2. 0:03babysitter to watch his two young
3. 0:04daughters Bella and CeCe he told the
4. 0:07babysitter and his wife shanan that he
5. 0:09was going to a baseball game with
6. 0:10friends but he actually went on a date
7. 0:12with his mistress Nicole kessinger just
8. 0:14two days later he committed the heinous
9. 0:16crime of murdering his entire family in
10. 0:19the following audio the babysitter
11. 0:21describes the events of that night at
12. 0:24the time of her interview she was under
13. 0:26the presumption that shanan and the
14. 0:27girls were missing she had no idea of
15. 0:29the tra that had already unfolded so
16. 0:32just for so the recording knows your dad
17. 0:33is Jeremy yes and Jeremy knows you're
18. 0:35talking with me right now okay so we're
19. 0:38talking about uh Chris and Sh shenan
20. 0:42watts and uh some responsibilities you
21. 0:45might have had for babysitting their
22. 0:46children yes so how long have you known
23. 0:49Chris and shenan um my dad used to work
24. 0:52with them and I think I got to meet them
25. 0:54when I was around six or seven years old
26. 0:57so Jeremy is your dad yes and who did he
27. 0:59work he worked with both of them they
28. 1:01both worked at Longmont Ford um shenan
29. 1:04was a salesperson and Chris was a
30. 1:07mechanic
31. 1:09okay do you remember when that
32. 1:12was H I would say probably in 2013 or
33. 1:1714ish is when they all worked there at
34. 1:19the same time what did your dad do there
35. 1:21um he was a internet
36. 1:28manager does your dad still still work
37. 1:30at no he works at Sahar Motors now works
38. 1:33at Sahar okay down in Boulder yeah and
39. 1:36do you know what Chris and shanan do now
40. 1:39um yes uh shanan
41. 1:41advertises um this thing called Thrive
42. 1:44which is a patchu word that gives you
43. 1:46like energy boosts I guess and then uh
44. 1:49Chris does the oil company where they
45. 1:52drill on the ground to find oil I think
46. 1:54it's called anad Darko anad Darko so he
47. 1:56works there yes and shanan do sh Manu or
48. 2:00and sorry mainly work from home or does
49. 2:02she travel or um she travels for
50. 2:05business when they have like conventions
51. 2:07and stuff and she posts on Facebook and
52. 2:10I think she advertises and that's what
53. 2:12her job to do is to advertise for Thrive
54. 2:15okay so she's an Advertiser and he works
55. 2:17in the oil
56. 2:19industry and so you think you've known
57. 2:21them
58. 2:22since five or six years yeah so you
59. 2:27babysit for them not on a regular basis
60. 2:30or on a regular basis not on a regular
61. 2:33basis uh so when's how many times have
62. 2:36you Babys sat for them just once once
63. 2:38and when was that Saturday night okay so
64. 2:41today is the
65. 2:4414th Monday is the
66. 2:4613th Sunday's the 12th so the 11th so
67. 2:50the 11th yes okay so you babysat for
68. 2:52them on
69. 2:55Saturday what time did you start
70. 2:57babysitting 4:30 p.m. 4:30 p.m. yes and
71. 3:01who asked you to babysit um Chris had
72. 3:04contacted my
73. 3:09dad on what day um
74. 3:13Friday do you know what time uh no I do
75. 3:16not know what time and he asked he asked
76. 3:19if I could babysit their kids while he
77. 3:20went to the Rockies game and shenan was
78. 3:23out of
79. 3:24town do you know who he was going to the
80. 3:26Rockies game with um he said something
81. 3:29about how was with his work or something
82. 3:31from his work cuz my dad was going to
83. 3:34the Broncos game that night and my dad
84. 3:36had invited him to go to the Broncos
85. 3:38game cuz he had an extra ticket and he
86. 3:40said he couldn't because this is
87. 3:42something from work so friends or
88. 3:45something from work
89. 3:49yeah did you see so what time how did
90. 3:52you get to his house did you baby sit
91. 3:53there or did he come here I went there
92. 3:55my mom dropped me
93. 3:58off and now was on Saturday
94. 4:01yes your mom what's your mom's name
95. 4:04Jennifer Lindstrom yes did you know your
96. 4:08mom's birthday uh July 1st
97. 4:141981 it's awesome your mom's
98. 4:18birthday so Saturday your mom drops you
99. 4:20off what time
100. 4:234:30 was anybody at the house uh Chris
101. 4:27and his two daughters okay what his
102. 4:30daughter's name Celeste and Bella how
103. 4:33old's Celeste she's three and Bella is
104. 4:37four anybody else at the house besides
105. 4:39those three no so tell me what happens
106. 4:44your mom drops you off does your mom
107. 4:45come in with you no you just get out and
108. 4:47go in by yourself yeah okay do you have
109. 4:50a cell phone I do what's your number 720
110. 5:05and your address
111. 5:13is so you go into the house
112. 5:17um Chris Celeste and Bella are there m
113. 5:21all right
114. 5:24and do does Chris tell you what he wants
115. 5:26you to do or tell tell tell me what
116. 5:28Chris tells you
117. 5:30and you said sorry let me back up real
118. 5:31quick um shenan was not home she was
119. 5:36somewhere else yes where was she Arizona
120. 5:38for her
121. 5:39work and Chris told you that yes and I
122. 5:42had seen posts on Facebook because I'm
123. 5:44friends with shenan okay so you saw you
124. 5:46knew
125. 5:48yeah but Chris told you the same
126. 5:52yes
127. 5:54okay so tell just tell me your
128. 5:57conversation with Chris when you show up
129. 5:59um I walked in and then he asked what
130. 6:02kind of pizza I liked because he was
131. 6:03going to order me in the girl's pizza
132. 6:05for dinner so he got on the phone and
133. 6:07ordered them Pizza uh he gave them their
134. 6:10medicine before he left because he
135. 6:12didn't want me to have to worry about
136. 6:14that and they were already in their
137. 6:16pajamas and he said I just have to play
138. 6:19with them and then at 7:00 lay them down
139. 6:23for to go to bed and he so he told you
140. 6:27to put them down at 700 p.m.
141. 6:30and he just showed me where their
142. 6:33cameras were for their rooms and showed
143. 6:36me how to what kind of cameras um they
144. 6:39were like installed on the wall and
145. 6:41there was like this little mini thing I
146. 6:42could watch to make sure they were okay
147. 6:45in their bed so like a little television
148. 6:47you were watching and you could see the
149. 6:48kids yeah I was like a handheld and it
150. 6:50switched back from each room okay was
151. 6:53that part of their video surveillance or
152. 6:54was it separate I think it was separate
153. 6:57okay
154. 7:00and then uh did you know if that
155. 7:02recorded or was it just live I think it
156. 7:04was just
157. 7:07live
158. 7:11okay and then he gave me a cell phone
159. 7:13number just in case I needed anything
160. 7:15remember what that is no it was on the
161. 7:17counter and I didn't need it and then
162. 7:19shenan was texting me and she was like
163. 7:21are the girls okay I'm like yeah they're
164. 7:24fine so shenan knew you were there too
165. 7:27yes she called me did Chris ever text
166. 7:28you no
167. 7:33um so shenan knew you were there because
168. 7:36Chris told her or did you tell her I
169. 7:38think Chris told her okay so how did
170. 7:41Chris leave the house but so did he run
171. 7:44you through these
172. 7:45instructions do you recall what the
173. 7:47girls were wearing yes they were wearing
174. 7:49two night gowns and actually police
175. 7:51officer came over today and they had
176. 7:54pictures and they told me to pick out
177. 7:56which ones they were wearing so they
178. 7:57went through that with you and can you
179. 7:59just describe them what they were
180. 8:00wearing if you remember um they were two
181. 8:02night gowns and I
182. 8:04think one was blue and they just had
183. 8:07like little kid like Stars and Hearts
184. 8:11and sparkles and stuff on them okay and
185. 8:14I think the other one was like a peach
186. 8:17color okay you remember what was on that
187. 8:19one what's that do you remember what was
188. 8:21on that one um they were kind of similar
189. 8:24it's still like the stars and the hearts
190. 8:28and I have picture of what CeCe was
191. 8:31wearing did you take a picture of her
192. 8:33that night um Chris took the picture I'm
193. 8:35pretty sure on your phone no he posted
194. 8:37it on Facebook or shenan posted it
195. 8:39because he was sending them pictures of
196. 8:41the girls when she was checking in on
197. 8:44them how did okay tell me how somebody
198. 8:47got a picture of the girls that night um
199. 8:51oh I'm pretty sure it's taken on Chris's
200. 8:52phone and then I'm guessing he sent it
201. 8:55to her and then she had posted it on
202. 8:57Facebook so that's how I saw it prior to
203. 9:00him leaving for the game um I can check
204. 9:03when she posted it okay because I I
205. 9:07noticed that that was the same exact
206. 9:08thing she was wearing when I came over
207. 9:10to watch
208. 9:13them it
209. 9:16was yeah she posted it on Saturday at
210. 9:1910:30 at night so and that's the night I
211. 9:23baby sat can I see that picture
212. 9:26yes that's the youngest one Celeste but
213. 9:29she goes by CC
214. 9:40too you don't mind if I take a picture
215. 9:42of
216. 9:42your is it bad lighting it's fine okay
217. 10:07so she posted that Saturday and that's
218. 10:09the cloth the clothing that um Celeste
219. 10:12was wearing
220. 10:14yes um the night that you babysat for
221. 10:16them so is that do you think that's
222. 10:19prior what time did you babysit you you
223. 10:22got there at 4:30 what time did you
224. 10:23leave um around 10:30 were the kids
225. 10:27sleeping yes
226. 10:34so I'm guessing that was before I came
227. 10:36because it's
228. 10:45like just making some notes just a
229. 10:48second
230. 11:05so you did not send that picture to
231. 11:07shenan mm Chris must have
232. 11:14yes do you remember what Chris was
233. 11:16wearing when he left um a white t
234. 11:19t-shirt and darkish almost black jeans
235. 11:23do you remember if the T-shirt had
236. 11:24anything on it no I think it was
237. 11:27plain do you remember shoes
238. 11:32no was he wearing a jacket anything else
239. 11:38mm does he wear glasses yeah he usually
240. 11:42doesn't but when he wore when he left
241. 11:44I'm pretty sure he was wearing his
242. 11:45glasses like reading glasses or
243. 11:47sunglasses reading
244. 11:57glasses and did he like left you a phone
245. 11:59number to reach him mhm do you know what
246. 12:02that again you said it was just written
247. 12:03down on the counter it was written on a
248. 12:05note yeah okay do you know who he left
249. 12:07with no did you see the vehicle or the
250. 12:10car that he left in no he told me to go
251. 12:13distract the kids while he left so they
252. 12:14didn't get upset that he was
253. 12:17leaving did you hear a car
254. 12:21no he did he take his own truck or do
255. 12:24you think he left with somebody um I'm
256. 12:26not sure cuz his work truck was parked
257. 12:28in front of the house
258. 12:29and I never looked in the garage or
259. 12:31anything to see if any Vehicles did the
260. 12:33work truck ever leave
261. 12:35no what's his work truck look like um
262. 12:39it's big and brown and it has like a
263. 12:42bunch of mechanical stuff on the back of
264. 12:45it it looks like for the oil
265. 12:49fields does it have any markings on it
266. 12:52no does it say the name of the business
267. 12:55no it's blank cuz I remember the girls
268. 12:57kept pointing it out cuz they're like
269. 12:59that's my daddy's
270. 13:11truck so the girls are three and four
271. 13:14but they talk with you a lot yes they're
272. 13:16very talkative they're very talkative
273. 13:18okay so did they tell you anything that
274. 13:20was happening was there anything that
275. 13:22was concerning that you heard um Bella
276. 13:24just she sat by me and she was really
277. 13:26concerned this her little sister fell
278. 13:28asleep before her so she sat on the
279. 13:30couch with me for a while and she
280. 13:32actually told me something she's like
281. 13:34can I ask you something and I was like
282. 13:36yeah she was like my little sister has
283. 13:38like she told me if she eats coconut
284. 13:40she'll never be able to see her again so
285. 13:43I'm guessing that the littlest one has a
286. 13:45severe allergy and that's what they told
287. 13:48her that if she eats that she'll never
288. 13:49be able to see her again and she was
289. 13:51really upset by that Bella was yeah and
290. 13:54so if CC ate um coconut she would
291. 13:58potentially die she has a tree nut o uh
292. 14:01allergy but I never heard coconut so I
293. 14:03wonder if they just I don't know if she
294. 14:06got coconut so CC has a uh tree nut
295. 14:09allergy yeah like a severe
296. 14:16one okay so you you watch the
297. 14:19children he leaves about you get there
298. 14:22at 4:30 what time do you think he leaves
299. 14:24um probably 4:45 after we've like gone
300. 14:26through everything and he orders the
301. 14:28pizza for us and where was the pizza
302. 14:31from Papa John's I
303. 14:35think
304. 14:39okay and he leaves about 4:45 you didn't
305. 14:42see who he left with M okay you you
306. 14:45watch the kids any phone calls do you
307. 14:47see anything out of place at the house
308. 14:49is anything weird it seemed normal they
309. 14:51all were acting normal the kids were
310. 14:53having
311. 14:54fun and the house seemed fine okay
312. 15:00and what you put the girls down at 700
313. 15:02yeah and then what time does Chris come
314. 15:05back um around
315. 15:0810:30 anybody else in the house while
316. 15:10you're there just you and the two girls
317. 15:13yeah my mom was waiting outside to pick
318. 15:14me up because he told me 10: so my mom
319. 15:17came at 10:00 but when he came home he
320. 15:19said he had gotten stuck in some traffic
321. 15:22which was
322. 15:23understandable
323. 15:27okay and your mom was there to pick you
324. 15:29up yeah she was waiting outside the
325. 15:32house in her car she just waited in her
326. 15:34car
327. 15:41yeah um he gets home at 10:30 M and he
328. 15:44was at the Rockies game right that's
329. 15:46where he said he was going yes did he
330. 15:48mention anything that happened or he
331. 15:50just gave me the money and I left he
332. 15:54didn't tell you he said he got stuck in
333. 15:56traffic yeah
334. 15:59was he wearing the same clothing
335. 16:02yes and you didn't ever see who he came
336. 16:05back with no I my mom saw him come home
337. 16:08so I bet if you ask her
