- 0:00I had no children when I was in 60
- 0:03minutes and so when my wife fell
- 0:05pregnant sighs decided it was time to
- 0:06say goodbye that wasn't going to travel
- 0:08for most of the years we used to do and
- 0:10I got a call couple of years afterwards
- 0:12from general starter we had coffee in
- 0:13the canteen at 9:00 and he said we've
- 0:15got Lindy Chamberlain
- 0:17and and I said oh it's fantastic you
- 0:19know was the really the biggest coup at
- 0:21the time everyone wanted to talk to
- 0:23Lindy and she was just out of jail and
- 0:24he said but she'll only talk to you and
- 0:27and I thought wow okay well how we gonna
- 0:29do that and so I came back as a guest
- 0:31for 60 minutes she'd watched midday so
- 0:33that happened when she was in jail well
- 0:35let me ask you face-to-face what every
- 0:36Australian would ask you did you kill
- 0:39Azaria no why I loved that little girl
- 0:45everyone had an opinion about Lindy
- 0:47Chamberlain I didn't have an opinion but
- 0:49I was prepared to ask her all the
- 0:50questions I didn't have any bias when I
- 0:52went to her and I found to be honest and
- 0:54probably you know one of the most
- 0:57brutalized devastated women are ever met
- 1:01in my life and I what she went through
- 1:02the purgatory she went through was
- 1:04unbelievable and shameful half Australia
- 1:07thought she was guilty and half thought
- 1:08she was innocent and so we had to try
- 1:10and straddle between the two versions of
- 1:13what had happened and I had no doubts
- 1:15when it was all over that she was
- 1:16innocent as Michael was hello I'm Liam
