Detachment Is Power | How I Transformed Crippling Insecurity Into Gleaming Confidence — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00Hey everyone, welcome back to my
- 0:02channel. Today I want to talk about
- 0:04something that completely transformed my
- 0:06life. That is detachment and how it can
- 0:09transform yours as well and unlock your
- 0:12highest power. I want to talk about
- 0:14detachment not in the cold emotionist
- 0:17way that people like to imagine, but
- 0:20rather in the powerful liberating way
- 0:23that helped me find peace within myself.
- 0:26So, let's dive deep into what detachment
- 0:29really means, why it's misunderstood,
- 0:32and why embracing it gave me strength I
- 0:34knew I never had. So, part one of this
- 0:37video was all about what is detachment
- 0:40really. Detachment isn't about caring.
- 0:44It's about caring without clinging.
- 0:48Like, if you can think of, let's say for
- 0:51instance, a material possession you
- 0:53might have, maybe it's your car. You
- 0:55care about your car because it gets you
- 0:57from point A to point B. However, if you
- 1:02cling to that car, then you protect it
- 1:05with like every ounce of your life and
- 1:07you may even go to the extent by not
- 1:10taking it out on the road and allowing
- 1:12it to get you to where you need to go.
- 1:15However, if you are detached from the
- 1:17car, still caring, without clinging, you
- 1:20can still take care of that car without
- 1:23fearing that it's going to be scratched
- 1:25or that you're going to get into a crash
- 1:27on the road because you trust that the
- 1:30car is going to get you to where you
- 1:32want. And even if something bad does
- 1:35happen to that vehicle, you still know
- 1:38within that everything is going to be
- 1:40okay. And you show gratitude for the
- 1:42moments that that vehicle served you.
- 1:44And you can also think about it like
- 1:46this. Hold sand tightly in your fist. It
- 1:50slips away, but when you open your palm,
- 1:54it's gently there. That's what
- 1:56detachment is in an analogy. The second
- 2:00part of this that I want to emphasize is
- 2:02why detachment is power. You stop
- 2:06reacting and you start responding when
- 2:09you become detached from whatever it
- 2:12might be in your life.
- 2:14When you are detached, you are no longer
- 2:17triggered by every little thing. You
- 2:20gain emotional clarity with detachment.
- 2:22You also begin to reclaim your energy.
- 2:26Instead of pouring your soul into things
- 2:28you can't control, you invest in what
- 2:30truly matters. It kind of coincides with
- 2:34the analogy that you cannot pour from an
- 2:38empty cup. You care for yourself before
- 2:41you care for others. And I know this
- 2:43might sound selfish to a lot of people,
- 2:46but that is just the natural law of how
- 2:48things work. If you are trying to get to
- 2:53point A to point B in, let's say, a
- 2:56broken down vehicle, you have to work on
- 2:59repairing that vehicle first before
- 3:02getting yourself to the destination that
- 3:04you want to get to. This also works in
- 3:07the sense that if you want to go
- 3:09extraordinary lengths in your life to
- 3:11help others or achieve audacious
- 3:14ambitious goals, you have to focus on
- 3:17healing yourself too if you have any
- 3:20subconscious negative thoughts about
- 3:22yourself. If you have trauma or anything
- 3:24that might be causing some inner
- 3:26turbulence and when detachment comes
- 3:29into the game, you become unshakable.
- 3:32Whether that's somebody praising you or
- 3:35criticizing you, you really don't care
- 3:37anymore because you become so confident
- 3:40and so secure in yourself that you carry
- 3:43yourself with your chest high everywhere
- 3:46you walk. Walking like you own the air.
- 3:49It really doesn't matter anymore how
- 3:52anybody responds to you. The only person
- 3:55whose opinions matter to you are your
- 3:58own opinions. I will include the example
- 4:01of my own. When I was a teenager, I was
- 4:05constantly worried about what others
- 4:08were thinking of me. And this didn't
- 4:11come naturally because I was bullied as
- 4:14a child. And that led me to become
- 4:16highly insecure. And being that I grew
- 4:20up in isolation, I constantly ruminated
- 4:23about this. And I was insecure and
- 4:27attached to so many things. Whether it
- 4:29be my physical appearance, my weight, my
- 4:32personality, the way that I talked, or
- 4:35the way that I simply expressed myself.
- 4:38I cared how other people reacted to
- 4:40that. And I actually came to the point
- 4:43where I was delusional, where I thought
- 4:46other people were trying to plot against
- 4:48me and constantly had negative thoughts
- 4:50about myself because I was so attached
- 4:52to what other people were thinking that
- 4:55I was almost hallucinating. I was living
- 4:57in this delusional world where everybody
- 4:59was against me and I kept feeding onto
- 5:02the idea that I was not good enough to
- 5:05be liked by others. But I had to take
- 5:08that brave step outside of my comfort
- 5:11zone and start distancing myself from
- 5:14the things that were holding me back.
- 5:16That's when detachment came naturally to
- 5:18me as it did when I was younger. I began
- 5:21to feel super confident and I started
- 5:23crushing every little goal that I have
- 5:25always wanted to achieve. I begin to
- 5:28feel so confident that nowadays I just
- 5:31walk in the streets with not a care in
- 5:33the world, wearing whatever I want,
- 5:35saying whatever I want without obviously
- 5:38maybe not saying whatever I want, but
- 5:41expressing myself without the concern
- 5:44for what others were thinking about me.
- 5:47I can speak publicly without stuttering
- 5:49anymore. I can have a face tof face
- 5:52conversation with somebody, be looking
- 5:54them straight into the eye, and not be
- 5:56worried about whether they're thinking
- 5:58she's too extra. You know what I mean?
- 6:01When you become detached from whether
- 6:03it's material possessions or what other
- 6:06people think, that's when your power
- 6:08really starts to shine. Another thing
- 6:10that I want to talk about here is
- 6:13detachment in relationships. A lot of
- 6:16people think that detachment can be
- 6:19toxic when it comes to relationships.
- 6:21That can be partially true. However,
- 6:24detachment is very healthy when it comes
- 6:26to relationships. Here's an example I
- 6:29want to provide. I used to be deeply
- 6:31attached to people's approval. Like I
- 6:33had previously insinuated, if somebody
- 6:36pulled away, I would spiral. I would
- 6:38overthink. I would analyze. And I would
- 6:41actually lose sleep at night. But once I
- 6:43learned to detach from that by whether
- 6:46it was working or pursuing something I
- 6:48was really passionate about, I realized
- 6:50that I can love somebody deeply and
- 6:53still let them go. Their presence
- 6:55doesn't define my worth anymore. That
- 6:57shift completely changed everything and
- 7:00I stopped chasing and started attracting
- 7:02everything that I ever wanted in my
- 7:04life. Again, I previously insinuated
- 7:06this. I just want to structure it a
- 7:09little bit more. I had this dream that I
- 7:11was obsessed with and part of it
- 7:13revolved around being a content creator
- 7:16that I am now. But I thought achieving
- 7:19it would finally make me happy. But the
- 7:22more I clung to this idea, the more
- 7:24anxious I become. And out of fear of not
- 7:27being perfect on my first video, I
- 7:30actually avoided uploading content
- 7:33altogether. Then I detached from this
- 7:37anxiety that I had of not being perfect
- 7:41in my first video. And my first video
- 7:44wasn't great, but I really had to set my
- 7:47ego aside and tell myself that you are
- 7:51going to miss 100% of the shots that you
- 7:55don't take. Another example is inner
- 7:58peace. And I think this is probably the
- 8:00most important one because this comes
- 8:03from healing within. I realized that I
- 8:07was attached to my own thoughts and my
- 8:10doubts, especially the negative ones. I
- 8:14believed every fear that I had, every
- 8:16doubt. But then I started simply
- 8:19observing them instead of identifying
- 8:21them. Here's what I would do. I would
- 8:23just sit with my thoughts. I wouldn't
- 8:25ruminate on them. I would just watch
- 8:28them almost like in a meditative kind of
- 8:31way, but I wouldn't let I would not
- 8:34suppress my emotions while I was doing
- 8:37this. I just simply let my emotions pass
- 8:40through my body and observe them until
- 8:43it was gone. This is the number one
- 8:46technique that allowed me to detach from
- 8:49almost anything. Like, it's crazy. It
- 8:54works like magic. If you guys try this
- 8:56too, I promise it works. You just got to
- 8:58put the reps in and you got to stay
- 8:59consistent if you want to actually feel
- 9:01the results of detachment. And yes, I
- 9:04would also like to include that
- 9:05meditation helped as well. Um, I would
- 9:08say journaling also helped, but most of
- 9:11all, self-compassion
- 9:13helped the most, especially considering
- 9:16that I was very critical of myself and
- 9:20was more of a pessimist back then. I
- 9:24stopped fighting my emotions and
- 9:26suppressing them and instead I decided
- 9:29to start listening to them and observing
- 9:31them. That is how I found peace within
- 9:35myself. My goal of being a content
- 9:38creator on YouTube is to help you guys
- 9:40overcome these fears and help you become
- 9:42your best selves because I was in the
- 9:46same spot once. I was in a very dark
- 9:49place that I never thought I would be
- 9:52able to get out of. However, I had to
- 9:54set my ego aside and step out of my
- 9:57comfort zone to get to where I am now.
- 9:59Living a happy life, being grateful for
- 10:02everything that I have manifested and
- 10:04accomplished. My final thoughts on
- 10:07today's topic is that I want to say that
- 10:10detachment isn't completely about being
- 10:12indifferent. Rather, I think it's about
- 10:15being free. I think it's about being
- 10:17free to love without fear. I think it's
- 10:21about being free to dream without
- 10:24desperation and being free to live
- 10:26without being chained to outcomes. If
- 10:29you're struggling with attachment,
- 10:32whether to people, goals, or even your
- 10:34own identity, know this that peace is
- 10:38possible for you. Thank you guys so much
- 10:40for coming back to my channel and
- 10:42watching today's video. If this
- 10:43resonated with you, drop a comment below
- 10:46or share your own journey even. I love
- 10:48to hear your own story and point of
- 10:51view. Stay grounded and stay free.
