- 24:49A very warm good morning to one and all.
- 24:54Respectful chief guest of the day
- 24:59Shri
- 25:01N. Prashant IA special secretary

- 25:06government of Kerala.
- 25:08Respectful
- 25:10dean faculty of technology
- 25:13and members indicate of coin university
- 25:15science and technology professor PSI
- 25:19respectful head of the departments
- 25:22professor
- 25:24kilasad
- 25:26professor
- 25:32warrior professor suja dvi priya
- 25:37and dear Faculties,
- 25:41dear parents and my dear students,
- 25:47you know the importance of this day
- 25:51as far as a person is concerned.
- 25:55It is one of the important occasions
- 25:59in your life.
- 26:02This is a special occasion in which
- 26:06your friends, your relatives, your
- 26:09parents, your teachers
- 26:13and the people from the university
- 26:15administration all be together. So
- 26:18sometimes this is one of the rare
- 26:20occasions which used to happen in the
- 26:22life of every person
- 26:26and it is as far as yourself is
- 26:27concerned those who are graduating from
- 26:29this university is concerned this is a
- 26:32um one of the happiest and important
- 26:35moment in your life.
- 26:39I take this opportunity to congratulate
- 26:43all the graduating students from the
- 26:46international school of photonics,
- 26:48school of environmental science and
- 26:51department of electronics and inter
- 26:53university center for nano devices.
- 26:56I also take this opportunity to
- 26:59particularly appreciating the parents of
- 27:02the students those who are graduating
- 27:04from today. Because of the support of
- 27:06the parents only you could have to
- 27:08achieve this remarkable achievement in
- 27:11your life because you all of you
- 27:13received the continuous support from
- 27:15your parents throughout your life till
- 27:18this particular day. And also I take
- 27:20this opportunity to appreciate the
- 27:24faculties of these three departments.
- 27:27Those who have paid a lot of attention
- 27:29for molding your character, imparting
- 27:32valuable knowledge for you and imparting
- 27:35the specialized skills as well as the
- 27:40values of our society and our university
- 27:43and our nation. Of course you know
- 27:48because this is some of the turning
- 27:49point with respect to your uh life is
- 27:52concerned
- 27:54and some of you spend here nearly five
- 27:57years valuable five years in this
- 27:59university that means some of the
- 28:01students those who joined here under the
- 28:04five-year integrated program and uh and
- 28:07some some of the students I think mostly
- 28:09from the department of electronics they
- 28:11spent their nearly two years at our
- 28:14university. So you have a lot of
- 28:17experiences
- 28:19even anyway that will be with a good
- 28:22memories for your ever life but you are
- 28:26going this is a turning point in your
- 28:29life. You are entering into another
- 28:32world
- 28:34and you can approach the world with a in
- 28:37different perspectives and different
- 28:39views.
- 28:40But of course you should have to keep it
- 28:42in mind that
- 28:44it is better to be always positive
- 28:49and better to be optimistic.
- 28:53As mentioned by the professor Kailasnad
- 28:57there are a lot of challenges are there
- 28:59in our living world. It s it's in a real
- 29:02world whatever it may be in our society
- 29:04in our family or maybe in our uh
- 29:07wherever we are going for our work and
- 29:11even for in wherever we are going there
- 29:14are challenges will be there.
- 29:16It is very easy to travel through a red
- 29:20carpet or maybe we can easily swim
- 29:25through a
- 29:27calm and quiet water.
- 29:29You can easily sim with the flow of the
- 29:33stream. But if you want to sim against
- 29:36the flow of the
- 29:38stream or if you want to
- 29:42make some changes, if you want to see
- 29:47across the troubled water,
- 29:50of course you need a because there are a
- 29:53lot of hardship you have to face. The
- 29:55life is not a simple answer to nobody
- 29:59can give an answer a simple answer for
- 30:01the life and it's a um ups and downs and
- 30:06happiness and all those things will be
- 30:08there in as happiness and sadness all
- 30:11it's mixed with all the things in your
- 30:13life it is the uh it is the life of the
- 30:17every people.
- 30:20So then we should have to think about
- 30:23and uh in what way we have to approach
- 30:26this hardship and what way we will see
- 30:29the world.
- 30:32So if you see the human history also
- 30:36they faced in each stage also if you see
- 30:38the history of the human being the
- 30:40development of the human beings from the
- 30:42neon neondaral to homo sapiens they
- 30:46faced a lot of problems even if you see
- 30:49the history some uh very long back. So
- 30:53whenever we are living in an environment
- 30:55and ecosystem wherever we are living we
- 30:57will have to face hardship and uh there
- 31:00are problems will be there but we have
- 31:03to uh approach that problems very
- 31:07positively
- 31:09and we have to be
- 31:11optimistic about the good things will
- 31:14happen and for you have to work for that
- 31:18rather than be pessimistic
- 31:21and uh I Hope all of you got a such a
- 31:25good training from Kin University of
- 31:27Science and Technology to approach our
- 31:29society and I hope all of you could have
- 31:32to pay a pivotal role for the building
- 31:34of our nation and you could have to
- 31:36contribute for the development of our
- 31:38society and the overall development and
- 31:41well-being of the human beings of our
- 31:43society.
- 31:45So you could have to work in a very
- 31:48positive way. I wish all the success in
- 31:51your future journey
- 31:55and best wishes to all of you. Once
- 31:59again I congratulating all of you on
- 32:03this happiest moment. Best wishes. Thank
- 32:06you all.
- 32:13Thank you sir for your insightful and
- 32:15inspiring words. May we all embrace
- 32:17optimism in life. As he said, we are
- 32:21truly privileged to have amidst us Shri
- 32:23Nen Prashant Aayas, special secretary
- 32:25department of sports and youth affairs,
- 32:27government of Kerala as a distinguished
- 32:30guest of the day. Shrien Prashant is a
- 32:33distinguished civil servant of the 2007
- 32:35batch who secured all India rank four in
- 32:38the UPSC civil services examination and
- 32:40graduated with first rank in law from
- 32:42the University of Kerala. Renowned as
- 32:45collector bro for his people centric
- 32:47approach to governance. He had led
- 32:50transformative initiations such as the
- 32:52internationally acclaimed operation
- 32:54slemani while making significant
- 32:56contributions across infrastructure,
- 32:58tourism, tribal welfare and skill
- 33:01development. A pioneer in leveraging
- 33:03social media for governance. He is also
- 33:06the founder of the N UD tribal heritage
- 33:08village and unadi dedicating the to

- 33:21showcased internationally including at
- 33:23the cans film festival. He is a
- 33:25best-selling author of collector bro
- 33:27life boy bro swami kadagal system out
- 33:30complete and mallayali memorial. With
- 33:32great honor, I now invite our chief
- 33:35guest Shri N Prashant Aayas to deliver
- 33:38the graduation address. So please
- 34:02honorable vice chancellor,
- 34:04members of the syndicate and the senate,
- 34:07faculty members, distinguished guests,
- 34:10proud parents and dear graduating
- 34:14students.
- 34:15Good morning to all of you. Uh it gives
- 34:18me great pleasure that um I'm here when
- 34:21you're going to start on a new phase in
- 34:25your life. Something completely
- 34:28different from what you have experienced
- 34:29so far. You're graduating. You are
- 34:31moving on
- 34:34into real life.
- 34:37Congratulations all of you because you
- 34:38have you have proven something. You have
- 34:41finished one major phase of your life.
- 34:43You're moving on to something
- 34:44significant where you'll be independent.
- 34:46You'll uh probably no longer have the
- 34:50comfort
- 34:51of mentors of so many people around you
- 34:54taking care of you. Now you'll be
- 34:56independent from them. So it's a
- 34:59different but maybe slightly difficult
- 35:02phase of life as well which you're going
- 35:04to face.
- 35:06And times are changing.
- 35:09You know that um probably this is the
- 35:13most um most disruptive or maybe most um
- 35:18difficult phases in human history when
- 35:22future is quite unpredictable.
- 35:24[clears throat]
- 35:26Of course technology progress all these
- 35:28things have happened over centuries but
- 35:31there was always some idea where we are
- 35:33headed to. you knew what's going to
- 35:37happen next at least in the you know
- 35:40near future. Now we are facing a unique
- 35:42scenario where um the very sciences
- 35:46which you have studied right now here
- 35:49those are going to contribute
- 35:51significantly in changing human life
- 35:54coupled with artificial intelligence and
- 35:57um you know other other things that are
- 36:00happening in parallel.
- 36:03It's the you have got the international
- 36:04school of photonics here
- 36:08and then
- 36:09you know what photonics stands for
- 36:13you have the international school of
- 36:14photonics and then just the school of
- 36:16enolment studies it's not international
- 36:18I don't know why
- 36:21then you left the school then you have
- 36:23just the department department of
- 36:25electronics
- 36:27three different terminologies
- 36:30but uh you know these three are in some
- 36:33way kind of connected I would say
- 36:35because um the purpose is same you have
- 36:38got science research convergence and
- 36:41cutting edge change uh that's being
- 36:44brought about in industry because these
- 36:47three are contributing significantly
- 36:49photonics obviously people don't really
- 36:51see you what you contribute much because
- 36:53that's all somewhere else it's in the
- 36:55background uh
- 36:59in fact all three but uh you So you know
- 37:04now the point is not just studying a few
- 37:08you know scientific fact subjects and
- 37:10then blurting out in a new in answer
- 37:13sheet and then moving on in life. You
- 37:14don't get jobs even in that sense. Uh
- 37:17getting employed is completely different
- 37:19from getting a graduation degree
- 37:23and continuing to be employed is also a
- 37:26challenge. Now getting a job itself
- 37:29doesn't suffice. You don't know when
- 37:30you'll be kicked out.
- 37:32Some of the courses which we study could
- 37:36be a three year, four year, five year
- 37:37course. You join a course and by the
- 37:40time you pass out of that course, you
- 37:42don't know whether that course is
- 37:43relevant. That's a pace at which things
- 37:46are changing in this world.
- 37:48I always say you know that there was
- 37:50this not a story it's a real incident of
- 37:52my friend in um 2019 just before co he
- 37:58went to China
- 38:00uh
- 38:02the time he came back co also came to
- 38:04India but I don't think he brought in co
- 38:07but he and his friends actually were
- 38:09there in China at that time so he
- 38:12narrated his experience when he came
- 38:14back
- 38:16they went to a technology park something
- 38:19very similar to Infosys I mean this info
- 38:22park or technop park I keep telling this
- 38:26story everywhere because the the impact
- 38:30that had you know when he narrated this
- 38:32to me in 2019 I really don't think
- 38:36people really get the story even now
- 38:39okay he went there into the park there
- 38:41was a car which took him around there
- 38:43was a particular building where he had
- 38:44to go inside that huge campus was
- 38:49the car that came to pick him didn't
- 38:51have a drive autonomous vehicle.
- 38:54It's very common now in other countries,
- 38:57not yet in India. But you know it is
- 38:59possible technologically it's possible.
- 39:01So this guy his friends they hopped into
- 39:04this car.
- 39:05The car drove them to the particular
- 39:08building in the campus where they got
- 39:10down. They got into the building. There
- 39:12was nobody to receive them. There was no
- 39:15watchmen. There's no security, nobody to
- 39:17usher them in. But there's one Chinese
- 39:20guy who was taking them around.
- 39:23So they went up to the particular
- 39:25office. They had the meeting. After the
- 39:27meeting, they went to the food court on
- 39:30top of the building. And in the food
- 39:32court, again, it was a buffet. There was
- 39:34nobody serving food. So they go and take
- 39:37food from,
- 39:39you know, each container. And the last
- 39:42counter there is the cash counter.
- 39:44Again, there's no cashier sitting there.
- 39:48They're just smiling and going along.
- 39:49So, it seems that, you know, everything
- 39:51is free, but nothing is free. In fact,
- 39:54um there was camera cameras that were
- 39:56set right above the, you know, food
- 39:58counters. So, whatever food you are
- 40:00taking, how much you are taking, what
- 40:02you are taking, everything is being
- 40:04captured through the cameras and the AI
- 40:06is telling, okay, let us bill him this
- 40:08much. So the exact amount is build to
- 40:12the Chinese guy who was accompanying
- 40:14them. And how did he pay? He was just
- 40:16smiling his face recognition. So from
- 40:17his account the money is going.
- 40:21But the experience was seamless.
- 40:24The moment they landed into the campus
- 40:27till they got out. The experience was so
- 40:29seamless
- 40:31and perfect. too perfect
- 40:34and scary
- 40:36because just imagine how many jobs were
- 40:38lost.
- 40:40Of course, the car driver
- 40:43he lost his job. There was nobody to
- 40:46receive uh so the receptionist is not
- 40:49there. The security guy is not there.
- 40:51There is no lift operator. There is
- 40:53nobody to serve food.
- 40:56There is nobody to take care of cash.
- 41:00So so many jobs disappeared
- 41:03in a in a such a populous country like
- 41:05China. They they are going ahead with
- 41:07these kind of things. They're not
- 41:09worried about job losses. They're just
- 41:12going ahead with AI and whatever
- 41:15technology is providing them.
- 41:18Now these are these are direct job
- 41:19losses. There are so many jobs which
- 41:21have disappeared in this process.
- 41:25For for example, you know these cars
- 41:29cars have accidents obviously. How do
- 41:32accidents happen? Accidents occur
- 41:34because you don't know what the other
- 41:36driver is about to do. When you take a
- 41:39turning, you don't know whether some
- 41:41other vehicle is coming from the other
- 41:42side. Then there is human error. So all
- 41:45these things contribute towards
- 41:47accidents and accident is one major
- 41:50input
- 41:52for the insurance business.
- 41:56My car is able to communicate with the
- 41:58other car and I know the precise speed,
- 42:02angle, you know the path the other
- 42:05vehicle is going to take. I can very
- 42:07easily avoid accidents and that is how
- 42:10technology works.
- 42:12This autonomous vehicles do communicate
- 42:14between themselves. every every uh car
- 42:17that is manufactured nowadays it has an
- 42:20inbuilt uh you know GPS system and all
- 42:23that just like our SIM card all these
- 42:26cars have their own SIM cards nowadays I
- 42:28I don't think many know that so that's
- 42:30how it communicates there's a satellite
- 42:32system that tracks every literally every
- 42:34vehicle now if the vehicles communicate
- 42:38and you know you know in advance
- 42:41tell each other what I'm going to do the
- 42:44confusion the complication, the
- 42:46misunderstanding, the accident all these
- 42:48comes down and which means the insurance
- 42:50premium goes down uh accidents come down
- 42:54and the insurance verifier the who the
- 42:56guy who goes and checks he loses. So the
- 42:59point is that um direct indirect there's
- 43:02n number of jobs that are going to
- 43:04disappear.
- 43:05So it sounds very scary but at the same
- 43:07time
- 43:09um it's also an opportunity.
- 43:12This is a standard
- 43:14you know dialogue which we have been
- 43:16hearing for a long time. But again um
- 43:19there's no nothing else to say. This is
- 43:20the reality and there's no other choice
- 43:22as well.
- 43:25when um new technologies were introduced
- 43:28at some point of time in history
- 43:31whatever be it like say steam engine or
- 43:34the television or whatever
- 43:37there were lots of naysayers people who
- 43:40said that this is going to bring in
- 43:41disaster
- 43:43but we survived all that that's true but
- 43:45right now there is a slight difficulty
- 43:48because
- 43:50your thinking capacity your processing
- 43:52power itself is being kind of outsourced
- 43:57Mankind's
- 44:00brain is being outsourced in a way like
- 44:03this is this is now part of my brain. I
- 44:06carry this mobile and half my memory is
- 44:09actually inside this. Not half probably
- 44:11more than that.
- 44:15I don't memorize numbers.
- 44:18I don't memorize most things nowadays
- 44:21because I know this is there. So it
- 44:22works like a you know RAM and ROM system
- 44:25for a computer. You you don't carry the
- 44:28entire information on the you know hard
- 44:31disk that's processing it for your
- 44:33efficiency for better processing. You
- 44:35store away the memory right you don't
- 44:37you don't make use of it every now and
- 44:39then.
- 44:41So the challenge really is whether you
- 44:43have the capacity to use smartphones.
- 44:45You have the capacity to use these tools
- 44:48to remain
- 44:51in contention.
- 44:53When you didn't have these tools, your
- 44:56IQ, if you had an IQ of 100 and above,
- 44:59you were considered to be smart. You're
- 45:02good enough to maneuver the world and
- 45:05get success.
- 45:07But now if you try to compute your
- 45:11intelligence with all the tools
- 45:12available with you, I guess it will be
- 45:15more than 300 400 something maybe
- 45:17because the capacity that you get with
- 45:19all these tools is much higher
- 45:23and that's why there was a news I'm sure
- 45:27you must have read that as well uh in
- 45:30Madras IIT one of these professors his
- 45:34test or his um examinations ations where
- 45:37not lab situations but real situations
- 45:40where he would allow the students to
- 45:43make use of any tool it's not just open
- 45:46book system but open technology you make
- 45:48use of chat GPT or cloud or whatever and
- 45:53then give me the answers because the
- 45:55questions which you would be facing in
- 45:57real life have to be answered with real
- 45:59life tools
- 46:02imagining that you are going to solve
- 46:04everything using your own brain is
- 46:07actually a fake kind of combat
- 46:11preparedness. If you're going to prepare
- 46:13for a real combat, you have to have real
- 46:15experience, right? So that's what this
- 46:17this professor was trying to do. So
- 46:19precisely the same thing is happening
- 46:21even now here. Uh if you deny
- 46:24technology, you'll live in some other
- 46:27capsule, a time capsule, and you'll be
- 46:29shocked when you come out of it. You'll
- 46:30be really shocked.
- 46:33Let me ask something. Ask you guys. Um,
- 46:37which is the fastest animal
- 46:40on earth? Fastest animal on earth?
- 46:43Cheetah, right? Cheetah. Anything other
- 46:46than cheetah?
- 46:51Any bird?
- 46:56Falcon.
- 46:58Okay. on on ground it's cheetah right
- 47:02agree
- 47:03>> yes
- 47:04>> but no it's actually not cheetah it's a
- 47:06man man can go in a train it can go man
- 47:09can go on a flight in a rocket much much
- 47:12faster than cheetah it's just that we
- 47:15know how to make use of the tools
- 47:18cheetah is by nature the fastest animal
- 47:22of course on on earth but then we have
- 47:25overtaken cheetah long
- 47:28The eagle is supposed to have very good
- 47:30eyes. It will it will catch hold of
- 47:32something kilometers up above in the sky
- 47:35and still catch hold of a small little
- 47:37prey on the ground. So it's eyesight is
- 47:39supposed to be far better than ours. But
- 47:42you know we have mastered better you
- 47:45know telescope technology to you know
- 47:48watch things that are even in outer
- 47:49space. So who has a better eyesight?
- 47:52Actually it's mankind. So basically we
- 47:55have been using tools one after the
- 47:57other to overcome
- 48:00and compete and succeed in this world
- 48:04and now the latest tool of course is AI
- 48:07which has make which has kind of made
- 48:10our you know brain power infinite
- 48:14literally infinite skills which you till
- 48:17now didn't have you suddenly become a
- 48:19superman you are able to do all sort of
- 48:21things you you are able to write poems,
- 48:24you are able to sing songs, you you can
- 48:27give music, you can compute things that
- 48:31never never ever you could have earlier
- 48:34thought of doing.
- 48:35So a few years back when I used to give
- 48:38a talk somewhere I used to say uh you
- 48:41know literally everything is going to be
- 48:42taken over by AI the human element the
- 48:45human part what's going to remain is art
- 48:48culture and all that stuff but you know
- 48:51I'm shocked nowadays that uh now AI is
- 48:54taking over art and culture first
- 48:57music poem these are the things that AI
- 49:00is being used to you know deliver
- 49:03results first now more than research
- 49:05search. So nowhere, nobody I mean
- 49:09there's no one who is absolutely safe
- 49:12and secure from this so-called threat of
- 49:14AI.
- 49:16And why this is different from other
- 49:18technologies is that you see other
- 49:20technologies were always under us. It
- 49:22those were just tools which we could
- 49:24control and we could manage. But um with
- 49:27with this AI thing coming in your
- 49:30processing part itself is going out and
- 49:32how it's being processed so long as it
- 49:34is a tool under us it's still okay but
- 49:36now when it becomes autonomous if it
- 49:38starts uh it need not actually start
- 49:41thinking on its own it can actually
- 49:43start influencing us
- 49:46controlling us managing us without us
- 49:49coming to know of it
- 49:52literally without coming to know of it
- 49:53because recently I read um a news where
- 49:57I think it was KPMG or some other very
- 50:00reputed consultancy who had prepared um
- 50:04report on AI
- 50:07and it was prepared using AI
- 50:10and AI hallucinated in it
- 50:14which overstated the good effects of AI
- 50:16in it and we believed it.
- 50:20So AI is actually telling us that AI is
- 50:22very good and we took that as a you know
- 50:25report on KPMG and we read that and we
- 50:27trusted it and we started thinking what
- 50:29AI wanted us to think. Now this is
- 50:32actually scary and we had different
- 50:34verticles of you know AI focused AI
- 50:38narrow AI an AI that could create song
- 50:43an AI that could um do calculation an AI
- 50:46that could
- 50:48paint create visual representation
- 50:51videos whatever. Now the the the
- 50:56challenge or threat or whatever which we
- 50:58are facing is the integration of all
- 50:59this. If there is a single entity that's
- 51:02able to do all this and we try to mimic
- 51:06a human being, we proudly believe that
- 51:09creating a humanoid would be a great
- 51:11achievement and all that. But that's in
- 51:14a way scary. Why? Because I I'm sure you
- 51:18you would also agree to this point that
- 51:21if there is an entity other than human
- 51:23beings
- 51:25who is in charge of the thinking or or
- 51:28the intellectual part the intelligent
- 51:31part who is controlling the things on
- 51:34this earth on this planet who is
- 51:38autonomous from us
- 51:40whom we cannot predict whom we cannot
- 51:42really understand.
- 51:44It means that you are gone. You are
- 51:46done. Your game is over.
- 51:51And that is actually going to happen
- 51:52because see uh earlier we could not
- 51:55human beings could not be defeated by
- 51:58technology when you play chess. But that
- 52:02was long back.
- 52:04Long back. Now you cannot beat a
- 52:06computer playing chess. The computer
- 52:09knows better chess. There are AI um
- 52:13initially AI used to lose when you play
- 52:16chess not the computer program but the
- 52:18AI tools which were being generated it
- 52:22could not succeed against grand masters
- 52:24but now AI is also able to do that. Now
- 52:27what does that actually mean? It
- 52:28actually means that when I make a move
- 52:32on the chess board,
- 52:35I do a calculation what my opponent is
- 52:38going to do, his move, I should be able
- 52:40to, you know, double guess. That's how
- 52:44you win chess. You, you know, at least
- 52:475, 10, 15, 16, 17 moves ahead of the
- 52:50opponent. That's how you win.
- 52:52Now we have reached a stage that you
- 52:54cannot predict the move of the AI
- 52:58opponent.
- 53:00If you cannot predict the move of the
- 53:02opponent, it means it is autonomous.
- 53:05It's able to outsmart you.
- 53:08Imagine a humanoid which is completely
- 53:11capable of outsmarting you and taking
- 53:13its own decisions.
- 53:17It's okay so long as it is behaving well
- 53:21with us. It doesn't have a problem with
- 53:24us.
- 53:26If you have a scenario where
- 53:30it stands against you
- 53:32or it is
- 53:34ethically not aligned with what we think
- 53:37is right, it could be a problem. Of
- 53:42course we have had human beings also who
- 53:44have taken you know gross ethically
- 53:47wrong positions. You have had Hitler,
- 53:50you have had Muslini, you had so many
- 53:52dictators who would kill people.
- 53:55Ruthless dictators
- 53:58but all of them were mortals. So there
- 54:03was a guarantee that at some point of
- 54:05time this chap will die
- 54:09with these new uh emerging AI humanoid
- 54:13tools which could also theoretically go
- 54:17along these lines.
- 54:20Imagine a AI Hitler
- 54:22whom you cannot switch off. That is the
- 54:25real challenge. Now why I'm I you know
- 54:29you know scaring you with all this.
- 54:31Basically the point I'm trying to drive
- 54:33home is that
- 54:36a world that is going to be controlled
- 54:39run by uh technology and you guys are
- 54:43going to contribute in that because
- 54:45except for maybe environmental science
- 54:48who have some role in you know catching
- 54:50hold of the rains and stopping this kind
- 54:52of uh you know progress but otherwise
- 54:54rest rest is actually going to really
- 54:57contribute to this kind of a world
- 55:02where we don't know where we are headed.
- 55:04That's why I said this is a generation
- 55:06for the first time where you're going to
- 55:08step into a world that is completely
- 55:10unpredictable.
- 55:11There are so many theories that say that
- 55:13by 2045 you could have the AI completely
- 55:16taking over and still we even then we
- 55:18may not know probably it's already taken
- 55:21over and we still don't know.
- 55:24This is not just theory these are actual
- 55:26real
- 55:28you know facts.
- 55:30Now we have this job losses happening
- 55:33right now right in front of us in Kochi
- 55:34itself we have had a major company
- 55:37firing so many people overnight this is
- 55:41going to become a routine
- 55:45so what do you do the the summon summary
- 55:48is that
- 55:50we have to keep adapting ourselves
- 55:54we can't compete in
- 55:56a kind of you know um run along with AI
- 56:00hoping that we can defeat AI.
- 56:04The fastest animal
- 56:07is not cheetah because we stopped racing
- 56:10with cheetah.
- 56:13We had horses. We did not run along
- 56:16horses.
- 56:17We chose to ride the horses.
- 56:21Then you move faster than horses as
- 56:22well, you know.
- 56:25Similarly, you you you don't need to try
- 56:27to compete with AI. You have to ride the
- 56:29AI. You have to get on the saddle and
- 56:33make use of the tools, whatever
- 56:35technology is available to you and try
- 56:38to survive. It's a survival game that's
- 56:41going to happen.
- 56:44Our generation was very lucky in that
- 56:46sense. The technologies that we
- 56:47experienced,
- 56:49the innovations that happened in our uh
- 56:52generation mostly made life easy for us.
- 56:57This is one technology that's going to
- 56:58make life life a bit difficult for you,
- 57:02challenging for you and totally
- 57:04disruptive.
- 57:06In Keralam, we don't discuss this.
- 57:10We have other things to discuss. Our
- 57:13generally our media, our you know
- 57:14mainstream discussions, discourse is all
- 57:16on something else. But this is the harsh
- 57:20reality that's going to hit us like a
- 57:22tsunami. One fine day it hits us and
- 57:24then we don't know where we are headed.
- 57:26So we have to be prepared.
- 57:30Don't don't be happy with one skill set.
- 57:35Please don't be happy with one skill
- 57:36set.
- 57:39That was a century old strategy in in UK
- 57:43and in England in the last century. For
- 57:46instance, if you if you were a good
- 57:48cobbler,
- 57:49your life is set. If you knew how to um
- 57:54you know tailor a good coat,
- 57:57your life is one. Not just you, your
- 58:00next generation is also taken care of.
- 58:03A good shoe maker,
- 58:05a good tailor,
- 58:07a good painter, these were more than
- 58:10enough. If you knew how to make a very
- 58:12good shoe, your next generation is also
- 58:16continuing in the same profession and
- 58:17you are still okay. There's nothing to
- 58:19worry. But now
- 58:22leave alone you know generations even in
- 58:25one generation in one life you cannot
- 58:27survive with one skill. You may know one
- 58:30particular skill. you studied something
- 58:32and suddenly you'll find that it's taken
- 58:34over by something else
- 58:36it could get finished as well that
- 58:39whatever product I don't know whether
- 58:41you heard of something called pager
- 58:45we were lucky to see a pager as well
- 58:46there's something called pager in which
- 58:48messages would come it's like SMS
- 58:53an equipment tool just to receive SMS
- 58:58I'm told it's still popular in Japan for
- 59:01whatever reason, some strange reason,
- 59:02but otherwise this
- 59:05equipment completely become redundant
- 59:08the moment a usual mobile phone started
- 59:11providing the facility of providing a
- 59:14SMS.
- 59:15Now this usual mobile phone this GSM
- 59:19phone which we are using nowadays this
- 59:22is also very soon going to be extent
- 59:25because technologically we have far
- 59:27surpassed that we don't need uh this GSM
- 59:31bandwidth for communication right now we
- 59:33have this voice over internet protocol
- 59:35which is more than enough I think most
- 59:36of us nowadays do calls on WhatsApp or
- 59:39some other tool because clarity is
- 59:42better there we we the calls don't get
- 59:45dropped and all that. Still we continue
- 59:47with the old thing only because we want
- 59:49to we want to ensure that the jobs are
- 59:53not lost in the technology in the
- 59:55telecom sector because all the telecom
- 59:57companies have invested heavily in
- 1:00:00procuring these licenses. So just to
- 1:00:02safeguard them and their uh you know
- 1:00:05employees we are still continuing with
- 1:00:07the with this age-old technology.
- 1:00:11It's only a matter of time. Some point
- 1:00:13of time that will also change. So change
- 1:00:16is inevitable. You just have to be
- 1:00:18prepared to uh mount the next best horse
- 1:00:22whichever is available to you. Move on
- 1:00:24from one skill to another skill. Don't
- 1:00:27be a cobbler or a tailor or a you know
- 1:00:29whatever throughout your life. You will
- 1:00:32have to keep shifting in between. So the
- 1:00:34biggest biggest talent that you require
- 1:00:38is not what is taught in your college in
- 1:00:41your university.
- 1:00:44Nothing that has been taught to you so
- 1:00:46far is going to save you. What will help
- 1:00:48you is adaptability.
- 1:00:52Adaptability to shift from one thing to
- 1:00:55another and accepting reality.
- 1:00:59Acceptance is very important
- 1:01:02nowadays. The Gen Z, Gen Alpha, you
- 1:01:05know, generation, they have a serious
- 1:01:07problem with
- 1:01:09tolerance, accepting things. You know,
- 1:01:12failure is also something which you need
- 1:01:13to accept. With the kind of world that
- 1:01:16you're going to, you know, see, witness,
- 1:01:19be part of, you're going to fail very
- 1:01:22often. You'll not see a world when you
- 1:01:24will always be succeeding and, you know,
- 1:01:26flying high and no, you'll have lots of
- 1:01:29issues. You'll hit roadblocks many
- 1:01:32times. You'll have to take turns. You'll
- 1:01:34have to uh change decisions. You might
- 1:01:36have to go through a lot of disruptive
- 1:01:39things in the coming few decades and
- 1:01:42after that maybe some sort of uh you
- 1:01:44know settlement would happen. But the
- 1:01:46skill which you really need would be
- 1:01:50emotional quotient because to go through
- 1:01:53these kind of you know challenges you
- 1:01:55need to be totally totally calm composed
- 1:02:00and not upset with the scenario that's
- 1:02:02going to hit you one fine day and
- 1:02:05adaptability comes from that.
- 1:02:07Adaptability always starts with
- 1:02:09acceptance. If you face a scenario where
- 1:02:13your job is gone or whatever you
- 1:02:15studied, it's actually very shocking
- 1:02:16very very think of think of a scenario
- 1:02:18where you studied a course,
- 1:02:21you spend three, four, five years into
- 1:02:24it and suddenly you are told that you
- 1:02:25are not required that skill is not
- 1:02:27required at all.
- 1:02:30His life or her life just imagine you
- 1:02:33you should think in their perspective
- 1:02:34only then you will understand how
- 1:02:36difficult or how shocking it could be.
- 1:02:39Now these are all things which could
- 1:02:41happen in your life as well
- 1:02:45on a graduation day when you guys are
- 1:02:47all so happy
- 1:02:49to deliver such a sad or a pessimistic
- 1:02:53uh story before you. It's my duty.
- 1:02:57If I don't tell you this uh I I'll be
- 1:03:00doing a disservice. So kindly take this
- 1:03:03positively
- 1:03:05and please drive home the single point
- 1:03:08that you need
- 1:03:11adaptability
- 1:03:13and for adaptability the biggest two
- 1:03:15things which you need in this AI world
- 1:03:18is actually power of comprehension.
- 1:03:21Power of comprehension and emotional
- 1:03:24quotient. power of comprehension because
- 1:03:28ultimately it all boils down to
- 1:03:30prompting or giving instructions
- 1:03:32whatever
- 1:03:34that requires comprehension power. You
- 1:03:37need to understand what you have to tell
- 1:03:39him and this requires comprehension
- 1:03:41power. Even today um know there are few
- 1:03:44exams which focus a lot on
- 1:03:47comprehension.
- 1:03:48comprehension you know don't
- 1:03:50underestimate a comprehension test which
- 1:03:52is given to you in class classes when
- 1:03:54it's not just English uh understanding
- 1:03:56it's about intellectual you know
- 1:03:58connecting the points connecting the
- 1:04:00dots and deriving um you know uh
- 1:04:02conclusion from it only then you can
- 1:04:04give the nest next instruction so
- 1:04:07comprehension is one key point train the
- 1:04:10kids train yourself keep updating on
- 1:04:12comprehension power
- 1:04:15second is emotional quotient power
- 1:04:17because without that you will not be
- 1:04:18able to maneuver the emotional, you
- 1:04:21know, maze through which you'll be taken
- 1:04:24through.
- 1:04:26On that note, I'll I I'll see
- 1:04:30there is a way out. There's definitely a
- 1:04:31way out. It's not a pessimistic or, you
- 1:04:34know, doomsday kind of a thing. There's
- 1:04:35a positive lots of positive things to be
- 1:04:37done. Especially since you guys are in
- 1:04:39science, you will really appreciate the
- 1:04:41kind of progress that's going to happen.
- 1:04:44the cutting edge technology discoveries.
- 1:04:47For example, the other day one of my
- 1:04:49friends who is in um uh vaccine
- 1:04:51research, he was telling me the vaccine
- 1:04:53research cycle which used to take more
- 1:04:55than 10 15 years, they're gradually
- 1:04:58closing down. Now it's you know the kind
- 1:05:01of trials which you needed to you know
- 1:05:03confirm a particular vaccine or a
- 1:05:05medicine it's coming down from 15 to now
- 1:05:08five
- 1:05:10because which are the roots or you know
- 1:05:13lots of compounds which they try to find
- 1:05:15out. So uh there are maybe 100
- 1:05:17possibilities of these which are the you
- 1:05:20know routes through which research
- 1:05:22should go which are the paths through
- 1:05:25which you get better result this can be
- 1:05:28predicted and suggested and advised by
- 1:05:30AI tools. So that's how uh the time in
- 1:05:33this kind of research is coming down. So
- 1:05:36the good things are also going to
- 1:05:38happen. You are going to be part of
- 1:05:39that. That's also something you can look
- 1:05:41forward to. But uh don't forget to you
- 1:05:45know remember that you need the
- 1:05:47comprehension power and the EQ side and
- 1:05:51EQ side is more important because that's
- 1:05:53seated in the frontal lobe which makes
- 1:05:56you a human being no matter what AI
- 1:05:58comes that being human is most important
- 1:06:02and what defines being human it's it's
- 1:06:04it's it's a when did we become civilized
- 1:06:07that that's a fundamental question there
- 1:06:09is there is a theory that human beings
- 1:06:12became became civilized
- 1:06:14at some point of time in history when we
- 1:06:18discovered um the skeletal remains of a
- 1:06:21old you know old woman. Okay, this old
- 1:06:25woman her skeletal remains were
- 1:06:27excavated and they discovered that her
- 1:06:30femur the thigh bone was fractured.
- 1:06:34Thigh bone was fractured but it got
- 1:06:36joined later on. Now what does that
- 1:06:39mean?
- 1:06:41Have you ever seen a a deer or a
- 1:06:44elephant or a giraffe walking around
- 1:06:47with crutches or a bandage or anything?
- 1:06:50Have you seen a disabled animal
- 1:06:53in the forest? We don't see that. There
- 1:06:56is this pseudocience kind of a theory
- 1:06:59which says see they are all so healthy
- 1:07:01because they're eating natural food and
- 1:07:03all that. So they're so happy in the
- 1:07:05forest. So there's no disability
- 1:07:07nothing. You see human beings people are
- 1:07:09born blind. People are blind born with
- 1:07:12issues. It's not that. It's just that
- 1:07:14the disabled are consumed. They are just
- 1:07:16eaten up. They don't survive. Human
- 1:07:20beings were also like this at some point
- 1:07:22of time in history. If you were injured,
- 1:07:25you were left
- 1:07:27the you were just a prey. But at some
- 1:07:30point of time in history,
- 1:07:32we learned
- 1:07:34that our brethren should be taken care
- 1:07:37of. So that's when uh a woman whose
- 1:07:41femur was fractured was taken care of.
- 1:07:46She was nurtured. She was brought back
- 1:07:47to life. That's why you got a skeletal
- 1:07:51remain of a woman with a fused. It was
- 1:07:54healed. It was a healed femur. You know
- 1:07:56that if you those who have aged parents
- 1:07:59and all you know if you have a femur
- 1:08:01injury it's very difficult to come back
- 1:08:03to life if you're very old uh your
- 1:08:06movement is completely gone with a
- 1:08:08broken thigh you can't move around.
- 1:08:12So when you get senior we always advise
- 1:08:16don't fall in a bathroom. If the femur
- 1:08:19gets broken you it's very difficult to
- 1:08:20come back to normal life if you are old.
- 1:08:23So you had in history a woman whose
- 1:08:26femur was broken much earlier. It got
- 1:08:29fused which means she was taken care of
- 1:08:31by other human beings. And people say
- 1:08:33that is the point when human beings
- 1:08:37became civilized because we learned to
- 1:08:40take care of others who are with us.
- 1:08:42That is the human element which we
- 1:08:44should be able to propagate. That is
- 1:08:48what's going to help us survive. When
- 1:08:50technology hits us like a tsunami.
- 1:08:52It's we human beings who are going to
- 1:08:54help each other. It's we who will be
- 1:08:57helping the survival. It's like a alien
- 1:09:00invasion in this Hollywood movies when
- 1:09:02human being the human strength comes
- 1:09:04together and we make survival happen. We
- 1:09:07save the world. We save the world.
- 1:09:08Right? That's a usual ending for all
- 1:09:10Hollywood movies. But that is a reality.
- 1:09:14So how human beings can work together
- 1:09:16that's by empathy. That's by compassion.
- 1:09:18Unless you feel the pain of another
- 1:09:20person, you cannot uh you cannot be a
- 1:09:23human being. And it's natural for us.
- 1:09:25Our frontal lobe has something called
- 1:09:27the mirror neurons. So these mirror
- 1:09:29neurons help us feel the pain of another
- 1:09:32person. If you if you see someone with a
- 1:09:34a finger, a prick here and a slight bit
- 1:09:39of blood, the moment you see that, you
- 1:09:42get a bit of pain here. You feel for
- 1:09:44that. It's you know it's not your hand
- 1:09:46but you get that pain. That is the level
- 1:09:48of empathy and compassion that is
- 1:09:50inbuilt into us. That's our frontal
- 1:09:52lobe. Why did God Almighty put the
- 1:09:55mirror neurons into us to feel the
- 1:09:57compassion of the other person? And when
- 1:09:59we do something to alleviate the pain of
- 1:10:02the other person, what happens in our
- 1:10:04body? That's also very interesting. Our
- 1:10:06body starts producing endorphins
- 1:10:09for the pain of other person. another
- 1:10:11person when we are trying to elevate the
- 1:10:13pain.
- 1:10:16This is the ultimate proof that we have
- 1:10:19been designed in such a way to exhibit
- 1:10:21compassion to help each other. Now we
- 1:10:24have to maintain that core essence to
- 1:10:27distinguish ourselves from the humanoids
- 1:10:29that are going to hit us.
- 1:10:32So kindly try to inculcate
- 1:10:37compassion in your life. That's the last
- 1:10:40thing that's going to save you. Nothing
- 1:10:42else is going to help you. This is the
- 1:10:44last straw.
- 1:10:46Be compassionate.
- 1:10:48Of course, have scientific uh temper. Do
- 1:10:51research. Do understand what's happening
- 1:10:54around you and enjoy and have a fruitful
- 1:10:57good life. This life is just one one
- 1:11:00life. Make most of it. Don't get bogged
- 1:11:03down with just career and all that.
- 1:11:06uh you have been sent to earth this
- 1:11:10planet to enjoy and experience
- 1:11:12everything here. Be a well-rounded
- 1:11:15personality. You can be around as well.
- 1:11:17You can be wellrounded. Still survive.
- 1:11:20Be happy. Don't get into this judgmental
- 1:11:22thing. I think nowadays most most people
- 1:11:24are worried about validation, what other
- 1:11:27people think and all that. Just leave
- 1:11:28that and enjoy your life. Have a
- 1:11:31fruitful life. and and now you're going
- 1:11:33to go out into the big bad world there.
- 1:11:37Be a baddie there also. But please take
- 1:11:40care of yourself, your parents, people
- 1:11:42who have helped you around so far. Uh
- 1:11:44your teachers, those everyone who has
- 1:11:47mentored be have that sense of gratitude
- 1:11:49and all that. These are the usual uh you
- 1:11:52know advice which I can give you nothing
- 1:11:54more than that and I know that I'm
- 1:11:55nobody to give such long advices but I
- 1:11:58really wish from
- 1:12:01you know my deepest uh you know heart
- 1:12:04that uh you know you you all have a
- 1:12:06fruitful life and be happy that is being
- 1:12:11that is the most important thing you
- 1:12:12should be pursuing more than career
- 1:12:15ambition all those things try to find
- 1:12:17happiness in yourself and people around
- 1:12:20you. Thank you so much.
- 1:12:30>> Thank you, sir, for your words of
- 1:12:31wisdom. It was so connected to the real

- 1:12:39graduates will greatly benefit from your
- 1:12:41inspiring words today, learning to

- 1:12:46technological advancements. Thank you,
- 1:12:48sir.
- 1:12:49Next is the moment we have all been
- 1:12:51waiting for, the awards ceremony.

- 1:12:56threshold of new beginnings.
- 1:12:59I'm sure you remember the days when
- 1:13:02assignments and research work piled up,
- 1:13:04when exams and presentations tested more
- 1:13:06than just your knowledge. And yet here
- 1:13:09you are graduating, having conquered
- 1:13:11countless challenges, late night study
- 1:13:14sessions, and research hurdles. So take

- 1:38:43The journey of education is filled with
- 1:38:45memories, challenges and moments of joy.
- 1:38:48Let us now hear from our graduating
- 1:38:50students as they share their
- 1:38:51experiences. I invite Dr. Dr. Safna Sai
- 1:38:55from International School of Photonics
- 1:38:57to share her reflections as a
- 1:38:59representative of the doctoral
- 1:39:00graduates.
- 1:39:13Good afternoon to all. I'm Safna. I'm a
- 1:39:16PhD graduate from International School
- 1:39:18of Autonomics. First of all,
- 1:39:20congratulations to all the graduates
- 1:39:22standing here. I feel proud, honored,
- 1:39:26privileged and humbled having completed
- 1:39:29the doctoral journey successfully. My
- 1:39:31defense was on 2nd of July last year.
- 1:39:35Grateful to the almighty for this jo
- 1:39:37journey. Firstly, I'd like to mention
- 1:39:40the marvel of our lush green campus. I
- 1:39:43was always taken away by the greenery
- 1:39:45and always enjoyed breathing the morning
- 1:39:47fresh air and the night strolls
- 1:39:49throughout campus.
- 1:39:51It actually had a special soothing
- 1:39:53power. Coming to my doctoral journey, my
- 1:39:56work was on three-dimensional photonic
- 1:39:58crystals for manipulating light. These
- 1:40:02are structures actually periodic
- 1:40:04structures that impart beautiful shining
- 1:40:07colors, iridesence that we see on many
- 1:40:10things around us. for examples u the
- 1:40:13skin of butterflies uh the feather of uh
- 1:40:15yeah the feather of butterflies then the
- 1:40:18shells of some beetles then some stones
- 1:40:21and all at this moment I remember a very
- 1:40:25important person in my life all these
- 1:40:26years none else but my guide Dr. Priyos
- 1:40:30I will forever be grateful for having a
- 1:40:33mentor like her. She was more like an
- 1:40:36elder sister for me. I joined for PhD
- 1:40:39with a six-month-old. Leaving my baby
- 1:40:41with my parents and coming for research
- 1:40:44was not that easy for me.
- 1:40:46Adding to that in few months I got
- 1:40:48conceived again and on most days I'd be
- 1:40:51so tired that I might be lying down on
- 1:40:54my table suffering from morning sickness
- 1:40:56and all. How do you pictureize a PhD
- 1:40:59supervisor? I don't know. But mine, she
- 1:41:02comes near me, gently pats me and
- 1:41:05inquire if I was good. At those times,
- 1:41:07all I needed was that. Thank you, ma'am.
- 1:41:11Now I must talk about our department,
- 1:41:14International School of Autonomics, ISP.
- 1:41:16ISP was always welcoming. On behalf of
- 1:41:20all the graduates of ISP, I extend a
- 1:41:22heartfelt thanks to all our legends of
- 1:41:25ISP. Be it the director directors, other
- 1:41:28professors or the non-eing staff all
- 1:41:32were really kind and cooperative. They
- 1:41:34all mentored and supported us immensely
- 1:41:36at different points of our PhD journey.
- 1:41:39This might be the same response from our
- 1:41:41MSE and MTech graduates as well. Also,
- 1:41:45we had wonderful supportive seniors as
- 1:41:48well as juniors. There is, you know, a
- 1:41:51powerful team spirit for ISBNs. Now a
- 1:41:55little bit about my work. Actually the
- 1:41:57major findings of my work always happen
- 1:41:59during the night working hours and I
- 1:42:01must thank my husband and kids for
- 1:42:03letting me work till 11:00 p.m. some
- 1:42:06days. During the final year I used to
- 1:42:09come by 6:30 in the morning for writing
- 1:42:11my thesis and preparing the
- 1:42:12presentations. I must say morning hours
- 1:42:15at ISP was also so serene so productive.
- 1:42:19I must also fondly recall my time at
- 1:42:22Atulia hostel. I was for some for
- 1:42:25initial period I was a day scholar and
- 1:42:27then a hostler and again a day scholar.
- 1:42:29So I must recall my time at Atulia
- 1:42:31hostel our PhD sanctuary.
- 1:42:34It was truly a therapeutic haven from
- 1:42:36the capacious rooms with ample storage
- 1:42:39to the clean washrooms the expansive
- 1:42:41mesh hall and the quiet study spaces.
- 1:42:44I don't know if the Wi-Fi is still
- 1:42:46great, but I must say every memory made
- 1:42:49across this cusat campus will be deeply
- 1:42:52cherished. From the bottom of my heart,
- 1:42:54I extend my deep thanks to all ISPs, all
- 1:42:57CUSATs, all teachers, my family members,
- 1:43:01extended family, my friends, and on
- 1:43:04behalf of all the graduates, all who
- 1:43:06supported us. Thank you.
- 1:43:13>> Thank you Dr. Safna for sharing your
- 1:43:14memorable journey with us. I now invite
- 1:43:17Miss Monal from Department of
- 1:43:19Electronics to share her experience and
- 1:43:21thoughts with us on this special
- 1:43:22occasion.
- 1:43:45Good afternoon to dignitaries on the
- 1:43:47dice, faculty members, proud parents and
- 1:43:50my dear friends. I'm Monal and I'm truly
- 1:43:53honored to stand here today on behalf of
- 1:43:55the Mtech graduating students. I have
- 1:43:58completed my MTech in VLSI and embedded
- 1:44:02systems and it's a privilege to share a
- 1:44:05few thoughts on this memorable occasion.
- 1:44:08Our journey at the department of
- 1:44:10electronics has been much more than
- 1:44:12earning a degree. It has been a journey
- 1:44:14of learning, innovation and personal
- 1:44:17growth. The knowledge we gain through
- 1:44:19our coursework, laboratory sessions,
- 1:44:22projects, seminars and interactions with
- 1:44:25our faculty has prepared us to take on
- 1:44:27new challenges with confidence.
- 1:44:30The department provided us with
- 1:44:32excellent exposure to research, advanced
- 1:44:35technologies and industry oriented
- 1:44:37learning. These opportunities helped us
- 1:44:40bridge the gap between theory and
- 1:44:43practice and give us the confidence to
- 1:44:45pursue our professional goals.
- 1:44:48In particular, Department of Electronics
- 1:44:51participation in the prestigious chip to
- 1:44:54startup program of Ministry of
- 1:44:56Electronics and Information Technology
- 1:44:58Government of India has given us
- 1:45:01exposure to the state-of-the-art VLSI
- 1:45:03tools and to work on hands with advanced
- 1:45:06intelligent embedded boards helping us
- 1:45:09widen our technical expertise and engage
- 1:45:12with real world industry standards long
- 1:45:14before stepping into our professional
- 1:45:16roles. I am grateful to share that I am
- 1:45:20currently working as the member of
- 1:45:21technical staff at Indip Labs private
- 1:45:24limited and many of my classmates have
- 1:45:26also secured positions in reputed
- 1:45:29organizations or are pursuing higher
- 1:45:31degrees and research. These achievements
- 1:45:35reflect the strong foundation laid by
- 1:45:37our department. Today's convocation is
- 1:45:41not just the celebration of receiving
- 1:45:42our degree. It's the celebration of our
- 1:45:45hard work, perseverance, friendships,
- 1:45:47and the unwavering support of our
- 1:45:50teachers and families. As we step into
- 1:45:53the new chapter of our lives, we carry
- 1:45:56us with the knowledge, values, and
- 1:45:58memories that Kusat has gifted us today.
- 1:46:02Uh on behalf of the Mtech students, I
- 1:46:04express my heartfelt gratitude to our
- 1:46:07faculty members, parents, department of
- 1:46:09electronics and the organizers of this
- 1:46:12event for their constant support and for
- 1:46:14making this convocation ceremony a truly
- 1:46:17memorable occasion. Thank you and I wish
- 1:46:20everyone all the very best for the
- 1:46:23future.
- 1:46:29Thank you Miss Manal for sharing your
- 1:46:31heartfelt words. Now I invite Miss Anus
- 1:46:35from School of Environmental Studies to
- 1:46:37share a few words with us on our
- 1:46:39experiences as a graduating student.
- 1:46:52Good afternoon everyone who are present
- 1:46:54here. our respected uh chief guest sir

- 1:47:35deeply honored to stand here on behalf
- 1:47:38of the graduating students of the school
- 1:47:40of environmental studies reflecting on
- 1:47:42our transformative two-year journey. Our
- 1:47:45school was established in 1933 with a
- 1:47:48small number of students and teachers
- 1:47:51has today grown into a vibrant family of
- 1:47:54more than 150 MSE students, integrated
- 1:47:57MSE students and research scholars. The
- 1:47:59MSE environmental science and technology
- 1:48:01program is truly unique. A
- 1:48:03multiddisciplinary program that bridges
- 1:48:06the gap between our natural world and
- 1:48:08the complex technological landscape.
- 1:48:10Through its diverse curriculum, we
- 1:48:12didn't just study science. We learned
- 1:48:14how to protect life and environment. It
- 1:48:17has introduced us to the basic science
- 1:48:19of environment physics, chemistry,
- 1:48:21biology, microbiology and biotechnology
- 1:48:24which then progress to advanced diverse
- 1:48:26areas related to sustainable
- 1:48:28development, ESG frameworks, green
- 1:48:31design management, GIS, remote sensing,
- 1:48:34pollution control, climate change,
- 1:48:36toxicology, environmental impact
- 1:48:38assessment and advanced water and waste
- 1:48:41treatment technologies. This extensive
- 1:48:43curriculum has provided us with both the
- 1:48:45scientific knowledge and practical
- 1:48:47skills preparing us to address today's
- 1:48:49environmental challenges. Our education
- 1:48:52wasn't just confined to four walls.
- 1:48:54Through valuable field exposure,
- 1:48:56educational field visits, rigorous
- 1:48:58laboratory training, internships,
- 1:49:00seminars, and research projects. The
- 1:49:03department taught us to step out of the
- 1:49:05classroom and look into the real world.
- 1:49:07These experiences helped us connect
- 1:49:09theory with practical applications and
- 1:49:12enhanced our professional skills and
- 1:49:14confidence. I want to express our most
- 1:49:16sincere gratitude to our director Dr.
- 1:49:19Sidrai Dvi Priya ma'am, our dedicated
- 1:49:21coordinators Arun S who guided our
- 1:49:24foundational first year and Krishna Moan

- 1:49:31for their constant guidance and
- 1:49:33encouragement. My heartful thanks also
- 1:49:35to all our faculty members, research
- 1:49:38scholars, staff and my incredible
- 1:49:40classmates who made this journey
- 1:49:42memorable. At this auspicious moment, I
- 1:49:45would also like to thank Kuchin

- 1:52:11Devices, Kuchin University of Science
- 1:52:13and Technology.
- 1:52:16Welcome to this momentous day.
- 1:52:21Standing here in front of you as the
- 1:52:24dean of faculty of technology
- 1:52:29looking out at the sea of exceptional
- 1:52:33minds I am filled with an overwhelming
- 1:52:37sense of pride.
- 1:52:39Today you are not just celebrating
- 1:52:42the completion of the degree. We are
- 1:52:46celebrating the spark of innovation
- 1:52:50that each of you carries into the world.
- 1:52:54The power of light and charge.
- 1:52:57When you think about it, the world is
- 1:53:00shaped by two fundamental forces that
- 1:53:04you have spent years mastering that is
- 1:53:08electrons and photons.
- 1:53:11To our dear electronics graduates, you
- 1:53:14are the architects of the modern world.
- 1:53:17You took the cows of electrical charge
- 1:53:21and harnessed it into logic,
- 1:53:25computing, and connectivity.
- 1:53:28You understand the invisible pulse that
- 1:53:32powers our global infrastructures.
- 1:53:36To our photonic graduates, you are the
- 1:53:38masters of light.
- 1:53:41From fiber optic configurations to an
- 1:53:45advanced quantum
- 1:53:48imaging, you have learned to bend,
- 1:53:55manipulate and guide the fastest thing
- 1:53:59in the universe to solve our human
- 1:54:02problems.
- 1:54:04Separately, your fields are
- 1:54:06revolutionary, but combined, you
- 1:54:08represent the cutting edge of human
- 1:54:11progress.
- 1:54:14The intersection of electronics and
- 1:54:16photonics is where the future lives.
- 1:54:20Whether that's in quantum computing,
- 1:54:23sustainable energy, or life-saving
- 1:54:26medical devices,
- 1:54:28you are the ones who will make the next
- 1:54:30generation of technology faster,
- 1:54:33smarter, and more luminous.
- 1:54:37To our environmental studies graduates,
- 1:54:40you are the concerns and the guardians
- 1:54:43of our planet.
- 1:54:45You have studied the delicate balances
- 1:54:48of our planet, the complexities of
- 1:54:51ecosystems
- 1:54:52and the
- 1:54:54urgent necessity of sustainability.
- 1:55:02You understand the progress cannot came
- 1:55:06at the cost of our home. Your voice and
- 1:55:12your science are what will ensure that
- 1:55:14humanity has a thriving world to pass
- 1:55:16down to the next generation.
- 1:55:20And to the lawn member from the
- 1:55:23center for nanomaterials
- 1:55:26and you should have understood that
- 1:55:31the greatness of small the impact of
- 1:55:34small things which will bring to our
- 1:55:36lives and which will be changing our
- 1:55:39lives in this universe.
- 1:55:43Then your journey here wasn't just
- 1:55:46mastering Maxwell's equations,
- 1:55:49semiconductor physics or complex circuit
- 1:55:52systems. It was about resilience.
- 1:55:56You spent countless late nights
- 1:55:59debugging code that refused to run,
- 1:56:02troubleshooting circuits that wouldn't
- 1:56:04behave, and aligning optical setups
- 1:56:07where a single millimeter made all the
- 1:56:11difference.
- 1:56:13The moments of frustration and the
- 1:56:15ultimate breakthroughs
- 1:56:17taught you something far more valuable
- 1:56:19than technical theory
- 1:56:22that taught you how to think, how to
- 1:56:25pres how to preserve
- 1:56:28and how to innovate.
- 1:56:32The true measure of your education is
- 1:56:34not just the knowledge you have
- 1:56:37acquired, but how you use the knowledge
- 1:56:40to illuminate the corners of our world
- 1:56:44and solve its most pressing challenges.
- 1:56:49As you step out of these halls into that
- 1:56:52of the industry into the research labs
- 1:56:55or other entrepreneurial ventures,
- 1:56:58remember that you carry a great
- 1:57:01responsibility.
- 1:57:03Technology is a powerful tool and you
- 1:57:07are its new stewards.
- 1:57:10Use your expertise to build a world that
- 1:57:13is more connected,
- 1:57:15more sustainable, and more equitable.
- 1:57:20Never lose, never lose that curiosity
- 1:57:23that brought to you to this campus in
- 1:57:26the first place.
- 1:57:29Stay bold, keep questioning, and keep
- 1:57:32creating.
