- 0:00Psychological script writing.
- 0:02You may have a great video idea.
- 0:04But the script will make it meaningful.
- 0:07which will compel the audience to watch .
- 0:11Script writing. It's an art, art.
- 0:14It's science. Science.
- 0:18just because you see this number of 890 videos.
- 0:20Don't assume I wrote 890 scripts.
- 0:23I started writing scripts from my 180th video,
- 0:26and by the 580th video, I realized
- 0:29I wasn't even using basic psychological principles.
- 0:33The Dopamine Gap.
- 0:34If you understand this term and apply it in your script, your life is sorted.
- 0:38Because this principle is the base of every script.
- 0:41Whether you're writing for films, theatre,
- 0:44YouTube videos, or for social media.
- 0:46It doesn't matter.
- 0:47Yes, I know many different creators have talked about this,
- 0:51both in English and in Hindi,
- 0:52but..
- 0:54this is a fact.
- 0:56and a fact cannot be changed,
- 0:58just like your mindset.
- 1:00Anyway, I'll give you my entire scripting process and every framework,
- 1:03but before that, watch this.
- 1:06Who is this?
- 1:09Common man.
- 1:10His expectation is that one day he wants to see a six-zero figure in his bank account.
- 1:15Suddenly, the very next day, he picks up his phone, enters his bank account pin,
- 1:19and instead of six zeroes, he sees seven zeroes.
- 1:22So now tell me honestly, would you like to hear the story of how this happened?
- 1:29You just fell victim to the dopamine gap.
- 1:32Just because of scripting.
- 1:34And this is its basic principle,
- 1:36which has two important pillars:
- 1:38expectations and reality.
- 1:40What do you expect from this common man?
- 1:42That yes, one day he will earn in six figures.
- 1:45but it will take 20-30 years.
- 1:47But the very next day he gets seven zeroes.
- 1:49So, here the reality beat the expectation.
- 1:53And that is why this story will hook you to listen to the rest of the story.
- 1:57So, the simple rule is, throw the confusion out.
- 2:00If your video's expectations are very high,
- 2:02but the audience's reality cannot surpass those expectations,
- 2:06then maybe your story and scripting lack that impact.
- 2:09You might have to work a little harder to hook people.
- 2:13But, if reality beats expectations in the very first few seconds of the video,
- 2:18then at that moment, you will have the audience hooked.
- 2:21For example, take this Mr.Beast video.
- 2:23This is written in the title,
- 2:24and this is what he is saying at the start of the video.
- 2:26This is my friend, Majd.
- 2:27and if he loses 45 kg in the next year,
- 2:30I will give him 250,000$.
- 2:35Which is matching the expectations.
- 2:37But after that......this is Majd's new house.
- 2:39And here he will have a personal gym.
- 2:41Unlimited healthy food,
- 2:43and all the necessary things to lose 45 kg
- 2:47and if you step on this red line.
- 2:51Before losing 45 kg, this challenge will be over, and you won't get anything.
- 2:54Here reality came into play,
- 2:56which managed to hook people.
- 2:57And it simply means, scripting is hooking people with the play of your words.
- 3:02Like this line in this video...
- 3:03Scriptwriting is an art, art.
- 3:07It is a science, science.
- 3:10Here, I used the word science,
- 3:12which no one else does.
- 3:13And the word science, in a way, denotes factual things, facts.
- 3:17Meaning, as soon as I said this word,
- 3:19your subconscious mind takes a pause and says..
- 3:23"Aah, science.. that means facts,
- 3:25proofs will be discussed in this video."
- 3:28So till this point, with the title that I've put for this video,
- 3:30expectations and reality are standing on equal ground,
- 3:34if you are a new viewer.
- 3:36So, we understand now that people will be compelled to watch the video
- 3:39when reality beats expectations.
- 3:42which happened in this video after this particular line.
- 3:47And after 580th video, I realize that,
- 3:49I wan't using the Basic Psychological Principle.
- 3:53This basic principle is fine,
- 3:55but how to master your hooks?
- 3:58which will ultimately help increase the audience's retention, .
- 4:01because if it's not there, the video will have no engagement
- 4:03If there's no engagement, reach is low; if the reach is low,
- 4:07then... it's a loss.
- 4:09Yes I know, I haven't done much either.
- 4:11But this is a mission, The 30 Second Rule.
- 4:13Psychology: Human attention span stays at its peak for up to 8 seconds.
- 4:16This is even less than a goldfish.
- 4:17Our job is to grab people's attention,
- 4:19and justify their click within 30 seconds.
- 4:22For that, these five psychological triggers that will force their brains
- 4:25to watch the video for more than 30 seconds.
- 4:27Number 1. Pattern Interruption.
- 4:29Psychology says that the brain loves patterns,
- 4:32but if they're broken,
- 4:33it goes into a shock.
- 4:34and shock is an element,
- 4:36that people instantly want to refuse,
- 4:38or escape from that situation,
- 4:40so there's a chance they might watch for more than 30 seconds.
- 4:43So for example, if I use this hook,
- 4:45'So how are you, today I am going to teach you....'
- 4:48Nobody's gonna fall for this hook today.
- 4:50Instead of this, I can use this hook,
- 4:52"Forget What You've Been Taught about This..."
- 4:55Or this "Your teachers were wrong about this"
- 4:58You must be thinking 'why? how? what?'
- 5:00what was my teacher wrong about here? Teachers are gods. And they are.
- 5:04So here, a pattern was interrupted, and the brain doesn't want to accept it.
- 5:08If not this, then the second psychological trigger is The Curiosity Gap.
- 5:11Our brain hates incomplete information.
- 5:14If I write in the hook
- 5:15"Here are 5 Tips for Success"
- 5:17...Useless...
- 5:19Instead of this, I'd write,
- 5:20"Hearing the 5th tip will definitely make you angry."
- 5:23"Listen to the last point on this list to get answe"
- 5:27And will justify why this is necessary.
- 5:30So, questions come to mind like, what is necessary?
- 5:33what is that fifth tip?
- 5:34what is that curiosity gap that the brain hates?
- 5:38The third psychological trigger: Social Proof + FOMO.
- 5:40Our mind grasps the herd mentality very quickly
- 5:43and cannot tolerate FOMO.
- 5:46So if I write in the hooks,
- 5:47"Dude, you should definitely learn these skills."
- 5:50Useless.
- 5:52Instead of this, I would write this,
- 5:53"Did you know that 90% of people make mistakes in 'this,'
- 5:57That they end up undervaluing themselves.
- 6:00or I might write this:
- 6:01"Only 1% of people know why Bill Gates goes to this cafe".
- 6:04So which cafe is it and why does Bill Gates go there?
- 6:07You got the FOMO.
- 6:08Well, this trigger is very famous in your normal life,
- 6:10so it might not be that useful.
- 6:11Then see the fourth one: Personal Stakes.
- 6:14Psychology says Self Interest is the Biggest Motivator.
- 6:17So if I write this hook
- 6:18"Today we will learn why Taj Mahal is in Agra?"...
- 6:21There is no point of general advice here.
- 6:23Instead, I would use this, "If you also feel that
- 6:27'This' thing should not have happened!
- 6:28Then this video is for you..."
- 6:29So here you are being attacked directly,
- 6:31so that relatability can be connected to you,
- 6:34and once you become relatable,
- 6:36you will surely watch it for more than 30 seconds.
- 6:37Fifth Psychological Trigger.
- 6:39IMMEDIATE THREAT/ REWARD
- 6:40Psychopaths know that Urgency always triggers Action.
- 6:44So if I write this hook
- 6:45"You will definitely need this after a few days..."
- 6:48Nonsense...
- 6:51It would be better to write
- 6:52"In the next 5 minutes you will understand why you overthink so much!"
- 6:56So here you are getting an instant reward for overthinking in 5 minutes.
- 7:00The hook formula's framework is simple.
- 7:02You can use all five in one script,
- 7:05but using three is very important.
- 7:07First, interrupt the pattern,
- 7:09then raise personal stakes and increase the curiosity gap.
- 7:12And when you combine these three, the result will be...
- 7:16Your Parents were wrong...
- 7:18what they told you about money...
- 7:20And its proof I will give you in the next 2 minutes.
- 7:22Would you watch this video further?
- 7:24If this were the hook?
- 7:26So, the matter is clear. If, in the first 10-30 seconds of the video,
- 7:28words like 'why' and 'how' don't come to your viewer's mind,
- 7:33then there's a 66% chance they will skip your video
- 7:36or just leave from there.
- 7:37But that's not enough.
- 7:39Consistency issues happen here.
- 7:41Because even if we've managed to hook them,
- 7:43how do we keep them focused on the main content?
- 7:47By the way, I've already made a dedicated video on this.
- 7:50in which I explained how the 'emotional cycle' is used.
- 7:54Emotional cycle doesn't mean you have to make people cry...
- 7:57It means understanding this pattern.
- 7:58This wave pattern denotes the pacing of your video.
- 8:01Just like in this video, at this point,
- 8:03the video was emotionally and relatably at its peak point.
- 8:08"You just fell victim to the dopamine gap,
- 8:11solely due to the scripting."
- 8:14Then we started telling a bit of the story,
- 8:15started building it up,
- 8:17and that build-up phase is the lowest point.
- 8:19And there is a basic principal of it,
- 8:22Which includes two important pillars.
- 8:24Expectations and Reality.
- 8:26and after that build-up,
- 8:27there's another reality that beats expectations,
- 8:30It is truly very amazing.
- 8:32But Madje, we have a condition.
- 8:33If you cross this red line before losing 45 kg.
- 8:37Then this challenge will over and you'll end up getting nothing.
- 8:39So you have to maintain this emotional cycle in your video to achieve consistency.
- 8:44So its method is simple, I won't make it complex,
- 8:47so here you have to write a relatable script.
- 8:49Like in this video,
- 8:50"If you understand this term and put it in the script, life is sorted".
- 8:53I used this because you can relate to that line.
- 8:57But if you're ever unable to use the emotional cycle in your videos,
- 9:00then use 'The CVF Method'.
- 9:02Here C means 'Context'.
- 9:04Explain your point in the simplest way possible after the hook.
- 9:07Like in this video, we put this as the title,
- 9:10and in our very first word, in our very first line,
- 9:13we clarified, "yes, this video is about that.
- 9:14You have come to the right place".
- 9:16Psychological SCRIPT WRITING.
- 9:18It is SCIENCE. SCIENCE.
- 9:20Second 'V', which is Visual Cues Application.
- 9:23People won't enjoy the scripting until you give them visual cues.
- 9:28Here, we used some visual cues,
- 9:31Like, this "ART" statement.
- 9:32Or "watch" statement.
- 9:33You can give examples under these visual cues which we have already done,
- 9:37You can demonstrate something visually.
- 9:40so that it's understandable even without a script.
- 9:43so with the help of these visual cues, you can hook them
- 9:46and maintain their attention in your video.
- 9:49and F means Framing.
- 9:50Whatever point you make in the video,
- 9:52that point must matter for the video,
- 9:55it's important to explain why that point is necessary for the overall story.
- 9:59And if you find this difficult too,
- 10:01then you'll have to attack the subconscious mind.
- 10:03There are two ways to attack it.
- 10:04First, present old concepts in a new way.
- 10:08And second, revealing your best point of the video at the very beginning,
- 10:12that is, using the 'Reverse Engineering' method,
- 10:15which you see in Nolan films.
- 10:18They start with the video's ending...
- 10:19and then reach the start.
- 10:21This helps a lot in your scriptwriting and ideation.
- 10:24But wait a minute!
- 10:26Did you notice one thing in this video so far?
- 10:28Yes, you have not achieved much yet.
- 10:31And this 30 Second rule is a mission.
- 10:34This is the section on hooks, and before this, see how seamlessly we moved to it.
- 10:38while staying within the story,
- 10:39So always remember this, your story,
- 10:41should connect with your previous point,
- 10:44Ohh god!
- 10:47How we will manage to remember so many things.
- 10:50I'll do one thing, I will launch an article after this video.
- 10:54Make sure to check the description after some time.
- 10:57But, one important thing is left behind.
- 11:01How I write SCRIPTS in 3 parts.
- 11:04So for writing scripts, I use Notion,
- 11:06so let me directly go to Notion.
- 11:08Now, I use this template.
- 11:10I will provide the link for this template in the description, you can check it out from there.
- 11:13And this is useful in increasing productivity.
- 11:16Here all my titles come. Planning of that title. How many titles will be needed in the video?
- 11:22I dont write much about the thumbnail... i only ideate.
- 11:25because thumbnail creation is a process i prefer to do later.
- 11:28Now here the main things are: research
- 11:30and script. as you see script option here...
- 11:32I write the script here..
- 11:34Now you will notice in the first line, I haven't written a hook or intro or anything,
- 11:40I have written "Things to add".
- 11:42And below that, there are bullet points.
- 11:44And this is the first part of our scripting.
- 11:47We start with bullet points.
- 11:49Why? Because if I know that my bullet points will make the video impactful,
- 11:55if these bullet points have potential,
- 11:56then I will write a script based on them.
- 11:59If these bullet points don't have substance,
- 12:03then don't write the script.
- 12:05So always remember this, writing bullet points is very important.
- 12:09One, this will save your time,
- 12:10and two, you'll know if your video is relevant or not.
- 12:13For example, I've already explaind many things in those bullet points.
- 12:16That I'm going to explain in the script.
- 12:17Because ideas rush through your mind quickly...
- 12:20and if they slip out, you might not be able to include them in the script.
- 12:23So, it's best to put them in bullet points first.
- 12:25And after that, our scripting starts,
- 12:27we start from the hook
- 12:29which is our second part now,
- 12:31nd in the hooks, I've told you how important visual cues are.
- 12:35So those visual cues, which I need to show at that point, I write those as well.
- 12:39Like, where this B-roll will come.
- 12:41or if there's any Bollywood scene.
- 12:44How can I add that in?
- 12:47I write that too...
- 12:48Script writing is an emotional game for a calm mind,
- 12:51and if you want to explore creativity...
- 12:54Write whatever comes to your mind.
- 12:56.Dont believe in norms that say "use this formula... or that one.
- 13:01Write what comes to your mind,
- 13:02and when you finish your first paragraph,
- 13:05you will automatically know,
- 13:07whether this story can engage me or not.
- 13:10If not... rewrite it!
- 13:11After that we start with the third and the last part,
- 13:14intro part...
- 13:16You must be wondering, last part...Intro?
- 13:18This you can also consider it the body intro,
- 13:19because i don't consider end part.
- 13:21Ending content on social media can be a mistake these days.
- 13:25From my perspective...others might have different perspective.
- 13:28I even write down where I need to take a pause...that too is included in the script,
- 13:34so whatever bullet points you write,
- 13:36they need to be explained in detail in your body intro part.
- 13:40And check whether the script you're writing is covering those bullet points
- 13:45if it is... then the script is going great...
- 13:46Continue.
- 13:47And at the end, I don't end the video,
- 13:49You will get to know later how..
- 13:51and this is how our entire video script is made,
- 13:53But there's no point of this video,
- 13:55until you know that scripting is just a 25% part of the video...
- 14:01after that there's story telling, editing, thumbnail...
- 14:04you'll get to see that over here,
- 14:05I will see you in the next video. Until then...
- 14:09Be busy.
- 14:10...Understood? understood.
