  56. 1:57art show. Like [music] [ __ ] I am the
  57. 1:59[ __ ] walking to the gallery like I'm the
  58. 2:02captain now. They want to track them
  59. 2:03down. I earn my stripes. I got my
  60. 2:05[music] caffeine down. Used to think

  62. 2:08the time. Now I walk up in the NPR like
  63. 2:11all of this is mine. I'm
  64. 2:12unapologetically myself. I won't

  73. 2:27stopping. I used to be atheist back in
  74. 2:28the day I was getting a praise without
  75. 2:30no profit. Huh. Look at me now. I got a
  76. 2:32hit on my hand like Chris Brown. Walking

  78. 2:35the year that you about to find out
  79. 2:37[ __ ]
  80. 2:38>> [music]
  81. 2:39>> Woah. That's why I walk I walk I

  87. 2:52walk into the gallery like [ __ ] [music]
  88. 2:54I am the art show. I walk into the
  89. 2:56gallery like [ __ ] I am the art show.
  90. 2:58Like [music] [ __ ] I am the art show.
  91. 3:00Like [ __ ] I am the [ __ ] I am the
  92. 3:03Can y'all make some noise for this band
  93. 3:04[music] one time?
  94. 3:07We got J Analog and Tomahawk [music]

  109. 3:42And I'm need y'all to make so [music] so
  110. 3:44much noise. This is the man that has
  111. 3:46musically directed every one of these
  112. 3:47submissions. On keys we got Kynton Gray
  113. 3:50ladies and gentlemen.
  114. 3:51>> [music]
  115. 3:59>> Oh, [ __ ] I'm I'm Cameron McCloud. Hey,
  116. 4:00y'all.
  117. 4:03>> [cheering and applause]
  118. 4:05>> Um
  119. 4:07So,
  120. 4:08there's a few rules to a Cure for
  121. 4:10Paranoia show. We don't have time to go
  122. 4:12through all of them, but I am just going
  123. 4:13to go through like the golden one real
  124. 4:15cool real quick, if that's cool.
  125. 4:16Everybody do me a favor, look to your
  126. 4:18left
  127. 4:19and look to your right.
  128. 4:21And then we're going to run it back cuz
  129. 4:22I know some of y'all ain't look the
  130. 4:23right way.
  131. 4:24I saw I saw it. It's okay.
  132. 4:25Everybody look to your left.
  133. 4:27Look to your right again.
  134. 4:29Look to your left. And your right one
  135. 4:30more time. And realize that wasn't
  136. 4:32either one of the [ __ ] looking
  137. 4:33at you, right?
  138. 4:34So,
  139. 4:36the whole point of a Cure for Paranoia
  140. 4:37show is to understand that ain't nobody
  141. 4:39thinking about you like you thinking
  142. 4:40about you. Amen?
  143. 4:42>> [cheering]
  144. 4:44>> That's that's rule number one. So, if
  145. 4:46you want to jump around, if you want to
  146. 4:47dance, if you want to hoop, holler, do
  147. 4:49it. If you want to speak in tongues,
  148. 4:52>> [laughter]
  149. 4:52>> then let's just form a circle around
  150. 4:54that person. We don't
  151. 4:56We don't want to disrupt the flow of the
  152. 4:57spirit in this room. Amen?
  153. 4:59Amen. With that being said,
  154. 5:01everybody say left brain.
  155. 5:02>> Left brain.
  156. 5:03>> Everybody say right brain.
  157. 5:04>> Right brain.
  158. 5:05>> Everybody go left brain, right brain.
  159. 5:07>> Left brain, right brain.
  160. 5:08>> Everybody go left brain, right brain, no
  161. 5:09brain.
  162. 5:10>> Left brain, right brain, no brain.
  163. 5:11>> Everybody go left brain, right brain, no
  164. 5:12brain.
  165. 5:13>> Left brain, right brain, no brain.
  166. 5:14>> Everybody go left brain, right brain, no
  167. 5:15brain.
  168. 5:16>> Left brain, right brain, no brain.
  169. 5:18>> Left brain, right brain, no brain. I I
  170. 5:19lost my mind, I'm not complaining. Go.
  171. 5:26Wow. Everybody go left brain, [music]
  172. 5:27right brain, no brain.
  173. 5:28>> Left brain, right brain, no brain.
  174. 5:30>> Left brain, right brain, no brain. I I
  175. 5:31lost my mind, I'm not not I got my beats
  176. 5:34on in the gym. I got my beats off
  177. 5:35YouTube. That's what you taught when you
  178. 5:37came to the ham. Look at all the wall
  179. 5:38got a screw loose. About to drop a whole
  180. 5:40tape made of tight [music] beats. I
  181. 5:41don't like your song cuz I like me.
  182. 5:42That's what a t-shirt contest times
  183. 5:43ripped out his shirt. Y'all put on a
  184. 5:44white tee. I don't write no songs, I'm a
  185. 5:46lefty. Got a ghost writer with me like
  186. 5:48Nick Cage. [music] I'm right my wrongs
  187. 5:49with my left brain. I'm not gay no more,
  188. 5:50I'm insane. Two of us a white man with a
  189. 5:52no brain. [music] I'm a monster alive in
  190. 5:54my own name. I'm falling in love with a
  191. 5:55monster brain. Tryna buy a double 07 not
  192. 5:57J Leopard. [ __ ] sorry. Left brain,
  193. 5:59right brain, no brain. [music]
  194. 6:02Left brain, right brain, no brainer. I
  195. 6:03lost my mind I complain and go Left
  196. 6:05[music] brain, right brain, no brain.
  197. 6:08Left brain, right brain, no brainer. I
  198. 6:09lost my mind
  199. 6:11Left, right brain going back and forth.
  200. 6:12>> [music]
  201. 6:12>> Brain split down to the apple core. Such
  202. 6:14a piece of ego, I'm a savage. Got two
  203. 6:16wolves in me, I'mma feed the bad [ __ ]
  204. 6:17I'm a big bad wolf, y'all I'm about to
  205. 6:19blow. Soon as I saw a hot mess I had to
  206. 6:20go. Not not joke, I'll be kinda lame
  207. 6:22sometimes, but I can't change no more my
  208. 6:23[music] chemical. When I was in the
  209. 6:24third grade, I thought that I was
  210. 6:25straight.
  211. 6:27[ __ ] I'm just playing. Back on my
  212. 6:28[ __ ] madder than a dog. I'll be
  213. 6:29with my Labrador. Piss in my territory,
  214. 6:30I'll be getting tense. It don't matter
  215. 6:31about [music] the category. I don't need
  216. 6:32the hands but got this [ __ ] on the
  217. 6:33calendar. Pain not going crazy, that's
  218. 6:35an allegory. Crazy even for my
  219. 6:36looseness, it's auditory. Wait, Left
  220. 6:37brain, right brain, no brainer. I lost
  221. 6:39my mind and
  222. 6:43>> [music]
  223. 6:57>> Like I get that, but like
  224. 7:00I know life is too short, but at this
  225. 7:02point [music]
  226. 7:03you ain't going to hear me complaining.
  227. 7:05Look, cuz I mean
  228. 7:07>> [singing]
  229. 7:07>> this is America. This is embarrassing.
  230. 7:09This is only the beginning. We need to
  231. 7:10take the whole country and put it in
  232. 7:12rice and then reset the factory
  233. 7:13settings. We need an apocalypse,
  234. 7:15probably. Oddly enough, I think even a
  235. 7:17rapture here wouldn't suffice. If Jesus
  236. 7:19came back to this planet, they'd see he
  237. 7:21was black and then say he was the
  238. 7:22antichrist. They [music] keep on
  239. 7:23talking, let's get to the bottom line.
  240. 7:25You're spreading hate and then nation to
  241. 7:26monetize. Don't be surprised when your
  242. 7:28head got a dollar sign. Talk out the
  243. 7:29side of your I apologize. What was the
  244. 7:31[music] race of the two boys in
  245. 7:33Columbine? Rhetorical question, but I'm
  246. 7:34sure you got it white. I won't be silent
  247. 7:36so I'll put my neck on the line. Fly as
  248. 7:38a black pilot, and yes, I'm qualified.
  249. 7:40Leave the room, bombs dropping. Leave
  250. 7:41the room, okay, dropping.
  251. 7:43>> [music]
  252. 7:43>> Leave the room. Okay, bombs dropping.
  253. 7:44Leave the room. Say left brain, right
  254. 7:46brain, no brain.
  255. 7:46>> Left brain, right brain, no brain.
  256. 7:48>> Left brain, right brain, no brain. I
  257. 7:49lost my mind. [music] I complain. I go
  258. 7:51left brain, right brain, no brain.
  259. 7:52>> Left brain, right brain, no brain.
  260. 7:54>> Left brain, right [music] brain, no
  261. 7:55brain. I lost my mind. I complain. I
  262. 7:57lost my mind. I complain.
  263. 8:02>> [music]
  264. 8:07[music]
  265. 8:12>> Thank y'all. Appreciate it.
  266. 8:15Um
  267. 8:16so last year
  268. 8:19I committed to posting a new rap every
  269. 8:22single day for the entire year.
  270. 8:25And ended. Ended.
  271. 8:29Oh, what book you reading? Is that the
  272. 8:31book of all the verses?
  273. 8:32>> 365.
  274. 8:33>> 3650 on amazon.com.
  275. 8:35Uh
  276. 8:37I started off the year with
  277. 8:41barely 10,000 followers. Ended the year
  278. 8:44with over 375,000
  279. 8:46followers.
  280. 8:47And
  281. 8:49I don't know if y'all know it, but the
  282. 8:50halfway mark of the year is 183. And you
  283. 8:53probably do know that because, you know,
  284. 8:55you're good at math. I'm not. Uh
  285. 8:57I know
  286. 8:58that it's the halfway mark because on
  287. 9:00day 183 my mom had texted me.
  288. 9:03And she congratulated me on being
  289. 9:04halfway through the year.
  290. 9:06Uh
  291. 9:07all through the year last year she would
  292. 9:09always just be like
  293. 9:10I love your dedication. You You said
  294. 9:12you're going to do something and you're
  295. 9:13doing it and it's
  296. 9:15and you're making it work.
  297. 9:17Shout out to mama.
  298. 9:20>> [applause]
  299. 9:22>> Um
  300. 9:23shortly after she had sent me that text,
  301. 9:26she had suffered a minor heart attack.
  302. 9:28And
  303. 9:29when I was up at the hospital with her
  304. 9:31the entire time I was at the hospital
  305. 9:33she was like, "Did you do your verse?
  306. 9:35Make sure you go do your verse. Make
  307. 9:36sure you do your verse.
  308. 9:37Um
  309. 9:39and uh uh
  310. 9:41yeah, she
  311. 9:42unfortunately passed four days later in
  312. 9:44her sleep.
  313. 9:45But uh
  314. 9:47I The reason why I mentioned the
  315. 9:49following first before that, I just want
  316. 9:52to say that I had every reason to quit
  317. 9:55and I had every reason not to continue.
  318. 9:57But I knew that would make my mom so sad
  319. 9:59if that was the reason why, you know? Um
  320. 10:02so I say all that to say if a little
  321. 10:04black boy with mental illness in the
  322. 10:06middle of a dead mom arc can come can
  323. 10:08commit to himself for a full year,
  324. 10:11there's no reason that everybody in this
  325. 10:12room can't do whatever it is that they
  326. 10:14set their mind to times 10. You know
  327. 10:16what I'm saying?
  328. 10:18>> [cheering]
  329. 10:19>> Um
  330. 10:20>> [applause]
  331. 10:21>> so
  332. 10:24so uh
  333. 10:26whether your mom is here or not, whether
  334. 10:28your mom's with us or not, none of us
  335. 10:30would literally be here without our
  336. 10:32moms. So on a count of three, can we all
  337. 10:33say thank you, mama? 1 2 3
  338. 10:36>> Thank you, mama.
  339. 10:38>> Period.
  340. 10:39Yeah, absolutely.
  341. 10:40Um
  342. 10:42>> [applause]
  343. 10:45>> Well, speaking of persevering,
  344. 10:48we lost three times
  345. 10:50>> [laughter]
  346. 10:52>> and still made it up here. So I think
  347. 10:54it's only appropriate for us to go back
  348. 10:57to the very first Tiny Desk audition
  349. 10:58that got us noticed in the first place.
  350. 11:00Is that all right?
  351. 11:01Cool cool cool.
  352. 11:04Look.
  353. 11:05Look. And I say
  354. 11:07I'mma get water first.
  355. 11:17Um
  356. 11:21Let me tell you like I'm so unbothered
  357. 11:23right now. I'm so unbothered right now.
  358. 11:26I'm so unbothered so if you got
  359. 11:27problems, then don't bother coming
  360. 11:28around. I'm so unbothered right now. I'm
  361. 11:32so unbothered right now. I'm so
  362. 11:34unbothered so if you got problem then
  363. 11:35don't bother coming around. Mace to the
  364. 11:38face how the verse hit. Ego alter how
  365. 11:40you worshipping a [ __ ] making a wave
  366. 11:42you can surf it. While the rains in the
  367. 11:43plane dropping bird [ __ ] on you [ __ ]
  368. 11:45bird or plane as a [ __ ] in a cape got
  369. 11:47a lighter and a tank cuz I learned it.
  370. 11:48If any serving you you better burn
  371. 11:50bridge. Don't give that energy up unless
  372. 11:51they deserve it. If it ain't working for
  373. 11:53you don't you put the work in. You can't
  374. 11:55win together that defeat the [music]
  375. 11:55purpose. Sub to the buddy but I ain't no
  376. 11:58such [ __ ] if my peace disrupted I'm
  377. 11:59allergic to them. If he acting funny
  378. 12:01well it's curtains to him. [ __ ] that
  379. 12:02can tell me really burns [ __ ] putting
  380. 12:04only motivation money with a surface
  381. 12:05movement I'm unsatisfied and hungry so
  382. 12:07[music] my work's improving. Rather
  383. 12:08independence from it if it's codependent
  384. 12:09then I put it on a robber from a judge
  385. 12:11or a court of finish [ __ ] I ain't
  386. 12:12finna end up with a letter of a finish
  387. 12:13everything what I see I mean it. Sense
  388. 12:14[music] specific my rhyme book got
  389. 12:16spells in it. Not that it's magic I'm
  390. 12:17actually a alchemist not that it
  391. 12:19matters. Creating matters don't create
  392. 12:21to matter my verse is a horcrux avada
  393. 12:22kedavra and I'm so unbothered right now.
  394. 12:25I'm so unbothered right now.
  395. 12:27I'm so unbothered so if you got problem
  396. 12:29then don't bother coming around.
  397. 12:31I'm so unbothered right now.
  398. 12:33He's so unbothered [music] right now.
  399. 12:35I'm so unbothered so if you got problem
  400. 12:36then don't bother coming around.
  401. 12:42I'm so unbothered so if you got problem
  402. 12:44then don't bother coming around.
  403. 12:47Woah.
  404. 12:48Woah.
  405. 12:50I'm so unbothered so if you [music] got
  406. 12:51problem then don't bother coming around.
  407. 12:56I guess before we get out of here I
  408. 12:57should let y'all know what
  409. 12:59>> [music]
  410. 12:59>> Cure for paranoia actually means, right?
  411. 13:02So it's called Cure for paranoia on
  412. 13:04account of 10 years ago
  413. 13:06I was placed on medication for bipolar
  414. 13:08depression and paranoid schizophrenia.
  415. 13:10>> [music]
  416. 13:11>> But it's turned out that the music was
  417. 13:12way more therapeutic than the medication
  418. 13:14was, right? So I created this band, this
  419. 13:16brand, this movement called Cure for
  420. 13:17paranoia.
  421. 13:19Cuz creating music with these people is
  422. 13:20my therapy so hopefully the music we
  423. 13:22create could be therapy for other people
  424. 13:24as well, you know?
  425. 13:27Thank y'all.
  426. 13:28Uh
  427. 13:30Well, well,
  428. 13:32y'all please take your meds though. This
  429. 13:34is [laughter]
  430. 13:35This is not me saying, "If you're
  431. 13:37paranoid and everybody quit your
  432. 13:38medication quick, get off." No. My God
  433. 13:42today, no. That'd be crazy. That'd be
  434. 13:43how I end up on the news. Somebody just
  435. 13:45Somebody run up on me at the end of a
  436. 13:47show like, "He told me not TO TAKE MY
  437. 13:48MEDS."
  438. 13:49>> HE TOLD ME NOT [music] TO take my meds.
  439. 13:52I broke down records that ain't broke no
  440. 13:54records.

  446. 14:04commitment. [music]
  447. 14:06He ain't the spokesperson for mental
  448. 14:08illness.
  449. 14:10If anything, this [ __ ] out his mind.
  450. 14:13Boy, ain't you sober out here acting
  451. 14:15spiritual?
  452. 14:17That's just for show. I seen him
  453. 14:18snorting lines.
  454. 14:21I guess that's the cure for paranoia.
  455. 14:23Positive affirmations on Facebook while
