3. 0:05monster hunter
4. 0:07the monster hunter movie
5. 0:10what is the title of this thing i want
6. 0:12to say monster hunter world but that's
7. 0:14the game
8. 0:15anyway we're talking about monster
9. 0:16hunter so go ahead and grab yourself
10. 0:18some coffee sit back relax and
11. 0:20let's get into it shall we

13. 0:40and yeah monster hunter has gotten
14. 0:42itself into a bit of trouble over in the
15. 0:44chinese market
16. 0:45okay so if you've been living under a
17. 0:47rock there's this monster hunter
18. 0:49movie or this monster hunter movie
19. 0:50coming out and i'm kind of excited for
20. 0:52it
21. 0:52right um i don't expect it to be
22. 0:56you know a direct representation of the
23. 1:00games
24. 1:01at all right uh i don't know we we've
25. 1:03seen things like this before and it's
26. 1:05it's monster hunter i mean you kill
27. 1:07monsters
28. 1:08you break them you you cut them up you
29. 1:11take their parts and you make weapons
30. 1:12and stuff
31. 1:13uh so you know yeah anyway
32. 1:17i i can't sit there and say like i'm
33. 1:19this huge fan of monster hunter i do
34. 1:21enjoy it especially monster hunter world
35. 1:23um
36. 1:24i've tried picking it up in the past and
37. 1:28i can pick up the console versions but i
38. 1:30i when it moved to handheld only for
39. 1:32a good chunk of time i was unable to
40. 1:35really get into it because i
41. 1:36really really really needed that twin
42. 1:38stick uh
43. 1:40functionality and what it was releasing
44. 1:43for
45. 1:43at the time and stuff just didn't really
46. 1:45have it right
47. 1:47um you know you had the wii and you had
48. 1:50the ds versions and
49. 1:51and stuff and the psp
50. 1:54and vita or whatever and you just didn't
51. 1:58really have that functionality so when
52. 1:59it came back to consoles
53. 2:01and the pc and i was able to actually
54. 2:03use a real controller for it
55. 2:05you know like twin stick controllers
56. 2:08uh it was so much better right uh it
57. 2:12really got me into the games again and i
58. 2:14really really did enjoy it and there's a
59. 2:16story there uh you know there was an
60. 2:18entire world crafted around monster
61. 2:20hunter and i'm not going to sit here and
62. 2:21pretend to
63. 2:22know exactly what's going on this that
64. 2:24and the other but you know you've got
65. 2:26all these monsters and these elder
66. 2:27dragons and all this other stuff
67. 2:30and it all is a cohesive thing
68. 2:33moving it into a movie um
69. 2:36that that might be a little bit
70. 2:38different i'm not sure how
71. 2:40how they were planning to do it but
72. 2:42according to uh
73. 2:43you know from what i've been reading
74. 2:45about recently it is
75. 2:47you you've got some some uh soldiers or
76. 2:50something that have fallen into a portal
77. 2:52who have wound up
78. 2:53in this this particular world and
79. 2:55they're i guess
80. 2:56trying to survive or whatnot right and
81. 2:59there's
82. 2:59a bit of controversy because why not
83. 3:02there is i think this movie
84. 3:04personally will be just a fun hack and
85. 3:06slash um
86. 3:07providing that the writing isn't that
87. 3:09bad
88. 3:11that that's that's the only big issue i
89. 3:13have um
90. 3:14you know it's really hard to get into a
91. 3:16movie when the writing and stuff is just
92. 3:18so bad and there's no real
93. 3:19ex explanation or anything um
94. 3:23what is it we tried watching a movie
95. 3:24just recently and it had a bruce willis
96. 3:27in it
97. 3:28and uh i think it's hard to kill or
98. 3:30something or hard shot or something like
99. 3:31that right
100. 3:33and i'm a huge bruce willis fan so
101. 3:36naturally
102. 3:36me and co saw bruce willis and was like
103. 3:39oh sweet
104. 3:40let's watch this we haven't finished
105. 3:42that movie
106. 3:44i'm not exactly sure what the heck is
107. 3:46going on right uh
108. 3:49you know you've got these people in
109. 3:50there and they've been hired to
110. 3:52protect somebody and then that somebody
111. 3:55just takes them out to the abandoned
112. 3:57area
113. 3:58and then the bad guy shows up and
114. 4:01i'm not 100 sure what the heck is going
115. 4:03on
116. 4:04um it just really does feel like a lazy
117. 4:08written shooter and
118. 4:12you know at least with something like
119. 4:15die hard there was something to follow
120. 4:18and you knew what was going on with the
121. 4:20action and everything else this one they
122. 4:21just
123. 4:23you know they get hired for this thing
124. 4:24there's a lot of money involved
125. 4:26you know everybody meets in a bar and
126. 4:28they're like okay sure why not one
127. 4:31one less gig blah blah blah this that
128. 4:33and the other then they're at the gig
129. 4:34and and you know it's all because
130. 4:38big bad has you know bruce's daughter or
131. 4:41whatever
132. 4:42and and you know using him as
133. 4:45bait and it just felt lazy
134. 4:49right uh that's what i'm what i'm
135. 4:51getting at so as long as this
136. 4:52isn't lazy like that you know i think
137. 4:55the movie won't be that bad
138. 4:57at all but there's an issue the
139. 5:01controversy it's apparently a 10 second
140. 5:03long
141. 5:03uh a clip that somehow insults china
142. 5:07and i scouring the freaking interwebs
143. 5:10for this
144. 5:11so uh let's let's hope we don't get
145. 5:14copyrighted or anything so i'm gonna try
146. 5:16and cover it up
147. 5:17uh maybe put something on here during
148. 5:20editing or whatnot to sort of
149. 5:22uh kind of slightly cover up
150. 5:25uh of the stuff but we'll hear the
151. 5:27actual
152. 5:28joke uh when we get to it but uh
153. 5:31you know it has caused a review bomb to
154. 5:33apparently happen
155. 5:34on uh monster hunter world of course
156. 5:37from china
157. 5:38you know it's china they they can go get
158. 5:42bent for all i care i'm not a huge fan
159. 5:44anyway um but yeah
160. 5:48there's that's that's the thing that's
161. 5:50happening
162. 5:51so uh we're not gonna go too much
163. 5:53further
164. 5:54let's let's look at the clip real quick
165. 5:56shall we because this
166. 5:57this this is the clip that has everybody
167. 6:01up in arms and i'm honestly not sure
168. 6:04what the heck is going on either
169. 6:06they're talking about knees right um so
170. 6:09it's completely out of context it's
171. 6:11about 10 seconds
172. 6:14but yeah well this this is what
173. 6:16everybody is up in arms about
174. 6:19um you know i was reading through things
175. 6:22and uh
176. 6:23you know some stuff was talking about
177. 6:25how it said
178. 6:26uh or yeah anyway
179. 6:30that's that's that's the thing that
180. 6:31that's it chinese knees
181. 6:33anyway um no but seriously i was reading
182. 6:36through some articles right and they
183. 6:38were
184. 6:39they they had said something like dirty
185. 6:41needs
186. 6:42and quotations and i just don't quite
187. 6:45understand the reference apparently it's
188. 6:47some kind of racial
189. 6:48slur and you know i i've heard
190. 6:51several different kinds of slurs in my
191. 6:53time
192. 6:55that one is not one i have ever heard so
193. 6:58i don't know
194. 6:59and considering with the way certain
195. 7:02people out there have just sort of done
196. 7:04things
197. 7:04and taken things to where just about
198. 7:07anything that you say
199. 7:08is apparently some kind of slur this way
200. 7:11or
201. 7:12another these days it's hard to tell
202. 7:14what is actually was a slur and what
203. 7:16wasn't a slur and all this other stuff
204. 7:18but according to that clip you know he
205. 7:21says what kind of knees are these
206. 7:23the chinese knees and it's like that
207. 7:26makes
208. 7:26no sense whatsoever to me i have no idea
209. 7:29what that even
210. 7:30means or what that was going on about
211. 7:33um or or anything i mean dirty knees
212. 7:37sounds more better because uh you know
213. 7:40if we're talking about a couple of
214. 7:42soldiers and you know they're used to
215. 7:44climbing through the muck and the
216. 7:46the the drudge and the mud and all this
217. 7:49other stuff and the sand and everything
218. 7:51and their knees are dirty and you know
219. 7:53in that kind of context with military
220. 7:55and other stuff it makes more sense to
221. 7:57me right
222. 7:58chinese news not so much i i feel like
223. 8:01that's just
224. 8:02some kind of a reference to put china in
225. 8:04there
226. 8:05because as we all know a lot of films
227. 8:09recently really
228. 8:10really really like to you know uh
229. 8:14reference china and stuff from like
230. 8:16pacific rim to other
231. 8:17other movies out there where they just
232. 8:20sort of
233. 8:21reference that sort of stuff uh you know
234. 8:23to give a good light on it because uh
235. 8:25you know china is the market you want to
236. 8:27be in
237. 8:28uh the strange strange strange thing
238. 8:31about all of this
239. 8:32is the fact that it made it through the
240. 8:33ccp's uh
241. 8:35you know thing right this movie is being
242. 8:38put out by 10 cent
243. 8:40and you know when it comes to anything
244. 8:42over in china that it has to be
245. 8:44scrutinized
246. 8:44very very very in-depth scrutinization
247. 8:49because uh you know the ccp won't let
248. 8:52you make fun of things when it comes to
249. 8:54china and stuff so you know when
250. 8:56the the guy who leads it what's his name
251. 8:58winnie the pooh um
252. 9:00anyway you know when you make references
253. 9:03like that they get all up in arms and
254. 9:05stuff and that's why they have the great
255. 9:07firewall
256. 9:08and all that good stuff uh you know
257. 9:10because you can't make fun of them
258. 9:11or anything because they don't like that
259. 9:14um
260. 9:14whether that is somehow a joke that's
261. 9:18derogatory
262. 9:19torture the ccp i don't know i don't
263. 9:22quite understand
264. 9:23what what what is going on there um
265. 9:28but yeah that that's that's seems to be
266. 9:30what has happened here
267. 9:33uh yeah uh so monster hunter world is
268. 9:36being review bombed because of a
269. 9:39a joke about chinese knees and now
270. 9:42you know china's up in arms and they're
271. 9:45going to probably censor that 10 second
272. 9:47clip out of the actual movie when it
273. 9:50moves everywhere else
274. 9:51it's releasing december 25th i honest
275. 9:54i i don't know what to expect honestly
276. 9:57um
277. 9:58i'll probably wait for it to hit netflix
278. 10:00before i actually watch it
279. 10:02or rent it from the red box one of the
280. 10:04two
281. 10:05for a dollar but uh yeah let me know
