- 0:24family. Welcome to day 284.
- 0:27Today we are looking at Psalms 96- 98.
- 0:33And remember if you were here yesterday,
- 0:35you probably remember that Psalms 93 to
- 0:39Psalms 100 are all a part of a block or
- 0:44a collection of Psalms. And so today we
- 0:48are going to continue to look at three
- 0:50of the psalms that are in that wider
- 0:52collection from Psalm 93 to Psalm 100.
- 0:55We are in book four of the Psalms. If
- 0:59you haven't done the reading today, this
- 1:00is a good time to stop the video, pause
- 1:03the audio, go get the reading done, read
- 1:06Psalm 96, 97, and 98. Three short and
- 1:09simple Psalms. They're short and sweet.
- 1:11And my job is to help you to understand
- 1:14what you've already read. I know there's
- 1:16a lot of people who sometimes they reach
- 1:18out, they say, "Well, we will we listen
- 1:20to episode first, then we read." I'm
- 1:22like, "Okay, I mean, I hear you, but I
- 1:26want you to read it on your own first."
- 1:29Like, try at least try to understand it
- 1:32and then once you listen to the episode,
- 1:35you can grade yourself on like how how,
- 1:38you know, how close did I get to
- 1:40comprehending that or to understanding
- 1:41that. All right. So I told you yesterday
- 1:45uh that the the this entire block of
- 1:49Psalms, okay, from 93 to 100, they don't
- 1:52have a context. Now, they don't have a
- 1:54definitive context. However, no pun
- 1:57intended, there is a context clue, okay,
- 2:00there's a clue as to the context. And I
- 2:03can actually Psalm 96 is where we we
- 2:06begin to discover the context. Now, once
- 2:08you start to read Psalm 96, you can go
- 2:11to 1st Chronicles 16. Okay? 1st
- 2:14Chronicles 16. And what you're going to
- 2:16realize is that 1 Chronicles 16,
- 2:20starting essentially in verse 23.
- 2:25Okay? 1 Chronicles 16 23 mirrors Psalm
- 2:3096. I mean, word for word. Okay? Sing to
- 2:32the Lord all the earth. Sing to the Lord
- 2:34a new song. Okay. Pretty close. Then de
- 2:38proclaim his salvation day after day.
- 2:40Sing to the Lord all the earth. Sing to
- 2:42the Lord. Praise his name. Proclaim his
- 2:44salvation day after day. Okay? Declare
- 2:47his glory among the nations. His
- 2:48marvelous deeds among all people.
- 2:50Declare his glory among the nations. His
- 2:52marvelous deed among the people. I'm
- 2:54just reading, you know, I'm reading 1st
- 2:56Chronicles chapter 16 starting in verse
- 2:5823. I'm just reading it line by line and
- 3:00then just reading Psalm 96 line by line.
- 3:02You can do that on your own. And what
- 3:04you will begin to realize is that all
- 3:06the way down to 1 Chronicles 16 verse
- 3:1034. Okay, so from 23 from 1st Chronicles
- 3:1416:23 all the way down to verse 34. Or
- 3:17let's actually just back up to verse 33.
- 3:20Let the trees of the forest sing. Let
- 3:22them sing for joy before the Lord for he
- 3:24comes to judge the earth. Okay, that's
- 3:26verse 33 of 1 Chronicles 16. Now let's
- 3:30go over to Psalm 96. And it says, "Let
- 3:33all creation rejoice before the Lord,
- 3:36for he comes, he comes to judge the
- 3:38earth. He will judge the world in
- 3:40righteousness and all the peoples in his
- 3:42faithfulness." Okay, pretty dang close.
- 3:46Okay. And then verse 34 ends, "Give
- 3:48thanks to the Lord for he is good. His
- 3:50love endures forever." All right. So
- 3:53Psalm 96 and 1st Chronicles uh 16:es
- 3:5723-34 are dang near identical. I mean,
- 4:02pretty close, which gives us a clue that
- 4:05Psalm 96 probably comes from 1st
- 4:09Chronicles chapter 16. So then the
- 4:11question is, what's happening in 1st
- 4:13Chronicles chapter 16? And I'll tell you
- 4:15exactly what's happening. David is
- 4:18taking the ark of the covenant from Oed
- 4:21Edom's house and actually bringing it
- 4:24back to Jerusalem to a restored, rebuilt
- 4:28tabernacle. Now, why is this so
- 4:31significant? Well, it's so significant
- 4:33because the ark of the covenant is known
- 4:35as the throne of Yahweh. Okay? It's the
- 4:39throne of Yahweh. So, imagine, you know,
- 4:42God's throne has been chilling at a
- 4:45dude's house. And why is it at that
- 4:47dude's house? It's at that dude's house
- 4:48cuz the Philistines had captured it.
- 4:50Which means the enemy had captured the
- 4:52ark. And now it's just at some Jewish
- 4:55dude's house named Oed Edom. And David
- 4:58cares so much about God's throne because
- 5:01he cares about God's kingship. He cares
- 5:04about God's kingship because he cares
- 5:06about God's presence. He cares about
- 5:08God's glory. And David goes through the
- 5:11painstaking process of returning the
- 5:15throne of God, the presence of God, the
- 5:18glory of God back to where God needs to
- 5:22reign, which is the center of the
- 5:25nation, which is Jerusalem, aka Zion.
- 5:28Okay? So this psalm is being sang by the
- 5:33Levitical choirs as the throne of God
- 5:37comes back into the city of God. Okay,
- 5:41now that is huge because this is
- 5:45literally like what David's known for.
- 5:48David restores a focus on the kingship
- 5:53of Yahweh. So if that's the context for
- 5:57for this psalm because all of these
- 6:00psalms are connected from Psalm 93 to
- 6:02Psalm 100, that is actually the context
- 6:05for this entire block of Psalms. So now
- 6:08that we got context out of the way, and
- 6:10you can go back to 1st Chronicles 16.
- 6:12You could read the whole story if you'd
- 6:15like. Okay. Uh now that we've know that
- 6:17context, let's dive into some nerdy
- 6:19nuggets. I mapped out a a uh a timeline
- 6:22here in my trusty dusty notebook. Okay,
- 6:25mapped out. Anytime I say context clues,
- 6:27I think Blues Clues and then you know
- 6:29the Steve on Blues Clues had a trusty
- 6:32dusty notebook and so I call this my
- 6:34trusty dusty notebook. Anyway, you don't
- 6:36need to know all that, but I said it
- 6:37anyway. So, ADHD for the win. All right,
- 6:39let's go. This leads me to our nerdy
- 6:42nuggets. Okay. So, I I kind of wanted to
- 6:45give you a history of Yahweh as king
- 6:48because if we don't know how Yahweh has
- 6:51been treated as king, then it's hard to
- 6:54really appreciate how David is treating
- 6:56Yahweh. Okay? So, this history starts
- 6:59out number one in Deuteronomy, Yahweh's
- 7:03susaranty. So, remember, if you've been
- 7:05on this journey with us for a long time,
- 7:06Deuteronomy is set up in the in the
- 7:09template of a susarin vassel treaty.
- 7:11Susan just means king. Vassel means you
- 7:15know subject ruler subject or big king
- 7:19little king. Yahweh is established as
- 7:22the susarin or the king legally like via
- 7:26a treaty with Israel that was signed
- 7:30back in Deuteronomy. Okay. So
- 7:32contractually covenantally. Okay. Yahweh
- 7:35is king established in Deuteronomy. Now
- 7:38obviously the people ratify that
- 7:40covenant in the wilderness. They fail to
- 7:42take the land under Josh under Moses.
- 7:44They do it under Joshua. They go into
- 7:47the land. So you know he's king, okay,
- 7:50for for the book of Joshua. And then by
- 7:52the time we get to Judges, the
- 7:54resounding theme of the book of Judges
- 7:56is this verse. There was no king in
- 7:59Israel. Everybody did what was right in
- 8:01their own eyes. That's Judges 17:6,
- 8:04Judges 18:1, Judges 19:1, Judges 21:25.
- 8:09I mean, over and over and over and over
- 8:10and over again. The theme of the book of
- 8:12Judges is there's no king in Israel.
- 8:14Everyone does what is right in their own
- 8:16eyes. Okay? So, Samuel is a
- 8:20transitionary character. He's the last
- 8:22judge and he anoints the first king.
- 8:25Okay? So, we get out of judges and you
- 8:27get Samuel. By the time you get to
- 8:29Samuel, Samuel is is grieved. And Yahweh
- 8:34is like, "Hey dude, they haven't
- 8:35rejected you. They've rejected me as
- 8:37their king." And the people keep begging
- 8:39for a king. Give us a king. Give us a
- 8:41king. Give us a king. Give us a king.
- 8:43And God is just like, "The people have
- 8:44rejected me as king." And so Samuel has
- 8:47to anoint Saul. And Saul is an evil
- 8:51king. Okay? Terrible king. Now, there's
- 8:54a couple things that are going to
- 8:55happen. It says 1st Samuel chapter 4.
- 8:58The tabernacle at Shiloh gets destroyed
- 9:02and the Philistines steal God's throne,
- 9:04the ark of the covenant. And nobody
- 9:07seems to care. Psalm 78 60. He abandoned
- 9:12the tabernacle of Shiloh. Okay, so
- 9:14Shiloh is where the tabernacle was
- 9:18established. He abandoned the tabernacle
- 9:20of Shiloh, the tent he had set up among
- 9:23humans. Okay, he set the ark of his
- 9:26might into captivity, his splendor into
- 9:28the hands of the enemy. Okay, so the
- 9:30Psalm 78 is is giving poetic words,
- 9:36imagery to the historical events that
- 9:38happened in 1st Samuel chapter 4.
- 9:40Jeremiah 7:12. Okay, Jeremiah 7 starting
- 9:44in verse 12 says this. Jeremiah is
- 9:48warning people like, "Dude, God's got to
- 9:52judge Jerusalem." So what does he say?
- 9:53Go now by my place that was in Shiloh.
- 9:56So this is a warning. Don't think that
- 9:59just because you have my presence,
- 10:00you're protected. Go over to Shiloh
- 10:03where I made my name dwell at first and
- 10:06see what I did to it for the wickedness
- 10:09of my people Israel. So God is saying
- 10:12through Jeremiah, I destroyed Shiloh. I
- 10:14judged it because my people were wicked.
- 10:16Okay, so here we go. Under Samuel's
- 10:19leadership, the tabernacle at Shiloh
- 10:21gets destroyed. The ark of the covenant
- 10:23goes into captivity a amongst the
- 10:25Philistines. The people have rejected
- 10:28Yahweh as king. They want Saul. So God
- 10:30gives them what they want under Saul's
- 10:33leadership. He never goes to restore
- 10:37Shiloh, nor does he rebuild the
- 10:40tabernacle in Jerusalem. Because Saul
- 10:42saw himself as king. Why do I need a
- 10:45throne for Yahweh when I'm king and I
- 10:48have a throne for myself? Saul sees
- 10:51himself as king. He does not see himself
- 10:54as serving the real king which is
- 10:56Yahweh. Then comes David. Okay, so
- 11:01judges, everyone does what is right in
- 11:03their own eyes because Israel has no
- 11:04king. Samuel, the very last judge,
- 11:07Yahweh says, "Don't worry, Samuel. They
- 11:09haven't rejected you. They've rejected
- 11:10me as king." Samuel anoints Saul. Okay,
- 11:14the Ark of the Covenant is off in enemy
- 11:17territory. The tabernacle has been
- 11:19destroyed. Saul doesn't care. Saul
- 11:21doesn't care about God being king. He
- 11:23doesn't care about God's glory, God's
- 11:26presence. He doesn't care about God's
- 11:28rule or God's reign. He's arrogant. He's
- 11:31insecure. He cares about his own reign.
- 11:33Finally, a shepherd boy named David gets
- 11:36exalted to be king. And David's heart
- 11:39posture is, "I'm not king. God's king.
- 11:42Let's go get the ark. We got to go get
- 11:45the ark. We gota We got to make sure
- 11:48that there's a tabernacle for Yahweh in
- 11:52Jerusalem. So, the reason that David is
- 11:54such a hero is because for centuries,
- 11:58not a judge, not a ruler, not not a
- 12:02leader, all throughout Judges, all
- 12:04throughout Samuel, all throughout Kings
- 12:07Saul's kingship, nobody regards Yahweh
- 12:11as king. which is why they don't care
- 12:13about his throne until David. David
- 12:16acknowledges, I am not really king.
- 12:19Yahweh is king. David is different.
- 12:22David knew his role. David knew Yahweh
- 12:25was the true king. And so when he had
- 12:27control over all Israel and had chosen a
- 12:30place to be the capital, he then gave
- 12:34that authority back to Yahweh. David
- 12:38brought the throne, the ark to the
- 12:40capital. He restored the tabernacle and
- 12:43declared to the people of Israel, Yahweh
- 12:45reigns. That's why the theme of all
- 12:48these psalms from Psalm 93 to Psalm 100
- 12:50is Yahweh reigns. It is the legacy of
- 12:53David. David is essentially saying by
- 12:55Yahweh reigns, he's saying I don't
- 12:57reign. I'm not in control. I'm not the
- 13:00one in power. I only have power because
- 13:02Yahweh has given me power. So why would
- 13:05I not give that authority back to the
- 13:08one who's given me authority? This is
- 13:10the counter truth. This is going to be
- 13:11my Thomas truth. Obviously, he gave that
- 13:13authority back to Yahweh. He brought the
- 13:15throne, the ark to the capital. He
- 13:16restored the tabernacle and declared to
- 13:18the people of Israel, Yahweh reigns.
- 13:21These psalms tell the real reason why
- 13:24David was the ultimate king, a man after
- 13:26God's own heart. Because David gave
- 13:30Yahweh's authority back to Yahweh and
- 13:34led the people in true worship and
- 13:36acknowledgment of their king and savior
- 13:40Yahweh. Yahweh reigns. David never made
- 13:43it about himself ever. He makes it about
- 13:46Yahweh. And this is why Yahweh makes it
- 13:49about David. Yahweh celebrates David
- 13:52because David celebrates Yahweh. And
- 13:54this is the counterintuitive nature of
- 13:56leadership. If I make my church, the
- 13:59garden about me, then God will be like,
- 14:02"All right, you're busy promoting
- 14:03yourself, so I'll let you promote
- 14:05yourself." But the moment I make it
- 14:07about him, God will reward me and make
- 14:10it about me. This is God. Remember the
- 14:13Tower of Babel and the call of Abraham
- 14:16happen side by side. What do the tower
- 14:18builders say? Let's make a name for
- 14:20ourselves. Let's build this tower. And
- 14:22God's like, "Yeah, right. I'mma confuse
- 14:24your languages. You'll never make a name
- 14:25for yourself." And then God chooses a
- 14:28man by the name of Abraham who doesn't
- 14:30care about making his a name for
- 14:31himself. And what promise does God give
- 14:33Abraham? I'll make your name great. I'll
- 14:35make your name great, Abe. I will make
- 14:37sure that your name is great. So God is
- 14:41not anti making people's names great.
- 14:44God's not anti-fame. He's not
- 14:45anti-popularity. He's anti-idolatry.
- 14:49He's anti-self worship. He's anti
- 14:53selfpromotion.
- 14:54God's all about God promotion. God
- 14:58promotes people. God elevates people.
- 15:01God expands the influence of people. God
- 15:05does that really well. He does it better
- 15:08than than social media could do it. He
- 15:11does it better than Hollywood could ever
- 15:13do it. God knows how to promote people.
- 15:16The testimony of my ministry career, my
- 15:19ministry life has been, as long as I
- 15:22make a big deal about God, God will make
- 15:23a big deal about me. I really don't have
- 15:25to make a big deal about me. Don't
- 15:27really have to talk about myself that
- 15:28much. I'm just going to talk about God.
- 15:30This is going to make God famous. And
- 15:32guess what? The more I've made God
- 15:34famous, God has sent book deals into my
- 15:36life. He has sent speaking engagements
- 15:39into my life. I've stood on bigger and
- 15:41bigger and bigger and bigger stages.
- 15:43I've gained influence. Preaching clips
- 15:45go viral. I just make a big deal about
- 15:48God and God in turns makes a big deal
- 15:51about me. David is arguably one of the
- 15:54most important characters in the entire
- 15:56Bible. And that is because God just
- 15:59goes, "Anyone who makes a big deal about
- 16:02me from a pure place with no agenda."
- 16:05God says, "Ah, it's easier for me to
- 16:08make a big deal about you, you make a
- 16:09big deal about me." You know, somebody
- 16:11asked me recently, "It seems like you
- 16:13promote yourself a lot." I was like,
- 16:14"Yeah, right." I was like, "I promote a
- 16:16message and that message is the gospel."
- 16:19And because I'm promoting the gospel,
- 16:22God will always promote me because the
- 16:24message I'm preaching is the gospel. And
- 16:27God wants to get his message of hope and
- 16:30life and lordship out to the world. So,
- 16:34as long as I make a big deal about God,
- 16:36God will always make a big deal about
- 16:37me. And that's honestly the the timeless
- 16:39truth. But before we get to that
- 16:41timeless truth, which I've already stole
- 16:42my thunder on the timeless truth, let's
- 16:44get to Psalm 96 and 97. Okay, family,
- 16:47the wait is over. My brand new book,
- 16:50Crushing Chaos, is out now and available
- 16:53everywhere books are sold literally
- 16:57today. I walked into a Barnes & Noble
- 16:59and I signed a bunch of copies at a
- 17:02physical location. So, you can grab this
- 17:04book at a physical Barnes & Noble or you
- 17:07can go to a Books a Million or Amazon or
- 17:10anywhere books are sold and grab a copy.
- 17:13If you enjoy reading the Bible from an
- 17:16ancient perspective, if you understand
- 17:19that the beauty of scripture is actually
- 17:21knowing it in context, then you'll love
- 17:24this book. And if there's any chaos in
- 17:26your personal life, I think that reading
- 17:29the Bible from an ancient perspective
- 17:31can actually help to crush the chaos in
- 17:33your life. I think this book is going to
- 17:35be a New York Times bestseller. I really
- 17:37do. I think we wrote a good one. I think
- 17:40you should get a copy today. All right,
- 17:43back to the episode. Uh or sorry, Psalm
- 17:4697:98. Since Yahweh reigns, since he's
- 17:49king, and since his throne is being
- 17:52brought to the capital to Jerusalem, and
- 17:55these psalms are all really about
- 17:57celebrating that, Psalm 97 begins with
- 18:00the words Yahweh reigns. And if he
- 18:04reigns, and that means the establishment
- 18:07of his throne is, it says it in verse
- 18:10two, righteousness and justice are the
- 18:12foundation of his throne. Righteousness
- 18:15and justice. Now, these two words go
- 18:17together. And I wish to God we just if
- 18:21we we could preach this all year.
- 18:22Righteousness and justice, especially as
- 18:24we live in a nation where for whatever
- 18:28reason, politics has become something
- 18:32that has divided righteousness from
- 18:33justice. And so, uh, if you talk to
- 18:36anyone who identifies as more
- 18:38progressive or identifies as being on
- 18:41the left side of the political spectrum,
- 18:42big on justice. And that's awesome.
- 18:45That's great. And people on the right
- 18:48side of the political spectrum really
- 18:51will preach righteousness. And I just
- 18:53go, these these political categories
- 18:56that we've made just just baffle me. And
- 19:00and I just always go, "Hey, hey, hey,
- 19:02can we just can we just teach this? Can
- 19:05we just teach this? Can we take our hope
- 19:07and our faith out of these parties and
- 19:10just Hey, the Bible talks about
- 19:12righteousness and justice." The Bible
- 19:14says that God's throne, the foundation
- 19:17of his throne, aka the politics of his
- 19:20kingdom, are both righteousness and
- 19:22justice. Tim Keller said this, and I I
- 19:24think it's brilliant. He's like, "My job
- 19:26is to be so conservative, I make liberal
- 19:28people uncomfortable, and to be so
- 19:30liberal, I make conservative people
- 19:31uncomfortable." And amen Tim Keller.
- 19:35Because the reality is that the
- 19:37unfortunate reality in our country is if
- 19:39you say something that's biblical like,
- 19:42"Hey man, we're called by God to
- 19:44dismantle systems of oppression." People
- 19:47be like, "Ah, systems of oppression.
- 19:49That's a liberal word." That's not a
- 19:50liberal word. It's a Bible word. These
- 19:52are Bible words. And then if you say,
- 19:55"Hey man, God's all about the nuclear
- 19:57family." People like, "Those are
- 19:59conservative words." Those aren't
- 20:00conservative words. Those are Bible
- 20:03words. These are Bible words. My
- 20:06frustration is that you could just be
- 20:08teaching the Bible and people are
- 20:11hearing you teach the Bible and want to
- 20:15put you into a conservative or liberal
- 20:18category. And the reality is that I
- 20:21can't speak for everybody who's teaching
- 20:22the Bible. I can speak for me. It's
- 20:25going to be impossible for somebody
- 20:27who's really teaching the Bible to get
- 20:29put into any of these categories. These
- 20:32are man-made categories. And I want to
- 20:34challenge you. If you are constantly
- 20:37trying to fit people into conservative
- 20:40or liberal categories so that you can
- 20:42feel comfortable with them, then that's
- 20:44a problem. The only category I'm trying
- 20:47to figure out when I hear someone, I'm
- 20:50not listening out for are they
- 20:52conservative, are they liberal. I'm
- 20:53listening for was that Bible? Was that
- 20:56Bible? Was that kingdom? Was that the
- 20:59gospel? Does that sound like Jesus and
- 21:02that's it? If it's Bible, I agree with
- 21:04it. If it's kingdom, I'm all in. And
- 21:08righteousness and justice are the
- 21:10foundations of his throne. So,
- 21:12Christians should be all about
- 21:14righteousness and all about justice,
- 21:17man. And and that leaves me kind of a
- 21:20little bit homeless because you just
- 21:23live in a world that is just obsessed, I
- 21:26mean infatuated with these political
- 21:29categories. And at the end of the day,
- 21:31I'm going to preach righteousness. I'm
- 21:33going to preach justice cuz I cuz these
- 21:36are Bible words. These are Bible words.
- 21:39And I just think we got to get back to
- 21:42the place where the number one way that
- 21:44Christians identify themselves are as
- 21:46bibleelving, bloodwashed kingdom
- 21:49citizens. Bibleelving,
- 21:52bloodwashed kingdom citizens. We're
- 21:54Bible people. We're Jesus people. We're
- 21:57blood of the lamb people. We're gospel
- 21:59people. We're kingdom people. Period.
- 22:02There's no other thing that needs to be
- 22:06an identity marker for us in terms of
- 22:09ideology or worldview. No, man. I'm I'm
- 22:12Bible. I'm Bible. I'm kingdom. I'm
- 22:14gospel. I'm Jesus, man. I If it's If
- 22:17it's Jesus, I'm with it. All right. You
- 22:19get the point. All right. One little
- 22:21nugget from Psalm 97 is we're in verse
- 22:247, we're going to get the word images.
- 22:26All who worship images are put to shame.
- 22:29Now, you're going to need a little bit
- 22:30of worldview for this because in the
- 22:32ancient worldview, images and idols are
- 22:35the same. Okay? So the reason that God
- 22:38says don't make any idol, okay, any
- 22:41graven images, uh, and those words are
- 22:44going to get used interchangeably, is
- 22:46because for Yahweh, he made us in his
- 22:51image so that we do the job that pagan
- 22:56idols do for their gods. Okay? An idol
- 23:00of Baal made in Baal's image is not
- 23:03Baal. It's an image. It's an idol. Baal
- 23:07actually exists as a spiritual being.
- 23:11And the people who worship Baal make
- 23:14Baal's images, idols. And God says,
- 23:18"Don't do that because I've already done
- 23:20that. I made you in my image. You are
- 23:23images of me." So actually when we carve
- 23:27out physical idols and worship them, you
- 23:30are actually trying to get a idol made
- 23:32of wood or stone or a statue to do your
- 23:36job for you and that's just lazy. Your
- 23:39job is to reflect my image. Okay? So I
- 23:42wanted to just point out all who worship
- 23:45images are put to shame. So why does it
- 23:47say images instead of idols? Well, is
- 23:50because in the ancient world, idols and
- 23:52images are flip side of the same coin.
- 23:56Idols are made in the images of the gods
- 23:59that they represent. So, images, idols,
- 24:01images, idols. When you see the word
- 24:03image, you should think idol. These
- 24:05words are interconnected. All right,
- 24:07last nugget. Okay. And again, if Yahweh
- 24:10reigns, then these things are true. All
- 24:14right. And that last Psalm 98, if Yahweh
- 24:17reigns, he brings salvation. Okay? If
- 24:20Yahweh reigns, he brings salvation. And
- 24:24so Psalm 98 is all about the salvation
- 24:27of Yahweh. He brings salvation uh as an
- 24:31outpouring of his love, his
- 24:32faithfulness, and his righteousness.
- 24:35Okay? Uh, we don't really have time to
- 24:36dive into all that, but I want you to
- 24:39see all of these psalms through the lens
- 24:40of if if if Yahweh reigns, what's true?
- 24:44And these psalms are answering the
- 24:46question that if Yahweh reigns, these
- 24:49other things must be true. All right.
- 24:51What's our timeless truth? Our timeless
- 24:54truth is we are gospel people. Two
- 24:57timeless truths for the day. We're
- 24:59gospel people. We have to honestly stop
- 25:02being discipled by CNN and Fox News. We
- 25:06need to be discipled by the word of the
- 25:07Lord. We We got to get discipled by the
- 25:09word of God. I I just feel like I'm
- 25:11living in an America right now where
- 25:13everyone just sees life through either a
- 25:16liberal lens or a conservative lens. And
- 25:20I just want to take the glasses off
- 25:21everybody and say, can you just see the
- 25:23world through a Bible lens? Can you just
- 25:26Can we just see the world through a
- 25:27Bible lens, please? a kingdom lens, a
- 25:29Jesus lens, a gospel lens. So I want
- 25:32those to be the buzzwords, okay? Gospel,
- 25:35Bible, Jesus, kingdom. Bible, gospel,
- 25:38Jesus, kingdom. Bible, gospel, Jesus,
- 25:40kingdom. Those are the buzzwords. You
- 25:42want to know the lens? Those are the
- 25:43lens. And then second, if you make a big
- 25:45deal about God, God will in turn make a
- 25:48big deal about you. And I know that's
- 25:50counterintuitive, but in the kingdom,
- 25:52the way up is always down. And uh I I
- 25:55want that to be a timeless truth. That's
- 25:56not just true for David. That's not just
- 25:58true for Psalms 96, 97, and 98. That's
- 26:02true forever. That's true for me and you
- 26:05today. And I think that's super, super
- 26:06relevant. Tomorrow, we've got day 285.
- 26:10We're going to be looking at Psalms 99
- 26:13to 101. So, we'll look at Psalms 99 and
- 26:16100 because that's the end of this
- 26:18little mini collection. And we'll look
- 26:19at Psalm 101 as uh as a separate deal.
- 26:23So, tomorrow we got Psalms 99 and 100,
- 26:26both part of our uh Psalms around the
- 26:29enthronement of Yahweh. And then we got
- 26:30Psalm 101. Three Psalms tomorrow. Can't
- 26:33wait. I'll be right here, same place,
- 26:35same time. Tune in, and uh I'm so proud
- 26:38of you. I love you. See you tomorrow.
