- 0:00takeover of the schools on the Isle of
- 0:02Man earlier in the program
- 0:04and I wanted to deliver on it because I
- 0:06know this is important if you're keeping
- 0:08up with all 73 genders then you need to
- 0:11be able to distinguish them
- 0:14and I know a lot of people are asking
- 0:16hey Dan what's the difference between a
- 0:19paraboy and a demi boy how did you know
- 0:21I was going to ask you that that's a lot
- 0:23of people are asking I can't even
- 0:24mention five genders
- 0:26yeah I don't know so uh take out your
- 0:30notebooks and and here's a distillation
- 0:32of the difference between a paraboy and
- 0:36a demi boy
- 0:38what's the what's the what's up
- 0:43[Music]
- 0:46para Boy versus
- 0:49Danny Boy
- 0:52people who identify as perigender feel
- 0:55as though their gender is made up of a
- 0:57dominant gender and a minor gender or
- 0:59genders and people who identify as
- 1:02paraboy feel as though their dominant
- 1:04gender is male pull their minor gender
- 1:08could be any gender and genders but
- 1:11their dominant is male versus people who
- 1:14identify as Debbie boy who feel as
- 1:17though part of their gender is male and
- 1:19the other part could be any or multiple
- 1:22genders
- 1:23between Parable and dummy boy is people
- 1:27who identify as paraboy know that their
- 1:30dominant gender is male allow people who
- 1:33identify as Demi boy feel as though
- 1:35their gender is partly male people who
- 1:37identify as Demi boy may feel that part
- 1:40of their gender is male but it doesn't
- 1:42necessarily mean that it is the dominant
- 1:45gender versus people who are paraboy who
- 1:48know that their dominant gender is male
- 1:50not every parent boy and Demi boy are
- 1:53the same as other Perry boys and Demi
- 1:56boys
- 1:56[Music]
- 1:57advice anyway that
- 1:59day
- 2:00[Music]
- 2:05does that help
- 2:08ew what what did I just listen to the
- 2:11more you know I don't know if uh that uh
- 2:14Young
- 2:16man is on the faculty at Harvard yet but
- 2:21I'm sure he will be soon enough yeah
- 2:23paraboy versus Demi boy if you're trying
- 2:25to keep up with all 73 genders
- 2:28uh and this is what you need to know
- 2:30because
- 2:32you're not going to be looped in if
- 2:34you're a parent
- 2:35at least that's the attitude of
- 2:38so many school districts so many
- 2:40administrators so many teachers and we
- 2:43know this is particularly pronounced in
- 2:45California because of those audio tapes
- 2:47that Abigail schreier was sent of a
- 2:50California Teachers Association meeting
- 2:52a couple of years ago where teachers
- 2:54were specifically talking about how to
- 2:57work around parents who are not on board
- 3:00with their child having
- 3:04one gender at school and another gender
- 3:07at home or or working on a new gender at
- 3:11school with the help of teachers and
- 3:14staff and keeping this information from
- 3:17parents that you're referring to your
- 3:18child their child by a different name or
- 3:21a different gender when they're in
- 3:24school
- 3:24well that's exactly what happened to
- 3:27Aurora Regino
- 3:29and she is now suing her child's School
- 3:31District she's a California mom and
- 3:34she's suing her child's school district
- 3:35for allegedly transitioning her 11 year
- 3:37old's gender in secret doing exactly
- 3:40what I suggested they do doing exactly
- 3:43what they suggested they would do on
- 3:45those tapes that Abigail schreier made
- 3:47public a couple of years ago Aurora
- 3:49Regina joins us now miss Regino thanks
- 3:52so much for joining us appreciate it
- 3:54hi thank you thank you for having me so
- 3:57uh tell us the story that of what
- 3:59happened with your child
- 4:02well um
- 4:04she was going to elementary school
- 4:07um uh here in California in Northern
- 4:10California at a school called Sierra
- 4:12View
- 4:12and she had
- 4:15um
- 4:16some confusion over her sexuality and
- 4:20voiced it to the school counselor she's
- 4:24ahead of what they call the wellness
- 4:25center I'm at the school and uh that day
- 4:30that she opened up to the counselor the
- 4:32counselor walked her to class
- 4:34and asked her if she would like to
- 4:36change her pronouns in class and that
- 4:38she would speak to her teacher and have
- 4:40that done for her
- 4:42that day
- 4:44okay so and then and that ostensibly
- 4:47happened and how did you find out about
- 4:50it yeah well that's really kind of the
- 4:54interesting thing because you know they
- 4:56they kind of the school district is
- 4:59saying that they are unable to let
- 5:02parents know unless the child tells them
- 5:06that they can let parents know well in
- 5:08fact this this counselor was having
- 5:10one-on-one meetings with my child that I
- 5:13did not know of and during these
- 5:16one-on-one meetings after they
- 5:18transitioned my daughter at school to a
- 5:20boy without my knowledge she did tell
- 5:22the counselor that she wanted to tell me
- 5:24and the counselor uh
- 5:28just kind of disregarded or just ignored
- 5:31her request and was trying to encourage
- 5:34her to come out to other people first
- 5:38and not help her try to come out to her
- 5:41to her mother and her family so my my
- 5:45daughter told my my mother which my
- 5:48mother told me and that's how I found
- 5:50out that she was you know a boy at
- 5:54school and she was still a
- 5:57a girl at home how long was that going
- 5:59on the the boy at school girl at home
- 6:01before you knew
- 6:03so
- 6:04um once I you know had reached out and
- 6:06talked to the counselor about when the
- 6:09initial
- 6:10um coming out was to her I think she
- 6:12told me it was about the middle of
- 6:14February and then
- 6:17um I found out
- 6:18at the beginning of April so I would say
- 6:21you know a couple months couple months
- 6:23and then when you found this out and you
- 6:26went to the school to talk to the
- 6:30counselor and or administrators what did
- 6:32they say to you
- 6:34you know that's kind of um eye-opening
- 6:38for me too I guess I you know very naive
- 6:40and I just thought well you know the
- 6:42fact that the counselor did this just so
- 6:44quickly and behind my back that you know
- 6:46our administrators would think that that
- 6:49was wrong and they wouldn't want that
- 6:52for the children of the district
- 6:54especially at such a young age
- 6:56um to my surprise uh none of them really
- 6:59wanted to hear much of what happened and
- 7:02they just wanted to tell me that this
- 7:04was law they didn't want to hear the
- 7:06story of how quick it was or really you
- 7:09know even any of the specifics they
- 7:11wanted to go straight to bullying me and
- 7:14telling me that there's nothing I can do
- 7:16and that this is the law so what was
- 7:18your daughter's I mean did you notice a
- 7:20change in your daughter's attitude or
- 7:22behavior
- 7:24during that time you know she
- 7:25transitioned at school but not at home
- 7:28so there was a difference in um her
- 7:31style and behavior our family had been
- 7:35through quite a bit of trauma within the
- 7:38last year we had um my father died and
- 7:41then six months later I was diagnosed
- 7:43with breast cancer and I'm a single mom
- 7:45of my two young children so I she
- 7:48definitely was going through some
- 7:50distress and during this change
- 7:53um I was also studying for state boards
- 7:56to be a nurse so our family had a lot of
- 7:59let's say turmoil at that time you know
- 8:02nothing in that was you know
- 8:04extremely uh rare or but it was a hard
- 8:08time for our family let's just say and
- 8:10so I see she she did was she was kind of
- 8:13developing like a a different style
- 8:15which I was kind of thought was
- 8:18different and she wasn't wearing her
- 8:20cute little sweaters that she normally
- 8:22wore she always identified you know if
- 8:25you were to pick like male or female she
- 8:27always was very girly even at a very
- 8:29young age so the change in wanting to
- 8:32wear sweat supposed to like cute jeans
- 8:34and sweaters was a little different for
- 8:37me and I asked her about it but then I
- 8:39also you know she had just started
- 8:40puberty and you know I was letting her
- 8:44as long as it was appropriate you know
- 8:46attire letting her being able to be an
- 8:48individual and wear what she liked as
- 8:50well so
- 8:52um and she was sleeping a lot during
- 8:53that time and so I would you know I
- 8:55would talk to her and she would just say
- 8:57I think I'm growing and mind you it was
- 8:59kind of a short little time and like I
- 9:02said I was a little preoccupied stating
- 9:05for those studying for those boards so
- 9:07it was just a very confusing time for
- 9:10our family in general but I never
- 9:12thought in a million years that the
- 9:15school district would transition her
- 9:16without my knowledge I thought if
- 9:18there's something significant that was
- 9:20going on with my child at school they
- 9:22would reach out to me in some way and in
- 9:24fact um when I went in for the
- 9:26parent-teacher conference I talked to
- 9:28her teacher specifically and I said look
- 9:30you know our family has gone through
- 9:32these you know hardships this year
- 9:35um the death of my dad and me having
- 9:37cancer if you see any changes with my
- 9:41daughter at school please reach out to
- 9:43me because you know I am not here with
- 9:46her at school and if she's displaying
- 9:49any sort of distress please let me know
- 9:52and
- 9:53um they didn't do anything at all do you
- 9:57think this is do they do they have like
- 9:59some idea that you wouldn't be
- 10:01supportive and or is this just from your
- 10:05Intuition or maybe understanding that
- 10:07this is just policy that just they just
- 10:09do this regardless of whether they think
- 10:12the parent is on board or not
- 10:14well you know I actually asked the
- 10:17counselor that specific question I said
- 10:19why wouldn't you let me know like why
- 10:21wouldn't you let me know what's going on
- 10:22with my child like why why in your
- 10:25professional opinion think that this was
- 10:27the best way to go
- 10:29um with her and wanting to transition
- 10:32um and she said well I've let parents
- 10:34know in the past and it didn't go well
- 10:37oh my god of course yeah of course so
- 10:41just avoid the parents so we could solve
- 10:43that problem that's no that's easy
- 10:45enough
- 10:46um do you know do you want I think go
- 10:48ahead I think the biggest thing for me
- 10:50was
- 10:51um that she was going through all this
- 10:52she was transitioned at school by her
- 10:54without her family support and um not to
- 10:58say I wouldn't support her because I
- 10:59would I probably wouldn't have done it
- 11:01immediately because she had never
- 11:03displayed
- 11:04um any sort of confusion with their
- 11:06sexuality for any length of time but if
- 11:09it continued I would definitely support
- 11:11her and I would give her the tools to
- 11:14help
- 11:15um her go through that change at school
- 11:18let's say The Bullying that the
- 11:20transgender Community you know
- 11:22constantly you know cries out and
- 11:24they're you know saying oh this is the
- 11:26reason why we need all these laws in
- 11:28place because we're bullied and all this
- 11:30stuff well my daughter went through all
- 11:32that by herself the school district
- 11:34transitioned her and just left her to
- 11:37figure it all out on her own as 11 year
- 11:39old young girl
- 11:41and nobody was around to help her and
- 11:44support her she was eating lunch by
- 11:46herself in the library which she was
- 11:48always a very social happy child before
- 11:50that would never have done that she was
- 11:53going into the school office and now was
- 11:55outed these administrators in the office
- 11:57were calling her by a boy name and her
- 11:59new you know pronouns and she's thinking
- 12:01how did they even know it I didn't tell
- 12:03them you know they basically outed her
- 12:06publicly with everybody except letting
- 12:08her own family know I'm not sure she's a
- 12:11mascot for them what um uh what where is
- 12:13she now in terms of all this your
- 12:16daughter
- 12:21you know she's doing well and she has
- 12:25gotten back into her regular bubbly
- 12:28happy self again she's not sleeping all
- 12:31the time she
- 12:33um like we look back at pictures even
- 12:35during that time and she kind of just
- 12:36looked like a deer in a headlight like
- 12:38her eyes were just kind of like wide
- 12:40open very confused I mean I think you
- 12:44can think about how confusing that would
- 12:46be and for a young child to be one thing
- 12:50at school and something totally
- 12:52different at home
- 12:54it must be it was totally confusing for
- 12:57her in fact it was it was damaging to a
- 13:00young child that was in distress because
- 13:02of the the situation that happened what
- 13:05was going on at home you know with our
- 13:07family and they really made wounds that
- 13:11she had even deeper did they um attempt
- 13:15or talk about putting her on puberty
- 13:17blockers or anything like that to
- 13:19facilitate a further transition
- 13:22um she said the counselor was talking to
- 13:24her about support groups outside of
- 13:27school the local one here is called
- 13:30Stonewall Alliance and how she could
- 13:33reach out to them and get
- 13:37um a breast finder to bind her breasts
- 13:40to help with the transition she also
- 13:42brought up to my daughter about Top
- 13:44surgery
- 13:46my 11 year old daughter yes unbelievable
- 13:50um well I don't I don't remember she did
- 13:52not say anything about puberty blockers
- 13:55um but she did she did bring up those
- 13:57things with my daughter without some
- 13:59knowledge skipping ahead yeah Top
- 14:01surgery skipping ahead right past the
- 14:02POV blockers
- 14:04um the um the other parents in the
- 14:06school you know parents of other kids in
- 14:08the school that you know do they know
- 14:11that this was the school policy have you
- 14:12had conversations with other parents
- 14:15you know
- 14:17I didn't realize this was the policy
- 14:19when everything first happened I really
- 14:21thought that this counselor did an
- 14:24overreach and the school district would
- 14:27want to know and stop this from
- 14:29happening it wasn't until
- 14:32um my meeting with the superintendent
- 14:36that that they were hard-nosed that this
- 14:39was a law it you know they they were
- 14:42very misleading during you know some of
- 14:45our conversations obviously my first
- 14:47conversation with the principal and even
- 14:49the head of the elementary schools um
- 14:51Ted Sullivan they were very much like
- 14:54this is the law you know what do you
- 14:56want us to do break the law kind of
- 14:57thing and then I met with um an
- 14:59individual which is the assistant
- 15:01superintendent of our district Jay
- 15:03Marshawn and he was you know
- 15:06um
- 15:06misleading and the fact where he was he
- 15:09was the first one I felt like actually
- 15:11listened to my daughter's story and what
- 15:14happened and was even listening like
- 15:16well what do you you know he would say
- 15:18things kind of like well what would you
- 15:19think we should do and I'm like bring
- 15:21the parents in unless you have reason to
- 15:24believe that they're gonna harm the
- 15:26child like why would you automatically
- 15:28go to straight to hiding it from the
- 15:30family you're actually damaging the
- 15:32child right they're harming the child
- 15:35um but by protect I mean it's just
- 15:37everything's upside down obviously but
- 15:39but other parents like like parents of
- 15:41other students do they know about this
- 15:43or do they do now because of your story
- 15:45they do now they do now they do know I I
- 15:48really during the process I kind of kept
- 15:50it within my circle and within my close
- 15:52friends there were some people that knew
- 15:54but I really wanted the district to do
- 15:56the right thing I wasn't looking to you
- 15:59know have to
- 16:02um make a sense to let people know how
- 16:04wrong it was because I really thought
- 16:05they they thought they would think it
- 16:07was wrong too
- 16:09Aurora Regina California mom suing her
