- 0:00Hey Bible nerds, this is Dr. Manny
- 0:02Orango. Welcome to the Bible department
- 0:04podcast powered by Arma. We are walking
- 0:08through the entire Bible in a year. You
- 0:10can go to the description or the bible
- 0:13department.com to download a reading
- 0:15plan and join the journey
- 0:24family. Welcome to day 301.
- 0:28Can you believe it? We're 311 days in. I
- 0:31don't know how many days left. I guess
- 0:34what? 54.
- 0:37I think 54 + 311 is 365 maybe. Anyway,
- 0:42my degree is not in math. It's in Bible.
- 0:44I am so excited that you're here with us
- 0:46today. We are finishing up the book of
- 0:50Proverbs. That's right. Today, we've got
- 0:52chapters 28, 29, 30, and 31. If you have
- 0:57not done the reading, how about you stop
- 1:00the video, pause the audio, go get the
- 1:03reading done. Solid reading today, we've
- 1:06got a good mix of authors, contributors,
- 1:10writers, and so we're going to talk
- 1:12about that when we get into our context
- 1:14clues. But if you haven't done the
- 1:16reading, I promise you it's a little bit
- 1:18longer than normal, right? We've been
- 1:20doing about three Proverbs a day. So,
- 1:22this is four Proverbs, but you're you're
- 1:25good. I promise it's not it's not going
- 1:27to take you that long. All right, for
- 1:28those of us who have done the reading,
- 1:30let's dive in. Okay, let's do context
- 1:33clues right up at the top. I actually
- 1:35want to start in a maybe an odd place
- 1:38today or surprising place. Uh I actually
- 1:42want to read Jeremiah 18:18 to us today.
- 1:46Okay, Jeremiah 18:18. Dr. Manny, why are
- 1:49you reading Jeremiah 18:18? Well,
- 1:51because it is going to tell us about
- 1:53three groups of teachers that Israel
- 1:56has. And one of these groups is directly
- 1:59connected to the content that we have
- 2:02here in the book of Proverbs. Okay. So,
- 2:03Jeremiah 18:18, the people of Judah are
- 2:07wanting to, you know, silence Jeremiah.
- 2:10Not a big fan. All the stuff that
- 2:12Jeremiah's got to say is not popular.
- 2:15Okay. Uh so here's what they say in
- 2:18Jeremiah 18:18.
- 2:21They said, "Come, let's make plans
- 2:24against Jeremiah to persecute him, to
- 2:27ensnare him, to imprison him." Okay?
- 2:29Let's make plans against Jeremiah for
- 2:32the teaching of the law by the priest
- 2:34will not cease. Okay? The teaching of
- 2:37the law by the priest will not cease.
- 2:41Nor will counsel from the wise, nor the
- 2:45word from the prophets. Three distinct
- 2:47groups, the teaching of the law by the
- 2:49priests, nor the counsel from the wise,
- 2:52nor the word from the prophets. So come,
- 2:57let's attack him with our tongues and
- 3:00pay no attention to anything he says. So
- 3:03Jeremiah 18:18 gives us three groups.
- 3:07Okay, three groups. priests who teach
- 3:10the law, prophets who give oracles,
- 3:15spoken words, the rama word of God, and
- 3:18then counsel from the wise. So, you just
- 3:21wanted to figure out, okay, like like
- 3:23what do we have in the in the Hebrew
- 3:26scriptures, like in the Hebrew Bible or
- 3:28the Old Testament? Well, I would say
- 3:30you've got the teaching of the law,
- 3:32right? like that's the the Torah, the
- 3:34the section of the Bible that we know as
- 3:38Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and
- 3:40Deuteronomy. And then we're going to
- 3:42have a ton of prophetic content. We've
- 3:45gone through a lot of that. So, the
- 3:48Torah, the Nevim, okay? And then the
- 3:51Ketuim, the writings, but really it's
- 3:54the council of the wise. Okay? This
- 3:56wisdom literature that we've got comes
- 4:00to us from the council of the wise. And
- 4:03so, uh, wisdom is is seen as an
- 4:08authoritative,
- 4:10uh, source of God's word. Okay? So, the
- 4:14wise men of Israel, okay, the wise men
- 4:18of Israel, just wisdom. Okay? There's
- 4:21the in the same way that you know how to
- 4:22categorize someone as a priest or you
- 4:24know how to categorize someone as a
- 4:26prophet. As you enter into the world of
- 4:28the Bible, I want you to begin to
- 4:30realize that there's a category of of
- 4:33just wise people that they're not
- 4:36priests, they're not prophets, they're
- 4:38just people with wisdom. And so, uh
- 4:41we've got entire books of the Bible that
- 4:44come from this school of wisdom or this
- 4:47source of wisdom or wise people. Okay.
- 4:50So, uh we're going to get a little bit
- 4:52of that today. We've already been
- 4:54exposed to that as we've been reading
- 4:56Psalms and Proverbs. Both of these are
- 4:59considered wisdom literature and they
- 5:01are both found in the last section of
- 5:03the Hebrew Bible, which is the Ketuim,
- 5:08the writings, Ketuim, Tanakh. Okay,
- 5:10remember Torah, Neim, Ketuim. All right,
- 5:13let's dive into some nerdy nuggets.
- 5:14Okay, I'm going to give you my top five
- 5:17proverbs for the day. Okay, my top five
- 5:20verses for the day. You know, we've done
- 5:22five, we've done seven, we've done 10,
- 5:24but we're going to end off with the book
- 5:26of Proverbs with my top five. And I'm
- 5:29going to make sure that we've got uh at
- 5:31least one from every contributor for
- 5:34these last four chapters of the book of
- 5:37Proverbs that we got here. Okay, chapter
- 5:4028 is going to be more content from
- 5:44Solomon. Now the cool thing about
- 5:47everything from yesterday and today.
- 5:50Okay, so starting in chapter 25,
- 5:54I believe starting in verse 25, it says
- 5:57these it says these are more proverbs of
- 6:02Solomon compiled by men of Hezekiah,
- 6:05king of Judah. Okay, that means that in
- 6:08the same way that the book of the law
- 6:10was rediscovered or found in the time of
- 6:14Josiah know if you remember that that
- 6:16like the book of the law had just gone
- 6:18missing and they found it during
- 6:20Josiah's reign and Josiah's reign is
- 6:23kind of known as um a time of repentance
- 6:25and revival. Josiah makes sure that you
- 6:29know the idolatry is wiped out of the
- 6:31land. uh he causes the people uh to
- 6:34repent from their evil ways and return
- 6:37to the Lord and there's a revival. Okay?
- 6:40And it's centered around the discovery
- 6:41of the book of the law, the discovery of
- 6:44the word of God. So the same way that
- 6:47that is what happens during Josiah's
- 6:49reign. I want us to just go up three
- 6:51notches in the family tree. Okay? So
- 6:54Josiah's dad is Ammon. Ammon's dad is
- 6:56Manasseh. Manass's dad is Hezekiah.
- 6:59Okay? So Josiah's greatgreat great
- 7:03grandfather, no great-grandfather,
- 7:05Hezekiah. Similar kind of revival is
- 7:09going to happen in Hezekiah's time.
- 7:12Okay, so it's not all that crazy that
- 7:15old proverbs from Solomon are found and
- 7:19rediscovered during Hezekiah's reign. So
- 7:22chapter 25 starts off with this. These
- 7:24are some proverbs of Solomon compiled by
- 7:27the men of Hezekiah, king of Judah. And
- 7:30that's probably the wise men of
- 7:33Hezekiah, king of Judah, the group of
- 7:35men who would have been responsible for
- 7:37giving counsel and advice to to King
- 7:40Hezekiah. Oh, in the same way that we
- 7:43see a repentance, return to the Lord,
- 7:46revival during Josiah's reign and the
- 7:49book of the law is found, we're going to
- 7:51see that same thing during Hezekiah's
- 7:53reign. But in Hezekiah's reign, it's not
- 7:55the book of the law that that is found.
- 7:57But all these proverbs from Solomon and
- 8:01the men in Hezekiah's court who are wise
- 8:03are going to compile them. And that's
- 8:05how we get Proverbs chapters 25, 26, 27.
- 8:10All of which we studied yesterday and
- 8:1328. Okay, so that's context. That's a
- 8:17ton of context. And that's also where we
- 8:19get chapter 29. Then we get to chapter
- 8:2230. Uh we've got the sayings of a man by
- 8:25the name of Agger. Okay, Agur. Agur's
- 8:29got a lot of things to say to us. And
- 8:31then we get to chapter 31. We're going
- 8:34to get the writings of King Lemuuel.
- 8:37Okay, and he's going to learn a bunch of
- 8:39things from his mom. Now, I think this
- 8:40is really cool because the tone so far
- 8:43through the book of Proverbs has been a
- 8:45father wanting to instruct his son. But
- 8:48we're g what we're going to have from
- 8:49King Lemu is a mom giving instruction to
- 8:53her son because wisdom doesn't just come
- 8:55from men. Wisdom comes from moms to
- 8:59their boys to their daughters as well.
- 9:02Okay, so that's enough context clues.
- 9:04Let's finally dive into our nerdy
- 9:06nuggets for the day. I'm going to try to
- 9:08give you five. Okay, first is Proverbs
- 9:1128:1 and it says this. I actually have
- 9:14this tattooed on my deck. So, the wicked
- 9:18I know it by heart. The wicked man flee
- 9:20though no one pursues, but the righteous
- 9:21are as bold as lions. I love that. The
- 9:24wicked man flees though no one pursues.
- 9:26But the righteous are as bold as lions.
- 9:27This verse is saying two things. The
- 9:30first thing, sin will make you paranoid.
- 9:32The wicked man flees though no one's
- 9:34pursuing. Whenever there's sin in your
- 9:36life, it just makes you like suspicious
- 9:38and paranoid and like you just you
- 9:40always got to you keep your head on a
- 9:42swivel cuz you just don't know what's
- 9:43going to happen because you really are
- 9:46struck with a guilty conscience. So the
- 9:48wicked man flees. They're running away
- 9:51even though no one's running after them.
- 9:53You ever just feel guilty about sin?
- 9:54You're just kind of like, you know, you
- 9:57you just feel like everyone knows. You
- 9:59walk into church and you're like, they
- 10:00know they can see it. They they can see
- 10:02sin on me. You know, it's like, no,
- 10:05that's a literally just a guilty
- 10:07conscience. That's you. No one's looking
- 10:09at you. Somebody one time I was
- 10:11preaching. I'm preaching like, you know,
- 10:14who knows? I'm Seattle or Alabama or
- 10:16California, wherever. I'm on the road,
- 10:18which you mean I'm talking to people I
- 10:19don't know. And someone walked up to me
- 10:21and was like, "Yeah, like there was this
- 10:23point where you were talking about, you
- 10:25know, sleeping with your boyfriend and
- 10:27you looked right at me. Did you know I
- 10:29was sleeping with my boy?" I was like,
- 10:30"No, I don't. I I don't know you." And I
- 10:33was like, I don't think I was looking at
- 10:34you, ma'am. Like, I think I think you're
- 10:37fleeing though no one pursues. I think
- 10:39that's what's happening. Okay. So, the
- 10:41wicked man flees though no one pursues.
- 10:43But the righteous bold as lions. So,
- 10:46that means sin doesn't just take away,
- 10:49you know, your ability to relate to the
- 10:51Lord, but it also robs you of
- 10:52confidence. Boldness, the kind of
- 10:55confidence that you really need in order
- 10:57to go after the things that God's
- 10:59promised you. So, that's a good verse,
- 11:01man. Chapter 28:1. Proverbs chapter
- 11:0428:1. The wicked man flees, though no
- 11:06one pursues them. But the righteous,
- 11:09they're bold. There's there's a certain
- 11:11amount of boldness. If you're living in
- 11:13sin and can still be bold, oh, that's
- 11:15bold, man. That's
- 11:18that's that Hey, power to you, you know.
- 11:22Uh but most people, if there's a
- 11:24boldness issue, there may be a guilt
- 11:27issue or a sin issue. And it's important
- 11:30to address that. Okay. Anyway, all
- 11:32right. Proverbs 28 20 and 22. I wish
- 11:37that they weren't interrupted by verse
- 11:3921. We don't need verse 21. We just need
- 11:42chapter 20. Sorry, verse 20 and verse 22
- 11:44of chapter 28 says this, "A faithful
- 11:47person will be richly blessed." Praise
- 11:50God. A faithful person will be richly
- 11:52blessed. And just when you may be
- 11:54thinking to yourself, uh, it may that
- 11:56doesn't mean necessarily talking about
- 11:57money. Well, here we go. But one eager
- 12:01to get rich will not go unpunished.
- 12:04Okay, a lot there. So, the confirmation
- 12:08that we have in the second half of the
- 12:10verse means that the first half of the
- 12:11verse is talking about finances. Okay,
- 12:14it's not just blessed richly. It's
- 12:17richly blessed. That means like riches,
- 12:20monetary value, but one eager to get
- 12:23rich. Okay. So, there's a difference
- 12:26between stewarding wealth to get rich
- 12:30and being eager to get rich. And the
- 12:32Bible says being eager to get rich is an
- 12:34issue. If you're eager to get rich,
- 12:36it'll lead to impulsiveness and
- 12:38impatience, all kinds of things. Okay?
- 12:41So, you shouldn't be eager. Desire,
- 12:44awesome. Eager, not so awesome. Okay?
- 12:47Let's go to verse 22. The stingy are
- 12:50eager to get rich. Who's eager to get
- 12:53rich? stingy people. But Proverbs has
- 12:55already told us like stinginess, boo.
- 12:58Generosity, yay. Okay. Stinginess, boo.
- 13:03Okay. Stingy people are eager to get
- 13:05rich. They're always looking for a way
- 13:06to like get rich quick. They're always
- 13:08looking for a hustle. Stingy people are
- 13:10eager to get rich and are unaware that
- 13:14poverty awaits them. The very thing that
- 13:16they don't want is what they're going to
- 13:18have. Because a lot of times excelling
- 13:21in life, succeeding in life is
- 13:22counterintuitive. Okay? And you don't
- 13:24get a lot of money by eagerly pursuing
- 13:27money. You get you get you get to amass
- 13:30wealth by stewarding wealth with wisdom.
- 13:35All right. Proverbs 28 verse 13, we're
- 13:39going back just a little bit. Says,
- 13:41"Whoever conceals their sins does not
- 13:43prosper." Okay. But the one who
- 13:46confesses and renounces them finds
- 13:49mercy. There's a just I mean you just
- 13:51take the proverb at face value. Don't
- 13:54conceal sin. Confess sin and renounce.
- 13:58It's one thing to confess sin. It's a
- 14:00whole another thing to say, "Nope. What?
- 14:02That that was wrong. That was sin. I I'm
- 14:06I repent. I'm not just asking God for
- 14:09forgiveness. I'm asking that he would
- 14:11help me to transform, change. I
- 14:13renounce. I I declare that's not me.
- 14:17That sinful behavior that was not me.
- 14:20Family, the wait is over. My brand new
- 14:23book, Crushing [music] Chaos, is out now
- 14:26and available everywhere books [music]
- 14:28are sold literally today. I walked into
- 14:32a Barnes & Noble and I signed a bunch of
- 14:34copies at a physical location. So, you
- 14:37can grab this book [music] at a physical
- 14:39Barnes & Noble or you can go to a Books
- 14:41a Million or Amazon or anywhere books
- 14:45are sold and grab a copy. If you enjoy
- 14:48reading the Bible from an ancient
- 14:50perspective, if you understand that the
- 14:53beauty of scripture is actually knowing
- 14:55it in context, then you'll love this
- 14:57book. And if there's any chaos in your
- 15:00personal life, I [music] think that
- 15:02reading the Bible from an ancient
- 15:04perspective can actually help to crush
- 15:06the chaos in your life. I think this
- 15:08book is going to be a New York Times
- 15:10bestseller. I really do. I think we
- 15:12wrote a good one. I think you should get
- 15:14a copy today. All right, back to the
- 15:17episode. Now, our last two. Okay, I told
- 15:21you I'd give you five. My top five
- 15:24favorite verses of today's reading. My
- 15:26next two are going to be from Agur and
- 15:29Lemuuel. Okay, so let's take Agger. He
- 15:32says this or he writes this in Proverbs
- 15:3530:5. And man, I love this. Chapter 30
- 15:39verse 5. Every word of God is flawless.
- 15:44He is a shield to those who take refuge
- 15:47in him. Every word of God is flawless.
- 15:52The word of the Lord is flawless. It's
- 15:55like that's such a good word. That's
- 15:57such good vocabulary. God, I'm flawed,
- 16:01but your word is flawless. And not only
- 16:04is your word flawless, every one of your
- 16:07words is flawless. God, I misspe. You
- 16:10never misspeak. I say dumb things. You
- 16:12never say anything that's wrong,
- 16:14incorrect, dumb, shortsighted, anything.
- 16:17Your word is flawless. So why wouldn't I
- 16:21read it every day? Why wouldn't I study
- 16:24it every day? It's flawless. It's
- 16:26flawless. It has It has no fault. It has
- 16:30no flaw. It has no fault in it. Proverbs
- 16:33chapter 31, it's our last one. Proverbs
- 16:3531 4-7 is again King Lemuuel. So, this
- 16:40is a secular ruler. This is not a
- 16:43Christian ruler. This is not a Jewish
- 16:46ruler. Secular ruler. And what does King
- 16:49Lemieu have to say? Here we go. Start in
- 16:52verse four. It is not for kings Lemuuel.
- 16:56This is his mom giving him advice. It is
- 16:59not for kings Lemuuel. It is not for
- 17:01kings to drink wine. Not for rulers to
- 17:04crave beer, lest they drink and forget
- 17:07what has been decreed and deprive all
- 17:09the oppressed of their rights. Let beer
- 17:12be for those who are perishing. Wine for
- 17:15those who are in anguish. Let them drink
- 17:19and forget their poverty and remember
- 17:22their misery no more. Hey Lemu, wine
- 17:27beer not for you. Why? Not cuz it's a
- 17:31sin. Proverbs
- 17:3331 4-7 does not say that Lemu should
- 17:38abstain from wine and beer because it's
- 17:40a sin. Says because it's not what rulers
- 17:44do. It's not what kings do. And I want
- 17:48to just sub out the word king and put
- 17:49the word leader. It's not what leaders
- 17:52do. So the reason I would ask people who
- 17:55serve at the garden, hey, if you're
- 17:58going to be a director, if you're going
- 17:59to be a team lead, mm- no alcohol, has
- 18:03nothing to do with it being sin. Has
- 18:06everything to do with there are certain
- 18:08things leaders don't do. This has
- 18:10nothing to do with sin. Has everything
- 18:12to do with leadership. What does what
- 18:14does it say? It is not for kings. Let me
- 18:17well in the ancient world kings actually
- 18:20got the best wine. The choicest of wines
- 18:24was reserved for kings. So this is
- 18:27countercultural. This isn't just
- 18:29countercultural like for our culture
- 18:31today. It's countercultural in the
- 18:33actual culture that it comes from that a
- 18:36mom would tell his son tell her son no
- 18:39no no. If you're going to be a king, if
- 18:41you're going to be a ruler, there are
- 18:43certain sacrifices that you have to make
- 18:45because a leadership is all about
- 18:47sacrifices. It's not about privileges.
- 18:49If you're in leadership because of the
- 18:52privileges, oh, you're you're not going
- 18:55to be a leader long cuz you're going to
- 18:56realize, oh, leadership comes with
- 18:59scrutiny. It comes with people watching
- 19:01you. It comes with responsibilities. It
- 19:04comes with you having to be exemplary.
- 19:05Leadership is not just about a reserved
- 19:07parking spot and a title and a reserve
- 19:10seat. No, no, no. Don't get it twisted.
- 19:13Leadership is about restraint. It's
- 19:15about all the things you can't do
- 19:16anymore. Cuz now you're a king. Now
- 19:19you're a ruler. Now you're a leader. And
- 19:20maybe you were thinking to yourself, I
- 19:22can't wait to be king, man. I get to
- 19:23drink the best wine. And here comes mom
- 19:26with some advice. Hey, even though it's
- 19:28available to you, I'm going to tell you
- 19:30right now, it's not for kings. Not for
- 19:32kings. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope.
- 19:34Because the whole nation is dependent
- 19:36upon you making good decisions. And what
- 19:38happens when you need to make a good
- 19:40decision and let's say a poor person
- 19:43needs their rights defended and you
- 19:47deprive them of their rights
- 19:49unintentionally. You was just trying to
- 19:51go have a good time. You just trying to
- 19:52drink and now you've created a domino
- 19:54effect of not loving the people or the
- 19:58subjects of your kingdom. Well, Lemuuel,
- 20:01no. No, no, no, no, no. wine, beer, not
- 20:04for not for rulers, not for kings, not
- 20:06for leaders. So the real question is not
- 20:09can I drink alcohol? Is is drinking
- 20:12okay? That's not really the question.
- 20:14The question is how far in leadership do
- 20:16I want to go? How high up the kingdom
- 20:18ladder? Not the corporate ladder. How
- 20:20high up the kingdom ladder do I want to
- 20:23climb? It's one thing to climb a
- 20:24corporate ladder. It's a whole another
- 20:25thing to climb the kingdom ladder. To
- 20:27climb the kingdom ladder, oh man, it
- 20:30means that you become a servant. It
- 20:31means that you become humble. Means that
- 20:33you become teachable. It means that you
- 20:35become someone who give up I'll give up
- 20:37alcohol. Sure. Easy. Whatever. I I don't
- 20:39care. I'll give up anything. Because
- 20:41nothing compares to being used by God.
- 20:45Nothing. And I'll never let anything any
- 20:47pleasure of the world, any privilege,
- 20:50any right come in between me and being
- 20:53used by God in a great way. I want to be
- 20:55used by God in a great way. Okay. Those
- 20:58are my five verses that I think and I I
- 21:00I can't drive by those. Uh we got to
- 21:03stop. We got to get out. We got to take
- 21:05a picture. Can't just drive past it.
- 21:07It's like, oo, those are the five verses
- 21:09that I'm just like, "Yeah, man. Get out
- 21:10the car. Come on. Get your arm around
- 21:13that verse. Put up your peace sign.
- 21:15Let's take a picture. Let's post that on
- 21:17Instagram." That's a good verse right
- 21:18there. All right. Timeless truth for the
- 21:20day. This entire book is going to end
- 21:24with a wife of noble character. Now,
- 21:27there are two ways to interpret this.
- 21:29First, it's talking about a literal
- 21:30woman, which is possible. However, I
- 21:33know a lot of women who read Proverbs 31
- 21:37and just go, "This is no way this could
- 21:40be talking about a real woman."
- 21:42Actually, when they read it, they feel
- 21:43inadequate cuz they're like, "What woman
- 21:46could actually live up to this?" And
- 21:48there are some women who are like,
- 21:50"Nope, I'm a Proverbs 31 woman." And it
- 21:52becomes a standard for them. So, not all
- 21:53women feel the same. But I just want to
- 21:55throw maybe a curveball and say, could
- 21:58it be that what the writers of Proverbs
- 22:01want is for you to marry wisdom? And
- 22:06when wisdom becomes your wife, wisdom
- 22:09will bring all the benefits of a wife
- 22:12and noble character. Maybe wisdom is the
- 22:15wife of noble character. Once you get
- 22:18wisdom in your life, once you marry,
- 22:21wisdom, it's like wisdom will begin to
- 22:24conduct the affairs of your life. Wisdom
- 22:26will do all kinds of stuff. And
- 22:28regardless of how you interpret this, I
- 22:30would say that God doesn't choose
- 22:34spouses for anybody. He doesn't do it
- 22:36anywhere in the Bible. And every time I
- 22:38tell people that God doesn't do that
- 22:39anywhere in the Bible, they're like,
- 22:40"Yeah, but he did it for me." It's like,
- 22:42"Okay, cool. Got it." So your experience
- 22:44is how we know God. No, it's not. The
- 22:47Bible is how we know God. Okay? So, you
- 22:49can't use your own personal experience
- 22:51as a way to disprove like the Bible.
- 22:54That still means that there's no place
- 22:56in scripture where the Bible tells
- 22:58somebody who to marry. We want God to
- 23:00tell us who to marry because we don't
- 23:02want the weight of the responsibility of
- 23:05making that decision for oursel. That's
- 23:06a whole another problem for a whole
- 23:08another day. Here's my timeless truth
- 23:09for the day. My timeless truth for the
- 23:11day is this. that if you actually marry
- 23:14wisdom, then you and wisdom will make a
- 23:17wise decision on who you should marry.
- 23:19That's it. God wants you to actually
- 23:22make a decision on who to marry. Why?
- 23:24Because your decision on who to marry
- 23:26will actually reveal the level of wisdom
- 23:29that you have. And I wouldn't make a
- 23:31decision about marriage until I was
- 23:34sufficiently wise because it's the
- 23:36ultimate test of whether or not you're a
- 23:38wise person. I wouldn't make a permanent
- 23:40decision while I'm still an idiot. I
- 23:42wouldn't do that. That sounds dumb to
- 23:44me. It's like when I see some people
- 23:46with tattoos and I'm like, "What's that
- 23:48a tattoo of?" And they're like, "Oh,
- 23:49it's Pikachu." I'm like, "Got it. You
- 23:51got a tattoo while you were still
- 23:52stupid." Got it. I understand. I I don't
- 23:54know why you got Pikachu tattooed on
- 23:56your elbow, but that's dumb. That's
- 23:59stupid. You may want to wait until
- 24:01you're smart before you start getting
- 24:02things tattooed on you. You may want to
- 24:04wait until you're wise, until you do
- 24:07things that are permanent. And you may
- 24:09want to wait until you're wise before
- 24:11you make the decision to marry somebody
- 24:14because there's a lot of divorce people
- 24:16running around here. And that means
- 24:17there's a lot of people who got married
- 24:19to people before they got married to
- 24:21wisdom. And I think if you marry wisdom,
- 24:24wisdom will protect you from making a
- 24:26short-sighted decision when it comes to
- 24:28an earthly relationship. And that is a
- 24:30timeless truth. That's not just good
- 24:32advice for Lemuuel or Solomon's sons or
- 24:36anybody who has a direct link to the
- 24:38context of these proverbs. That's good
- 24:42uh advice for you, for me, and for every
- 24:45single person on the planet. All right,
- 24:47tomorrow we've got day 3:12. We're in
- 24:50THE BOOK OF JOB. [screaming]
- 24:52WE DID IT, JOB. ANYWAY, we're going to
- 24:54be in Job chapters 1, 2, and 3. It's
- 24:56going to be fantastic. Day 312. I can't

- 25:01here. The only question is, will you be
- 25:03here? If you're on a streak, I'm so
- 25:05proud of you. Even if you're not on a
