- 0:06particularly after the brexit stories
- 0:11broke which in Britain is a highly
- 0:14politically charged issue that's where
- 0:17the implicated parties that I was I was
- 0:20whistle blowing on weren't just you know
- 0:22this abstract tech company in Silicon
- 0:23Valley that everybody could kind of
- 0:25bandy around go yeah these guys are you
- 0:27know need they need to change all the
- 0:29sudden it was the Prime Minister's
- 0:32office the government ministers and more
- 0:36broadly the entire Pro leaf campaign
- 0:41which I think prompted a lot of fairly
- 0:46good triolic reaction so since since
- 0:51those sets of stories have come out I've
- 0:54been physically assaulted several times
- 0:56in the street somebody wants to push me
- 0:58into traffic I've been followed into gay
- 1:01clubs for example where alt-right blogs
- 1:04would send photographers so you take
- 1:05pictures of me and people that I was
- 1:07with to then post on all right blogs and
- 1:10forums the next day so that that has
- 1:13being you know not necessarily the
- 1:19easiest to deal with but again like
- 1:22anything you start to actually just get
- 1:24used to it so what made me decide to go
- 1:26public I think with me there was no
- 1:29single moment that prompted me to decide
- 1:32to go public it was a process so it
- 1:36started first working with the Guardian
- 1:38as an anonymous source at least to get
- 1:42some of the information out there in the
- 1:44public it also started with me working
- 1:47with some of the law enforcement
- 1:49agencies in the UK you know months
- 1:52before the stories actually came out so
- 1:55that a proper investigation
- 1:59the subject matter would you know be
- 2:02underway by the time it reached the
- 2:04public the the thing that I suppose
- 2:07prompted me to come forward was the
- 2:10exceptional situation that I was in
- 2:12where I actually had quite a bit of
- 2:14support most people don't have that and
- 2:16I think that's why we we don't see a lot
- 2:18of people coming forwards how is my life
- 2:19changed well it's gotten a lot busier I
- 2:22was very much a private person you've
- 2:26never done any kind of media anything
- 2:29before I had avoided any kind of public
- 2:31attention any kind of media once the
- 2:34story came out and sort of blew up in
- 2:37the way that it did I had to sort of let
- 2:40go of that that old habit and embrace
- 2:45the fact that people want to talk about
- 2:46it and talk to me about it you know the
- 2:48reaction for me is heartwarming because
- 2:51what it shows is that people do care
- 2:53about the issues but I did want to raise
- 2:56and that because people care about it
- 2:59lawmakers are now starting to pay
- 3:00attention to it and also not just
- 3:02lawmakers but the tech sector in general
- 3:04which I think actually more changes will
- 3:06happen internally from from the tech
- 3:10sector or more rapid Chino's rather so I
- 3:12find that a heartwarming but how is my
- 3:15life change it's just gotten a lot
- 3:16busier
- 3:28you
