- 0:00Hello all, welcome to Aank Systems
- 0:02YouTube channel. In this session, the
- 0:04intricate canopen protocol is explained
- 0:06in a straightforward manner. Ready to
- 0:08dive in? Can open is a communication
- 0:11protocol built on the canvas
- 0:13specifically designed for industrial
- 0:15applications such as motion control,
- 0:18robotics, medical devices, and
- 0:20automotive uses. This protocol
- 0:22facilitates interoperability between
- 0:24devices nodes and provides standardized
- 0:27methods for configuring devices both
- 0:29during and after
- 0:30installation. Structure of kenopen can
- 0:33be understood within the context of the
- 0:35seven layer OSI model where the canvas
- 0:37operates at the physical and data link
- 0:40layers. Understanding Ken Open requires
- 0:43knowledge of several key concepts
- 0:45including communication models,
- 0:47communication protocols, device states,
- 0:49object dictionaries, electronic data
- 0:52sheets, and device
- 0:54profiles. There are three main models
- 0:56for communication. The master or slave
- 0:59model where a master node requests data
- 1:01from slave
- 1:02[Music]
- 1:03nodes. The client or server model which
- 1:06facilitates data requests and
- 1:09responses. And the producer or consumer
- 1:12model where data is broadcasted from a
- 1:14producer to a
- 1:17consumer. Central to CAN opens
- 1:19functionality is the ability to encode
- 1:21communication within CAN frames using
- 1:24identifiers known as communication
- 1:25object identifiers.
- 1:27There are also seven service types used
- 1:29for controlling can open devices
- 1:31including network management
- 1:35NMT process data objects
- 1:39[Music]
- 1:40PDO and service data objects
- 1:46SDO. The object dictionary OD contains
- 1:49the parameters defining a CAN open
- 1:51node's behavior and is accessed via
- 1:53SDOS's.
- 1:56The SDO service allows for the reading
- 1:58and modification of OD
- 2:00entries while the PDIO service serves to
- 2:03transmit real-time data
- 2:06efficiently. The transmission methods
- 2:08differ significantly with SDOS's being
- 2:11more suitable for configuration tasks
- 2:13and PDOS's being preferred for
- 2:15operational data due to their minimal
- 2:17overhead.
