3:11them around but this one is not like
3:13that it has really yeah thought about it
3:16a lot over the last few days like the
3:18last few weeks so are you telling me you

4:011983 to early
4:031984 when Bobby was a serial rapist
4:06known as the classified ad rapist across
4:09South

4:46admitted in his confession that is to
4:48come that one of his victims reported
4:51the rape and he was nearly caught so
4:54instead of stopping and getting some
4:55help he made the conscious decision to
4:58end their lives from from that point
5:00on however do you remember his I guess
5:03you'd call it maybe hiso as the
5:05classified ad rapist like the scenario
5:08that he would do a refresh our memories
5:12okay so as the classified ad rapist he
5:14was known for answering classified ads
5:17that are often selling like furniture or
5:20something that would require him to go
5:23there to see it to the house right our
5:26worst nightmares yeah he would
5:28specifically talk Target women that were
5:31either single or home alone during the
5:34day like he'd be like oh I can come
5:35during the day
5:37right and then he would go to their
5:39homes rape them take
5:42off so unfortunately several of the
5:46murder victims the victims to come were
5:49picked up on a strip in the Tampa area
5:51known for prostitution that's that's
5:54that I mean that's why they call it
5:56trampa I've never heard that oh I'm so
5:59surpris how long have we been friends
6:01you've never heard me call it trampa
6:02that's
6:03crazy yeah uh it's it yes for this
6:06reason and also um for the sex
6:08trafficking
6:09unfortunately that I knew is horri well
6:12that's horrible in all of Florida but
6:13Tampa is a hot spot Tampa is a hot spot
6:16um but yeah we call it
6:18trampa so I'm letting you know that
6:21upfront because like I said in the
6:23beginning I want
6:25to focus on the victims as much as
6:28possible Right because of this fact
6:32there's not always a lot of details
6:34reported about who these women actually
6:37were you know as human beings right this
6:41is the
6:421980s it wasn't viewed as
6:45trafficking right it was just you're a
6:47prostitute right so it's unfortunate but
6:52that's yes you should do a minod about
6:56your time working with and what you
6:58learned
7:00yeah because I don't think it's as
7:02common knowledge as it should be oh it's
7:04definitely not because I didn't know I
7:06mean I knew a little bit but I've
7:07learned so much from you and yeah a lot
7:10of people think that sex traing just
7:13happens like you get kidnapped yeah or
7:16that only women from like other like
7:19women that I met that were in the
7:22program would have people after the fact
7:25like when they hear their story they' be
7:27like what you're you're
7:31American like they think that it only
7:33happens that only women from other
7:35countries are taken and forced into sex
7:40trafficking I don't want to make this
7:42about gen Z but I really want to make a

8:05righty in March of 1984 a young sex
8:09worker by the name of artist Wick went
8:12missing she was violently raped and
8:16strangled now she is not listed in all
8:20of my sources and even the ones that do
8:23mention her there's not a lot of details
8:26so I'm inclined to believe that they may
8:29just be attributing her to him mhm
8:34because it
8:36matched right his the rest of his right
8:39murders so I don't know but I felt I
8:42needed to at least mention her even
8:44though I don't have I literally have no
8:47details on her AB about where she came
8:49from or who she was as a person um but I
8:52wanted to say the name about a month
8:56later maybe less on April 5th 19 1984
9:00Bobby was arrested after attempting to
9:02abduct a woman from a shopping center by
9:05asking her for a ride he Charmed her
9:08with talk of her vintage jaguar and once
9:11in the car pulled a gun on her the woman
9:14wrecked the car in order to escape Bobby
9:17and he was later found that night
9:20arrested charged with aggravated assault
9:23and was eventually sentenced to 3 years
9:25probation in ordered to pay $1,500 in
9:28restitute
9:31lovely I mean just such a you know an
9:34even match for the crime
9:36committed yeah you can't can you hear my
9:39eye roll did that scare Bobby
9:43straight I think not no of course not in
9:48May of 1984 Lana long and I'm just going
9:52to say this that was her English name
9:55this is not her right given name I don't
9:58know how to pronounce her given name and
10:01most of the media calls her Lana along
10:04but I wanted to acknowledge that that
10:05was not her given name Lana was a
10:08college student who was a former dancer
10:10at a local strip club in Tampa that
10:13Bobby
10:14frequented she was walking down Nebraska
10:17Avenue when Bobby stopped to offer her a
10:20ride she accepted and after a short
10:23drive Bobby pulled a knife on her Lana
10:26fought back so he tied her up and drove
10:29to a more secluded area where he raped
10:32and strangled her her body was found
10:35nude face down with her hands bound
10:38behind her back on May 13th 1984 under
10:41an interstate overpass okay attacks
10:45quickly escalated after that with the
10:47next one taking place sometime on May
10:4926th or
10:5027th it was believed that 22-year-old
10:54Michelle Sims had just arrived in Tampa
10:57with friends it's not reported as to how
11:00Bobby lured her to his car but Michelle
11:04did have a record as a sex worker in the
11:06past okay once in his car Bobby
11:10violently beat and raped Michelle and
11:12then slashed her
11:14throat
11:16escalation Michelle's body was found
11:18nuded face down and bound under an i4
11:21overpass near Plant City okay I know
11:25where that is detectives were able to
11:28connect Lana and Michelle's murders when
11:32forensic investigators found the same
11:34red nylon fibers on both of their
11:38bodies right from the Magnum Magnum the
11:43car the car she has to be very specific
11:47the car if you listen to part one you
11:50didn't listen to part one you should
11:51what are you doing what are you doing
11:52here go back go listen to part one come
11:55on on June 24th
11:59the badly decomposing body of
12:0122-year-old Elizabeth lenbach was
12:05discovered in an Orange Grove near
12:06Brandon
12:07Florida she was last seen on June 8th
12:10walking just outside of her
12:13neighborhood Elizabeth was different
12:15than his other few victims and that she
12:18had no history as a sex worker but lived
12:21in a mobile home park near the Nebraska
12:24Avenue Strip where Bobby had previously
12:27picked up women she also was different
12:30in that she was found lying on her back
12:33and fully clothed oh that is different
12:37the only clue as to how she could have
12:39ended up with Bobby was that she was
12:42known for being a bit of a loner walking
12:44most places she went and often reading a
12:48book unaware of her surroundings
12:51okay so they didn't know if she was
12:55taken forcefully or if he lured her
12:58right then things were strangely quiet
13:01for a couple of months after that
13:04perhaps he had to focus on working more
13:07to pay that restitution or because the
13:11sheriff's department called a press
13:12conference and announced that they had
13:14found connections between the Lana long
13:18and Michelle Sims
13:20cases Cindy Bobby's ex-wife said in an
13:23interview that she and her children had
13:26been in regular contact with him
13:28throughout all of that time mhm and
13:31after the potential serial killer
13:33announcement was released in the news
13:36she recalls a specific conversation with
13:38him where she casually mentioned it to
13:40him and said quote you're always telling
13:43us that we need to be careful and look
13:46it's happening right at your front door
13:48to which he replied quote that's why I
13:51tell you girls you can never be too
13:53careful you never
13:56know it I mean it's it's horrific
13:59is that not Eerie though oh it it like
14:02yeah just ew I mean it just you can't
14:06trust
14:08anyone
14:09horrible then on September 7th 1984
14:12Vicky Elliott was nowhere to be found
14:15after failing to arrive for her
14:16overnight shift at the rata in coffee
14:20shop
14:22okay that was a mouthful Niche job a
14:26neighbor said that she had asked them
14:28for ride but by the time they got to her
14:31place to pick her up she was gone
14:33friends told police that she worked that
14:36shift because it paid 40 cents more per
14:38hour and the tips were better okay can
14:42you hear me rolling my eyes yep I have
14:46mixed feelings about that yes I suppose
14:49staying up all night you should get
14:52paid I'm not staying up all night unless
14:54I get paid more so yeah I mean that's
14:57fine I understand but it's sad that that
14:59she couldn't make a proper amount of
15:02money
15:03mhm at the regular time of day so she
15:06had to Dangerously walk to work at
15:10night in a not so great place
15:14MH anyway the friends also reported that
15:18she had recently been carrying scissors
15:20with her because she'd been getting
15:22harassed by men driving past her as she
15:24walked to
15:26work that's why she asked for ride but
15:30I'm assuming she left her apartment
15:32because she probably thought well I
15:34don't know if they're going to show up
15:36like if they were running a little bit
15:37late or something and she figured it's
15:39going to take me that long to walk there
15:43right the friends informed them that she
15:46changed her path that she walked because
15:48of the harassment from drivers so she
15:51began walking down a line of railroad
15:54tracks that were secluded
15:57instead w
15:59it's just so it's just so ominously
16:02creepy especially knowing why we're here
16:05you know
16:07yes the next victim was 18-year-old
16:10Chanel Williams who was last seen
16:12standing on Nebraska Avenue Strip on
16:15September
16:1730th it was reported that Chanel had
16:19moved to Tampa from Winter Haven after
16:22telling her parents she was living with
16:24friends but did in fact have a record as
16:27a sex worker her naked body was found on
16:31October 7th on the side of a road in
16:33Pasco
16:34County the cause of death was a gunshot
16:39wound to the head and neck okay that's
16:43different I don't want to say it but I
16:45want to say it because it's
16:48so ick okay you know how disgusted we
16:53were when we could tell that he was like
16:58nicer to Lisa McVey because of her dad
17:02and then he told her oh well tell your
17:05dad he's the reason yeah well this is
17:08just as ick because Chanel was his only
17:11black victim again I ask can we castrate
17:16him and so while I have no proof that we
17:21all know that's the reason for that I
17:26find it ick that
17:29the only victim that you shot instead of
17:32strangling I mean on one hand oh that's
17:35so horrible it don't think about it I
17:38mean but but we need to think about it
17:39and that's the thing is it it's it's an
17:42it's a a horrible reality especially for
17:46women of color is that they are so much
17:48more likely to be assaulted and
17:51killed yeah and it's just I just feel
17:55like there has to be something like what
17:57is it exactly psychologic speak know
18:00what it
18:01is strangling your
18:04victim close and personal
18:07intimate yes that's what I was thinking
18:10too so it sounds
18:13terrible but to be shot in the head is
18:16probably based on like graphic
18:18descriptions that I've heard about being
18:20shot in general especially shot like um
18:23the Heather Grossman story right she
18:25survived because it hit her in the spine
18:28mhm she didn't even feel it she wasn't
18:30in
18:31pain so I feel like on one hand being
18:35shot in the head is it probably a
18:38quicker less painful death than being
18:40strangled we can hope that's all we can
18:43hope you know but on the other hand you
18:45know that
18:47psychologically that was probably the
18:49reason for it is that it's less personal
18:52it's less intimate right I I I mean it
18:55just adds another layer to his
18:58heinousness
18:59of who he is as a person agreed but I'm
19:03glad that you acknowledged it by the way
19:05I thought about not but I just can't I
19:07just can't we have to we have to I mean
19:10we would yeah I just feel like I can't
19:13because because I did notice it and for
19:18any of our listeners that are people of
19:20color I have no doubt that they would
19:23notice it that if they don't notice it
19:25because obviously I'm not like I could
19:27go through that and not ever say what
19:32race or ethnicity anybody is but as soon
19:34as you look it up as soon as we post
19:37pictures of the victims right whatever
19:39you're going to notice it I mean I think
19:42it's important for us to acknowledge for
19:43a million reasons but especially when we
19:46work in such a delicate field as true
19:51crime where tons of minorities are
19:55regularly targeted it's important for us
19:58to even if that wasn't what happened
20:00here even if she wasn't targeted because
20:02she's a black woman no he was targeting
20:05women I still feel like it's important
20:08to acknowledge when stuff like this
20:09happens because I just feel like we have
20:12to especially when we notice it I think
20:14you're right on that front so ick ick

20:19ick all right the next victim was
20:2428-year-old Karen D's
20:27friend okay
20:29she was last seen in the same area on
20:32Nebraska Avenue around 3:00 a.m. on
20:35October 14th
20:371984 ladies and gentlemen if you don't
20:40recall Bobby's birthday is October
20:4414th it was his 31st birthday oh my gosh
20:48and he's H he's so
20:50young Happy Birthday Bobby I hate it I
20:53hate
20:54him Karen's strangled and partially Ned
20:57body was found just 7 hours later in an
21:00Orange Grove Northeast of
21:03Tampa originally from St Petersburg
21:06Florida Karen's family reported that she
21:08had been suffering from drug
21:11addiction investigators found red fibers
21:14on Karen and confirmed they were the
21:16same as those found on Lana long and
21:19Michelle
21:21Sims so um can I ask a question yes had
21:26they increased police patrol of nebras
21:29street because um I don't know but they
21:33did get the FBI involved which I'll get
21:36to okay so well and they may not have
21:39necessarily known that they were taken
21:41off of Nebraska Street they just knew
21:43that's where they were seen last yeah
21:46and but still they should have if they
21:49didn't I can't imagine that they didn't
21:51I can't imagine that they didn't but at
21:53the same time I can yes yeah you can and
21:58you can't and then you can and then you
22:01can't and then you and then you can't
22:04cuz this is true CRI and you can't you
22:06can't so on October 16th the Hillsboro
22:11County Sheriff's Department held another
22:13press conference letting the public know
22:15they were concerned of a pattern and
22:17have connected at least three of the
22:19recent murders to the same person you're
22:23yep Bobby's next
22:25victim was taken sometime around then in
22:29mid
22:30October Kimberly hops a 21-year-old
22:33known sex worker was last seen on the
22:35strip with a group of
22:37women it was reported that she had
22:40started hanging out on Nebraska Avenue
22:42in September but there's sadly nothing
22:46reported about her history okay like
22:49where she's from right
22:51Etc her body was found on Halloween of
22:551984 near a quiet stretch of Route 30
22:58one north of Tampa oh can you imagine
23:01finding a body on Halloween I I can't
23:04imagine finding a body
23:06ever true story true story I just like
23:10you just imagine it being like hallow oh
23:14oh so
23:15creepy again just ever on Halloween
23:19though I think the freaky part would be
23:21that you would question it you'd be like
23:23is it really really yeah is it really a
23:25dead body or somebody playing a prank
23:28well and it just I I would just be like
23:30is this the upside down am I in the
23:32Twilight Zone yeah
23:35spooky well I'm sure you're not going to
23:38be shocked to hear that Kimberly 2 had
23:41been raped and
23:43strangled unfortunately I'm not shocked
23:46yeah 18-year-old Virginia Johnson was
23:50the next victim to disappear from the
23:52Nebraska Avenue Strip sometime in late
23:56October she had a record for public
23:58intoxication and drug abuse but it's not
24:01reported whether she was a sex worker
24:04reports only state that she like
24:06frequented the area and specifically
24:08frequented a uh nearby strip club called
24:12The Sly Fox
24:14Lounge now as we discussed in part one
24:18Lisa McVey was abducted on November
24:213rd yes okay so this is where I have
24:25some overlap of things cuz everything's
24:27happening so fast I was just about to
24:29say like this is all really close
24:31together yeah from March to November
24:34that's it that's crazy
24:37crazy crazy it's
24:40crazy so Virginia's remains were found
24:44three days after Lisa McVey was abducted
24:50okay okay that would put us it November
24:536th and she was discovered by two women
24:57on a horse farm in a horse pasture in
25:00Pasco County notice I said remains yeah
25:05I was wait I was trying to W cuz if if
25:09you think about the timeline so like she
25:12went
25:13missing late October mid to late October
25:17yeah even she wasn't discovered until
25:19November 6 it's still hot in Florida
25:22it's still warm and she's in the middle
25:24of a pasture yeah it's it's hot I
25:27wouldn't even I wouldn't even say warm
25:28it's hot in Florida in late October and
25:31November yeah like you sweating on
25:34Halloween unfortunately she was not
25:37identified until later in
25:40November when her friends finally
25:43reported her
25:45missing after Bobby let Lisa McVey go on
25:49November 4th instead of laying low 6
25:53days later on November 10th mhm
25:5721-year-old k Swan
25:59disappeared much like Lana long she had
26:02been a dancer at a local strip club but
26:05had recently decided to make some
26:07changes in her life for the sake of her
26:09infant
26:10son Kim had just moved back to her
26:13parents' home and enrolled in a medical
26:15technician program she was last seen at
26:18the Bamboo Lounge a bar in a shopping
26:21plaza near her parents'
26:24neighborhood the next day Kim's body was
26:26found nude face down and bound like the
26:29earlier victims in a grassy area under
26:32an interstate overpass she too had been
26:36strangled I can't help but wonder if he
26:39knew her like he had seen her as a
26:43dancer because it's just but he had also
26:47just taken Lisa McVey who wasn't who
26:51wasn't so so I don't know if he just
26:55branched out or if I think it's cuz he's
26:59devolving a little bit here like his
27:02pattern with Lisa changed he let Lisa go
27:05yes his pattern with picking her out
27:07changed you know and everything has
27:09happened so
27:11fast
27:13yes November 14th it's announced that
27:16the sheriff's department had been
27:18working with the FBI on these cases and
27:21they had put together a task force and a
27:24team of police officers were staking out
27:27the North Tampa area like you said the
27:31thing is they're not just monitoring it
27:34at this point they also have the
27:37descriptions that Lisa McVey had given
27:40them yes and the car so specific what
27:44they didn't announce in that press
27:47release was that they had red
27:51fibers that were also found on Lisa oh
27:56good she had fibers on her panties or
28:00clothing or pantaloons if you will I
28:03will okay very good so now they know
28:09right they know who they're looking for
28:12pretty much yeah they don't have a name
28:14they have a profile though they have a
28:16profile they have the car they give it
28:18dispenser read give him 20
28:20minutes they knew they were looking for
28:23a red Dodge Magnum and thanks to Lisa's
28:25amazing skills at retracing the route
28:27she thought they took just before he let
28:30her go they actually even found the
28:34ATM oh that's
28:37good cross referencing the customers who
28:40used the ATM that day mhm with a list of
28:44Dodge Magnum owners in the area they
28:46were able to narrow it down oh so good
28:52two Robert Joe
28:55long but they didn't immediately like go
28:59to his house or well there has to be
29:01some strategy here there definitely was
29:04he's a dangerous man on November
29:0815th an officer on patrol notices a red
29:13Dodge Magnum matching the
29:15description it's spotted around 10:00
29:17a.m. so they stopped it under the
29:20pretense of an armed robbery that had
29:22just occurred nearby oh my
29:24goodness the officer confirmed his IDE
29:28in
29:29registration but Bobby is let go but
29:32placed
29:33under continuous
29:36surveillance while they worked on
29:38getting a search warrant for both his
29:40car and apartment I've got my eye on
29:44you always watching wasowski
29:49exactly so
29:52meanwhile somewhere in there like I said
29:55the timeline is everything's happening
29:57so fast are all at the same time so they
29:59got the confirmation that the red fibers
30:01on Lisa's panties were a match in
30:04fact the search comes through the
30:06warrant sorry the warrant comes through
30:10they search his
30:11apartment which also turned up evidence
30:14linking him to several of the crimes
30:16including Lisa's abduction because if
30:19you recall she put her fingerprints at
30:23everywhere he was arrested that same
30:26afternoon while leaving a movie
30:29theater and charged with abduction and
30:32sexual battery of Lisa
30:35McBay I want to know what movie he saw I
30:38know right like probably something pervy
30:42yeah or something stupid like shark NATO
30:46he looks like he would watch shark NATO
30:47I mean shark NATO wasn't around back
30:49then but but still something like that I
30:52don't know
30:54anyway Bobby cooperated with Detectives
30:58signed a Miranda waiver and gave a full
31:02confession to the crimes committed
31:03against Lisa oh yes
31:08okay but in what they
31:11believed was an attempt to save face he
31:15tries to play it off like he knew he was
31:17going to get caught he says that he knew
31:22he'd likely get caught because he could
31:24tell she was able to see out of the
31:26blindfold yeah I mean I knew I knew I'm
31:29not dumb like I
31:31knew but he let it happen because she
31:34seemed like a nice girl cuz out of the
31:37kindness of my heart after brutally
31:40assaulting and raping this this girl and
31:42you know yeah uh out of the kindness of
31:46my soul I knew that you know she seemed
31:48nice
31:50yeah I don't know why I'm given him this
31:52voice but it's working for me
31:55yes once they had his confession
31:58for the crimes against Lisa one of the
32:01detectives stepped out of the room to
32:02collect photos of the murder
32:05victims when he returned he asked Bobby
32:08if he had ever picked up prostitutes in
32:10the area to which Bobby responded I
32:13would prefer not to answer that so
32:16yes that's one of those questions it's
32:18just like you can't not answer it like
32:21if you don't answer we know the answer
32:25yeah you can't like that's not yeah
32:29that's it's like the yeah go ahead no
32:32it's okay it's like I don't have
32:37any I had something but it's not the
32:39same even in the
32:42slightest okay so they showed him the
32:45photos of the deceased women and Bobby
32:48supposedly said quote the complexion of
32:50things have sure changed since you came
32:53back into the room I think I might need
32:55an
32:56attorney okay
32:58okay I'm just shocked by his use of the
33:00word complexion that's not what that
33:03yeah you're wrong but okay so despite
33:07this
33:08statement the detectives proceeded with
33:11the
33:12interrogation well he didn't ask for an
33:14attorney is what they're going to say
33:15yep and because he had signed the waiver
33:18and they claimed that his use of I think
33:22I might was not a definitive request for
33:26one I don't know how that's going to
33:27hold up in court this Yep this would of
33:31course become a point of Defense during
33:33his trial and in his appeals so right I
33:39I mean but it didn't take long from what
33:42I can tell I wish I got that I had found
33:44the actual tape of his confession I did
33:47not but from what bit of the confession
33:50that or that
33:52portion was like played out in court
33:55documents it didn't take much for them
33:57to try it was like he that's all he said
34:00they asked like four questions they kept
34:02talking to him and they're like get real
34:05you know basically and then he just like
34:07confesses to stuff he didn't like say
34:10again no I think I might need an
34:12attorney from what the court documents
34:14say like he just said it the one time
34:16and then they were like no man really
34:19like tell us like we know you we know
34:21what you've done right you need to tell
34:24us I feel like yeah I gu and then he
34:26just confessed
34:28so on one hand yes the mention of
34:31attorney they should have stopped
34:33despite him signing the waiver cuz that
34:36was he signed the waiver because of Lisa
34:39and he confessed to Lisa right but he
34:41was not the complexion shifted the
34:44complexion shifted there's now
34:48acne so it need you know oh the dark
34:52circles I'm getting age
34:54spots yeah so there's a wart on this
34:59story so that becomes a bit of an issue
35:03which we will discuss in a bit the
35:07interrogation lasted a total of 6 hours
35:12and Bobby confess to nine murders
35:16between May and November so that's why I
35:20say that first one that I mentioned
35:23artist Wick happened in March he did not
35:26confess to that one
35:28I think that they just attribute it to
35:30him because I mean well if it looks like
35:33a duck and it walks like a duck and it
35:35talks like a duck it's Donald Trump it's
35:37Donald Trump I can't help myself I don't
35:41even remember what episode that we said
35:42that I don't remember the first one that
35:44I
35:45said in his confession he told
35:48detectives where they would find the
35:51body of Vicky
35:53Elliot who had not yet been discovered
35:57and sad sadly it's reported that when
35:59they did go to the place that he
36:01directed them to and found her the pair
36:04of scissors that she carried to work on
36:06her were found near her body or like
36:09right next to her
36:11body I don't like you very much I'm
36:14sorry telling me that I also you know
36:17but that's misplaced
36:18anger I acknowledge that don't take your
36:21Bobby anger out on me I am angry at
36:24Bobby
36:25but after the inter ation he finally had
36:29the opportunity to make a phone
36:31call and he called Cindy hello Cindy his
36:37ex-wife Cindy says she knew something
36:40was wrong right away and asked him and
36:43he told her quote you know the
36:46girls for some reason she thought he
36:49meant some girls hurt or killed his
36:52girlfriend Barbara him and Barbara had
36:55actually broken up but I don't think
36:56Cindy knew that
36:58right but I can see why she's like what
37:01so she's like some girls hurt Barbara
37:05like what what are you and he said no I
37:08did it and she's like oh my God you
37:11killed Barbara I was going to say you
37:13killed Barbara and he said no I killed
37:15the girls in
37:16Tampa and she says she told him to stop
37:20that yeah because stop talking yeah well
37:23no she thought that he was joking cuz
37:25she says he always had a sick sense of
37:27humor her so she thought he was trying
37:29to be funny and she's like stop that's
37:31not funny stop talking and suddenly
37:34another voice was on the
37:37line identifying themselves as a
37:39detective with the sheriff's department
37:41and told her he's not kidding we have
37:44him in custody and he's being charged
37:46with multiple murders rapes and
37:49abduction what the actual crap do you
37:53say yeah I I I imagining being on the
37:58other end of that I and I never I I whoa
38:02what do
38:04you how do you what you let you process
38:06that what do you
38:08say I don't know I
38:11don't ah I don't know what I would even
38:15say like what did she say I I me what
38:18you I would I don't know what she said
38:22anything at all initially I would say
38:24leave me out of it but their
38:26conversation continued because she says
38:29that he then asked her to call his
38:31parents and tell them and their children
38:34to tell her
38:36children that he was killed in a car
38:40accident it's the 9s not the 1600s it's
38:43going to be on it's the 1980s oh the
38:451980s and serial killers through the 70s
38:49and 80s were just as much if not more so
38:51like in the news like everywhere this
38:54isn't gonna be a new situation I
38:58like Al also I think I figured out what
39:02I would have
39:04said I don't I don't know I don't know I
39:08don't know I don't know I I would be
39:10like why are you calling me and then he
39:13would say that and I would say no yeah I
39:17mean I think yeah I mean what did she
39:20say to him she of course said no yeah
39:22I'm going to be like you don't you have
39:24lost the privilege yeah to to anything
39:26like you don't get to say in anything
39:28yeah she said I'm not going to lie to my
39:30children for you I'm not going to lie to
39:32anybody for you so here's the kicker now
39:38if you recall how horrible his mother
39:40was yes and that a lot of
39:44psychologists believe in fact one expert
39:47in the court
39:49process testified that they believe that
39:52like in his head he was killing his
39:55mother over and over and over again
39:58so she call Cindy calls his parents to
40:02tell them and she says that Luella
40:05Bobby's mother began blaming her saying
40:10it was because she divorced
40:13him otherwise this never would have
40:17happened
40:19ma'am I look like a fish ma'am my mouth
40:23is on the floor I'm going to have to ask
40:25you to come back to reality
40:28it's never anybody's truly anybody's
40:31fault that somebody's a serial killer
40:34but if it is anybody else's fault other
40:36than him it's definitely not Cindy it's
40:40you the abused wife ex-wife is not to
40:43blame
40:45yeah yeah whoa the level of dulu in this
40:51family it's in the jeans
40:54like oh my god oh yeah oh that's
40:58horrific oh I think that would have been
41:01the LA can you
41:03imagine I am so so angry I'm so angry in
41:07this
41:08moment to watch Cindy's interviews
41:11you're like no freaking way like no I
41:15don't even need to see it I don't even
41:16need to see it but Cindy
41:20is a treasure have you ever known a
41:23Cindy that wasn't a treasure actually
41:25now that you mention it
41:28I don't know that I have right I think
41:31every Cindy I've ever met has been like
41:33delightful yeah
41:36I am so docked
41:41yeah well and it wasn't like Cindy cin
41:44said it's your fault and she was being
41:47she was just like he's been arrested no
41:49and she was like immediately like well
41:51it was oh I'm so and not only that but
41:54how is it they had been divorced for
41:56four years Cindy was remarried at this
41:59point she was remarried she it's not he
42:02was dating he she didn't have to call
42:05you and inform you of nothing and he
42:07would have probably never called you and
42:09just let you see it in the
42:11news you're lucky she called you that is
42:15so
42:17infuriating okay brace yourself we're on
42:21to the trials oh my gosh he faced three
42:26separate trials
42:28good put him through the ringer he was
42:31found guilty in Pasco County and
42:33sentenced to death by a unanimous jury
42:36you know for not shocked the death of
42:41Virginia Johnson yes he then made a plea
42:44agreement in Hillsboro County pleading
42:46guilty to eight counts of first-degree
42:48murder nine counts of kidnapping eight
42:51counts of sexual battery including those
42:54committed against Lisa McVey okay he
42:57basically agreed to be sentenced to life
43:00for every count mhm of those things
43:04except for the crimes against Michelle
43:08Sims okay they had a separate penalty
43:12proceeding for that case interesting I
43:17don't know exactly why other than
43:20Michelle Sims I believe was the one that
43:22he also slashed her
43:24throat they found the knife in his
43:26apartment okay so they had more evidence
43:31against him on her right so but you know
43:35I was going to say I'm glad that he
43:37accepted a plea for Lisa McVey so she
43:38didn't have to relive that in a
43:40courtroom yes yeah I don't think she
43:43ever had to testify in the
43:46courtroom so a couple of months
43:49after Bobby moved to withdraw the plea
43:53agreement because the only defense
43:56witness was
43:57unavailable the only expert defense
44:00witness was unavailable and because he
44:04had misunderstood his right to appeal
44:06his confessions
44:09admissibility
44:10okay so this is when I get frustrated
44:13can I interrupt you yeah
44:17why I and I know the answer I do know
44:20the
44:21answer the answer
44:23is why is he fighting it because youve
44:27already been sentenced and I know why
44:29I'm going to get there but I just want
44:30to rant about it first
44:32sure can you not just stop being a
44:37garbage bag of a human being and fight
44:40this and just let it and just accept it
44:42and die or go to jail for the rest of
44:44your life just just die you know what
44:49I'm saying like you've already been
44:50sentenced to life to death it's a
44:52capital
44:53case but no you have to as selfishly so
44:57that you can stay alive a little while
44:58longer and fight this mhm and it's
45:01ridiculous to
45:03me yeah it's just I think you'll notice
45:08that I don't know for sure but you may
45:13get the impression as did I that he
45:17doesn't really understand much of
45:19anything through this process okay and
45:22that he is just doing what his Council
45:27says and he switches Council and then
45:30every time you switch Council your new
45:32person's like your old person didn't do
45:34as but I'm going to do more for you
45:35right I think that's kind of which is
45:38their job why this goes the way that it
45:40goes I'm not 100% but that's kind of the
45:43impression that I got well that makes
45:45sense so you'll see that in just a
45:48second well and that's their job and
45:49they're doing you know what they they're
45:51doing a good job I'm not saying anything
45:53a then but yeah it's frustrating that he
45:57didn't understand I mean what defense
45:59attorney is going to take this case and
46:01be like I can fight it you know no
46:03they're going to be like take this play
46:05deal right period and they're not
46:08necessarily going
46:09to push extra hard to make sure that you
46:13fully understand I mean yes they're
46:16going to ask you if you understand
46:19but right you know I mean yeah even if
46:22you sit there with a confused look on
46:23your face and you as long as you say yes
46:26they're going to move on on because what
46:29is there to fight they have the evidence
46:31against you you
46:33confess yes you can push back on the
46:36confession but they also have other
46:39evidence at least in some of the
46:42cases right which can be a capital case
46:45regardless that right so they held a
46:49hearing they granted him a hearing on
46:52that motion yes in which he testified
46:55his defense Council had told him they'd
46:57have an expert witness who then did not
46:59attend the hearing the proceedings for
47:04Michelle Sims to basically give
47:06mitigating factors because as you've
47:09we've said before like at this point
47:11it's not you're not
47:13defending whether he did it or not
47:16you're
47:18defending should should he be put to
47:21death
47:23so that person did not show and he said
47:27quote I have no faith in anything in
47:29this now I have no faith in my Council I
47:32have no faith in the doctors I don't
47:35know what to do CU it was a doctor that
47:38didn't show
47:40up he I have a suggestion but he's not
47:42going to like
47:44it take your
47:46[Laughter]
47:47foot he went on to testify that he had
47:51not been aware when he made the plea
47:54deal that he would be waving all all his
47:57appellant
47:58rights I can see how somebody wouldn't
48:01understand that yeah the judge
48:04authorized him to make a decision on
48:06whether he wished to continue the
48:08process with the previously entered plea
48:11of guilty or withdraw it and start over
48:15that was nice yeah he then also granted
48:18Bobby a 24-hour continuance to give him
48:21time to think about
48:22it that's really nice the next day
48:27Bobby went back into
48:29court and elected to keep his plea
48:32deal just caused us tax
48:36dollars the court made certain that he
48:39understood that he was giving up his
48:42right to appeal his
48:44confession which he agreed he did right
48:47and you know now it's being transcribed
48:51in a courtroom you can't go back and say
48:54nobody told me yep
48:57yes the judge was very clear and we have
48:59it in
49:00writing they moved forward and
49:02rescheduled the proceedings for Michelle
49:05Sims at a later
49:06date at the sentencing hearing the judge
49:10acknowledged four aggravating factors
49:12including the prior conviction of the
49:14murder of Virginia Johnson the fact that
49:17the murder was committed during a
49:20kidnapping how heinous the murder was
49:23yeah and that it was premeditated
49:27he also acknowledged two mitigating
49:29factors including Bobby's extreme mental
49:32and emotional state as well as his
49:35capacity to understand the weight of his
49:37conduct still the judge addressed the
49:40court stating the aggravating
49:43circumstances far outweighed the two
49:46mitigating circumstances and quote the
49:49facts justifying the imposition of the
49:52death penalty are so clear and
49:54convincing that virtually no reason
49:57person could differ with this conclusion
49:59right yeah I
50:01mean say it louder for the people in the
50:03back you're good yeah the judge Then
50:06followed the jury's 11 to1
50:10recommendation and gave him a second
50:12death sentence for the murder of
50:14Michelle s then Bobby got new councel
50:17for the appeals and he went on to appeal
50:20the conviction for the murder of
50:22Virginia
50:23Johnson multiple times was so dumb I
50:27mean it's not dumb that's the way our
50:29court system works well you're never
50:31going to believe it he was granted two
50:33more trials for that you're kidding nope
50:37the first time because of the
50:38detective's choice to ignore his request
50:40for an attorney and I understand that
50:42and the second time because the
50:44prosecution made the mistake of
50:46mentioning his plea agreement in
50:48Hillsboro County during the penalty phas
50:51dang ah what a rookie mistake you can't
50:55bring crap like that up
50:57up when he appealed again the Florida
51:00Supreme Court directed the trial judge
51:02to acquit him of Virginia's murder
51:05despite there being fiber and hair
51:07evidence linking him to it we've talked
51:10about it before and I will always
51:11reiterate it it's incredibly sad when
51:14decisions like this are made for the
51:16fact that Virginia deserve justice just
51:19as much as the other
51:20victims unfortunately there comes a
51:23point where perhaps too many valuable
51:26resources have been spent to try and
51:28Achieve Justice when really it's just on
51:31paper he was still sentenced to death
51:34for Michelle Sim's murder and as much as
51:37the man probably deserved to die a
51:39thousand deaths MH they can only kill
51:41can only kill him once
51:44yeah this is Florida and you will
51:47fry Bobby went on to appeal his other
51:50convictions all the way to the Florida
51:52Supreme Court again claiming the trial
51:54court AED by denying his motion to
51:57vacate the plea agreement admitting the
51:59confession and a knife found because of
52:03the confession into the
52:05proceedings denying his motion for a
52:07continuance and imposing the death
52:09penalty his argument wasn't that his
52:12plea agreement was involuntary rather
52:16that because his confessions
52:18admissibility was in question they
52:21should consider the plea agreement
52:24invalid suck your own toe
52:27they of course said no to turn to
52:31overturning the convictions citing that
52:34his plea of guilty is a confession as
52:38well as an agreement for conviction and
52:40it was documented that he made a
52:43well-informed decision when he agreed to
52:46the plea deal yeah he did not once but
52:49twice he did
52:51wise however they did acknowledge that
52:53his conviction for Virginia Johnson's
52:56murder being admitted into the penalty
52:58phase was an issue as it had been
53:04overturned this is
53:06ridiculous so they affirmed all his
53:09convictions and each of the sentences
53:11except the death penalty which was
53:15remanded for a new sentencing proceeding
53:18in front of a new
53:20jury at the second proceeding the jury
53:24unanimously voted for the death penalty
53:28it's like so this time you didn't even
53:30get the one right this reminds me of a
53:32time that somebody that did not like me
53:34accused me of cheating on a spelling
53:36test in high school and so the teacher
53:38said hey somebody said you cheated can
53:40you take it again in this class with no
53:42phone like here take your phone and I
53:44said sure and then I got a better score
53:47yeah this is like that but bad I mean
53:50depends on the way you look at it but I
53:52just mean like
53:53yeah Bobby's final attempts at the
53:56appell process LED
53:58nowhere his death sentence was confirmed
54:01from that point on I believe the final
54:04call was made in
54:062013 and he was scheduled to be executed
54:09by lethal injection in
54:112019 he wasn't going to go easily
54:15though he hasn't done anything easily so
54:17far he had a new attorney he has made
54:20this the most complicated situation ever
54:23yes for Cons considering the fact that
54:24he admitted to all of it like this is
54:27ridiculous yes his new attorney at that
54:31time challenged Florida's lethal
54:33injection
54:35procedure they claimed it was
54:37unconstitutional under the eth amendment
54:39because it would be cruel and unusual
54:42for him oh my goodness Florida's
54:46procedure was a three-step process in
54:48which the first drug administered was
54:51the anesthetic automate okay which the
54:57attorney argued had been known for
54:59inducing seizures and with Bobby having
55:02epilepsy and traumatic brain injury
55:05would be potentially cruel should he
55:08have a reaction to it um
55:14nothing so they requested that the
55:16Florida Department of Corrections
55:18instead use a drug called pentab
55:20barbital which is used in other states
55:23yeah I was going to say I know that's
55:25used in other places the state presented
55:28expert testimony that the data shows
55:30atom aate has only been known to induce
55:33seizures in small doses and the dose
55:36given for lethal injection is very large
55:40therefore not likely to do anything but
55:43knock him out right you can't have a
55:45seizure if you're asleep that's not true
55:49I it's not true it's not true at all but
55:52that's kind of like what they're I mean
55:53they're not saying it but it's like
55:54benad dril you can't be allergic if
55:56you're
55:57asleep you can't be you're not itchy
56:00you're
56:01retired the court denied the motion and
56:04Bobby Joe long was finally executed on
56:07May 23rd 2019 and was pronounced dead at
56:116:55
56:12p.m. several family members of the
56:15victims were in attendance as well as
56:17Lisa
56:19McVey good for
56:22her we will get to what that was like
56:25for her in a minute
56:26but first let's talk about what happened
56:28with her after the abduction I would
56:31love
56:32to so going back to November 4th
56:361984 it was about 4:30 a.m. when Bobby
56:42left Lisa in that parking lot she ran
56:45home startled by every car that drove
56:48past but made her way to her
56:50grandmother's house she beat on the door
56:53hoping for safety and instead was
56:56greeted by her grandmother's boyfriend
56:59who grabbed her by the hair threw her to
57:02the floor and beat her he then
57:05interrogated her for nearly 5 hours
57:08asking where she had been and why she
57:11would cheat on
57:15him yes I need you to keep going cuz I
57:18can't process that her grandmother
57:22eventually called the police and told
57:24them not to worry about the missing girl
57:26she's home now making up stories about
57:29being
57:30kidnapped please tell me the police were
57:32like no we're still going to come yes
57:35thankfully the police said they still
57:37needed to
57:39investigate Lisa says that when she was
57:43first
57:44interviewed shockingly the female
57:47officer didn't believe her because she
57:50was so calm about
57:51it that's
57:53frustrating it may also have been
57:56because she was so shockingly detailed
57:59as we said in part one like she really
58:02was
58:03incredible I don't know what the officer
58:06said but Lisa says that at some point
58:09she looked at her and said no bring in
58:12someone more
58:14intelligent love
58:16it good I mean seriously you have to be
58:19an advocate for yourself yeah and I hate
58:23that that officer wasn't I hate that
58:26yeah that's ridiculous but yes good so
58:30they set up an interview with Sergeant
58:32Larry Pinkerton who was in charge of sex
58:36crimes Lisa told Sergeant Pinkerton the
58:40same exact story and then she said she
58:43overheard him telling the female
58:45detective I believe her a couple of days
58:49later Lisa saw the news report of
58:51another woman's body being discovered
58:53and something about it made her realize
58:57that must be the same guy that took me
59:00yeah I mean I can see that realization
59:03hitting somebody sometimes you just know
59:05things so she called Sergeant Pinkerton
59:08and told him she needed to tell him more
59:12during that interview he offered the
59:14option for Lisa to be hypnotized to see
59:17if there was anything she may be
59:18blocking because of trauma Lisa said she
59:21was willing but because she was 17 they
59:24needed parental or Guardian consent can
59:28I just say that uh Mr Pinkerton is a
59:30very open-minded detective you're
59:32definitely going to say that in a second
59:35when her grandmother's boyfriend refused
59:38Pinkerton thought his reaction was
59:41unusual so he expressed as much to
59:44Lisa Lisa started crying and ended up
59:48telling him everything that had also
59:51been going on at
59:52home they immediately arrested the
59:56grandmother's boyfriend good and placed
59:58Lisa in a center for runaway teens where
1:00:02the grandmother and the boyfriend
1:00:03wouldn't be able to find her good
1:00:06fortunately before she turned 18 and
1:00:08would have been released from the teen
1:00:10center they uh helped her look for
1:00:14family members who were willing to help
1:00:17her out M and her Aunt Carol and Uncle
1:00:20Charlie took her in and according to
1:00:22Lisa they were the only people who ever
1:00:25showed her love
1:00:27I know
1:00:29right these are real tears I'm just
1:00:31trying to be quiet she says once safe in
1:00:34their home there was no holding her back
1:00:37she worked various jobs throughout the
1:00:39late 80s and '90s and then in 1995 she
1:00:43was hired at the Hillsboro County Parks
1:00:45and wreck department where at one point
1:00:48she had to report a
1:00:50Breakin and the sheriff's deputy who
1:00:52took her statement asked if she had ever
1:00:54considered being a cop because she
1:00:56definitely had the right natural
1:00:59skills she said she was always
1:01:02interested but had never pursued it
1:01:04because once she had become a mom she
1:01:07didn't want to take the risk of such a
1:01:08dangerous job four years later she was
1:01:12able to take a position as a dispatcher
1:01:15for Hillsboro County and also become a
1:01:18reserve
1:01:19Deputy she said it was a good way to
1:01:22confirm that the job was a good fit for
1:01:24her yeah and in 2004 after her daughter
1:01:28was grown Lisa joined the police academy
1:01:31and eventually became a school resource
1:01:34officer for Hillsboro County which she
1:01:36absolutely
1:01:38loves she also speaks out about her
1:01:41story to advocate for rape
1:01:43survivors she did however rest easier
1:01:47after Bobby's execution which as I said
1:01:50she attended she told reporters
1:01:52afterwards that she was looking forward
1:01:55to getting a full night's sleep because
1:01:57she hadn't had one since she first met
1:01:59Obby
1:02:01Joong so hard don't make me cry don't
1:02:04look at me don't make me cry oh my
1:02:08gosh oh
1:02:10wow
1:02:13that
1:02:14wow yeah I mean would you just look at
1:02:19it you just look at it oh well first of
1:02:22all you did an amazing job telling
1:02:24Lisa's story thank you
1:02:27um and uh I wish they had you know some
1:02:31more details on the rest of the victims
1:02:35right
1:02:37unfortunately but um it's hard to find
1:02:39those details when it comes to serial
1:02:42murder cases and
1:02:45especially when they are sex workers I
1:02:48hate to say that but it's the truth I
1:02:51mean what a touching way for this to end
1:02:56I definitely enjoyed doing a serial
1:02:58killer case like this like in this
1:03:01manner right and um yeah I mean there's
1:03:06nothing left to say yeah way to go Lisa
1:03:11I know we said it I think originally you
1:03:12said James recommended it but then we
1:03:15had Patron's vote it yes that's exactly
1:03:19what it was
1:03:20so so thank you everybody for voting on
