- 0:31So is Abby here?
- 0:33I don't know ABBY (ON PHONE): Gianna?
- 0:34Abby?
- 0:35One, two, three, Gia's girls.
- 0:38You're a fill-in.
- 0:39No, I'm here.
- 0:40I texted her, and she said you will be fired from this dance
- 0:43studio if you choreograph that dance.
- 0:45I don't care where the [bleep] she works.
- 0:47Whoa, oh, oh.
- 0:47[music playing]
- 0:48She has made it clear she doesn't care
- 0:50about our kids or her team.
- 0:52Brooke, there's nothing we can do.
- 0:54[sniffling]
- 0:55Don't cry.
- 0:56Come on.
- 0:57[music playing]
- 0:59[theme music playing]
- 1:01Get up, get on the floor.
- 1:05My world is with my girls.
- 1:08Living on the dance floor.
- 1:11[music playing]
- 1:18Hi, G. Oh, it's cold in here.
- 1:21Good morning.
- 1:22GIANNA: Good morning, guys. - Hi.
- 1:24Good morning.
- 1:25GIANNA: Hey, girl.
- 1:26Where's your friend?
- 1:28Not here yet.
- 1:29Ooh.
- 1:31Hi, Gia. GIANNA: Hi.
- 1:32Good morning.
- 1:33[music playing]
- 1:34Hello, Gia.
- 1:35GIANNA: Hi.
- 1:36I walk into the studio, and Gia's
- 1:37sitting at the front desk, and I just assume that Abby's
- 1:40at a headband sale somewhere. [music playing]
- 1:42- Yeah. - Where's Ab, I wonder.
- 1:43I don't know.
- 1:44I asked Gianna hey, you're here by yourself.
- 1:46She was, yeah, Abby's not here yet.
- 1:47Over the past three days Mrs. Miller has not been well.
- 1:51[music playing]
- 1:51Oh, you're kidding.
- 1:52Huh-uh.
- 1:54Abby's mom is very, very ill, and getting sicker and sicker
- 1:57by the day.
- 1:59But it's not like Abby not to show up,
- 2:01so I'm really concerned that something's really wrong.
- 2:04So is Abby here?
- 2:04I don't know.
- 2:05[music playing]
- 2:07Is she going to come and help with the rehearsal?
- 2:08Hey, Ab.
- 2:09It's Gia.
- 2:10And Rachel.
- 2:11Just wondering where you were.
- 2:12We have to order costumes for the group dance in 44 minutes,
- 2:16now, because they're coming from St. Louis,
- 2:18and there's a holiday tomorrow. So--
- 2:20[clock ticking] [music playing]
- 2:21--we don't know where you are, but we hope you're on the way.
- 2:24If Abby doesn't show up today, I don't
- 2:26know what I'm going to do.
- 2:27She has to pick costumes and assign solos I can't make
- 2:30those decisions without her.
- 2:32She doesn't have to tell us all of her personal details,
- 2:33but if she's not going to be here for pyramid,
- 2:35it's just professionalism, that's all.
- 2:37She has a business.
- 2:38And it's not being harsh or cruel, just--
- 2:41[music playing]
- 2:42I don't really know anything though,
- 2:43so I don't have anything to tell them.
- 2:44Right.
- 2:45And so there's no pyramid today.
- 2:46[music playing]
- 2:47Maybe you should start the group part,
- 2:48since you know there's a group.
- 2:49[girls chattering] - That's what I said.
- 2:51We need to cut it out. - There she is.
- 2:52GIANNA: Hi, guys. - Hi.
- 2:53Did you hear from Abby?
- 2:54OK.
- 2:55When you and Gia met.
- 2:56I'm just going to start the group.
- 2:57I have the group music.
- 2:58Oh.
- 2:59WOMAN: That's good.
- 3:00It's called "Just Be."
- 3:01It's pretty lyrical, it's not hard.
- 3:04And James is here to help me.
- 3:05WOMAN: Oh.
- 3:06So--
- 3:07WOMAN: Do you know where we're going this weekend?
- 3:09No.
- 3:10But wherever we're going, we have to have a group dance,
- 3:13so--
- 3:14So true. OK.
- 3:15- Come on. - All right.
- 3:16Work hard-- WOMAN: Work hard, girls.
- 3:17--girls, Be safe. Thank you, Gianna.
- 3:19[music playing]
- 3:20HOLLY: Still no Abby, but at least we have Gia and James,
- 3:22and they are Abby's best teachers.
- 3:24And we also have a group song, so I guess that's a start.
- 3:28You guys do realize Abby's not here.
- 3:30We don't know when she's coming.
- 3:32I brought James in special to help me today
- 3:33because Abby's least not here.
- 3:35Please pay attention.
- 3:36You guys give Abby that respect, so please give us that respect,
- 3:39OK? GIRLS: OK.
- 3:40Do we know the theme? We don't know the theme.
- 3:41The theme is called, "abandoned".
- 3:43Stop.
- 3:44What? It's true, we're abandoned.
- 3:46It's not called abandoned.
- 3:47It's all right.
- 3:48It's called, "I left you on the steps of a fire station
- 3:51in the little basket.
- 3:52You're abandoned."
- 3:54Abby always talks about loyalty and dedication to the team,
- 3:57and here are these kids working their butts off,
- 4:00and their teacher doesn't even have the decency to show up.
- 4:02[cymbals clinking]
- 4:04I think the kids are fine with no pyramid.
- 4:05However, I think they want to know who's doing what.
- 4:08Yeah, I agree with that.
- 4:09Who's doing a solo, where the heck are we going,
- 4:13who are we going to go up against, what what's going on?
- 4:16I mean, that's what we like pyramid most is--
- 4:18- Right. - --is to find out--
- 4:19--it's an information session.
- 4:21--what's happening.
- 4:22Gia said that she was working on the group dance, but what
- 4:24about the other dances?
- 4:25You think Abby will give Gia the authority
- 4:27to pass out solos and duets?
- 4:29I don't think Gianna would do anything on her own
- 4:31without checking with Abby. - No, I don't either.
- 4:33Maybe there aren't any, don't know.
- 4:35[music playing]
- 4:36WOMAN: OK, who do you think has solos?
- 4:38I think Payton's going to do a solo, too.
- 4:39I think it's going to be Payton and Maddie.
- 4:41- Oh, maybe it will be Payton. - I think Patton and Maddie.
- 4:42[music playing]
- 4:43We all want our kids to have solos.
- 4:44Maddie hasn't had a solo in weeks,
- 4:46Payton hasn't had a solo the entire time
- 4:48she's been on the team, Kristie Ray threatened
- 4:50to quit last week if Asia didn't get a solo.
- 4:52If Abby doesn't assign these solos
- 4:54I really hope that Gia can handle the wrath of the mother
- 4:57of whoever doesn't get one.
- 4:58I just want Asia to dance that's why I'm here I want her
- 5:01to dance that's why we're here.
- 5:02That's what we all want.
- 5:03I don't blame you Kristie, though.
- 5:05If you're not getting what you want you got to fly.
- 5:07So wait.
- 5:08You're saying that she should have a solo in the group
- 5:09every week?
- 5:10She's done two weeks in a row, ma-zing in of groups.
- 5:13She deserves a solo.
- 5:14Asia hadn't trained with us all summer,
- 5:16never came to camp-- - So.
- 5:18You went with Candy Apple.
- 5:19[music playing]
- 5:20I think out of all the girls, Asia is the last person that
- 5:23should have a solo this week.
- 5:24She's only had a million already,
- 5:27and Asia's not here all the time.
- 5:28Asia's going to work-- let me get let me get this straight
- 5:31to you. WOMAN: I'm not going to--
- 5:32Asia's going to work, and take jobs, and train whenever she
- 5:34can.
- 5:35So if you have a problem with that--
- 5:36I don't have a problem with that.
- 5:37Well, obviously you do.
- 5:39You just said, you weren't here, so you have a problem with it.
- 5:40If you're telling me that you--
- 5:42Did you not hear me say--
- 5:44I didn't hear you because you're--
- 5:45--I had a problem with where she was on the pyramid.
- 5:47[interposing voices] [music playing]
- 5:48I don't care where the [bleep] she works.
- 5:50Excuse me?
- 5:51Now did you hear me?
- 5:52Whoa, oh, oh.
- 5:54- Why did you say it? - Look at.
- 5:55Jill dropped the F bomb.
- 5:57You're screwed.
- 5:57In the head
- 5:59No, you're a hot mess, because now you're dropping F bombs.
- 6:01Well, OK, I think you're a hot mess.
- 6:03You only get mad when you're wrong.
- 6:06Nope.
- 6:07[music playing]
- 6:10GIANNA: The group routine this week is called "Just Be."
- 6:12I'm going to keep it very simple, very elegant.
- 6:15James is a very unique choreographer,
- 6:17and I'm so excited that he is helping me this week.
- 6:19And hopefully Abby will be appreciative, and not fire me
- 6:21for doing our own choreography.
- 6:23[music playing]
- 6:25Let me see it now, without Asia and Mackenzie.
- 6:27[telephone ringing]
- 6:29Who are you calling?
- 6:30I'm calling Kelly. [telephone ringing]
- 6:31- Why? - Because.
- 6:32[telephone ringing] I don't know you an explanation.
- 6:34No, you don't.
- 6:35But I think it's rude.
- 6:36Kelly? KELLY (ON PHONE): Hello?
- 6:38Hi. CHRISTI: Hi, Kel.
- 6:39KELLY (ON PHONE): Hi.
- 6:40I'm just calling to let you know that Abby is not here.
- 6:45I don't know where she is but anyhow,
- 6:47the girls are learning a group dance
- 6:49and since you made your statement that you're back
- 6:51on the team--
- 6:53LESLIE (ON TV): Like Rosa Parks, I'm not moving.
- 6:55KELLY (ON TV): I'm either sitting there, or I'll go home
- 6:57LESLIE (ON TV): Bye.
- 6:58[music playing]
- 7:00CHRISTI: I don't know if you have plans for your girls
- 7:02to dance this week, but if you do
- 7:04or if you want them to learn the dance,
- 7:05I would suggest that you--
- 7:07WOMAN: Come on down. - --get here.
- 7:08[music playing] KELLY (ON PHONE): OK.
- 7:09CHRISTI: All right. KELLY (ON PHONE): All right.
- 7:10CHRISTI: I'll talk to you later.
- 7:11Kelly can come back right now because Abby's not here
- 7:13so she's not facing that big fight at the front door
- 7:16and her girls can come and dance,
- 7:18which is all Kelly really wanted in the first place.
- 7:20Christi, what makes you think you have the right
- 7:22to invite Kelly and the kids back here, when Abby is just--
- 7:25- I-- - -- away for the moment?
- 7:26I didn't invite her.
- 7:27I was telling her what was going on as far as I'm concerned,
- 7:29those kids were still on the pyramid,
- 7:31they're still part of this team.
- 7:32I'm giving her the information.
- 7:34What she does with it is up to her.
- 7:35But your name is not Abby. CHRISTI: I didn't say it was.
- 7:37She did not allow them back on the--
- 7:39CHRISTI: [inaudible].
- 7:40--you're really crossing the line, here.
- 7:41Does anybody think I'm crossing the line?
- 7:43Uh, no, I don't, but Abby might.
- 7:45[music playing]
- 7:46I don't think Kelly should come in here, because I think
- 7:47Abby would freak.
- 7:48MELISSA: I understand why Kristie thinks
- 7:49now is a good time for Kelly to bring her girls back
- 7:51onto the team.
- 7:53I mean, she knows how upset Abby would be if she brought back
- 7:55her kids without permission.
- 7:57[music playing]
- 7:58If Gia and James don't want them in there,
- 8:00they're going to tell him to leave, so--
- 8:02Gia knows better to--
- 8:03I don't think Abby's expecting it to happen, so--
- 8:04--to do that.
- 8:05--I'm sure she didn't cover this with Gia.
- 8:06Gia's not going to know what to do.
- 8:08[music playing] - She might not even come.
- 8:09Right.
- 8:10We may be worrying about nothing.
- 8:12[music playing]
- 8:13KELLY: I always come back to this studio
- 8:14because my girls miss their family.
- 8:16These girls are like sisters.
- 8:18They have been together since they were three years old.
- 8:21And as much as Abby doesn't like it, we are part of this team.
- 8:25I'm just really not looking forward
- 8:27to talking to that woman.
- 8:28[music playing]
- 8:31Excuse me.
- 8:32My kids are here to learn the group dance.
- 8:34GIANNA: OK.
- 8:35I'm already stressed out enough with Abby not showing up,
- 8:37and now Kelly walks in the door.
- 8:39If I stop Kelly from entering, it'll
- 8:40be a huge blow out with the moms,
- 8:42and I don't have time for that.
- 8:43[music playing]
- 8:44WOMAN: Ah!
- 8:45Ah! [clapping]
- 8:46[music playing]
- 8:47GIRL: Boom!
- 8:48[music playing]
- 8:50KELLY: Well, hello.
- 8:51WOMAN: [interposing voices]
- 8:53- Ah. - New carpet.
- 8:54Where you sitting?
- 8:55WOMAN: - Doesn't smell good, but I'm getting by--
- 8:56What are you moving over for? My seat's over here.
- 8:57I'm not moving.
- 8:58LESLIE: Payton has earned her spot on this team.
- 9:00[music playing]
- 9:01Being on the elite competition team
- 9:03is a great opportunity for any dancer,
- 9:05and Kelly is not going to take that away from my daughter.
- 9:08[music playing]
- 9:09I just want Payton to feel welcomed here,
- 9:13and not feel awkward and uncomfortable.
- 9:15And I have not done anything to make
- 9:16Payton feel uncomfortable.
- 9:18You just showing up makes her feel uncomfortable.
- 9:19- Well, that's not my problem. - Do you blame her, though?
- 9:21KELLY: No.
- 9:22Every time you did show up, she
- 9:23was kicked back off the team. - It's Abby's decision.
- 9:24[music playing]
- 9:26KELLY: I don't pick who gets to be on the team.
- 9:27But it's not going to change.
- 9:28So she should be upset with Abby--
- 9:29LESLIE: It's not going to change--
- 9:30--not me.
- 9:31LESLIE: --again, so you're going to walk back in here.
- 9:32But that's not my fault. [music playing]
- 9:33I think Leslie is just very desperate
- 9:35to be part of this team.
- 9:36But Abby continues to tell her, you're not part of the team,
- 9:40you're filling in. [music playing]
- 9:42When Abby comes in yelling, this is between you two.
- 9:44[music playing]
- 9:45She keeps saying it's my fault.
- 9:46[laughs] [music playing]
- 9:47I think it's your fault. I think--
- 9:48Precisely.
- 9:49--you guys are starting trouble and it's unnecessary.
- 9:50[music playing]
- 9:51I told Abby I was coming back to the team,
- 9:52at the competition.
- 9:53LESLIE: But she's not here.
- 9:54I don't care.
- 9:55LESLIE: But If she is here--
- 9:57KELLY: When she is here, I will still be sitting here.
- 9:58If she was here she would probably have you removed.
- 10:00[music playing]
- 10:01She can try.
- 10:02[music playing]
- 10:08HOLLY: Hello..
- 10:08GIANNA
- 10:09GIANNA: Good morning.
- 10:10HOLLY: You're by yourself again?
- 10:11[music playing]
- 10:13[telephone ringing]
- 10:14ABBY (ON TELEPHONE): Gianna?
- 10:15Abby.
- 10:16ABBY (ON TELEPHONE): Goodbye.
- 10:18[telephone beeping]
- 10:18[music playing]
- 10:20Guys, she's not coming.
- 10:22I guess that answers my question.
- 10:23I just going to ask you, is she here?
- 10:25Now, the first day of not having Abby present was pretty good.
- 10:29It's like having a substitute teacher,
- 10:31you're really happy about that.
- 10:33Day two, I'm not too sure.
- 10:35She needs to come home, she needs to do her job.
- 10:37[music playing]
- 10:38GIRLS: Hello.
- 10:39Hi.
- 10:40Kids, you want to come in and start stretching?
- 10:42GIRLS: Yes.
- 10:43Moms, why don't you guys come in too
- 10:44so I can tell you a little bit about this weekend.
- 10:46[music playing]
- 10:47After Abby hung up on me, I got a text from her
- 10:49about this week's competition.
- 10:51I guess whatever Abby is going through this week she doesn't
- 10:53want to talk.
- 10:54As you guys know, Abby's still not here.
- 10:56I don't know if she's coming.
- 10:57I don't know if she's coming back today.
- 10:58[cymbals clinking]
- 11:00I really don't think it's fair what Abby's doing to Gianna.
- 11:02She left her high and dry.
- 11:03Gianna is just stepping in and making sure that these kids are
- 11:06getting what they need this week because Abby doesn't care
- 11:08to do it.
- 11:09I tried to call her, she hung up on me.
- 11:11Did Abby give you any instructions about this week,
- 11:14at all?
- 11:15We're going to Believe Talent Competition, in San dusky,
- 11:17Ohio.
- 11:17[applause]
- 11:19It's a fun one.
- 11:20It's a good one.
- 11:22[music playing]
- 11:23As far as I know, all nine of you
- 11:24are going to be in the group dance this week.
- 11:26JILL: Nine kids.
- 11:28That's a lot, so Gianna has her work cut out for her.
- 11:31[music playing]
- 11:33Asia, you're having a solo this week.
- 11:35[music playing]
- 11:36[applause]
- 11:39It's a jazz routine, called "Lightning."
- 11:41Asia has a solo, and she should.
- 11:43She has not lost once in the solo category.
- 11:45[music playing]
- 11:45And the second solo is Maddie.
- 11:48[applause]
- 11:49Those are all the routines that Abby gave me.
- 11:52Because there's only three numbers,
- 11:54and we usually have four, is there
- 11:55any way I could have a solo?
- 11:57[music playing]
- 11:57Have you asked Abby?
- 11:58[music playing]
- 12:00Gianna announces that there's only three dances,
- 12:02and normally we take four, and Abby's not here,
- 12:05so I just feel like this is a perfect opportunity for Brooke
- 12:08to ask for a solo.
- 12:09We can maybe work something out,
- 12:11but I can't do anything without talking to her first.
- 12:15You know what?
- 12:16If Abby comes back and she takes it away from her,
- 12:18I'm fine with that.
- 12:19But at least Brooke tried.
- 12:21[music playing]
- 12:21The night hides changes,
- 12:25Rearranges--
- 12:28GIANNA: Asia, your feet.
- 12:29I want this to--
- 12:31You know, I can't really say I'm all that sad Abby's not
- 12:34here.
- 12:35Saying that you miss Abby when she's not here
- 12:37is like saying you miss a hemorrhoid.
- 12:39Do you really?
- 12:40I'm sad for her mom--
- 12:41Very much.
- 12:42--but But I'm disappointed that Abby doesn't call us.
- 12:44We dont know.
- 12:45Well, she did the same thing with Broadway Baby.
- 12:47I know, but did she hang up on Gia, really?
- 12:48- Yeah, she did. - Well, she told us she did.
- 12:50[interposing voices] - Leslie was there with me.
- 12:51I think she's always been there for Gia,
- 12:53so she's really going through a lot with her mother for her
- 12:56not to even take Gia's phone calls.
- 12:57All we want is a phone call.
- 12:59Where are you?
- 13:00Are you coming back?
- 13:01But nothing.
- 13:02No word.
- 13:030 from Abby.
- 13:04I was there when Abby was on the phone with Gianna,
- 13:06and just as easily as she could have said,
- 13:08Hello, make sure you run the group dance, I can't make it,
- 13:11instead she hung up.
- 13:13That's not professional and it's not responsible.
- 13:15Give her a brief explanation.
- 13:17Something's come up, I can't make it take care of the group
- 13:19dance and the two solos.
- 13:21No, three solos.
- 13:21[music playing]
- 13:22Three solos?
- 13:23Oh.
- 13:24How about you? [crickets chirping]
- 13:25That's a surprise.
- 13:26- How about you? - That's right.
- 13:28I would've been the same way-- [interposing voices]
- 13:28Yeah.
- 13:29Kelly, can I just say, I would take baby steps if I were you.
- 13:31Yeah, I know.
- 13:32You're pretty gutsy.
- 13:33Any one of those kids could've asked for a solo,
- 13:35they just didn't raise their hand.
- 13:36[laughing]
- 13:37OK, it has to look like that on stage,
- 13:39please, please, please, please, please, please.
- 13:40This is the first time we're going to a competition
- 13:42without Abby, and it's a really big deal.
- 13:44It's going to be tough, but I think we can do it.
- 13:46[music playing]
- 13:47GIRLS: One, two, three, Gia's girls!
- 13:49GIANNA: OK, you're done.
- 13:51[clapping]
- 13:51GIRLS: Thank you.
- 13:52[cymbals sliding]
- 13:54Is Abby with her mother?
- 13:55I don't know.
- 13:57Well, you are the only one who speaks to her.
- 13:59Why don't you find out?
- 14:00Obviously, Abby is with her mother.
- 14:02I'll call her.
- 14:03LESLIE: It would probably be better if Melissa called her.
- 14:04CHRISTI: You're going to call Abby?
- 14:05Abby is probably in L.A. scouting a new studio to get
- 14:08away from these crazy moms.
- 14:09I'd like to be a fly on the wall
- 14:10when she looks down and sees your name on her caller ID.
- 14:13I have a sneaky suspicion that Abby
- 14:16is off with that creepy werewolf guy that she has been seeing.
- 14:18[music playing] [telephone ringing]
- 14:20WOMAN (ON PHONE): At the tone, please record your message.
- 14:22[beeping]
- 14:23Hi, Abby it's Kelly.
- 14:25I just wanted to let you know that we had asked Gianna
- 14:28if Brooke was able to do a solo, and she
- 14:30said we had to get approval from you first.
- 14:32So if you could give Gianna a call
- 14:34and let her know if she's allowed or not,
- 14:36I would appreciate it.
- 14:37Thanks, bye.
- 14:39HOLLY: The only thing, I wish I could see Abby's face when she
- 14:41gets that message.
- 14:43You know what you guys, I am not going to let her scare me.
- 14:45She doesn't scare me.
- 14:47I can handle whatever Abby wants to do with me, I don't care.
- 14:49GIANNA: Hey, girl.
- 14:51Ready?
- 14:52When I talked to Abby last, she was talking
- 14:53about your emotions, and she said every week
- 14:55she sees the same face.
- 14:57So she gave me this piece of music that is so powerful,
- 15:00we need to pull more out.
- 15:02More emotion.
- 15:03I need more connection with the audience, not
- 15:04the same old face.
- 15:05OK?
- 15:06[drumming]
- 15:08Maddie is performing a lyrical or routine this week
- 15:09to "Holding On." [music playing]
- 15:10It's a very emotional piece. [music playing]
- 15:12I know that Abby says she hasn't been connecting
- 15:14with the audience recently, so I'm making sure
- 15:16that this is extra emotional, that she can give something
- 15:19more than just a typical Maddie solo.
- 15:21More. Because--
- 15:22Good.
- 15:22--I need you.
- 15:25So you guys know that my kids are involved in the Starlight
- 15:27Foundation-- - Uh-huh.
- 15:28--and this little girl--
- 15:30I was going to invite her to come watch because she said
- 15:33that our kids inspire her.
- 15:35[music playing]
- 15:36[phone ringing]
- 15:37[music playing] LORI (ON PHONE): Hello?
- 15:38[music playing]
- 15:39Hi Laurie it's Melissa.
- 15:40Hello
- 15:41LORI (ON PHONE): Hello, everyone.
- 15:42- Hello. - Hi.
- 15:43So we wanted to see if you and your daughter
- 15:46can come to the studio tomorrow, and come
- 15:49to the competition on Saturday?
- 15:50LORI (ON PHONE): Yes, that is just--
- 15:52Hannah is really excited.
- 15:54Oh, that's so great.
- 15:55WOMAN: Great.
- 15:56Awesome.
- 15:57Maddie can dance for Hannah and get connected again.
- 16:00She's going to be an inspiration for Maddie.
- 16:02[music playing] - So we'll see you tomorrow.
- 16:04LORI (ON PHONE): OK. Sounds great.
- 16:05Sounds great. - OK.
- 16:06LORI (ON PHONE): Thank you. Bye, bye.
- 16:06[music playing]
- 16:07GIANNA: Well, don't have to see anything else,
- 16:09you're good for today. Good.
- 16:10Really good. HANNAH: Thank you.
- 16:12Does anybody follow Abby on Instagram?
- 16:14[sneezing]
- 16:15Abby just put a picture of herself up on Instagram.
- 16:17Oh, so that's really recent.
- 16:18[drum beating]
- 16:19But I love how she's not with her mom.
- 16:21Maybe she's at a meet-and-greet.
- 16:23True. True.
- 16:24I thought it was her mom.
- 16:25It looks like-- - Yeah, it's not her mom.
- 16:27--she's somewhere fun.
- 16:28Abby's all about making money.
- 16:29If some competition dangles cash in front of her
- 16:32to go judge a competition, she'll be there.
- 16:34[music playing]
- 16:37MELISSA: Hey, girls, I'm going to go downstairs real quick.
- 16:39I'm going to go talk to Gianna about these costumes
- 16:41and I'm going to see if I can go get some appliques.
- 16:43- Oh, OK, good. - I'll be right back.
- 16:44WOMAN: OK. Thanks.
- 16:45HOLLY: Thank you.
- 16:46[music playing]
- 16:49Hi, G.
- 16:51Hi.
- 16:52Has Kelly said anything upstairs about Brooke's solo?
- 16:55Yeah.
- 16:55I mean, I don't know what to do.
- 16:57I feel so bad.
- 16:58Well, I-- you know I asked Abby.
- 17:01Oh, you did?
- 17:02I texted her, and she said that you
- 17:03will be fired from this dance studio
- 17:05if you choreograph that dance.
- 17:07Oh, honey.
- 17:08I just-- it's just putting you in a really bad situation.
- 17:10[music playing] - I know.
- 17:11I know. [sniffling]
- 17:12[music playing]
- 17:13It's OK, OK? It's OK.
- 17:14I'll call--
- 17:16MELISSA: Abby said if Gianna and teaches Brooke a solo,
- 17:18she's going to fire her.
- 17:19I don't know what to do.
- 17:20It's really tough saying Gianna cry because she's the rock,
- 17:24and it's just really hard on me.
- 17:25[music playing]
- 17:26We'll get this worked out, OK?
- 17:28We need you here.
- 17:29Gia, we need you.
- 17:30[music playing]
- 17:31[sniffles]
- 17:36I did talk to Abby last night, and she diusic playing]
- 17:38I did talk to Abby last night, and she didn't say much about
- 17:41whether you're dancing, whether you're not dancing.
- 17:43[music playing]
- 17:44So, let's have something prepared,
- 17:46but if she really doesn't want you to dance,
- 17:48then she'll scratch it.
- 17:49I actually think it's great that Gia is choreographing
- 17:51a solo for Brooke--
- 17:52It's great that she picks up and leaves this team
- 17:54constantly, , and it's great that she walks back in here
- 17:57when Abby does not want her back and her daughter gets a solo.
- 18:00That's great.
- 18:00[drum beating]
- 18:02How does somebody that gets thrown off the team,
- 18:05leaves time and time again, and walks back in here,
- 18:08and is told that Gia will lose her job if this child has
- 18:11a solo, how does she still get a solo?
- 18:13It's not fair.
- 18:15This problem is between Abby and I,
- 18:17and my kids have been here since they were three years old,
- 18:20so we're not going anywhere.
- 18:22You're disappointed Brooke as a solo,
- 18:24we're all happy Brooke-- - I'm disappointed--
- 18:25- --has a solo. - -- that--
- 18:26So who is the bad guy, Leslie?
- 18:27I'm disappointed that you can break rules,
- 18:29you don't have to follow anybody's authority
- 18:31around here, and you still get to come out on top.
- 18:34CHRISTI: Wait a minute. - Because you know what?
- 18:35The only person Breaking a rule this week
- 18:37is Abby, because she's not here.
- 18:38I will not leave this team on my own.
- 18:40The only way I'll leave this team is if Abby kicks me off.
- 18:43You're not running me out like you done every other woman that
- 18:47has sat up here with her child to try
- 18:48to get the same opportunities as you have.
- 18:50[music playing]
- 18:51Leslie is trying to pretend that she
- 18:53is the victim, but any animosity that the moms have towards her,
- 18:57Leslie brought on herself.
- 18:58[music playing]
- 19:00I keep moving,
- 19:01I Keep going.
- 19:02Going through the motions.
- 19:04[music playing]
- 19:05BROOKE: My solo this week is a contemporary number.
- 19:08And Abby and the moms are constantly fighting,
- 19:11so my song and my dance are about that.
- 19:15Everybody's watching but nobody knows who I am.
- 19:19Just step up to the corner.
- 19:20'Cause I-- - Finish the turn.
- 19:21[music playing]
- 19:22So Kel, how do you feel about Brooke
- 19:24doing a solo to her own song?
- 19:26I think it's amazing.
- 19:27LESLIE: I don't know what she's--
- 19:27I'm excited.
- 19:28What is that song about?
- 19:30I personally think it's a lot about Abby.
- 19:32It talks about her hurting, and how she keeps dancing
- 19:35to get through it, and--
- 19:37Ya.
- 19:38Obviously, emotional hurt, or physical?
- 19:39HOLLY: Both.
- 19:40Well, both.
- 19:41I'll just keep moving--
- 19:42GIANNA: Go to that corner.
- 19:45Chainé out of it.
- 19:46Down, down.
- 19:47Just waiting for you.
- 19:48Up.
- 19:49[music playing]
- 19:51Hi Abby, it's Leslie.
- 19:52[music playing]
- 19:54I'm here watching Brooke do a solo
- 19:56and even though Kelly shouldn't be here,
- 19:59you didn't allow her back from what I know of.
- 20:02So could you please get back to me as soon as possible?
- 20:05Thank you.
- 20:06Leslie, why are you so upset about the solo?
- 20:08What do you do when Gia gets fired?
- 20:09[music playing]
- 20:10I told Gia when I walked in here, do no choreograph
- 20:13my daughter a solo-- LESLIE: But you forget--
- 20:15KELLY: --if you're going to lose your job.
- 20:16But you forget, you're the one that asked for a solo--
- 20:18KELLY: So did you.
- 20:19-- knowing that Brooke would get one.
- 20:19KELLY: So did you.
- 20:20But I've been here.
- 20:21You're a fill-in.
- 20:23No, I'm here.
- 20:24You're a fill-in.
- 20:25[music playing]
- 20:26Leslie really wants Kelly's spot,
- 20:27and she really wants to be on the team,
- 20:29and Payton really deserves to be on the team,
- 20:30and Leslie really is already part of the team,
- 20:32and she's on the team, and she doesn't want to be on the team
- 20:34if we're on the team.
- 20:35So she doesn't want us on the team so she can be on the team.
- 20:36[music playing]
- 20:38We're going to run through your dance a couple of times.
- 20:39OK.
- 20:40This is the last
- 20:41Uh-huh.
- 20:42There's no time for forgetting, OK?
- 20:44Yeah.
- 20:45Let's go.
- 20:46Some days I'm walking down the street and I can hear the--
- 20:48There you go. -- hear the party.
- 20:49There's a party-- - Straighten your front knee.
- 20:50-- party burning--
- 20:52Asia is performing a jazz routine to "Lightening"
- 20:53this week. -- and I want to get a party--
- 20:54I put all of her tricks in it.
- 20:55I want her to be as prepared as she can be when nationals
- 20:57comes. -- on my--
- 20:58Careful.
- 20:59-- on my street.
- 21:00I will hit you just like lightning.
- 21:03Hit you just like lightning when I come on over.
- 21:06That was almost nationals ready.
- 21:09Oh.
- 21:10Oh, I just got a text from Hannah's mom, Lori.
- 21:12Oh, good.
- 21:13So I'm going to go get her.
- 21:14My connection with Starlight sent me a letter regarding
- 21:18Hannah, saying that she really wanted to meet Maddie
- 21:21because she watches Maddie's videos on YouTube.
- 21:23Hi, Hannah.
- 21:24- Hi. - I'm Melissa
- 21:25Hi.
- 21:26Nice to meet you.
- 21:27Nice to meet you, too.
- 21:28We're so glad you're here.
- 21:30My husband and I always teach our kids
- 21:31that you have to serve.
- 21:32WOMEN: Hi.
- 21:34- Give you a hug. - Hi.
- 21:35- It's so nice to meet you. - You too.
- 21:36Thank you for coming. HOLLY: We're Glad you made it.
- 21:38HANNAH: [laughing]
- 21:39And where are you guys from? What part of--
- 21:40LORI: Greensburg.
- 21:41She lives in Greensburg.
- 21:42Oh, that's out my way.
- 21:44[music playing]
- 21:45So it's really important to teach our kids to help others.
- 21:50Hi, guys.
- 21:51Are we allowed to come in, Gia?
- 21:53GIANNA: Yeah.
- 21:53This is Hannah.
- 21:54This is Lori, this is Maddie.
- 21:55MADDIE: Hi.
- 21:56GIANNA: Hello.
- 21:57Hannah actually has--
- 22:01can you pronounce it for me?
- 22:02Shari--
- 22:03LORI: Chiari malformation.
- 22:05She had brain surgery whenever she was 2 and 1/2.
- 22:08[music playing]
- 22:09She was very sick, and she would just
- 22:11stop breathing all the time. [music playing]
- 22:12It was great giving Hannah the chance to meet Maddie and see
- 22:15her dance. If you--
- 22:16MELISSA: I'll never forget the look on her face.
- 22:18-- down--
- 22:19GIANNA: And bring your right leg up.
- 22:19Looking on you--
- 22:20And you know to ball changes.
- 22:22Meeting Hannah, I think she's a great girl, and super nice.
- 22:25-- and--
- 22:26And that just reminds me how lucky I am to be able to dance.
- 22:31Wait a minute.
- 22:32I just got a text from Abby.
- 22:34Huh-uh.
- 22:35The first line says, read out loud,
- 22:37with three exclamation marks.
- 22:39It says, Yes I did call Gianna back,
- 22:42and I did tell her that Brooke should not do a solo,
- 22:46nor be in this group dance.
- 22:48I heard, to quote Gianna, saying she couldn't
- 22:51do the choreography in the senior group.
- 22:54She's talking out of her--
- 22:55[drums beating]
- 22:56FYI, Payton can do a solo.
- 22:58[cymbals sliding]
- 22:59Leslie, I am not pulling Brooke's solo
- 23:01to make room for your daughter.
- 23:02This is the one time [interposing voices] it
- 23:04didn't work out for your daughter, Brooke.
- 23:05One-- KELLY: [bleep] off, Leslie.
- 23:06-- time that she did not work out--
- 23:07KELLY: Get the [bleep] out of my face.
- 23:09LESLIE: And don't say that language right in my face.
- 23:10KELLY: I'll say whatever the hell I want to say.
- 23:11Go.
- 23:12Who the hell do you think you are?
- 23:13My child's mother.
- 23:14I don't care who you are.
- 23:15Don't take your frustration on Abby out on me.
- 23:18Ask Payton to do a solo.
- 23:19What's the matter, [inaudible] you didn't get what you wanted?
- 23:22You've been spoiled all your life.
- 23:23Yeah, at least I'm not a hoodlum, like you.
- 23:25[drums beating] - I'm not a hoodlum.
- 23:26I don't say the F word every two seconds like you
- 23:28do, you trash mouth.
- 23:30I don't go to court for broken beer bottles on people's heads
- 23:32either.
- 23:34Don't turn it around on me because you didn't get what you
- 23:35wanted, once, for your child. KELLY: Shut up.
- 23:37No. Don't tell me to shut up.
- 23:38- Well, then don't talk to me. - [inaudible]
- 23:40I'm scared of you being in my face, Leslie.
- 23:42I don't care. I'm--
- 23:43- And telling me-- - -- don't sit next to me.
- 23:44- -- I shouldn't be here. - Then go sit down there.
- 23:45- I should be here. - Then go sit down there.
- 23:46No. That's my seat.
- 23:47- Well, I'm in it. - You go sit down there.
- 23:48I'm in it. Move me.
- 23:49Move me. - I've never asked you--
- 23:50- I want you to try to move me. - OK.
- 23:57[music playing]
- 23:59[girls screaming]
- 24:02AUDIENCE: Abby, Abby, Woo, Abby, Abby.
- 24:05[music playing]
- 24:06You guys coming in?
- 24:07Oh, good.
- 24:08[music playing]
- 24:10GIANNA: We're in San dusky, Ohio at Believe Talent Competition.
- 24:13This week Abby's not with us, but we're still here to win,
- 24:15and I'm here to take this team to the top.
- 24:17[women talking]
- 24:20Oh, we have lots of chairs.
- 24:21Kendall, start getting your makeup out and the hairbrush.
- 24:23[music playing]
- 24:25I heard a couple of people ask where was Abby.
- 24:26Yeah.
- 24:27You know what?
- 24:28Abby's not here.
- 24:29I do hope she shows up, too.
- 24:31I want her to be here today, because that's why I am here.
- 24:33[music playing]
- 24:34Did Abby ever text you back, Leslie?
- 24:36Never text me back to tell me if she was coming today or not.
- 24:39[drums beating]
- 24:40Is Payton doing a solo? [cymbals sliding]
- 24:41No.
- 24:42How could she do a solo? She didn't practice a solo.
- 24:44Well, neither did Brooke.
- 24:45Brooke learned it the same day.
- 24:46Brooke learned it in 15 minutes.
- 24:48And Brooke said Payton has her solo costume in the room.
- 24:50I don't understand why you're asking that.
- 24:51Isn't your daughter, Brooke, doing a solo?
- 24:53Yes.
- 24:54Well, then how are they both doing as solo, then?
- 24:55- Well, you have [inaudible]. - Why can't she?
- 24:56You know, you want Payton to have opportunities,
- 24:59well it sounds like you have more opportunities
- 25:00than anybody.
- 25:01I just don't understand why we are a threat to you.
- 25:04Oh, you're not a threat to me, Leslie.
- 25:06Well, then--
- 25:07I'm just pointing out that you're--
- 25:08-- you know what? Then hush.
- 25:08I don't need to hush.
- 25:09I don't need to hear your comments.
- 25:10You made such a big deal--
- 25:11In no way, shape, or form am I a threat to you--
- 25:13Not at all.
- 25:14-- so I don't understand the smart comment.
- 25:15You complaining constantly, I'm [inaudible] what you want.
- 25:16The smart comments, is that you're
- 25:17a smart ass is what you are.
- 25:19Excuse you, in front of the children.
- 25:20JILL: No one said she wasn't on the team.
- 25:22No, you didn't say anything.
- 25:24Why are you barking at me? I just asked--
- 25:25I'm not saying one more word.
- 25:27Because the next time somebody says I'm barking,
- 25:28I am not saying a word.
- 25:29[music playing]
- 25:30CHRISTI: Leslie is like a fricking psycho cyclone.
- 25:33Payton should be on the team. Can I be on the team?
- 25:35I want be on the team?
- 25:36But I didn't say I want to be on the team,
- 25:37you said I wanted to be on the team.

- 28:08[music playing]
- 28:09I think having Hannah here is going to definitely help Maddie

- 28:13[music playing]
- 28:14I think she's going to dance from her heart, and for Hannah.
- 28:16ANNOUNCER: Coming up next, it's going to be entry 34.

- 28:26[music playing]
- 28:35I guess you have your whole life planned out.
- 28:39I look in the mirror, and I start to break down.
- 28:44Broken pieces of my heart on the floor.
- 28:48Will you help me, 'cause I can't take it anymore.
- 28:54And I need you somewhere holding on.
- 29:00Everyday I pray, everyday I wait on you.

- 29:40[music playing]
- 29:49I thought the kids looked great.

- 29:52I thought Asia looked great.
- 29:54I wish Abby was here because they did amazing--
- 29:56- That's the thing-- - -- under that pressure.
- 29:57[drumming]
- 29:58-- Abby doesn't want to be here,
- 29:59or she would've been here.
- 30:01This is her dance team, and she owes them the respect
- 30:05that she should be present.
- 30:06We have all made sacrifices to be here,
- 30:09and there are places that we all could be with their family.
- 30:11She has made it clear she doesn't care
- 30:14about our kids or her team.

- 30:31[laughs]
- 30:32[music playing]
- 30:33You did beautifully.
- 30:34Thank you.
- 30:35But at the end, did you look at her?
- 30:36Because it looked like when you were finished, she was like,
- 30:38she looked at me.
- 30:39When you were finished and you smile?
- 30:41Yeah.
- 30:42MELISSA: Can I have my phone, in my purse?
- 30:44Who you go calling?
- 30:45Abby.
- 30:46Oh, good.
- 30:47I thought we would draw straws, who got the shortest
- 30:50stick to your call her.

- 31:08Oh, you're in Orlando.
- 31:09When are you coming home?
- 31:10ABBY (ON PHONE): Whenever Brooke and Paige
- 31:12get the hell out of my studio.
- 31:14[music playing]
- 31:17Abby?
- 31:19Were you serious when you said Payton could have a solo?
- 31:22ABBY (ON PHONE): Yes.
- 31:24OK.
- 31:25ABBY (ON PHONE): Is Payton doing a solo?
- 31:27LESLIE: Brooke is doing a solo.

- 31:30[phone beeping]
- 31:31[music playing]
- 31:33I think we got disconnected.
- 31:36She doesn't want us here.
- 31:39KELLY: It doesn't matter she wants us here, Brooke.
- 31:41Even when Abby's not here, she still finds a way
- 31:45to mess with these girls.
- 31:46[crying]
- 31:48Don't cry.
- 31:50[music playing]
- 31:51Look, there's nothing we can do.
- 31:52[sniffs]
- 31:54Whatever relationship I could have had with Abby is gone.
- 31:56Don't cry.
- 31:57Come on.
- 31:58[music playing]
- 32:04[phone ringing]hone ri]

- 32:09We're all getting ready for a competition.
- 32:11When are you coming home to us?
- 32:13ABBY (ON PHONE): Whenever Brooke and Paige
- 32:14get the hell out of my studio.
- 32:16[music playing]
- 32:17Even when Abby's not here she still finds a way
- 32:21to mess with these girls.
- 32:22LESLIE: So then--
- 32:23You know Abby doesn't mean what she's saying.
- 32:26She loves you, Brooke.
- 32:27She talks about you all the time.
- 32:30Prove to her that you deserve to be on this team.
- 32:32No.
- 32:33[music playing]
- 32:34I would never make you do something
- 32:35I didn't think you should do.
- 32:36You know I would never do something like that.
- 32:39Brooke, you can do this.
- 32:40I've watched you do your dance.
- 32:41I just don't understand why I can't do it next week.
- 32:44Brooke, you know it.
- 32:45No.
- 32:47You don't even need an hour to learn the dance,
- 32:51you just go on stage and you're beautiful.
- 32:53You have almost two hours.
- 32:54Just do it.
- 32:55Because then Abby's going to be back,
- 32:57and she's not going to let us.
- 32:58I'm not really sure about doing this dance
- 33:00because Abby already hates us, and she's probably
- 33:03going to hate me more after doing this dance, but Yeah.
- 33:07What if nobody even likes my song?
- 33:08[music playing]
- 33:13[applause]
- 33:14[cheering]
- 33:17[music playing]
- 33:19ANNOUNCER: Coming up next, it's going to be entry 36.
- 33:22Entry 3 6, competing for a title.

- 33:28[applause]
- 33:29Woo!
- 33:30[applause]
- 33:31[music playing]
- 33:43I keep moving, going through the motions.
- 33:49Step by step, doing what I'm told.
- 33:54The lights are on me, everybody's watching,
- 33:59but nobody knows who I am.
- 34:04'Cause I hurt, yeah I hurt all over my body.
- 34:10I dance, I just dance to get through.
- 34:15Yeah, I hurt, yeah, it hurts all over my body for you.
- 34:24[applause]
- 34:25[cheering]
- 34:26Woo!
- 34:29[cheering]
- 34:30I'm very proud of Brooke, under the circumstances.
- 34:32She had 15 minutes to learn this dance.
- 34:35She was dancing to her own song.
- 34:37And before she went on stage she sat and listened to Abby
- 34:41say horrible things about her, and I'm very proud of her.
- 34:44[cymbals sliding]
- 34:45JILL: I still want you to--
- 34:46KELLY: G, how great-- you guys, how great would it
- 34:48feel to win first place?
- 34:49I hope so.
- 34:51And Abby hasn't been here all week Abby hasn't
- 34:53done a single thing.
- 34:54This would be on you and Gia.
- 34:55And this dance is different, you guys.
- 34:57This dance is going to be something that they haven't
- 34:59seen yet today.
- 35:00I can guarantee you that.
- 35:01Gia, would you take all nine kids, for a small group,
- 35:04to nationals?
- 35:05[music playing]
- 35:06Ask me again after they dance.
- 35:07OK. That's fair.
- 35:09It's so important to me today that the girls dance
- 35:11their best, to show Abby that I can pull this off,
- 35:14that I can pull out a win for her team.
- 35:16I need them to be as strong as they ever were.
- 35:18[music playing]
- 35:21ANNOUNCER: Coming up next, ladies and gentlemen,
- 35:23is going to be entry 81.

- 35:42Life has changes, rearranges, but I want this to stay.
- 35:58We'll just be.
- 36:06We'll just be.
- 36:14Like two birds flying over the sea,
- 36:22we'll just be in our melody.
- 36:32[applause]
- 36:33[cheering]
- 36:34[music playing]
- 36:35[cheering]
- 36:36[applause]
- 36:37[cheering]
- 36:38Did so great.
- 36:40It has been a long time since I felt so emotionally invested
- 36:44in a group dance.
- 36:45And if these girls can pull off a win without Abby, .
- 36:48This might be my favorite victory ever.
- 36:50[music playing]
- 36:51[applause]
- 36:52[cheering]
- 36:53[music playing]
- 36:56We want one.
- 36:57-- All right.
- 36:58We're going to start.
- 37:00Moving into the advanced level, second
- 37:02place, "Over the Rainbow."

- 37:07And your highest scoring lead member soldier
- 37:10will be, "Lightning."
- 37:13[cheering]
- 37:14Ya!
- 37:15[music playing]
- 37:16[applause]
- 37:18So Asia gets first, and I knew she would.

- 37:32[applause]
- 37:33KELLY: Great job, Brooke.
- 37:35[applause]
- 37:36I think if Brooke had a good costume and good choreography,
- 37:39she would've got first.
- 37:41Your highest scoring soloist will be--
- 37:44[drum roll]
- 37:45-- entry number 34.
- 37:47[cheering] - -- "Hold On."

- 38:02[music playing]
- 38:03I'm giving my first place trophy to Hannah, because she
- 38:06deserves it way more than I do.
- 38:08This trophy's for you. [applause]
- 38:09MAN: Yeah.
- 38:10And Starlight is a wonderful organization.

- 38:17[applause]
- 38:18[cheering]
- 38:19[music playing]
- 38:20Maddie got a huge, giant, trophy.
- 38:22I think it was probably five feet tall,
- 38:25and she gave it to Hannah.
- 38:27And think that's really a sweet thing because a big trophy's
- 38:30kind of cool to have.
- 38:329 to 11, small groups.
- 38:34OK, here we go.
- 38:35[drum roll]

- 39:15[screams]
- 39:17[screams]
- 39:18-
- 39:19[music playing]
- 39:20That was like winning the Olympics.
- 39:21That is really-- it's a big deal.
- 39:23[cheering]
- 39:25I definitely think that Abby will be back next week,
- 39:27unless her mother takes a turn for the worst.
- 39:29Call her right now and tell her we won.
- 39:31[music playing]
- 39:32Are you serious? Do I really need to call her?
- 39:34She probably doesn't want to hear about our win.
- 39:36[phone ringing]
- 39:38MANDY (ON PHONE): Hi, you have reached Mandy, can I help you?
- 39:40I'm sorry?

- 40:05I'm really not sure where Abby is.
- 40:07Is she in Pittsburgh, is she in Florida?
- 40:09She was with her mother, but then when she called Gianna,
- 40:12she wasn't with her mother at all.
- 40:13That's all hearsay, though.
- 40:14You don't know if any of that's true.
- 40:16All right. Keep protecting her, Leslie.
- 40:17All I'm saying is she should have been here,
- 40:19but if she was with her mother, then that's understandable.
- 40:22She said she wasn't coming back until I was gone.
- 40:24She never mentioned a word about,
- 40:26my mother is sick, that's why I'm not here.
- 40:29She's not here because I'm here.
- 40:31She said nothing about her mother.

- 40:52I miss her.
- 40:53[music playing]
- 40:54I do too.
- 40:55[music playing]
- 40:57I wish Abby was here to see our d win.
- 41:00[music playing]
- 41:01Abby should have been here.
- 41:02She would've been proud of you guys, but she wasn't.

- 41:06[music playing]
- 41:11ABBY (VOICEOVER): Next, on "Dance Moms."
