- 0:00Hey Bible nerds, this is Dr. Manny
- 0:02Orango. Welcome to the Bible department
- 0:04podcast powered by Arma. We are walking
- 0:08through the entire Bible in a year. You
- 0:10can go to the description or the bible
- 0:13department.com to download a reading
- 0:15plan and join the journey
- 0:24family. Welcome to day 308 here at the
- 0:27Bible department. Today we are looking
- 0:29at Proverbs chapters 19, 20, and 21.
- 0:35And hopefully we just get A LITTLE BIT
- 0:37MORE WISE. LIKE the goal is to get wiser
- 0:40and wiser and wiser and wiser and wiser.
- 0:42If we walk with the wise, we will get
- 0:44wise. And reading the proverbs is a way
- 0:47to walk with the wise. Wise people have
- 0:50left us their writings. And we want to
- 0:53walk with them by reading what they've
- 0:55got to say. And so if you have not done
- 0:58the reading today, uh how about you stop
- 1:01this video, pause the audio, go get the
- 1:04reading done, okay? You want to get
- 1:06Proverbs chapters 19, 20, and 21 fully
- 1:10read, and then come on back. All right,
- 1:13for those of us who have done the
- 1:15reading, no real context clues for
- 1:18today. Again, this is not really how
- 1:21Proverbs works, right? It's is not a
- 1:24book that is heavy on context, but very
- 1:28very heavy. Almost every single line out
- 1:30of the book can be applied timelessly as
- 1:33a truth to your life. So, low on the
- 1:35context clues, heavy on the timeless
- 1:37truth. I've been enjoying giving you
- 1:39nerdy nuggets every day, aka my top 10.
- 1:43Today, I've got seven. I think finally,
- 1:46I'm going to be wise. I'm going to be
- 1:48realistic. I think I can give you seven
- 1:50of my favorite verses that came out of
- 1:52today's reading. So, let's get to it.
- 1:55All right. Again, no context, no no
- 1:59author, no audience, no history, none of
- 2:02that. Okay, not today at least. So, I'm
- 2:04going to give you seven verses that
- 2:06stuck out to me and [snorts] um just
- 2:09kind of kind of talk through those.
- 2:10Okay, Proverbs 19 verse 11. Obviously,
- 2:14we got chapter 19, chapter 20, and
- 2:16chapter 21 today on the docket. So,
- 2:19let's start with Proverbs chapter 19.
- 2:22Proverbs chapter 19 verse 11 says this,
- 2:25"A person's wisdom yields patience." It
- 2:29is to one's glory to overlook an
- 2:32offense. A person's wisdom yields
- 2:35patience. Man, how do you know if you're
- 2:38a wise person? Are you patient? Are you
- 2:40a patient person? Okay, wise people are
- 2:43in it for the long haul. Okay, remember
- 2:48Proverbs is going to warn against
- 2:49get-richqu schemes. Like anything that's
- 2:52kind of like overnight success, Proverbs
- 2:55is like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 2:57Gather money little by little, right? Uh
- 3:00succeed, grow little by little. So this
- 3:04same idea can be found in Proverbs
- 3:0719:11. A person's wisdom yields
- 3:09patience. Well, what's required to make
- 3:12an investment and uh you know not see a
- 3:15return on that investment for 30 years
- 3:17to leave your money in the stock market
- 3:20and just let it do its thing for 30
- 3:23years. Patience to buy a piece of
- 3:26property and just let it become more and
- 3:28more valuable over time. Patience. Okay.
- 3:32Patience. Impatient people want to buy
- 3:36property then sell it and then like buy
- 3:38stocks and then sell it, you know.
- 3:40patience. Okay, a person's wisdom yields
- 3:44patience. Patience. Not in a rush. Zero
- 3:47rush. That doesn't mean that there's
- 3:48never an urgency. It just means there's
- 3:50never a rush. There's a big difference
- 3:52between urgency and and rush. Okay. And
- 3:55so, all right. It is one's glory to
- 3:58overlook an offense. So, not only, okay,
- 4:02I'm going to be patient in life, but I'm
- 4:04going to be patient in my dealings with
- 4:06other people, and I'm able to overlook
- 4:10an offense cuz I'm a patient person,
- 4:12which means, you know what, I I
- 4:14understand that it's going to take time
- 4:17to develop the people around me or to be
- 4:19in reconciled relationships. And so,
- 4:22patience is part for the course. You
- 4:24know, if I'm going to be someone who is
- 4:27gonna have fruitful relationships, then
- 4:30I'm gonna have to have the kind of
- 4:32patience that can overlook an offense.
- 4:33That's a great verse, man. Proverbs
- 4:3719:1, that's worth memorizing. A
- 4:40person's wisdom yields patience. You
- 4:42can't claim to be wise if you're not
- 4:44patient. Okay? You can't claim to be
- 4:46wise if you're impulsive. You can't
- 4:48claim to be wise if you're like if
- 4:51you've got this like um frantic kind of
- 4:55behavior. No, no. Patience. Patience. It
- 4:59is to one's glory to overlook an
- 5:00offense. Okay. So, when you when you
- 5:03overlook an offense, don't think, "Oh,
- 5:05that person got over on me." Think, "Oh,
- 5:08it's to my glory that I overlooked that
- 5:09offense." Like that. That actually
- 5:11reflects good on me. It's not I'm not
- 5:14soft because I overlooked an offense. I
- 5:16am wise because I overlook an offense.
- 5:19All right, it's my first one. Proverbs
- 5:21chapter 19 verse 22. Proverbs chapter 19
- 5:24verse 22 says this. What a person
- 5:27desires is unfailing love. Better to be
- 5:31poor than a liar. [laughter]
- 5:34Better to be poor than a liar. Okay.
- 5:37What a person desires is unfailing love.
- 5:40What is unfailing love? Unfailing love
- 5:42is the kind of love where you can be
- 5:44honest. Okay. And then it says, "Better
- 5:46to be poor than a liar." Okay, so the
- 5:49the the Bible is giving us wisdom around
- 5:52lying. Like, hey, you you if if you just
- 5:56met a woman, it's better to be poor.
- 5:58Like, it's better to let her know I'm
- 6:01poor than to flex or to pretend like
- 6:04you're somebody that you're not because
- 6:05that's not going to be a relationship
- 6:07that leads to unfailing love. You just
- 6:09set yourself up for a gold digger to
- 6:12find you if you're flexing and lying and
- 6:16acting like you're somebody that you're
- 6:17not. But it's better to be poor than a
- 6:20liar. You don't need a lie. You don't
- 6:22need a lie. When I first met my wife,
- 6:24she knew I was broke. I was broke. It's
- 6:26okay. I'd rather be I'd rather be poor
- 6:28than a liar. I'm not going to I'm not
- 6:30going to lie about and make it seem like
- 6:32I got more than I do. I don't. I'm
- 6:34broke. I need somebody who's down to
- 6:37help me and who's down to build with me,
- 6:40who's down to build an empire with me,
- 6:42who's down to build a ministry with me.
- 6:44Uh, I'd rather be poor than a liar.
- 6:46Okay. Next. Proverbs 20:1. Wine is a
- 6:50mocker and beer a brawler. Whoever is
- 6:53led astray by them is not wise. Is not
- 6:58wise. All right, let's dive into this
- 7:00one because I'll kind of tell you my own
- 7:02story and then kind of teach a principle
- 7:05here that I think Proverbs 20:1 wants us
- 7:09to learn. Okay, first first the story. I
- 7:12grew up in a church that essentially
- 7:14taught that any drinking was sin.
- 7:18Drinking alcohol, whether it was a tight
- 7:22amount or enough to get you inebriated,
- 7:25was a sin. Okay. And then I went off to
- 7:28college and I met people who and I lived
- 7:31in England and then I I just came to the
- 7:34realization, okay, the perspective that
- 7:37I heard at church growing up is not
- 7:40true. And so I had to deconstruct that
- 7:42idea that drinking was a sin. Now,
- 7:44here's what happens when you
- 7:46deconstruct. Um when you deconstruct,
- 7:48you don't know what to trust and what
- 7:50not to trust. So you start questioning
- 7:52everything that that church or that that
- 7:54person taught you. Instead of chewing
- 7:56the meat, spitting out the bones, you
- 7:58spit out all the meat, any meat and
- 8:00bones, you know. And so deconstruction
- 8:04always leads to an overcorrection. And I
- 8:07know a lot of people who this is the
- 8:08path that they went on. They they they
- 8:10were raised in a church that said
- 8:11drinking is a sin. And then they
- 8:13realize, okay, the Bible doesn't say
- 8:15that drinking is a sin. And so then in
- 8:18their new found Christian liberty, they
- 8:21began to enjoy, indulge, and maybe even
- 8:25abuse alcohol. And recently, probably
- 8:28the last two to three years, maybe three
- 8:30years. Yeah, probably three years, I
- 8:33made a personal decision that alcohol
- 8:36was of no positive value to me. that I
- 8:40was enjoying and indulging in alcohol
- 8:44just to celebrate the fact that I could
- 8:46just to just to be, you know, I'm I'm
- 8:49I'm free. I'm a Christian. This wasn't
- 8:52right. So, I'm I'm going to enjoy it cuz
- 8:54I can. And um I don't know. I just got
- 8:57to a place of like, why am I doing
- 8:59something just cuz I can? Doing
- 9:01something just because I can do it is
- 9:03not wise. Literally, Paul says,
- 9:06"Everything is permissible for you, but
- 9:08not all things are beneficial." So, the
- 9:11real question to ask is never, "Well, is
- 9:15that a sin?" It's a terrible question.
- 9:18The is it a sin question is actually not
- 9:21a wise question. Here's a good question.
- 9:24Is it wise? Is it beneficial? Is it
- 9:27profitable? Will it jeopardize my
- 9:29witness? Wisdom is not asking about
- 9:33whether it's a sin. Wisdom is wondering
- 9:36what's the value at. And so for me, I
- 9:39realized I actually don't need to come
- 9:42to any theological stances on whether or
- 9:45not this is a sin or not cuz it's not a
- 9:47sin issue. It's a wisdom issue. And so I
- 9:49began to realize consuming alcohol is
- 9:53just not very wise. It's not a very wise
- 9:56thing to do. So I stopped. I also st and
- 9:58this is also why I I began to operate in
- 10:02wisdom as opposed to freedom. You know,
- 10:06what do I have the right to do? Instead
- 10:08of operating in my Christian rights, I
- 10:11decided, yeah, who cares what I have the
- 10:13right to do? Let's just talk about
- 10:15what's wise, what's beneficial. And I
- 10:17came to this conclusion. If I did not
- 10:20consume alcohol, I could passion lead
- 10:22people who did and didn't consume
- 10:24alcohol. By being someone who does not
- 10:27consume alcohol, I could lead people who
- 10:30do and don't consume alcohol. However,
- 10:33if I was someone who did consume
- 10:36alcohol, people who don't consume
- 10:39alcohol would be turned off. And my job
- 10:42is not to assert my rights or my
- 10:46freedoms as a Christian. My job is to be
- 10:48all things to all men. So, I put it on
- 10:51the altar and said, "I can sacrifice
- 10:53that." Because anything that you can't
- 10:55just slit its throat and sacrifice is an
- 10:58idol. Wine is a mocker. Doesn't say
- 11:01getting drunk's a mocker. Wine. Wine's a
- 11:04mocker. Beer a brawler. Wine and beer
- 11:08mockers and brawlers. Whoever is led
- 11:10astray by them not wise. It doesn't say
- 11:13that whoever is led astray by them is in
- 11:15sin. It says whoever is led astray by
- 11:17them not wise. Is not wise. And so I
- 11:20think that a lot of times we get stuck
- 11:23in this. Well, is it a sin? Is it not a
- 11:26sin? Is it a sin? Is it not a sin? And I
- 11:28think that's such a silly debate.
- 11:30Debating on whether or not things are
- 11:32sin or not sin. I think it's immature.
- 11:34Here's what I think is really mature. To
- 11:36ask a better question. Is it wise? Is it
- 11:38beneficial? Is it a value ad? I think
- 11:40those that's a more helpful question.
- 11:42And I think you'd be hardressed to
- 11:44convince me or anybody else that
- 11:47drinking is a value ad. Now, I'm not
- 11:50saying that you need to abstain. I'm
- 11:53not. I'm just offering a wise
- 11:56perspective, which I think Proverbs 20:1
- 12:00wants us to at least consider. Okay,
- 12:02next one. I did three so far. Okay,
- 12:04number four. Proverbs chapter 20:13
- 12:07says, "Do not love sleep or you will
- 12:11grow poor. Stay awake and you will have
- 12:13food to spare." I I need like every
- 12:16person under the age of 30 to tattoo
- 12:18that on their chest. Do not love sleep.
- 12:21Do not love sleep. If you like sleep, if
- 12:25you're just like the old man, I just
- 12:26LOVE SLEEP. ALL RIGHT, YOU'RE GOING TO
- 12:28BE BROKE. Do not love sleep. Do not love
- 12:31sleep or you will grow poor. I know a
- 12:33lot of people who love sleep. They love
- 12:34sleep, you know. They're they're just
- 12:36like, "I gotta get in bed at a certain
- 12:37time. I can't wake up, you know, early."
- 12:39It's like, "All right, cool. You love
- 12:41sleep. You like sleep. Cool. You and
- 12:44sleep gonna be buddies. You and sleep
- 12:45going to be friends cuz sleep broke and
- 12:47you broke. Y'all both broke. You and
- 12:49sleep both broke." So, I watched this
- 12:50dude, this guy, you know, he was like,
- 12:52"Hey, I can tell you right now based on
- 12:54what time you go to sleep, I can tell
- 12:56you how much body fat percentage you
- 12:58got." And I felt convicted cuz literally
- 13:00the time that he said certain people go
- 13:02to sleep, I was like that's my body fat
- 13:04percentage. And I think there's
- 13:06something powerful about being an early
- 13:08riser. We have multiple episodes of this
- 13:11podcast filmed every morning. You know,
- 13:13Cam picks me up from my house at 6:00 in
- 13:15the morning. By the time 9:30, 10:00, by
- 13:18the time other people on our team roll
- 13:20in, me and Cam have already finished
- 13:22two, three, four episodes. You know, I
- 13:25don't love sleep. I don't love sleep.
- 13:26One day I'm asleep. I'm I'm I'm gonna go
- 13:28do a lot of sleeping. You know what I'm
- 13:30saying? In my 70s and my 80s when I'm
- 13:32dead, I'mma asleep. But it's not time to
- 13:34sleep right now. It's time to get this
- 13:35work done. And and these videos ain't
- 13:38going to record themselves. And this
- 13:39Bible ain't going to study itself. This
- 13:41church ain't going to build itself.
- 13:42Those who love sleep. Do not love sleep
- 13:45or you will grow poor. That doesn't mean
- 13:47you can't appreciate sleep. Doesn't mean
- 13:48that you can't desire sleep. It doesn't
- 13:51mean sleep's not an idol. So, you know,
- 13:53a lot of times it's like we got 5:00
- 13:55flights. That means we wake up at three
- 13:57o'clock in the morning. We get picked up
- 13:58from a hotel at three o'clock in the
- 14:00morning and and get brought to the
- 14:02airport and it that's just a lot. That's
- 14:04part of being an adult. If you're grumpy
- 14:06when you don't have enough sleep, you're
- 14:08still a toddler. Like that that's crazy.
- 14:10Yo, that's childish. I'm kind of grumpy.
- 14:13I didn't get enough sleep. Are you
- 14:14three? Mean you grumpy, you didn't get
- 14:16enough sleep. Do not love sleep or you
- 14:18will grow poor. Stay awake and you will
- 14:20have food to spare. It's a good verse.
- 14:22Fantastic verse. All right, next one. I
- 14:25just love wisdom because it's not
- 14:26complicated. It's like, hey, hey, fall
- 14:29out of love with sleep. If you love
- 14:31sleep, you got to start telling
- 14:32yourself, I don't love sleep. The only
- 14:34way, but we've created this narrative
- 14:36and culture that you can't fall out of
- 14:39love with something that you love. You
- 14:41know, once people say they love
- 14:42something, it's like it becomes an
- 14:44untouchable idol. But you can't love
- 14:46sleep. You're gonna be a bad parent if
- 14:47you love sleep because kids are born and
- 14:49they take away all your sleep. Okay.
- 14:51Proverbs chapter 20 verse 19 says this.
- 14:54A gossip betrays a confidence. So avoid
- 14:57anyone who talks too much. AIN'T THAT A
- 14:59GOOD VERSE? AVOID PEOPLE WHO TALK TOO
- 15:01MUCH. If people gossip, just avoid them.
- 15:04Avoid them like the plague. I tell
- 15:06people negativity and gossip are like
- 15:07bad breath. It's going to cause people
- 15:09to just back away. You know, just just
- 15:11just move. Just take steps back. You
- 15:13know, gossip and negativity. You start
- 15:15complaining around me or gossiping about
- 15:17other people, I'm going to cut that
- 15:19conversation short. I'm going I'm going
- 15:20to I'm going to BE LIKE, "OH, WOW. THE
- 15:23ANGEL GABRIEL'S calling me. Look at
- 15:24that. I got to go. I'm definitely going
- 15:26to be like, "Oh, wow. Mickey Mouse is
- 15:28FaceTiming me. I got to I got to I I GOT
- 15:31TO GO." YOU KNOW, YOU start just venting
- 15:34or just complaining about this,
- 15:36complaining about that, complaining
- 15:37about this, being negative. You know, I
- 15:39was talking to somebody recently and
- 15:40they were just being super negative and
- 15:41they were like, "Yeah, and I can't find
- 15:42a job." And I was like, "Now, when you
- 15:45go to job interviews, is this the person
- 15:48who goes to the job interview?" Cuz I've
- 15:50interviewed a lot of people. Guess what
- 15:51I want? I want excited, you know? I'm
- 15:54not trying to hire a depressed person to
- 15:56work at our organization. I'm not trying
- 15:58to hire Eeyore, you know? So, if you
- 16:01walking in the job interview with Eeyore
- 16:02Vibes, I I They were like, "I've done
- 16:05like 20 job interviews. I can't find a
- 16:06job." I was like, "I could probably tell
- 16:09you why." You know, you got a negative
- 16:11vibe. You got negative energy. Guess
- 16:13what? Positive, full of joy, you know,
- 16:17just chipper, upbeat, man, everybody's
- 16:19attracted to that. But gossiping,
- 16:22negative complainers, you know,
- 16:24slackers. O, avoid anyone who talks too
- 16:27much. That's good advice right there.
- 16:29Proverbs 21:17 is number six. Proverbs
- 16:3221:17. Family, the wait is over. My
- 16:36brand new book, Crushing Chaos, is out
- 16:40now and available everywhere. books are
- 16:43sold. Literally today, I walked into a
- 16:46Barnes & Noble and I signed a bunch of
- 16:48copies at a physical location. So, you
- 16:51can grab this book at a physical Barnes
- 16:54& Noble or you can go to a Books a
- 16:56Million or Amazon or anywhere books are
- 16:59sold and grab a copy. If you enjoy
- 17:02reading the Bible from an ancient
- 17:04perspective, if you understand that the
- 17:07beauty of scripture is actually knowing
- 17:09it in context, then you'll love this
- 17:12book. And if there's any [music] chaos
- 17:14in your personal life, I think that
- 17:16reading the Bible from an ancient
- 17:18perspective can actually [music] help to
- 17:20crush the chaos in your life. I think
- 17:22this book is going to BE A NEW YORK
- 17:23TIMES BESTSELLER. I really do. I think
- 17:26we wrote a good one. I think you should
- 17:28get a copy today. All right, back to the
- 17:31episode. Whoever loves pleasure will
- 17:33become poor. Whoever loves pleasure
- 17:36pleasure will become poor. Whoever loves
- 17:38wine and olive oil will never be rich. I
- 17:42think sometimes we associate wealth with
- 17:44a life of luxury. But actually, Proverbs
- 17:46makes the argument, mm- wealth isn't
- 17:49about how much luxury or how much sleep
- 17:52or how much of of that stuff you can
- 17:55get. The average wealthy person does not
- 17:58live a life of pleasure and luxury. The
- 18:00average wealthy person in America owns a
- 18:02dry cleaners, a laundrymat, drives a
- 18:05Ford F-150. The average millionaire in
- 18:07America is the kind of person who, you
- 18:11know, is is not living a flashy
- 18:14lifestyle. Okay. Whoever loves pleasure
- 18:17will become poor. Absolutely. My dad
- 18:20found pleasure in crack. So that
- 18:22brother's poor. Anyone who the enemy can
- 18:24manipulate your desire for pleasure,
- 18:27you're going to become poor. So if if
- 18:28you like porn, you're going to be poor.
- 18:30You're going to be broke cuz that's a
- 18:32form of pleasure. You're going to be
- 18:34broke. You're going to find yourself
- 18:35poor because anyone who the moment the
- 18:39enemy knows you know your weakness for
- 18:42pleasure, he can exploit you. And anyone
- 18:44who could be exploited is always going
- 18:46to be poor. So anyone who's just like, I
- 18:49I want pleasure. I want a soft life. I
- 18:52want an easy life. I want luxury. You
- 18:55know, you're going to be poor because
- 18:56you're going to end up working to spend
- 18:59money on vacations you can't afford and
- 19:02on stuff that you can't afford. You're
- 19:04So now you're working to keep up a
- 19:06certain lifestyle instead of working to
- 19:10invest, working to sew, working to put
- 19:13away money so that you have capital to
- 19:15start a business. So whoever loves
- 19:18pleasure will become poor. Absolutely.
- 19:22That Yes. That Yeah. Cuz cuz you'll look
- 19:26at a budget and you'll twist the numbers
- 19:29to get the things that you want.
- 19:31Pleasure means that you're not thinking
- 19:32with your brain. You're thinking with
- 19:34your emotions. You're thinking with
- 19:38desire. And that's just not a way to
- 19:40make decisions. Whoever loves pleasure,
- 19:42that person going to become poor cuz
- 19:44they're going to end up buying the
- 19:45things that bring them pleasure cuz
- 19:48pleasures aren't free. Okay? Whoever
- 19:50loves wine and olive oil will never be
- 19:54rich because it means that you're you're
- 19:56gonna you're gonna be people are gonna
- 19:58take advantage of you. They know what
- 20:00you find pleasure and they'll take
- 20:01advantage of you. And then last our last
- 20:04number seven is actually our timeless
- 20:06truth. So it's both a nerdy nugget and a
- 20:09timeless truth. Here we go. It's
- 20:11Proverbs chapter 21
- 20:14verse 9 and 19. And these are right next
- 20:17to each other in my Bible. Verse 9 is on
- 20:19like the left column and verse 19 is on
- 20:22the right column. Okay. It says this.
- 20:24Better to live on a corner of the roof
- 20:27than share a house WITH A QUARRELOME
- 20:29WIFE. DON'T NOBODY WANT NO ARGUMENTATIVE
- 20:32WIFE, MAN. IT'S BETTER TO LIVE ON THE
- 20:35CORNER OF A ROOF than share a house with
- 20:37a wife who's quarrelome. H
- 20:40argumentative.
- 20:42H quarrelome. Nagging.
- 20:45Annoying. Right next to it. Okay. Verse
- 20:4719. Better to live in a desert than with
- 20:51a quarrelome and nagging wife. Okay, so
- 20:54as a nerdy nugget, number one, if you
- 20:57currently have a girlfriend who's
- 21:00quarrelome and nagging, break up with
- 21:02them because if they're nagging you now,
- 21:05like marrying them is not going to put
- 21:07an end to the nagging. If they're
- 21:09mothering you now, that that's not going
- 21:11to stop when you guys get married. All
- 21:14the red flags for quarrelome nagging
- 21:16behavior are there. Coralsome and
- 21:19nagging like hard to agree with, not
- 21:22agreeable, you know, they want you to
- 21:24take their last name, you know, they
- 21:26they oh boy, they want to they oh Jesus,
- 21:30they want to hyphenate their last name.
- 21:31They don't want to take your last name.
- 21:33Just hard to agree with, you know, just
- 21:36wharome and like nagging. Like just
- 21:39don't don't waste your time. Stop. cuz
- 21:43cuz life with that woman's going to be
- 21:45aggravating to no end. You're going to
- 21:48want to be on the corner of the roof.
- 21:50And what's going to happen is you're
- 21:51just going to not go home and you're
- 21:53going to find ways to avoid being around
- 21:55her. And I would say that if you're a
- 21:58woman, don't be with a quarrelome or
- 22:00nagging boyfriend. Leave that joker. So
- 22:03if he's always complaining, always
- 22:05negative, you know, if he's angry, like
- 22:08that's just quarrelome. It's good that
- 22:11you guys have healthy conflict, but if
- 22:13the bulk of the relationship is just
- 22:15arguing and bickering, that's just
- 22:17annoying, man. That person doesn't know
- 22:19how to just be agreeable. It's better to
- 22:21live in the desert than live with that.
- 22:23So, that's our nerdy nugget. Now, let's
- 22:25flip it into a timeless truth. Guess
- 22:27what, family? We are the bride of
- 22:29Christ. If you're a Christian and you're
- 22:31listening or watching this podcast, we
- 22:33are the bride of Christ. So, here's a
- 22:35question. As a bride, am I a quarrelome
- 22:38and nagging wife to Jesus? Do I keep
- 22:41telling him about the things I need and
- 22:43what I asked and what I asked for the
- 22:45last time I prayed? And God, please give
- 22:47me a please God, give me this. God,
- 22:49please give me this. God, are you
- 22:51nagging or are you worshipful? Are you
- 22:54praising? When we gather on Sundays, I
- 22:56never want our church to be a nagging
- 22:58church to Jesus. I want us to be a
- 23:01church that worships the Lord and
- 23:04praises him regardless of what he's
- 23:06done. And so that comes from a place of
- 23:08gratitude. You've already done more than
- 23:10enough. I'm I'm winning. I'm winning.
- 23:12I'm I'm I'm grateful. And if we can go
- 23:15back up to the nerdy nugget, if you're
- 23:17someone who's quarrelome, the issue is
- 23:19that you're you're not content and you
- 23:21lack gratitude. If you were to up your
- 23:24level of contentment and gratitude, you
- 23:26wouldn't be a cruel spouse. And then
- 23:28spiritually, if you were to get
- 23:30contentment and gratitude, you wouldn't
- 23:32be quarrelome and nagging to King Jesus.
- 23:34And so that's timelessly true. So many
- 23:37of these are timelessly true, but that
- 23:39one is 100% true for New Testament
- 23:42believers today. Tomorrow we got day
- 23:44309. We're going to be looking at
- 23:46Proverbs 22, 23, and 24. I'm pumped. I
- 23:51love Proverbs if you can't tell. I love
- 23:54wisdom. Wisdom, wisdom, wisdom, wisdom,
- 23:56wisdom. It's a chief thing. Here's the
- 23:58beginning of wisdom. Get wisdom. I'm
- 24:00glad that you're here with me, tuned in
- 24:02so that we can get wisdom together.
- 24:03Tomorrow we got Proverbs 22, 23, and 24.
- 24:07If you're on a streak, I'm proud of you.
- 24:09Even if you're not on a streak, I love
