ChatGPT Feels Generic? Custom Instructions Fix That — Transcript

- 0:00In this video, I going to show you on
- 0:02how to get better outputs from your AI.
- 0:05But first, I think people should know
- 0:08what to do to get it to be better. And I
- 0:12don't mean better puppet. I mean people
- 0:15should learn on how to use AI better and
- 0:19not just a generic esseric
- 0:24copy and paste machine because if you do
- 0:26that humans will be dumber and as race
- 0:31we shouldn't be doing that we should be
- 0:33enhancing ourselves with it. What I mean
- 0:35by this is let's say you're doing a
- 0:37report for a boss or for a teacher and
- 0:41you you ask for a report about the topic
- 0:45and you hand it in. Do you learn
- 0:47anything? No, you do not. But you can
- 0:49say I am going on A, B, C. Am I correct?
- 0:56And you can come back say no you're not
- 0:58correct with A and C. Here's why. Or
- 1:04um you can person can ask like help me
- 1:08understand this better for essay. It
- 1:11will help you understand the topic
- 1:13better and you learn something new and
- 1:16you get you can get much better quality
- 1:19output from it. What I mean by this is
- 1:22my rating is not good at all. I use AI
- 1:25to assist me with my rating just general
- 1:27rating. I don't mean anything special
- 1:30like emails, text messages, so on and so
- 1:33forth. So I use that in that way but
- 1:37I ask it to use it keep my voice or to
- 1:42fix the errors and only sometimes only
- 1:46do that because if I say fix the errors
- 1:49it can make up new stuff for me. I don't
- 1:53want that. I just want my my waiting to
- 1:56be better. So I ask it to keep my voice
- 1:59and and just fix the errors. It will do
- 2:03that. Just fix it errors and keep my
- 2:05voice. But if I want if my
- 2:10ideas are all over the place, which they
- 2:12were earlier today, which is uh February
- 2:1619th for 2026 for future benefits, but I
- 2:20was uh all replaced with my thoughts. I
- 2:23asked it to
- 2:26what can you clean this up and make it
- 2:28more make it more make more sense about
- 2:31this and it did. So that's another way
- 2:34of you using AI and getting better
- 2:36outpost. But for me to show you the demo
- 2:39that I'm going to be showing you today I
- 2:41want to turn over to my desktop and I go
- 2:44and use CH GPT and custom instructions
- 2:47for this demo. Anyway, see you in a
- 2:51second.
- 2:54Welcome back with my desktop. At the top
- 2:57you can see you need to go to jutch
- 3:01chatgpt.com
- 3:04and then you get this showing up and
- 3:07after you put in a message
- 3:11and in this case I put in who am I? It
- 3:14gives me a very generic question answer
- 3:17because it at this point I turn off the
- 3:20features that I won't show you in a
- 3:22moment but it doesn't know me from Joe
- 3:25or Jane or any or human being Ben. So
- 3:28they give me a very generic question. So
- 3:31answer which is fine. I only gave it who
- 3:35I am and it has to draw from the sources
- 3:39that it knows. So
- 3:42um after you how you change that you can
- 3:45go to the bottom corner
- 3:49that I have in square and red and that's
- 3:52your profile. After you click that you
- 3:55can go to personalization
- 3:58and uh a window will pop up says
- 4:01personalization.
- 4:02From here you can update your
- 4:04preferences. Like if you really want to,
- 4:07you can go change the tone
- 4:11and the style, how warm it is, how after
- 4:14the fact is, how how heard and written,
- 4:18how much emojis, and so on. But we're
- 4:22interested in custom instructions.
- 4:25So when you get here, you can put in
- 4:29what you want to say in this box that I
- 4:32have the arrow pointed to. And when you
- 4:36you can scroll down even more and will
- 4:41say about you. You can put your name,
- 4:44what occupation, and any more about you.
- 4:48like
- 4:49uh for me I like keep stuff short and
- 4:53sweet sometimes. However, times I don't,
- 4:56but that's another video. Anyway, you
- 4:59can fill those out as you wish. And you
- 5:01go to memories and this is a built-in
- 5:04memory feature where you don't have to
- 5:08have it um don't have to always tell it
- 5:12who you are, what you're trying to do,
- 5:14so on and so forth. So, I have that
- 5:17turned off because if I have it turned
- 5:18on, it knows me and that would not be a
- 5:21very good demo. But I'll show you after
- 5:24I turn it on and
- 5:26fill out my custom instructions a little
- 5:29bit. I'll show you the difference.
- 5:31Anyway, if you want to have event
- 5:34features, by all means, you can turn
- 5:36them on or turn them off. I have them
- 5:39all on. I figure it's benefit to have it
- 5:41all on especially for people who are um
- 5:45learning disabled or have dyslexia
- 5:49voice enabled is a good feature because
- 5:53you can have it talk back to you with a
- 5:56corrective button. No other software
- 5:59need it and that includes the free
- 6:02version. So it's very helpful. Anyway,
- 6:06moving on. So after I updated my
- 6:10instructions, it has given me this
- 6:13output. You can pause it and read it.
- 6:16Um, basically it knows who I am, what
- 6:19I'm trying to do,
- 6:21uh, so on and so forth. And like I said,
- 6:24you can pause it and read it. But what I
- 6:27have changed is went back to where I was
- 6:30and updated it for my custom
- 6:33instructions and my nickname.
- 6:36And again, you can pause this if you
- 6:39want to copy it. By all means, you can,
- 6:41but
- 6:43anyway,
- 6:45um, you can do that, fill it out. There
- 6:48is other instructions you can put in. I
- 6:51just use that for this is very this is
- 6:55for this demonstration but you can put
- 6:57in
- 6:58um
- 7:00your nickname whatever you want to call
- 7:02yourself
- 7:03um instructions like you can take out
- 7:06the M dashes you can ask for longer
- 7:09outputs you can ask for shorter outputs
- 7:11you can ask to talk about a 5-year-old
- 7:15so on and so forth if I can cover you if
- 7:17people want me to cover more styles of
- 7:21custom instructions.
- 7:24Please read them in the please leave a
- 7:27comment saying I want to know more
- 7:29custom instructions in the comments. And
- 7:31this leads me to ask you to like, share
- 7:35and subscribe to my channel. And if you
- 7:38find it helpful again, share it and like
- 7:42it. It will greatly help me grow this
- 7:45channel. And I think it's important to
- 7:49do this because I'm showing new new
- 7:52people how to use AI and also people who
- 7:55are neo divergent
- 7:57or think differently. So
- 8:01what if you can help me spread the word
- 8:03that would be great. Anyway, back to
- 8:05what I was trying to show you. Uh like I
- 8:09said, I turn filled my custom
- 8:12instructions and put in my name and also
- 8:17I have turned on uh my memory. I don't
- 8:20have a screenshot for that. But if I go
- 8:24over to the internet
- 8:28and go to
- 8:30p my
- 8:33my personalizations I have turn on the
- 8:35memories so I know it's who I am what
- 8:38I'm trying to achieve so on and so
- 8:40forth. When I turn them off I can do
- 8:44that right now.
- 8:46It's a very quick I can put in who am I.
- 8:53It should give me a
- 8:56at times it gives me two options
- 9:00but
- 9:01as you can see it gives me a very basic
- 9:07um instructions. It knows my name
- 9:09because I told it my name. But beyond
- 9:12that, it's kind of generic. Both editors
- 9:17are very generic. So when memories turn
- 9:20on, it knows who I am, what I'm trying
- 9:22to do. When memory is turned off, it
- 9:25knows my name and I'm trying to make a
- 9:27YouTube video and stationation. So
- 9:30that's the difference. So if you are
- 9:33using chutpt for a while and you do not
- 9:36have that turned on, I would recommend
- 9:39you turn it on. If you're new, I would
- 9:42recommend you to turn on so you get
- 9:45better outputs and over time it will get
- 9:49learn about you. There is other software
- 9:52that I can show you that gives you more
- 9:56context uh availability, but
- 9:59this is the most accessible that I know
- 10:03of that you that you can do today and
- 10:07for very low cost almost I think you can
- 10:09do it for free. I do have a paid plan,
- 10:13but there's no
- 10:16paid barrier here for this kind of uh um
- 10:21making it better for you to get better
- 10:23outputs. You just need to know about the
- 10:25feature and know how to use it. And I
- 10:28think I covered that well. But again, if
- 10:30you want to have more Excel on how what
- 10:35you can put into your custom
- 10:36instructions, please put in I want to
- 10:39know more about custom instructions and
- 10:41I can make a video about that. Anyway, I
- 10:44will head over back to my myself on my
- 10:48talking head bit to close it out.
- 10:51So as you can see it's very it can be
- 10:54very straightforward or you can be very
- 10:56complex on how you get better outputs.
- 10:59But I hope this is a very um you
- 11:03beginner friendly and very new virgin
- 11:06friendly demonstration on how you do do
- 11:09this. Um again if you want to know more
- 11:14just leave a comment and say I want to
- 11:16know more. And if you know anyone who
- 11:20needs to see this or want to see this,
- 11:22please share it. It helps the channel
- 11:24grow more from what you think. And with
- 11:28all that being said, have a great day.
- 11:31Bye.
