  1. 0:03all right so again welcome everyone to
  2. 0:05our training and orientation for
  3. 0:07Colorado Family caregivers we're really
  4. 0:09excited to welcome you to the team today
  5. 0:12uh the training today's probably like I
  6. 0:14mentioned will go about two hours or so
  7. 0:18uh just depending on the number of
  8. 0:19questions that are asked on the screen
  9. 0:22is all of the topics we will be covering
  10. 0:25today we'll start with just a little
  11. 0:27background about who we are as an agent
  12. 0:30we'll talk about what are the key
  13. 0:32onboarding steps there's three of them
  14. 0:35and how each one will occur so that way
  15. 0:38you can begin to provide
  16. 0:40services we'll then talk about each of
  17. 0:42those services that you can provide to
  18. 0:45make sure you know the dos the don'ts
  19. 0:47the rules regulations uh and make sure
  20. 0:49you feel comfortable in providing
  21. 0:51Services whether it's to your own child
  22. 0:54or whether it's uh to a family that
  23. 0:56you're supporting we'll also talk about
  24. 0:58compliance so how do we make sure we uh
  25. 1:02protect and keep the families and
  26. 1:03clients we serve safe and protected as
  27. 1:05well as ourselves as caregivers and then
  28. 1:08we'll ship gears a little bit and we'll
  29. 1:09do a live demonstration to show everyone
  30. 1:12how they will log and document the
  31. 1:15services that they're providing uh so
  32. 1:17that way they can get paid so that'll be
  33. 1:19our training session again that first
  34. 1:21part will probably last about 90 to 100
  35. 1:24minutes and then we'll shift gears to
  36. 1:26more open Q&A so that way anyone who has
  37. 1:29um questions can get those
  38. 1:32answered so go ahead and dive again the
  39. 1:34first thing is I want to make sure
  40. 1:36everyone is in the right spot so there
  41. 1:39are two different things that our
  42. 1:41company does the first thing is Medicaid
  43. 1:44waiver services and that's what we're
  44. 1:47talking about in today's training and
  45. 1:49orientation this is specifically
  46. 1:51covering the CES waiver children
  47. 1:54extensive support and SLS waiver
  48. 1:57supported Living Services waiver so
  49. 1:59we're talking about those two Medicaid
  50. 2:01waiver programs CES is for children
  51. 2:05under 18 SLS is for adults 18 and over
  52. 2:10we also do parent CNA
  53. 2:13services this is where we will hire a
  54. 2:16parent to do skilled nursing or CNA
  55. 2:19activities for their child if you're
  56. 2:21already a CNA we transfer those Services
  57. 2:24over in a week or two if you're not yet
  58. 2:26a CNA we will pay for you to go and get
  59. 2:29your CNA license which can take about
  60. 2:31four to six weeks to get your license
  61. 2:33that way you can get paid additional
  62. 2:35money outside of the waivers however
  63. 2:38that's not what we're talking about
  64. 2:39today I always have one or two three
  65. 2:41people join thinking this is CNA
  66. 2:44onboarding and it is not so if you are
  67. 2:47interested in either switching over your
  68. 2:49CNA services or becoming a CNA so you
  69. 2:54can get paid to do those activities for
  70. 2:55your child feel free to reach out to us
  71. 2:58uh give us a call or an email the
  72. 3:00process is very simple and easy uh to
  73. 3:04get you going there but just want to
  74. 3:06upfront let everyone know that today's
  75. 3:07session is focused strictly on the
  76. 3:09Medicaid waivers the CES waiver for
  77. 3:12children and the SLS waiver uh for the
  78. 3:17adults okay so uh on the screen this is
  79. 3:23my older sister who has Down syndrome so
  80. 3:27we always like to start here just to say
  81. 3:30we get it to some degree right what it's
  82. 3:33like to either live with someone who has
  83. 3:34an intellectual or developmental
  84. 3:36disability or to provide services and be
  85. 3:39a caregiver for someone in that
  86. 3:41situation I've obviously been a
  87. 3:43caregiver and done services for my
  88. 3:45sister for quite some time and so we
  89. 3:47start here to say we get it to some
  90. 3:49degree so we want to help so if you're a
  91. 3:52new caregiver you've never done
  92. 3:54caregiver services to someone who has an
  93. 3:57intellectual disability or a
  94. 3:58developmental disability
  95. 4:00feel free to reach out we're happy to
  96. 4:02walk you through the process tips tricks
  97. 4:04Etc we obviously support hundreds of
  98. 4:07families so we want to make sure
  99. 4:09everyone feels comfortable with the
  100. 4:11services they're providing or if you're
  101. 4:13new to Medicaid waivers in general you
  102. 4:16have a sense of how this whole system
  103. 4:18works and uh how you can get the most
  104. 4:21out of your waiver funding so that way
  105. 4:23you're allocating your services properly
  106. 4:25you're maximizing your funding and
  107. 4:27you're set up for success and providing
  108. 4:30Services uh whether you're the caregiver
  109. 4:32or whether you're the parent um and
  110. 4:34providing those services to your family
  111. 4:37members so we love helping people reach
  112. 4:40out it's why we started this company so
  113. 4:42reach out we want to make sure that
  114. 4:44you're feeling good and you're set up
  115. 4:46for success in providing services for
  116. 4:48again your child or a
  117. 4:50family now let me on that note just back
  118. 4:53up a little bit and walk everyone
  119. 4:55through how this whole system operates
  120. 4:58so this will be
  121. 5:00pretty helpful if you're new to Medicaid
  122. 5:02waivers if you've been doing this for a
  123. 5:04while this will probably just be a quick
  124. 5:06refresher but want to make sure everyone
  125. 5:08has some understanding of how this whole
  126. 5:11thing even works and where you fit into
  127. 5:13the grand scheme of things so everything
  128. 5:16we do starts up there in the blue with
  129. 5:19our state government Colorado Medicaid
  130. 5:22they are the ones who uh have passed the
  131. 5:24laws and legislation to allow these
  132. 5:26services to be provided and they have
  133. 5:29the budget the funds that they've raised
  134. 5:32and are allocated to them to then pay
  135. 5:35Caregivers for their services so the two
  136. 5:38important things our state government
  137. 5:39does is one they set the policies and
  138. 5:43procedures and then two they have the
  139. 5:45funding that eventually will hit your
  140. 5:47bank account as we provide those
  141. 5:49services and following those policies
  142. 5:50and procedures that they've outlined now
  143. 5:54our state government they can't run the
  144. 5:56program themselves so what they've done
  145. 5:59is is in every County in Colorado
  146. 6:02they've assigned one agency to be what's
  147. 6:05called a
  148. 6:06CCB Community Center board and they're
  149. 6:10now starting to be called
  150. 6:12CMAs case management
  151. 6:15agencies the reason why is because this
  152. 6:17is where your case manager works so for
  153. 6:20one County there is one CCB or CMA
  154. 6:25assigned where your case manager is and
  155. 6:28their job for their county is to make
  156. 6:31sure is to do really two big things one
  157. 6:33see who qualifies for these Medicaid
  158. 6:36waivers and then two once they qualify
  159. 6:40put together the service plan we're
  160. 6:43going to talk a lot about the service
  161. 6:45plan on today's call it's very important
  162. 6:48because it tells us exactly when you can
  163. 6:51start what services you can provide and
  164. 6:54how much you can provide so it's very
  165. 6:58important and we'll talk about that a
  166. 6:59little later on now once your case
  167. 7:02manager has basically created that
  168. 7:04service plan to specify what services
  169. 7:07you can provide and when you can start
  170. 7:09then it comes to us Colorado Family
  171. 7:12caregivers we are what's called a posa
  172. 7:15which stands for program approved
  173. 7:17Service Agency our job then is to hire
  174. 7:23train and pay the caregivers who will do
  175. 7:26the work as specified in that service
  176. 7:30plan so that's our role is to make sure
  177. 7:33that that's why I guess I should say
  178. 7:34we're the ones who are hosting
  179. 7:36orientation today you'll document your
  180. 7:39time through our agency your paychecks
  181. 7:42we will send them out to you Etc since
  182. 7:44that's the role we plays to make sure
  183. 7:46the caregivers are trained they know
  184. 7:48what they're doing they're documenting
  185. 7:50their time and then they're getting paid
  186. 7:52for the services that they are
  187. 7:55providing ultimately then it falls to
  188. 7:57the caregivers down there in the green
  189. 7:59y'all are obviously the most important
  190. 8:01piece to the whole puzzle since that's
  191. 8:02where the rubber meets the road the
  192. 8:04services are actually provided to our
  193. 8:06clients to benefit and enrich their
  194. 8:08lives so we're really grateful for all
  195. 8:10the caregivers out there uh specifically
  196. 8:13those who are going to be coming into
  197. 8:14the home it makes such a big difference
  198. 8:16for families when someone is willing to
  199. 8:19come in and provide services for their
  200. 8:21family for their client um so we just
  201. 8:24want to give a big shout out and thank
  202. 8:26you to all the caregivers out there it
  203. 8:27really does make a big big benefit us
  204. 8:30knowing firsthand since we've had people
  205. 8:31come in and help us out
  206. 8:33so so that's kind of again just the
  207. 8:3630,000 foot view highlevel overview of
  208. 8:39the grand scheme of things not too
  209. 8:41important to your day-to-day job but
  210. 8:43sometimes helpful just to see where you
  211. 8:45fit into the grand scheme of
  212. 8:48things now we're going to shift gears
  213. 8:50and talk about
  214. 8:52onboarding after we talk about
  215. 8:54onboarding I'll pause for any questions
  216. 8:56about the onboarding process
  217. 8:59there are three steps that everyone will
  218. 9:03need to complete before they can provide
  219. 9:06services and get paid okay so number one
  220. 9:09is to attend today's orientation so
  221. 9:12we've already put a big green check mark
  222. 9:14there because you've made it what 10
  223. 9:16minutes in so far so if you can hang on
  224. 9:19through uh the boring presentation you
  225. 9:21pass part one I'll do my best to make it
  226. 9:23a little more lively but hang on you
  227. 9:26pass part one if you make it through
  228. 9:27today's orientation
  229. 9:29as a reminder if you have not yet put
  230. 9:32your name in the chat box please open up
  231. 9:35the chat box in zoom and send in your
  232. 9:37first and last name so that way we can
  233. 9:39take attendance for those who joined a
  234. 9:41few minutes late just send your name in
  235. 9:44the chat box so that way we can get that
  236. 9:47captured so that's number one number two
  237. 9:51is we then need a copy of your client's
  238. 9:53service plan again the service plan
  239. 9:56comes from your case manager at at your
  240. 9:59CCB or CMA so call your case manager and
  241. 10:03you can get that service plan sent to us
  242. 10:06again the reason we need that is because
  243. 10:08it tells us when you can start what you
  244. 10:11can do and how much you can do without
  245. 10:13it we don't know when you're authorized
  246. 10:15to start so if you know who the case
  247. 10:18manager is because you're a parent give
  248. 10:20them a call just remind them to send
  249. 10:22over that service plan if you're working
  250. 10:24for a family the next time you see them
  251. 10:27just touch base and make sure that
  252. 10:28they've been in contact with their case
  253. 10:30manager to send that over to us we
  254. 10:33always make an initial inquiry but as we
  255. 10:36know case managers are busy so sometimes
  256. 10:38a follow-up reminder can help prompt
  257. 10:40them to get that over to us so that way
  258. 10:42you can uh get going on
  259. 10:45Services one thing I'll note here as
  260. 10:47well if the client you're working for
  261. 10:50has been receiving CES or SLS waiver
  262. 10:54Services through us for quite some time
  263. 10:57we do not need to request it we already
  264. 11:00have one on file but if you're new to
  265. 11:02our agency or the client you're working
  266. 11:04for is new then we're definitely going
  267. 11:06to need that before you can start
  268. 11:08providing
  269. 11:09Services all right the last thing number
  270. 11:11three is we need everyone to complete
  271. 11:14online paperwork everyone should have
  272. 11:17already received an email from sign now
  273. 11:21uh it comes to your email you click the
  274. 11:23link and in that email there's a little
  275. 11:26button you can click that will take you
  276. 11:27to online paperwork
  277. 11:29where you can then complete it all fully
  278. 11:31online in a secure Manner and it gets
  279. 11:34sent into to us if you do not see that
  280. 11:37email make sure to check your junker
  281. 11:39spam but then feel free to call or email
  282. 11:41our office and we can resend that
  283. 11:43paperwork over to you it probably will
  284. 11:46take everyone 15 to 30 minutes based on
  285. 11:49how Savvy you are with computers to fill
  286. 11:52out that paperwork so it's nothing too
  287. 11:55burdensome but let me now walk through
  288. 11:57for a couple minutes what's involv
  289. 11:58involved in that online paperwork so
  290. 12:01that way everyone has a sense of hey
  291. 12:03what am I signing and completing when I
  292. 12:05open that
  293. 12:06link one of the first things you'll
  294. 12:08complete is a background check
  295. 12:10authorization form this allows us to run
  296. 12:13a background check this is a state of
  297. 12:15Colorado requirement to make sure that
  298. 12:18uh we're only allowing those who will
  299. 12:20ensure our our clients are safe and
  300. 12:22protected to provide services so we have
  301. 12:24to run a background check on everyone it
  302. 12:27will ask for a full fiveyear living
  303. 12:30history please make sure it goes back
  304. 12:33the full five years and that there's no
  305. 12:36gaps if there's a gap if it doesn't go
  306. 12:39back five years uh it's going to reject
  307. 12:42and it will slow down the process so
  308. 12:44make sure you provide a full fiveyear
  309. 12:46living
  310. 12:48history once we run those background
  311. 12:50checks it's right now taking the state
  312. 12:52about 4 to five business days to process
  313. 12:55those and get them sent back to us uh so
  314. 12:57about four to five days days once we get
  315. 13:00those back if something comes up in your
  316. 13:02background check we'll reach out to you
  317. 13:04the family chat about it and how to move
  318. 13:06forward if nothing comes up in your
  319. 13:08background check we don't reach out to
  320. 13:10you specifically about
  321. 13:12that all right your service contract
  322. 13:15number two and by the way I just got a
  323. 13:17little message that my internet is
  324. 13:19unstable so if my internet drops for a
  325. 13:22minute and I exit the call I'll be back
  326. 13:24on in a minute or two so bear with us if
  327. 13:27that that work happen okay also in the
  328. 13:30online paperwork number two is the
  329. 13:32service contract basically just an
  330. 13:34agreement of the things you will do as a
  331. 13:37caregiver provide the services document
  332. 13:40in a timely manner it also outlines the
  333. 13:42things we do as an agency such as make
  334. 13:45sure that you're trained you have access
  335. 13:46to policies uh you get paid etc for the
  336. 13:50services you
  337. 13:51provide you'll also complete a W9 form
  338. 13:56this allows us to hire you as an
  339. 13:58independent cont contractor and allows
  340. 14:00us at the end of the year to generate
  341. 14:02your $10.99 tax
  342. 14:04document one important note on
  343. 14:08taxes if you live in the same house as
  344. 14:12the person you're providing services for
  345. 14:15so you permanently reside in their home
  346. 14:18so typically you're a parent a sibling
  347. 14:21maybe a living grandparent Etc but if
  348. 14:23you live in the same house as them then
  349. 14:25none of this income is reportable or
  350. 14:29taxable if you want to learn more you
  351. 14:31can Google or look up IRS notice
  352. 14:352014-7 it's listed on the screen as well
  353. 14:39that's the tax regulation that specifies
  354. 14:42that since these are all Medicaid waiver
  355. 14:44uh payments through a home and community
  356. 14:46based service program all this income if
  357. 14:50you live in the same home is considered
  358. 14:53a difficulty of care payment and as such
  359. 14:58you do do not need to report or pay
  360. 15:00taxes on that income as an independent
  361. 15:03contractor so again if you live with
  362. 15:06them you do not pay
  363. 15:09taxes sadly the rest of us I do not live
  364. 15:13with my sister anymore my parents kicked
  365. 15:15me out of the house so I don't live with
  366. 15:17her so when I provide services for her
  367. 15:20since I do not live in the same house
  368. 15:22with her anymore at the end of the year
  369. 15:24I get a$ 1099 tax document that I use to
  370. 15:27file my
  371. 15:30taxes all right you'll also complete a
  372. 15:32training and acknowledgement form or
  373. 15:34sign off on it basically that you've
  374. 15:36attended today's training and
  375. 15:37orientation
  376. 15:38session we need a driver's license or
  377. 15:41any sort of uh governmen issued photo ID
  378. 15:44so we can put name to a phase like a
  379. 15:46passport would also work we need if it
  380. 15:50applies your electronic visit
  381. 15:53verification attestation form and let me
  382. 15:56talk about this for just a second
  383. 15:59electronic visit verification which is
  384. 16:03abbreviated typically to
  385. 16:05evv which most of you probably already
  386. 16:07heard of evv it's a fairly new probably
  387. 16:11two or three years old state of Colorado
  388. 16:13requirement where they require now that
  389. 16:16whenever we provide services we pull
  390. 16:18open our smartphone and we clock in and
  391. 16:22clock out the state wants to know
  392. 16:25exactly when we started and when we
  393. 16:27stopped provid proving
  394. 16:29services and everyone needs to do this
  395. 16:33unless you live in the same house with
  396. 16:37them
  397. 16:38permanently if you live in the same
  398. 16:41house as them then you complete this
  399. 16:44form you have to upload a piece a proof
  400. 16:47of address or piece of mail for you with
  401. 16:50your name and address a proof of address
  402. 16:53with the person you're working for with
  403. 16:54their name and address to prove we both
  404. 16:58live in the same house that can be
  405. 17:01medical record uh utility bill uh school
  406. 17:05records anything to prove I live at this
  407. 17:08house they live at this house then the
  408. 17:10state of Colorado says fine you are
  409. 17:12exempt from having to clock in and clock
  410. 17:15out when you provide services because
  411. 17:18they understand that hey if you live
  412. 17:20with them a lot of times services are
  413. 17:22spontaneous you show up and you provide
  414. 17:25a service um or you don't show up you're
  415. 17:28already living with them so you walk
  416. 17:30into the room it's messy and you just
  417. 17:32start cleaning so there's a lot of
  418. 17:33spontaneity so if you live with them the
  419. 17:35state does not require you to clock in
  420. 17:37and clock
  421. 17:39out so the moral of the story is if you
  422. 17:44live in the same house as your client
  423. 17:47you live a great life you don't have to
  424. 17:49pay taxes you don't have to clock in and
  425. 17:51clock out sadly the rest of us we will
  426. 17:55have to clock in and clock out since we
  427. 17:57do not live with our clients and we will
  428. 18:00also get our $199 tax document at the
  429. 18:02end of the year we will show you how to
  430. 18:05clock in and clock out here in just a
  431. 18:07little bit um so just know it's coming
  432. 18:09so just plug that away that I don't live
  433. 18:12with them I'm going to have to clock in
  434. 18:13and clock out in order to get paid we'll
  435. 18:16talk about that and show you how to do
  436. 18:17that in just a little
  437. 18:18bit all right we also need your banking
  438. 18:21information so we can pay everyone via
  439. 18:23direct deposit to your bank account we
  440. 18:26pay every other week so buy weekly uh
  441. 18:29and we'll show you that pay calendar at
  442. 18:32the end and talk a little bit more about
  443. 18:34how uh your deposits and pay
  444. 18:37work the last thing we need for your
  445. 18:39online paperwork is your first aid in
  446. 18:41CPR certification if you are already
  447. 18:45first dat in CPR certified they're
  448. 18:47typically good for two years you can
  449. 18:49just attach that to the application and
  450. 18:51send that into us if you were not yet
  451. 18:55first aid CPR certified it's now very
  452. 18:58simple and easy to do so uh we recommend
  453. 19:01the American Red Cross but you can use
  454. 19:04anywhere to get first aid CPR certified
  455. 19:06the reason we like the American Red
  456. 19:08Cross is because it's fully
  457. 19:11online it's pretty quick it only takes a
  458. 19:14few hours and it's an excellent course
  459. 19:17and it's pretty affordable there's lots
  460. 19:19of promo codes flying around there may
  461. 19:21even be one on the screen um where you
  462. 19:23can get half off so it's only like $20
  463. 19:26so it's fast it's online and it's a
  464. 19:29great course so we recommend the
  465. 19:30American Red Cross but you can go
  466. 19:32anywhere it doesn't matter where you go
  467. 19:34there's in-person classes if you prefer
  468. 19:36that as well but we will need that
  469. 19:38certification before you can start
  470. 19:39providing
  471. 19:41services so one tip that I always
  472. 19:45recommend is if you were not yet first
  473. 19:48aid CPR
  474. 19:49certified what I would do is send us the
  475. 19:53paperwork today so that way we can start
  476. 19:56to process it we can run your background
  477. 19:59check since that's going to take four or
  478. 20:01five days and then get first aid CPR
  479. 20:03certified here in the next few days and
  480. 20:05then email us that certificate and we
  481. 20:08will attach it to your application for
  482. 20:10you so if you're looking to get going
  483. 20:13fast fill out your paperwork and send
  484. 20:16that into us and then do your CPR uh
  485. 20:19here in the next few days and send that
  486. 20:20into us well but getting that paperwork
  487. 20:23in allows us to start your background
  488. 20:25check in the paperwork so it can help
  489. 20:26speed things along if you're looking to
  490. 20:29move
  491. 20:30fast now going back once you've done
  492. 20:34these three things you've attended
  493. 20:36today's orientation we've received a
  494. 20:39copy of your client service plan and
  495. 20:41you've completed the online paperwork
  496. 20:44once all those three things are done you
  497. 20:46will get a welcome email from us that
  498. 20:49says welcome to Colorado Family
  499. 20:51caregivers you're ready to begin
  500. 20:53Services it will have your username and
  501. 20:56password so you can log into our website
  502. 20:58s it and start documenting Services
  503. 21:00again we'll show you how to do that in a
  504. 21:03little bit but you'll get that welcome
  505. 21:05email it will have lots of helpful
  506. 21:08attachments uh user guides YouTube
  507. 21:12videos policies and procedures Etc so
  508. 21:15that's when when you get that email
  509. 21:17that's when you know you are ready to
  510. 21:19provide
  511. 21:20services up until that point every
  512. 21:24Wednesday you'll receive an automated
  513. 21:26email from us that tells you what you're
  514. 21:28still missing so that'll be tomorrow on
  515. 21:31Wednesday so tomorrow on Wednesday Keep
  516. 21:33An out for that email it will tell you
  517. 21:35what we're missing once we get
  518. 21:38everything typically the next day after
  519. 21:40we get everything you'll get that
  520. 21:42welcome email and you can begin uh
  521. 21:44providing
  522. 21:47Services okay so let me go ahead and
  523. 21:49pause here to take some questions just a
  524. 21:52reminder that today's session is being
  525. 21:54recorded So if you do not want to be
  526. 21:56recorded then don't ask a question now
  527. 21:59and wait until the end where we'll have
  528. 22:01open Q&A which is not recorded but if
  529. 22:05you have a question right now feel free
  530. 22:06to come off mute uh and ask any question
  531. 22:09about
  532. 22:12onboarding hi if we've already submitted
  533. 22:16our documentation for CNA do we need to
  534. 22:19resubmit it for this program great
  535. 22:22question the answer is yes I wish you
  536. 22:24didn't have to double up on the
  537. 22:26paperwork but unfortunately you do just
  538. 22:28because they're tailored to the
  539. 22:30different services that you're providing
  540. 22:32so you will also need to fill out a
  541. 22:33paperwork for uh the CES or SLS waiver
  542. 22:38good
  543. 22:39question where can we submit our CNA
  544. 22:44certification yeah and are you talking
  545. 22:45about if to apply for our parent CNA
  546. 22:48program no I'm already a CNA so they I
  547. 22:51don't do you guys need proof that I'm
  548. 22:52already a CNA and all that
  549. 22:54jazz good question so for these services
  550. 22:58the CES and SLS waivers we don't need
  551. 23:00any verification of if you're a CNA or
  552. 23:02not however if you're enrolling in our
  553. 23:05parent CNA program to get paid to do CNA
  554. 23:08care there's a separate paperwork
  555. 23:10separate onboarding that you'll go
  556. 23:12through where we will need that CNA
  557. 23:14certificate so you can provide that CNA
  558. 23:16care good
  559. 23:21question sorry I had a question so oh go
  560. 23:24ahead oh okay sorry uh so if I'm going
  561. 23:27to be my kids Community Connector and
  562. 23:30advanced
  563. 23:32Homemaker and I live in the same house
  564. 23:34do I get tax exempt for those two or
  565. 23:36will I pay taxes for those if you live
  566. 23:38in the same house you don't pay taxes we
  567. 23:41H you you're hired as a 1099 contractor
  568. 23:44and that's what allows us to basically
  569. 23:46pay you and then you do not have to
  570. 23:48report or pay taxes if you live in the
  571. 23:51same household as them for Community
  572. 23:54Connector and enhanced Homemaker the CES
  573. 23:56waiver services
  574. 23:58okay and real quick sorry one more
  575. 24:00question um I uploaded two of the mail
  576. 24:04addresses of my own name because I
  577. 24:06couldn't find one with my child's but
  578. 24:08then I found one with my child so will I
  579. 24:09just go back and redo the paperwork then
  580. 24:12yeah so what you can do is just email us
  581. 24:14that document and we'll attach it for
  582. 24:16you you don't have to refill out the
  583. 24:18paperwork out standing thank you yeah no
  584. 24:20problem and then I think there was one
  585. 24:22more question we'll get to and then
  586. 24:23we'll move
  587. 24:24on yeah so you said um if because I'm
  588. 24:28doing this for my daughter as well um if
  589. 24:31you're CNA you can get paid
  590. 24:35additional yeah great question so yes so
  591. 24:38there's the CES waiver Services which as
  592. 24:40a parent you can get paid to do
  593. 24:43Community Connector homaker enhanced
  594. 24:45Homemaker basic for the CES yes so you
  595. 24:49can do that you can also if you're a CNA
  596. 24:51get paid a separate pool of money in
  597. 24:54addition to all of this to get paid to
  598. 24:57do CNA services for your child and for
  599. 25:02that just reach out to us it's a very
  600. 25:04simple process where you do a video call
  601. 25:08you fill out some paperwork and then we
  602. 25:10come out to your home for that one uh
  603. 25:12since we need to do an eval or an
  604. 25:14assessment evaluation on your child to
  605. 25:17qualify them and then yep you can get
  606. 25:19paid extra money to be a CNA in home as
  607. 25:23well okay and that's something that you
  608. 25:25guys decide MH y exactly so that video
  609. 25:29call that is we do an online assessment
  610. 25:32it's called the Pediatric assessment
  611. 25:33tool or Pat tool which will qualify you
  612. 25:36to receive those CNA
  613. 25:38Services okay and um I a nurse will that
  614. 25:43qualify yeah so if you're a nurse like
  615. 25:45an RN or an LPN then you can yep so
  616. 25:49you're already that so you can still get
  617. 25:51paid to do those CNA Services okay
  618. 25:54awesome um I'll reach out to
  619. 25:56you no problem all right one more
  620. 25:58question from Miranda and then we'll
  621. 26:00move on go for it
  622. 26:04Miranda okay sorry I had to hit unmute
  623. 26:07um so thank you for thank you for
  624. 26:10explaining that um so the difference um
  625. 26:13between Community Connector and
  626. 26:15Homemaker um from what my understanding
  627. 26:17is Homemaker is more of um like the
  628. 26:19cleaning services and stuff that you do
  629. 26:21on the house or if you're providing the
  630. 26:23cleaning services for somebody else um
  631. 26:26or you're providing you know them for
  632. 26:28you and yourself your kiddo um my son is
  633. 26:32uh developmentally disabled too so he's
  634. 26:34autistic level three autistic um so
  635. 26:38would Homemaker be um a certain amount
  636. 26:42of hours and then Community Connector if
  637. 26:44I signed up for both would that be like
  638. 26:47an allotted amount of hours I would say
  639. 26:49or yeah great question great question so
  640. 26:53that service plan that comes from your
  641. 26:55case manager that service service plan
  642. 26:58is what specifies how many hours you can
  643. 27:00work for each of the services now
  644. 27:03starting this year 2024 the state has a
  645. 27:07limit for how much parents can do for
  646. 27:09Community Connector and Homemaker which
  647. 27:11is 10 hours a week on average so as a
  648. 27:16parent you can do about 10 hours a week
  649. 27:18of Community Connector 10 hours a week
  650. 27:20for Homemaker that's both enhanced and
  651. 27:23basic so you can do a total of 20 hours
  652. 27:26of services a week and get paid to do
  653. 27:28that as a parent and then if there's
  654. 27:31additional on top of that then someone
  655. 27:33else would need to provide those
  656. 27:36Services okay so uh if I'm already my
  657. 27:39son's certified nurse aid and want to
  658. 27:42switch to your guys's
  659. 27:43company I could potentially be doing uh
  660. 27:46the CNA program through you guys and
  661. 27:48then the Community Connector and the
  662. 27:50Homemaker exactly yep okay yep and
  663. 27:53that's a big reason we we do both that
  664. 27:56is so that way for families you can
  665. 27:57consolidate your CNA Homemaker and
  666. 28:00Community Connector with one company
  667. 28:02just makes it a lot simpler and easier
  668. 28:04for fam so yeah so reach out to us if
  669. 28:06you're interested in also bringing over
  670. 28:08the CNA Services again that takes a week
  671. 28:11or two so it's super simple super easy
  672. 28:14and we handle the transition with your
  673. 28:16current agency to make it seamless for
  674. 28:18you all so uh yeah feel free to reach
  675. 28:20out and happy to chat with you about
  676. 28:22that as well definitely definitely want
  677. 28:24to do that thank you great yeah no
  678. 28:26problem all right let's go ahead and
  679. 28:29move on now to the services so what
  680. 28:32we'll do for the next about 30 minutes
  681. 28:34is chat through each of these services
  682. 28:36that you can provide to make sure that
  683. 28:40you know what the dos the don'ts are
  684. 28:42what the expectations are um for each of
  685. 28:46these services that you're providing
  686. 28:47again whether it's for your own child or
  687. 28:49whether it's for a family that you'll be
  688. 28:52working for so we're going to trat out
  689. 28:54about each of them we'll also give lots
  690. 28:55of examples uh for for each of them but
  691. 28:58before that I do that I'm going to talk
  692. 29:01about four principles that apply to all
  693. 29:04of them so no matter which of these
  694. 29:07Services you are going to provide we're
  695. 29:10going to talk about four things that
  696. 29:12apply to all of them that you'll need to
  697. 29:14make sure to keep in mind as you provide
  698. 29:17services so let's go through each of
  699. 29:19those number
  700. 29:21one is that we do not overlap Medicaid
  701. 29:26services
  702. 29:28and what that means is we are not
  703. 29:30providing two services at the same time
  704. 29:35for an individual so they cannot receive
  705. 29:39rbit and Community Connector at the same
  706. 29:41time or a CNA shift and rest bit or
  707. 29:45something at the same time the state
  708. 29:47says no and the big reason why is
  709. 29:50because they feel like a client the
  710. 29:52individual receiving Services can only
  711. 29:54be in one place at one time they can't
  712. 29:57rece receive two things simultaneously
  713. 29:59and the state also doesn't want to pay
  714. 30:01for two things at once right so they say
  715. 30:04you can only do one service at a time
  716. 30:07now there is an exception to this and
  717. 30:10that is with Homemaker basic Homemaker
  718. 30:14basic and we'll talk about it in a lot
  719. 30:16of detail in just a minute but it's the
  720. 30:18only service where the client does not
  721. 30:21need to be physically present all right
  722. 30:24they don't need to be physically present
  723. 30:26because you're basically just cleaning
  724. 30:28and doing laundry they don't need to
  725. 30:30watch you you know was the countertops
  726. 30:32or do a load of laundry so because it's
  727. 30:34the only service where the client does
  728. 30:36not need to be present you are allowed
  729. 30:39to do Homemaker basic at the same time
  730. 30:42as another service and that's the only
  731. 30:44exception because someone one caregiver
  732. 30:47could be doing Homemaker basic and
  733. 30:48cleaning the bathroom someone else can
  734. 30:51be doing another service for that client
  735. 30:54and again if you just want to keep it
  736. 30:55simple and easy just remember we're
  737. 30:57never going to document two things
  738. 31:00happening at the same
  739. 31:03time again with the only exception being
  740. 31:05Homemaker
  741. 31:06basic all right number
  742. 31:08two the services are meant to be used
  743. 31:11over the entire duration of the service
  744. 31:14plan so again that service plan remember
  745. 31:17it tells us when you can start what you
  746. 31:20can do what services and how much you
  747. 31:23can do in a given time period and that's
  748. 31:25what we're talking about here that
  749. 31:27service plan that we get from your case
  750. 31:29manager will say something to the extent
  751. 31:32of hey you get to use this much for the
  752. 31:34whole year and this much per month and
  753. 31:38about this much per week okay so when we
  754. 31:42get that service plan from your case
  755. 31:43manager we upload that into our system
  756. 31:46I'll also show you that as well where
  757. 31:48you can view
  758. 31:49that and we will put on a monthly limit
  759. 31:53to help you stay on track so that way
  760. 31:57you don't burn through everything in 3
  761. 31:59four months and then your client gets no
  762. 32:02Services uh for a long time that's not
  763. 32:04good for them the services are meant to
  764. 32:06be used over the entire year so they can
  765. 32:08receive that benefit over the entire
  766. 32:10year so to help with that we have a
  767. 32:12monthly limit to help you stay on track
  768. 32:14so that way you don't burn through it
  769. 32:16too quickly now with that monthly limit
  770. 32:19if there's ever a month where you need
  771. 32:21to use a little bit more that's okay
  772. 32:24just call us let us know we'll document
  773. 32:26it and we can increase that for a month
  774. 32:28because we know life EVs and flows
  775. 32:31sometimes you might need to use a little
  776. 32:32more sometimes you'll use a little less
  777. 32:35so if you ever hit that monthly limit
  778. 32:37feel free to reach out to us we'll try
  779. 32:38to understand why we'll document it
  780. 32:40we'll bump that up so that way you can
  781. 32:43uh provide those services in that month
  782. 32:45knowing that in future months you'll
  783. 32:47have to use a little bit less and at any
  784. 32:50time you can log into our website and
  785. 32:53see exactly how many you've used and how
  786. 32:56many you have left for each service so
  787. 32:59at any time there's full transparency on
  788. 33:02where you're at how you're progressing
  789. 33:05maybe you haven't been using as much so
  790. 33:07you can use a little bit more or ver
  791. 33:09inversely you've used a little bit
  792. 33:11you've gone a little bit over now you
  793. 33:13can dial it back a little bit so at any
  794. 33:15point in time you can always see where
  795. 33:16you're
  796. 33:17at number three there are daily limits
  797. 33:22to what you can do in a single day okay
  798. 33:26the most most important one is we have a
  799. 33:2910hour limit for respit which means
  800. 33:33within a 24-hour period you can only get
  801. 33:36paid for doing 10 hours worth of respit
  802. 33:39you can stay there longer so you can
  803. 33:42show up at 700 p.m. stay till 7 a.m. the
  804. 33:45family may ask you to stay a little bit
  805. 33:47longer for an overnight visit or
  806. 33:49something so you can stay longer however
  807. 33:52you're only going to get paid for 10
  808. 33:54hours within that 24-hour period this
  809. 33:57one this is actually a state of Colorado
  810. 33:58regulation so I shouldn't say yes but
  811. 34:00this is a state of Colorado reg they
  812. 34:02only allow up to 10 hours of RIT again
  813. 34:05you can be there longer but the state's
  814. 34:07only going to pay 10 hours within a
  815. 34:1024hour period the big reason why is they
  816. 34:13want to make sure those units last so
  817. 34:15they have to cap it so that way people
  818. 34:17don't burn through it too quickly so
  819. 34:20again 10 hours of respit is the limit in
  820. 34:23a single day most the other services
  821. 34:26you're really only going to use them in
  822. 34:27one or two hour increments um it's hard
  823. 34:30to do too much Beyond you know a two or
  824. 34:32three hour block however we do allow
  825. 34:34people to go up to five hours within a
  826. 34:36single day for the other services so um
  827. 34:40if it's a big day sure you can use up to
  828. 34:42five hours in a day that's okay but
  829. 34:44typically you're using them in just a
  830. 34:46few hour uh blocks and increments and
  831. 34:49that's just again for one day these
  832. 34:51limits are also per child so if you have
  833. 34:55two children
  834. 34:57right you then you'd have 10 hours of
  835. 34:58rest bit for one 10 hours for the other
  836. 35:00in a single day that's okay so these are
  837. 35:02all per child daily limits to keep in
  838. 35:07mind number four on this list is to note
  839. 35:11that we are a hands-off agency so what
  840. 35:13that means is when we provide services
  841. 35:16we do them in a hands-off manner said
  842. 35:20another way we are not allowed to be
  843. 35:24grabbing touching moving Direct our
  844. 35:27clients we are hands off so a few
  845. 35:30examples we cannot oh and I should say
  846. 35:34the reason why is because to provide
  847. 35:36handson care you typically need a CNA an
  848. 35:40RN LPN license Etc to do Hands-On care
  849. 35:43because that's considered skilled
  850. 35:45nursing care all right so a few examples
  851. 35:48for instance we cannot brush teeth
  852. 35:52that's handson okay but what we could do
  853. 35:55instead is put the toothpaste on the
  854. 35:56toothbrush hand it to them time them
  855. 35:59monitor them hand them a cup of water
  856. 36:02Etc so we're there to supervise and
  857. 36:04monitor okay we are not Hands-On so we
  858. 36:07supervise we monitor we direct we coach
  859. 36:11we guide uh we demonstrate Etc but we
  860. 36:15don't do it for them so just a few other
  861. 36:17examples we do not shave we do not bathe
  862. 36:22uh we do not feed okay again those are
  863. 36:24all Hands-On care which is considered
  864. 36:27nursing but what we can do for all those
  865. 36:29is be there to support and to help okay
  866. 36:32so that's a thing to keep in mind we are
  867. 36:35hands off any time where you have to be
  868. 36:40handson if you have to be handson for a
  869. 36:43time then you will dock that time off
  870. 36:46your shift and it will be done outside
  871. 36:48of the waivers since the state of
  872. 36:51Colorado says Hey for these waivers this
  873. 36:52is unskilled care so you don't need a
  874. 36:55CNA license to do that's the benefit but
  875. 36:58in these instances if you have to be
  876. 37:00Hands-On make sure the parents are okay
  877. 37:02with it and the Guardians that they're
  878. 37:04okay with that and then you'll dock that
  879. 37:05time off the end of your shift and
  880. 37:07that's just done on your own time not
  881. 37:10underneath these
  882. 37:12waivers so again just a few guiding
  883. 37:14principles that will apply to all the
  884. 37:16services we don't do two things at once
  885. 37:19unless one is Homemaker basic we use
  886. 37:21them over the entire year we don't want
  887. 37:23to burn through things too quickly daily
  888. 37:25limits remember the big one respit you
  889. 37:28can be there as long as you want but the
  890. 37:30state's only going to pay you for 10
  891. 37:31hours in a day and then hands-off
  892. 37:34service since we do not have CNA LPN RN
  893. 37:37license under the waiver program we
  894. 37:40cannot get paid to do that Hands-On care
  895. 37:43so if we're Hands-On we're going to dock
  896. 37:44that time off we can only supervise
  897. 37:47monitor coach instruct and guide so just
  898. 37:50a few things to keep in
  899. 37:52mind all right let's we're now going to
  900. 37:54talk about each of the services
  901. 37:57as we go through each of them we'll
  902. 37:59probably pause a couple times for
  903. 38:01questions um so we'll talk about rest
  904. 38:03bit we'll talk about Homemaker and then
  905. 38:06we'll pause for some Q&A either for
  906. 38:08respit and then Homemaker so those will
  907. 38:10be the first two services that we cover
  908. 38:13with both of them rbit and Homemaker
  909. 38:16they are available to everyone so the
  910. 38:19CES waver and the SLS waiver so they're
  911. 38:22available to everyone so we're going to
  912. 38:24talk about both of those now we'll then
  913. 38:26move into the last three which are only
  914. 38:29available to specific waivers so that's
  915. 38:32a little teaser PE peek your interest
  916. 38:34for when we get there but the first two
  917. 38:36respit Homemaker available to anyone on
  918. 38:40the waiver so let's start with respit
  919. 38:43available to anyone on either waiver so
  920. 38:46let's start with respit
  921. 38:49respit the whole goal of respit is the
  922. 38:53state of Colorado will pay for someone
  923. 38:56to come into the home and to watch and
  924. 38:59supervise that individual so the
  925. 39:01individual on the waiver so that way the
  926. 39:04parent or Guardian can get some time
  927. 39:06away whether that's to go upstairs and
  928. 39:10take a nap to go grocery store shopping
  929. 39:13to go on a three-day vacation it doesn't
  930. 39:15matter but it's to allow that parent or
  931. 39:18Guardian to get a break to get that
  932. 39:20resit to get that relief and some time
  933. 39:22away to do whatever they see fit so
  934. 39:26because of that parents cannot do RIT
  935. 39:32okay parents are not allowed to do rbit
  936. 39:34since the whole goal is to give parents
  937. 39:36the brain so if you are the caregiver
  938. 39:39providing RIT your job then is you'll
  939. 39:42show up to the house parents or
  940. 39:45Guardians will leave and your job while
  941. 39:48they're gone is to kind of assume that
  942. 39:50parental Guardian role and to Monitor
  943. 39:53and supervise that individual while
  944. 39:56they're their parents are away to make
  945. 39:57sure they're safe they're protected
  946. 40:00they're happy they're secure and they're
  947. 40:03in a good spot while their parents are
  948. 40:05guardians or away so you'll definitely
  949. 40:07want to talk with the parents the family
  950. 40:10talk with the client and individual to
  951. 40:11see what things they like to do enjoy to
  952. 40:14do what are the family Rules household
  953. 40:15rules Etc so that way while they're gone
  954. 40:19the parents are gone you can monitor
  955. 40:21supervise and engage in any
  956. 40:23activities rest bit is activity as
  957. 40:26agnostic which means it doesn't matter
  958. 40:29what activity you're doing all the other
  959. 40:32services there has to be a specific
  960. 40:34activity tied to it but for RIT it
  961. 40:37doesn't matter what you're doing you can
  962. 40:39watch a movie play a board game play a
  963. 40:42video game go on a walk go to the park
  964. 40:45um color draw play with toys build Legos
  965. 40:49it doesn't matter what you're doing as
  966. 40:51long as you are supervising and
  967. 40:54monitoring them making sure that they're
  968. 40:56safe they're happy and they're healthy
  969. 40:58while their parents or Guardians are
  970. 41:00away there's three types of respit in
  971. 41:04your service plan it will specify which
  972. 41:06type you have you can either have respit
  973. 41:09individual which is when one caregiver
  974. 41:11watch is one client for up to 10 hours
  975. 41:15there's respit day which is the same
  976. 41:18thing one caregiver watching one client
  977. 41:21however it's specifically designed for
  978. 41:23if we know that individual will be there
  979. 41:25for 10 hours or more then they'll group
  980. 41:29it into a respit day remember you'll be
  981. 41:32there longer than 10 hours but the State
  982. 41:34caps your payment at 10 hours within a
  983. 41:3724hour
  984. 41:39period the third type is respit group
  985. 41:41this is when one respit caregiver
  986. 41:43watches at least two but can be more
  987. 41:46individuals on the waiver and because
  988. 41:49you're watching multiple individuals
  989. 41:51respit group pays a little more money
  990. 41:53than the others which are the same uh
  991. 41:55since you're watching and providing
  992. 41:57services for multiple individuals on the
  993. 42:00waiver now one thing to note is that
  994. 42:02respit cannot be used so the parents and
  995. 42:06Guardians can go to work unless the the
  996. 42:09child or the client is 12 years of age
  997. 42:11or older okay so for instance if the
  998. 42:14client is a seven-year-old you cannot
  999. 42:17use respit so the parents can go to work
  1000. 42:20however if they are 14 or 32 then that's
1001. 42:25fine you can use respit so the parents
  1002. 42:27can go to
1003. 42:28work so that is respit again parents are
1004. 42:32Guardians away and your job providing
1005. 42:34respit is that monitor and that
1006. 42:36supervision make sure you consult with
1007. 42:38the family about what activities are
1008. 42:40appropriate for you to do but you
1009. 42:42monitor them then the parents get back
1010. 42:45you document what you did which again
1011. 42:47will show you how to document your time
1012. 42:49in just a bit and that is
1013. 42:51respit now the next service is Homemaker
1014. 42:54which again available to anyone
  1015. 42:56there's two types of Homemaker there's
  1016. 42:58Homemaker basic there's Homemaker
1017. 43:01enhanced okay both of them have the same
1018. 43:05goal which is homemaking and put in
1019. 43:08another way it's to make sure that the
1020. 43:10home or wherever the client resides is
  1021. 43:13clean tidy organized well-maintained so
1022. 43:16two ways to accomplish that goal or that
1023. 43:19Vision the first is with Homemaker basic
1024. 43:23Homemaker basic is if you as the car
1025. 43:26Giver are going to be doing any cleaning
1026. 43:29laundry or household maintenance so you
1027. 43:33come into a dirty room and you pick it
1028. 43:35up you clean the kitchen you sweep the
1029. 43:37floor you run a load of laundry you fold
1030. 43:39put it away if you were doing it that is
  1031. 43:42Homemaker
1032. 43:44basic Homemaker enhanced on the other
1033. 43:47hand is instead of you just doing it you
1034. 43:50bring that client in the room and say
1035. 43:52hey John Sally come over here let's
1036. 43:55let's do it together and we can do it
1037. 43:58together I'll teach you these skills so
1038. 44:00you can build these skills uh up
  1039. 44:02yourself so you're doing it together
  1040. 44:04you're teaching you're educating you're
  1041. 44:06sharing those skills with
1042. 44:08them you can also use Homemaker enhanced
1043. 44:13to do any extraordinary or deep cleaning
1044. 44:17so this is probably you you have
  1045. 44:19chemicals or a few examples maybe
  1046. 44:22there's a smearing problem in the
1047. 44:23bathroom your client has accidents in
1048. 44:25the carpet you got to pull out the
1049. 44:27carpet cleaner the Deep cleaners
1050. 44:29chemical sanitize Etc stuff that you
  1051. 44:32probably don't want the client involved
1052. 44:34with because it's not safe or sanitary
1053. 44:35for them to be in those situations so
1054. 44:37you're going to do it that can also be
  1055. 44:40Homemaker
  1056. 44:41enhanced Homemaker enhanced pays a
1057. 44:44little bit more money than Bas Homemaker
1058. 44:47basic the reason it pays a little more
  1059. 44:49is because you're either teaching them
1060. 44:51how to do it so the state pays you a
1061. 44:54little more for passing those skill sets
1062. 44:55on on or two you're having to do deep
  1063. 44:59extraordinary cleaning okay so if you're
1064. 45:02doing that deep extraordinary clean the
1065. 45:04state will also pay you a little bit
  1066. 45:05more than Homemaker
  1067. 45:07basic now there's a few things that are
1068. 45:10specifically prohibited Lawn Care snow
1069. 45:13removal air duct cleaning and Animal
1070. 45:16Care okay so you can't get paid to mow
1071. 45:18your yard or shovel the driveway or
  1072. 45:21clean your air ducts I don't know how
1073. 45:23many of y'all clean your own air ducts
  1074. 45:25uh maybe I shouldn't admit this I don't
1075. 45:27clean my Air Duct so I've never had that
1076. 45:29conflict of interest but uh be that as
1077. 45:31it may no air duct cleaning and no
  1078. 45:33animal care I don't know why the state
  1079. 45:36specifically prohibits those but
1080. 45:38nonetheless they do so you can't get
1081. 45:40paid to do that but otherwise any sort
1082. 45:42of cleaning uh household maintenance
  1083. 45:46laundry anything you're doing in that
1084. 45:48home to make it clean safe sanitized
  1085. 45:51organized well-maintained that's the
1086. 45:54essence of Homemaker services so that
1087. 45:55way way that client can live in a safe
1088. 45:58clean organized environment again if you
1089. 46:01are doing it that's Homemaker basic if
1090. 46:04you're teaching them how to do it or
1091. 46:06doing that extraordinary deep cleaning
  1092. 46:09that can be Homemaker
1093. 46:11enhanced all right so let me just pause
  1094. 46:14here for just a minute uh again we'll
1095. 46:16open it up for Q&A for anyone who would
  1096. 46:18like to ask a question remember as a
1097. 46:20note this is being recorded So if you
1098. 46:22don't want to be recorded save it till
  1099. 46:24the end for open Q&A that's unrecorded
1100. 46:27otherwise feel free and uh to come off
1101. 46:29mute and ask a question about uh respit
1102. 46:32or Homemaker Services which again is
1103. 46:35available to anyone on the CES and SLS
  1104. 46:44waivers I I have a question I'll go
  1105. 46:48ahead
1106. 46:50soon um so my daughter's on the CES
  1107. 46:54waiver she's um
  1108. 46:56she's
1109. 46:57autistic for the basic and enhanced what
1110. 47:01is it one or the other what if it's both
  1111. 47:03because
1112. 47:04she's because she has other things going
1113. 47:07on too and so some days I am teaching
1114. 47:10her and like we cook together and then
1115. 47:13other days especially if she's got like
1116. 47:15an insomnia night her day isn't as good
1117. 47:18and so I'm going to be doing more I
1118. 47:20might be doing her launch because she
1119. 47:22can't so can you mix and match I guess
  1120. 47:25is what I'm asking
1121. 47:26yeah great question and you definitely
1122. 47:28can so again for parents you can do up
1123. 47:31to 10 hours a week so you can talk to
1124. 47:34your case manager and say hey I think
1125. 47:36it's five hours of each or maybe it's
1126. 47:39seven hours of basic because I clean for
  1127. 47:42an hour a day and then there's three
  1128. 47:44hours a week I'm teaching so you can
1129. 47:45work with your case manager to find that
  1130. 47:47split and then again if there's
1131. 47:50additional time like let's say you need
1132. 47:5220 hours a week of Homemaker well you
1133. 47:55can do 10 but someone else they can do
1134. 47:58additional of either so absolutely you
  1135. 48:00can Mi a match and I have a question
  1136. 48:02about that because my 18-year-old
1137. 48:04daughter so I have six kids my
1138. 48:0618-year-old daughter um lives at home
1139. 48:09and could she do that could she be the
1140. 48:12other person absolutely and or do respit
1141. 48:16for her for her sister she yeah she can
1142. 48:18do both she can do rbit Homemaker basic
  1143. 48:21Homemaker enhanced and Community
1144. 48:23Connector which we'll talk about in just
1145. 48:25a second but she can do all of those
1146. 48:28okay and then my last question is my
1147. 48:30daughter does have insomnia and some
1148. 48:33nights it is really bad is there a
1149. 48:35provision for kids like that who maybe I
1150. 48:38am up two or three hours a night and it
1151. 48:41is all the time but sometimes she does
1152. 48:43have a night and I do need to be up
1153. 48:46because you know impulsivity so sure
1154. 48:49sure yesion for that great question so
1155. 48:52there's not a time constraint in the day
  1156. 48:55so if you're up at 3:00 a.m. and you're
  1157. 48:58having to I don't know clean the Linens
  1158. 49:00or something for 30 minutes because
1159. 49:02there's been an accident or something
1160. 49:04you can go ahead and document that 30
1161. 49:06minutes under Homemaker or if your
1162. 49:0818-year-old daughter she could be doing
1163. 49:10a respit shift during the night where
  1164. 49:13she's the one who's monitoring and
1165. 49:15supervising let you know if she wakes up
  1166. 49:17at 400 a. your 18-year-old daughter is
1167. 49:19sitting with her for an hour that could
1168. 49:22count as respit okay thank you yeah
  1169. 49:25absolutely
  1170. 49:26and I think there was another
  1171. 49:27question yeah I I'd like some
1172. 49:30clarification on respit because my
  1173. 49:33daughter um attends a day
1174. 49:36program an adult Day program which I'm
1175. 49:40assuming is build separately to
  1176. 49:43[Music]
  1177. 49:44Medicaid um
  1178. 49:47so
1179. 49:49so how would the respit be paid to
  1180. 49:52somebody else if I if I arrange for
1181. 49:55somebody else to uh care for my daughter
  1182. 49:58for a period of
1183. 50:00Time how how would they get paid yeah
  1184. 50:04that's a great question you're right so
1185. 50:06Day program is a separate pool of
1186. 50:09funding so if you have respit in your
  1187. 50:12service plan and let's say you find a
  1188. 50:14neighbor a friend someone from your
  1189. 50:16church or whoever someone's willing to
1190. 50:19come and sit with your child then they
1191. 50:22would just need to do the same
1192. 50:24onboarding process your doing attend the
1193. 50:27orientation fill out the paperwork
1194. 50:31um uh orientation and paperwork those
1195. 50:34are the two and well we have the service
1196. 50:36plan so they just do those two things
1197. 50:39and then they can get paid to do that
1198. 50:41respit and come and sit with your child
1199. 50:43so uh you would just need to find that
1200. 50:45person make sure they're willing to do
1201. 50:47it and then just notify us of their name
1202. 50:49and email and phone number we'll contact
1203. 50:52them and get them all set up okay good
1204. 50:55question all right thanks yeah no
1205. 50:59problem so um I have two questions one
  1206. 51:03was what if they
  1207. 51:06don't what if they don't
1208. 51:09learn the the task for like enhan say we
1209. 51:14you know I've been working for years to
1210. 51:15try to get my son
1211. 51:17to clean and he's improved in very small
1212. 51:21areas and we spend lots of time doing
  1213. 51:24that um
1214. 51:26but we still report it the same and just
1215. 51:28say we did this many hours and then you
1216. 51:30know REO you know re look at it later on
1217. 51:33in the year with our case manager then
1218. 51:37yeah it's a great question so we do not
1219. 51:40care about the end result because you're
1220. 51:42right it I think about my sister too and
  1221. 51:45there's things we've been trying to
  1222. 51:46teach for 10 20 years right so we don't
1223. 51:48care about the end goal but if we're
1224. 51:50still teaching and trying you will
1225. 51:53definitely document and get paid for
1226. 51:54that time that you're trying to teach
1227. 51:56and educate and pass on those skills
1228. 51:58okay and then my other question was my
1229. 52:01wife has been part of this I'm just
1230. 52:03getting on it to basically try to help
1231. 52:06her um sure uh do I need to send the
  1232. 52:09service plan myself since it's already
1233. 52:11been sent for my kid and she's already
  1234. 52:13part of
1235. 52:14the no if we if your kids have your
1236. 52:17wife's been doing it through us and
1237. 52:19doing it for your kids we already have
1238. 52:21them on file um so we won't need that
  1239. 52:24again and tomorrow tomorrow you'll get
1240. 52:26an email saying what you're missing and
1241. 52:28my guess is the service plan is not
1242. 52:30going to be listed there because we
  1243. 52:31already have it okay that's I was gonna
1244. 52:34have her send it because I know she
1245. 52:35knows the case manager better than yeah
1246. 52:37we probably already have it so you're
1247. 52:38all set thank you no problem and then
  1248. 52:41Angie with a hand raise will be you'll
1249. 52:43be our last question and then we'll keep
  1250. 52:45moving
1251. 52:46on okay can you hear me yes we can hear
1252. 52:50you okay good now the intake coordinator
1253. 52:54at d DRC told me that my son has 28,000
1254. 52:59a year or something but that if he goes
1255. 53:02to a DAT program that money comes out of
  1256. 53:06that
1257. 53:0928,000 but you said they were
1258. 53:13separate yep great question Angie so let
1259. 53:16me clarify so it's the same pool of
  1260. 53:18funding that you use I was saying it's a
  1261. 53:21separate service but you're right it's
1262. 53:24the same pool of fun for the SLS waiver
1263. 53:27good question okay thank you yeah yeah
  1264. 53:30thanks for the
1265. 53:31clarification all right so now let's go
1266. 53:33ahead and move on to the next three
1267. 53:36services uh we're going to start with
1268. 53:38Community Connector which is only for
1269. 53:41children and then we're going to talk
1270. 53:43about personal care and mentorship which
1271. 53:45are only for the adults so Community
1272. 53:48Connector again only for children under
1273. 53:52the age of 18 on the CES waiver
1274. 53:56the goal of Community Connector is we
1275. 53:59are taking our children out into the
1276. 54:02community and teaching them how to be
1277. 54:04successful and helping them to integrate
1278. 54:07into the community to learn how to
1279. 54:09leverage resources in the community so
1280. 54:11that way as they age into adulthood they
1281. 54:14have a foundation to be successful as
1282. 54:16they leave their home and venture out
  1283. 54:18into the community so there's two
1284. 54:20important pieces to Community Connector
1285. 54:23number one you go into the community
1286. 54:26outside your home and it can be anywhere
1287. 54:29it can be uh the library the park the
1288. 54:33museum a baseball game the grocery store
1289. 54:37a restaurant anywhere outside your home
1290. 54:40you're going to go there and then number
  1291. 54:42two while you're there you're working on
1292. 54:45specific skills and goals to help them
1293. 54:49be successful in the community they can
1294. 54:52be social behavioral navig ational
  1295. 54:56safety resources it doesn't matter but
  1296. 54:59you're out in the community you're
1297. 55:01working on skills and goals tailor to
1298. 55:03them to teach them and show them how to
1299. 55:06behave and socialize and engage and
1300. 55:08interact with their community so a few
1301. 55:11examples it could be you're taking your
1302. 55:13eight-year-old out to the park and while
1303. 55:16you're there you're working on how do we
1304. 55:19keep our hands to ourselves not yell at
1305. 55:22other kids how do we vocalize that we
1306. 55:24want to turn on the swing set how do we
1307. 55:27find a restroom how do we stay safe and
1308. 55:30not go into the roads stay on the
1309. 55:32sidewalk and stay at the park to be some
1310. 55:35ideas right or examples maybe you have a
  1311. 55:3816-year-old and you're going to the
1312. 55:40movie theater and you're working on how
1313. 55:42do we purchase a ticket how do we get
1314. 55:44into the theater we know we want to go
1315. 55:46see uh the new Super Mario movie how do
1316. 55:50we do it well we got to buy a ticket how
1317. 55:52do we buy a ticket how do we pay for it
1318. 55:54with money how do we use the kiosk Well
1319. 55:57we'd like to buy some popcorn so how do
1320. 56:00we vocalize to the concession worker
1321. 56:02that we want popcorn but with no butter
1322. 56:05we don't want butter so how can we
1323. 56:07practice that or how do we find the
1324. 56:09restroom in a theater how do we behave
1325. 56:11do we talk loud or do we whisper do we
1326. 56:14kick the chair in front of us so you
1327. 56:16kind of get the idea but you're out in
  1328. 56:18the community you're working on those
1329. 56:20skills and goals to help them be
  1330. 56:23successful now a couple things for
  1331. 56:25Community Connector number one it's not
1332. 56:28for just purely recreational play so if
1333. 56:32you're out at the park and you're
1334. 56:33sitting on the bench and they're playing
1335. 56:35that's not really Community Connector
1336. 56:38but if you're with them and teaching and
1337. 56:40coaching then that absolutely is
  1338. 56:43Community
1339. 56:44Connector a second thing is it can have
1340. 56:47nothing to do with school so everything
1341. 56:50School related is off limits so uh no
1342. 56:54field trips volunteering in the
1343. 56:56classroom after school activities those
1344. 56:58are off limits but pretty much anywhere
1345. 57:01outside the community or I should say
1346. 57:02everything outside of school year fair
  1347. 57:04game so that's Community Connector again
1348. 57:08only for the children now parents on the
1349. 57:13CES waiver or parents with a child on
1350. 57:17the CES waiver you cannot do respit but
1351. 57:21you can do Homemaker and community
  1352. 57:24connector again I've already mentioned
1353. 57:26the limits you have 10 hours a week on
1354. 57:31average so you can go a little above
1355. 57:33that if you needed to for one week or
  1356. 57:35something but you're shooting for the
  1357. 57:38that's and I should say that's the max
1358. 57:40so you can do less than that but you can
1359. 57:42go up to 10 hours for Community
1360. 57:44Connector and up to 10 hours a week for
1361. 57:46Homemaker Services if you have more
1362. 57:50Community Connector or more Homemaker in
1363. 57:52your plan you'll just need to have
1364. 57:54someone else who can do that and again
1365. 57:57we can onboard them within a week uh to
1366. 57:59provide those services in addition to
  1367. 58:01things you're doing or if you say I
1368. 58:03don't want to do it all I want to have
1369. 58:05someone else do it doesn't matter to us
1370. 58:07we're we'll do whatever is best for the
1371. 58:09family so but just know as parents you
1372. 58:12can do Homemaker you can do Community
1373. 58:14Connector for your children up to 10
1374. 58:16hours on average per week for each
1375. 58:20bucket now let's move into our last two
1376. 58:23Services which are specifically focused
1377. 58:25on the SLS waiver supported Living
1378. 58:28Services for our adults now parents of
1379. 58:32adult children on the SLS waiver you can
1380. 58:36get paid to do the Homemaker which we
1381. 58:39talked about and then these next two
1382. 58:41Services personal care and mentorship so
1383. 58:44let's talk about them so personal care
1384. 58:49the goal of personal care is we as the
1385. 58:52parent or as the individual supporting
  1386. 58:54them
1387. 58:55we are there to help them
1388. 58:58accomplish their daily weekly frequently
1389. 59:02occurring tasks in their everyday life
1390. 59:05that they just need a little extra
1391. 59:06assistance in doing it uh so that way
1392. 59:09they can do it successfully it's things
1393. 59:11we're all doing as we go through our day
1394. 59:13and our week but because our clients
1395. 59:16have an intellectual or developmental
1396. 59:18disability they just need a little extra
1397. 59:20support as they go through those things
  1398. 59:23as an adult now that 18 they're expected
1399. 59:26to do these things and since they need a
1400. 59:28little extra support in doing them we
1401. 59:30can get paid or caregivers can get paid
1402. 59:33to support and assist them in these
  1403. 59:35activities to make sure that they're
1404. 59:37being successful in their Endeavors so a
1405. 59:40few things what this could entail
1406. 59:42accompanyment so as we accompany them to
1407. 59:45a doctor's visit uh we can get paid to
1408. 59:47do that as an adult they should be able
1409. 59:49to go to a dentist or a doctor that way
1410. 59:52they can make sure they're healthy but
1411. 59:54maybe they can't do that on their own so
1412. 59:55we're going to accompany them to those
1413. 59:58things to make sure they can get access
1414. 59:59to medical or health care as they need
1415. 1:00:03medication monitoring again we cannot
  1416. 1:00:06administer medication that's a no no we
1417. 1:00:09can't give it to them but we can help
1418. 1:00:12them monitor it so set reminders the
1419. 1:00:14pill Boxes Etc give them a cup of water
1420. 1:00:17coach them through it that could be
1421. 1:00:20personal care meal planning or shopping
1422. 1:00:23so helping them put together grocery
1423. 1:00:25store list taking them to the grocery
1424. 1:00:27store shopping purchasing out how to use
1425. 1:00:30coupons going to the mall trying on
1426. 1:00:33clothes so you can help them with that
1427. 1:00:35and get uh for personal care managing
  1428. 1:00:38their money once they're 21 you can also
1429. 1:00:41get paid to do their ADLs activities of
1430. 1:00:45daily living or assisted daily living
1431. 1:00:47activities whichever you subscribe to uh
1432. 1:00:49which is eating dressing bathing
1433. 1:00:51grooming uh personal hygiene all of that
1434. 1:00:54if they're 21 or older you can get paid
1435. 1:00:56to do again we're not doing it for them
  1436. 1:00:59so we're not helping them we're not
1437. 1:01:01feeding them bathing them dressing them
1438. 1:01:05shaving them but we can get paid to
1439. 1:01:08support them in those things so we open
1440. 1:01:11up the shower they climb in we close it
1441. 1:01:14we're monitoring oh make sure you use
1442. 1:01:16the shampoo oh you missed a spot Etc so
  1443. 1:01:19we're monitoring we're assisting
1444. 1:01:21coaching guiding them through those
  1445. 1:01:23activities that they're doing
1446. 1:01:24as they move through their daily weekly
  1447. 1:01:27their everyday life uh and we're we're
  1448. 1:01:29supporting them accompanying them
1449. 1:01:31helping them that is the essence of
1450. 1:01:34personal care now contrasting that with
1451. 1:01:37the last service for our adults which is
  1452. 1:01:39mentorship mentorship is specifically
1453. 1:01:42designed for when we need to have those
1454. 1:01:44kind of life conversations big
  1455. 1:01:46conversations coach through difficult
1456. 1:01:48decisions Etc as the name would imply
  1457. 1:01:51we're mentoring right so we're going
1458. 1:01:53Beyond just supporting them through an
  1459. 1:01:56activity that's more personal care and
  1460. 1:01:58now we're needing to have a conversation
1461. 1:02:00to mentor to coach to make sure they're
1462. 1:02:02making good decisions and things that
1463. 1:02:04will help them be successful so this
1464. 1:02:06could be things like hey they want to
  1465. 1:02:09pursue additional education maybe
1466. 1:02:11they're going to a day program they want
1467. 1:02:13to do something else so we're going to
  1468. 1:02:15do a mentoring conversation for a couple
1469. 1:02:17hours and chat about well what are
  1470. 1:02:19options out there there's online courses
1471. 1:02:22there's a trade school and how do we EV
1472. 1:02:24valate the costs and the time commitment
1473. 1:02:26and the location or maybe they're moving
1474. 1:02:29out to an apartment how do we find a
1475. 1:02:31good apartment how do we evaluate
  1476. 1:02:33roommates or there's a medical decision
1477. 1:02:36they've hurt their need well should we
1478. 1:02:38rehab or have a procedure done what are
1479. 1:02:40the pros and cons of each of them Etc so
  1480. 1:02:43as you're helping them coaching them
1481. 1:02:45mentoring them through these types of
1482. 1:02:48decisions uh Etc that's the goal of
  1483. 1:02:52mentorship mentorship has about a limit
1484. 1:02:55that most case managers put in of four
  1485. 1:02:57hours a month so it's not too frequent
1486. 1:03:00but it allows for one or two three four
  1487. 1:03:03conversations a month where you're
1488. 1:03:05needing to really mentor and instruct on
1489. 1:03:08different decisions that are being made
  1490. 1:03:10so
1491. 1:03:12again SLS supported Living Services for
1492. 1:03:16adults you have access to respit
  1493. 1:03:19Homemaker Personal Care mentorship
1494. 1:03:22parents you cannot do respit but you can
1495. 1:03:25do Homemaker personal care mentorship
1496. 1:03:29for the CES waiver children extensive
1497. 1:03:32support waiver for children under 18 you
1498. 1:03:35have access to respit Homemaker
1499. 1:03:38Community Connector parents cannot do
1500. 1:03:41rbit but you can do homemaking and
  1501. 1:03:44Community
1502. 1:03:45Connector so let me pause there for a
1503. 1:03:48minute any questions about those last
1504. 1:03:51three services the Community Connector
1505. 1:03:53for the children children or for the
  1506. 1:03:56adults personal care and
1507. 1:03:58mentorship yes uh Helena go for it if I
  1508. 1:04:02say if I'm
1509. 1:04:07pronouncing oh sorry uh Helena I was
1510. 1:04:10getting some feedback so let me uh let's
1511. 1:04:13try that again see if we can hear
1512. 1:04:16you feel free to come off mute Helena
1513. 1:04:19and ask your question go for
1514. 1:04:21it okay can you hear me now yeah yes
1515. 1:04:24perfect okay so my question is regarding
1516. 1:04:28the Community Connector hours you said
1517. 1:04:31that we could get 10 right possibly so
1518. 1:04:35if we get 10 hours of Community
1519. 1:04:37Connector can they be split between two
1520. 1:04:41parents or are they per
1521. 1:04:44parent great question so you can
1522. 1:04:47actually have more Community Connector
1523. 1:04:50hours but the state will limit it to 10
  1524. 1:04:54about 10 hours a week for parents and
1525. 1:04:57Guardians so if you and your husband
1526. 1:05:00were going to do it you both could go up
1527. 1:05:02to 10 hours in a week so you could go
1528. 1:05:05five hours for you five hours for your
1529. 1:05:06husband for the 10 but then you can have
1530. 1:05:10other people go above that 10hour limit
1531. 1:05:13does that make sense or any questions on
1532. 1:05:16that so it still equates to 10 the 10 is
1533. 1:05:19split between two parents it's not like
  1534. 1:05:22he gets 10 and I get 10 correct yep the
1535. 1:05:2510 is split between the parents and then
1536. 1:05:27anything extra can be done by
  1537. 1:05:31non-parents good question
1538. 1:05:33okay yeah Angie feel free to ask your
  1539. 1:05:38question okay so for mentorship it's
  1540. 1:05:43only
1541. 1:05:46conversation uh typically yes if did you
1542. 1:05:49have something else in mind well like I
1543. 1:05:54mean I work on a lot of that stuff with
1544. 1:05:57Zach when we go out in the community
  1545. 1:06:00but his skill level doesn't give me a
  1546. 1:06:05lot of room for
1547. 1:06:07conversation sure oh yeah yeah it's more
1548. 1:06:10show me rather than tell me I see I see
1549. 1:06:14yes so yep so nonverbal communication
1550. 1:06:17would also be okay for mentorship that's
1551. 1:06:19totally fine as long as you're still
1552. 1:06:21getting across those core ideas and
1553. 1:06:24Concepts in terms of hey what should we
1554. 1:06:27do how should we handle this situation
1555. 1:06:30that we're in that would be okay as well
1556. 1:06:33okay so like just for an
1557. 1:06:36example if I take him to a movie or
1558. 1:06:41something but you talk about safety and
1559. 1:06:45how you buy your stuff that is
1560. 1:06:50mentorship yeah so that would probably
1561. 1:06:53fall more under personal care which
1562. 1:06:56would be hey we're going to do some
1563. 1:06:57activities how do we behave and you know
1564. 1:07:01engage mentorship is more for kind of
1565. 1:07:04the big critical conversation so for
1566. 1:07:05instance it could be something like
1567. 1:07:07safety at the movie theater that would
1568. 1:07:10be okay to have a mentoring type
  1569. 1:07:12conversation but if we're talking about
  1570. 1:07:14how do we purchase concessions that's
1571. 1:07:16probably going to be outside the scope
1572. 1:07:18of mentorship does that make
1573. 1:07:20sense yeah he just is nonverbal so
  1574. 1:07:25like a conversation's going to be pretty
1575. 1:07:28one way sure yeah and again nonverbal
1576. 1:07:32communication and and feel free to call
1577. 1:07:34us too Angie and we can give more
1578. 1:07:36specific examples right but if however
1579. 1:07:39you're communicating and engaging with
1580. 1:07:41your son about hey how we got to have a
1581. 1:07:44conversation or we need to convey the
1582. 1:07:47idea of safety at a movie theater and
  1583. 1:07:49we're GNA signal there that's a no or
1584. 1:07:52whatever it is right to know that hey
1585. 1:07:55this is how you how we're going to be
1586. 1:07:57safe and protected at the movie theater
1587. 1:07:59then yeah that could fall under
1588. 1:08:01mentorship okay thanks yeah no
1589. 1:08:05problem uh Stella go ahead and ask your
1590. 1:08:08question and then this will be the last
1591. 1:08:10question and then we'll continue to move
1592. 1:08:12on um okay so you said you know school
1593. 1:08:16is not a thing um it's part of it uh
1594. 1:08:20however I homeschool my daughter um she
1595. 1:08:24goes to a program twice a week but then
1596. 1:08:26she's home three days a week and we try
  1597. 1:08:28to she's actually fairly independent
1598. 1:08:30with it but how would a homeschooling
1599. 1:08:33parent fall under that like if I'm
1600. 1:08:35saying okay now it's time to do
1601. 1:08:37your you know English paper for me and
1602. 1:08:41it's not that I'm doing it for her but
  1603. 1:08:43I'm I'm prompting her and I'm probably
1604. 1:08:46checking on her to make sure she's
1605. 1:08:48getting it done so how how would a
1606. 1:08:49homeschooling parent fall under that
  1607. 1:08:51would that be a
  1608. 1:08:52whole non thing yeah so it's it's a
1609. 1:08:57great question so we've asked the state
1610. 1:08:59a couple times about the homeschooling
  1611. 1:09:01situation typically so here's the advice
1612. 1:09:04we've gotten right so if they're at home
1613. 1:09:06doing like an online group or something
1614. 1:09:09and that would probably not fall under
  1615. 1:09:12Community Connector now if it's hey
1616. 1:09:14we're all going to meet up at the park
1617. 1:09:16for an hour their homeschool groups all
1618. 1:09:19going to do a meet up and engage with
1619. 1:09:21each other that could probably be okay
1620. 1:09:23to still be Community Connector but just
1621. 1:09:26doing schoolwork at home even if it's in
1622. 1:09:28a group setting it's probably not going
1623. 1:09:30to fall under the scope of Community
1624. 1:09:31Connector does that does that make sense
1625. 1:09:33or any other questions on that yeah that
  1626. 1:09:36that's fine it it's just because it's
  1627. 1:09:38it's it's a skill set that I'm teaching
1628. 1:09:41for one thing you know is it's for her
1629. 1:09:43to learn how to do work independently
1630. 1:09:46you know so I just wondered how that um
1631. 1:09:49that falls into things um because for
1632. 1:09:52somebody like her it's just just in our
1633. 1:09:54situation it's just better to do it that
1634. 1:09:56way but and then you know so like if I
1635. 1:09:59take her because she has like she does
1636. 1:10:01music therapy and she does actually
1637. 1:10:02through the CES waer and then she does
1638. 1:10:04um I'm not really part of that though
1639. 1:10:07she goes into that by herself but then
1640. 1:10:09like she has physical therapy and she
1641. 1:10:11goes to the chiropractor those kinds of
1642. 1:10:12things because of other issues and I'm
  1643. 1:10:15present sometimes I interact sometimes I
1644. 1:10:18don't how does something like
1645. 1:10:21that work yeah yeah so for instance
  1646. 1:10:24right like if let's say she has a
  1647. 1:10:26physical therapy appointment and we're
1648. 1:10:27we're we take her there and we're
1649. 1:10:29sitting out in the waiting room for 15
1650. 1:10:32minutes and we're chatting about hey how
1651. 1:10:34do we what do we do in a waiting room
1652. 1:10:36and how do we behave and who do we talk
1653. 1:10:38to and how do we what are we what are we
1654. 1:10:40waiting for right someone to come in and
1655. 1:10:42notify us so that could all be Community
  1656. 1:10:45Connector once you're in the therapy
1657. 1:10:47visit then you can't get paid to do
  1658. 1:10:49Community Connector because it's falling
1659. 1:10:51under the therapy session but before and
1660. 1:10:54after as you're talking about where you
1661. 1:10:56are and how to behave and you know what
1662. 1:10:58this whole thing is about that could all
1663. 1:11:00be Community Connector if that answers
  1664. 1:11:02your question okay yeah that's that's
1665. 1:11:04because like waiting for the
  1666. 1:11:05chiropractor sometimes there's things
1667. 1:11:06she's supposed to do beforehand and
  1668. 1:11:08sometimes it's a long wait if absolutely
1669. 1:11:11that prior and then um just real quickly
1670. 1:11:14so I'm trying to get my brother here um
1671. 1:11:18and get him on like the SLS and but I'm
1672. 1:11:21not his parent I would be his his you
1673. 1:11:24know obviously so would I still be able
1674. 1:11:27to do things like the things that you
1675. 1:11:29were talking about because you said
1676. 1:11:31parents I was wondering if yeah yeah so
1677. 1:11:33if you're not so so a couple things so
1678. 1:11:36um if you're not his parent or Guardian
1679. 1:11:39then you could do respit for him but
1680. 1:11:42even but if you and I don't know the
1681. 1:11:44guardianship situation but even if you
1682. 1:11:46were his Guardian then you could still
1683. 1:11:48do the other services the key thing for
1684. 1:11:51you will be to reach out to your case
1685. 1:11:52manager to get him signed up on the SLS
1686. 1:11:56waiver and if he's an adult if he's his
1687. 1:11:58own Guardian then you as you know an
1688. 1:12:01authorized rep or something can work
1689. 1:12:03with the case manager and him to put
1690. 1:12:06together that service plan and then
1691. 1:12:07absolutely you could do the services for
1692. 1:12:09them okay thank you yeah no
1693. 1:12:12problem all right so now let's shift
  1694. 1:12:15gears for a little bit we're g to talk
1695. 1:12:17about compliance for a little bit uh
1696. 1:12:20we're going to talk about really the key
1697. 1:12:22thing here is how do we make sure we
  1698. 1:12:23keep the clients those that we're
1699. 1:12:25supporting safe and protected as well as
  1700. 1:12:28ourselves as caregivers so that's what
1701. 1:12:30we're going to talk about for the next
1702. 1:12:31five or 10 minutes so couple things to
1703. 1:12:35note one is that our clients have rights
1704. 1:12:41and this is important to understand
1705. 1:12:43which is just because they have an
  1706. 1:12:45intellectual or developmental disability
1707. 1:12:48does not remove or hinder in any way
1708. 1:12:52their rights okay they have the same
1709. 1:12:54rights that we all do so for instance
1710. 1:12:56they have a right to safety so just like
1711. 1:12:59everyone right they should never uh be
  1712. 1:13:01in an environment where they're abused
1713. 1:13:03they live in fear retaliation they
1714. 1:13:05should be able to move around freely we
1715. 1:13:07never confine or restrain or lock them
1716. 1:13:10in a room pretty much we don't lock them
1717. 1:13:12up or they should be safe they should be
1718. 1:13:15able to move around freely we treat them
1719. 1:13:17with respect so them and their property
1720. 1:13:20I'll also mention so for instance we
1721. 1:13:22treat them with respect we in our speech
1722. 1:13:25our language our interactions with them
1723. 1:13:27we allow them to communicate to make
1724. 1:13:29choices to make decisions right we don't
1725. 1:13:32just supersede them and make all the
1726. 1:13:34decisions for them and not allow them to
1727. 1:13:36have a say in things they have rights to
1728. 1:13:39be treated with respect and have their
1729. 1:13:40opinions and voices heard we also keep
  1730. 1:13:43everything confidential so if we're
1731. 1:13:44coming over to provide a service and we
1732. 1:13:46learn things about the family or their
1733. 1:13:48house or Etc we don't go home and gossip
1734. 1:13:51about that with our friends we keep
1735. 1:13:53those things confidential to the family
1736. 1:13:55and those that were supporting and then
1737. 1:13:57when it also comes to their services our
  1738. 1:14:00clients have a right to know what we're
1739. 1:14:02there to do what's in their service plan
1740. 1:14:05when you show up for a service what are
1741. 1:14:07you there doing right none of us would
1742. 1:14:09want a surprise visit from the doctor
1743. 1:14:11where we show up and we don't know
1744. 1:14:13what's about to happen right so we make
  1745. 1:14:15sure they're involved they have a say
1746. 1:14:17they have a voice they can file
1747. 1:14:19complaints or Express concerns about
1748. 1:14:20their care at any time we take them just
1749. 1:14:23as serious as any other concern so the
1750. 1:14:26moral here of the story
1751. 1:14:28is make sure your clients are safe
1752. 1:14:31they're respected and they have a part
1753. 1:14:34when it comes to their uh uh receiving
1754. 1:14:36Services they have a voice in that so
1755. 1:14:39again most of this is common sense but
1756. 1:14:41the key thing here is just because they
  1757. 1:14:42have a disability it doesn't take away
1758. 1:14:45these rights they still have the same
1759. 1:14:46rights that we all do now back to the
1760. 1:14:49safety there are four instances Where We
  1761. 1:14:52Are
  1762. 1:14:53now mandatory reporters since we're
1763. 1:14:56operating under the state uh Medicaid
1764. 1:14:58waiver program so if any of these four
1765. 1:15:00situations arise our job is to call 911
1766. 1:15:04and alert the Police uh in order to keep
1767. 1:15:07them safe they are all urgent enough
1768. 1:15:10where we need some intervention so we're
1769. 1:15:13going to talk about each of them real
  1770. 1:15:14briefly the first is
1771. 1:15:17mistreatment mistreatment is when you
1772. 1:15:19come into a situation you show up to do
  1773. 1:15:22a respit visit
1774. 1:15:23and you notice that there is a threat or
  1775. 1:15:26danger to your
1776. 1:15:28client something bad has not happened
1777. 1:15:31yet but is very likely there's an
1778. 1:15:35imminent threat or danger and if there's
1779. 1:15:37no intervention your client could get
1780. 1:15:39seriously hurt or injured so for
1781. 1:15:42instance this could be you notice
1782. 1:15:43there's a gun on the table you notice
1783. 1:15:45open medication Etc anything where
1784. 1:15:48you're thinking ooh if nothing happens
1785. 1:15:51my client could get involved and could
1786. 1:15:53could get hurt with this so we're going
1787. 1:15:54to call the police in almost all these
  1788. 1:15:56instances they'll give some direction
1789. 1:15:58over the phone they'll send someone out
1790. 1:16:00Etc again the goal here is they will
1791. 1:16:02eliminate that threat so that way your
  1792. 1:16:04client isn't exposed to a threat abuse
1793. 1:16:08if you ever witness or suspect your
1794. 1:16:11client is being abused we're going to
  1795. 1:16:13call 911 and we're also going to report
1796. 1:16:16this this is any type of abuse physical
1797. 1:16:19sexual emotional verbal any type of
1798. 1:16:22abuse that again you see the bruising on
1799. 1:16:25them or they tell you things where you
1800. 1:16:27think my client may be abused we're
1801. 1:16:29going to report that so that way they
  1802. 1:16:32can be protected
  1803. 1:16:34okay confining or restraining if there's
1804. 1:16:37an instance of active abuse and to
  1805. 1:16:40protect the client's immediate safety
1806. 1:16:42you need to confine or restrain them
1807. 1:16:44which means restrain would mean like
1808. 1:16:46hold them down uh or hold their hands or
1809. 1:16:49something confine would mean lock them
1810. 1:16:51in a room you're allowed to do that for
1811. 1:16:53a short period of time 10 minutes or
1812. 1:16:56less so you can call 911 and get the
1813. 1:16:58authorities there so for instance if
  1814. 1:17:00they have a knife and they're posing
1815. 1:17:01self harm you can grab them so they stop
1816. 1:17:04or if someone's trying to get to them
1817. 1:17:06lock them in a room so you can do that
  1818. 1:17:08for a short period of time while 911
1819. 1:17:10arrives to protect them otherwise we
1820. 1:17:12don't confine or restrain and then the
1821. 1:17:15the moral of the story for this one is
1822. 1:17:16if you witness or suspect abuse we're
1823. 1:17:20going to call the authorities to make
  1824. 1:17:21sure it's investigated and stopped
1825. 1:17:24neglect if your client is ever being
1826. 1:17:27deprived the necessities of life food
1827. 1:17:29clothing shelter medication well they
1828. 1:17:32need those things to survive and to be
1829. 1:17:34healthy so if they're not getting them
1830. 1:17:35we're going to report that okay and then
1831. 1:17:38the last is exploitation if your client
1832. 1:17:41is ever being taken advantage of them or
1833. 1:17:44their property that's not okay so we
1834. 1:17:47report those things as well so if your
1835. 1:17:48client tells you things like hey my
1836. 1:17:50neighbor is forcing me to M's yard or or
1837. 1:17:53some guy rides by on his bike and tells
1838. 1:17:55me I have to pay him $10 to live here
1839. 1:17:57whatever but you feel like they're being
1840. 1:18:00exploited or taken advantage of them or
  1841. 1:18:02their property we're going to report
1842. 1:18:05that so that way it stops that's not
1843. 1:18:07right so again mistreatment abuse
  1844. 1:18:09neglect exploitation we're contacting
  1845. 1:18:12the authorities to make sure they're
1846. 1:18:13aware because it requires some immediate
1847. 1:18:15or some urgency in um the resolution now
1848. 1:18:19sometimes other things happen bad things
1849. 1:18:22happen that don't rise to this level for
  1850. 1:18:25those things we're going to file what's
1851. 1:18:27called an incident report an incident
1852. 1:18:29report is when hey we're out walking and
1853. 1:18:32they fall and tweak their ankle or um
1854. 1:18:35you get an offender Bender or they get
1855. 1:18:38really sick all of a sudden or you know
1856. 1:18:41um I don't know they drop their iPad and
1857. 1:18:43it shatters or something right so
  1858. 1:18:45something bad happens no one's immediate
1859. 1:18:48safety or threat is at risk so we don't
1860. 1:18:51need to call the police
1861. 1:18:53so but we still need to report this and
1862. 1:18:55we do that through an incident report we
1863. 1:18:57will show everyone how to do this but
1864. 1:19:00whenever you go to document at the top
1865. 1:19:03it will say were there any
1866. 1:19:05incidents you know and it gives a few
1867. 1:19:07examples um and you would just say yes
1868. 1:19:10and click report and just file a little
1869. 1:19:12report it'll have things like who was
1870. 1:19:15involved when did this happen Etc we get
1871. 1:19:18that how was it handled so we'll get
1872. 1:19:20that we'll then follow up with you
1873. 1:19:22follow up with uh the family make sure
1874. 1:19:25everyone's aware on the same page about
1875. 1:19:28how to proceed and the biggest reason
1876. 1:19:30for this is no one likes bad surprises
1877. 1:19:33so we don't want to go four or five days
1878. 1:19:35and then find out like oh the client's
1879. 1:19:37knee is really bruised and injured so
1880. 1:19:39file an incident report as soon as
1881. 1:19:41possible within 24 hours so that way we
1882. 1:19:44can review it make sure that client is
1883. 1:19:46safe and they get the care that they
1884. 1:19:48need so you'll file an incident an
1885. 1:19:51incident report through the website
1886. 1:19:53we'll show you how to do this in just a
1887. 1:19:55second if any of those incidents occur
1888. 1:19:59okay any questions on compliance related
1889. 1:20:03topics before we move uh move
  1890. 1:20:11on okay
1891. 1:20:14so um so we're kind of done with part
1892. 1:20:16one of the training which is our
1893. 1:20:19policies and procedures so round of
1894. 1:20:21applause for everyone for kind of making
1895. 1:20:22it through the first part we're now
1896. 1:20:24going to shift gears and we're going to
1897. 1:20:25talk about documenting uh put another
1898. 1:20:28way we're going to talk about how do you
1899. 1:20:30now go to our website and type in what
1900. 1:20:34you did so that way you can get paid to
  1901. 1:20:36receive services so that's what we'll
1902. 1:20:38talk about for probably the next 20
1903. 1:20:40minutes and then again we'll go to open
  1904. 1:20:42Q&A after that so that's what we'll be
  1905. 1:20:45doing now
1906. 1:20:47so how do I get paid for my services
1907. 1:20:51well you have to document them how do I
1908. 1:20:54document them well we will show you that
1909. 1:20:57now there are two steps to documenting
  1910. 1:21:01and getting
1911. 1:21:02paid step number one is to create a
  1912. 1:21:06schedule which is a plan so it's hey
1913. 1:21:08this is when I think I'm going to work
1914. 1:21:11everyone will use our website to do this
1915. 1:21:14we'll show you how to do it in just a
  1916. 1:21:15second after you've created the plan
1917. 1:21:19which is this is when I think I will
1918. 1:21:21work you will later go back in to do
1919. 1:21:24step two which is to document what
1920. 1:21:27actually happened when you actually
1921. 1:21:29worked and what you actually did now if
  1922. 1:21:32you're a
1923. 1:21:33parent or you live in the same house you
1924. 1:21:36can also do this on the website but if
1925. 1:21:39you do not live with your client you're
1926. 1:21:41going to have to use your mobile phone
1927. 1:21:44to do this and we'll show you how but
1928. 1:21:46just keep that in mind so I'm what I'm
1929. 1:21:49going to do now is shift gears to our
  1930. 1:21:51website here
1931. 1:21:54uh and walk everyone through what this
1932. 1:21:55is to look like let me zoom in a little
  1933. 1:21:58bit
1934. 1:21:59here okay so the website that we use is
1935. 1:22:03called can time it's up here in the top
1936. 1:22:06left corner in your welcome email you
1937. 1:22:10will get the website and also your
1938. 1:22:13username and password so that'll come in
1939. 1:22:15your welcome email so you can just click
1940. 1:22:17the link and type in your username and
1941. 1:22:20password and this is then what it will
  1942. 1:22:22look like so a brief
  1943. 1:22:25orientation is there's not too many
1944. 1:22:27places to click but where you'll always
1945. 1:22:29go first is client and Client List the
1946. 1:22:33first thing we want to do is to go find
1947. 1:22:35the client that we're going to be
1948. 1:22:37logging services for when I click that
1949. 1:22:40at the top there's some fancy filtering
1950. 1:22:43options you can ignore that and you'll
1951. 1:22:45come down here and all the clients that
1952. 1:22:48you work for will be listed so if you're
1953. 1:22:51a parent and have one or two children
1954. 1:22:53they'll be here if you're working for
1955. 1:22:55two or three families their names will
1956. 1:22:57all be here and if you click on their
1957. 1:23:00name it will load that client or that
  1958. 1:23:02individual's
1959. 1:23:04profile there's three parts up here in
1960. 1:23:07the top left part one their profile just
1961. 1:23:11high level overview of name and their
1962. 1:23:14address the third one is their
1963. 1:23:17authorization or put in another way this
1964. 1:23:19is their service plan so this will
  1965. 1:23:22specify what services they've
1966. 1:23:25received or they can receive how much
1967. 1:23:28you've used and how much you have left
1968. 1:23:31so again at any time you can get in to
1969. 1:23:34see exactly how much have I used how
1970. 1:23:37much do I have left to make sure you
1971. 1:23:39stay on track so that's found here in
  1972. 1:23:41the
1973. 1:23:42authorization where you will do 99% of
1974. 1:23:46your work though in can time is in this
  1975. 1:23:48second part here
1976. 1:23:49schedules when you click schedules the
1977. 1:23:52first thing that you'll notice is that
1978. 1:23:54there's a history of all your past work
1979. 1:23:57so at any time you can always get in to
1980. 1:23:59see hey you know what's this date back
1981. 1:24:02on May 2nd we did rest fit from 10: to
1982. 1:24:0510:30 okay so you always have a history
1983. 1:24:08of what was ever provided and who did it
  1984. 1:24:10and what service was
1985. 1:24:12provided okay so now let's get into for
1986. 1:24:16our purposes today the two steps so
1987. 1:24:21let's say I'm going to provide respit
  1988. 1:24:24this Friday night okay let's say I'm a
  1989. 1:24:26grandparent I live in my client's home I
  1990. 1:24:30live in the basement there's a room for
  1991. 1:24:32me set aside there that's where I live
1992. 1:24:35and I'm going to be doing RIT for the
1993. 1:24:37parents so that way they can go out for
  1994. 1:24:39Friday and I'll be watching the
1995. 1:24:41individual so Two Steps step one I
1996. 1:24:46create a schedule which is my plan for
1997. 1:24:49working how I do that is here in the top
  1998. 1:24:51right there's 's a button that says
  1999. 1:24:53create
  2000. 1:24:54schedule you'll click that and then
2001. 1:24:57you'll click custom pattern there are
2002. 1:25:00some other fancier scheduling options
2003. 1:25:03that will pretty much never apply to
  2004. 1:25:04what we're doing so you'll hit Uh custom
2005. 1:25:08schedule when you do that you'll Focus
2006. 1:25:11here on the schedule info
2007. 1:25:14section for shift you'll put the service
  2008. 1:25:18that you're providing so
  2009. 1:25:21respit
2010. 1:25:23the discipline will always say Aid it's
2011. 1:25:25the only thing you can pick so you can
2012. 1:25:27typically just skip it for
2013. 1:25:30service here is where you will clarify
2014. 1:25:33if you live with the client or if you do
2015. 1:25:38not live with them if I live with them I
  2016. 1:25:42just select respit but if I don't I
2017. 1:25:44would select non live in
2018. 1:25:48respit okay I live with them so I'm just
  2019. 1:25:51going to select rest
2020. 1:25:53bit for my start time I'll input the
2021. 1:25:57time that I'm planning to start and be
2022. 1:25:59done now notice can time uses military
2023. 1:26:04time or Hospital time so if you don't
  2024. 1:26:09know what 4M is or sorry what 4M
2025. 1:26:12converts to just type the AM and PM and
2026. 1:26:15hit enter and it will convert it for you
2027. 1:26:18if you already know military time great
2028. 1:26:20just you can input it directly in but if
  2029. 1:26:22you don't know just put 8:30 p.m. and if
2030. 1:26:25you click away it will automatically
2031. 1:26:27convert it for you so military time is
2032. 1:26:31critical then you will select your name
2033. 1:26:34as the individual who's providing it and
2034. 1:26:38then you come down to this calendar
  2035. 1:26:40where you'll
2036. 1:26:42identify when you are working this isn't
  2037. 1:26:45updated for 2024 yet so you know I'll
2038. 1:26:48just pick a random date back in December
2039. 1:26:50and then I'm going to go up to the top
  2040. 1:26:52and hit create
  2041. 1:26:55schedule when I do that I'll get a
2042. 1:26:58message if it was successful or not if
2043. 1:27:01not it will tell me why a few things it
  2044. 1:27:04could say there's something else already
2045. 1:27:06at that time remember we can't do two
2046. 1:27:09things at once unless one is Hemer basic
2047. 1:27:11so it'll say something else is already
2048. 1:27:13happening or it might say you're at your
2049. 1:27:16monthly limit or a daily limit or your
2050. 1:27:19annual limit and then you can go back
  2051. 1:27:21and just as
2052. 1:27:24needed now once I do that if I go down
  2053. 1:27:27to the very bottom I will notice there's
2054. 1:27:31that shift I just made right here at the
  2055. 1:27:34bottom Friday December 29th there's my
  2056. 1:27:38rest bit from 4: to 8:30 p.m. and there
2057. 1:27:42it is and that is step one okay let's do
  2058. 1:27:47it
2059. 1:27:48again repetition will bring the power
2060. 1:27:51the the knowledge so again let's now use
  2061. 1:27:54a different example I'm a parent I clean
2062. 1:27:57the house every day for about an hour I
2063. 1:28:01know I do that so how would I document
2064. 1:28:03that well I'm going to go to create
  2065. 1:28:05schedule and custom pattern that's how I
  2066. 1:28:08always will
2067. 1:28:10start now for my shift well is it
2068. 1:28:14Homemaker basic Homemaker enhanced well
2069. 1:28:17I'm just doing this one so I'll select
  2070. 1:28:19Homemaker
  2071. 1:28:20basic always Aid
2072. 1:28:22for service again I'm going to clarify
2073. 1:28:25if I live with the client or don't and
  2074. 1:28:31if I'm a parent so for instance there
2075. 1:28:34are three types of Homemaker basic there
2076. 1:28:37is a non livein Homemaker basic for
2077. 1:28:39people who do not live with their client
2078. 1:28:42there is a CES parent Homemaker basic
2079. 1:28:46well this is for CES parents there's
  2080. 1:28:50also a homemaker a regular Homemaker
2081. 1:28:52basic this would be for an SLS parent or
2082. 1:28:57for a sibling who lives in the home so
  2083. 1:29:00again you'll clarify do I live with them
2084. 1:29:02or not and am I a parent or not okay for
  2085. 1:29:05this example let's say I'm a parent so
2086. 1:29:08I'll select CES parent Homemaker basic
2087. 1:29:12my start time let's say I do this every
  2088. 1:29:14morning from 7 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. I know
2089. 1:29:19that I always do an hour of cleaning
  2090. 1:29:20every morning then I'll select my
2091. 1:29:25name and now I go down and I would
  2092. 1:29:28select you
2093. 1:29:30know I can select any day that I want
2094. 1:29:35okay so the nice thing is you can
2095. 1:29:38schedule in bulk so if you do the same
2096. 1:29:40thing every day the same routine go in
2097. 1:29:42and schedule it all out at once it'll
2098. 1:29:44save you a ton of time from having to
  2099. 1:29:47schedule each visit
  2100. 1:29:49individually so I know a lot of people
2101. 1:29:51who will schedule like a month out they
2102. 1:29:54kind of know when they're going to work
2103. 1:29:55so they'll schedule that month out again
2104. 1:29:57in step two when we document we'll
2105. 1:29:59clarify the specific time that we
2106. 1:30:02started and that we stopped and then
2107. 1:30:04I'll come up and I'll hit create
2108. 1:30:06schedule okay how about one more time
  2109. 1:30:10little faster so again let's say I'm
2110. 1:30:14going to do Community Connector create
  2111. 1:30:16schedule custom pattern I would Select
  2112. 1:30:19Community Connector a
2113. 1:30:23clarify do I live with them or not or if
2114. 1:30:25I'm a parent my start time remember
2115. 1:30:28military time use the am and PMs they
2116. 1:30:31will help a ton select your name come
  2117. 1:30:35down to the
  2118. 1:30:37calendar click the dates that you're
2119. 1:30:39working and click create schedule and it
2120. 1:30:41will tell you success so once you've
2121. 1:30:44done it a few times you should be able
  2122. 1:30:46to create a schedule
  2123. 1:30:49in a a minute under a minute but but
2124. 1:30:52right about there if it's taking you
2125. 1:30:53longer we have some helpful YouTube
  2126. 1:30:56videos we have step-by-step guides that
2127. 1:30:58are all going to be in your welcome
2128. 1:30:59email so check out those videos those
  2129. 1:31:02tutorials they're excellent resources um
2130. 1:31:05because you should be able to schedule
  2131. 1:31:07very
2132. 1:31:08quickly okay let's move on to step
2133. 1:31:12number two we're now going to document
2134. 1:31:15what we actually did so we can get paid
2135. 1:31:18okay and again if you live with them you
2136. 1:31:22will document on the computer if you do
2137. 1:31:24not live with them you will use your
2138. 1:31:27smartphone we'll show you how to do that
2139. 1:31:29in just a second I'm first going to show
2140. 1:31:32you how you document if you live in the
  2141. 1:31:34same household as
2142. 1:31:36them what you do is you'll scroll down
2143. 1:31:39all your list and find the visit that
  2144. 1:31:41you're wanting to
  2145. 1:31:43document let's say I'm going to go down
2146. 1:31:46here at the bottom and I'm going to
2147. 1:31:47document this visit that happened back
  2148. 1:31:50on December 30th
2149. 1:31:53we'll do this rest bit one
2150. 1:31:55first you'll notice over here at the
  2151. 1:31:57right it says
2152. 1:31:58planned and next to that there's this
  2153. 1:32:01word
2154. 1:32:02echart this is the golden ticket if you
2155. 1:32:06can remember to click this word e chart
  2156. 1:32:09some popups will appear that you'll
2157. 1:32:11complete and you're done so this is the
2158. 1:32:13most important part remember to click e
  2159. 1:32:16chart when you click e
  2160. 1:32:20chart a box will will appear and you'll
2161. 1:32:23first confirm the time that you started
2162. 1:32:25working if you need to change that
2163. 1:32:28that's a okay just and put that
2164. 1:32:31time again military time so use PM if
  2165. 1:32:34you don't know so it'll convert it for
  2166. 1:32:36you and then you'll confirm you're also
2167. 1:32:38a livein caregiver okay because again
2168. 1:32:41only livein caregivers or people who
2169. 1:32:43live in the home can document on the
  2170. 1:32:46website and then you'll
2171. 1:32:49confirm when you do that you'll notice
2172. 1:32:51right right here at the top here's our
2173. 1:32:53incident reporting so if there was an
2174. 1:32:55incident you can report that incident
2175. 1:32:58otherwise leave that blank and then
2176. 1:33:00you'll come down to these check boxes
2177. 1:33:02and you'll check what you did during
2178. 1:33:04that visit so you'll say hey I did some
2179. 1:33:07general supervision and we played some
2180. 1:33:10games you then scroll down to the bottom
2181. 1:33:13where it says signature and you click
2182. 1:33:16that box to sign off that what you're
2183. 1:33:18doing is accurate and you'll hit submit
2184. 1:33:21to Q QA if you hit save it will save it
2185. 1:33:25for you so you can finish it later if
2186. 1:33:28you hit submit to QA it will send it to
2187. 1:33:31us so you can get paid and the last
2188. 1:33:34thing it will ask you to do is to put in
2189. 1:33:36your checkout time and hit
  2190. 1:33:40submit once you've done that everything
2191. 1:33:43will refresh you can go ahead and close
  2192. 1:33:46out of uh the popup that's
2193. 1:33:50appeared and when when you close out
2194. 1:33:52you'll notice that this visit at the
2195. 1:33:55bottom of my screen now says
2196. 1:33:58completed that's how you know you did it
2197. 1:34:02and then so everyone knows on Fridays
2198. 1:34:05typically we review and we'll mark this
2199. 1:34:07is approved so it'll change to approved
2200. 1:34:09and be in a dark green and then you'll
  2201. 1:34:11get paid for
  2202. 1:34:13it so that's it so let's do another
2203. 1:34:15example Homemaker basic again the key
2204. 1:34:19find the visit and click e to document
2205. 1:34:22when you actually worked and what you
2206. 1:34:24actually did so you'll confirm the time
  2207. 1:34:27you started and that you're a live-in
2208. 1:34:29caregiver when you do that the boxes
2209. 1:34:33will appear and you'll just check what
2210. 1:34:35you're going to do okay I cleaned the
2211. 1:34:37bedroom and I cleaned the toys please
2212. 1:34:41only check the boxes for what you
2213. 1:34:43actually did if you select all of them
2214. 1:34:47it's going to get rejected because it's
2215. 1:34:49highly unlikely you did every single
2216. 1:34:51activity in that visit so only check the
2217. 1:34:54boxes that you did and then again you'll
2218. 1:34:57sign it and come up to the top and hit
  2219. 1:35:01submit to
2220. 1:35:02QA confirm the time you finished and hit
2221. 1:35:07submit and that's it so again to
2222. 1:35:10document should only take about a minute
2223. 1:35:15again if it's taking longer go to your
2224. 1:35:17welcome email which will have that
2225. 1:35:18stepbystep tutorial it has helped
2226. 1:35:21YouTube videos and check those out to
2227. 1:35:24see hey why is this taking me so long
2228. 1:35:26because all you should be doing is just
2229. 1:35:27clicking echart filling out the prompts
2230. 1:35:30and submitting them now the last example
2231. 1:35:33we'll do here is for Community
2232. 1:35:36Connector again you click echart to open
2233. 1:35:39it up confirm the time you started and
2234. 1:35:43that you live in the home so you can do
  2235. 1:35:45it on the
2236. 1:35:46computer when you do that for Community
  2237. 1:35:49Connector there's something specific
2238. 1:35:51specific that you have to
2239. 1:35:53do which is in the today's note section
2240. 1:35:58you need to give us a one sentence
2241. 1:36:00summary of what where you went and what
2242. 1:36:03you did okay this is the only time you
  2243. 1:36:06need to inp put a note you don't need a
2244. 1:36:10note for the other services you're more
2245. 1:36:12than welcome to if you would like but
2246. 1:36:14the only time we require a note is if
2247. 1:36:18there's Community Connector and again
2248. 1:36:20does not need to be a novel but does
2249. 1:36:22need to give us some detail about where
2250. 1:36:25you went and what you did so went to the
2251. 1:36:27grocery store and worked on staying near
  2252. 1:36:30the cart purchasing
2253. 1:36:33items and um you know talking to the
  2254. 1:36:38store R something something where we
2255. 1:36:42know hey this is what you did and this
2256. 1:36:43is what you worked on and then the same
2257. 1:36:46thing you'll sign it at the bottom and
2258. 1:36:49you'll hit submit to QA confirm the time
2259. 1:36:52you're done and hit submit okay so that
2260. 1:36:56is how you will document if you live
2261. 1:36:58with them is go down and click e chart
2262. 1:37:03once you click e chart you fill out the
2263. 1:37:05popup box and again just like anything
2264. 1:37:08else this may seem totally foreign
2265. 1:37:11that's okay this is just a general
  2266. 1:37:13introduction you'll get into it and
2267. 1:37:16after you do it two or three times it'll
2268. 1:37:18soon become very simple and easy go to
2269. 1:37:21create schedule to identify when you
  2270. 1:37:24think you'll work you'll then hit echart
2271. 1:37:27to document when you actually worked and
2272. 1:37:30what you did and then it will say
2273. 1:37:33completed we will review it to Market is
2274. 1:37:36approved and then you get paid for it
2275. 1:37:39okay any questions on documenting for
2276. 1:37:42our livein caregivers before we show you
2277. 1:37:46how to use the mobile phone for people
2278. 1:37:48who do not live in the home all question
2279. 1:37:52yes um I already have the cam time
2280. 1:37:55downloaded on my phone because I go
  2281. 1:37:57through a different um home healthcare
2282. 1:37:59to get paid for my mom do I just go is
2283. 1:38:02that the same thing just add them add my
  2284. 1:38:04client in there yeah so you'll have a
2285. 1:38:06new log in so unfortunately you'll have
2286. 1:38:09to log out and log back in but then you
2287. 1:38:11can do it okay yeah good
  2288. 1:38:14question and
2289. 1:38:18then uh yes Tyler hi so um I guess two
2290. 1:38:23questions one of the questions I think
2291. 1:38:24you've already answered but for the
2292. 1:38:25respit care um for the parent and a
  2293. 1:38:29child I'm a living parent for my child
2294. 1:38:31that would not apply to me but I could
2295. 1:38:34have somebody else come in the home and
  2296. 1:38:35do that
2297. 1:38:36instead correct yep you cannot do respit
2298. 1:38:40but someone else could come in and do
2299. 1:38:42respit okay fantastic um and then as
2300. 1:38:46also so I can do this on a tablet the
2301. 1:38:48can time right would that be on the
2302. 1:38:52tablet and the phone or would it matter
  2303. 1:38:55yeah good question so it's it's really
2304. 1:38:57about the can Time website so you could
2305. 1:39:00do this on a tablet just go to the
2306. 1:39:03website uh and then you could do this on
  2307. 1:39:05a tablet as well it's a little trickier
2308. 1:39:07and harder to do this on the phone to go
2309. 1:39:09to the ctime website just because
  2310. 1:39:11everything gets really scrunched
2311. 1:39:13together it is possible but it's much
2312. 1:39:15easier just to do it on a tablet or on a
2313. 1:39:18computer okay and then S one more
2314. 1:39:20question too um for the parent CNA
2315. 1:39:24program um I know this is different kind
2316. 1:39:26of so I need to talk to somebody
2317. 1:39:28afterwards or something about that um
  2318. 1:39:31but um I guess basically would would I
2319. 1:39:35be doing this every day and then doing
  2320. 1:39:38the hours like 7 to 7:30 8 or 8:30 to
  2321. 1:39:429:30 or 7 to 9 or 7 to 10 and then
2322. 1:39:46flipping over to the CNA hours and doing
2323. 1:39:49that as well great question so the CNA
2324. 1:39:52is way easier than this um okay because
2325. 1:39:57yeah because we build all the schedules
2326. 1:40:00for you and you just go in and verify so
2327. 1:40:04it takes our CNAs a couple minutes a day
  2328. 1:40:07two minutes a day because it's all done
2329. 1:40:09all the work is done for you you just
2330. 1:40:12verify you did it for these waivers you
2331. 1:40:15have to do or the waivers you have to do
2332. 1:40:18this one or two minute extra work for
2333. 1:40:20each one to just say when did I work or
2334. 1:40:23when do I think I'll work and then what
  2335. 1:40:24I actually
2336. 1:40:26did okay and my um I guess my not
2337. 1:40:30supervisor what do you call her uh
  2338. 1:40:33coordinator yeah Courtney Courtney
2339. 1:40:35coordinator she can kind of help with
2340. 1:40:37that too if if need be like your like
2341. 1:40:40your service coordinator at your CCB
2342. 1:40:43yeah yeah so they can advise you kind of
2343. 1:40:45on like hey here are some good thing you
2344. 1:40:47know guidelines to follow about how much
2345. 1:40:48you should be doing each week but in
2346. 1:40:50terms ter of for the waiver Services
2347. 1:40:53when you do it you have control of what
2348. 1:40:55day and time you want to do
2349. 1:40:57it okay fantastic right that's it thank
2350. 1:41:01you I have a quick question for that as
2351. 1:41:04well how many um hours are you allotted
  2352. 1:41:07each
2353. 1:41:08week yeah great question so the service
2354. 1:41:11plan from your case manager will specify
2355. 1:41:15how much you're allotted each week um so
2356. 1:41:17you can always chat with them and say
2357. 1:41:19hey I need to use more and they can at
2358. 1:41:22any time do a revision to give you more
2359. 1:41:25or to give you less of something um so
2360. 1:41:27you can chat with them about
2361. 1:41:30that sorry go ahead applies to the CNA
2362. 1:41:32as well so for the CNA Services feel
2363. 1:41:36free to reach out to us but we do a
2364. 1:41:38video call and that's when we would
2365. 1:41:40confirm with you how many hours you'll
2366. 1:41:42be getting you don't need to go through
2367. 1:41:44your case manager for CNA just call us
2368. 1:41:48we'll do a video call to tell you how
2369. 1:41:50many hours you get and then you fill out
2370. 1:41:52some paperwork and you either will go
2371. 1:41:55get your license or if you already have
2372. 1:41:56it you can start getting paid yeah
2373. 1:41:59awesome thank you yeah no problem I have
2374. 1:42:02a question okay let me put one quick
2375. 1:42:05pause on questions and let me show you a
2376. 1:42:08few more things and then we'll come back
2377. 1:42:10to more questions during open
2378. 1:42:13Q&A so what I want to just show you real
2379. 1:42:16quick here is how you'll document your
2380. 1:42:18time if you do not live live with your
2381. 1:42:22client so if you do not live with them
2382. 1:42:25you will still do part one go on to our
2383. 1:42:28website schedule when you will work and
2384. 1:42:32then what you'll do is when you arrive
  2385. 1:42:34to work this is what you'll do you'll
2386. 1:42:36open your phone on the screen is what
2387. 1:42:39it'll look like you'll log in and all
  2388. 1:42:42the visits you've scheduled will appear
2389. 1:42:45okay this is why you need a schedule
2390. 1:42:48ahead of time so you'll schedule ahead
  2391. 1:42:50of time time you'll come here you'll um
2392. 1:42:53click on or tap on the visit that you're
2393. 1:42:56doing when you tap on it you'll notice
2394. 1:42:59there in the middle it says checkin so
2395. 1:43:01you'll tap that checkin box and it will
2396. 1:43:04ask you to confirm because once you do
  2397. 1:43:06that it timestamps and that's when
2398. 1:43:09you're in okay that's when you start so
  2399. 1:43:12then you'll put your phone away you'll
2400. 1:43:14do the work and then when you're done
2401. 1:43:17you wrap up you head back out to your
  2402. 1:43:19car you'll open the phone and you'll tap
2403. 1:43:21check out and when you tap it it again
2404. 1:43:24asks you to confirm because once you do
2405. 1:43:27it time stamps it you cannot edit that
2406. 1:43:30time and then it will say right here in
2407. 1:43:32the middle no tasks documented so if you
2408. 1:43:36tap that box it will pull up those same
2409. 1:43:39check boxes so you'll just tap on the
2410. 1:43:42check boxes that you did for that visit
2411. 1:43:46again remember do not select all of them
2412. 1:43:49because it will get rejected only select
2413. 1:43:51the one two three things that you
  2414. 1:43:53did then you'll sign
  2415. 1:43:57it you'll add a note if it's Community
  2416. 1:44:01Connector okay if it's Community
2417. 1:44:04Connector you need a one or two sentence
2418. 1:44:06note about where you went what you did
  2419. 1:44:08and then you'll hit
2420. 1:44:09submit and confirm when you do that it
2421. 1:44:13locks it so you're not able to edit it
2422. 1:44:15anymore and if you go back to your main
2423. 1:44:19screen it will look like this top one
2424. 1:44:21it'll go to green and say echart
  2425. 1:44:24submitted and that's how you know you're
2426. 1:44:26done so I'll walk through it one more
2427. 1:44:29time but the most important thing if
2428. 1:44:31you're using the mobile phone is to make
2429. 1:44:34sure you clock in and clock out okay you
2430. 1:44:36don't want to get in and be seven
2431. 1:44:38minutes late and be like oh man I forgot
2432. 1:44:40to clock in and then clock in right so
2433. 1:44:43make sure you have reminders or do
2434. 1:44:45whatever you need to clock in and clock
2435. 1:44:47out on time it's very important so let
2436. 1:44:50me show you how to do it one more time
2437. 1:44:52you'll arrive to the home pull out your
2438. 1:44:55phone and log in you'll then tap on the
2439. 1:44:58visit that you're there to do and when
2440. 1:45:00you do that you'll H tap in the middle
2441. 1:45:03check in and again it timestamps it put
2442. 1:45:07your phone away do the work and then
  2443. 1:45:09when you're done you'll open up your
  2444. 1:45:11phone tap
  2445. 1:45:14checkout you'll tap no task documented
2446. 1:45:17so that way you can tap on the few boxes
2447. 1:45:20of what you did when you were
2448. 1:45:22there you'll go back out and tap the
2449. 1:45:25clinician digital signature to sign and
  2450. 1:45:28approve it you'll add a note if it's
  2451. 1:45:31Community Connector and then you'll hit
2452. 1:45:34submit and once you do that you are done
2453. 1:45:38so again to get through both of these
2454. 1:45:40steps should only be taking one or two
2455. 1:45:43minutes okay in your welcome email you
  2456. 1:45:45have the step-by-step guides and YouTube
2457. 1:45:47videos look at those if you're having
2458. 1:45:49struggles or again give our office a
2459. 1:45:52call if you forget to clock in and clock
2460. 1:45:56out on the mobile phone call us that day
2461. 1:45:59or the next day so we can fix it for you
2462. 1:46:02so you can still get paid this is a
2463. 1:46:05state of Colorado requirement that if
2464. 1:46:07you do not live in the home you have to
2465. 1:46:10clock in and clock out okay if you don't
2466. 1:46:14you're not going to get paid and it's a
2467. 1:46:16silly reason not to get paid so if you
2468. 1:46:18forget call us the next day day so that
2469. 1:46:21way we can get that fixed and you can
2470. 1:46:23still get paid okay the state's getting
2471. 1:46:25really strict about it so please make
2472. 1:46:27sure you clock in and clock out okay
2473. 1:46:30parents one last thing for you you have
2474. 1:46:33a superpower which is you can schedule
2475. 1:46:36and document things that happened in the
2476. 1:46:38past okay so you can go in there and say
  2477. 1:46:42hey yesterday I did a homemaker shift
2478. 1:46:46schedule it and then document it for
2479. 1:46:49yesterday and you'll get paid for it
2480. 1:46:51okay but if you do not live in the home
2481. 1:46:54you cannot do that you have to schedule
2482. 1:46:57only in the future and then use your
2483. 1:47:00phone to clock in and to clock out if
2484. 1:47:03you want to get paid for it okay all
2485. 1:47:06right a few things before we wrap and
  2486. 1:47:08then we'll go to open Q&A one is
2487. 1:47:11regarding to our pay calendar we pay
2488. 1:47:13every other week this schedule on the
  2489. 1:47:15screen is
2490. 1:47:162023 so please ignore the dates for 202
2491. 1:47:20before but the principle is the same
2492. 1:47:23which is every other Friday is in green
2493. 1:47:26which means you get paid whatever you
2494. 1:47:29submit to us eight days prior in yellow
2495. 1:47:33the yellow highlighted dates is what
2496. 1:47:35gets included in payable the reason we
2497. 1:47:38need it eight days before is because on
2498. 1:47:42Friday after you submit you have up
2499. 1:47:44until midnight on Friday we review and
2500. 1:47:48approve everything and send it to the
2501. 1:47:50state to review they get that back to us
2502. 1:47:53on Monday they release the funding for
2503. 1:47:56it on Tuesday we take that funding and
2504. 1:47:59send it to your bank accounts and it
2505. 1:48:01takes a couple days for direct deposits
2506. 1:48:03to hit so whatever you submit by
2507. 1:48:06Thursday at midnight will get included
2508. 1:48:09in the next payroll so we always
2509. 1:48:11recommend parents document at least
2510. 1:48:14weekly by Thursday at midnight to make
2511. 1:48:16sure it hits if you forget that's okay
2512. 1:48:19just docu minute it just gets moved to
2513. 1:48:21the next pay cycle but if you do not
2514. 1:48:25live with your client you have to be
2515. 1:48:27documenting in real time so whatever you
2516. 1:48:30document by that Thursday at midnight
2517. 1:48:32will get paid to you the following
2518. 1:48:34Friday a few last reminders one make
2519. 1:48:38sure that you fill out your online
2520. 1:48:41paperwork get that into us we will start
2521. 1:48:44processing it and your background check

2523. 1:48:47that background check if you already
