- 1:56:11support. Yeah, I um
- 1:56:13well, I'd first love to thank you all
- 1:56:16for your support already because had
- 1:56:18that support not happened, I wouldn't be
- 1:56:20sitting here. I would still be in the
- 1:56:21desert. So, I've got a fighting chance
- 1:56:23here and I support and that came from
- 1:56:26the support of so many for so long
- 1:56:28around the world.
- 1:56:30Um, so that's what I appreciate. Um,
- 1:56:32what I'm working on right now is I have
- 1:56:35um
- 1:56:35kind of revamped and cleaned out my team
- 1:56:38and I've got a a new manager I'll
- 1:56:40announce who was a producer and now he's
- 1:56:43um taking me on as his first client. So,
- 1:56:47I have a
- 1:56:48I'm building up this new team who have
- 1:56:51um existing, you know, properties but
- 1:56:53also um things that I am creating. And
- 1:56:56so,
- 1:56:57um I want to give somebody to some
- 1:56:59something to I want to give you all
- 1:57:01something to root for. Um it's been
- 1:57:04it's been a a tough couple years trying
- 1:57:05to get this monkey off of my back. And
- 1:57:07so I feel
- 1:57:08I'm at the start of that. And
- 1:57:10I'm so excited to keep creating cuz I
- 1:57:13think that um
- 1:57:15I'm just going to surprise I'm going to
- 1:57:17surprise the world in ways that I
- 1:57:18already have. And I look forward to
- 1:57:20doing that. I love it, Rob. If we can
- 1:57:22put anything to direct social or
- 1:57:24website, whatever may be, so the
- 1:57:26audience can go follow and
- 1:57:28uh we're here to support you. We're
