4. 0:08and there's props Chloe told me that she
5. 0:09wants to quit dance if she wants to quit
6. 0:12I have a whole list of people that want
7. 0:13to take her spot MD wins because she's
8. 0:16with two choreographers who work with
9. 0:18her seven days a week I will do
10. 0:20everything possible for my daughter to
11. 0:21leave your studio next year your top
12. 0:24Junior group winner this is my beauty
13. 0:28and dance compy
14. 0:30we're going to
15. 0:32Hollywood here we are in Hollywood again
16. 0:35the girls auditioning for a music video
17. 0:38for all of my students this is the
18. 0:40biggest opportunity they have ever had
19. 0:42in their career I would say hip-hop is
20. 0:43the most difficult of choreography to
21. 0:45get and listen to me you cannot act like
22. 0:48this in cry because you become difficult
23. 0:50to work with I'm the one that always
24. 0:52really practices at the dance studio
25. 0:54because it's a big deal I'm done excuse
26. 0:56me don't talk to me that way that's the
27. 0:57first thing I'm just saying I'm done

32. 1:22after Lake Tahoe and here we are back in
33. 1:26La I have a big surprise it's very
34. 1:28exciting before I get into that you

41. 1:43about the look the girls have some hard
42. 1:45lessons to learn here in Hollywood it
43. 1:47doesn't matter how well you dance how
44. 1:49well you sing how well you act if you're
45. 1:51not the look that they need and you're
46. 1:53not the package that they're searching
47. 1:55for you're not going to get the job I'm
48. 1:57ready to uh talk a little bit about this
49. 2:00surprise this is La the best people in
50. 2:04the world come here they're all vying
51. 2:07for the same job everybody wants to be a
52. 2:10star you are going to get the
53. 2:12opportunity to audition for a major
54. 2:16music
55. 2:18video in La I think this is like the big
56. 2:21deal that Maddie has a chance to be in a
57. 2:23music video she'll do great she really
58. 2:25enjoys auditioning that's her thing I
59. 2:27don't know who's going to get it I don't
60. 2:29know if all of you going to get it or
61. 2:30just some of you it's not up to me I
62. 2:33don't make the decisions so it's every
63. 2:35man for himself tomorrow instead of a
64. 2:38rehearsal we will be having a class I'm
65. 2:40going to teach a hip-hop combination
66. 2:42since that audition is going to be in
67. 2:44hip-hop this week is a whole new ball
68. 2:46game for the girls it's not a
69. 2:49competition it's not about your costume
70. 2:51it's not an award ceremony that's all
71. 2:53gone this is a real life professional
72. 2:56experience this is Hollywood they can
73. 2:58chew you up and SP spit you out or they
74. 3:01can make all your dreams come true it
75. 3:03just depends you have to be in the right
76. 3:05place at the right time and you have to
77. 3:07be prepared for the
78. 3:14worst okay come on back it up I have no
79. 3:17idea how this is going to go down
80. 3:18tomorrow it could be a hip-hop
81. 3:20combination just to see how quickly you
82. 3:22pick up because I would say hip-hop is
83. 3:24the most difficult of choreography to
84. 3:27get we tap we do acrobatics gymnastics
85. 3:29hip-hop you know ethnic dance creative
86. 3:31movement whatever you need we do it but
87. 3:33I would say that hip-hop was not their
88. 3:36Forte and going up against all these
89. 3:38kids here in Hollywood that do hip-hop 5
90. 3:41days a week we have our work cut out for
91. 3:43us oh you're too funny only in a dream
92. 3:47only in a
93. 3:48Dream well deserved well deserved having
94. 3:51the opportunity for my daughters to try
95. 3:53out for a music video is amazing I'm
96. 3:56going to kind of take it with what it is
97. 3:59we'll go full out we'll do it we'll see
98. 4:00what happens this is all very foreign to
99. 4:02me I would imagine it's a time
100. 4:03commitment whether you get the gig
101. 4:06initially or all the running around the
102. 4:08auditioning you don't just get off the
103. 4:10bed there's a lot of back work and that
104. 4:12takes a lot of time and I worry about
105. 4:14that for myself cuz I don't have that
106. 4:15amount of time cuz I have a school I
107. 4:17have two boys I have a household to run
108. 4:19and mean I'm I'm a housewife and that's
109. 4:21good that I could just leave I mean M
110. 4:23went to New York seven times and they
111. 4:26would call on a Tuesday oh we have we
112. 4:28have somebody that wants to see Maddie
113. 4:29tomorrow I'm like oh my gosh you know
114. 4:31tomorrow to go to yor we've done it I I
115. 4:33can't sit here and say that if an
116. 4:35opportunity came along for M that I
117. 4:37would say I wouldn't I can't do it m
118. 4:40wants this I think we proved our metal
119. 4:42that we're willing to put ourselves out
120. 4:43there and do what our kids need so
121. 4:45whatever if things come come about I'm
122. 4:47sure that if there's any group of women
123. 4:50that would make it happen I think it's
124. 4:51us oh yeah we would help each other too
125. 4:53I mean in a minute if we were going to
126. 4:55an audition we would take your girls
127. 4:58Melissa is the master manipulator I
128. 5:00always say that she's calculated that
129. 5:03she's always saying oh I would do
130. 5:04anything for the children you know what
131. 5:07he would do anything for your children
132. 5:09Melissa knows how to play the game and
133. 5:11she's playing the game we all think our
134. 5:13kids are special but we do everybody
135. 5:15thinks their kids are special La these
136. 5:17kids are mhm a lot they're amazing kids
137. 5:20here I'm not worried about Maddie
138. 5:22because she is the best all round dancer
139. 5:23in the studio and Maddie loves auditions
140. 5:26she's really excited and she'll do very
141. 5:28well
142. 5:30and hit it hit it hit it hit it stroll
143. 5:33two three four from
144. 5:35play WoW got it Abby is funny looking
145. 5:39when she tries to do hip hop and walk
146. 5:42cross sh
147. 5:44turn kiss girls you need to be stronger
148. 5:47emphasize each movement it needs to be
149. 5:49bigger that girl standing next to you at
150. 5:51that audition could have already done 20
151. 5:54videos they know who she is I'm kind of
152. 5:56nervous for that music video audition
153. 5:59but I'm also still kind of excited the
154. 6:01bad part is Abby told us that it's going
155. 6:03to be hip-hop audition and I'm not very
156. 6:06good at
157. 6:08hip-hop this is how an audition works
158. 6:11you walk in they throw the choreography
159. 6:13at you you either get it or you don't
160. 6:15you have to be able to pull it off
161. 6:17there's really no way to prepare for
162. 6:19this except by being an amazing dancer
163. 6:21in all genres of
164. 6:23Dance all right next two
165. 6:30come on girls look the dance studio is
166. 6:33right here see the letters Ida you can
167. 6:34see it come on hustle MSA is casting
168. 6:38this video so my girls have to go in
169. 6:40front of MSA a major dance agency who
170. 6:43reps some of the most prominent dancers
171. 6:45in our country sque on in
172. 6:48ladies When we arrive at the MSA
173. 6:51audition it's like a cattle call there's
174. 6:53tons of dancers little kids teenagers
175. 6:56there's parents everywhere you can kind
176. 6:58of feel that electric energy in the
177. 6:59everybody wants this everybody who's
178. 7:01here is here for the same reason we are
179. 7:04as you all know MSA represents the top
180. 7:06dancers and choreographers in the
181. 7:07business what we're doing here today is
182. 7:09we're looking for our next generation of
183. 7:10stars so with that please have fun and I
184. 7:13look forward to seeing you in the
185. 7:16room all right so in an audition setting
186. 7:20paying attention is key all right we
187. 7:21want to take our time so that you guys
188. 7:23can get the combo well so your timing is
189. 7:251 2 3 and 4 5 6 7 and 8
190. 7:34we are having to learn the combination
191. 7:36really fast and it's actually pretty
192. 7:38long and then we go have to go on
193. 7:41audition for the agents so that's a
194. 7:43little nerve-wracking from the top five
195. 7:46six seven and eight go switch drop pull
196. 7:49switch

198. 7:52switch usually the way an audition works
199. 7:54is the girls learn the choreography in
200. 7:56big huge groups you could take a hundred
201. 7:58kids in at a time then they start to cut
202. 8:01and they break it down into smaller
203. 8:02groups to actually go in and
204. 8:06audition you know music let's give it a
205. 8:09go you all right back here what's wrong
206. 8:12I don't know it you don't know it that's
207. 8:14okay do as much as you can okay I want
208. 8:16you to try for as much as you can don't
209. 8:17worry about it here we go it's not fun
210. 8:20for everyone when you go into an
211. 8:22audition they're going to look you up
212. 8:23and down and say yes yes no thank you
213. 8:26you can leave yes yes maybe and whis
214. 8:29about you right in front of you girls
215. 8:31this is a chance of a lifetime yes there
216. 8:33are any second chances the very first
217. 8:36impression is the most important do you
218. 8:38understand yes all right let's give it
219. 8:41to them have fun keep

222. 8:55number we had I think 16 counts to
223. 8:58improv which which was very good because
224. 9:01Abby had prepped
225. 9:02us I pulled out all my tricks and I feel
226. 9:06like I kind of saved

228. 9:19myself Yay good job guys so when the
229. 9:23auditions are over Julie Mcdonald the
230. 9:25owner of MSA wants to see our girls
231. 9:28individually as a group group but she
232. 9:29wants just them to come back in and talk
233. 9:31with them which is amazing in its own
234. 9:34right hi everybody I'm Julie Mcdonald
235. 9:37and I'm the co-owner of MSA McDonald
236. 9:41sesnick Associates so we've seen a lot
237. 9:44of dancers come through our agency one
238. 9:47thing that you're learning about is that
239. 9:49rejection it's a huge part of the
240. 9:51business and you just have to keep going
241. 9:53[Music]
242. 9:57right one thing that you're learning
243. 9:59about is that rejection it's a huge part
244. 10:02of the business here we are in Los
245. 10:03Angeles California seeing the best
246. 10:06agents in the world for all of my
247. 10:08students this is the biggest opportunity
248. 10:10they have ever had in their career
249. 10:12there's a number of things that we look
250. 10:13for when we have an audition it's not
251. 10:15always about dance technique and all of
252. 10:18those sorts of things there's a
253. 10:19commercial aspect that we look for dance
254. 10:22ability and your presence and how you
255. 10:24adapt as we always say as you walk in
256. 10:26from the very first moment into the
257. 10:28audition we do take
258. 10:31notice but we do have amazing news for
259. 10:34all of you ladies and that is that
260. 10:35there's a new and upcoming pop star that
261. 10:38has a music video coming up and they're
262. 10:39looking for a girl dance group and we
263. 10:41all think that you ladies would be
264. 10:42perfect for
265. 10:45[Music]
266. 10:49that and thank you so
267. 10:53much wait wait wait wait wait wait I get
268. 10:55my 10% back up you know here we are in
269. 10:58Hollywood there's ups and downs and MSA
270. 11:02told the kids that they would be
271. 11:03starring in a music video all of them
272. 11:07they went ballistic they were screaming
273. 11:09and yelling I was screaming and yelling
274. 11:11it was like we won the lottery it was
275. 11:13amazing we didn't make
276. 11:19[Music]
277. 11:21it I normally don't get very excited
278. 11:24about things but being in a music video
279. 11:26is pretty exciting
280. 11:29we're on a music video with a pop
281. 11:33star I think it's really great that
282. 11:36they're going to be in a music video and
283. 11:37dancing when other people see my
284. 11:39daughter dance in a music video they're
285. 11:41going to see how good she really is and
286. 11:44she can really act so I think this is
287. 11:46going to bring a lot of opportunities
288. 11:47for the kids let's get our clothes on I
289. 11:50think you should keep your numbers in
290. 11:51your scrapbooks for the rest of your
291. 11:52life so you have them all right come on
292. 11:54let's get our bags let's go
293. 12:00they have to learn the choreography for
294. 12:02this video fast I mean like right now on
295. 12:04the spot all that practicing and
296. 12:06learning those numbers overnight is
297. 12:08going to pay

300. 12:16my name is s Williams and I am a record
301. 12:18producer and the reason I'm here today
302. 12:21is because we're going to be making a
303. 12:23music video for one of our new artists
304. 12:25by the name of Lux with every great
305. 12:27video you need a great team my man ray
306. 12:28over is going to tell you a little bit
307. 12:30about
308. 12:31himself hi guys I've heard so many great
309. 12:34things about you guys I don't know do
310. 12:36any of you guys watch Shake It Up
311. 12:37Victorious Okay cool so I'm on both of
312. 12:40those shows and you guys are going to
313. 12:41have long days and it's going to be
314. 12:43something like you've never done before
315. 12:44you're going to have to do an onscreen
316. 12:46test for makeup and for hair and then on
317. 12:48the day of the shoot I'm going to get to
318. 12:51select just one of you who's going to
319. 12:54get to be the star of this video so uh
320. 12:57you girls up for it yeah yeah awesome
321. 13:00the bar is set the stakes are raised
322. 13:01because one child gets to be the lead so
323. 13:04of course there's that internal
324. 13:05competition between us because who
325. 13:07doesn't want their kid to be the Star
326. 13:08Ray whip into shape all righty we'll see
327. 13:11you in a little bit good luck we'll do I
328. 13:14want to be the lead in this video so bad
329. 13:17I would like to make it big in Hollywood
330. 13:19and be the featured one in a music video
331. 13:22my first music video I hope I get chosen
332. 13:25because I just like like being the lead

336. 13:40look at the boy on four and make eye

361. 14:42in a professional atmosphere and they
362. 14:44need to pull it together on the day of
363. 14:47the video shoot we have the boys coming
364. 14:48in we still have to see the set the
365. 14:51director's going to be there he's going
366. 14:52to be giving us New Direction so I
367. 14:54really need you to know these lyrics and
368. 14:55these dance moves right in the first
369. 14:57thing of the morning of the video shoot

375. 15:09test for the music video so we went to
376. 15:10the salon and got our nails and tested
377. 15:13out our hair and tested out our makeup
378. 15:15it was totally awesome I think big
379. 15:19either have like a high ponytail with a
380. 15:22like a lot of volume I hope I get chosen
381. 15:24as the lead because I'm more of an
382. 15:27actress how are the Nails doing great
383. 15:30that amazing that choreographer was
384. 15:33awesome me McKenzie yeah they're going
385. 15:35to need to work on that all
386. 15:37week I'm not worried about Maddie
387. 15:39because she can handle all the rehearsal
388. 15:41time and all the practice McKenzie on
389. 15:43the other hand she can't handle all the
390. 15:45long hours so I definitely am a little
391. 15:47concerned about her and they're going to
392. 15:49dance with boys I think that's cute that
393. 15:50they're going to but I'm confused
394. 15:52because the artist is like in her 20s
395. 15:54why does she want like a little clip in
396. 15:55her video I don't know

399. 16:03somebody gets to be the lead in the
400. 16:05music video and I think it would be
401. 16:07really cool to be the lead all the crazy
402. 16:10talk from Abby about learning a new

446. 18:06really it's about having that it Factor
447. 18:08you think that she has the it factor
448. 18:11that you're
449. 18:12saying she definitely has talent you
450. 18:15know as far as this video is concerned
451. 18:18it all comes down to uh all the things
452. 18:20that need to be there the dancing the
453. 18:22acting we're in LA and I want Maddie to
454. 18:24have the best chance she can to make it
455. 18:26in this business so as her mom I'm going
456. 18:28to do what ever I can do to help

459. 18:39good chance of being the lead in the
460. 18:41music video because I'm the one that
461. 18:43always really practices at the dance
462. 18:45studio and I think it's really important
463. 18:47for me just to practice this music video
464. 18:49by myself because it's a big deal 3 4 S
465. 18:53swag 7even 8 2 3 4 and walk six we don't
466. 18:58really do hip hop in our dance studio
467. 19:00but I think I'm just going to keep
468. 19:01trying so that might help me get the
469. 19:04main part up and in walk walk three step

473. 19:16for someone who can really Act somebody
474. 19:18who's really going to be you know
475. 19:21animated and believable on camera so I
476. 19:24set up a meeting for Chloe with one of
477. 19:25the best acting coaches in La Howard
478. 19:27fine if if if your goal is really to be
479. 19:29an actress you have to have this open
480. 19:32heart so we're going to explore a little
481. 19:34bit emotional recall can you remember
482. 19:36the saddest day of your life what that
483. 19:38would
484. 19:39be I think when my great-grandfather
485. 19:43died cuz I had a very good relationship
486. 19:45with him do you remember that day mhm
487. 19:48tell me about
488. 19:51it I don't know my M my mind was kind of
489. 19:54just blank
490. 19:56there I'm having a hard time getting the
491. 19:58emot
492. 19:59and I'm having a hard time expressing
493. 20:01myself to him so as an actress this is
494. 20:03what it's all about contacting real
495. 20:06sources he really made her look inside
496. 20:09herself and it became very introspective
497. 20:12and I don't think that's what Chloe
498. 20:14envisioned an acting class to be like do
499. 20:17you consider yourself the number one
500. 20:18dancer in the
501. 20:20company there's another girl that's
502. 20:23pretty good her name is Maddie I think
503. 20:26we're maybe like better ones in the
504. 20:29group good what stops you from going for
505. 20:32number
506. 20:33one nothing I guess what's that nothing
507. 20:37nothing stops you from going for number
508. 20:39one I have a feeling you stop
509. 20:42yourself and it could be because you're
510. 20:44s sensitive little girl that you think
511. 20:46about how the others might be hurt does
512. 20:48that make sense yes okay you have to
513. 20:50understand that your success doesn't
514. 20:52hurt anybody else Mr fine said when I
515. 20:55walk in there pretend like I already
516. 20:56have the lead character and be is really
517. 20:59confident so Chloe I want you not to be
518. 21:02afraid to
519. 21:03be strong you have to stop beating
520. 21:07yourself up and and doubting yourself
521. 21:09Chloe has really been struggling with
522. 21:11her confidence lately and personally I
523. 21:13think it has a lot to do with Abby
524. 21:14constantly yelling at her and berating
525. 21:16her I think if she could get comfortable
526. 21:18in her own skin she could totally pull
527. 21:20this off absolutely all right thank you
528. 21:23so much thank you
529. 21:28when the girls are busy rehearsing it's
530. 21:30like an opportunity for us moms to get
531. 21:32out and see the town I feel bad for the
532. 21:34girls cuz it's us moms are always out
533. 21:36having fun while they're busy rehearsing
534. 21:37I'm just excited that our girls are
535. 21:39finally getting to do something that
536. 21:40Abby doesn't determine who the star
537. 21:42is I I am and I mean I'm not going to
538. 21:46beat around the bush I think all of us
539. 21:47are sitting here hoping it's our kids
540. 21:49because they're so used to
541. 21:50Abby guarante will be mine I actually
542. 21:54went out to coffee with um seven the
543. 21:56other day
544. 22:01oh did you oh so I'm assuming since you
545. 22:05met with him for lunch is Maddie the
546. 22:07star no no no no no no not at all that's
547. 22:10not playing by the rules I would never
548. 22:11think to go with the producer because I
549. 22:13think of playing by the rules playing by
550. 22:15the rules why isn't not playing by the
551. 22:16rules because it's going above and
552. 22:18beyond what the rest of us
553. 22:20do I don't think that at all of course
554. 22:22Melissa met with the producer 7 it's
555. 22:24Maddie we're talking about she would do
556. 22:26anything to make sure Maddie got the
557. 22:27starring roll have an advantage of
558. 22:30Ro Christy says I don't play by the
559. 22:32rules what rules this is Hollywood this
560. 22:34is an ABY Lee Dance Company I'll do
561. 22:36whatever I want I don't answer to her I
562. 22:38don't know that's why Maddie gets
563. 22:40ahead and I'm really naive CU I think if
564. 22:42you just go to an audition you get
565. 22:44picked based on your audition once again
566. 22:47it's not an even playing field this is
567. 22:48what we've been dealing with all season
568. 22:50and frankly this is what we've been
569. 22:51dealing with for years so you know I
570. 22:54went into this thinking that my daughter
571. 22:56had at least a chance and at this point
572. 22:58of course she doesn't have a chance I
573. 23:00didn't take the director out for you
574. 23:01know cocktail so those connection
575. 23:05relationship Melissa I'm done I'm done
576. 23:07excuse me don't talk to me that way
577. 23:09that's the first thing Melissa I'm done

602. 24:17and the girls are really excited about
603. 24:18that part but it's really adorable thank

608. 24:29I'm a little bit concerned first of all

717. 29:05nerve-racking for the girls when you
718. 29:07have 50 people all Standing There Eyes
719. 29:09on you with cameras and they're kind of
720. 29:10like there's not just three judges it's
721. 29:1340 judges plus all of us and your
722. 29:15competition sitting there watching what
723. 29:17you're doing we

777. 31:26different levels to this there's not
778. 31:28only your your dance ability but your
779. 31:30acting ability and then it comes down to
780. 31:32a certain essence or quality of course
781. 31:35every girl wants the lead in this but we
782. 31:38all pretty much know that Maddie will
783. 31:39get it and naturally kids are going to
784. 31:41be jealous it's just a natural thing for
785. 31:44this particular role we need to find
786. 31:46someone that that that comes as close to
787. 31:49looking like Lux and feeling like Lux as
788. 31:51as possible Chloe's nervous a lot she
789. 31:54tells me she doesn't have
790. 31:55self-confidence I have a lot of
791. 31:57confidence
792. 31:58and I think I have a good chance of
793. 32:00being the lead for those reasons uh and
794. 32:03based on your talent and your combined
795. 32:04efforts at the end of the day we have to
796. 32:06make a decision about what's going to be
797. 32:08best for the
798. 32:12video for this particular role we need
799. 32:15to find someone that comes as close to
800. 32:17looking like Lux and feeling like Lux at
801. 32:20the end of the day we have to make a

803. 32:23for the video I think my biggest
804. 32:25competition for the music video is

817. 33:09video I was so happy for my daughter

821. 33:21was a pretty good fun okay the boys are

823. 33:277 announces that Chloe got the lead
824. 33:29christe of course was so happy and we
825. 33:32were happy too because I want all the
826. 33:34girls to get a chance I know this wasn't
827. 33:37on their dance ability at all because my
828. 33:39daughter would have made it to the top I
829. 33:42don't ever cry or anything like some
830. 33:44other people do if they don't get the
831. 33:46lead part I am happy for the other girls
832. 33:49and I'm happy for me

866. 35:20dancing the entire time so some agent is
867. 35:23going to see her dance and they're going
868. 35:25to snatch her up

878. 35:55not as hard as Abby is on our kids they
879. 35:57still want her approval and so for me
880. 36:01this wasn't about Abby and it wasn't
881. 36:03about Christie it was about Chloe and
882. 36:07her getting back some of that sparkle
883. 36:09that I think she's lost we have the same
884. 36:15s all right let's go get out there come
885. 36:17on they chose Chloe after it was all
886. 36:19said and done I think they made the
887. 36:21right choice I was very happy for Chloe
888. 36:24actually I was thrilled for her because
889. 36:25this is a whole new thing this is a very
890. 36:28very cool opportunity for this young
891. 36:31lady cut no matter which way you sliced
892. 36:34it no matter who has talent and who
893. 36:36doesn't Lux and Chloe were the perfect
894. 36:39match it's like summer it's a new feel

896. 36:49the past I've lacked confidence but I
897. 36:52think that from the music video till
898. 36:56forever um have more confidence than I
