- 0:00Hey everyone, I'm David and today we're
- 0:02going to look at an architectural design
- 0:04presentation. Let's walk through a
- 0:06project together to show you how to
- 0:07speed up the process using a Rayon
- 0:08design. You can grab this template for
- 0:11free through the link in our
- 0:12description. If you're new to Rayon,
- 0:14take a look at their 10-minute demo
- 0:15video. The link is in the description
- 0:17box
- 0:18below. Now, let's get started. You can
- 0:21import, edit, and create architectural
- 0:23drawings in Rayon. For more info on how
- 0:25to do so, please head to our YouTube
- 0:27channel Tutorials. Once your drawing is
- 0:29in place, you can stylize, render, and
- 0:31prepare perfect presentations like this
- 0:33one. I'll walk you through using styles,
- 0:35annotations, and how to use blocks in
- 0:37Rayon to enrich your presentation before
- 0:39publishing it. Let's dive
- 0:41in. Open your browser and go to
- 0:44rayon.design. Sign up to create a new
- 0:49account. Once you sign in, you can
- 0:52create a new model or use one of the
- 0:55pre-made drawings from Rayon's template
- 0:57selection.

- 1:02Let's start with talking about styles.
- 1:04I'm going to zoom in on this elevation
- 1:08drawing. As you can see here, we have a
- 1:10couple different styles being used to
- 1:12show the different materials on the
- 1:13walls. We have some stones. We have some
- 1:16vertical lines and some diagonal lines.
- 1:19Now, these are all just different hatch
- 1:21patterns that all come loaded into
- 1:25Rayon. Using styles, we can control the
- 1:29graphics of the drawing in a much more
- 1:32powerful way than simply just choosing
- 1:34different hatch patterns, which of
- 1:36course you can do. You can just choose a
- 1:37square
- 1:39pattern. But let me undo that and show
- 1:42you how to use styles. So, imagine you
- 1:45want to take all of these stone hatched
- 1:48walls and turn them into uh really
- 1:51anything else. So, let's start by
- 1:53selecting them all using shift. And when
- 1:56you can't get it, when you can't get
- 1:58something, you can tab through to select
- 2:01difficult to pick ones. So, here we go.
- 2:08Now, once we have all of these selected,
- 2:10we could just change their hatch pattern
- 2:13or we could make them all into a style.
- 2:18So, save
- 2:21style. We can call it
- 2:23demo. It uses this hatch
- 2:27pattern and we're good. And then we can
- 2:30replace all of these with
- 2:34demo.
- 2:37Now when we select one of these patch
- 2:41patterns, we can see the demo comes up
- 2:44in our style panel. And what we can do
- 2:47now is we can edit the
- 2:50style. Let's change it to those squares.
- 2:55And now everything using that style will
- 2:57[Music]
- 3:00change. This is a very powerful tool.
- 3:02You can use it for almost anything in
- 3:05Rayon, not just elevation drawings. And
- 3:06you can also use it for things other
- 3:08than hatches. So, for example, we could
- 3:10change this demo style from hatches to a
- 3:15solid color. Let's say we want to paint
- 3:17all the walls
- 3:21blue. And of course, if you want to
- 3:24break a style, you can do that. You can
- 3:26select one of these
- 3:29walls, detach the
- 3:33style, and then go back to your
- 3:36[Music]
- 3:39hatch. Now, let's go to the kitchen
- 3:41floor plan and look at some of the
- 3:43annotation
- 3:45tools. One thing you might want to do is
- 3:47to annotate the distance between the
- 3:50cabinets and the kitchen island to make
- 3:52sure that there's enough clearance.
- 3:54Let's do this using the dimension
- 3:56tool. Simply click on the edge of the
- 3:58two elements
- 4:01and you'll have a dimension that you can
- 4:03place it any point you want to make sure
- 4:05it's
- 4:07legible. Now, the first thing you might
- 4:09notice is that this dimension text is
- 4:11larger than all of the other ones in the
- 4:13plan. We can fix this by seeing what
- 4:15style is being
- 4:18used. Style being used is inner. So,
- 4:20let's click on our
- 4:22dimension and click on replace all and
- 4:26replace it with inner. Great. Now,
- 4:28everything's looking nice and
- 4:32consistent. Now, of course, if you click
- 4:35on this dimension and you wanted to
- 4:38change
- 4:38inner, you could edit the style and
- 4:41change anything about it. The font, the
- 4:44text size, the arrows, anything you
- 4:47like. So, let's just play around with it
- 4:50and make the text really big. As you can
- 4:53see, everything adapts
- 4:55[Music]
- 4:57nicely. Really powerful tool for keeping
- 5:00your drawing nice and
- 5:03consistent. Now, we can also really
- 5:06easily make some custom annotations.
- 5:08Let's describe the kitchen island. Click
- 5:11on leader. Click on the element. Let's
- 5:14go up a bit.
- 5:17Type in kitchen
- 5:20island. And there you have it. Let's
- 5:23apply a
- 5:26style. And you can just move it until
- 5:30it's
- 5:31legible. Maybe even lines up with the
- 5:37dimension. Now, let's talk about blocks.
- 5:39An easy way to bring some life into your
- 5:41drawings. As you can see here, we're in
- 5:43the dining space and the living space.
- 5:45And the dining space has lots of
- 5:47furniture in it, while the living space
- 5:49has nothing. So, to make this look like
- 5:52a living space, let's get some
- 5:54blocks. There are preloaded libraries
- 5:57full of blocks in Rayon that you can
- 5:59access through the blocks
- 6:01panel. All you do is you go to library
- 6:04and you start searching for what you
- 6:05need. So, let's type in
- 6:07living. And now it's bringing up all the
- 6:09blocks that are associated to living
- 6:11rooms. So, another way to search is you
- 6:14could look for the item specific item
- 6:15you're looking for. So, let's type in
- 6:18sofa. And here's a bunch of
- 6:22sofas. Let's take this one and drop it
- 6:25into the
- 6:26drawing. Great.
- 6:38[Music]
- 6:55[Music]
- 7:16[Music]
- 7:33[Music]
- 7:35Now, you might notice something and that
- 7:37some of the lines aren't looking
- 7:39perfect. On the armchair, for example,
- 7:41we have a thick black line that doesn't
- 7:43match the other
- 7:44furniture. This can all be fixed as all
- 7:46of these blocks are fully customizable
- 7:48once you put them into your drawing.
- 7:50Just go over to your styles
- 7:54panel, change the black line to a gray
- 7:57line.
- 7:59[Music]
- 8:08Now everything's looking nice and
- 8:10consistent. An additional feature of
- 8:12blocks is the ability to easily switch
- 8:14them into section or elevation
- 8:16view. Each block has a family. As you
- 8:20can see here in
- 8:21purple, if you click on the family, it
- 8:24shows you the blocks of the side view
- 8:26and the front
- 8:28view. So let's go back to the main view.
- 8:33And if we were to put this block into
- 8:35our
- 8:37drawing, of course, this top view
- 8:39doesn't make much sense here. But if we
- 8:41go to the side and switch its definition
- 8:43from
- 8:46top to
- 8:48side, it will import the side
- 8:50view. And now we have a side view of
- 8:54that exact same block in our
- 8:56drawing. Now let's zoom out and look at
- 8:59the entire canvas. figure out how to
- 9:00share this project using presentation
- 9:04mode. As you can see, each of these
- 9:06drawings is in a page. Down here, you
- 9:09can use the page
- 9:10button. So, this title block down here
- 9:12is not on a page yet. So, I can just
- 9:14click and drag to make a new page.
- 9:18But even better than that, if I want the
- 9:21page to be consistent with the pages I'm
- 9:23already using, I can go to I can take
- 9:26the elevation page, hold down alt,
- 9:29option, click and
- 9:32drag, and now line it up with my
- 9:36final page. Make sure everything's
- 9:40perfect. Now I can rename this
- 9:43page work because that's what it is.
- 9:47Enter. Now I have a milwork
- 9:50page. The only problem now is that my
- 9:53presentation isn't in the correct
- 9:55order. The milwork page should be the
- 9:57last page of my presentation. But right
- 9:59now it's page nine and the mood board is
- 10:02at the end. This is an easy fix. You go
- 10:05to the side, open up pages. You can
- 10:08reorder your pages. And this is how
- 10:10exactly how they'll appear in the
- 10:11presentation.
- 10:13So let's scroll to the
- 10:15bottom. Simply drag milwork below mood
- 10:19board. Done. Now milwork will appear on
- 10:24slide 10. You see the number updated
- 10:30there. Now to share your
- 10:32presentation first maybe you want to
- 10:34preview it. So next to the share button
- 10:36let's first go to preview.
- 10:42[Music]
- 10:55And here you can see your whole
- 10:57presentation in the correct order with
- 11:01no work at the
- 11:05end. Next step is to click publish.
- 11:11Now the presentation is ready for
- 11:14sharing. As you can see, now we're in
- 11:16present mode, which means the
- 11:19presentation is live. You can refresh it
- 11:22after making changes, or you can
- 11:23unpublish it to take it
- 11:27down. If you're ready to share your
- 11:29presentation, simply go to the copy link
- 11:31button and a link will be copied to your
- 11:33clipboard.
- 11:35You can open up a new tab, paste it
- 11:37[Music]
- 11:47in, and your browser will open up the
- 11:50presentation in presentation mode for
- 11:52anybody to see even if they don't have a
- 11:54rayon
- 11:55account. Alternatively, you can also
- 11:57control presentation from the share
- 11:59menu.
- 12:01very end. You can click on presentation
- 12:03and it'll show you all of the
- 12:04information about your presentation,
- 12:05including a button to update it or to
- 12:08disable it if you want to work on it and
- 12:10not let anybody see it. You can also
- 12:12copy the URL from here or simply open it
- 12:14in a new
- 12:19[Music]
- 12:24tab. There you have it. A clean,
- 12:26professional presentation created with
