- 0:00received a call that was transferred in
- 0:01to our detective bureau related to a
- 0:04woman who wanted to hire a hitman to
- 0:05kill her husband. Once we got the
- 0:07information confirmed where we actually
- 0:09had our source meet the suspect and
- 0:11we're able to confirm everything, we
- 0:12were rolling really quick. And right
- 0:14now, we're going to play the video uh
- 0:16the surveillance tape that we have with
- 0:18the undercover officer meeting with the
- 0:20suspect in surveillance parking lot
- 0:22where she actually completed the
- 0:24solicitation for hire.
- 0:26>> Got the video.
- 0:26>> Yep. Yes, sir.
- 0:28>> She just got in the car.
- 0:31>> She seems real relaxed.
- 0:32>> Um, first thing first, 3,000 and then um
- 0:37I do my thing and I'm lowballing. The
- 0:39price is really really low.
- 0:41>> He's lowballing it. The price is low.
- 0:43>> So, I just want to make sure that you
- 0:45know it's what you want. All right.
- 0:48Sure. Do
- 0:51>> we really have to?
- 0:52>> All right. you know, to I'd rather be a
- 0:55less, you know, whatever you feel.
- 0:58>> See, she giggles and she says, "I'd
- 1:00rather be a little less like what she's
- 1:02really saying is she doesn't want to use
- 1:04that language. She wants to talk in code
- 1:06>> like how do we how do we
- 1:10>> Wednesday morning? Wednesday morning at
- 1:11the house because I was looking in news
- 1:13newspapers here. There's been a lot of
- 1:15burglars in this areas." All right. It's
- 1:17nothing it's not uncommon for someone to
- 1:19break into a house and, you know, he
- 1:20gets two in the head. That's it. You
- 1:22know, I take a couple things with me,
- 1:24break a couple windows, make it look
- 1:25like a robbery that went bad. It's all
- 1:27over. I'm gone out of there.
- 1:28>> Now, he says, "I get in and out,
- 1:31>> catch two in the head." Okay. What's her
- 1:32reaction? Stone face. Nothing.
- 1:35>> But I give you maybe one or two days,
- 1:37you know, but I'll be in contact with
- 1:39you. You know what I mean? When it's all
- 1:40done, you know, and then I get paid.
- 1:44>> Cuz I don't know how well you handle
- 1:45pressure. You understand? I don't, you
- 1:47know, cuz I don't want
- 1:48>> No, I'm not going to, you know, I'm a
- 1:49lot tougher than what I look. I know you
- 1:51and you're like, "Oh, what a cute little
- 1:52girl." Whatever. But I'm not.
- 1:55>> You are. You're beautiful.
- 1:57>> Thank you. But you know,
- 1:58>> she's bragging about how tough she is.
- 2:00>> Wow.
- 2:00>> And that you might see a cute little
- 2:02girl when you look at her, but she's
- 2:04real tough inside.
- 2:06>> Okay. So, uh, you pay me the back end.
- 2:08How much you pay me?
- 2:10>> What do you pay back?
- 2:12>> Okay. When it's all done. I was going to
- 2:13get 3,000 from you today and 3,000 when
- 2:15it's all done. Okay. So, I'm going to
- 2:17collect all of it at once. You know,
- 2:18just throwing maybe a thousand more.
- 2:201,000 or two. Okay. 7 or 800,000. What's
- 2:24this?
- 2:25>> Okay.
- 2:26>> Okay. Seven cash.
- 2:27>> Okay.
- 2:28>> He's telling he's going to pay more.
- 2:29She's going to have to pay more on the
- 2:30back end if he trusts her up front.
- 2:33>> So add a couple thousand
- 2:35>> to the end
- 2:36>> between now and when it's done. You
- 2:38know, you have to have an option of
- 2:40change your mind. Even if you change
- 2:41your mind talking
- 2:42>> there's no changing. No, there's no like
- 2:45I'm ter I'm positive like 5,000% sure
- 2:49like like with me you're not going to
- 2:50have a problem. You're not going to have
- 2:52an issue. You know what I mean? Nothing
- 2:53of nothing. I just
- 2:55>> Okay. Do you go jogging in the morning?
- 2:57You go to the gym in the morning?
- 2:58>> I was going to the gym. Yeah. I mean, if
- 3:01I go tomorrow, it's not going to look
- 3:03weird or anything. I go a regular day.
- 3:05>> All right. On Wednesday morning, go to
- 3:07the gym.
- 3:07>> Right. First time
- 3:08>> around 6:30, 7:00. He always walks the
- 3:11dog in the morning.
- 3:12>> Okay. and
- 3:13>> he walks the dog across like over where
- 3:15the lake is and our door is always
- 3:16unlocked.
- 3:17>> I'll be in the house by 6:30 Wednesday
- 3:18morning. I
- 3:19>> think she had at least three maybe four
- 3:21outs with her undercover to step out of
- 3:23this deal and she took none of them.
- 3:25>> All right.
- 3:26>> Okay.
- 3:27>> All right. Well, thank you so much and I
- 3:29guess
- 3:30>> you're here.
- 3:31>> I'll hear something.
- 3:32>> All right.
- 3:32>> All right. Thanks a lot.
- 3:39>> Everybody knows why we're here. Chachi,
- 3:42you and Brian will go with me. We'll
- 3:44[snorts] go out to the house and get the
- 3:46husband, tell him why we're there and
- 3:48why he has to come with us. We'll bring
- 3:50him down to the station. You guys will
- 3:52debrief him.
- 3:54After that, Frank or somebody will call
- 3:57the wife, have her come back over there,
- 4:00at which time he will talk to her. She
- 4:02will be brought down here by McDivet and
- 4:05Jason. When she comes in, you introduce
- 4:08her to me. I'll bring her in the room.
- 4:10adviser of her rights and talk to her.
- 4:13During the process of this, I'm going to
- 4:14ask her if she knows anything about the
- 4:15crime, uh, the death of her husband. And
- 4:19of course, she's going to say no. At
- 4:20which time, I'm going to ask her again
- 4:22if she's sure. She's going to say no. At
- 4:24which time, Witty Jean will be brought
- 4:25in the door with his handcuffs on.
- 4:28That should give her the shock effect
- 4:30that I think we need. And right after
- 4:32him, her husband Tommy, if you could
- 4:34bring them out, I'd appreciate it.
- 4:35>> Yeah.
- 4:36>> All right. And then we'll see where she
- 4:38goes from there. Okay. She should be
- 4:40leaving for the gym at 6:00 and she's
- 4:44going to leave the front door open so
- 4:46that Witty, supposedly the alleged
- 4:48killer, can get into the house and kill
- 4:50her husband. Everybody be careful.
- 4:53>> Done deal. Thank you.
- 4:58>> Now, we're heading out to location. The
- 5:00suspect has left the house. She went to
- 5:02the gym and she's uh going to stay tight
- 5:05there for about 90 minutes to 2 hours.
- 5:07Sergeant Sheridan and the rest of his
- 5:09team is going to notify the husband of
- 5:10what's happening and we're going to set
- 5:12up our mock crime scene and then contact
- 5:14her and uh bring her back and make her
- 5:18believe that the actual murder has taken
- 5:20place.
- 5:22>> All right, we're ready when you are.
- 5:23We're at the scene.
- 5:30>> Police department, open your door.
- 5:33Jason,
- 5:34>> sorry.
- 5:35>> I'm Sergeant Sher. I'm going police
- 5:37department. Can I talk to you?
- 5:38>> Yes, for sure.
- 5:40>> Let me tell you something. I need to
- 5:42tell you something real quick here.
- 5:44>> You need to come with me to the police
- 5:45station. You're not in trouble.
- 5:47>> Your wife has hired a person to kill
- 5:49you.
- 5:50>> Relax. Just Just take it easy.
- 5:52>> Take a deep breath.
- 5:53>> Sit down.
- 5:59>> Yeah. I'm not killing you.
- 6:00>> Yeah. Just take take deep breaths. I
- 6:02want you to put on a shirt and come with
- 6:03me to the police station.
- 6:07>> Can you come with me and I will
- 6:11>> Can I tell you just I don't know what
- 6:12this is a little weird.
- 6:14>> I know it is. Let's go upstairs.
- 6:15>> My wife
- 6:16>> for whatever reason today like I'm sick,
- 6:19man. I had surgery on my back. Went to
- 6:20the gym.
- 6:21>> I know where she's at.
- 6:23>> I mean, and I, you know, like, believe
- 6:24me, like
- 6:25>> I know where she's at. Let's go
- 6:27upstairs.
- 6:27>> I should stop rambling. But I mean, I've
- 6:29I've been
- 6:30>> You understand what I'm telling you? We
- 6:32don't we don't have much time.
- 6:33>> Yeah. All right.
- 6:35>> If she arrived on your side, make sure
- 6:37you escort her physically to me. I'll be
- 6:39between the dodge and the crime scene.
- 6:42>> Okay.
- 6:42>> All right. Thank you.
- 6:44>> We're going to leave the door open like
- 6:45this cuz we got to make it look right.
- 6:47>> Here, follow.
- 6:48>> Hey, can I have your key? Cuz when we
- 6:50leave, I want one of the detectives to
- 6:52lock.
- 6:53>> Make sure to get it back to me.
- 6:54>> Oh, yeah. They're going to come down
- 6:55with you.
- 6:56>> That's the only key I have, man. Thanks.
- 6:58Hey, Brian.
- 7:00>> Grab that roll from Pete and give it to
- 7:02Magnanti down there to block off the
- 7:04back. That looks good. I like it.
- 7:10The time now is 6:21 a.m. Going to make
- 7:13a phone call to the suspect.
- 7:18Hi, this message is for Miss This is
- 7:20Sergeant Frank Ramsay, Boon Beach Police
- 7:22Department, Detective Division. I need
- 7:24you to call me as soon as you can,
- 7:26ma'am. It's urgent. Thank you.
- 7:29We left our message, so we'll wait and
- 7:32see.
- 7:35>> I'm Detective Marino for the Bone Beach
- 7:36Police Department. Also present in the
- 7:38room right now is
- 7:39>> Detective Anderson.
- 7:44>> You already know why we're here.
- 7:46Reference this whole investigation where
- 7:49uh
- 7:49>> your wife hires somebody to kill you.
- 7:51How long after you get married do you
- 7:53start or do you ever feel that
- 7:56something's not right with her?
- 7:57>> About a month and a half. Right away the
- 8:00money starts disappearing. Uh
- 8:03I had drugs planted on my truck. I came
- 8:06out one day and we were leaving in the
- 8:08morning and officer approached me. Is
- 8:10this [clears throat] your truck? I said
- 8:11yes it is. And I didn't know what he
- 8:12wanted. He goes can I search it? There's
- 8:15been activity on it. Someone called. And
- 8:17I'm like absolutely you can search it.
- 8:19Officer searches the truck. There's
- 8:21nothing in the truck. He lets me leave.
- 8:23The next day I went to get gasoline in
- 8:25the truck. There was drugs in my gas
- 8:26cap.
- 8:27>> So, who do you suspect that planted it?
- 8:30>> A hunch.
- 8:31>> A hunch was my wife.
- 8:33>> Okay. What would her motivation be for
- 8:34doing that? You're on probation at the
- 8:36time.
- 8:36>> She at that point? Yes. And at that
- 8:38point, she already had stolen hundred
- 8:41and some thousand from me. I basically I
- 8:44lost $240,000 with this girl. That's why
- 8:47today, honestly, I'm not very surprised
- 8:50or shocked about all this, you know? I
- 8:53mean, I guess fool me once, fool me
- 8:54twice, fool me three times. At this
- 8:56point, I just have nothing left to say.
- 8:58It's just ridiculous.
- 8:59>> What's her motivation for having you
- 9:01killed? I mean, like, why not just get
- 9:03divorced? Or did she ever mention
- 9:04divorce or separation?
- 9:06>> Never.
- 9:07>> So, what in your mind, what was what's
- 9:09her motivation?
- 9:11>> We just uh insurance policy? No, we just
- 9:14purchased a home and I just actually
- 9:17signed a title over to her until I could
- 9:20straighten out my other problems with
- 9:22probation
- 9:23and uh also, you know, the $20 and some
- 9:26thousand she stole from me I think is a
- 9:30big motivation. So basically, I guess
- 9:31with my home and everything else is a
- 9:33half a million dollars of uh motivation.
- 9:36>> Yeah. I don't have any other questions
- 9:37unless you have something else to say.
- 9:40>> Whatever she gets she deserves. I mean,
- 9:42I'll I'll do whatever I have to do to
- 9:44help this case move on.
- 9:46>> Okay.
- 9:46>> I have to.
- 9:47>> So, you want to prosecute and follow
- 9:49through with this?
- 9:50>> Yes, I do.
- 9:50>> Okay.
- 9:54>> Hey, check with Al. No change.
- 10:01Oh, you
- 10:07still
- 10:13>> Okay, it's no change. I don't think she
- 10:14wants to call back right away. Look like
- 10:17she's waiting for the call. Here's her
- 10:18call.
- 10:22Sergeant Ramsey, can I help you?
- 10:26You guys dismissed police?
- 10:30This is Sergeant Frank Ramsey, Boon
- 10:31Beach Police Department. We're at your
- 10:33residence, ma'am. Are you nearby?

- 10:41very urgent when you come home. It
- 10:42involves your husband. There's been an
- 10:43incident.
- 10:45Okay. Can you come right back to your
- 10:46residence, please?
- 10:50>> Ma'am, I'll tell you everything you need
- 10:51to know when you get here. Okay. Thank
- 10:53you. All right. Bye-bye.
- 10:57>> Okay. She's on the way.
- 11:00Let the people know, Pete, on the
- 11:02perimeter. Hey, Dan, make sure you uh
- 11:04send her my way if she comes over to
- 11:05you. All right, she's going to be here
- 11:07any second, so let's do it, guys. When
- 11:09she arrives on scene, I'm going to bring
- 11:10her aside. I'm going advise her. It's
- 11:12going to be kind of brief. We need as
- 11:14much information as you can on any
- 11:15possible suspects. I need you to go back
- 11:17to our station with these two detectors.
- 11:19And that's it.
- 11:20>> All right. And then keep that recorder
- 11:22going.
- 11:24>> Al, you said she's 97.
- 11:27Yeah, I can shoot 197 in about two
- 11:30seconds.
- 11:44>> It's going to probably take place a
- 11:45little over here.
- 12:04I'm Sergeant Ramsey. I'm I'm the one
- 12:06that called you. Thank you for coming.
- 12:07I'm sorry to call you. Listen, we had a
- 12:09report of a disturbance at your house
- 12:10and there were shots fired. Is your
- 12:13husband Michael?
- 12:14>> Okay. I'm sorry to tell you, ma'am. He's
- 12:15been killed. [screaming]
- 12:17>> He's been killed, man. I'm sorry.
- 12:20>> Listen. No. No.
- 12:22>> Try to calm down.
- 12:24>> Listen, right now what we do, we need to
- 12:26[laughter] get you to a station. We need
- 12:27to get you to our police station. We
- 12:30can't let you in, man. We have to do our
- 12:31job. [laughter] If you want us to find
- 12:33this killer, okay, we need you to calm
- 12:35down. I'm going to need you to go with
- 12:37these detectives. [laughter]
- 12:38Okay? Does he have enemies? Is there
- 12:40anyone that would want to hurt him?
- 12:42>> Okay. Who would want to hurt him?
- 12:44[laughter] Witnesses said they saw a
- 12:45black male running from me. I can't let
- 12:47you see him. Ma'am. Ma'am, I cannot do
- 12:49this right now. [laughter] Ma'am, I
- 12:50can't do it. Detective Y, I [gasps] need
- 12:53you. I need you to take her to the
- 12:54station.
- 12:55>> I can't. [laughter] Ma'am, go with these
- 12:57detectives. If you want to help your
- 12:58husband, okay? If you want to help your
- 13:00husband, you need to go to the station
- 13:01with these gentlemen and tell us
- 13:03everything you know about who he knows,
- 13:05who he's connected to. Don't worry,
- 13:06we've already taken care of dogs with
- 13:08animal control for right now.
- 13:09Everything's under control,
- 13:11>> and we'll take care of everything else.
- 13:13Okay?
- 13:15>> Thank you guys.
- 13:20Are they in it?
- 13:21>> I don't know.
- 13:22>> Hey, Dan. Are her keys in the truck?
- 13:24>> Okay.
- 13:26Open it up.
- 13:28>> Open it up.
- 13:31>> Just secure it for now.
- 13:33>> We're going to do everything we can.
- 13:35Okay. But we need your help. Okay.
- 13:38>> I just want to get in my house.

- 13:48right now. We need to get all the
- 13:49evidence we can.
- 13:51>> Yes, ma'am. He is inside and I can't let
- 13:52you. Mac, you got to get her leg in and
- 13:54close the door.
- 13:56>> Do you need the keys? We need to move
- 13:57your vehicle, ma'am. Can I have your
- 13:59keys so we can move it?
- 14:08>> Come on, Jay. Get her going. Let's Let's
- 14:10find out who he is.
- 14:12>> Very nice.
- 14:20Well, this is what we got so far. I got
- 14:22the two detectives to take her in the
- 14:23car back to the station. She wanted to
- 14:24go in the house to see him,
- 14:26>> right?
- 14:26>> Okay. She wanted to see him. Obviously,
- 14:28we wouldn't let that happen because it's
- 14:29a crime scene, but uh I'm I'm sure she
- 14:32wanted to see him to verify the fact
- 14:33that he was actually dead.
- 14:34>> Okay.
- 14:35>> So, we're good. Thanks, Rob.
- 14:36>> Appreciate any neighbors going to call
- 14:38and say he back up already, are they?
- 14:40>> No. They're going to secure her phone.
- 14:42>> So, she won't make any phone calls. Nice
- 14:43work.
- 14:43>> So, she's in our custody now, guys.
- 14:45Thanks.
- 14:48>> All right, we're heading back to the
- 14:49station now. Suspect's in custody and
- 14:52she'll be interviewed there uh along
- 14:54with the interview that's taking place
- 14:55with her husband.
- 14:57At this point, you know, looking back at
- 14:59when she first came to me, I advised her
- 15:02husband was uh killed to see her
- 15:04reaction. You know, the head down, no
- 15:06eye contact, shaking and persistent
- 15:09about wanting to see the body. And it's,
- 15:12you know, part of you has to wonder if
- 15:13any of that was sincere or was it all
- 15:15rehearsed.
- 15:17>> This is Marino and Anderson. They're the
- 15:20vote primary detectives that are handled
- 15:21the murder. Okay.
- 15:26>> I know it's very bad. Was he asleep when
- 15:29you left?
- 15:30>> No, cuz we said sort of, but not really
- 15:33because of his back. He was just kind of
- 15:34like
- 15:35>> laying there.
- 15:35>> He was just laying there and he set the
- 15:37alarm, you know. But I mean I went by I
- 15:41said you know I'll bring you coffee on
- 15:43the way home and you know normally
- 15:45>> uh are you sure that you don't know
- 15:47anybody want to kill your husband? You
- 15:49wouldn't want to kill him.
- 15:52>> Not at all.
- 15:54>> We are fine. Like there's nothing.
- 15:56>> There's no problems between you guys. No
- 15:58financial problems. No
- 16:00>> no there's nothing. I mean we've you
- 16:02know we're going through his business
- 16:04has slowed down like anything you know.
- 16:08Now, you know that I advised you of your
- 16:10rights, right?
- 16:10>> Yes, you have.
- 16:11>> Okay. The game's over with. Okay.
- 16:15There's no more games with you and I.
- 16:17Now, we're going to get down to serious
- 16:18business. I want to know if you know
