  1. 0:00i i think the behavior of the
  2. 0:03the dust
  3. 0:05uh was quite remarkable because it
  4. 0:07really made uh
  5. 0:10boot prints stand out as if uh you
  6. 0:14really had some substance that all that
  7. 0:17transferred from from just a dusty
  8. 0:19surface to now uh a compact
  9. 0:22uh like talcum powder
  10. 0:25but it's not really when you get look at
  11. 0:27it's not
  12. 0:28uh it's not round like sand is because
  13. 0:31there's no air to blow the dust and
  14. 0:34round the edges
  15. 0:36and and uh what it really is
  16. 0:39is fractured glass
  17. 0:41spheres
  18. 0:43when a small particle strikes
  19. 0:46dust that's been there it causes the
  20. 0:49melting of what it hits and it splashes
  21. 0:52out
  22. 0:53and then it distributes around spheres
  23. 0:57of glass that may fracture on impact but
  24. 1:00certainly they're going to be hit by
  25. 1:02other things later on
  26. 1:04so the glass which is
  27. 1:06melted rock
  28. 1:08cooled rapidly
  29. 1:11because it's small it'll cool rapidly
  30. 1:14and that was a surprise to a lot of
  31. 1:16people
  32. 1:17but that wasn't something that we
  33. 1:19realized right away it just behaved
  34. 1:21differently when i would put my foot
  35. 1:24down it would spray out
  36. 1:26and it all landed in a semicircle
  37. 1:30it doesn't do that here on earth it just
  38. 1:33looks different because you've got an
  39. 1:34atmosphere on here
  40. 1:36and when when you put your foot down
  41. 1:38what what sprinkles out is in a lot of
  42. 1:41different directions and there's there's
  43. 1:43air to change its uh direction
  44. 1:46uh it just behaves differently
  45. 1:50but the realization
  46. 1:53of an intellect
  47. 1:55that looks at something and then
  48. 1:57realizes that it hasn't changed in
  49. 2:00hundreds of thousands of years just a
  50. 2:02little bit more dust has accumulated
  51. 2:06if there was a big impact it would it
  52. 2:08would be fresh looking but if it's just
  53. 2:10kind of rolly like that you know that
  54. 2:12that and and you can look and see
  55. 2:15the horizon curving away
  56. 2:18because it's so clear
  57. 2:20and and uh you know uh
  58. 2:23i shouldn't use that word uh
  59. 2:26most people talk about a flat earth
  60. 2:29society well you get in certain places
  61. 2:31where it's flat and and you can convince
  62. 2:34yourself that is flat but not on the
  63. 2:36moon you can just see it
  64. 2:39kind of
  65. 2:40curving away
  66. 2:42and you can imagine that you're on a
  67. 2:45ball
