  5. 0:08>> Hi everyone, I'm Gilbert Montes,

  12. 0:24what we do without you. Every hour you
  13. 0:27spend helping, every task you take on,
  14. 0:30and every ounce of enthusiasm you share
  15. 0:33helps us move closer to our mission of
  16. 0:36alleviating suffering, bringing hope,
  17. 0:38and changing lives. Your efforts not
  18. 0:41only make an impact on those you
  19. 0:43directly help, but they also inspire us
  20. 0:46all to be better, kinder, and more
  21. 0:48compassionate. You are the heart and
  22. 0:51soul of our work and your contributions,
  23. 0:53whether they be big or small, are truly
  24. 0:56appreciated. Your decision to serve at
  25. 0:58CCA means more than you know. You're not
  26. 1:02just stepping up. You're carrying
  27. 1:03forward the legacy of our founders who
  28. 1:06started this journey over five decades
  29. 1:08ago. At CCA, we have six core values:
  30. 1:12trust, servant spirit, integrity,
  31. 1:15excellence, diversity, and dignity. By
  32. 1:18embodying these values every day, you're
  33. 1:20not just volunteers. You're ambassadors
  34. 1:24of everything we stand for. From where
  35. 1:26we've been, where we are today, and
  36. 1:28where we're going in the future, you are
  37. 1:31part of our story, our legacy, and our
  38. 1:33future. Thank you for choosing to make a
  39. 1:35difference here. Your dedication and
  40. 1:38passion makes our community stronger.
  41. 1:41And so together, let's make an impact,
  42. 1:43and let's keep writing that next chapter
  43. 1:45of our legacy. On behalf of our staff,
  44. 1:48our board of directors, thank you for
  45. 1:50your time and energy and the care you've
  46. 1:52dedicated to serving. We are blessed to
  47. 1:55have you here. Welcome aboard.
  48. 1:57>> At Christian Community Action, our
  49. 1:59vision is to create an environment where
  50. 2:01all interactions are Christc centered,
  51. 2:04spiritfilled, and life-changing.
  52. 2:06Together in partnership with
  53. 2:07foundations, businesses, churches,
  54. 2:09organizations, individuals, and our
  55. 2:11supporters, we offer wraparound services
  56. 2:14free of charge in the name of Jesus
  57. 2:16Christ. CCA ministers to the poor by
  58. 2:18providing comprehensive services that
  59. 2:20alleviate suffering, bring hope, and
  60. 2:22change lives. Since 1973, we have been
  61. 2:25healing, feeding, and educating families
  62. 2:27in need. CCA has three main service
  63. 2:29areas. Rescue, which includes financial
  64. 2:31assistance, rent and utility assistance,
  65. 2:34as well as our food pantry. Relief,
  66. 2:36which includes seasonal programs like
  67. 2:38kids eat free, back to school, and
  68. 2:40Christmas cheer, as well as our golden
  69. 2:42angels program, restoration, which
  70. 2:44includes multiple types of life skills
  71. 2:46classes, job readiness workshops, and
  72. 2:48helping our clients search for a new
  73. 2:50job. Meet Lorie Morren, the volunteer
  74. 2:53coordinator of Christian Community
  75. 2:54Action. If you have any questions or
  76. 2:56concerns, please reach out to her via
  77. 2:58phone or email. Now, let's meet Dre and
  78. 3:00Leslie. Dre is our pantry supervisor,
  79. 3:02and Leslie is our pantry lead. If you
  80. 3:04serve in our pantry, these are great
  81. 3:06people to look out for if you have any
  82. 3:08questions or concerns. Our volunteers
  83. 3:11are the heart and soul of Christian
  84. 3:13Community Action, and we acknowledge
  85. 3:15that your dedication and selflessness
  86. 3:16are gifts from God. Our volunteers work
  87. 3:18in the food pantry, deliver senior
  88. 3:20meals, and help with our children's
  89. 3:22programs. Your dedication and
  90. 3:24selflessness are what keep Christian
  91. 3:26Community Action the incredible
  92. 3:28organization that it is today. Thanks to
  93. 3:30the hard work of volunteers like you,
  94. 3:32last year alone, almost 8,000
  95. 3:34individuals were served, over 2,000
  96. 3:37families were helped, almost 6,000 meals
  97. 3:39were delivered to senior citizens, and
  98. 3:41over 2 million meals were provided to
  99. 3:43individual families. Over 40,000 hours
  100. 3:46of service were contributed by our
  101. 3:47volunteers with an economic impact of
  102. 3:50over $1.38 million to our community. So,
  103. 3:53how can you help? Our volunteers
  104. 3:54participate by helping serve at the
  105. 3:56pantry as store clerks and warehouse
  106. 3:58associates, serving in our life skills
  107. 4:00programs, with our Christmas programs,
  108. 4:02in our summer programs, working special
  109. 4:04events, and helping with administrative
  110. 4:06roles. CCA classifies volunteers into
  111. 4:09three main categories: general,
  112. 4:11specialized skills, and courtmandated.
  113. 4:13You can look for upcoming volunteer news
  114. 4:15and opportunities in our Friday emails.
  115. 4:18Now, let's discuss our participation
  116. 4:19policy. Smoking and vaping in CCA
  117. 4:21buildings are prohibited. There are
  118. 4:23permitted areas available. Use or
  119. 4:25distribution of drugs or being under the
  120. 4:27influence of alcohol or other drugs
  121. 4:29while on property is prohibited. CCA
  122. 4:31values dignity and integrity. So, we ask
  123. 4:34all our volunteers to dress
  124. 4:35appropriately and safely when serving.
  125. 4:37Please pause and review what we do not
  126. 4:38allow in our dress code. Christian
  127. 4:41Community Action believes in having an
  128. 4:42atmosphere of dignity and respect. We
  129. 4:45ask that you refrain from using any
  130. 4:47offensive language. Cell phones,
  131. 4:48headphones, and earbuds are not allowed
  132. 4:50in the warehouse for your safety. If you
  133. 4:52need to make a call, please inform your
  134. 4:54shift lead and step to a safe area.
  135. 4:57Limited lockers are available for small
  136. 4:58items only. See a supervisor for a
  137. 5:01locker code. CCA is not responsible for
  138. 5:03any lost or stolen personal items. Work
  139. 5:05with your supervisor to arrange a
  140. 5:0615-minute break for every 2 hours you
  141. 5:08work. You may be dismissed from
  142. 5:10volunteering if you leave your assigned
  143. 5:12area for any reason during your shift
  144. 5:14without notifying staff. Volunteers are
  145. 5:17not allowed to use forklifts or any
  146. 5:19powered pallet jacks. You may use the
  147. 5:20manual pallet jack after receiving
  148. 5:22safety instructions. At CCA, we are
  149. 5:25committed to providing a professional
  150. 5:27and harassment-free environment for all
  151. 5:29employees and volunteers. Harassment is
  152. 5:32not tolerated in any form. This includes
  153. 5:34verbal, physical, visual conduct or
  154. 5:36inappropriate comments and innuendo. It
  155. 5:38also includes unwanted sexual advances,
  156. 5:41requests for sexual favors, or any
  157. 5:43physical, verbal, or visual conduct of a
  158. 5:45sexual nature. Harassment becomes
  159. 5:46especially serious when it interferes
  160. 5:48with someone's ability to do their job
  161. 5:50or creates an environment that feels
  162. 5:52intimidating, hostile, or offensive. We
  163. 5:55want every member of our CCA team,
  164. 5:57staff, and volunteers to feel safe,
  165. 5:59respected, and valued. Volunteers should
  166. 6:02report any issues to a CCA employee.
  167. 6:04Every volunteers's role is important and
  168. 6:06CCA depends on volunteers to be here on
  169. 6:08time for their scheduled shifts.
  170. 6:10Schedules are set at 2-hour increments
  171. 6:12and you must stay the entire 2 hours to
  172. 6:14receive credit for the shift. If you are
  173. 6:16going to miss a scheduled shift, please
  174. 6:18cancel it in the system at least 24
  175. 6:20hours in advance. If it is less than 24
  176. 6:23hours before your shift or if you are
  177. 6:24running late, call the volunteer
  178. 6:26department at 972-219-4389.
  179. 6:30Please note, arriving more than 10
  180. 6:32minutes late without prior notice may
  181. 6:34result in losing that shift so we can
  182. 6:36ensure adequate coverage for our
  183. 6:37programs. At CCA, your role is essential
  184. 6:40to everything we do. Every client we
  185. 6:42serve, every family supported, every
  186. 6:44life changed begins with volunteers like
  187. 6:46you. When you arrive on time and ready
  188. 6:48to serve, you help us keep vital
  189. 6:49programs running and ensure that
  190. 6:51neighbors in need receive the care and
  191. 6:53dignity they deserve. We count on your
  192. 6:55reliability. Please attend every
  193. 6:57scheduled shift and let us know right
  194. 6:59away if you need to cancel or will be
  195. 7:01delayed. Arriving late or missing three
  196. 7:03shifts without notice within a 90-day
  197. 7:05period will result in a 30-day
  198. 7:07suspension of volunteering privileges.
  199. 7:09This policy isn't just a rule. It's how
  200. 7:12we guarantee that no client is ever
  201. 7:14turned away because we lacked helping
  202. 7:15hands. While serving at CCA, you may
  203. 7:17occasionally see or hear information
  204. 7:19that is private or sensitive. Please
  205. 7:21remember everything you observe here is
  206. 7:23confidential for the dignity and privacy
  207. 7:25of our clients. Never share personal
  208. 7:27details outside of CCA. If you recognize
  209. 7:29someone receiving services, keep that
  210. 7:32knowledge to yourself and treat them
  211. 7:34with the same respect you would wish for
  212. 7:35your own family. Should a client
  213. 7:37approach you with specific questions or
  214. 7:39needs, kindly and respectfully direct
  215. 7:41them to a CCA staff member. Now, let's
  216. 7:44review the instructions to get you

  244. 8:41pantry store. The laptop to sign in is
  245. 8:44at the entrance of the warehouse door.
  246. 8:46Clocking in and out is important for all
  247. 8:48volunteers. If you received a paper time
  248. 8:50sheet, bring it every day you serve and
  249. 8:52have the shift supervisor sign it. You
  250. 8:54must complete the time sheet with the

  257. 9:08questions or concerns about anything in
  258. 9:10this video, please don't hesitate to
