- 0:05>> Hey Ally, how are you doing today?
- 0:08>> I'm doing good. How are you?
- 0:10>> Good, good. It's good to see you again.
- 0:13How have things been going since our
- 0:15last check-in?
- 0:17>> Things have been going pretty well. I
- 0:20did um drag one of my friends out to an
- 0:25empty parking lot. She picked me up and
- 0:27we went over there and just did like I
- 0:30think it was like 20 maybe 30 minutes of
- 0:32driving
- 0:34>> and it went pretty well. It was a little
- 0:36nerve-wracking like a little bit but I
- 0:40think like it was a good step.
- 0:43>> Yeah, that's good to hear. Um tell me a
- 0:47bit about how you felt during that um
- 0:49time when you were you were taking those
- 0:52um new steps forward.
- 0:55Um, it felt
- 0:58it felt scary. Like I said, in the first
- 1:01little bit, I was kind of like thinking,
- 1:05should I even be doing this? Like kind
- 1:08of those thoughts were definitely going
- 1:10through my head. But I think having my
- 1:12friend with me, she was like, you know,
- 1:14we can just stop whenever if I want to
- 1:17and even if we just did 5 minutes, then
- 1:19at least I can say that I tried. So that
- 1:22was like really helpful to hear. Um
- 1:27and and I felt very accomplished after
- 1:29doing it.
- 1:30>> Nice. That's excellent.
- 1:34And how about um your um other
- 1:39responsibilities that you are concerned
- 1:42a little bit about by going back to
- 1:44work? Is everything else looking to be
- 1:48getting more um put together and ready
- 1:51for this uh transition of the return to
- 1:55work?
- 1:56>> Um I think in terms of going back to
- 2:00work, I got some good news actually. One
- 2:03of my friends is also going to be coming
- 2:05back to work. I thought she was going to
- 2:06leave, so that was kind of like a a good
- 2:09thing to hear. So, I'm I'm excited to
- 2:12like get back in and talk to people. Um,
- 2:16the whole driving situation is kind of
- 2:18still the same. I mean, I've made some
- 2:21progress, but if you were to tell me
- 2:23like tomorrow I need to go drive myself
- 2:26to work, I don't think I'd be ready to
- 2:28do it. So, but I feel like I could like
- 2:32I feel like there's a light at the end
- 2:33of the tunnel. Like, I feel like I can
- 2:34kind of get there. Um,
- 2:39I think that my slow track has been
- 2:42good, but I think with my husband, he
- 2:45still is kind of like
- 2:48like just kind of pushing me a little
- 2:51bit and he's kind of just like, "Okay,
- 2:53you did it once now. Just go do it."
- 2:57>> That's not That's not great, but at
- 3:01least you still have your friend. Um, is
- 3:04is this uh going to be a routine thing
- 3:06you and your friend do um to to help um
- 3:12continue to to practice and get ready
- 3:14for this?
- 3:15>> Um, we did schedule another time to go
- 3:18out um later this week. So, I don't know
- 3:22if it's like a scheduled thing like
- 3:24weekly or anything, but I know we
- 3:26definitely have another day. I'm trying
- 3:28to get my husband to go with me. Mhm.
- 3:31>> So, we're still working on that.
- 3:34>> Yeah, I'm hearing that that is a little
- 3:36bit um still bothering that that he's
- 3:38not being supportive.
- 3:40>> Yeah, he just he just doesn't understand
- 3:43it.
- 3:45>> Um
- 3:48I feel you and hear you with that.
- 3:52maybe with um your continued
- 3:56progressive um you know steps towards
- 3:59kind of handling this on your own.
- 4:02He'll, you know, turn a new leaf or or
- 4:06even kind of,
- 4:08you know, his frustration might turn
- 4:11into um excitement with you or um praise
- 4:15to you or, you know, join you in the in
- 4:18the achievement that you're making, you
- 4:21know, since it seems like he minimized
- 4:24your feelings a bit and and was a little
- 4:26too pushy.
- 4:28Wonder I wonder what you think about how
- 4:30he might feel with you feeling good
- 4:33about this and those things as you
- 4:35continue.
- 4:37Um,
- 4:40I think he will be like happy for me
- 4:43once I start being able to drive, but I
- 4:46think it will be more like happy that he
- 4:50like finally doesn't have to hear about
- 4:51it anymore and drive me places more
- 4:54instead of like being happy that I've
- 4:57overcome something and I'm more
- 4:59comfortable. I think he just like that
- 5:01lack of understanding is like and then
- 5:04that's why too I want to be able to
- 5:06drive because I don't want to feel like
- 5:07a burden.
- 5:12>> Yeah.
- 5:13Well, I I hear [clears throat] you
- 5:15there. I think um I guess we'll just
- 5:19have to wait and see a little bit how
- 5:20there's doesn't seem like there's a way
- 5:23to predict how he'll react as you
- 5:26progress. But it is good that you're
- 5:29taking your own feelings and and you're
- 5:32talking about them in session and you're
- 5:33also acting upon them um now which is a
- 5:37huge step in um [clears throat]
- 5:40in um this whole process of of you know
- 5:44that that you seem to be on here is um
- 5:46you know taking the action and and
- 5:47[clears throat] that's great super great
- 5:49to hear. So so so happy for you that
- 5:52that you're here happy yourself.
- 5:54>> Yeah. Thanks. I appreciate it. It's
- 5:57taken me a It's taken me a second, but I
- 5:59think I'm getting there.
- 6:01>> Yeah.
- 6:04So,
- 6:06how else has your week been going?
- 6:10Um, my week's been going pretty good. My
- 6:13kids are back to school,
- 6:16so um that's been nice. I've one of my
- 6:20friends is just down a couple houses
- 6:23down, so she's been able to carpool with
- 6:24them. um we'll take them. So, that's
- 6:28been nice. I can kind of like relax at
- 6:31home for a while.
- 6:34>> Are there any um [clears throat]
- 6:36exciting parts about returning to work?
- 6:39Do you have any close friends there that
- 6:41you miss um from back when you used to
- 6:43work there? Um anything look you're
- 6:46looking forward to about that other than
- 6:48the the drive not being something you
- 6:51look forward to?
- 6:52Yeah, I I'm really excited to kind of
- 6:56get dressed up again, like, you know,
- 6:59have to put real clothes on and get out
- 7:01of the house and get into a new
- 7:03environment and be able to kind of
- 7:05chitchat with people. Um, even if it's
- 7:08people I don't know very well, if it's
- 7:10just like kind of like those bland
- 7:13conversations. I feel like I haven't had
- 7:14any of those in a while. So, I'm excited
- 7:16to just kind of have a bit of a change
- 7:19of environment, even though that the
- 7:22getting to the environment scares me a
- 7:24lot. Um, it's it's still something I'm
- 7:27kind of excited to do.
- 7:29>> Mhm. That's good. I'm glad to hear
- 7:33everything's [clears throat] working out
- 7:34and you you're making those changes and
- 7:37you're going to continue this and um and
- 7:39there's also some other things for you
- 7:41to look forward to at work. Uh overall
- 7:44great news and um yeah I think um
- 7:49I think we're almost about to wrap up on
- 7:52time. Um did you have a particular time
- 7:55that you wanted to schedule for the next
- 7:58one or does this time work good for you?
- 8:01>> I think this time and day next week
- 8:03works good for me if it's good with you.
- 8:06Okay, I will jot that down and um
- 8:10look forward to our next session.
- 8:12>> Awesome. Thank you so much. You too.
- 8:15>> Bye.
