Coronal Access (Maxillary First Molar) — Transcript

- 0:16The maxillary first molar has three
- 0:18roots, mesiobuccal, distobuccal, and
- 0:20palatal.
- 0:22It has four canals, mesiobuccal one,
- 0:25mesiobuccal two, distobuccal, and
- 0:27palatal. The access cavity outline
- 0:30begins as a triangle with the base of
- 0:32the triangle on the buccal side, but in
- 0:34order to locate the MB2 canal, it is
- 0:36modified to a rhomboid shape.
- 0:48Before starting access, locate the
- 0:50central groove and the three occlusal
- 0:52pits, mesial, central, and distal.
- 0:55The starting point will be along the
- 0:57central groove midway between the mesial
- 0:59and central pits.
- 1:01Be careful not to start too close to the
- 1:03mesial marginal ridge or oblique ridge
- 1:06indicated in yellow to preserve the
- 1:08integrity of these two areas.
