- 0:00I have a question. Having a good summer?
- 0:04Did you know that it's almost over?
- 0:07Almost as relative. You got a few more
- 0:09days left. Well, how many of you like
- 0:12asking questions? Yeah. I like to think
- 0:16about questions, but I don't necessarily
- 0:18want to always ask them. But there's
- 0:21somebody in the Bible who got a lot of
- 0:23questions. And I bet you can guess who
- 0:25it was. Jesus. He got a lot of
- 0:29questions. Some of them were from his
- 0:31followers where they really just wanted
- 0:33to know what do you mean when you say
- 0:35this. But then there were some questions
- 0:37that were tricky like who do you love
- 0:41more, Mary or Joseph? I'm just kidding.
- 0:44That wasn't a question they asked.
- 0:48There was a man who asked Jesus,
- 0:51"What is the greatest commandment?" And
- 0:54you know what? That guy who asked that
- 0:56question, he already knew. Did you know
- 0:58that? He already knew the answer. But
- 1:01what Jesus said, it came all the way
- 1:04back from the time of Moses. When you
- 1:06hear the name Moses, what do you think?
- 1:10What do you think? Do you think about
- 1:13Egypt, the Red Sea going like this, or
- 1:17do you think about Ten Commandments? I
- 1:20think about Ten Commandments. So Jesus
- 1:22said the greatest commandment. Wait, did
- 1:26I say what he asked the question was? He
- 1:29did. Okay, good. Sometimes I forget what
- 1:31I just said.
- 1:33Jesus said, "The greatest commandment is
- 1:35to love the Lord your God with all your
- 1:38heart, your mind, and your strength."
- 1:40And then he added part two, which says
- 1:42to love your neighbor as yourself.
- 1:46Now, who gives commands?
- 1:49Jesus gives commands. Do you know
- 1:51anybody like now in the world that gives
- 1:54commands?
- 2:00What about Yes, Elisha.
- 2:03God gives commands. Yes, Ellis.
- 2:06Parents give commands. Yes. What about a
- 2:10king or a queen? Do they give commands?
- 2:13Maybe. You don't know. What about a
- 2:15general or um a high ranking officer to
- 2:19the people underneath him? Would he give
- 2:20commands or she? Yeah. Okay. Commands
- 2:25sounds like a funny word. Does it feel
- 2:27like a good word or does it feel like a
- 2:28not good word? Not good word. Not good
- 2:32word. Okay. I feel the same way. I'm a
- 2:34little confused. Is a command a good
- 2:36thing or a bad thing? When God gives a
- 2:39command,
- 2:41it has two forms.
- 2:44Good
- 2:46and strong.
- 2:49Do you guys know what the word oobleck
- 2:52is?
- 2:54oobleck. Do you guys know what the word
- 2:56oobleck is? It's fun. Can we say it?
- 3:00>> It's a substance. It's mixed of equal
- 3:02parts cornstarch and water and it makes
- 3:06this kind of like slimy liquidy texture.
- 3:08And when I was talking to God the other
- 3:10day, I said, "God, what is your command
- 3:13like?" And I just heard the word
- 3:14oobleck. And I just started laughing
- 3:16because God, what are you talking about?
- 3:19How are commands like oobleck? This
- 3:21substance when you hit it with force, it
- 3:24turns firm. But if you just let it sit
- 3:26in your hand, nice and soft, it just
- 3:28kind of oozes gently down. And I went,
- 3:32that's exactly what God's commandments
- 3:34are like. They're firm with force, but
- 3:37also gentle. And I thought, that is so
- 3:40amazing, God. You're awesome. Thank you
- 3:42for showing me that. So when you receive
- 3:46a commandment from your parents, know
- 3:48that they have to give it some force
- 3:50because you maybe won't hear them, but
- 3:52they're saying it with love because
- 3:54they're learning that from God. God
- 3:56teaches parents his commandments and
- 3:59then we teach you got to follow the
- 4:01rules even though it feels a little
- 4:05uncomfortable. All right. Thank you for
- 4:08listening to my message. Do you have any
- 4:10questions for me?
- 4:13I know I just opened the floor to a
- 4:15whole can of worms here, but you guys
- 4:17are looking at me so intently like
- 4:19you're listening and you're thinking and
- 4:21something's about to come out any
- 4:23second. All right, if you do have
- 4:24questions, save them for later. We do
- 4:27not have splash today, but if you would
- 4:29like to go to Miss NY's, I will have
- 4:31somebody take you. But we're going to
- 4:33have some time of worship. So, why don't
- 4:35you guys go back to where you are? Were
- 4:38were was I know how to say words.
