CISD: The Missing Entry Signal | ICT Concepts — Transcript

- 0:00Welcome to this ICT concepts training
- 0:02video into the CISD, which is your
- 0:05ultimate entry trading signature.
- 0:08There's a moment in every single trade
- 0:10where the market tells you it's about a
- 0:12flip. Most traders miss it. It's called
- 0:15a change in state of delivery. And once
- 0:18you understand this, you'll never
- 0:20second-guess your entries again. If
- 0:23you're like most traders trying to apply
- 0:25SMC and ICT principles, you mark out
- 0:28your levels, you see liquidity being
- 0:31swept, you even catch signs of a
- 0:33possible reversal, but you still
- 0:35hesitate. Or even worse, you enter too
- 0:38early, get stopped out, and then watch
- 0:40price take off without you. It's not
- 0:43that you don't understand SMC
- 0:45principles. It's that you don't yet have
- 0:47a consistent, repeatable formula to
- 0:50confirm that the change is in fact real.
- 0:52That's what the CISD gave me. Before I
- 0:56understood it, I would catch setups, but
- 0:58I was always second-guessing. That
- 1:01emotional toll, the doubts, the
- 1:02over-trading, the missed moves, it
- 1:05almost made me give up trading
- 1:07altogether. But the game changed for me
- 1:10when I learned to wait for the change in
- 1:12state of delivery. It is that precise
- 1:15moment where the market shows you the
- 1:17real shift in control is happening. It's
- 1:20not just about breaker blocks or
- 1:22breaking structures. It's about seeing
- 1:24that moment where the market structure
- 1:26and the intention all flip. Let us now
- 1:29dive into the mechanics about how the
- 1:31CISD works. So if you look on the chart
- 1:33over here, there's a few components that
- 1:35all have to align to be able to trade
- 1:37this method effectively. What you want
- 1:39to see on the higher time frame candles,
- 1:42you want to see a failure to displace,
- 1:44which is just a signature for reversal.
- 1:47In this failure to displace, we will
- 1:48observe manipulation sweeping these
- 1:51highs, but failing to displace above
- 1:53them. We look for this evident
- 1:54manipulation. We've got this buy-to-sell
- 1:57candle forming this V formation, and
- 1:59then we'll see that the CISD line will
- 2:01become valid. When we've got all these
- 2:03components lining up together, this is
- 2:05where your CISD becomes successful.
- 2:08Here's another example. So, you can see
- 2:10we've got a failure to displace on the
- 2:11higher time frame candles. And then if
- 2:13we jump onto the lower time frame,
- 2:15you'll see price sweeps out those lows.
- 2:17Now, it's the candle or series of
- 2:19candles that sweep this low. We mark out
- 2:21the high of that level, and that becomes
- 2:23our CISD level. When price breaks above
- 2:26this level, that is precisely where you
- 2:28want to enter your trade. Let's zoom in
- 2:30a little bit here. If you look here,
- 2:32this would be our key level, which would
- 2:34be a previous candle high or a swing
- 2:37high or a swing low point. You can see
- 2:39price sweeps out this level, but also
- 2:41notice the aggression in the candles
- 2:43that sweep it out. We've got this
- 2:44aggressive buying that sweeps out the
- 2:46high, raids out the stop losses, and
- 2:48then we get this aggressive selling
- 2:50down, causes this V formation. Then,
- 2:53what you want to do is you want to mark
- 2:54out the opening price of the candles or
- 2:57series of candles that caused that
- 2:59manipulation run. As soon as price
- 3:01breaks below those levels, this is
- 3:03precisely where you want to look for an
- 3:05entry. But, you want to make sure price
- 3:07closes below the CISD level to validate
- 3:10it. So, here's an example. You can see
- 3:12price is forming these lows, and then
- 3:14price sweeps these lows. You can clearly
- 3:17see it's this aggressive run to the
- 3:19downside to sweep out these lows with
- 3:21these big wicks forming, taking out all
- 3:23the stop losses. Then, price gets back
- 3:26into the range, causing this failure to
- 3:28displace. So, what we want to do is we
- 3:30want to mark out the opening price of
- 3:33those candles or series of candles that
- 3:35caused this sweep to the downside,
- 3:37taking out the previous lows. Once price
- 3:39breaks and closes above the CISD level,
- 3:42this is where we look to take an entry.
- 3:44Oftentimes, the CISD acts as a very
- 3:47strong support and resistance level. So,
- 3:49you can see price breaks above it, comes
- 3:51back to retest it perfectly, and then
- 3:54takes off to the upside. Here is another
- 3:56example. You can see we've got a
- 3:58liquidity level over here or a key
- 4:00level, and price comes to that level,
- 4:02then it sweeps out the previous lows.
- 4:05Once it sweeps out those lows at this
- 4:07significant level, that is where this
- 4:09formula and strategy becomes highly
- 4:11effective. So, we look for the candle or
- 4:13series of candles that caused this sweep
- 4:15to the downside. You can clearly see by
- 4:18the wick size this was a strong
- 4:19manipulation happening, and then we mark
- 4:21out the CISD level, wait for price to
- 4:24break above it, and then we can look for
- 4:26an entry. Often times, price will
- 4:28retrace back to that level, and then we
- 4:30can catch an entry to the upside. Once
- 4:33price breaks the CISD, it actually
- 4:35validates this manipulation, and we
- 4:37always want to trade away from
- 4:39manipulation. This is what a bullish
- 4:41CISD will look like. Price comes down,
- 4:43taps into a key level, forms a low, then
- 4:46price sweeps out that low, comes back
- 4:48into the range, we mark out that CISD,
- 4:51as price breaks it, we look for our long
- 4:54entry. And for our bearish CISDs, price
- 4:56approaches a key level, then it forms
- 4:58our swing high points, and it sweeps out
- 5:00that high, we would get the
- 5:02manipulation, we mark out the series of
- 5:04candles or candle that caused that sweep
- 5:06of that high, and when price breaks that
- 5:08level, we look for an entry. The key to
- 5:11CISD confirmations are number one, price
- 5:14comes to a key level, number two, sweep
- 5:17of the higher time frame candle high or
- 5:19low, number three, identify clear
- 5:21manipulation, number four, mark out your
- 5:24CISD, and number five, enter on CISD
- 5:28break and candle close. Here are some
- 5:30more examples so you can get a better
- 5:32understanding. We're on the 4-hour, you
- 5:34always want to look at a higher time
- 5:35frame failure to displace. You can see
- 5:37this 4-hour candle taps into a key
- 5:39level, it forms a high points, and the
- 5:42next candle sweeps out that high, but
- 5:45closes back into the range. This is what
- 5:47we call a failure to displace. Once we
- 5:50get this failure to displace presenting
- 5:51itself on the higher time frame, we jump
- 5:53onto a lower time frame, in this example
- 5:55it's a 15-minute, and then we can
- 5:57observe the same process on the
- 5:5815-minute, and then we can mark out the
- 6:01CISD level, because this is the level
- 6:04that caused the run that swept out these
- 6:06highs. So, all we do is we mark out that
- 6:08level and we wait for price to break
- 6:11that level. You do not enter your trades
- 6:13until price breaks and closes through
- 6:16the CISD level. Here's another example.
- 6:19High time frame candle tapping into a
- 6:21key level and then you see we get this
- 6:22failure to displace of these previous
- 6:25high points. Price is not able to close
- 6:27above that level and we jump onto the
- 6:29lower time frame and we can observe you
- 6:31can see this is the candle that caused
- 6:33the manipulation run to the upside,
- 6:35forms a CISD level, and we wait for
- 6:37price to break that level exactly like
- 6:39this. And this is precisely where you
- 6:40would look to take an entry. Let me show
- 6:43you how to locate it and draw it out on
- 6:45the charts. So, here I am on the 4-hour
- 6:47time frame and you can see price is
- 6:50coming into the key level and you can
- 6:52see we get a failure to displace. This
- 6:55is where we see this current candle
- 6:56failed to displace the candle before it.
- 6:59This is what lets us know now we want to
- 7:01jump into our entry time frame. Here I
- 7:04am on the 15-minute chart, which is our
- 7:06entry time frame since we use the 4-hour
- 7:08chart to identify the failure to
- 7:11displace. Now that we've identified the
- 7:13failure to displace on the higher time
- 7:15frame, we want to observe and find the
- 7:17CISD level. So, if you look at this
- 7:20candle over here, this is the candle
- 7:22that caused this manipulation run to
- 7:24take out these highs. So, all we want to
- 7:27do is we want to mark out the opening
- 7:29price of that candle and then I mark out
- 7:32the name CISD. So, this becomes our key
- 7:36entry level. We do not enter trade until
- 7:38we see price break below this level. If
- 7:41price breaks below this level, this is a
- 7:43confirmation to take an entry. So, then
- 7:46all we do is we wait for price to break
- 7:48this low. There we go, get a nice break
- 7:50of the low and we can wait for price to
- 7:52either retrace back to the CISD or we
- 7:55can enter on the break. So, if we enter
- 7:57on the break, this would be the entry.
- 7:59Stop loss would come above these swing
- 8:01highs and then we can target either the
- 8:04lows or a potential fair value gap over
- 8:06here. You can see price came Look at
- 8:08that. Price came back up to retest the
- 8:11CISD level. It also came to take out
- 8:13this fair value gap that was resting
- 8:16over here. And I just want you to pay
- 8:18close attention. Just look how this
- 8:20level was respected. Price came,
- 8:24retested the CISD, but we did not get a
- 8:26candle closure. In fact, this would be
- 8:28another place to look for a perfect
- 8:30entry. If you entered one position here,
- 8:33you could have actually entered another
- 8:35position on the CISD level. Stop loss
- 8:38above these swing highs, and then we can
- 8:40target the lower fair value gap. So, we
- 8:43would have potentially had two fantastic
- 8:45entries into this trade. If you look
- 8:47over here, we've got this nice big wick
- 8:49rejection, which is also a reversal
- 8:51candle that we can use in combination to
- 8:54confirm this entry. The whole basis of
- 8:56how CISD level works is that imagine
- 8:58we've got a key level. We wait for price
- 9:01to get to that key level. You can see
- 9:03price gets to the key level. As it taps
- 9:05into the key level, it forms a high
- 9:07point. We wait for that high to be taken
- 9:09out, and then we notice price will drop.
- 9:13So, you can see over here, price comes,
- 9:14takes out this key level, then it
- 9:16creates a high point. It sweeps out that
- 9:18high, which becomes this manipulation.
- 9:21We always want to pay attention to
- 9:23manipulation because manipulation is
- 9:25letting us know the true reversal is
- 9:27going to take place. So, then we want to
- 9:29mark out the candle or series of candles
- 9:31that caused that manipulation run, which
- 9:33is the CISD over here.
- 9:36Wait for price to break below that
- 9:38level. We can enter on the break, or
- 9:40wait for the retest, and then price
- 9:42usually drops and goes into displacement
- 9:45after that. For our bullish example, you
- 9:47always want to have key levels marked
- 9:49out on your chart, and we do not enter
- 9:52until price comes to these key levels.
- 9:54So, you can see we see price coming down
- 9:57to the key level. It taps into that key
- 9:59level, forms a low point. Then we wait
- 10:01for that low to get swept out. The
- 10:03confirmation of the failure to displace,
- 10:06and then we wait for the CISD to break,
- 10:09where we look for an entry. So, you can
- 10:12see over here, this is where the lows
- 10:14get swept out. This forms a failure to
- 10:16displace on a higher time frame candle,
- 10:18and then we want to look for the candle
- 10:20or series of candles that caused that
- 10:23sweep to happen. And we have it marked
- 10:25out over here.
- 10:26All we want to do is see price break the
- 10:28CISD level, and then we can look for our
- 10:30long entry. Let us have a look at
- 10:33another example. You can see I've marked
- 10:35out a key level. Price is coming into
- 10:37that key level. So, that's the first
- 10:39step. So, now I want to look for a
- 10:41failure to displace to happen. So, there
- 10:44you go. We get a failure to displace
- 10:46happening on our higher time frame. Once
- 10:48we see this signature happening on a
- 10:51higher time frame, then we want to go to
- 10:53the lower time frame and look for an
- 10:55entry. Here I am on my 15-minute entry
- 10:57time frame, and you can see exactly
- 10:59what's going on. Price has come to the
- 11:01key level, and it's swept out the high,
- 11:04and it retraced back down. This is what
- 11:06we call a valid manipulation, because
- 11:09you can see this aggressive buying, and
- 11:11then there's aggressive selling. Kind of
- 11:13forms this V formation. Once you see the
- 11:15manipulation happening aggressive up and
- 11:17aggressive down, it confirms this. So,
- 11:20what do we want to do? We want to mark
- 11:22out the CISD level over here. Remember,
- 11:24the CISD is the candle or series of
- 11:26candles that caused this aggressive run
- 11:29to sweep out the higher time frame highs
- 11:31and create that failure to displace. So,
- 11:34we mark out this level, and we want to
- 11:36see price break below
- 11:39If it breaks and closes below this
- 11:40level, that is where we're going to look
- 11:41to take our entry.
- 11:43So, you can see we wait for a clear
- 11:45break. There we go, you nice break
- 11:47happening. So, what we want to do, we
- 11:49want to enter on the level. Stop loss is
- 11:52above the manipulation.
- 11:54And we can place our targets, which I
- 11:56like to use fair value gaps as targets.
- 11:58>> [snorts]
- 11:58>> So, this would be the current setup that
- 12:00I would have taken.
- 12:05You can see price retraced perfectly up
- 12:08to the CISD level to retest it.
- 12:15And there you go. Finally, price tapped
- 12:17inside take profit. But, I just wanted
- 12:19to show you how the CISD level works.
- 12:22So, you can see price breaks, retests,
- 12:24and then continues all the way down.
- 12:27This one concept completely changed the
- 12:30game of how I trade. It helped me focus
- 12:33on less trades that were more high
- 12:35quality, and it helped me stay on the
- 12:38winning side by having that CISD line in
- 12:41place, you simply do not enter price
- 12:43does not break that level. I teach this
