CAN NIHAT CHALLENGE KEONE? PATRICK TUOR TALKS OLYMPIA PREPARATION — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:05Yes, guys. Suki for BTS TV. Today I've
- 0:07got Patrick Shaw. Patrick, I had to get
- 0:11you on ASAP. Why? Because wow, we saw a
- 0:15big statement from Nihhat on the
- 0:17weekend. I fortunately wasn't there, but
- 0:20I'm very thankful to David who was
- 0:22sending me a lot of content. It was all
- 0:24over his socials.
- 0:26Patrick,
- 0:28first place to start. Wow, incredible.
- 0:31You must be a happy man.
- 0:35>> Um, yes. Um, I'm happy. Well, first of
- 0:37all, because
- 0:39um, we wanted to display progress. You
- 0:42know, what people don't realize,
- 0:44especially when I read comments online
- 0:47is how young Niad is, but really don't
- 0:51contextualize this youth. you know, how
- 0:54long does it take um no matter how
- 0:57talented you are to build a certain
- 0:59level of physique, completeness, you
- 1:01know, from head to toe, red to uh right
- 1:04to left. And what I saw on that stage
- 1:09was
- 1:11very close to what I, you know, I know
- 1:13he can be just in terms of how complete
- 1:15he is. There's no missing body parts
- 1:18anymore. There's no holes in his
- 1:20physique. And that to me was probably
- 1:23even more important than than winning.
- 1:25Obviously winning uh we need that
- 1:28qualification for the Olympia, but just
- 1:30to see him um in his back poses having
- 1:34that
- 1:36hamstring so wide, not having any gaps
- 1:40anymore and just the completeness to his
- 1:42physique uh was was very very special
- 1:45and that for me was the most important.
- 1:48You you mentioned about gaps in his
- 1:50physique. What gaps did you see from he
- 1:53was fourth place at Olympia last year to
- 1:56up until now? So what gaps are you
- 1:58referring to that you've made
- 2:00improvements in?
- 2:02>> Well, the the first um I think point uh
- 2:06that was a little bit missing at Olympia
- 2:09were his legs. His upper body compared
- 2:12to his legs and I mean front, side, and
- 2:15back. Um
- 2:17the the legs are still a little on the
- 2:19small side, especially in those back
- 2:21shots. And I posted um a comparison
- 2:24today. You could see there's still a big
- 2:27gap in between his legs. He had good
- 2:30hamstring separation. He always had
- 2:31that, but he was just not covering up
- 2:34enough space. And now he can pose with
- 2:36the legs a little more open, which gives
- 2:38his quads a little more flare and the
- 2:41and the ductors touch in the middle of
- 2:42the legs. So just the sheer size from
- 2:45the back of his legs has improved. And
- 2:48to be honest with you, in 8 months,
- 2:52such an improvement I've never seen in
- 2:54my life on anybody. I mean, just he he
- 2:56went to work and he took it seriously,
- 2:58but I never thought that it would
- 3:00possible in that short amount of time to
- 3:03really feel uh those legs so much. And
- 3:06then from the front, the legs always had
- 3:08a nice shape to him, but they were still
- 3:11a little straight uh compared to the
- 3:13upper body just because he's very wide
- 3:15up top and he needed a little more size
- 3:18to his quads. And now from the front,
- 3:19those quads are filled out. From the
- 3:22side, they're really big. And now from
- 3:24the back, I think aside from Keon,
- 3:27nobody in on the Olympia stage has that
- 3:30hamstring
- 3:32wise from the back. Nobody can match
- 3:35that.
- 3:36wrong. Is he 23 or 24?
- 3:39>> Um, he's still 23, I think.
- 3:41>> Oh my god, that's ridiculous.
- 3:44>> He's still 23 years old. And that's what
- 3:47he's looking like right now. It's just
- 3:50absolutely mindblowing. I mean, look,
- 3:53there was arguably there was going to be
- 3:54some pressure on him going into Portugal
- 3:57because he's such a big name. He is
- 3:59number four in the world and I think you
- 4:03know has so many messages the moment
- 4:05people saw him on that revolving stage
- 4:08just hitting a front relax it was like
- 4:11well there is that's that is just
- 4:13bodybuilding just a beautiful physique
- 4:16and then to remind yourself that he is
- 4:1823
- 4:20and my god the sky's is the limit for
- 4:22this kid.
- 4:24>> Yeah. Um I always knew um you know we
- 4:27started working when he was 19 before he
- 4:30even got his pro card and the structure
- 4:33has always been there. You know that's
- 4:34something you're born with. Um but I'm
- 4:38myself surprised
- 4:41how much his physique is complete right
- 4:44now. I never thought it would be
- 4:46possible to uh not only to have the
- 4:49structure and obviously the genetics to
- 4:51put on muscle but also NAT's
- 4:55work ethic and taking those criticisms
- 4:59really to heart in going to work and
- 5:02improving those areas. you know, we
- 5:03talked about that after the Olympia and
- 5:05also Tyler Manion obviously told us, you
- 5:09know, what he wanted to see different
- 5:10from him and at that age
- 5:14really taking that to heart and putting
- 5:16in the work to improve that in such a
- 5:19short time. U again, that's that's a
- 5:22testament of how developed mentally he
- 5:25is at this age and not only physically.
- 5:28So that's I'm I'm still, you know, in
- 5:31awe of when I when I saw him I've I've
- 5:34got checkups, but you know, when you get
- 5:36checkups uh check-ins through through
- 5:38the phone, I mean, I've been doing this
- 5:40for a long time, so I I kind of get an
- 5:43an idea of what's going on. But when I
- 5:45saw him in person and I was just I was
- 5:49blown away because again, I was trying
- 5:52to find something that I did not like at
- 5:54the physique. And you know, I may sound
- 5:58biased and probably I am, but I always
- 6:01I'm always very objective. There's just
- 6:03nothing wrong with the physique. You
- 6:06know, his back was criticized. He
- 6:08brought that up. The width, the density,
- 6:10just the amount of muscle that he
- 6:12carries on a 212 lb frame I've never
- 6:16seen before. I've never seen before. And
- 6:18I've coached some of the best 212
- 6:20athletes in history. I've worked with Ha
- 6:22when Hay Yamagishi when he got third
- 6:24place at Olympia and we won the Arno
- 6:26Classic. I've had the honor to work with
- 6:28Eduardo Korea. We got fourth at Olympia.
- 6:31Obviously, I worked with with Keon which
- 6:34to me is still um the best physique who
- 6:37I've ever walked on a two 200 pound 12
- 6:39stage. And so I've seen all those guys
- 6:43in person. Um, and now when I see
- 6:46Nihhat, I'm still blown away because of
- 6:49how complete he is. You know, he poses
- 6:52and then you're trying to find
- 6:54something. And I'm not talking
- 6:56obviously, you know, condition, muscle
- 6:57maturity, all of that. I get that and
- 7:00we're well aware of that and we're
- 7:02working on that. But just in every pose,
- 7:06there's nothing wrong. Every pose you
- 7:08do, every transition you do, that
- 7:10physique is just complete from head to
- 7:12toe. And that's, you know, what makes a
- 7:15champion. It's not be being the hardest,
- 7:18being the biggest, or being uh the
- 7:21fullest. It's it's about not having any
- 7:24anything that falls out from your
- 7:26physique. And he's just so complete
- 7:29everything.
- 7:30>> Nad hit the scales at checking at 211.
- 7:34What's your weigh
- 7:36>> day? On show day, he was 220 pounds.
- 7:40>> Okay.
- 7:41And I remember um David interviewed
- 7:44after the show and you mentioned that
- 7:47tactically
- 7:49this show you held back reserves because
- 7:52you did not want to go all out. You
- 7:54still got 12 weeks until Olympia.
- 7:57>> Yes.
- 7:57>> Just just break that down for me because
- 8:00if he was at 211 I mean what how much
- 8:04sharper could he be in the next two 12
- 8:07weeks? What improvements are you looking
- 8:08to see? So you do empty the gas when it
- 8:12comes to Las Vegas in 12 weeks time.
- 8:14>> Yeah. Well, you know, there's different
- 8:16ways by which you can make weight. You
- 8:20can diet into that weight or you can
- 8:23like we did for Portugal really empty um
- 8:27water-wise to make weight. So really
- 8:29dehydrate. Now what we did last year for
- 8:32Dubai which was about 12 to 13 weeks out
- 8:36at the same time we really dieted into
- 8:38that weight. That means we were at about
- 8:4197 98 maximum kgs before the weigh-in
- 8:46and all we had to do is eat a little
- 8:48less, drink a little less water and the
- 8:50weight came by itself. So that was
- 8:52absolutely no issue and the weigh-ins
- 8:54were in the evening. So that's the only
- 8:56difficulties but we had that weight. It
- 8:58was there we were like two pounds away.
- 9:01Now this time we have been sitting at
- 9:03around 100 kgs which is 220 pounds for
- 9:07the past five weeks basically. You know
- 9:10we reached that that level of condition
- 9:12of body composition and I just held him
- 9:15there. I just made sure we didn't make
- 9:17things any harder because I knew that
- 9:19body composition was good enough to to
- 9:21have a good showing but I knew we would
- 9:24still eat plenty of food. He could still
- 9:26train hard. So he really never never
- 9:28suffered, you know, to get to that body
- 9:30composition. So we held him there and
- 9:33all we did we we basically dehydrated
- 9:36uh into the weigh-in which this time and
- 9:38that's why we especially we chose
- 9:40Portugal the show was the weigh-ins were
- 9:42early in the morning you know when you
- 9:45can get up and then basically go to the
- 9:47weigh-in and weigh yourself there's no
- 9:49issue but no drinking eating. So we woke
- 9:52up at exactly 21200
- 9:55and the day before we were about 220 at
- 9:59219 220 but we dehydrated into that.
- 10:03That means for the Olympia obviously
- 10:04we're not going to do that. Now we still
- 10:06have 12 weeks where we can keep dieting
- 10:09into that weight. That means he's going
- 10:11to still lose about I would say three to
- 10:14four pounds of just body fat and his
- 10:18body composition will improve. And then
- 10:20for weigh-ins, it's it's much easier. We
- 10:22obviously don't have it. It it's pretty
- 10:24dramatic what we have to do in terms of
- 10:26you know making that weight. But it
- 10:29doesn't cost us any substance and
- 10:32doesn't cost us any energy. It's just a
- 10:34little dehydration during the night and
- 10:37then next day immediately after weigh in
- 10:39you rehydrate and he was perfectly fine.
- 10:41But it's just a different approach and
- 10:43last year I dieted into the Dubai Pro.
- 10:45This year we chose this approach in
- 10:48order for us to be able to just have,
- 10:50you know, the much better energy and
- 10:52training these weeks and now we're
- 10:55sitting again about 222 pounds. We're
- 10:58going to keep it there for a few weeks
- 11:00and then we're going to bring it
- 11:01steadily down in one week before before
- 11:04the Olympia. I'd like to have him in
- 11:05about 215 216 maybe and that's easy to
- 11:08make it into the 212.
- 11:11that physique at 220 and that physique
- 11:13at 215 is going to look way different,
- 11:16much more conditioned. So that's that's
- 11:19the plan. We learned our lesson last
- 11:20year trying to force it into the the the
- 11:25Dubai Pro by dieting into it. This year
- 11:28we kept it cool. We forced it just the
- 11:30last 24 hours and now we have a a round
- 11:34fresh physique. 12 weeks out condition
- 11:36is absolutely perfect. Patrick, you
- 11:39mentioned a moment ago like you've
- 11:41worked with some of the best ever 212
- 11:46athletes, not just 212, but also across
- 11:48the board.
- 11:49>> But Nihhat, when we talk about overall
- 11:53and the potential of a young kid, where
- 11:56does he rank of all the people that you
- 12:00worked with? I mean, I we exchanged
- 12:02messages over the weekend, and I won't
- 12:04use the words you you you've said in
- 12:06case they were said privately, but where
- 12:08does he rank with those guys that you've
- 12:12you've worked with in the past?
- 12:15Well, as as in in terms of just how
- 12:18complete his physique is, how you know
- 12:21balanced his physique is, I would say
- 12:24the only person I've had the the honor
- 12:26to work with that is in that same range
- 12:29is Keon. just just because of his
- 12:32structure, because of his bubbliness,
- 12:35because of his balance, you know, Keon's
- 12:38balance is is absurd, you know,
- 12:40especially, you know, his front double
- 12:42bicep pose is is probably worth more
- 12:45than five poses of any other athlete,
- 12:47but just the the balance structure. I
- 12:51would say Keon is probably the only
- 12:52athlete who uh who is, you know, up
- 12:55there or Keon is up there with with um
- 12:58um Niat is up there with Keon most
- 13:01definitely. But the the thing is with
- 13:04with Niad, what amazes me is you see him
- 13:08and I know you probably have friends
- 13:10there and you could talk to and they
- 13:12could just testify to it. When you see
- 13:14him in person, he looks 15 pounds
- 13:18heavier than what he is. He stand. We
- 13:21did some shots, some poses with open
- 13:24bodybuilders and he didn't look any
- 13:27smaller just because the way he's put
- 13:29together, just because of his
- 13:30bubbliness, you know, and and that in
- 13:33the 212 because he is the widest 212,
- 13:36you know, the top guys. He has more
- 13:38width to him. He has the balance to him
- 13:40and now he has the muscle to him because
- 13:42when you see him in person only there
- 13:44you appreciate how big he really is you
- 13:47know and so he is balanced. He is he has
- 13:50the size. The only thing we need to
- 13:52improve now obviously is just that
- 13:54detail and condition but with another 10
- 13:57weeks to go and now we also can
- 14:00sacrifice a little bit you know in order
- 14:03to to make that weight. the other years,
- 14:05even last year, he was still a little, I
- 14:08would say, two-dimensional, especially
- 14:09on the side shots. You you see he could
- 14:12still hold a little more roundness and
- 14:15he still does even at this moment. But
- 14:17if we go further, I think he's going to
- 14:20just become too heavy and we kept it
- 14:22really low with the weight.
- 14:24>> Patrick, I've got to talk about Olympia
- 14:26now because with any division, there's
- 14:29always excitement, especially when
- 14:31there's a story line. For example, men's
- 14:34physique, it's Chiron going up against
- 14:37Ryan Terry because I probably saw at
- 14:39Pittsburgh. Then it's Andrew Jacked
- 14:42going up against Derek and and Samson
- 14:45and so on and so on for all the other
- 14:46divisions. for 212.
- 14:50This very much feels like, you know,
- 14:53there's a lot of excitement and people
- 14:55do believe that Nihat is the future of
- 14:59212 because of his age and because of
- 15:02the rate of improvement we've already
- 15:05seen for one Olympia to now.
- 15:08I guess my question for yourself because
- 15:10you've worked with Keon as well. Where
- 15:13do you see maybe Nihhat could could beat
- 15:18Keon in some areas or if that's not the
- 15:21case now is actually going to be in the
- 15:24future.
- 15:26>> I don't know if if I can say he can beat
- 15:29Keon in some areas. What I can say
- 15:32though and I feel confident in doing
- 15:33that is he can match Keon in most areas.
- 15:38Um, I think he beats him in in just
- 15:42width. He's just a little taller, a
- 15:44little wider, so he takes up more space
- 15:47than Keon on stage. Um, so I think Nihad
- 15:52is going to be just the best matchup for
- 15:57Keon on stage. Lucas Garcia, impressive
- 16:01bodybuilder, great conditioning.
- 16:04He is a little more compact. He doesn't
- 16:07have that same flow as Keon and Neon
- 16:10does. Sean Clarita,
- 16:13I mean, what do I need to say about
- 16:14Sean? Crazy crazy density,
- 16:18>> but again, he's a little shorter. Um,
- 16:22obviously, he doesn't have the same
- 16:24structure. He has some muscle parts like
- 16:27in some some areas like his his chest,
- 16:30for example, or his side shots. They
- 16:32don't they're not so bubbly. They're not
- 16:35so round. They don't take up so much
- 16:36space as Keon and Niha do for example.
- 16:40So where obviously he he is he has an
- 16:43advantage is in his condition, his
- 16:45hardness, his maturity which Sean has
- 16:48crazy crazy condition and maturity and
- 16:51also and also Lucas. But I feel what we
- 16:54saw from Lucas for example last year
- 16:56which was a crazy good package. I don't
- 17:00see him being able to improve on that
- 17:02because the condition can be any better.
- 17:05The fullness can be any better and the
- 17:07structure is what it is. So, and I'm
- 17:11talking as a bodybuilding fan now more
- 17:12than, you know, Neat's coach. I think
- 17:14that's what we're going to see and
- 17:15that's going to be extremely competitive
- 17:18from Shawn. I also expect that package.
- 17:21I I expect that same look from last year
- 17:23if he can match that. That was perfect
- 17:26for him. Probably one of his best. And
- 17:28as far as as Keon goes, Keon was a
- 17:33little bit on a heavy side last year.
- 17:35You know, I I thought we needed to
- 17:37really not give away anything because
- 17:40then we had the show in Prague for, you
- 17:42know, going into open. So, I probably
- 17:44made the mistake to keeping you a little
- 17:46too heavy because I didn't want to
- 17:48sacrifice anything with mind the open
- 17:51show. But again, that being said, what
- 17:53he can do is probably come in a little
- 17:55harder,
- 17:57which is just going to make him also
- 18:00slightly smaller and take up a little
- 18:02more uh less space on stage. And yet
- 18:06this al out of those three I have the
- 18:08impression that is going to be probably
- 18:12the only one bringing something that we
- 18:14haven't seen before because what we saw
- 18:16in Portugal just in terms of size of
- 18:19bubbliness of completeness we haven't
- 18:21seen on him. He's just much more
- 18:23complete and with that look and better
- 18:27condition on the Olympia um my feeling
- 18:31is he's going to be the only one who
- 18:33adds that 5 10% to what was missing last
- 18:36year and then we see where the cards
- 18:39fall. So my dream as a coach now
- 18:43speaking, I would like to see that last
- 18:45call out and having the honor to stand
- 18:47next to Keon, just Keon and Nihhat
- 18:50because those two are aesthetic
- 18:53completeness and then Lucas and and Sean
- 18:56Clarita are more, you know, the more
- 18:59compact, the shorter guys. They have a
- 19:02different look to them. Okay. So, as a
- 19:04bodybuilding fan, I would like to see
- 19:07Nihad and and um Keon compared in the
- 19:10last call out and then see where the
- 19:13chips fall.
- 19:14>> Patrick, how many years did you work
- 19:16with Keon?
- 19:18>> Uh four years.
- 19:19>> Four years. So, isn't that also a huge
- 19:22strength that NIAT has the fact that
- 19:26you've obviously worked with K for four
- 19:28years. you saw and you worked in
- 19:30partnership a very successful
- 19:32partnership that brought three 212
- 19:34Olympia titles. So with that in mind, is
- 19:38that also a huge strength? the fact that
- 19:41you are working with someone that some
- 19:43people say and believe is the next in
- 19:46line to become the 212 Olympic champion
- 19:49with your knowledge and and
- 19:51understanding of how Keon's physique
- 19:53works and maybe his structural strengths
- 19:57and maybe any imbalances that you see
- 19:59that can only benefit Nihhat when you
- 20:02prepare him for that potential final
- 20:05call out which in a dream world like
- 20:07said is Knee Hat and Keon on center
- 20:10stage, spit center.
- 20:12>> Yeah. Um I don't think it does. I don't
- 20:15really think it does make give you an
- 20:19advantage because I will tell you why.
- 20:22Because a mistake that you cannot make
- 20:25as a coach is trying to emulate or
- 20:28trying to
- 20:30make decision based on somebody else
- 20:32strength or weaknesses. You have to
- 20:35focus on what you have in front of you
- 20:38and really exploit what NIAT is all
- 20:40about. In this case, I'm not trying to
- 20:43set up a game plan because I have the
- 20:45impression or because I think somebody
- 20:48else has certain things, certain
- 20:49weaknesses or certain strengths. I'm
- 20:52really only focusing on what we have to
- 20:54do for Nia to look his best. You know,
- 20:57we cannot control what other people do.
- 20:59and and if you try to change the way you
- 21:04perceive
- 21:05what you have to do in prep in function
- 21:07of somebody else that's dangerous. So
- 21:10even though I I know or I think I know
- 21:13what Keon can and cannot do that is not
- 21:16going to influence you know what we are
- 21:18going to do because I have a completely
- 21:21different physique on hand that responds
- 21:23completely different to to training to
- 21:26nutrition and to everything. So, I need
- 21:28to keep my mind there and just really
- 21:31focus on bringing him to have his best
- 21:34look and not try to, you know, strate
- 21:37strategize and and and think what the
- 21:40other guy is going to do. But but you
- 21:42really believe that it could come down
- 21:44to Nihhat and Keon when it comes to that
- 21:48final two because like you already
- 21:50mentioned you feel that you know what
- 21:52Shan Braw was at his peak maybe Luke is
- 21:56has already maxed out but with Nihad
- 21:58being five or 10% better do you believe
- 22:01it's going to come down to these two?
- 22:04>> Yes. Yes. I I truly believe that and and
- 22:06I say that being very objective because
- 22:09I remember with with Keon our first
- 22:11Olympia, he got sixth place.
- 22:14>> Okay. Then he really improved for 2023
- 22:18when he won his first Olympia. And I
- 22:20have very well in mind what Keon looked
- 22:22like for his first Olympia win with with
- 22:25Clarita where it was really really
- 22:27close.
- 22:28And I see what Niha is now at for this
- 22:32Olympia. And the level of muscularity,
- 22:36the level of completeness
- 22:38uh of just muscle density that Miat has
- 22:41at this moment is definitely ahead of
- 22:45what Keon was when he won his first
- 22:47Olympia. Keon at that Olympia was 199b,
- 22:52you know, 200 lb. Um, and obviously then
- 22:56he really really improved for for the
- 22:58next year. It was still, you know, in
- 23:00that 200 pound
- 23:03range, but I remember that physique very
- 23:05well. Incredible physique. But when I
- 23:08see Nihad now, he just looks like a open
- 23:12bodybuilder compared to that 2023,
- 23:15you know, Keon first Olympia.
- 23:18Clarito has always been there. Clarita's
- 23:20always, you know, we know what he is.
- 23:22And if if a Keon can win and challenge a
- 23:27super muscular Clarita in 2023 and win
- 23:30the title, which he deservedly did, and
- 23:33I see Niha now,
- 23:35I think he can, you know, he can have
- 23:38that same call out that Sean Clarita and
- 23:41Keon did back in 2023. Remember there
- 23:43was that last twoman call out?
- 23:46>> And I see the same thing happening this
- 23:49year. I just because those two are just
- 23:52a step ahead of everybody else in terms
- 23:54of just flow, structure, and the beauty
- 23:57that they bring to bodybuilding.
- 23:59Obviously, that's, you know, going to be
- 24:01up to the judges. They want to have a
- 24:02four or three. I just hope we get that
- 24:06look next to to Kon.
- 24:09>> Look, I I know BBO fans, especially on
- 24:11social media, are excited about this
- 24:13matchup. Uh and of course not taking
- 24:15away anything from Sha and the rest of
- 24:16the field but there is consensus whereas
- 24:20we are looking at potentially getting
- 24:22that shot of seeing Nihhat and Kon next
- 24:24to each other but also with social media
- 24:26I'm sure I know you see you see see
- 24:28these comments a lot of people believe
- 24:30as well and they say it on socials that
- 24:34they don't see they see Nihat winning
- 24:37the 212 Olympia one day but it will be a
- 24:41day when Keon is no longer
- 24:44competing with a 212.
- 24:46Is is that something you agree with or
- 24:48do you believe that if it's not this
- 24:50year or maybe next year that Nihad can
- 24:54become a Mr. Olympia 212 champion and
- 24:56that's by beating the reign champion
- 24:59rather than waiting for him to move on?
- 25:03>> Well, you know, let me start by
- 25:05obviously saying that I am very very
- 25:08well aware of how great Keon is in that
- 25:12class. you know, don't don't get me
- 25:14wrong. I'm not I'm not stupid. Um, and
- 25:18I've been a part of that for four years,
- 25:19so I know very well how great as a as a
- 25:23you know, shorter bodybuilder he is.
- 25:26And that deserves all the respect. And
- 25:28I'm not going to try to disrespect that
- 25:30because again, I'm objective. But I also
- 25:35at the same time and at the same level
- 25:37see a nihad that
- 25:41when everything falls into place, when
- 25:45the condition when
- 25:48this presentation when everything is
- 25:51where it needs to be, I truly believe he
- 25:54has the strength to challenge Keon at
- 25:58his best simply because how good he is.
- 26:00And that's nothing to take away from
- 26:03Keon. That's simply acknowledging how
- 26:06great that kid is. So, is it going to
- 26:10happen? I don't know. Obviously, I do
- 26:12hope so. But I truly believe as somebody
- 26:15who's been in bodybuilding for 35 years,
- 26:18and coaching athletes for over 30 years,
- 26:21that that kid has it in his hands to
- 26:26beat anybody on that stage. when it's
- 26:29going to happen. I don't have a crystal
- 26:31ball, but I know he has he has the goods
- 26:34to actually do it. Yes,
- 26:37>> there's a I have the the podcast with
- 26:40with Fouad and we talk about Nihad quite
- 26:42a lot. There is also a thought process
- 26:45that with how young Nihhat is and how
- 26:49much he's improving, eventually we're
- 26:52going to have to see Nihhat in the open
- 26:55and that's in the future. I'm not but I
- 26:58guess in your you don't have a crystal
- 27:01ball but you probably could see the
- 27:03pathway for Nihhat
- 27:07how long do you see him being in the 212
- 27:10before eventually you you guys are
- 27:13fighting just to stay under that limit
- 27:16and the reason I'm saying that is the
- 27:19improvements from Nihad from the last
- 27:21Olympia to now is absolutely massive and
- 27:25if we see that every here going forward
- 27:28with how he's strugg
- 27:32mentioned about the hard work, the work
- 27:34ethic he has. Surely it's not that long
- 27:37until we might have to see him in the
- 27:39open.
- 27:41>> Um, you know, the same thing was said
- 27:43about Keon. you know when somebody is
- 27:47winning 212 obviously you have to be
- 27:50such a dominant champion that you have
- 27:53to give the impression also to be able
- 27:55to compete in the open class. So I get
- 27:57that the same thing was always said for
- 27:59Chris Bumstead you know you should go
- 28:01into the open and compete in the open.
- 28:04Now what people have to realize is we
- 28:07are really going at this I would you
- 28:10know permit me to say the word smart
- 28:13way. Um
- 28:16Nihad needs to mature. Keon is Nihhat is
- 28:20adding muscle size muscle density every
- 28:23year basically every month. It seems
- 28:25like even one contest prep. So it would
- 28:30be foolish to start thinking about going
- 28:32into the open when he's still growing
- 28:35even with the limitations that we're
- 28:36giving ourselves. You know, we're not
- 28:38pushing for weight in the offseason.
- 28:40We're not pushing for gains that don't
- 28:43come naturally or easier for him. And
- 28:47once he acquires a certain muscle
- 28:49maturity, certain hardness and we see
- 28:52there's no further
- 28:54it's it's almost impossible for us to go
- 28:56any further in terms of of really
- 28:59detailing condition and we are at the
- 29:01limit of those 211. Maybe we have to do
- 29:05suffer too much to get into or maybe
- 29:07sacrifice something then I would
- 29:09probably consider
- 29:11going into the open if that day ever
- 29:14comes. But at the moment, we're really
- 29:17not pushing things hard to make that
- 29:19weight. Uh even now, yes, you know,
- 29:23those last 24 hours were a little bit,
- 29:25you know, hard, but we can diet next 10
- 29:2912 weeks and we will be around 215
- 29:31pounds and it's not very difficult to to
- 29:35be in the 212. So, and we still have to
- 29:38improve the condition. He still has to
- 29:39improve the muscle maturity. So, as long
- 29:41as I see improvements overall in his
- 29:43physique and we still have to acquire
- 29:45more maturity, I'm not going to be
- 29:47stupid and try to put on even more size
- 29:50on him, which is going to take even more
- 29:52time to, you know, to dial in and and to
- 29:54make mature because even in the open,
- 29:57you need the same level of condition
- 29:58there, too. So, let's do things, you
- 30:01know, step by steps. Let's be really
- 30:04maxed out and with the hardest condition
- 30:08possible in the 212. And then if one day
- 30:10it happens that we really are going to
- 30:13sacrifice and it makes our work very
- 30:16very hard to to do that class then why
- 30:20not have that discussion but right now
- 30:21there's still so much improvements he
- 30:23can have within the 212 class that I
- 30:27don't even want to go there with my mind
- 30:29or with his mind let's focus on the task
- 30:31ahead the 212 there's still a lot of
- 30:34things we can do better and we can
- 30:36improve there's still an amazing
- 30:38probably the best 212 Olympia champion
- 30:41of all time in that class we want to be
- 30:44compared to. So, let's, you know, let's
- 30:47not take the steps too far away from us
- 30:49and and stay in the moment and focus on
- 30:51this.
- 30:52>> Well, let's stay in the moment. Let's
- 30:53bring it back before we just wrap it up.
- 30:55Olympia 12 weeks time. You know what you
- 31:00and Neiat have planned to bring
- 31:02something very special that could
- 31:05challenge Keon, manage to get into that
- 31:07final call out where, like I said, dream
- 31:09scenario, Keon and Nihhat are standing
- 31:13side by side.
- 31:15Boy fans are obviously excited for this.
- 31:18Give me your prediction of what you
- 31:21believe Ni hat is going to bring to the
- 31:25Olympia stage that is just going to wow
- 31:28Bollywood fans and just make up sit up
- 31:31straight lean forward jaws drop. You
- 31:35know that you you've had those moments
- 31:37before with the guys you've worked with
- 31:38in the past. Give me a prediction of
- 31:41what Nihhat's going to do to make us do
- 31:43the same thing that we've done so many
- 31:45times with your clients.
- 31:48We're going to basically what you're
- 31:51going to see is that bubbly, more
- 31:54muscular look that we just had in
- 31:56Portugal
- 31:57with that level of fullness cuz that's
- 31:59something that's very easy to achieve
- 32:01with him, but with a way better
- 32:05condition. There's going to be much more
- 32:07detail through the glutes and hams uh
- 32:10from the front. His pecs are going to be
- 32:12strided.
- 32:15Now, they were strided from the middle
- 32:16down. They're going to be strided from
- 32:18the top up. You're going to see that
- 32:19strided tricep on that side tricep pose.
- 32:22You're going to see the midsection even
- 32:23tighter. Even in the front shots, you're
- 32:25going to see that separation more. So,
- 32:27just imagine that look sharpened. Just,
- 32:31you know, when you use a filter on
- 32:32Instagram, that's what you're going to
- 32:33see. That little more sharpness to that
- 32:36physique with the same bubbliness. And
- 32:38we're going to basically be be around
- 32:40almost the same weight. Maybe I would
- 32:43because we were 220 on stage because
- 32:45afterward I really brought him back to,
- 32:48you know, I wanted him to look like an
- 32:49open guy in Portugal next to the other
- 32:52212 and I and I think we were pretty
- 32:54close to doing that. And um we're just
- 32:57going to look that just deeper, harder
- 32:59separation with that added size that he
- 33:02has been able to do. So, it's going to
- 33:05be something
- 33:06I think it's it's like I say it's like a
- 33:10mix between Keon and Flex Lewis. He has
- 33:12attributes of both, you know. So, he's
- 33:15going to be muscular and he's that frame
- 33:18is just going to be wider than anybody
- 33:20and it's you take that Portugal look,
- 33:22you sharpen it up, and that's what
- 33:24you're going to see on that Olympian
- 33:25stage.
- 33:26>> And what we hope to see is that final
- 33:29call out between him and Keon. So we go
- 33:32just sit back and just enjoy that
- 33:33moment.
- 33:34>> I I've been speaking it into existence
- 33:37and I text him every day. He's like
- 33:39final call out. Two men call out. That's
- 33:42I want to speak it into existence
- 33:43because I'd love to see those are
- 33:45probably my two favorite physiques in
- 33:47bodybuilding at the moment. Him and
- 33:49Keon. So I would love to see him next to
- 33:52each other because I feel like for the
- 33:53bodybuilding fans, that's the beauty.
- 33:56Those are beautiful physique. Those are,
- 33:58you know, nobody can say they don't like
- 34:00them.
- 34:02Maybe there are, you know, other
- 34:04bodybuilders that have certain
- 34:06attributes to them, but when you look at
- 34:07the whole package, I think Keon
- 34:10especially has proven that. And nowad
- 34:12they exemplify what bodybuilding is all
- 34:14about. And I hope to see it.
- 34:17>> I hope to see it. Everybody hopes to see
- 34:19it because if you do get the chance to
- 34:21see that on on Friday and Friday night
- 34:23then that's taking nothing away from a
- 34:26legend that is Sean Clarita. But I guess
- 34:28there is this thought process that
- 34:30Nihhat is the next in line to challenge
- 34:34the gray Keon. And if we do get an
- 34:36opportunity to see that, that'll be
- 34:38absolutely box office. And the roof will
- 34:41probably be a liftoff if we just have
- 34:43that moment where Steve or Tyler just
- 34:45call out Keon and and Birmingham Center
- 34:50>> and then yes, cameras flashing
- 34:52everything. It' be be magical.
- 34:54>> I'd love to I'd love to hear you say
- 34:56that. and I really again speak it into
- 34:58existence.
- 34:59>> Well, look Patrick, once again, many
- 35:01congratulations on the weekend. The job
- 35:04well done. It's definitely got all the
- 35:07fans excited and now we can we can just
- 35:11sit back and well, we can sit back. You
- 35:13you're back to work, but we can sit back
- 35:14and watch you guys get to work. Leads of
- 35:17Olympia. Obviously, I'll be there front
- 35:19centered to see the whole thing, but
- 35:22this this could be this could be a 212
- 35:25to remember this year. Could be
- 35:26something very special.
- 35:27>> And and allow me the last, you know, the
- 35:30last thing
- 35:30>> because in the past years, you know,
- 35:32we've heard a little bit of knock on the
- 35:34212 class that, you know, some people
- 35:37even saying that we didn't need the 212
- 35:40and uh I mean, all what I've seen now
- 35:43from, you know, a lot of 212 guys is
- 35:46very good bodybuilding. is exciting
- 35:48bodybuilding. I mean with somebody like
- 35:50Keon in that class who represents
- 35:53bodybuilding at its finest, you know,
- 35:55physiques like Nihad now, obviously
- 35:58always great like Sean Kita can even win
- 36:01open pro shows. There is so many good
- 36:04guys in that class and they bring
- 36:06excitement and I feel there's definitely
- 36:09room for the 212. It's definitely
- 36:11excited and it carries a lot of really
- 36:14great physique. So, I hope you know
- 36:16people out there who were criticizing
- 36:17the 212 class will have will be worth
- 36:21the price of admission to see those guys
- 36:23battle it out.
- 36:24>> Amazing. Patrick, thanks for your time.
- 36:27>> Thank you for having me. Have a great
- 36:28day.
