0:33in my bathroom at the apartment I was at
0:365 years ago. And I remember making a
0:38wild card just to see if I would still
0:41get in with the level uh 5 years later.

0:46somewhere in a folder. I don't know.
0:48Don't ask me for it. Just thought I'd
0:49show you some fun news. Anyway, stop
0:51what you're doing.

2:01before we get in. So, I am um first
2:05place wild card to get into this
2:08competition. So, I did a video entry.
2:10Uh, some people qualified through other
2:13live events. I qualified through a wild
2:15card because I didn't enter other
2:16events. Uh my wild card got first place.
2:20So because of that amazing feat, I got
2:23awarded with going right after Kaji and
2:26Football Street and all the other best
2:28wild cards. They put me last right after
2:32all the good ones. So that's my reward
2:35for coming first in the wild cards. As
2:38if the pressure of seven years returning
2:40wasn't already enough. Let's put me
2:42after second, third, and fourth wild
2:44card winners, right? Anyway, it is what
2:46it is. And then after me comes all the
2:48people that won entry in different live
2:51ways and other ways like pre-
2:53prequalified and stuff. All right, so um
2:57I am backstage. I have just done my crew
3:02seeding round with verbal damage, which
3:04you're going to see soon. And when I
3:06tell you that I had to
3:11re-calibrate my energy and it weren't
3:14the best time to get back on stage and
3:16do a piece like I'm about to. That will
3:18all make sense if you've watched my
3:20verbal damage crew seeding round. All
3:22right, I had to do that and then shortly
3:25after stand around for an hour backstage
3:27and then do this. So, it wasn't the best
3:29circumstance. I would have rather done
3:30it the other way for obvious reasons.
3:33That's fine though. Um, definitely just
3:36locked in
3:38doing the set in my head. I'm a little
3:40nervous to get in and check this out to
3:42be honest, but I'm excited regardless.
3:45So, no more to say. I I'll give you my

6:07nerves and focus are playing a part here
6:10to catch me off in pitches a bit. I

10:57yet um because they're not fully in my
10:58head memory of where I rank for people.

11:03Uh I have to say up until the
11:12I love it. At that point, it was
11:15supposed to be better going into the
11:17wild card. You know, it's a hype wild
11:18card. It just won first place for this
11:20comp. But the the uh crucially the the
11:24sound wouldn't come out. So, the whole
11:27rest of it was great. It's just the
11:29which is the most like the the hit the
11:32impact sound. So, at least the rest of
11:34the beat was great. So, it didn't it
11:36wasn't that awkward. It was just the
11:38bass didn't come out, which is a
11:40definite thing to penalize score down
11:42on. Um, I also don't like the abrupt
11:46switch here.
11:48That should have stayed long. Not this,
11:52but I noticed that frequency came out
11:54really good in the middle of the no
11:56color drop. I go
12:00and that came out great. So, I used it
12:03at the end there. But ideally, I should
12:05have rolled out that final progressive
12:07drop.
12:14No, keep
12:24rag. Something like that. Possibly would
12:28have been a slight better touch on it.
12:30All right, let's break this down a
12:31little bit more then. Let's get into
12:32this. Let's get into the details and
12:33I'll tell you more. So,

13:24Uh, so I'm a little bit shy. I'm a
13:26little bit shy in myself here. Um, not
13:28like there's 3,000 people and faces in
13:31front of me anticipating one of the
13:33biggest returns you you've seen in
13:35Beatbox. Um, so yeah, I have to say I
13:38definitely didn't enjoy this as much as
13:41I wanted to because I've been able to
13:45enjoy the whole process of getting ready
13:47for GBB because I didn't um I didn't put
13:50the pressure on myself. I am what I am.
13:52I am as good as I know I am. Um, and I'm
13:56just happy to enjoy this project. Uh,
13:59but and but then there's a lot of
14:00there's a lot of talk and a lot of
14:02preanticipation and a lot of external
14:05pressure and people feeling the pressure
14:08for me in a in a way. All of that I
14:10didn't feel until I was on the stage and
14:12I went, "All right, now we're here. Now
14:14it does matter." You know, for me it
14:16don't matter. all these weeks and months
14:18I'm just having fun with life locking in
14:21thinking of all the battle tricks and
14:24all the sets um and having a good time
14:26but when I get to the stage then I will
14:29say one of the uh the cons to that then
14:32is then it kicked in this does matter
14:34okay

15:11proud of how full I sound on the mic as
15:13well.

15:50Yanny, it's kind of like that a little
15:52bit with my bass here. Check it out.

15:56Right. So, it's a two-tone thing, isn't
15:57it? There's h. And now when you hear
16:01this this chord that comes in, you can
16:04either hear it in its two cord uh two
16:06pitches making the chord or you might
16:09only hear like one pitch. So tell me
16:12what you hear in the comments. Listen,
16:16you either hear
16:18or you hear
16:21and if you don't hear the chord, listen
16:23again and try and hear the chord. Okay.

17:11why I've lit I've done shows like for
17:14the last couple of years and I've done
17:15way better vocal uh vocals on the mic
17:18than this I tell you what it is clearly
17:20and obviously it's the context isn't it
17:22it's the pressure it's the the hyper
17:25focus just the over focus potentially.
17:28Uh these things are leading to my vocals
17:30being a little bit restricted I would
17:33say. So not the best uh the cleanest
17:36vocal performance from me unfortunately.
17:38Uh but that's fine. It's true and it's
17:41real. I'm not the best technical
17:42vocalist. Um but I am an improved one.
17:45So it is a bit annoying that my singing
17:48didn't reflect how good it's got
17:50compared to how it used to be as much.
17:52Like back then it was there, now it's
17:54here. But in this it was probably back
17:56then is there, now it's only got to
17:58here. I'm better than this vocal take.
18:00That's what I'm trying to say. Um, but
18:03that's okay. Like I say, I'm proud of
18:05it. It's real. It's raw. So,
18:08I'll take it. I've got to be better.
18:15>> I'm still happy with it.
18:18Now we got this like side chained kick
18:20effect in the in this body base.
18:36It's
18:42I feel like Yeah, the the vocals feel a
18:45bit loud. I could have um they're gonna
18:47have to be pitch perfect if I want them
18:49to pierce through so well there. So um
18:52yeah, I wouldn't score down on it, but I
18:55wouldn't call it a particular upscorer.
18:58Um I remember this last pitch was
19:00slightly worse than the other two. The
19:01first two there are quite fine.
19:04I love that. [music]

19:25I listen, I don't know how you feel
19:29about my set or this part. I can tell
19:32the crowd was really liking this bit.
19:36But don't get me wrong, they didn't go I
19:39mean, I thought there'd be a little bit
19:41more craze in this moment, but I'm still
19:44happy with the amount of love that it
19:46was given, but this is my right up my
19:50street, my style, my type of beatbox,
19:53and so of obviously my preference is I
19:56love this and I'm so happy with this
19:59part.

20:05listen to that. So happy this bit went
20:08out so well.
20:23Ain't no color.
20:31Yeah, man. Ah, dynamics. I love it
20:36because of the dynamics.
20:38And then we talked about this going
20:40forward. So, the F switch, good idea in
20:43in context. And the progression was
20:45fine. Like, I went into the uh wild
20:47card. It was very hype. The buildup felt
20:49very nice. The drop was pretty good,
20:50too, but it lacked the wow. Okay. So,
20:57and then decent end in there just to
20:59bring out a bit more.
21:01>> Um, I have to say I would natively, if I
21:05was trying to be an impartial judge,
21:08this would be in my high end.
21:10I would have this scored high. Um,
21:13ceiling was slightly higher because I
21:16would have this pretty damn high as wow.
21:19But then I would as a judge score down
21:22on the pitch precision uh and the inward
21:25base not coming out. I probably lost a
21:27spot I would say from the the inward
21:30base not coming out. That's how I would
21:32judge. I feel like it's not it doesn't
21:34warrant not going down a spot and it
21:36definitely does not warrant going down
21:38loads of spots from a bass alone. So
21:40maybe a spot for that. And also if
21:42pitching and singing is going to be so
21:44prominent in the set then it has to be
21:46done at a high standard. and it was done
21:49at a midstandard. The pitches are great
21:52and that was captivating. That's what
21:54makes the song captivating in my opinion
21:56is that the choice of pitching and the
21:58way that the progression of the uh
22:01pitches go along the set. Um, so I liked
22:03that, but it's going to have to be done
22:05really precise and I do think that that
22:07can also warrant a score down. So
22:11here's my ranking so far. Now I I feel
22:16comfy as with my ranking here. So
22:19definitely uh there's my list there. So
22:21we got Footbox at the top, we got Hippie
22:23at the bottom. For me, it very simply
22:27and definitely slots right in that gap
22:30there between Kaji and Exalos.
22:33So it's not uh really close to Kaji and
22:37Footbox for me there. Right up there.
22:41Um, it's probably closer to Exalos who
22:44killed it. Uh, I just think that the
22:46theme of my set was so strong from start
22:48to finish. So, it currently sits in
22:50third, but without trying to give out
22:53too many spoilers, there are a lot of
22:56good um, eliminations coming. So, my
22:59rank is definitely subject to change.
23:02Um, but yeah, that's where I sit right
23:04now and I'm really proud of it. And it's
23:08a very strange phenomenon to get my
23:13stuff critiqued and judged. Um,
23:17so
23:19yeah, let's see how the judges scored
23:21it.

23:34in the crowd. Um, a lot of people, we
23:36did the vlog and a lot of people, it was
23:38captured by Sam who vlogged it. Big up

23:42people at the event said that they came
23:45for me in particular, which
23:48so thanks to anyone that did come out uh
23:50with that anticipated moment in mind.
23:53And same for anyone watching on the live
23:54stream and just showing support. It goes
23:57such a long way. There is no part of my
24:01career that I have never
24:04appreciated the support. I came from a
24:08underdog position. I came from nothing
24:11and I rose to the point I could through
24:14just dedication, man. Like, and it's not
24:19it's not foundationally sustainable
24:22without you guys. So, it's for you. I
24:25hope you enjoy what I do and I
24:27constantly try and find ways to change
24:29it up and and deliver what you might
24:31want to hear. And I appreciate the
24:34support, even the critiques, everything,
24:36guys. Like, say you say, I'm here for
24:39it. I'm happy to hear it all. Uh,
24:41appreciate it. So, ranking. Let's see.

25:01probably quite fair. Um, we're going to
25:03hear more to see the whole story unfold.

25:13this is the this is the biggest
25:15fluctuation I've seen so far. No, is
25:18that Yeah. 12 places? No. Uh, sorry, 12.
25:22I'm being crazy. Sorry, eight. Sorry,
25:24I'm an idiot. Stop. Eight places
25:27fluctuation is a lot. That's an entire
25:30top eight in between me and one judge
25:32and the other. So, uh, we've got the
25:35height being third place and the lowest
25:38being 11th place. Okay.
25:41Um, I mean, I designed my elimination
25:45after being I've been on the judge panel
25:47for years, so I kind of know what I've
25:49built to rank, you know? So, naturally,
25:52I'm more inclined to get in a higher
25:54rank, obviously, unless I was really
25:57upset with my performance, then I'd be
25:58happy with the people that scored me
26:00low, which everyone's rank is fair. But,
26:02I did a pretty solid job there. So, I do
26:05resonate a bit more with the third place
26:07than I do with the 11th, but I probably
26:10resonate more with those middle
26:11rankings. Seven, seven, and eight sounds
26:13pretty fair. Um, third, I can see it for
26:19uh reasons such as like the composition
26:21has a start to finish theme. And there
26:23was probably
26:25high
26:26uh precise moments inside the set that I
26:28think Skiler may have appreciated. I'd
26:30love to hear. Um, 11th bottom half.
26:35That feels rough. That feels rough to
26:37take. I have to admit. I do have to
26:40admit the bottom half after hearing
26:43these are limbs. I'm in the bottom half.
26:46I wonder I did chat to I've chatted to a
26:50few of the judges about a few of the
26:51things like Wing picked up and mentioned
26:53to me that he didn't like the pitching
26:55in the uh
26:59so I did hear that and that's a fair
27:00critique. Um what else was there? No, I
27:05haven't heard I don't think I've heard
27:06much about any of my limb from any of
27:08the others actually. I can't remember
27:10anyway. Might have had a small chat with
27:12collapse. Not sure. Um, I want to know
27:13why this was bottom uh half for ZD. Um,
27:18I'm in for the other four judges. Um,
27:21and I did to be honest with you guys. I
27:23got a lot of mixed feedback after this
27:25live. I remember a lot of people said,
27:28"Yep, good job done. Not the highest
27:30rank, but you're going to be safe." Uh,
27:32I had some people saying, "I don't know
27:33if this is in." Um, and my own feeling
27:36was I was probably playing a bit of a
27:38risk in the end. This set wasn't really
27:42designed to be that risky. I will admit
27:45I didn't build this a limb to win the
27:48first place. This was not the reason.
27:50Um, if I wanted to do that, I would have
27:53stepped up and I would have gone crazy,
27:56you know. Wow. Like this. Whoa.
27:59Now, I also think that I suffered a
28:02little bit with the overdog or I don't
28:07know the word for it, like the opposite
28:08of the underdog. I'm the hype one, the
28:12big name, the favorite name, whatever it
28:14might be. Um, a lot of pressure and with
28:17a lot of pressure and a lot of
28:19anticipation comes a massive
28:22expectation. And to be honest with you
28:24guys, to be really transparent, I've
28:26tried to sit and figure out what went on
28:31the wrong side with this one. And I
28:33haven't really comfortably settled that
28:36yet. I don't know.
28:39But what I can say is I do think that
28:42that expectation mad. I think the only
28:44way I was going to live up to the
28:47expectation
28:49was to go my hardest.
28:52And another thing is wow is a lot of
28:54these people that have came here to
28:56watch this event, the ones that have
28:58came for me anyway, they might not have
29:00heard much beatbox live. So they may
29:02have been expecting me to sound like an
29:04alien human compared to the other
29:06beatboxers. And that's not the truth.
29:08dynamically I am great. I sound really
29:10good on the mic. I sound full and you'd
29:12put me at the top echelon of the
29:13sounding on the microphone, but that's
29:15the point. There's other beatboxers
29:17there that have dynamics that are even
29:19better than mine in other ways. And um
29:21we all have a big there's a whole
29:22spectrum of it and I just I just fit in
29:25with the good ones. Um I'm not an
29:28exception for the microphone and uh
29:30stuff. So probably a high expectation
29:34was only going to be lived up to if I
29:35turned up there and went for domination
29:37first place attack. Um something like
29:40what Footbox G did. He gave a massive
29:44amount for that limb and he reaped the
29:46benefits because for me I have to admit
29:49boxes was exceptional and as you can see
29:51it sits first for me. Uh this was a full
29:54rounded piece. I feel like the aim was
29:57to score like three was the aim. So I
29:59wanted to be third. I was preferred for
30:01one judge. Um, not sure I agree with
30:04that. I do think I was lower in the end.
30:06Um, probably because things didn't hit,
30:09but then it wasn't really intended to.
30:11Imagine that landing at the end. Imagine
30:14the inward base impact bang at the end.
30:17Probably would have boosted my rank in
30:18general. But anyway, this is all an open
30:20subjective art form. Did you enjoy my

30:52would say to for this to not be in would
30:55have felt harsh because the score
30:57there's two score downs I mentioned but
30:59there is big score ups like the theme of
31:01the piece like the the the arrangement
31:04the structure of the song start to
31:05finish and uh the varieties felt really
31:08strong the the it felt all identifiable
31:11as well and of course naturally original
31:13because I use a lot of original material
31:15in my performance.
31:17Yeah. Whoa. What a yap. Uh, it means a
31:21lot. It's not like I've thought about
31:22this all year or anything, guys.
31:25Yeah. So, that's my thought on it. Um,
31:30what I would have changed, um, I would
31:33have reminded myself how important it
31:35was to lock the pitches in, which
31:38slightly harder to hear on stage, isn't
31:40it? I mean, I've got front monitors, but
31:42it's not perfect to hear your pitching.
31:44Not as perfect as in- ear headphones. So
31:46probably that maybe I should have done
31:48some training in condition where I can't
31:50hear me doing pitching. So more like
31:51muscle memory. So I would have locked in
31:53with pitches. I wouldn't have changed
31:55anything in the set in the song set the
31:58song part. [snorts] Um and then I
32:01wouldn't have rushed the final 15
32:03seconds. I would have seen it out to be
32:05honest. So that's what I would have
32:06changed. Um and of course if I could I
32:09would have changed my inward base coming
32:10out better. I think that was a factor of
32:13stamina a little bit, but more so the
32:16nerves and then therefore my throat
32:18being quite dry. Um, and not being able
32:20to get that base out, which was also a
32:22problem in the other eliminations in the
32:24tag team and the crew. So, my in base
32:27didn't work on all the eliminations,
32:29which is not ideal. Now, it's time. I
32:31really hope if you guys made it to the
32:33end, appreciate you. Please go check out

32:43this song, this set is way better than
