  2. 0:07you want to fill up the burette with the
  3. 0:10sodium hydroxide solution
  4. 0:13now burnt
  5. 0:15one can assume that they are
  6. 0:18clean
  7. 0:19and someone else is going to not trust
  8. 0:22the people who used it before is going
  9. 0:25to use with the
  10. 0:27pioneers water which is a better
  11. 0:29technique so you have neonice water
  12. 0:32and for two purposes one to make sure
  13. 0:35that it's actually
  14. 0:37is going to be
  15. 0:39working
  16. 0:40so the sample is not clogged or it's the
  17. 0:43it's working properly
  18. 0:46then you are going to rotate the buret
  19. 0:49like this
  20. 0:51to make sure inside wall is completely
  21. 0:55clean
  22. 0:59next
  23. 1:00we want to rinse it so we read this
  24. 1:04clean
  25. 1:04now we want to rinse it with sodium
  26. 1:07hydroxide why do we need to reset the
  27. 1:09sodium hydroxide
  28. 1:12because after you wash me dry water
  29. 1:14there might be some drops of the
  30. 1:16deionized water you could still see
  31. 1:18there here some drugs of the eye water
  32. 1:20in the buret and that could dilute the
  33. 1:24solution
  34. 1:25that we are using so we want to make
  35. 1:28sure to raise the buret with sodium
  36. 1:30hydroxide
  37. 1:33i'm going to always transfer to smaller
  38. 1:35containers so you have you have it like
  39. 1:38more control and is more manageable use
  40. 1:41a small
  41. 1:42plastic funnel to fill the burette i
  42. 1:45only need about five to ten milliliters
  43. 1:48of the solution
  44. 1:49and while i'm pouring the solution in i
  45. 1:52have to make sure the snapcode is
  46. 1:56closed
  47. 1:57now take the funnel out
  48. 1:59similar procedure
  49. 2:01i'm going to rotate it
  50. 2:03to make sure inside the burette is
  51. 2:06completely rinse with the
  52. 2:10with the sodium hydroxide
  53. 2:12i don't need that
  54. 2:14solution so i'm going to discard it
  55. 2:17discard the wash solution
  56. 2:31my buret is ready to be used i washed it
  57. 2:34with distilled water and i rinsed with
  58. 2:38sodium hydroxide i'm going to always
  59. 2:40rinse it with the same solution that i'm
  60. 2:43going to fill it up
  61. 2:45i'm holding it
  62. 2:46i'm holding the burette so you can see
  63. 2:49it better otherwise this needs to be
  64. 2:51secured as the
  65. 2:53on the
  66. 2:55red clamp
  67. 2:59i put
  68. 3:00higher than
  69. 3:01zero
  70. 3:02we've worked with this uh for experiment
  71. 3:05one
  72. 3:06already couple times so
  73. 3:08the graduation line starts from zero it
  74. 3:11goes down to fifty so i could liquid
  75. 3:13more than to make it higher than level
  76. 3:16of the zero
  77. 3:18then
  78. 3:19i'm going to dispense some out to adjust
  79. 3:22it exactly at
  80. 3:24zero
  81. 3:26and i'm looking for the meniscus just
  82. 3:28like any other cylinder shaped equipment
  83. 3:31where we have
  84. 3:34liquid in the cylinder shape equipment
  85. 3:36going to
  86. 3:37be
  87. 3:40leveling at the curve
  88. 3:42so we have to look for the lowest point
  89. 3:45of the curve in order to read the level
  90. 3:48so i need to get it down to
  91. 3:51exactly
  92. 3:54so you know there's sometimes there's
  93. 3:55the air bubble here and if there's air
  94. 3:58bubble i put it lower
  95. 4:00i put it at a
  96. 4:02i take more i dispense more of the
  97. 4:05liquid until
  98. 4:06i make sure there is no air bubble here
  99. 4:09and if there is no air bubble here and
  100. 4:12also making sure that this level is at
  101. 4:16one now
  102. 4:18so and my starting volume is going to be
  103. 4:21one so initial variance reading for me
  104. 4:23is going to be one at this point
  105. 4:27because i had to dispense
  106. 4:29some
  107. 4:31more liquid out to get to get rid of the
  108. 4:33air bubbles that we have
  109. 4:35so
  110. 4:36next
  111. 4:37we have the
  112. 4:39initial buret reading
  113. 4:43i have one point zero zero
  114. 4:46initial
  115. 4:52view rest reading
  116. 4:55[Music]
  117. 5:02you
