- 0:24family. Welcome to day 279 here at the
- 0:27Bible department podcast and we are
- 0:30diving into Psalms 82 to84 today. Psalms
- 0:3382 or Psalm 82 rather. It's a pretty
- 0:37like famous Psalm especially if you have
- 0:40followed the ministry of the late Dr.
- 0:43Michael Heiser. I know I'm a big Michael
- 0:45Heiser fan. Was honestly sad at his
- 0:48passing. But all that to say, we're
- 0:51going to dive into Psalm 82 today, which
- 0:53um a lot of his just scholarly work
- 0:56centers around. And I'm going to
- 0:58actually encourage people to go listen
- 1:01to a lot of that content. But uh if you
- 1:05have done the reading, everything that
- 1:06I'm going to say is going to make total
- 1:08sense. If you have not done the reading,
- 1:11this is a great chance. It's a great
- 1:13moment to stop the video, pause the
- 1:16audio, and go get Psalm Psalm 82, Psalm
- 1:2083, and Psalm 84 read so that you can
- 1:24kind of keep up with what we're talking
- 1:25about today. All right. Uh, like every
- 1:27day, I'm going to give context clues.
- 1:29Then I'm going to try to give as many
- 1:31nerdy nuggets as possible. I'm going to
- 1:33try to give at least one per psalm. And
- 1:36we're always going to leave off with a
- 1:38timeless truth cuz we're not just
- 1:40learning history. We're not just here to
- 1:42learn the context of scripture, but for
- 1:44the content of the scriptures to
- 1:46transform our lives. So, with no further
- 1:49ado, for everyone who's done the
- 1:50reading, let's dive into our context
- 1:53clues. All right. Psalm 82 and 83 are
- 1:57the final psalms of Asaf. And then Psalm
- 2:0084 is a psalm of the sons of Kora. Now
- 2:05we have had some psalms from the sons of
- 2:09Kora before. So this is a return to some
- 2:12psalms of the sons of Kora who will
- 2:14provide three more psalms in book three.
- 2:17Okay, three more psalms in book three.
- 2:20So Psalm 85, Psalm 87 and Psalm 88 are
- 2:24also going to be psalms of the sons of
- 2:28Kora. Now, I gave tons of context on the
- 2:31Sons of Kora, you know, back when we
- 2:35kind of looked at previous psalms that
- 2:37were written by them. The cool gist or
- 2:41the gist of what I said, I don't know
- 2:44how many days or weeks ago that was was
- 2:47that it's cool that the sons of Kora
- 2:50almost redeem their family's name. Uh
- 2:54because Kora is not a positive character
- 2:58in the Bible, that's for sure. We're
- 3:00talking about a character who's known
- 3:02for rebellion. So, it's cool that the
- 3:05sons of Kora are like redeeming their
- 3:07great great great great great great
- 3:08great great
- 3:10ancestors legacy. I just think that's
- 3:13awesome. So, all right. Uh Psalm 82 and
- 3:1683 are the final psalms of Asaf. Psalm
- 3:1984 is a psalm of Kora. And we're going
- 3:22to get some more Psalms from the Sons of
- 3:25Kora as we continue to journey through
- 3:27the third book of the book of Psalms.
- 3:30Okay, Psalm 82 has no context, but we
- 3:35get the divine counsel mentioned in
- 3:37Psalm 82, and that's kind of a big deal.
- 3:40Like a really, really, really big deal.
- 3:42And so, no context, but this is a
- 3:44really, really important psalm. So,
- 3:46we'll kind of dive into what the divine
- 3:48counsel is once we get down to our nerdy
- 3:50nuggets in the middle of the episode.
- 3:52Psalm 83. The context for Psalm 83 is 2
- 3:56Chronicles
- 3:5720. Now, in 2 Chronicles chapter 20, we
- 4:01are going to have a king by the name of
- 4:04Jehoshaphat. And there's going to be a
- 4:07coalition of Edom, Ammon, and Moab that
- 4:11are going to ally themselves against
- 4:14Jehoshaphat. This story can be found in
- 4:172 Chronicles chapter 20. I want to read
- 4:19to you Psalm 83 6 to8 and uh Psalm 83
- 4:25starting in verse 6 says this. The tents
- 4:29of Edom. Okay. So the psalm is going to
- 4:32give us some people groups. Okay. And
- 4:35the people groups match what we have for
- 4:38context in 2 Chronicles chapter 20. So,
- 4:41Edom, the Ishelites of Moab, and the
- 4:45Hagrites, Biblo, Ammon, Amalecch,
- 4:48Felistia, and the people of Ty, even
- 4:51Assyria has joined them to reinforce
- 4:53Lot's descendants. So, Psalm 83 is going
- 4:57to begin to match context 2 Chronicles
- 4:59chapter 20. If you want to go to 2
- 5:02Chronicles chapter 20, it would actually
- 5:04be really really really helpful uh for
- 5:07you because it provides the context for
- 5:10what's going on in Psalm 83. Okay. 2
- 5:15Chronicles 20 verse one starts like
- 5:17this. After this, the Moabites, the
- 5:19Ammonites, and some of the Munites came
- 5:23to wage war against Jehoshaphat. Okay,
- 5:25we're going to go to verse 13. Okay. All
- 5:28of the men of Judah and their wives and
- 5:31children and little ones stood there
- 5:32before the Lord. Okay, so they're on the
- 5:35battle lines. And it says this, "Then
- 5:37the spirit of the Lord came on Jehaziel,
- 5:40son of Zechariah, the son of Banayiah,
- 5:42the son of Jel, the son of Mataniah, a
- 5:45Levite, and a descendant of Asaf."
- 5:49Asaf's back. Okay, so anyway. All right.
- 5:52Sorry. I got so excited about Asaf just
- 5:54now. Okay. a descendant of Asaf as he
- 5:57stood in the assembly. All right. So the
- 6:00spirit of the Lord comes down on Jehazio
- 6:03and this is what he says. Says, "Listen,
- 6:05King Jehoshaphat and all who live in
- 6:07Judah and Jerusalem. This is what the
- 6:09Lord says to you. Do not be afraid or
- 6:11discouraged because of this vast army.
- 6:14For the battle is not yours, but God's."
- 6:17Okay? Tomorrow, march down against them.
- 6:20They will be climbing up by the pass of
- 6:22Ziz and you will find them at the end of
- 6:24the gorge in the desert of Jeriel Jer
- 6:28Jeriel
- 6:30you go Jeriel. You will not have to
- 6:33fight this battle. Take up your
- 6:34position. Stand firm and see the
- 6:36deliverance the Lord will give you Judah
- 6:38and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid. Do not
- 6:40be discouraged. Go out and face tomorrow
- 6:43and the Lord will be with you. Okay. So,
- 6:46we get one of Asaf's descendants who the
- 6:49spirit of the Lord comes on him and he
- 6:51begins to prophesy a word of
- 6:53encouragement. And here's what begins to
- 6:56happen. Okay, Jehoshaphat
- 6:58leads them out to battle and and says
- 7:01this. Okay, this is verse 21. After
- 7:04consulting the people, Jehoshaphat
- 7:06appointed men to sing, not fight, but to
- 7:10sing to the Lord and to praise him for
- 7:13the splendor of his holiness as they
- 7:16went out at the head of the army. Okay,
- 7:19so hey guys, this is like a football
- 7:22team being like, let let's get the
- 7:24cheerleaders. Hey, let's use
- 7:26cheerleaders as our as our defensive
- 7:29line, you know, so the quarterback
- 7:31doesn't get sacked or as our offensive
- 7:33line so the quarterback doesn't get
- 7:35sacked. Like, this is just ridiculous.
- 7:37Okay, so Jehoshaphat appointed men. Just
- 7:40sing. Hey, I know. I know they've got
- 7:43bows and arrows put at your face. I know
- 7:45that they're throwing spears. They're
- 7:47out here with swords. I'd like you to
- 7:50sing, you know. Can you please sing?
- 7:52Hey, choir. Choir, can we sing? All
- 7:55right, I love this. Sing to the Lord and
- 7:57to praise him for the splendor of his
- 8:00holiness. Okay, as they went out at the
- 8:03head of the army, not even behind the
- 8:04army, not next to the army, in front of
- 8:07the soldiers. How about you guys just
- 8:09sing? Okay, give thanks to the Lord for
- 8:12his love endures forever. That's what
- 8:13they started singing. Give thanks to the
- 8:15Lord for his love endures forever. As
- 8:17they began to sing and praise, the Lord
- 8:21set ambushes against the men of Ammon
- 8:24and Moab and Mount Seir who were
- 8:27invading Judah and they were defeated.
- 8:31The Ammonites and Moabites rose up
- 8:33against the men of Mount Seir to destroy
- 8:36and annihilate them. So allies are
- 8:38fighting against allies. After they
- 8:40finished slaughtering the men from Seir,
- 8:42they help to destroy one another. Okay,
- 8:46this is great. So, the only thing that
- 8:49the men had to do is sing and praise and
- 8:53God fought the battle for them. What a
- 8:58good story. And and honestly, what a
- 9:00timeless truth. I know you've probably
- 9:02been in church where we sing that song,
- 9:04this is how I fight my battles. This is
- 9:06how I fight my battles. This is how I
- 9:09Right. This is how I fight my battles.
- 9:10Like, man, worship is warfare. I don't
- 9:14know if there's a better story like in
- 9:17the Bible. And by the way, there are
- 9:18plethora of stories just like this all
- 9:22throughout the Bible where singing,
- 9:25where praise, where lifting up of hands,
- 9:29where physical expressive worship
- 9:33literally is the defining weapon in the
- 9:37battle because God is able to fight
- 9:40battles for us if we actually do the
- 9:43thing that elicits his presence, which
- 9:47is Praise and worship. This is how I
- 9:50fight my battles. Family, the wait is
- 9:53over. My brand new book, Crushing Chaos,
- 9:56is out now and available everywhere
- 9:59books are sold literally today. I walked
- 10:03into a Barnes & Noble and I signed a
- 10:06bunch of copies at a physical location.
- 10:08So, you can grab this book at a physical
- 10:11Barnes & Noble or you can go to a Books
- 10:13a Million or Amazon or anywhere books
- 10:16are sold and grab a copy. If you enjoy
- 10:20reading the Bible from an ancient
- 10:22perspective, if you understand that the
- 10:25beauty of scripture is actually knowing
- 10:26it in context, then you'll love this
- 10:29book. And if there's any chaos in your
- 10:32personal life, I think that reading the
- 10:34Bible from an ancient perspective can
- 10:36actually help to crush the chaos in your
- 10:39life. I think this book is going to be a
- 10:41New York Times bestseller. I really do.
- 10:43I think we wrote a good one. I think you
- 10:45should get a copy today. All right, back
- 10:48to the episode. So, the context for
- 10:51Psalm 83 is 2 Chronicles chapter 20. All
- 10:56right, just trying to give some context
- 10:57here. All right. Psalm 84. Okay. These
- 11:01this psalm is written by the sons of
- 11:03Kora. This is a lament and this is
- 11:06designed to be a longing for Jerusalem.
- 11:10Okay? A lament, a longing for Jerusalem.
- 11:14And this is another psalm for the feast
- 11:17of tabernacles. All right? We've seen
- 11:19this in Psalm 81 where Psalm 81 is all
- 11:24about desiring, longing for the feast of
- 11:27tabernacles. So, we're going to get to
- 11:28Psalm 84 and we're going to get the same
- 11:31exact place, but there's a longing to to
- 11:35be in the house of God. And there's this
- 11:38famous verse, okay? Psalm 84:10.
- 11:42Better is one day in your courts than a
- 11:44thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a
- 11:47doorkeeper in the house of my God than
- 11:49dwell in the tents of the wicked. I
- 11:52think that's actually one of the first
- 11:54verses that I memorized as a kid. Uh
- 11:56because I just went to a church that did
- 11:58liturgy every week and that passage was
- 12:01read every single week during the
- 12:03benediction or the opening. I can't
- 12:05really remember. I was really young
- 12:07talking like four, five, 6, 7, 8 years
- 12:10old. I I grew up going to this African
- 12:12Methodist Episcopal Church called
- 12:14Charles Street amme in Boston,
- 12:16Massachusetts. And part of the liturgy
- 12:20was to quote this verse. And so this one
- 12:22of the first verses that just got seared
- 12:24onto my memory as a young kid. And we're
- 12:26actually going to come back to it. Okay.
- 12:28Now, now that we've kind of got context,
- 12:31okay, for all three of these Psalms,
- 12:34Psalm 82, Psalm 83, and Psalm 84. All
- 12:38right. Now, we're going to actually get
- 12:40into some nerdy nuggets. And it's
- 12:42probably going to require most of my
- 12:44time to really dive into Psalm 82. So,
- 12:46if I don't get into any nerdy nuggets
- 12:47from Psalm 8384, I'm so sorry, okay? But
- 12:51Psalm 82 is huge because we have the
- 12:56divine council. Psalm 82 says this, "God
- 12:59provides in the great assembly. He
- 13:02renders judgment among the gods." Okay.
- 13:05Now, this idea has stumped scholars for
- 13:09a long time. What who are these gods?
- 13:12And what's this great assembly? What is
- 13:15this divine council that's meeting in
- 13:18the heavens? Why does God have a
- 13:20conference room? Why does he have a
- 13:21board? Like, what's going on? Why is God
- 13:24having meetings with people? And who is
- 13:26he having meetings with? All right,
- 13:29there are three options for how to
- 13:31interpret this stuff. And uh I'm going
- 13:33to save the best for last. And wink
- 13:36wink, the last one is the one I agree
- 13:38with. But anyway, I want to give you all
- 13:40three so that you can come to your own
- 13:42conclusion. And to be honest, do
- 13:44research. Look this stuff up. All right.
- 13:46To be honest, I could do an entire
- 13:48course on just the ideas that I'm about
- 13:51to share in the next two to three
- 13:52minutes. I'm not even going to do them
- 13:54justice as I'm going to give a very
- 13:57cursory overview of of the ideas for for
- 14:02this segment. So Psalm 82, we're going
- 14:04to have gods. Okay. Uh and I actually
- 14:08want to read this to you maybe in the
- 14:11NRSV just so that you can get a sense
- 14:14for some different language. Uh Psalm
- 14:1782. Psalm 82:1 says this, "God has taken
- 14:22his place in the divine council." So, if
- 14:24you're wondering why I'm using that
- 14:26language, well, the NRSV uses that exact
- 14:29language. Uh, so the great assembly is
- 14:32how the NIV has it. Divine Council is
- 14:36way more accurate. And so, you know, I
- 14:39love the fact I like this language,
- 14:40divine counsel. It's why I wanted to
- 14:42read it in the NRSV. Uh, in the midst of
- 14:45the gods, he holds judgment. Okay. In
- 14:49the midst of the gods, who are these
- 14:51gods? How long will you judge unjustly
- 14:54and show partiality to the wicked? Okay.
- 14:56Give justice to the weak and the orphan.
- 14:59Maintain the right of the lowly and the
- 15:02destitute. Rescue the weak and the
- 15:04needy. Deliver them from the hand of the
- 15:06wicked. They have neither knowledge nor
- 15:09understanding. They walk around in
- 15:11darkness. All the foundations of the
- 15:12earth are shaken. Okay. I say you are
- 15:16gods, children of the most high. All of
- 15:19you. Nevertheless, you shall die like
- 15:21mortals and fall uh like any prince.
- 15:25Rise up, oh God. Judge the earth, for
- 15:29all the nations belong to you. All
- 15:32right, that's Psalm 82. Let's give three
- 15:35options on what's happening here. First
- 15:38option, first legitimate option. Okay,
- 15:41you don't have to agree with option
- 15:43number three, which is the one I agree
- 15:45with, which is the right answer, but
- 15:47I've genuinely you can I want you to
- 15:49come to your own conclusions. Number
- 15:51one, this could be talking about human
- 15:54judges or leaders, okay? Humans,
- 15:57mortals, humans who have great
- 16:00responsibility, okay? when it comes to
- 16:02leadership. Okay. So these human judges
- 16:05or leaders or gods here should not be
- 16:08understood in the like demigod kind of
- 16:12understanding but rather this an ancient
- 16:14term to indicate those in authority to
- 16:16judge others. Okay. This psalm then
- 16:19would be a critique of Israel and
- 16:21Judah's failure of its judges and
- 16:23leaders to stop injustice in the land.
- 16:26All right. So perfectly legitimate way
- 16:29to execute this. That's also important
- 16:31to let people know there isn't like one
- 16:34right way to interpret a text. There are
- 16:37there could be multiple legitimate
- 16:40exoggetical options for one text. There
- 16:43are often times multiple legitimate
- 16:46exoggetical options for any given text.
- 16:48All right. So, human judges or leaders
- 16:51is what Psalm 82 could be talking about.
- 16:53Two, which I think is getting a little
- 16:55warmer, I'd say pagan gods. Okay. Pagan
- 16:58gods. here are are literally gods like
- 17:01lowercase G. And the psalm paints a
- 17:04picture of God summoning all gods. Okay,
- 17:06this is what we would say when we say
- 17:09God that Yahweh is king of kings, lord
- 17:12of lords, right? He's not just the only
- 17:16lord. The idea here would be that the
- 17:20old testament specifically is not
- 17:22primarily monotheistic, but monolitist.
- 17:26There's a difference. Monotheism is the
- 17:28belief in one god. Monolatry is the
- 17:30worship of one god. And uh I I would
- 17:33honestly say I think that the that the
- 17:35old and new testament but for sure the
- 17:37old testament has a monolatrous or
- 17:39reflects a manous worldview not
- 17:42necessarily a monotheistic worldview. So
- 17:44god is summoning all of the pagan gods
- 17:48to a council where he critiques them for
- 17:50the injustice of their peoples. the ones
- 17:53that worship them and follow their ways.
- 17:56So God is putting some of the blame for
- 18:00idol worship on the idols themselves,
- 18:03the pagan gods themselves. Okay, that's
- 18:06number three. That's number two. Number
- 18:08three, which is the one I like, but
- 18:10that's got nothing to do with the
- 18:10present in China. Okay, it's third one.
- 18:12Okay, our number three would be
- 18:15spiritual forces, which would mean gods
- 18:18are meant in the sense of the spiritual
- 18:20forces that oversee nations. This is
- 18:22part of a wider idea mostly based on
- 18:26Daniel with the prince of Persia. Okay,
- 18:30which says that Yahweh has given regions
- 18:33of the earth, regions of the earth,
- 18:35guardian spirits to oversee them. These
- 18:38then would be called the sons of Elohim,
- 18:41the sons of God, the divine counsel.
- 18:43They are in that sense responsible for
- 18:45what takes place in their jurisdiction.
- 18:48And so God critiques them for injustice
- 18:51that is found in their regions. This
- 18:55option I actually think is the best
- 18:58option. I think Paul is going to refer
- 19:00to this as the rulers of the age. I
- 19:02think Paul's going to refer to this as
- 19:04principalities and powers that there are
- 19:07spiritual forces and maybe these
- 19:09spiritual forces are manifesting as
- 19:11pagan gods. So then maybe we get a
- 19:13hybrid of two and three. But I
- 19:16definitely would lean towards spiritual
- 19:18forces that are supposed to be operating
- 19:23according to God's will but have clearly
- 19:27rebelled. Okay? Are in some kind of act
- 19:30of rebellion. All right? So those are
- 19:32the three options. Now I don't really
- 19:33have much time left at all. If that idea
- 19:36intrigues you, that like there's a
- 19:39council of other Elohim, lowercase E,
- 19:43Elohim, and that Yahweh is the Elohim of
- 19:47Elohim. He's the God of gods, and that
- 19:51he has appointed other spiritual beings
- 19:54to oversee nations, to oversee regions
- 19:58of the earth, and that maybe some of
- 20:00these have rebelled with Satan. Some of
- 20:03these spiritual beings have elicited
- 20:06worship from people and have become
- 20:08pagan gods. Like if that whole idea is
- 20:11new to you, foreign to you, then I would
- 20:13say you should you should Google Dr.
- 20:16Michael Heiser divine counsel and just
- 20:19dive in. Like just start listening to
- 20:22the man because he's brilliant and he's
- 20:24going to have a lot more to say about
- 20:26this than I could ever share on a short,
- 20:30you know, 20-minute podcast. So that is
- 20:32what my encouragement to you is going to
- 20:35be. Okay. So Psalm 82 has three
- 20:40different interpretive options. They are
- 20:42all fair options. Psalm 83, the context
- 20:46behind Psalm 83 is 2 Chronicles chapter
- 20:4820. And for Psalm 84, we're going to
- 20:52we're going to play it according to the
- 20:54same tune as Psalm 81 because it's a
- 20:57psalm of celebration. And the the verse
- 21:00that I really really really really
- 21:01really want to highlight today that's
- 21:03going to be the verse for our timeless
- 21:05truth is Psalm 84:10
- 21:08is really the anchor verse for our
- 21:10timeless truth for the day because this
- 21:13one verse has just echoed through the
- 21:15ages. I mean this is a popular verse. We
- 21:18we say it in church a lot. We quote this
- 21:21verse a lot. There's a recognition that
- 21:23hits at the heart of what it means to be
- 21:25human. This verse resonates with our
- 21:28humanity. We were made to dwell in the
- 21:30house of God. We are made in God's
- 21:34image. We are his idols, his icons.
- 21:37Okay? I don't know if you know this, but
- 21:39the word image like God made us in his
- 21:41image and in his likeness is the same
- 21:44word for when God says don't make any
- 21:47graven images. Okay? Okay. So in a real
- 21:50way like an image or an idol of Baal is
- 21:55made after the likeness of Baal. Okay.
- 21:59So when you worship the idol, you're
- 22:01worshiping Baal because the idol
- 22:02represents Baal. Okay? In the same way
- 22:05that when God made us in his image, our
- 22:09our design was for worship that that we
- 22:14reflect the glory of God around the
- 22:16earth. And that when people are
- 22:18impressed with our intelligence or our
- 22:22ingenuity or our compassion towards
- 22:24other people, it reflects good on who
- 22:27God is. Okay? So we are images of God
- 22:32designed to reflect his glory out in the
- 22:36world, which is what an idol is doing
- 22:39for their God. Okay? We were made, we
- 22:43were literally designed for worship.
- 22:45were designed to dwell in the house of
- 22:46God. Images of Yahweh that he has placed
- 22:50in his temple, aka the earth. Why does
- 22:54one day in his presence mean so much
- 22:56more than thousands elsewhere? It's a
- 22:59great question. Well, it's because his
- 23:03home, his presence, his courts truly are
- 23:08home for us. Home for our souls. home in
- 23:12terms of we are living out our design
- 23:14and our purpose. We recognize in his
- 23:17presence that it is where we are meant
- 23:19to be. It's where we were designed to
- 23:21be. There's a book by St. Augustine
- 23:24called Confessions. And uh I think that
- 23:27right in the beginning in the first part
- 23:29of the book, St. Augustine says says
- 23:31these words. They're really really
- 23:33powerful. I'm actually just going to
- 23:34read them from my laptop. Uh it says,
- 23:36"You have made us for yourself, O Lord,
- 23:39and our hearts are restless until they
- 23:42rest in you." You have made us for
- 23:45yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are
- 23:48restless until they rest in you.
- 23:50Confessions 1 one. And uh I think the
- 23:54reason that Augustine says this and that
- 23:56Augustine's words resonate true is
- 23:59because Psalm 84:10 is true. It's true
- 24:03in the highest sense of truth. It it
- 24:05literally resonates with the fiber of
- 24:08our being because it's what we were
- 24:10designed to do. Better is one day in
- 24:13your courts than a thousand elsewhere. I
- 24:16would rather be a doorkeeper in the
- 24:17house of my God than dwell in the tents
- 24:20of the wicked. It's funny. There's a
- 24:22girl on our launch team. Her name is
- 24:23Tati. I love Tati. Tatiana Eggbuna. And
- 24:27um it's funny because Tati when I met
- 24:30her she was a she was a women's health
- 24:33birth and health advocate advocate and
- 24:37uh she wanted to be a doula and she
- 24:39wanted to start a business for doulas
- 24:41and uh I remember one time we were at
- 24:43Thanksgiving and I said what's your
- 24:44dream she kind of started sharing a
- 24:46dream. I remember the Holy Spirit
- 24:47telling me while she was talking there's
- 24:49no way she's going to do that. Like
- 24:50that's not what I put her on this planet
- 24:52to do. Well, over the course of a long
- 24:55series of conversations actually between
- 24:56her and a girl on our team who started
- 24:59really pastoring her and mentoring her
- 25:00named Sarah, it became clear that Tati's
- 25:03creative that like why she went to
- 25:06school for medicine, I don't know that
- 25:08maybe parents pressuring her or people
- 25:11trying to put their identity onto her,
- 25:14but God designed her to be creative. And
- 25:19right now she's actually the creative
- 25:20director at our church and she's
- 25:22crushing it. She's doing an amazing job
- 25:25and she's helping other people launch
- 25:27podcasts and and and it's almost like
- 25:30Tati began to come alive when she began
- 25:33to do the thing that she was created to
- 25:35do. And maybe you've just been living
- 25:37life feeling like it just feels like I'm
- 25:41wearing somebody else's clothes, like
- 25:43I'm wearing somebody else's purpose or
- 25:45I'm I'm I'm not doing what I've been
- 25:47designed to do. Well, can I tell you
- 25:49that feeling is rooted in the fact that
- 25:51you've not yet taken your place in God's
- 25:53house. You've not yet enjoyed his
- 25:57presence. You are restless because you
- 26:00have yet to find rest in the one who
- 26:03made you. Psalm 84 is not just true for
- 26:06the sons of Kora. They're not just true
- 26:09in the context for which they were
- 26:11written. They're true forever. That
- 26:14better is one day in your courts than a
- 26:16thousand elsewhere. That you were made
- 26:19to be in the presence of God. Same way
- 26:21that Tatiana was made to be a creative.
- 26:24Created by God to be creative. You were
- 26:27created by God to reflect his image and
- 26:30to live in his temple and to image him.
- 26:34That's what you were made to do. And if
- 26:36you have yet to do that, your life will
- 26:40always lack purpose and meaning. And you
- 26:43probably don't need another career, but
- 26:45what you need to do is surrender to the
- 26:48lordship of Jesus so that you can
- 26:50actually take up your original design,
- 26:52which is to image and reflect the one
- 26:55who made you in his image. That's
- 26:59timelessly true. Tomorrow we got day
- 27:02280. We're going to be looking at Psalms
- 27:0485 and 86. And uh I'm super super
- 27:08excited that we get to continue our trek
- 27:11together through the book of Psalms. If
- 27:13you're on a streak, I'm proud of you no
- 27:15matter what. I love you and I'll see you

- 27:20time, same place. Love you. Peace.
