- 0:00we're beginning with a follow-up to a
- 0:01story Cheryl Akerson reported here last
- 0:04night she showed us video that directly
- 0:06contradicted Hillary Clinton's account
- 0:09of the danger she faced on a 1996 visit
- 0:12to Bosnia since our broadcast that video
- 0:15has spread all over the Internet it was
- 0:17the most viewed video of the day on
- 0:19YouTube with more than a million hits
- 0:22and today Senator Clinton admitted quote
- 0:25I made a mistake but it wasn't the only
- 0:27one as Cheryl shows us tonight
- 0:31Hillary Clinton's attempt to tout her
- 0:32foreign policy experience hounded her
- 0:35again on the campaign Trail today I made
- 0:38I you know I uh made a mistake in in
- 0:41describing it I she claimed she misspoke
- 0:43last week and was sleep deprived when
- 0:45she described Landing under sniper fire
- 0:47in tusla Bosnia something that didn't
- 0:50happen but CBS News has found several
- 0:52times in the past few months when
- 0:54Senator Clinton used the Bosnia trip to
- 0:56try to show her International experience
- 0:59December and
- 1:00know we landed in one of those Corkscrew
- 1:02Landings and ran out because they said
- 1:05there might be sniper fire I don't
- 1:07remember anybody offering me tea on the
- 1:10tarmac when that was happening then in
- 1:12February the welcoming ceremony had to
- 1:15be moved inside because of sniper fire
- 1:17and last week and uh I remember Landing
- 1:20under sniper fire we basically were told
- 1:22to run to our cars now that is what
- 1:24happened after CBS News video showed
- 1:26what really happened when she landed and
- 1:28greeted officials senator Clinton
- 1:30maintained there were risks but
- 1:32explained to the Philadelphia Daily News
- 1:34why she was seen on the Bosnian tarmac
- 1:36greeting a young child if it was really
- 1:38so dangerous I was also told that the
- 1:41greeting ceremony had been moved away
- 1:43from the uh tarmac but that there was
- 1:47this 8-year-old girl and I said well I
- 1:49have I can't I can't rush by her I've
- 1:52got to at least greet her so I greeted
- 1:53her I took her stuff and I left now
- 1:55that's my memory of it good to see you
- 1:57once again her memory doesn't match our
- 2:00videotape she and her daughter Chelsea
- 2:02lingered on the tarmac to greet US
- 2:05military
- 2:06officials took photos there was the
- 2:09group of seventh graders on the tarmac 2
- 2:11and then Senator Clinton walked to the
- 2:13armor vehicle where she did eventually
- 2:16Dock and
- 2:17enter Senator Clinton hinted today that
- 2:20her own staff has been suggesting to her
- 2:22that the events weren't quite as
- 2:23dramatic as she had suggested her staff
- 2:25also sent out an email to reporters
- 2:27today with a list of supposed
- 2:29inconsistency
- 2:30in what Senator Obama has said and done
- 2:33Harry in the end doesn't this really
- 2:34come down to a matter of can you trust
- 2:37what she
- 2:38says I think so I think that one reason
- 2:41political observers think this is so
- 2:42important is that Hillary Clinton has of
- 2:44course made experience her issue in this
- 2:46campaign saying she's the one that's
- 2:48best suited to answer that 3 in the
- 2:50morning phone call all right Cheryl
- 2:51aison on Capitol Hill thanks
