- 0:26entered [music]
- 0:27the mouth cave.
- 0:29Watch out for the giant chomping teeth.
- 0:32Chomp. Chomp. Crunch.
- 0:35Oh my goodness. The teeth are [music]
- 0:37crushing the broccoli into tiny little
- 0:39pieces.
- 0:41Look. It's turning [music] into a soft
- 0:44mushy blob.
- 0:46But wait.
- 0:48Where is [music] our broccoli going now?
- 0:51Can you guess what happens next? Wee!
- 0:54The broccoli is sliding [music] down a
- 0:56long squishy tunnel.
- 0:58This special food slide is called the
- 1:00esophagus, also known as the food pipe.
- 1:05The esophagus pushes food from your
- 1:06mouth all the way down to your [music]
- 1:08stomach.
- 1:10Cool, right? Uh-oh.
- 1:12Here comes the stomach factory.
- 1:16Look, the stomach mixer is starting up.
- 1:18Glorp. Splash. Squish.
- 1:22What do you think the stomach is doing?
- 1:23[music]
- 1:24A, making shoes. B, sleeping. Or C,
- 1:30mixing food.
- 1:31>> [music]
- 1:32>> Yes! It's mixing the food.
- 1:34>> [applause]
- 1:35>> The stomach churns and squishes the
- 1:37broccoli with powerful digestive juices
- 1:40until [music] it turns into a thick
- 1:42soupy liquid.
- 1:44Woah. That's [music] amazing.
- 1:48But wait a second.
- 1:49What happens to the broccoli juice
- 1:51[music] now?
- 1:52Where does it go next?
- 1:54That's right. It travels into the small
- 1:58intestine, [music]
- 1:59the nutrient factory.
- 2:02Woah, doesn't this place look like
- 2:04[music] a giant twisty maze?
- 2:07As the broccoli juice travels through
- 2:09the maze, tiny parts inside the
- 2:11intestine absorb [music]
- 2:12all the important nutrients from the
- 2:14food.
- 2:16And guess what? Those nutrients travel
- 2:18[music] through your blood to give your
- 2:20whole body energy.
- 2:22That's what helps [music] you run, jump,
- 2:25think, play, and grow.
- 2:28Pretty mind-blowing, huh?
- 2:30But wait, [music] is the broccoli
- 2:32adventure over yet?
- 2:34Nope. Now, [music] the leftovers move
- 2:37into the large intestine, the final stop
- 2:40in [music] the digestion journey.
- 2:43Here, your body absorbs extra [music]
- 2:45water from the leftover food.
- 2:47But can you guess what happens to the
- 2:49waste that's left behind?
- 2:52That becomes [music]
- 2:53your poop.
- 2:55Yep, the stuff you flush down the
- 2:57toilet.
- 2:59Your body is awesome. All right, little
- 3:02geniuses, it's quiz time.
