  8. 0:16not playing people

  25. 0:51we'll get into what he witnessed that
  26. 0:52drove him away from politics for a
  27. 0:54decade and how he reemerged on the other
  28. 0:56side of the aisle david's career
  29. 0:58originally celebrated by intellectuals
  30. 1:00disappeared from the cultural
  31. 1:01establishment almost overnight
  32. 1:03prior to conversion he had books praised
  33. 1:05by major mainstream media publications
  34. 1:07new york times la times the national
  35. 1:09book awards and then was widely ignored
  36. 1:11but david continued to be a prolific
  37. 1:13writer he used the anti-american beliefs
  38. 1:15and experiences from his early life to
  39. 1:17expose the damage to american society
  40. 1:19from the left
  41. 1:21in this episode david tells us about his
  42. 1:23advocation to fight fire with fire when
  43. 1:25it comes to leftists if the left makes
  44. 1:27politics without rising to higher
  45. 1:28purpose with social political activism
  46. 1:30the right will never win unless we fight
  47. 1:32that same way and we discuss his latest
  48. 1:34book the enemy within how a totalitarian
  49. 1:36movement is destroying america where
  50. 1:38david lays out how the democrat party's
  51. 1:40actions have pushed us to the brink of a
  52. 1:42one-party state

  67. 2:15awesome guests david horowitz thanks so
  68. 2:17much for joining the show thanks for
  69. 2:18having me ben it's it's actually an
  70. 2:21honor to be on with such a warrior for
  71. 2:23our country
  72. 2:25which is under attack from within i
  73. 2:27really appreciate that so we're going to
  74. 2:28get to
  75. 2:29what is happening in terms of your new
  76. 2:31book and and modern politics in just a
  77. 2:33second but for folks who really don't
  78. 2:34know your early work i think it's
  79. 2:36important that folks know your
  80. 2:37background you started off as a
  81. 2:38full-fledged communist essentially so
  82. 2:41maybe you can explain your
  83. 2:42transformation you started off in
  84. 2:44natural commun communist family yeah
  85. 2:47this book i've written the enemy within
  86. 2:49how a totalitarian movement is
  87. 2:52destroying america
  88. 2:54i
  89. 2:55is a book written from my own sort of
  90. 2:57biography i was brought up by communists
  91. 3:00i was
  92. 3:02one of the founders of the new left i
  93. 3:04edited its largest magazine
  94. 3:07and i left the left when i
  95. 3:10realized that it wasn't about social
  96. 3:12justice it wasn't about peace
  97. 3:15it was about hating and destroying
  98. 3:18america
  99. 3:19and this was brought home to me
  100. 3:22when the left got its greatest victory
  101. 3:25which was to drive america out of
  102. 3:27vietnam
  103. 3:28when the communists came in
  104. 3:30they proceeded to slaughter two and a
  105. 3:32half million indo-chinese peasants
  106. 3:35and there was not one single
  107. 3:38demonstration by the so-called anti-war
  108. 3:41movement
  109. 3:42and i knew then that the my leftist
  110. 3:45friends didn't give a damn about the
  111. 3:47vietnamese
  112. 3:48they discussed the way they don't care
  113. 3:50about black people or any minorities
  114. 3:53what they care about is their hatred for
  115. 3:56america and destroying it from the
  116. 3:58foundations up
  117. 4:01so as you've talked about growing up in
  118. 4:03a communist family you see a lot of
  119. 4:04people now young people who are
  120. 4:06resonating to the the messages of karl
  121. 4:08marx and of socialism and communism what
  122. 4:10is the appeal i i don't think it's
  123. 4:12predominantly an economic appeal as much
  124. 4:14as it is sort of a an almost spiritual
  125. 4:16appeal
  126. 4:17it's a religious it's a crypto religion
  127. 4:21they believe that the world is a corrupt
  128. 4:23place uh
  129. 4:24it used to be because of corporations
  130. 4:27now it's corporations and white people
  131. 4:30um
  132. 4:31and they believe that they're the
  133. 4:32they're the redeemers so they're going
  134. 4:35to act like gods that's why they look i
  135. 4:37mean
  136. 4:38why would you open the southern border
  137. 4:40in the midst of a global pandemic
  138. 4:43and let in a hundred thousand
  139. 4:45that's the figure coronavirus carrier
  140. 4:48carriers
  141. 4:49uh
  142. 4:50why would you abuse children on the
  143. 4:52scale that biden and harris are abusing
  144. 4:55them
  145. 4:56on the southern
  146. 4:57border if you cared about people
  147. 5:00uh
  148. 5:01why would you be
  149. 5:03conflating black criminals
  150. 5:06uh with civil rights workers which is
  151. 5:09what the black lives matter movement is
  152. 5:11about
  153. 5:12and why would you burn cities
  154. 5:14you do it because you hate america and
  155. 5:17why
  156. 5:18they put in a curriculum in our schools
  157. 5:20that's backed by the biden
  158. 5:22government the 1619 project it's a pack
  159. 5:26of lies
  160. 5:27that
  161. 5:28the idea is to
  162. 5:30make america's founding be
  163. 5:33slavery and racism
  164. 5:35the 20 africans who were shipped to the
  165. 5:37virginia colony in
  166. 5:391619 were not slaves and slavery was
  167. 5:43outlawed in the virginia colony and the
  168. 5:45virginia colony was not america it was
  169. 5:48an english colony
  170. 5:50that doesn't phase them from teaching
  171. 5:52this to k-12
  172. 5:55students so
  173. 5:56the whole purpose
  174. 5:58is to make them hate their own country
  175. 6:01david one of the things that's really
  176. 6:02interesting sort of about your life and
  177. 6:03career is that you seem to have moved in
  178. 6:04precisely the opposite direction that
  179. 6:06the country has moved so you started off
  180. 6:08as a communist when you were very young
  181. 6:10and you moved through the new left you
  182. 6:12edited rampart's magazine and and now
  183. 6:14you're a member of the of the right the
  184. 6:16country as a whole started off as a
  185. 6:18conservative country in the time that
  186. 6:20you were growing up it was a country
  187. 6:21that very much opposed this sort of
  188. 6:22fringe communist radical movement and
  189. 6:25now as you mentioned this has become the
  190. 6:26mainstream in the united states the
  191. 6:28counterculture is now the culture and
  192. 6:30the and the culture is now the
  193. 6:31counterculture how is it that the the
  194. 6:34arguments that you were making when you
  195. 6:35were young and that you grew out of and
  196. 6:37realized were wrong how have they gained
  197. 6:38such unbelievable cultural purchase
  198. 6:40first of all let me say you know if
  199. 6:42you're being attacked by marxists they
  200. 6:44always say you're selling out if you
  201. 6:46move to the right
  202. 6:47and in fact you know i would be
  203. 6:50the subject of a hollywood movie if i
  204. 6:53had stayed on the left and and written
  205. 6:55by autobiography
  206. 6:56uh
  207. 6:59it's seductive
  208. 7:01it's not only their message is very
  209. 7:03seductive we're going to help poor
  210. 7:05people the vulnerable the least among us
  211. 7:08all that baloney since their policies
  212. 7:11are
  213. 7:12hurting
  214. 7:13uh if you defund the police who are the
  215. 7:16people who are
  216. 7:18you know going to suffer the most poor
  217. 7:20minorities in the inner city
  218. 7:22that's their sole protection
  219. 7:25um
  220. 7:26or you
  221. 7:28if you let
  222. 7:29violent criminals run across the border
  223. 7:32and enter the country who are they going
  224. 7:33to prey on they're going to prey on his
  225. 7:36poor hispanic people
  226. 7:38they're not they're not going to go into
  227. 7:40gated communities in beverly hills so
  228. 7:43it's very seductive
  229. 7:45but also we have a generation now or
  230. 7:48several generations of complete
  231. 7:50ignoramuses
  232. 7:52um i wrote
  233. 7:55the the big problem we have is that
  234. 7:57conservatives tend to be complacent
  235. 8:00so it's live and let live that's a
  236. 8:01conservative idea
  237. 8:03um
  238. 8:05so you know i wrote five books about the
  239. 8:07communist takeover of the universities
  240. 8:09and you know some of them got attention
  241. 8:13um but the republican party did nothing
  242. 8:16i got no support from the conservative
  243. 8:19movement
  244. 8:21you know to
  245. 8:22protect academic freedom in the schools
  246. 8:24and stop the indoctrination that was
  247. 8:26going on it's only now that people are
  248. 8:29beginning to wake up so you have a whole
  249. 8:31generation to have no idea what america
  250. 8:33is about
  251. 8:34that you know to them uh you know
  252. 8:36they've been all brought up on the
  253. 8:38communist howard zinn's
  254. 8:40uh people's history of
  255. 8:42the united states
  256. 8:44uh they they think
  257. 8:47you know the way they look at the
  258. 8:48founding is it's a bunch of slave owners
  259. 8:50and racists
  260. 8:52when the opposite is true
  261. 8:54i mean
  262. 8:55every black person in america always a
  263. 8:57debt of gratitude to this country
  264. 9:00for declaring for the first time in 3
  265. 9:02000 years in 1776
  266. 9:06that all men are created equal and have
  267. 9:08a god-given right
  268. 9:09to liberty
  269. 9:11and then within a little over a
  270. 9:13generation
  271. 9:14sacrificing 350 000 mainly white lives
  272. 9:19to free the slaves
  273. 9:21when this they were all enslaved by
  274. 9:24black africans and sold at auctions in
  275. 9:27africa
  276. 9:28so you know the reality is that black
  277. 9:30people enslaved each other and white
  278. 9:33people liberated them
  279. 9:35but
  280. 9:36to say that in today's climate what
  281. 9:39makes me a racist so david i think it's
  282. 9:41important here to point out that your
  283. 9:43bona fides with regard to to race
  284. 9:45particularly of the left were pretty
  285. 9:48sterling up until you made the move to
  286. 9:50the right so you started off in in
  287. 9:51solidarity with for example the black
  288. 9:53panther party what was it uh in your
  289. 9:55story for folks who don't know that
  290. 9:56drove you away from that well the black
  291. 9:58panthers murdered a friend of mine uh i
  292. 10:01had raised a lot of money and bought a
  293. 10:03baptist church in east oakland
  294. 10:06and turned it into a learning center for
  295. 10:09the panther children
  296. 10:11and i believed our own propaganda so i
  297. 10:14thought the state is racist
  298. 10:17and if they don't keep
  299. 10:19their books properly i had created a tax
  300. 10:22exempt foundation
  301. 10:24to fund this school
  302. 10:26if they don't keep proper books they'll
  303. 10:28be closed down i was completely wrong i
  304. 10:31mean jesse jackson and al sharpton have
  305. 10:33violated the
  306. 10:35tax laws for
  307. 10:37half a century and nobody's going to
  308. 10:39touch them
  309. 10:40because they're black and leftist
  310. 10:42um so i recruited my bookkeeper from
  311. 10:45them i i was editing ramparts the
  312. 10:48largest magazine of the left
  313. 10:50and i recruited her
  314. 10:52um to do the bookkeeping for the school
  315. 10:54and in december
  316. 10:561974 she disappeared she was in a local
  317. 11:00bar and
  318. 11:01two blacks came in and she left with
  319. 11:04them so she obviously knew them she was
  320. 11:07working for the panther party
  321. 11:09and uh
  322. 11:10five or six weeks later her body was
  323. 11:12fished out of san francisco bay
  324. 11:15and from my you know the police
  325. 11:17interviewed me and they
  326. 11:19explained a lot i've written about this
  327. 11:21in a book called radical son
  328. 11:23um
  329. 11:24i knew the panthers had killed her and
  330. 11:26uh that happened about simultaneously
  331. 11:30when the left was permitting was not
  332. 11:33protesting the slaughter of two and a
  333. 11:35half million
  334. 11:36in no chinese peasants by
  335. 11:39by the communists i knew that the left
  336. 11:41was evil
  337. 11:42and i dedicated the rest of my life to
  338. 11:45finding it
  339. 11:46it said david let's talk for a second
  340. 11:47about the the shift that we've seen over
  341. 11:49the past half century or more from the
  342. 11:52sort of class-based argument that used
  343. 11:54to be made by marxist to a pretty openly
  344. 11:55race-based argument that is now made by
  345. 11:58marxists it's a sort of fascinating
  346. 11:59shift because obviously marxism is
  347. 12:02class-based conflict the ideas class
  348. 12:03solidarity regardless of color and now
  349. 12:06that's been transmuted into the sort of
  350. 12:09intersectional
  351. 12:11racial conflagration that we've seen
  352. 12:12where instead of being a class-based
  353. 12:14conflict it's supposed to be a
  354. 12:15race-based conflict that poor white
  355. 12:17appalachians are not in fact poor and
  356. 12:19white they're privileged and rich black
  357. 12:21people are not in fact privileged they
  358. 12:23are black and everything can be divided
  359. 12:25by race as opposed to by class and yet
  360. 12:27somehow this fits within the marxist box
  361. 12:29how did that happen what does it mean
  362. 12:31if you're looking for logic don't look
  363. 12:33don't
  364. 12:35look at a leftist
  365. 12:37look marx was a crackpot everything that
  366. 12:39he said of any importance has been
  367. 12:42proven false
  368. 12:43over the last 150 years
  369. 12:49we knew that the proletariat was not
  370. 12:52going to be a revolutionary force
  371. 12:54because they are if you remember that
  372. 12:56well you're too young to remember but
  373. 12:58the hard hats in the 60s
  374. 13:01the construction workers were beating up
  375. 13:04uh new leftists uh
  376. 13:06in their when they did their marches
  377. 13:09um so the the working class was not
  378. 13:12going to make a revolution
  379. 13:14uh and so it was it was natural to move
  380. 13:17to cultural marxism uh an italian
  381. 13:21communist named antonio gramsci
  382. 13:23came up with this
  383. 13:25theory
  384. 13:26um that the
  385. 13:29the attack on the class system was
  386. 13:31misplaced we should be attacking
  387. 13:33leftists should be attacking the culture
  388. 13:36and as it happened the vietnam war came
  389. 13:38along
  390. 13:39and the left didn't want to fight the
  391. 13:41communists in vietnam so they stayed in
  392. 13:44the universities and became professors
  393. 13:47and they made this the curriculum
  394. 13:49uh cultural marxism is the menace that
  395. 13:52we
  396. 13:53face today it's pure racism identity
  397. 13:57politics it's also called pure racism
  398. 14:00black people good white people bad but
  399. 14:03of course it's not
  400. 14:04all black people that are good
  401. 14:07if they're conservatives then they're
  402. 14:09raised right
  403. 14:10traders
  404. 14:12but
  405. 14:12you know today's generations don't have
  406. 14:15the basic knowledge
  407. 14:17for example when i came out of the left
  408. 14:19um i i
  409. 14:21we we had been attacking america
  410. 14:24um and when i saw how evil the left was
  411. 14:27i took a second look at america um
  412. 14:30and i
  413. 14:32it was an ingenious
  414. 14:34political system they created of checks
  415. 14:36and balances
  416. 14:38and what i described it by new book the
  417. 14:40enemy within is how the democrat party
  418. 14:42you look at the democrat party over the
  419. 14:44last decade they are systematically
  420. 14:46destroying
  421. 14:48the american political system
  422. 14:51the system of checks and balances if you
  423. 14:53pack the supreme court
  424. 14:55you eliminate the independent judiciary
  425. 14:58and legislators
  426. 15:00not only appoint the supreme court
  427. 15:02justices but they
  428. 15:05they get to make any law they want
  429. 15:07unconstitutional or not
  430. 15:08they've attacked the
  431. 15:10voter id
  432. 15:12this is racist the democrats claim that
  433. 15:16poor black people are too stupid to get
  434. 15:19a photo id
  435. 15:21you can't get food stamps without a
  436. 15:23photo id you can't get welfare you can't
  437. 15:26get prescription drugs you can't get
  438. 15:28into the democrat convention
  439. 15:31and if it were actually the case which
  440. 15:33it's not since blacks are voting in
  441. 15:35record numbers
  442. 15:36that voter id was a problem the solution
  443. 15:39is really simple you set up a government
  444. 15:42agency to provide photo ids to any
  445. 15:44american who
  446. 15:47asks for one and deserves one that is
  447. 15:49their citizens they're not dead they
  448. 15:51haven't moved to another state the
  449. 15:53democrats never propose this they just
  450. 15:55want to eliminate voter id
  451. 15:57because they are determined to create a
  452. 16:00one-party state which is the last
  453. 16:03sentence of my book
  454. 16:04it's not about trump
  455. 16:07it's not about winning one election it's
  456. 16:09about establishing a one-party state
  457. 16:12and the term for these people is
  458. 16:15fascists or communists it's the same
  459. 16:17thing
  460. 16:18that's the appropriate term
  461. 16:20for nancy pelosi
  462. 16:22and uh and but in the biden white house
  463. 16:25they're
  464. 16:26they do what fascists do
  465. 16:28they attack they demonize their
  466. 16:30opponents
  467. 16:32if you're a republican according to
  468. 16:34nancy pelosi you're an enemy of the
  469. 16:36state
  470. 16:37how how much clearer do you need to hear
  471. 16:40it from them that they're fascists
  472. 16:43what happened on january 6 reminds me of
  473. 16:45the reichstag fire
  474. 16:48if you read trump's speech that he gave
  475. 16:50on january first of all trump asked in
  476. 16:53advance
  477. 16:54for he offered to provide 10 000 troops
  478. 16:57to guard the capital on january 6th
  479. 17:00because he knew it was a volatile
  480. 17:01situation he was turned down
  481. 17:04deliberately by nancy pelosi and the
  482. 17:06democrats so that there were no troops
  483. 17:08there
  484. 17:09the speech he gave said
  485. 17:11uh this was a rigged election which it
  486. 17:13obviously was
  487. 17:15it's a rigged election uh we need to
  488. 17:18challenge it and we have these weak
  489. 17:20republicans who won't have the
  490. 17:22cohonies to challenge it so you've got
  491. 17:24to go there and stiffen their spines
  492. 17:27and if and do it peacefully he said and
  493. 17:30patriotically and if you fail
  494. 17:33what do you have to do you must go home
  495. 17:35this is what he said you must go home
  496. 17:38and work to primary the weak republicans
  497. 17:42in the next election you couldn't have a
  498. 17:45clearer
  499. 17:47democratic voice with a small d
  500. 17:50then pelosi not only said that all
  501. 17:53republicans
  502. 17:55are enemies of the state but they they
  503. 17:58called this an armed insurrection they
  504. 18:00arrested something like 300 people no
  505. 18:04arms not one arm was found it was a
  506. 18:08it was a
  507. 18:09it was what the the democrats have been
  508. 18:11calling a peaceful protest
  509. 18:13uh rowdy but basically peaceful they
  510. 18:16didn't destroy a lot
  511. 18:18they're charred the legal charges
  512. 18:20against them
  513. 18:21are trespassing
  514. 18:23and they're still in jail
  515. 18:25five months later they're still in jail
  516. 18:29held without uh
  517. 18:32parole or whatever you call without bail
  518. 18:36because the democrats have this myth of
  519. 18:38an armed insurrection
  520. 18:40that they want to use to create a
  521. 18:43one-party state to so demonize the
  522. 18:45opposition they call for the expulsion
  523. 18:48of senators holly and cruz
  524. 18:51for questioning
  525. 18:52the election the democrats have
  526. 18:55questioned every
  527. 18:57republican victory in the national
  528. 18:59election since 1980
  529. 19:02including they have never accepted as
  530. 19:04legitimate the trump presidency
  531. 19:07so they're hypocrites they're liars but
  532. 19:09the most important thing is that they're
  533. 19:11fascists
  534. 19:12why do i say the reichstag fire the
  535. 19:15weimar republic was a democracy
  536. 19:18hitler was elected chancellor the first
  537. 19:21thing the nazis did was burn their own
  538. 19:24capital which was the rice tag then they
  539. 19:26blamed it on a dutch communist
  540. 19:29then they
  541. 19:31passed the reichstag fire act
  542. 19:34which
  543. 19:35criminalized their opponents and set the
  544. 19:38foundations for the third reich
  545. 19:40and i know this sounds inflammatory but
  546. 19:43it's dead-on accurate to what's
  547. 19:46happening in our country
  548. 19:48if you you look now that the jews are
  549. 19:50under attack from nazi palestinian nazis
  550. 19:54who openly call for the genocide of the
  551. 19:57jews the destruction of the israel and
  552. 20:00making it
  553. 20:02jew-free
  554. 20:03eudenrein which is what the nazis called
  555. 20:05it and you have in chicago yesterday
  556. 20:08demonstrations from these
  557. 20:11nazi leftists we have to start calling
  558. 20:14things by their right names the
  559. 20:16democrats call republicans enemies of
  560. 20:18the state
  561. 20:19armed insurrectionists traitors
  562. 20:23white supremacists
  563. 20:25racists
  564. 20:26and the mccarthy republicans are calling
  565. 20:29them
  566. 20:30liberals
  567. 20:31you can't win that battle as long as we
  568. 20:34don't use the proper language we're not
  569. 20:36going to be winning this battle and our
  570. 20:39country is at stake it's
  571. 20:41it's fast going
  572. 20:43it's eroding as we speak so david i want
  573. 20:46to get into a little bit of the detail
  574. 20:47of what you talked about there on
  575. 20:48january 6th and some of the details that
  576. 20:50you mentioned about the election so you
  577. 20:51suggested that the election is rigged i
  578. 20:53just wanted to dig a little deeper there
  579. 20:54as to what you mean by that so i don't
  580. 20:56see the evidence that fraud and
  581. 20:58irregularity are responsible for the
  582. 21:00vote outcome i've said that the election
  583. 21:02was rigged by the media that the media
  584. 21:04have obscured every single fact in that
  585. 21:06election cycle that the media blacked
  586. 21:08out all coverage of hunter biden for the
  587. 21:09last month of the election if they lied
  588. 21:11openly about what was going on with
  589. 21:13kovid they suggested andrew cuomo knew
  590. 21:14what he was doing but trump was somehow
  591. 21:16at fault for the vast wave of covid they
  592. 21:18suggested that trump was a vicious
  593. 21:20racist who was about to establish a
  594. 21:22tyrannical government despite
  595. 21:24no evidence that tyranny was on the way
  596. 21:26they suggested that he was a russian
  597. 21:28cat's paw that basically if you're
  598. 21:30talking about the sort of informal
  599. 21:31rigging of an election the media are the
  600. 21:33the political
  601. 21:35communications arm of the democratic
  602. 21:37party at this point and that's enough to
  603. 21:38twist an election uh when you say rig
  604. 21:40the election what exactly do you mean
  605. 21:42well
  606. 21:43in my book the enemy within i described
  607. 21:46what happened
  608. 21:47in july
  609. 21:49uh of 2020 about what is that six or
  610. 21:52seven or seven months out from the
  611. 21:53election
  612. 21:55the democrats sent 600 lawyers and 10
  613. 21:58000 volunteers into the 50 states
  614. 22:01to change the election laws
  615. 22:04so that it would
  616. 22:06to benefit themselves
  617. 22:08and what they did was unconstitutional
  618. 22:11for example in pennsylvania well first
  619. 22:13of all the constitution says the
  620. 22:15election laws
  621. 22:18are set up by each
  622. 22:20individual state it's a brilliant idea
  623. 22:22it decentralizes the power
  624. 22:25so the 50 state legislatures are
  625. 22:28supposed to set the rules in
  626. 22:30pennsylvania for example they changed
  627. 22:33the law so that the supreme court which
  628. 22:35was run by the democrats of pennsylvania
  629. 22:39they made the election laws and they did
  630. 22:41it
  631. 22:42in in a way that biased that
  632. 22:45there's about a million
  633. 22:474.4
  634. 22:49votes
  635. 22:51that were illegally cast because they
  636. 22:53were cast in contravention
  637. 22:56of the existing rules
  638. 22:58but with the new rules set up by the
  639. 23:00democrat supreme court
  640. 23:02um
  641. 23:05here's the thing nobody actually knows i
  642. 23:08i don't claim
  643. 23:09that the uh the election
  644. 23:12was decided
  645. 23:14by fraud i claimed that there was
  646. 23:16massive fraud committed during the
  647. 23:18election
  648. 23:19we we cannot say for certain and
  649. 23:21certainly the democrats when they accuse
  650. 23:23anybody who questions the election of
  651. 23:25treason are
  652. 23:26talking through their hats because there
  653. 23:28has been no audit
  654. 23:31none of the election result and that's
  655. 23:34because of the war the democrats have
  656. 23:36conducted
  657. 23:37against every effort
  658. 23:39to actually recount the votes and look
  659. 23:42at what actually
  660. 23:44happened
  661. 23:45trump got 10 million more votes than he
  662. 23:48got the first time despite all the
  663. 23:50slander of the media
  664. 23:52biden
  665. 23:53couldn't hold a uh demonstrating
  666. 23:56campaign from his basement he's an
  667. 23:59advanced case of alzheimer's
  668. 24:01everybody knows it
  669. 24:03he's ah he's being manipulated as
  670. 24:06president by somebody has to ask
  671. 24:08permission to answer reporters questions
  672. 24:11come on
  673. 24:12this guy who couldn't assemble a crowd
  674. 24:15of larger than 100 people
  675. 24:17while trump was assembling crowds of 50
  676. 24:20000
  677. 24:21in little towns like butler pennsylvania
  678. 24:24population 1240
  679. 24:27and we're asked to believe
  680. 24:29that joe biden
  681. 24:31got 16
  682. 24:33million more votes than obama did at his
  683. 24:36peak
  684. 24:37so
  685. 24:38any reasonable person and there's so
  686. 24:41many other facts that have come out
  687. 24:42about this but any and i've listed them
  688. 24:45a lot of them in in my book the enemy
  689. 24:47within
  690. 24:49um
  691. 24:50you you have to be smoking something to
  692. 24:52think that that election is not
  693. 24:54problematic
  694. 24:55and basically that's what republicans
  695. 24:58are saying that is you know trump
  696. 25:00as he should as a as a leader as the the
  697. 25:03person who was
  698. 25:04probably deprived lets me put it that
  699. 25:06way of the presidency
  700. 25:09but certainly the subject of
  701. 25:11massive
  702. 25:12irregularities he has every right to
  703. 25:15claim that it was fraudulent but it's a
  704. 25:17claim
  705. 25:18the democrats have no right to claim
  706. 25:20that there was no fraud because that's
  707. 25:23just demonstrably a lie
  708. 25:25so david when you talked about january
  709. 25:276th obviously the response by the
  710. 25:29democrats to january 6th from my view
  711. 25:31regardless of what you think of january
  712. 25:326th and i thought that it was a horrible
  713. 25:34sight to see people invading the capital
  714. 25:36um i thought that you know the the
  715. 25:39language of insurrection uh was a
  716. 25:41bizarre use of the term considering that
  717. 25:43there was no institutional support for
  718. 25:45anything that was done there in fact the
  719. 25:46election was certified later that day by
  720. 25:48the same republicans who were supposedly
  721. 25:50aiding in the insurrection cruz and
  722. 25:52holly voted to certify the election that
  723. 25:53same day
  724. 25:55putting aside january 6th for a second
  725. 25:57the authoritarian left's move against
  726. 25:59freedom of speech in the aftermath of
  727. 26:01that is the thing that alarms me
  728. 26:03significantly more than than 200 300
  729. 26:06misguided people invading the capital in
  730. 26:08defiance of what trump actually said
  731. 26:10the fact is that they knocked parlor
  732. 26:11offline uh they decided that they were
  733. 26:13going to start in the media openly
  734. 26:15militating uh for the for fox news to be
  735. 26:18removed from the air uh they started
  736. 26:20suggesting that advertisers needed to
  737. 26:22pull from every single conservative
  738. 26:24oriented show
  739. 26:25and and then they started pushing
  740. 26:27forward with with things like hr one
  741. 26:29which is a comp that actually is an
  742. 26:30attempt to rig elections by federalizing
  743. 26:32all election procedures up to it
  744. 26:33including ballot harvesting they want to
  745. 26:35legislate what they actually did in this
  746. 26:38last election
  747. 26:39to federalize it
  748. 26:41is a
  749. 26:42tremendous blow at the structure of our
  750. 26:44country which is a federalist country we
  751. 26:47we have 50 states making election laws
  752. 26:50so if you have one or two or three
  753. 26:52corrupt states you still
  754. 26:55have an election that's
  755. 26:57got integrity mainly but if you put it
  756. 27:00all in washington and you put it in the
  757. 27:02hands of the democrats forget it but
  758. 27:05they've been waging a war against the
  759. 27:06first amendment uh you know since
  760. 27:10trump's nomination actually before that
  761. 27:12but certainly since trump's dominant you
  762. 27:14know look
  763. 27:15to go back to where it really started
  764. 27:17they called bush hitler
  765. 27:20you can't in a democracy if you demonize
  766. 27:23your opponents if you call them
  767. 27:25hitlerites
  768. 27:27um
  769. 27:30it's it's the end you can't have a
  770. 27:32dialogue they
  771. 27:34they boycotted the trump presidency they
  772. 27:37called him a white supremacist trump
  773. 27:39was known to every american practically
  774. 27:42for 30 years nobody ever
  775. 27:44before he ran against a democrat nobody
  776. 27:47ever said
  777. 27:48introduced him as here's donald trump uh
  778. 27:51host of the apprentice and a white
  779. 27:54supremacist
  780. 27:55that is to demonize and
  781. 27:59silence
  782. 28:01all the opposition that's not democratic
  783. 28:04and then and it's it's like i said it's
  784. 28:07just systematic the electoral college is
  785. 28:10the same thing the
  786. 28:12voter id the packing of the supreme
  787. 28:14court they want to abolish the senate
  788. 28:17um
  789. 28:18dingle
  790. 28:19charles i forget his first name but he
  791. 28:21was the longest serving
  792. 28:24john dingle right longest serving
  793. 28:27congressman ever
  794. 28:29last act was to write an article calling
  795. 28:32for the abolition of the senate and if
  796. 28:34you listen to those media liars like
  797. 28:37o'donnell
  798. 28:39uh
  799. 28:40if you listen to them
  800. 28:42they say this that of course the senate
  801. 28:44is undemocratic wyoming with 500 000
  802. 28:47people has two senators and so does
  803. 28:49california with whatever it is 40
  804. 28:52million
  805. 28:53that was the idea
  806. 28:55of the founding we are a republic we're
  807. 28:58not a one-person one-vote democracy
  808. 29:02and there was a reason for that and it's
  809. 29:05the founders were absolutely brilliant
  810. 29:08they put sovereignty in the hands of the
  811. 29:10people because they understand
  812. 29:12that individuals can be corrupt
  813. 29:15and therefore a monarch can be a very
  814. 29:17dangerous
  815. 29:19leader a ruler
  816. 29:21so they put sovereignty in the hands of
  817. 29:23the people but because
  818. 29:25actually as
  819. 29:26readers of the
  820. 29:28judeo-christian bible
  821. 29:30they knew that the problem
  822. 29:33the so the problem the source of all
  823. 29:35social problems is not race it's not
  824. 29:38gender it's us
  825. 29:41it's individuals
  826. 29:42people are corrupt
  827. 29:44and therefore you have to put a check on
  828. 29:46you know hitler was elected people
  829. 29:50they the founders understood the danger
  830. 29:52of pure democracy so they put in the
  831. 29:56system of checks and balances which
  832. 29:59kids are not being taught anymore
  833. 30:00they're just being taught about
  834. 30:02imaginary white racism
  835. 30:04in school and
  836. 30:06gender fluidity that that's that's the
  837. 30:08curriculum now in our schools
  838. 30:11but the founders understood the basic
  839. 30:14problem
  840. 30:15is individuals
  841. 30:17and and you know it's mind-boggling to
  842. 30:20me because now we have all these
  843. 30:23television programs you know about
  844. 30:26murders almost every channel
  845. 30:29you see how horrible people are
  846. 30:34that's the problem how do you control
  847. 30:36that
  848. 30:37and the democrats are dismantling
  849. 30:40and
  850. 30:41dedicated to dismantling the system
  851. 30:44that has worked you know for 240 years
  852. 30:48or whatever however long we've been here
  853. 30:51so let's talk about the democratic party
  854. 30:52so it used to be that the democratic
  855. 30:54party was the party of harry truman or
  856. 30:55the party of scoop jackson or more
  857. 30:57recently the party of joe lieberman to a
  858. 30:59certain extent
  859. 31:00and now they seem to have completely
  860. 31:02lost their moorings nancy pelosi who was
  861. 31:04a
  862. 31:04fringe left-wing figure is now the
  863. 31:06speaker of the house chuck schumer who
  864. 31:08was a fringe left-wing figure is now the
  865. 31:10senate majority leader and joe biden who
  866. 31:13is basically just an empty suit at this
  867. 31:15point i mean they're just wheeling him
  868. 31:16around i is is supposedly running the
  869. 31:19show but it's fairly obvious that the
  870. 31:20democratic party has become
  871. 31:21extraordinarily radical that the
  872. 31:23radicals from the 1960s entered all the
  873. 31:25halls of power so what happened to the
  874. 31:26democratic party yeah kavala harris grew
  875. 31:29up in a family of marxists
  876. 31:32bernie sanders is a lifelong supporter
  877. 31:34of communist atrocities as the head of
  878. 31:37the budget committee we could go on and
  879. 31:39on
  880. 31:39um i
  881. 31:41i i've written this in several books
  882. 31:44but where it started to go bad was at
  883. 31:47the democrat convention in 1968
  884. 31:50when tom hayden organized a riot
  885. 31:54to destroy the electoral chances of
  886. 31:56hubert humphrey who had been lyndon
  887. 31:58johnson's vice president
  888. 32:00and was the democrat nominee for
  889. 32:02president they hated humphrey with
  890. 32:06a 95 ada liberal he was down the line
  891. 32:10uh
  892. 32:12liberal leftist
  893. 32:14but he was an anti-communist
  894. 32:16and that was their sin
  895. 32:18the left wanted the communists to win
  896. 32:21the cold war what can i say
  897. 32:24that's where the left is they hate
  898. 32:26america and they are either
  899. 32:30stupid
  900. 32:31or blind they're blinded by their hatred
  901. 32:34of america just the way they're blinded
  902. 32:35by their hatred of trump
  903. 32:37to see the reality
  904. 32:39of the threats that face us
  905. 32:42um
  906. 32:44after that riot humphrey lost the
  907. 32:46election to nixon
  908. 32:48and then tom hayden and jane fonda led
  909. 32:51the left which had been
  910. 32:53trying to burn down the country there
  911. 32:54were many many bombings
  912. 32:57in the late 60s and early 70s they led
  913. 33:00these leftists who were trying to
  914. 33:02destroy the country into the democrat
  915. 33:04party
  916. 33:05uh during the mcgovern campaign because
  917. 33:07mcgovern had started with a you know the
  918. 33:10pro-communist henry wallace that's where
  919. 33:12he started his political career
  920. 33:14um
  921. 33:15and the theme his theme of his campaign
  922. 33:18was america come home like we were the
  923. 33:20problem
  924. 33:22instead of the solution um
  925. 33:25and they created these leftist caucuses
  926. 33:28the black caucus which is a farrakhanite
  927. 33:30racist caucus now
  928. 33:32a clyburn who
  929. 33:35james clyburn
  930. 33:36who made
  931. 33:39single-handedly almost uh biden the
  932. 33:42nominee
  933. 33:43is a farrakhan lover
  934. 33:45the most notorious racist anti-semite
  935. 33:49semite
  936. 33:50anti-gay bigot in the country louis
  937. 33:53farrakhan who
  938. 33:54from tehran has chanted death to america
  939. 33:59uh clyburn is an admirer of his
  940. 34:02um so over the next 50 years that left
  941. 34:06infiltrated the democrat party and they
  942. 34:08were helped by their control of the
  943. 34:10universities which has been now 30
  944. 34:1430 years and turning it into a marxist
  945. 34:17training camp
  946. 34:18our premier universities harvard yale et
  947. 34:21cetera princeton whatever
  948. 34:23um
  949. 34:25they infiltrated the democrat party
  950. 34:28and changed it um and their success came
  951. 34:31with the election of barack obama who
  952. 34:34has the same background i do he was
  953. 34:36raised by communists
  954. 34:38he was actually mentored by a soviet
  955. 34:40agent
  956. 34:41um and the difference between us is that
  957. 34:43i saw that it was an evil movement
  958. 34:46and wanted to warn people
  959. 34:49of the dangers from it and
  960. 34:52barack obama never left the communists
  961. 34:54left they made his career i've
  962. 34:58written about this as well
  963. 35:00paul kanger has written about it uh
  964. 35:03stanley kurtz
  965. 35:04uh
  966. 35:05made the communist left made barack
  967. 35:08obama's career and he didn't come out
  968. 35:10with the baloney
  969. 35:12uh you know that if she's neither left
  970. 35:15the right and we're all americans and
  971. 35:17all that
  972. 35:19baloney
  973. 35:21until he became a national figure and
  974. 35:23that's when he distanced himself
  975. 35:26to save his skin from
  976. 35:28jeremiah wright are raving
  977. 35:31anti-american communists so there's
  978. 35:34really no mystery about what's happened
  979. 35:36to the democrat party and the left is
  980. 35:38very intimidating they've got 61 percent
  981. 35:41of democrats believing that all
  982. 35:43republicans are racists
  983. 35:45that's
  984. 35:46and as i say republicans are firing back
  985. 35:49by calling them liberals or saying
  986. 35:51they're playing with politics they're
  987. 35:53not playing people so david one of the
  988. 35:56things that has been pursued obviously
  989. 35:57by the left is that they do think in
  990. 35:59institutional terms the right has a real
  991. 36:01problem thinking in institutional terms
  992. 36:03probably because for conservatives
  993. 36:05politics is really about treating
  994. 36:06individuals as individuals all of our
  995. 36:08all of our political views are rooted in
  996. 36:10the idea that you're supposed to treat
  997. 36:11individuals individually with with as
  998. 36:13human beings endowed with particular
  999. 36:14rights the left however is very focused
1000. 36:17on taking over institutions and then
1001. 36:18shaping human beings from the top down
  1002. 36:21uh
  1003. 36:22how does treating everybody as a as a
  1004. 36:25collectivity
1005. 36:27just the way communists and nazis do
1006. 36:30your group identity is more important
1007. 36:33than who you actually are as an
  1008. 36:35individual
1009. 36:36this is the most destructive
  1010. 36:39ideology you can imagine
  1011. 36:42and that's what they're about you know
1012. 36:44joe biden one of the first things he
1013. 36:46said and that this is the theme of his
  1014. 36:47administration
  1015. 36:50he said
  1016. 36:51that
  1017. 36:52uh systemic racism
1018. 36:56touches every aspect of american life
  1019. 36:59that is a monstrous
  1020. 37:01lie
  1021. 37:02worthy of xi jinping
1022. 37:05or of the iranian mullahs or putin
  1023. 37:07himself
1024. 37:10there is no syst the only systemic
1025. 37:12racism in america is affirmative action
1026. 37:15and to get that through they they had to
1027. 37:18get a pass from the supreme court
  1028. 37:20as a special case
1029. 37:22because systemic racism was outlawed in
  1030. 37:261964
1031. 37:27by then by the civil rights act
  1032. 37:30it's illegal
1033. 37:32if there were actually systemic racism
1034. 37:34and police departments across the
  1035. 37:36country
1036. 37:38there would be a tsunami of lawsuits
  1037. 37:40wouldn't there
1038. 37:42first they'd have to fire all those
  1039. 37:44black police chiefs
1040. 37:46to have a semblance of reality but there
1041. 37:49would be these lawsuits that would be
1042. 37:51open and shut if there was systemic
1043. 37:53racism there is there are no such
1044. 37:55lawsuits because there is no systemic
1045. 37:58racism throughout the rest of america
  1046. 38:01it's a it's an invention of a fascist
  1047. 38:05party
1048. 38:06to destroy its opposition and establish
  1049. 38:09a one-party state
1050. 38:11that's what the democrats are about
1051. 38:14that's the theme of my book the enemy
  1052. 38:16within how a totalitarian movement is
  1053. 38:19destroying america
1054. 38:20how do you think that the right fights
1055. 38:22back against this because again it's not
  1056. 38:23just from government uh it's it's in
  1057. 38:26academia it's in the corporations i mean
1058. 38:27i think that the right thought for
1059. 38:29decades that the corporate world was
1060. 38:30going to be free market oriented and it
1061. 38:32turns out that now the corporate world
1062. 38:34is indoctrinating its own employees in
1063. 38:36the same sort of critical race theory
  1064. 38:37that the universities were
1065. 38:38indoctrinating their students with in
  1066. 38:40the late 1980s early 1990s
1067. 38:43yeah because people respond to
  1068. 38:45demonization and pressure
1069. 38:47they they head for the tall grass
1070. 38:50ceos of corporations don't want to lose
  1071. 38:52customers they're not brave people it's
1072. 38:55an extortion racket when i came into the
  1073. 38:58right
1074. 38:5940 years ago the first thing i said what
1075. 39:02looked around and said was where's the
  1076. 39:04ground army
1077. 39:06my ex-comrades on the left have hundreds
1078. 39:10if not thousands of organizations whose
  1079. 39:13business
  1080. 39:14is threatening politicians and
  1081. 39:16corporations
  1082. 39:18uh intimidating them uh
  1083. 39:21you know
1084. 39:22jackson and sharpton made careers out of
1085. 39:25racial extortion you go to a beer
1086. 39:27company and say give us 10 million
  1087. 39:30dollars
1088. 39:31or we're going to call you racist and
  1089. 39:33boycott you
  1090. 39:34uh and
1091. 39:35that was told to me by a witness of that
  1092. 39:38happening bob beckel
1093. 39:39uh not that he will say it publicly
1094. 39:42where are the where are the conservative
  1095. 39:45organizations grassroots well donald
1096. 39:48trump has given the conservative
1097. 39:49movement and the country a great gift
1098. 39:52because he has created the first
  1099. 39:55mass conservative movement
  1100. 39:57in our history
  1101. 40:00it's
1102. 40:01clearly numbered in the millions but
1103. 40:03just if you just think of the hundreds
1104. 40:04of thousands of people who turned out
  1105. 40:06for his campaign rallies
  1106. 40:08that's
1107. 40:10that that's the basic army that can
  1108. 40:13uh
1109. 40:14save our country they get
1110. 40:17conservatives need to get in the face of
  1111. 40:20these teachers
1112. 40:22look what the teacher unions have done
  1113. 40:25they they've damaged the lives of
  1114. 40:27millions
  1115. 40:28of k-12 kids
  1116. 40:30because they don't want they don't want
1117. 40:32to teach they just want to collect their
1118. 40:34paychecks you've got to go in the face
1119. 40:36of the teachers of the principles of the
  1120. 40:39school boards
  1121. 40:40why isn't there a sit-in
1122. 40:43at twitter headquarters or facebook
1123. 40:46making their lives miserable and
  1124. 40:48exposing to them
1125. 40:50the press will flock to it and you can
1126. 40:53tell the whole country what censors they
1127. 40:56are and what fascists they are basically
1128. 40:59uh and with hypocrites as we know they
  1129. 41:01let
1130. 41:02iranian mullahs preach the death of
  1131. 41:04america on their sites
1132. 41:07while banning the president of the
  1133. 41:09united states i mean
1134. 41:11what greater act of censorship is there
1135. 41:14than to de-platform the president of the
1136. 41:17united states which they've done so what
1137. 41:20conservatives have to do is they have to
  1138. 41:22start being more aggressive
1139. 41:25calling things by their right names use
  1140. 41:28words like fascist when it's fascistic
  1141. 41:31it's fascist it's racist
  1142. 41:35to demonize your opponents
1143. 41:37with no evidence whatsoever to call
1144. 41:40republica what happened on january 6 an
  1145. 41:43armed insurrection
1146. 41:45is the way fascists deploy politics
  1147. 41:48not
  1148. 41:50you know americans not
  1149. 41:53small d democrats
  1150. 41:55they don't do that they're polite that's
1151. 41:58what the collegiality is about used to
1152. 42:00be in the congress bipartisanship
1153. 42:03how could you be bipartisan with it with
1154. 42:06a party that you're calling enemies of
  1155. 42:08the state
  1156. 42:09you can't
1157. 42:10but no you know and it's true that the
1158. 42:12media is a bunch of liars they all what
1159. 42:16happened to the media is that in the old
  1160. 42:18days
1161. 42:19uh reporters actually never went to
  1162. 42:21college
1163. 42:23they went out on the streets and they
1164. 42:25reported what they saw but these
1165. 42:27journalism schools have been corrupt for
  1166. 42:2930 years
  1167. 42:31you know i i had lunch with the
1168. 42:34chairman of the journalism department as
1169. 42:37a decent left up center
1170. 42:40a left or center person
  1171. 42:42um and i asked him i said michael d
1172. 42:46do you have any conservatives on your
  1173. 42:48journalism faculty he said i can't think
  1174. 42:51of one i said do you think that's a good
1175. 42:53idea for training journalists or for
1176. 42:55education in the first place not to to
1177. 42:59have purged all conservatives he said no
1178. 43:01i don't i said what can you do about it
1179. 43:04he said nothing because the professors
  1180. 43:06hire themselves
  1181. 43:08and that's been going on for 30 years i
1182. 43:10can tell you the columbia school of
1183. 43:12journalism is the same way nyu it's the
  1184. 43:15same way
1185. 43:16all these elite institutions are
1186. 43:18one-party states the unit you know this
1187. 43:20better than anyone been what one party
  1188. 43:23states the universities are if a
1189. 43:25conservative appears on campus it gets
1190. 43:28boycotted by professors and the left
1191. 43:30comes into his event and turns it into a
  1192. 43:33circus and the administrators think it's
  1193. 43:36funny
  1194. 43:37so david let's talk a little bit about
1195. 43:39you know how you got to be david hortz
1196. 43:40obviously now you're sort of the the one
1197. 43:43of the grandfathers of the modern
1198. 43:44conservative movement um but again you
1199. 43:46started off in sort of a communist
1200. 43:48family what was it like growing up a
  1201. 43:49communist
  1202. 43:50well i
  1203. 43:52looking you know i've had a pretty
  1204. 43:54successful life so i i can't complain
1205. 43:58uh my parents were very decent people i
  1206. 44:01mean i don't think my mother ever got a
  1207. 44:02traffic ticket
  1208. 44:04but of course they hid a
  1209. 44:07an east german communist
1210. 44:09in the basement whom the
1211. 44:11country was trying to deport to port
1212. 44:15so that they were part of a
  1213. 44:16conspiratorial movement and everything
  1214. 44:18everyone we knew
1215. 44:20um and trusted was a communist as well
  1216. 44:24um
1217. 44:26it you know it gave me a passion for
  1218. 44:29social justice and then i had a rude
  1219. 44:32awakening when i was
  1220. 44:34editing that
1221. 44:36ramparts magazine the largest magazine
  1222. 44:38of the new left
  1223. 44:40and the panthers murdered
1224. 44:42they not only murdered this
  1225. 44:44mother of three children
  1226. 44:46um
  1227. 44:48and threatened me
  1228. 44:50but all my friends
1229. 44:52said you know i would say i to my close
  1230. 44:55friends i think the panthers murdered
  1231. 44:58betty
1232. 44:59and they would say the white power
  1233. 45:01structure did it
1234. 45:03which is the way leftists think they
  1235. 45:05think in terms of
1236. 45:06anything that takes away individual
  1237. 45:08responsibilities structures
  1238. 45:11races classes
  1239. 45:14um
1240. 45:15and i got an appreciation it occurred to
  1241. 45:18me
1242. 45:19i went into a serious personal crisis
1243. 45:22i was i think clinically depressed for
  1244. 45:25seven years after that
1245. 45:27but in that crisis i try to rethink
1246. 45:31everything uh including my attitude
1247. 45:34towards america and what i saw was for
1248. 45:36example that that in america you had a
  1249. 45:40figure say like j edgar hoover
  1250. 45:43who
1251. 45:44was an american hero i mean you know
  1252. 45:47he was an icon
1253. 45:49and then there were revelations about
1254. 45:52him um his corruptions and so forth
1255. 45:56and now nobody thinks of j edgar hoover
1256. 45:58as an icon anymore so i saw that
1257. 46:01you know you can't prevent oil and
1258. 46:02justice the world is an unjust place
1259. 46:07but you can remedy some of the
1260. 46:10injustices within the american system
1261. 46:13the left still thinks that the rosenberg
  1262. 46:15spies
1263. 46:17were innocent they never they never
1264. 46:19reevaluate the left never looks back
1265. 46:22and takes responsibility or the two and
1266. 46:25a half million peasants they cause to be
  1267. 46:27slaughtered in
1268. 46:28in no china you'll have leaders of the
  1269. 46:31democratic party boast about
1270. 46:33being on the periphery of the so-called
1271. 46:36anti-war movement to this day
1272. 46:38so the left never gets to look at what
1273. 46:40it does and i you know the
1274. 46:43what's happened in the way is the time
1275. 46:46the time frame has collapsed
1276. 46:48so the left now the democrats they don't
1277. 46:50see what they did yesterday
1278. 46:53like accusing the republicans of treason
  1279. 46:55for questioning election
1280. 46:58when in the previous election
1281. 47:01raskin who led the impeachment
  1282. 47:03of trump
1283. 47:05he was in the well of the house
1284. 47:08protesting the certification of the
  1285. 47:10electors
  1286. 47:11in the trump election
  1287. 47:13they don't seem to remember what
  1288. 47:14happened yesterday let alone 20 years
  1289. 47:17ago
1290. 47:17david how did your parents become
  1291. 47:19communists because
1292. 47:20your story really isn't just you moving
  1293. 47:22from communist to non-communist it's
  1294. 47:24it's almost a generational story of
  1295. 47:26of sorts i've written it i i wrote a
1296. 47:29book called radical son which tells this
  1297. 47:31whole story but my
  1298. 47:32my father was a very weak
  1299. 47:35person
1300. 47:36and being a communist gave him strength
1301. 47:39and you can see that with a lot of
  1302. 47:41airheads
1303. 47:42on the left these days
  1304. 47:44they
  1305. 47:45you know
  1306. 47:46without the ideology uh
1307. 47:49okay uh ocasio-cortez what would she be
  1308. 47:53i mean she'd be a bartender
1309. 47:55she's an airhead uh and they're all so
  1310. 47:58shallow
1311. 47:59in the radical caucus in the
  1312. 48:02democratic house
  1313. 48:04um so the the
  1314. 48:07joining this
  1315. 48:08and it's an international
  1316. 48:11um movement
1317. 48:13uh all over the world there are
1318. 48:15totalitarians posing as communists or
  1319. 48:18fascists or
  1320. 48:20islamic nazis
1321. 48:24and they get a lot of power by doing it
  1322. 48:26they think they're changing you hear
1323. 48:28them say all the time they're on the
  1324. 48:30right side of history history doesn't
1325. 48:32have a side you know uh the 20th century
1326. 48:36is probably one of the worst centuries
  1327. 48:38on record
1328. 48:39in terms of human atrocities
  1329. 48:42it's not like there's a a progression
  1330. 48:45they love this phrase
1331. 48:47that the arc of the
1332. 48:49universe has been towards justice no
1333. 48:51it's not it's not been in any way that
1334. 48:54human beings can relate to
  1335. 48:56it just it is
1336. 48:58um so they get pumped up i call it they
1337. 49:01get intoxicated you know and it's all in
  1338. 49:03genesis
1339. 49:04we think adam and eve
  1340. 49:07uh
1341. 49:08were given paradise it was better than
1342. 49:11the green new deal you didn't die you
1343. 49:13didn't have pain in childbirth you
1344. 49:14didn't have to work the fruit fell from
1345. 49:17the trees but there was one condition of
1346. 49:19staying there and that was you did not
  1347. 49:22do evil
1348. 49:23but eating of the tree of the knowledge
1349. 49:25of good and evil is exactly what
1350. 49:28adam and eve did and and who seduced
1351. 49:31them the devil and what did the devil
  1352. 49:32say
1353. 49:33if you eat of that tree you shall be as
  1354. 49:36gods
1355. 49:37and that's the way the left is
  1356. 49:39intoxicated it's intoxicated on its own
1357. 49:42sense of recreating the world
  1358. 49:45how
  1359. 49:46arrogant and stupid
  1360. 49:49is that
1361. 49:51the world has been the same human beings
1362. 49:53have acted the same way
  1363. 49:55for five thousand years you couldn't
1364. 49:58read the iliad or the bible for that
1365. 50:00matter and recognize the people in it if
  1366. 50:03if we had changed
  1367. 50:06you know i mean after
1368. 50:07in genesis the next story is about
1369. 50:10the first crime brother killing brother
1370. 50:13it's all there it hasn't changed and the
1371. 50:17effort to change the world is what has
1372. 50:19caused over a hundred million people to
  1373. 50:22be killed
  1374. 50:23by progressives
1375. 50:25in the last hundred years or so
  1376. 50:28um
1377. 50:30and and what did they produce for all
  1378. 50:32those deaths nothing
  1379. 50:34totalitarian regimes
  1380. 50:36massive gulags where
1381. 50:38dissenters were incarcerated and if you
  1382. 50:41don't think these democrats
  1383. 50:43are
  1384. 50:44ready to put
  1385. 50:46conservatives in re-education camps
1386. 50:49you've got another thing coming you
  1387. 50:51haven't been listening to what they've
1388. 50:52been saying so david you were there for
1389. 50:55for a lot of the sort of seminal moments
  1390. 50:56of the 1960s particularly from the
1391. 50:59perspective of the left you were you
1392. 51:00were at berkeley uh you were working at
1393. 51:03ramparts what was it like from the
1394. 51:05inside because everything has now been
1395. 51:06given this sort of sepia tone i mean
1396. 51:08just in the last year the oscars
1397. 51:09nominated two separate films trying to
  1398. 51:11recast the 1960s as a as a time of
1399. 51:13wonder and joy there was a full movie
1400. 51:15about the chicago seven louding the
  1401. 51:17chicago seven there's another movie
1402. 51:18about the black panther party louding
1403. 51:20the black panther party what was it
1404. 51:22actually like on the inside there there
  1405. 51:23were two
  1406. 51:25um
  1407. 51:2560s movements
1408. 51:27one was the hippie movement which was
1409. 51:30i you know was relatively benign except
  1410. 51:32for all the people
1411. 51:34who ended or ruined their lives on drugs
1412. 51:38but the attitude was great flower power
  1413. 51:41and all that
  1414. 51:43um
1415. 51:44then there was the political movement
1416. 51:46and there was a movement to rescue
1417. 51:48communism from the taint it had received
  1418. 51:52when the
1419. 51:53khrushchev revealed that stalin had
  1420. 51:55killed so many communists
1421. 51:58uh he left out the other victims but
1422. 52:01the socialism was in bad odor then
1423. 52:05and so the new left set out to
  1424. 52:07redeem
  1425. 52:08the socialist fantasy
  1426. 52:11but you can't redeem it
1427. 52:13if human beings set out to
1428. 52:16recreate the word if they think they can
1429. 52:18change the world look if you believed
1430. 52:20that you could end racism sexism
  1431. 52:22homophobia poverty war
1432. 52:26what lie would you not tell
1433. 52:28what crime would you not commit or
  1434. 52:30support
  1435. 52:31to achieve that
  1436. 52:33that's
1437. 52:34that that's why they are so immoral and
  1438. 52:38evil
  1439. 52:39because they have a justification for
1440. 52:41any crime you can imagine
  1441. 52:44and they
1442. 52:45you know that they give even you know uh
1443. 52:48just to bring it down to a
  1444. 52:50lurid level
1445. 52:52i mean how do you think that harvey
  1446. 52:53weinstein and
1447. 52:55jeffrey epstein function in liberal
  1448. 52:57circles
  1449. 52:58it's because they don't give a damn
  1450. 53:00about human beings
1451. 53:02they think they do it's all in their
  1452. 53:05heads
1453. 53:06why would you defund the police who are
1454. 53:08the only protection that inner city
  1455. 53:11minorities have
1456. 53:12why would you open the southern border
1457. 53:14and let in all the coronavirus
1458. 53:17the carriers and the criminals and the
1459. 53:19drug traffickers and the sex traffickers
1460. 53:22and the child abusers why would you do
  1461. 53:25that
1462. 53:27because you have this fantasy that
1463. 53:29uh the reason we have borders is because
1464. 53:31we're racists and we can create a new
1465. 53:34world if we end our racism
  1466. 53:37you know it's it's stupefying even to
1467. 53:41try to repeat what they think so david
1468. 53:43in just one second i want to ask what
1469. 53:45sort of blow back you received when you
1470. 53:46made the transition to the right two
  1471. 53:48things one is
1472. 53:49i lost every for every friend that i had
1473. 53:52in life from the time i was a kid
1474. 53:55every last one turned against me because
  1475. 53:58they don't have
  1476. 54:00human these human connections
1477. 54:02i just lost a friend of 70 years ron raj
1478. 54:06who who wants to sick the irs on me
  1479. 54:10why because i questioned the election
  1480. 54:12result
  1481. 54:1470-year friendship thrown out
  1482. 54:18over a political idea that's what
  1483. 54:21totalitarians do that's what they are
1484. 54:24the ideas are more important than the
  1485. 54:26human relationships
1486. 54:28uh the second thing is
  1487. 54:31uh
1488. 54:32what peter and i had peter collier and i
1489. 54:35we had run ramparts together and we
1490. 54:38transitioned out of the left together
  1491. 54:40and we wrote a cover story
1492. 54:43for where the washington post which
1493. 54:46at the time which they
  1494. 54:49titled
1495. 54:50was their sunday magazine lefties for
  1496. 54:52reagan
1497. 54:53our title was better run than red
  1498. 54:56and uh
1499. 54:58when that happened peter who was a
  1500. 55:00realist i was much more of a romantic
1501. 55:03peter said to me our literary careers
1502. 55:06are over we had been the toast of the
1503. 55:08town number one bestseller for seven
1504. 55:10weeks on the new york times list
  1505. 55:12wined and dined
1506. 55:14uh and attended by the media
  1507. 55:17um
1508. 55:18you know when we were attacked by the
1509. 55:20ken it was a book about the kennedys by
  1510. 55:22the kennedys
1511. 55:24the post considered us important enough
  1512. 55:26to assign woodward
  1513. 55:28uh to
1514. 55:30examine the story and give us a clean
  1515. 55:32bill of
1516. 55:33of health but peter turned to me when
  1517. 55:35our article
1518. 55:36lefties for reagan appeared and said our
  1519. 55:39literary careers are over
  1520. 55:41and i thought he was nuts
  1521. 55:44you know but
1522. 55:47there was a lot of truth in that
1523. 55:49uh i don't get reviewed in the new york
1524. 55:52times or the washington post i used to
  1525. 55:53be front page
1526. 55:55uh of the book sections don't get
  1527. 55:58reviewed i'm an unperson i get slandered
  1528. 56:01and i can't correct the slanders
  1529. 56:04um
1530. 56:06it just it all changed
  1531. 56:08uh
1532. 56:10i think things are getting better for
  1533. 56:12conservatives although the censorship
1534. 56:15team is out there in a big way
  1535. 56:18but
1536. 56:19conservatives have now created their own
1537. 56:21institutions when i came into the right
  1538. 56:24there were
1539. 56:25not that many certainly no combat
  1540. 56:27institutions
  1541. 56:29no you know
  1542. 56:31aggressive
  1543. 56:32conservative media institutions
1544. 56:35that's all changed uh conservatives are
1545. 56:37now in the culture and fighting in the
  1546. 56:40culture and that's great
1547. 56:41so david i was going to ask you a little
1548. 56:43bit earlier about you know whether there
1549. 56:45is any hope coming from sort of center
1550. 56:48and people who are who are actual
1551. 56:49liberals you know people who may
1552. 56:50disagree with you or with me on tax
1553. 56:52rates uh or may disagree on the role of
1554. 56:54government and health care but still are
1555. 56:56fundamentally committed to certain basic
  1556. 56:59individual liberty principles
1557. 57:00it seems like an open question to me so
1558. 57:02i wanted to get your take on it
  1559. 57:03they are collected on substack.com
  1560. 57:07but like
  1561. 57:08glenn greenwald just to
1562. 57:10you know tear into me and call me all
  1563. 57:12kinds of names
  1564. 57:14and i recently emailed him and said i
1565. 57:17have to say even though you said harsh
  1566. 57:19things about me
1567. 57:20i admire your courage uh and
  1568. 57:24determination to
1569. 57:25you know fight for our individual
  1570. 57:27liberties he's been a a warrior on that
  1571. 57:29front matt to eb
  1572. 57:32who i wrote a whole book ridiculing
  1573. 57:35trump
1574. 57:36uh has also been i mean he
1575. 57:38he wrote an article called the permanent
  1576. 57:40coup
1577. 57:41about what the democrats were doing to
1578. 57:43trump even though he doesn't think much
  1579. 57:45of trump
  1580. 57:46so those are two
1581. 57:49and you know jonathan turley has been
1582. 57:52pretty good on legal issues and alan
  1583. 57:56dershowitz
1584. 57:58you know both of them democrats
  1585. 58:01but they're
  1586. 58:03small voices in the
1587. 58:05you know or few voices because
1588. 58:08dershowitz has a big voice and so does
  1589. 58:10turley
  1590. 58:11but
  1591. 58:12there aren't a lot i mean it's very
  1592. 58:14disappointing i i think
  1593. 58:16that
