- 0:12hello
- 0:13and welcome back this is actually a
- 0:15major milestone in this course
- 0:17and in your education in computer
- 0:20science in general
- 0:21what we have done so far is quite
- 0:24amazing
- 0:25we came from the top from high-level
- 0:29languages to assembly language machine
- 0:31language
- 0:32and figured out how to make that
- 0:34high-level language compile to something
- 0:36understandable by the machine then we
- 0:38came from the bottom
- 0:41and started with the gates boolean logic
- 0:44and
- 0:44build a fully working computer
- 0:48we made a contact the
- 0:51hardware met the software it's quite
- 0:54amazing
- 0:55if you just realized how far we got it's
- 0:58okay you can start screaming you can
- 0:59yell downstairs
- 1:01too your parents if you're at home hey
- 1:03mom
- 1:04we made contact if they don't understand
- 1:06what they're saying doesn't matter
- 1:08it's okay you can explain to them that
- 1:10you finally realize what you've been
- 1:12doing
- 1:12if you are away from the home
- 1:16call them tell them hey i've made the
- 1:18contact tell that to your younger
- 1:20siblings or older siblings
- 1:24this is a part actually this is time to
- 1:26celebrate
- 1:27we're gonna have in a live session a
- 1:29little bit of a celebration
- 1:32anyway um to recap
- 1:35we have really built a working processor
- 1:37it can execute any of the risk 5
- 1:39instructions and therefore we can
- 1:41compile a c program to it
- 1:44we have seen that
- 1:48it is not probably the best and most
- 1:51performant processor that can be built
- 1:55is it has a fairly long critical path
- 1:58but that's okay
- 1:59that will keep us busy for the rest of
- 2:01the semester and what we'll see
- 2:03everything is going to be logical from
- 2:05now on
- 2:06and hopefully things are just going to
- 2:09be smoother
- 2:10all what we are doing from now till the
- 2:13end of the semester
- 2:15we are generally improving this design
- 2:19and adding some more features and
- 2:22learning
- 2:22the world that surrounds it so we have
- 2:25built our data path
- 2:27we understand our phases of execution
- 2:29and we have designed the controller
- 2:32and that's it for now see you in the
- 2:34next module when we make
- 2:35a better processor
