- 0:00hi friends welcome back to my Channel or
- 0:02welcome to my channel if you're new
- 0:04today I'm going to show you how to make
- 0:05this super cute granny Stitch bandana
- 0:09I've made mine in some rainbow colors
- 0:12some pastel rainbow colors so you can
- 0:14make it in as many colors as you want
- 0:17you could also make it in a solid color
- 0:18but I'm going to show you how I do my
- 0:20color changes and how I make this really
- 0:23cute bandan for the summer for your
- 0:25materials you will need some weight for
- 0:28cotton yarn I'm using a bunch of
- 0:30different colors to make a rainbow this
- 0:32is the I love this cotton from Hobby
- 0:34Lobby and a couple of these are the
- 0:37hobby brand um but they're not like the
- 0:40exact same weight but I'm just using
- 0:43them to use them up you will also need a
- 0:45pair of scissors you will need a 5 mm
- 0:48crochet hook and a tapestry needle and
- 0:51let's go ahead and get started to start
- 0:53your bandana you're going to take your
- 0:55first color this is for me the purple
- 0:59and this yarn is just a little bit thin
- 1:01so I'm doubling it up but you will not
- 1:03need to if you are using just a regular
- 1:06weight
- 1:07four but you're going to take your first
- 1:09color of yarn and you're going to make a
- 1:11magic ring so a magic ring you'll take
- 1:13your two fingers place the end of your
- 1:18yarn between these fingers to hold it in
- 1:21place you're going to
- 1:24wrap the yarn around those fingers again
- 1:28you're going to create an X facing you
- 1:31and then your lines will be parallel on
- 1:34the other
- 1:35side you'll take your hook go under the
- 1:40first
- 1:41set grab the second one and pull it
- 1:46up then you're going to want to grab
- 1:49right where your hook is with that magic
- 1:51ring and then pull it off of your
- 1:54fingers and then you have a magic ring
- 1:57once you have that you're going to chain
- 1:58three
- 2:04so there's my chain three this does
- 2:06count as my first Stitch and then we're
- 2:09going to place three double crochet into
- 2:11the magic ring so a double crochet is to
- 2:14yarn o yarn over insert your hook yarn
- 2:18over pull through three loops on the
- 2:21hook yarn over pull through
- 2:25two two loops on the hook and then yarn
- 2:28over pull through two and that's a
- 2:31double crochet so we'll do it again yarn
- 2:34over insert your hook yarn over pull
- 2:38through three Loops yarn over pull
- 2:41through two yarn over pull through
- 2:45two and then one more time yarn over
- 2:49insert yarn over pull through three
- 2:53Loops yarn over pull through two yarn
- 2:57over pull through two so now you should
- 3:00have four double crochets with that
- 3:02chain three at the beginning counting as
- 3:04your first one so what I'm going to do
- 3:07is I'm going to grab this loose end of
- 3:09my magic ring and I'm going to pull it
- 3:13just to make it a little bit smaller so
- 3:14it's easier to work into so after our
- 3:17four double crochets we are going to
- 3:19chain
- 3:20two one 2 and then back into our magic
- 3:26ring we're going to place four double
- 3:28crochets
- 3:30so go ahead and place your four double
- 3:33crochets into the magic ring so now you
- 3:36should have four double crochets chain
- 3:38two four double
- 3:40crochets and now what I'm going to do is
- 3:43again take that loose piece of my magic
- 3:47ring and I'm going to pull this almost
- 3:50all the
- 3:52way and that's your first round now I'm
- 3:55going to be doing two rows for each
- 3:58color
- 4:00so I'm not going to be changing my color
- 4:02at this moment if you are going to
- 4:04change colors go ahead and do that but
- 4:06I'm going to start my next round to
- 4:09start round two we are going to chain
- 4:13three and then turn our
- 4:16work and then we are going to be going
- 4:19into the space between the last Stitch
- 4:22from the last round and the Stitch right
- 4:25in front of it so usually you would go
- 4:28into the actual Stitch which is right
- 4:29right here but we are going to go into
- 4:31the space right underneath of that so
- 4:35you can see I'm in between the two
- 4:39double crochets right here so we are
- 4:41going to place three double crochet into
- 4:45that
- 4:46space so again we're not going into this
- 4:49Stitch we're going right underneath of
- 4:51it and placing three double crochet so
- 4:55now you have your chain three and then
- 4:57three double crochets into this space
- 5:00right here we're going to skip over to
- 5:03our chain two space and we're going to
- 5:06place three double crochet into that
- 5:09space once you've placed three double
- 5:11crochet into that space you will chain
- 5:15two and then you will place three double
- 5:18crochet into that same space so you will
- 5:20have a total of six double crochet with
- 5:23a chain two in the middle in that space
- 5:26so go ahead and place three more double
- 5:28crochet so now we're going to find our
- 5:32last Stitch right here you can kind of
- 5:35pull it apart just like we did at the
- 5:37beginning we're going to place three
- 5:39double crochet into the space in between
- 5:42the last Stitch and the Stitch right
- 5:44before it so you can see right there
- 5:47that's where we're going to place our
- 5:48Stitch we're going to place three double
- 5:50crochet into that space so now you can
- 5:53see I have three double crochet into
- 5:55that space and just like at the
- 5:57beginning we need to have four so we're
- 5:59going to to place our final double
- 6:02crochet into the top of our chain from
- 6:06this on this post right here so I'm
- 6:09going to find the third Stitch either
- 6:12the second or the third Stitch as long
- 6:14as it's on this this last bit here it'll
- 6:17work I see right here I'm going to place
- 6:22a double
- 6:25crochet into that
- 6:28Stitch so you can
- 6:30see there's my Stitch right there I'm
- 6:34going to
- 6:36place my double
- 6:40crochet into that but I'm not going to
- 6:44finish the Stitch so I yarn over I'm
- 6:47going to insert my
- 6:51hook and then yarn over pull
- 6:58through I have three loops on the hook
- 7:01I'm going to yarn over pull through two
- 7:04and you can see I have two Loops left
- 7:07but I'm going to change my color so what
- 7:09I'm going to
- 7:11do is grab my scissors I'm going to
- 7:15cut just a little bit off I will go
- 7:18ahead and grab my next color which is
- 7:20going to be blue and with this still
- 7:23with two chains or two loops on your
- 7:26hook I'm going to wrap my my new color
- 7:31around my hook leaving a little bit of a
- 7:35tail holding everything together and I'm
- 7:39going to pull through those two loops
- 7:41with my new color so now you can see
- 7:44that I have blue right here put into
- 7:47those two Loops then I'll just tighten
- 7:50it just a little
- 7:51bit and then we will move on to the next
- 7:55round to start the next round I'm going
- 7:58to chain three
- 8:00and just so I can secure this a little
- 8:02bit more I'm going to wrap both of
- 8:04those pieces around my hook so the short
- 8:07piece and my working yarn and I'll chain
- 8:10one then I'll go ahead and I will drop
- 8:13that short piece you don't have to do
- 8:15that but that's just so I can make sure
- 8:16that it's nice and secure then I will
- 8:19chain two
- 8:25more and then I will turn my work I will
- 8:28be working over over this extra piece of
- 8:32yarn but we're going to do basically the
- 8:35same thing we're going to find the space
- 8:39in between the last Stitch and the
- 8:41Stitch right before it and we're going
- 8:42to place three double crochet into that
- 8:45space so go ahead and place three double
- 8:48crochet so now you should have your
- 8:51chain three and then three double
- 8:53crochet at the beginning I'm going to
- 8:55move that extra piece out of the way now
- 8:58and we're going to go into the next
- 9:01space that we see right after three
- 9:04double crochet right here from the last
- 9:06row we're going to go into the space and
- 9:08we will place three double crochet into
- 9:10that space once you've done that we're
- 9:13going to jump into the corner space here
- 9:17and we're going to place three double
- 9:19crochet and then chain
- 9:22two and then three more double crochet
- 9:25into that same Corner
- 9:27space so now in your corner here you
- 9:30should have three double crochet chain
- 9:32two three double crochet now we're going
- 9:34to go into the next space that we see
- 9:38and place three double crochet once
- 9:41you've done that you're going to find
- 9:43your last Stitch of the previous round
- 9:46and find that space right in between
- 9:49that last Stitch and the Stitch right
- 9:50before it and you're going to place
- 9:52three double crochet into that
- 9:55space once you've done that just like at
- 9:58the very beginning we're going to need
- 9:59to have four double crochet at the end
- 10:02so on that final Stitch right here this
- 10:06is your chain three from the previous
- 10:07round we're going to find that top
- 10:09Stitch and place your final single cro
- 10:12or final double crochet into that Stitch
- 10:16so there's my top
- 10:18Stitch and I place a double crochet
- 10:21right into that and I'm not changing
- 10:24colors yet
- 10:26so I just finished my Stitch for the
- 10:29next round we are going to chain
- 10:33three and
- 10:35turn and then just like the other rounds
- 10:37we're going to go in between that last
- 10:40Stitch and the Stitch right before it
- 10:42and place three double crochet once
- 10:44you've done your three double crochet
- 10:47we're going to go into the next space
- 10:50and place three more double crochet then
- 10:53we'll find that next space and place
- 10:55three double crochet into that space
- 10:58once you've reached the corner space
- 11:00we're going to place three double
- 11:01crochet into the corner then we'll chain
- 11:07two and then we'll Place three more
- 11:10double crochet into that corner space so
- 11:14in that corner space you should have
- 11:15three double crochet chain two three
- 11:18double crochet then we'll find that next
- 11:21space and we'll Place three double
- 11:23crochet go into the next Space Place
- 11:26three double crochet and then we'll find
- 11:28the space between the last Stitch and
- 11:31the Stitch right before
- 11:33it so right in there and we'll Place
- 11:36three double crochet into that space and
- 11:39again we need to have one more double
- 11:42crochet at the very end here so we're
- 11:45going to find the top of this Stitch
- 11:48here and place your last double crochet
- 11:51into it and I will be changing colors on
- 11:54this one so I will yarn over insert my
- 11:58hook yarn over pull pull through three
- 12:00loops on the hook yarn over pull through
- 12:03two two loops on the hook and then I
- 12:06will cut my yarn I will grab my new
- 12:10color and I will wrap it around my
- 12:13hook then I will finish off the stitch
- 12:16by pulling through with the new
- 12:19color then I'll just grab the old one
- 12:22pull it
- 12:24tight and now I've changed colors so you
- 12:27will continue with that same p pattern
- 12:30of chain three turn Place three double
- 12:33crochet into the space between the last
- 12:35Stitch and the Stitch before it Place
- 12:37three double crochet into the spaces in
- 12:39between and then in the corner three
- 12:42double crochet chain two three double
- 12:44crochet and then three double crochet
- 12:46into the spaces in between again three
- 12:48double crochet into the space between
- 12:50the last Stitch and the Stitch before it
- 12:52and then a double crochet into that very
- 12:54last Stitch of the round and you will
- 12:57just repeat that over and over until
- 12:59until you have a total of 10 rows so you
- 13:02can count your rows by looking at your
- 13:04clusters here so this is one 2 3 4 so
- 13:10we've done four rows you will continue
- 13:12this same pattern all the way until you
- 13:14have 10 rows total you can change your
- 13:16colors wherever you need and again I do
- 13:20two rows per color I will see you once
- 13:22you have 10 rows once you have finished
- 13:25all 10 rows you'll go ahead and just
- 13:28change pain one at the end and go ahead
- 13:31and cut your yarn and at this point go
- 13:33ahead and weave in all of your ends if
- 13:36you have been changing colors like I
- 13:38have except I'm going to leave my end
- 13:41where my magic ring is just so I can
- 13:43tighten it up once I've done the Border
- 13:46but go ahead and weave in your ends and
- 13:47then we will work on the border once you
- 13:50have all of your yarn weaved in we're
- 13:52going to go ahead and work on the border
- 13:54now I do various different forms of
- 13:57borders I sometimes will make little w
- 13:59waves or I'll do shell Stitches the one
- 14:02that I will be doing for this one is
- 14:04actually not a border that I did myself
- 14:07it is from passionate Kelsey so you can
- 14:08go check her video on how to do that I
- 14:11will go ahead and Link it down below for
- 14:13you guys so that you can also see how
- 14:15she makes hers I'm going to go ahead and
- 14:16do the Border along the edges here but
- 14:19you can do any type of Border um they
- 14:22all seem to look really nice so I've
- 14:25just been trying to keep these ones
- 14:26consistent but go ahead and check out
- 14:27her video to see how to do that and then
- 14:29I'll show you how I go across the top
- 14:32here once you've done your border we
- 14:34will go ahead and add some straps so
- 14:37what I'm going to do is I'm going to
- 14:39make a chain of about between 75 and 80
- 14:45chains probably so I will go ahead and
- 14:48do that once you have made your chain
- 14:50we're going to attach it to the very
- 14:55corner with a single crochet
- 15:01and then I will place a single crochet
- 15:04into the sides of these stitches along
- 15:08the edge so the way that I do it is I
- 15:11have a post right here I'm going to go
- 15:14into this one place a single crochet and
- 15:17then into the in between part between
- 15:21this post and the next post I will place
- 15:23a single crochet and that just helps
- 15:26keep it consistent and keeps from
- 15:30looking too bunched up or too far apart
- 15:33so you can see I'm going to go into this
- 15:35little space here place a single crochet
- 15:39then I'm going to go into the in between
- 15:42here it might be a little bit tight but
- 15:45I'm just going to push it through so now
- 15:47it's in there then again into the
- 15:52space and I'm just going to do that all
- 15:55the way until the end but I will show
- 15:58you
- 15:59once I reach the middle so I just got to
- 16:04my middle Stitch which is my magic ring
- 16:06from the beginning I'm going to insert
- 16:08my hook into that Stitch I'm going to
- 16:11place the loose strands
- 16:15over and then I'm going to just do a
- 16:17single
- 16:20crochet and then I'm going to take the
- 16:22loose string on the back and just pull
- 16:25it tight so that it closes up my magic
- 16:27ring then you will continue
- 16:30placing your single crochets along the
- 16:34edge and then I will meet you back when
- 16:36you get to the end once I get to the end
- 16:39I'm going to place my last single
- 16:43crochet and then you're going to just
- 16:45make another chain as many as you did
- 16:47for that first one so go ahead and do
- 16:50that once you've made your chains go
- 16:53ahead and just tie the ends into a
- 16:57knot I'm always make sure to do a double
- 17:00knot just to make sure that it is very
- 17:04secure and then once you've done that go
- 17:06ahead and weave in any other ends that
- 17:08you have and you're finished and that's
- 17:11it you now have a really cool granny
- 17:14Stitch bandana I love making these in a
- 17:17lot of different colors this is also a
- 17:19really fun one to make with bargad yarn
- 17:22but I made these for pride month if you
- 17:24are actually interested in purchasing
- 17:26one of these and you don't feel like
- 17:27making one these are in my shop so you
- 17:30can go check it out at the link down
- 17:32below but I hope that this tutorial was
- 17:34helpful it was a nice and quick one and
- 17:37I think that these are super fun to make
- 17:39they're really quick they take maybe an
- 17:41hour at most so a really great project
- 17:44for the summer but I hope that you guys
- 17:46enjoyed let me know your thoughts down
- 17:48below let me know of anything else that
- 17:49you would like to see and I will see you
- 17:51guys in the next one bye everyone
