5. 0:12AI producing lots of fake news and
6. 0:15distributing it for for a purpose for a
7. 0:17result ladies and gentlemen honourable
8. 0:21colleagues it's my privilege to speak to
9. 0:24you today about the power of Big Data
10. 0:26and psychographics in the electoral
11. 0:28process and specifically to talk about
12. 0:31the work that we contributed to Senator
13. 0:33Cruz's presidential primary campaign
14. 0:35Cayman Deanna Lineker emerged quietly as
15. 0:39a company that according to its own
16. 0:40height has the ability to use this
17. 0:43tremendous amount of data in order to
18. 0:46affect societal change in 2016 they had
19. 0:51three major clients Ted Cruz was one of
20. 0:54them it's easy to forget that only 18
21. 0:56months ago senator Cruz was one of the
22. 0:59less popular candidates seeking
23. 1:01nomination so what was not possible
24. 1:04maybe like 10 or 15 years ago was that
25. 1:07you can send fake news to exactly the
26. 1:10people that you want to send it to and
27. 1:12then you can actually see how he or she
28. 1:14reacts on Facebook and then adjust that
29. 1:17information according to the feedback
30. 1:20that you got and so you can start
31. 1:22developing kind of a real-time
32. 1:24management of a population in this case
33. 1:27we've zoned in on a group we've called
34. 1:29persuasion these are people who are
35. 1:31definitely going to vote to caucus but
36. 1:34they need moving from the center a
37. 1:36little bit more towards the right in
38. 1:38order to support Cruz they need a
39. 1:39persuasion message gun rights I've
40. 1:42selected that narrows the field slightly
41. 1:45more and now we know that we need a
42. 1:47message on gun rights it needs to be a
43. 1:49persuasion message and it needs to be
44. 1:51nuanced according to the certain
45. 1:53personality that we're interested in
46. 1:55through social media there's an infinite
47. 1:58amount of information that you can
48. 2:00gather about a person we have somewhere
49. 2:03close to four or five thousand data
50. 2:05points on every adult in the United
51. 2:07States it's about targeting the
52. 2:09individual it's like
53. 2:12weapon which can be used in the totally
54. 2:14wrong direction that's the problem with
55. 2:16all of this data it's almost as if we
56. 2:18built the bullet before we built the gun
57. 2:21ted cruz employed our data our
58. 2:24behavioral insights he started from a
59. 2:27base of less than 5% and had a very slow
60. 2:31and steady but firm rise to above 35%
61. 2:36making him obviously the second most
62. 2:37threatening contender in the race now
63. 2:39clearly the Cruz campaign is over now
64. 2:42but what I can tell you is that of the
65. 2:45two candidates left left in this
66. 2:47election one of them is using these
67. 2:49technologies Donald John Trump do
68. 2:54solemnly swear that I will faithfully
69. 2:56execute the office of President of the
70. 3:00United States
