1. 0:00here's my thought on it i love the game
2. 0:01of golf um golf's probably my favorite
3. 0:04sport i don't think the pga tour has
4. 0:06anything to worry about
5. 0:07until the live golf tour or group gets
6. 0:11tv rights
7. 0:12i don't think the interest for
8. 0:15many people is going to be high
9. 0:17and for the players that chose
10. 0:19and they had their own opinion or right
11. 0:22to go choose whatever their reason was
12. 0:24it's theirs but if i'm the pga tour
13. 0:27stephen i look at it and michael and
14. 0:29molly i look at it like i'm the nfl
15. 0:31i'm the king of the castle
16. 0:33and we've seen so many different kinds
17. 0:36of leagues try to form
18. 0:38in the football world that haven't been
19. 0:41successful
20. 0:42and
21. 0:43it's because like stephen a when i was a
22. 0:45kid and i wanted to go dream of playing
23. 0:48in the nfl i had the dream of playing in
24. 0:51the nfl because it was the nfl it had
25. 0:54the history of it i grew up watching
26. 0:56steve young and brett favre and john
27. 0:58elway wanted to be those guys and then
28. 1:00peyton manning and wanting to beat and i
29. 1:02wanted to
30. 1:03climb that mountain and go reach the
31. 1:05very top
32. 1:07and i think that's why so many players
33. 1:09are on tour is it because when they were
34. 1:11kids and they watched it on television
35. 1:14that became their dream and i don't
36. 1:17think that unless the pga tour starts to
37. 1:20lose television rights to networks or
38. 1:23lose young superstars i just don't see
39. 1:28how whoever goes over there
40. 1:30um unless they're the young superstar
41. 1:32how it poses a real threat to the tour
42. 1:34because they're the king of the castle
43. 1:36let me chime in here
44. 1:37because i'm not i don't disagree with
45. 1:40with either your points they're both on
46. 1:43point and i get that
47. 1:45what bothers me about this story and why
48. 1:48i take it with the seriousness that i
49. 1:50believe it deserves even though i am far
50. 1:52from some golf aficionado i leave that
51. 1:54to you michael and i'm not even that big
52. 1:56of a golf fan
53. 1:58this is why the story is serious to me
54. 2:03people jumped all over phil mickelson
55. 2:06for his comments months ago that forced
56. 2:09him to disappear for a couple of months
57. 2:11and going to hibernation and all of this
58. 2:12other stuff we got all of that right
59. 2:15and you're doing business with saudi
60. 2:17arabia our government does business with
61. 2:20saudi arabia our government does
62. 2:23business with china and people try to
63. 2:26get us to
64. 2:28react
65. 2:30with fervor towards golfers
66. 2:33individuals playing a sport that decided
67. 2:35to take some money that that was that's
68. 2:37out there that's real slick and i don't
69. 2:40like that and so to me there's a bigger
70. 2:42picture here that i'm
71. 2:44that i think that phil mickelson has
72. 2:46craved for us to address
73. 2:49go back to his comments in february i
74. 2:51believe it was michael and he was
75. 2:52talking about i know you know this
76. 2:54government and the heinous reputation
77. 2:56that it had in a washington post
78. 2:59journalist that was murdered and the
79. 3:01wife is talking about or the fiance
80. 3:02rather it was was talking about how the
81. 3:05players should be panned from the pga
82. 3:07she's entitled to opinions i understand
83. 3:09that she comes from a heartfelt place
84. 3:11and i and our love and condolences go
85. 3:12out to her what i'm saying is let's
86. 3:15focus on what phil mickelson was saying
87. 3:18he said
88. 3:20maybe
89. 3:21by doing this the money that's out there
90. 3:23the option that's out there will force
91. 3:26the pga to step up to the plate and
92. 3:28treat us better i'm paraphrasing michael
93. 3:30but you know that's that's the jokes of
94. 3:32what he was talking about and so what
95. 3:34i'm saying is what about that michael
96. 3:36collins is here on the show with us on

102. 3:49the pga should be treating them better
103. 3:54absolutely at a point and one of the
104. 3:56golfers that i spoke to last week on the
105. 3:58corn fairy tour said this
106. 4:00i'm not one of the big name golfers out
107. 4:02there but i've been on both the pga tour
108. 4:04and the corn fairy tour for a long time
109. 4:06and this dude's been very successful
110. 4:09he told me straight up the mid-level
111. 4:11guys have been telling the tour for a
112. 4:13long time hey man we got some issues and
113. 4:16you know what it's been falling on deaf
114. 4:18ears and dan to your point i love the
115. 4:20fact that you brought up the nfl on this
116. 4:22one because i talked to a caddy two
117. 4:24nights ago who used that exact same
118. 4:26thing but you know what that caddy also
119. 4:28said
120. 4:29what other options other than the nfl
121. 4:31are there and when have players from the
122. 4:33nfl ever had some other organization
123. 4:36come in and go
124. 4:38um we got a lot more money than the nfl
125. 4:41we got a lot more money than the nfl so
126. 4:44when you talk about these guys dream of
127. 4:46playing on the pga tour but here's the
128. 4:48deal though

130. 4:52the pga tour players do not own their
131. 4:55own nils
132. 4:58right they don't own their own nils
133. 5:00because they're owned by the pga tour
134. 5:03right
135. 5:04right that's exactly so literally dion
136. 5:06sanders dion sanders could recruit a kid
137. 5:09who's going to make more money off his
138. 5:11nil then a pga tour pro will be able to
139. 5:15go ahead dan so don't tell me there
140. 5:16aren't issues q school this year just q
141. 5:20school will only get you to the corn
142. 5:22fairy tour you got to pay 6 500 entry
143. 5:25fee it went up doubled in price to get
144. 5:28on the corn just for an opportunity to
145. 5:30get on a corn ferry tour and if you go
146. 5:32through all three stages and then play
147. 5:34the first four events two in bahamas
148. 5:37panama and venezuela you could be out
149. 5:39thirty thousand dollars before you make
150. 5:42a check
151. 5:43um yeah yeah real quick
152. 5:46dan cause i just wanna say don't you
153. 5:48think it would be a little tempting if
154. 5:49you're making the league minimum say as
155. 5:50an nfl player and you have an
156. 5:52opportunity to become a
157. 5:53multi-millionaire
158. 5:55yeah absolutely but eventually they
159. 5:58can't just keep shell out shelling out
160. 6:00money for
161. 6:01players that aren't going to produce
162. 6:03some form of revenue again tv deal
163. 6:05listen phil mickelson was one of my
164. 6:06favorite golfers ever phil didn't go to
165. 6:09the to live tour to
166. 6:11be some representatives for the pga tour
167. 6:13needing to make a change he went for the
168. 6:15money and that's totally his
169. 6:17prerogative the same with dj i look at
170. 6:20it the same way rory does rory talked
171. 6:23about francis wimette and the history of
172. 6:25golf when i think of golf i think a
173. 6:27tiger at augusta rory at jack's place i
174. 6:30think of speed that so when you've got
175. 6:32guys like rory and john rom talking
176. 6:35about what golf actually means to them
