- 0:00A little bit. So we're getting all this
- 0:03. So I might as well tell you now that
- 0:07I've started to get this. I'm but it's
- 0:09not possible. What is this mass? This
- 0:11is the first year, huh. Here you mainly
- 0:13come across these two subjects there
- 0:17that are a bit crazy. So biochemistry
- 0:23which is in two volumes and
- 0:25microbiology in one volume. And there
- 0:34and there it is the shock. Okay, so you
- 0:37voted for us to do the live tonight. So
- 0:40there you go. We're going to do the
- 0:41live tonight. I hope I'll be able to
- 0:43record, that I'll manage to manage all
- 0:45this. Uh Ah but there are people who
- 0:48join. Well, that's good, that means
- 0:50it's working. So uh I put a filter of
- 0:53course to try to be a little more
- 0:55pimped. Uh I'm doing this live to talk
- 1:01about my career path, uh and especially
- 1:04the BTS with dietetics with the KNED.
- 1:10So I'm going to try to be fairly
- 1:12concise because if you follow me, I
- 1:14tend to talk a lot. So I'm going to try
- 1:17to be fairly concise and tell you a
- 1:21little bit about the questions I'm
- 1:22often asked. Oh, hi, that's cool, there
- 1:25are people who say hi, that's good. And
- 1:28then at the end, I'll try to answer
- 1:30questions if you have any live and, uh,
- 1:33the questions I've already been asked
- 1:35in private messages on my messaging. So
- 1:39, I've taken little notes. So sometimes
- 1:41I'll look anyway because I don't really
- 1:42want to get lost. So there you have it.
- 1:46So, uh, the question I'm asked very
- 1:49often is why I went back to the BTS in
- 1:54dietetics at my age, huh? So, there you
- 1:58have it, I'm not that old, but anyway.
- 2:01So, in fact, my turning point for
- 2:03nutrition came with the birth of my son
- 2:05Achil. So that's where the name of my
- 2:08account comes from, which is called
- 2:09Achil's Kitchen. In fact, in Chile, he
- 2:12was born, I started breastfeeding him,
- 2:15it didn't go well, he's a little baby,
- 2:18breastfeeding wasn't going well. So I
- 2:22started bottle-feeding to make some mix
- 2:28and in fact after a week, he was full
- 2:30of plaque, irregularities. And anyway,
- 2:35I'll do another live on Vaschi protein
- 2:37allergy if you're interested. But so
- 2:40there you have it, and in fact, so
- 2:42there you have it, Hil was diagnosed
- 2:45with an allergy to cow's milk protein.
- 2:49Uh, and in fact, once you're told that,
- 2:51once the diagnosis is made, well,
- 2:52that's it, things are settled. You buy
- 2:56milk without cow's milk protein and you
- 2:59, uh, you live your life. And in fact,
- 3:02I realized that in fact cow's milk
- 3:04protein is in a lot of things. So,
- 3:06that's how I opened my eyes to
- 3:11nutrition. So after being diagnosed
- 3:15with an allergy, I did a lot of
- 3:18research and so I started an Instagram
- 3:21account and a blog called La Cuisine
- 3:23d'Achide to be able to discuss
- 3:26allergies and get advice on them, and
- 3:29share them. And little by little, I was
- 3:32asked a lot of very technical questions
- 3:34that were no longer my area of
- 3:36expertise, and I thought to myself, "
- 3:38This is exciting, I have to make a
- 3:40living out of it." So, at the same time
- 3:44, I was a photoshoot coordinator. So
- 3:49that involved taking care of
- 3:51photoshoots for fashion brands, and my
- 3:56company had finally closed, so it was
- 3:58closed for good. So we were all laid
- 4:02off. Uh, and the economic layoffs in
- 4:06France, that's cool because, well,
- 4:08that's cool—it's not cool when it
- 4:10happens to you—but, in fact, it's
- 4:12pretty well done because in fact they
- 4:14offer you personalized support for a
- 4:17year and continued salary for at least
- 4:19a year, plus unemployment after that.
- 4:22So in fact, that was it, anyway, it
- 4:24allowed me to have time to really think
- 4:27about what I wanted to do. So in fact,
- 4:30right after that first year when I
- 4:35launched Achile's kitchen, I had just
- 4:37lost my job, I said to myself, well,
- 4:39I'm going to take a BTS in dietetics.
- 4:43And I said to myself, well, via Pnet,
- 4:46that's great. So distance learning
- 4:48seemed totally suitable to me. It was a
- 4:52BTS, it seemed easy to me. I didn't
- 4:55think that was cool. I did a bac + 5 in
- 4:57communication. The BTS is going to be
- 5:00super easy. For me, it will allow me to
- 5:03learn the basics. It will allow me to
- 5:05balance my life as a mother. So, let's
- 5:08go ahead and start over with the BTS in
- 5:11dietetics via KNET. So there you have
- 5:13it, I registered in September 2017.
- 5:21There you have it, it was really easy,
- 5:24registration. There you have it, I
- 5:26hadn't necessarily done a lot of
- 5:28research for myself. We went back to
- 5:30school, it was easy, all you had to do
- 5:32was work and that's it. And then, at
- 5:36the time, I received, you could take
- 5:38the option, so you followed the courses
- 5:41online, but you could also take the
- 5:42option, uh, paper courses. So, you
- 5:46received all the courses on paper. And
- 5:49then, I received all my courses. I can
- 5:54tell you, I took out the mass on
- 5:55purpose. So I'll show you a little bit.
- 5:59So that's all we receive. So I might as
- 6:05well tell you, I started to get that. I
- 6:08thought to myself, "What the hell is
- 6:09this mass?" That's the first year,
- 6:11right? I just thought, "What the hell
- 6:14is this mass?" Oh my God! Okay, no
- 6:16worries. Let's go, let's go. It's going
- 6:20to go really well. And then you start
- 6:24to discover things and you come across
- 6:27these two subjects that are a bit crazy
- 6:34. So biochemistry, which is in two
- 6:38volumes, and microbiology, in one
- 6:41volume. And then you realize that I
- 6:51also did a high school diploma in
- 6:53economics and social sciences, and I
- 6:56thought that it must have some
- 6:58scientific background, but that I was
- 7:01going to learn it. It was a shock. No,
- 7:05really, honestly, these are incredible
- 7:09courses. It's really, really
- 7:11complicated. So, I started working on
- 7:15my own, making a schedule, doing
- 7:20biochemistry on Monday morning, Tuesday
- 7:22after, well, Monday afternoon, culinary
- 7:24techniques, and Tuesday. I made a
- 7:26schedule like this and in fact, in
- 7:30October, I found out I was pregnant and
- 7:36from the very first, very very early
- 7:40ultrasound, I found out it was twins.
- 7:45There you go, to make things easier. So
- 7:49, in October, I knew I was pregnant
- 7:51with twins, that I was supposed to give
- 7:53birth in June. But, in fact, from the
- 7:58beginning, I was warned that a twin
- 8:00pregnancy was a bit special, that I
- 8:03would be able to move less, do less
- 8:07things, while hoping not to be confined
- 8:10to bed very quickly, because that was
- 8:13kind of the challenge. So I, well, it's
- 8:17funny, everyone joins, I don't know. So
- 8:22, I said to myself, well, I have to be
- 8:26efficient. In the first year, we have
- 8:30two internships to do, which are in
- 8:32collective catering. So, I said to
- 8:35myself: "Try to get your two
- 8:36internships as soon as possible, while
- 8:39you can still move, so as not to lose
- 8:41your first year and try to validate
- 8:43your internships so that you can still
- 8:45do your second year next year." Well,
- 8:48at that point, I already had it in my
- 8:50head that I was going to do the BTS in
- 8:522 years, and given the amount of work,
- 8:53given the pregnancy that happened, the
- 8:55pregnancy, I have my...on top of that.
- 8:57So I said to myself: "Okay, you'll do
- 8:59it in 2 years, but try to at least do
- 9:01your internships in a restaurant the
- 9:03first year." So I started looking, and
- 9:06in fact, even internships in a
- 9:08restaurant are not that easy to find.
- 9:10So I looked in three cities. So Nant,
- 9:13the city where I live, Amien, the city
- 9:15where my mother lives half the time,
- 9:17and Biarit. So there you have it, I
- 9:19managed to find my internships in a
- 9:21restaurant right at the beginning of
- 9:22the year. So I found my first in
- 9:25Biaritz in January and the second in
- 9:28Nant. Luckily, actually. So there you
- 9:32go, I told myself to keep working and
- 9:34do your internships in restaurants. So
- 9:36there, I was revising at the same time
- 9:38and I did my internships in mass
- 9:40catering. I tried, but I made a mistake
- 9:45and this is my advice to you, try to
- 9:47find out about the dissertation that
- 9:50needs to be submitted to be. It doesn't
- 9:54work anymore. I hope it will work out.
- 9:55Ah, it's back, I think. So there you go
- 9:58. So I tried to search, try to glean as
- 10:01much information as possible to be
- 10:03effective in my dissertation. So there
- 10:06you have it, my first two internships
- 10:07in the first year. So there you go, I
- 10:10gave birth, I took my time, I started
- 10:13my second year again in September 2018
- 10:17but with the twins almost full-time
- 10:20with me. So there you go. So then, I
- 10:23thought to myself, this is the second
- 10:25year of taking two subjects as an
- 10:27independent candidate. So I had taken
- 10:32the entire course with the PNET. So I
- 10:37had paid for the full year, and there
- 10:41was still the possibility of the
- 10:45paperwork. So I paid for my second year
- 10:50in total, and I took it and registered
- 10:53as an independent candidate, an
- 10:55independent candidate for culinary
- 11:01techniques and co-management. So I
- 11:05won't go into detail about what it is.
- 11:07Those who are taking, or rather those
- 11:09who want to do, the BTS in dietetics
- 11:10know what it is. My culinary techniques
- 11:13, in fact, you learn recipes by heart
- 11:16that you have to reproduce in a
- 11:18professional kitchen. You have a set
- 11:21time, you have two recipes, you have a
- 11:23technical sheet to do and the
- 11:24co-management. So, it's the subject to
- 11:26teach you to be independent, but it's
- 11:28more than complete. So here, it's the
- 11:30same, these are two subjects that
- 11:33require a lot of work. And to give
- 11:36myself the best possible chance, I did
- 11:38two internships. So I took the culinary
- 11:42technique internship with the KNED in
- 11:44Bordeaux and the internship, but I
- 11:46recommend it. So there you have it, the
- 11:50only problem with the BTS, I'll say it
- 11:52right away but I'll repeat it too, but
- 11:55with the BTS in dietetics, the distance
- 11:58BTS in dietetics, what was missing for
- 12:00me, was a lot of things. You feel a
- 12:03little bit alone with yourself. So you
- 12:07take internships, you take extra
- 12:08classes because there are lots of
- 12:10things that you don't understand, you
- 12:12don't understand. So for the culinary
- 12:16technique, it's so precise that I took
- 12:19the internship in Bordeaux. So a week
- 12:23of apartment, a week of paying for the
- 12:24internship, travel and everything, but
- 12:26essential. You learn everything, all
- 12:29the conditions of the tests. So for a
- 12:34week, you cook hard, we give advice,
- 12:36you fill out technical sheets, you fill
- 12:38out, well, you really learn how to do
- 12:40it. And I also did a 2-day internship
- 12:44with Karine CRX. So I don't know if she
- 12:47still gives classes, or if she still
- 12:49does oh la la, I'm not at all ready for
- 12:52live classes actually. I don't even
- 12:55know how long. I really have to be
- 12:56careful with my time because otherwise
- 12:57it's going to be really annoying. So, I
- 13:00did my two-day eco-management course
- 13:02with Karine in Paris and it's the same.
- 13:06She opened my eyes to a lot of things.
- 13:08Learning how to use your calculator.
- 13:10That was really a big highlight for me.
- 13:13So for those who ask me how I managed
- 13:15to pass the co-management exams, well,
- 13:17I did an internship. So I think there's
- 13:19an internship with the KNED too, but I
- 13:21took it with Karine in Paris. So the
- 13:22same thing, you pay for your train, you
- 13:24pay for your accommodation, you pay for
- 13:27that, but it was really good. So, in
- 13:29June 2019, I took the two exams and
- 13:35passed them. And since I had already
- 13:38done a second year and was re-enrolling
- 13:42for the second year, I took all the
- 13:45courses for the BTS in dietetics with
- 13:48the KNED, without taking the paper
- 13:51courses this time. But that way, I
- 13:54could already have all the course
- 14:00updates and I was able to get
- 14:02internship agreements to do my
- 14:05internships. So, normally, internships
- 14:09at the hospital take place from January
- 14:11or even February. Once you have started
- 14:15to assimilate the concepts of the
- 14:17second year. But since I had already
- 14:21done a second year, I was able to do my
- 14:25internships in July, in July, so before
- 14:29the third year and in October. So that
- 14:33was the great strength of my BTS. So I
- 14:37did my therapeutic internships at the
- 14:40beginning of the year, which everyone
- 14:42else does at the end of the year. And
- 14:45that's great because in fact the other
- 14:47big problem with the BTS in nutrition
- 14:48is finding these therapeutic
- 14:50internships. And when you don't have
- 14:52any help, you have no one to help you.
- 14:54That's it, it's quite complicated. Uh,
- 14:57and there, there's only the nexus. Well
- 14:59, there's the nexus and then they ask
- 15:02who asks. I did my two internships in
- 15:06Amien because in Nant, I tried hard, I
- 15:09applied from the beginning of my first
- 15:12year and then, no response, no response
- 15:17. You follow up, you follow up, you
- 15:19follow up, you follow up. It's super
- 15:21complicated. So I did my two
- 15:22internships in Amien, where I was
- 15:25helped by my friends who are doctors
- 15:27and who managed to find me internships,
- 15:30so that I could do my therapeutic
- 15:32internships. So here it's the same,
- 15:35it's always the same actually. I had to
- 15:38leave my children with my husband, hire
- 15:40nannies, try to find emergency
- 15:44childcare to look after them so that I
- 15:46could go and do my internships. So
- 15:49that's it for internships. So you have
- 15:51to start looking for internships very,
- 15:54very, very quickly. Don't give up. Try
- 15:58to ask everyone. If you're already
- 16:01thinking about starting the 3-year BTS,
- 16:04try to apply during off-peak periods
- 16:06when there won't be any students from
- 16:08school like I did, such as in the
- 16:09summer or at the beginning of the year.
- 16:12So the KNET allows that, in fact, once
- 16:14you've already done a second year, they
- 16:16allow you to do your internships
- 16:17beforehand. So that's really an
- 16:19advantage because at least you're less
- 16:21likely to apply at the same time as the
- 16:22others. And so in the 2nd year, 2nd
- 16:26year, 2nd year, I took all the subjects
- 16:27and that's the same thing to give
- 16:29myself the best possible chance. In
- 16:32fact, in my first year, everything was
- 16:34complicated, but I had already taken a
- 16:36refresher course in biochemistry
- 16:37because I realized that I couldn't do
- 16:39biochemistry at all. I didn't
- 16:41understand anything. I didn't
- 16:42understand anything, honestly, I
- 16:44understood absolutely nothing. So I
- 16:46took the refresher course with prép.
- 16:51So, all of that is paid for, of course.
- 16:54But I took the refresher course with
- 16:56prépadiète and then I took all the
- 16:58courses, well, I took lots and lots of
- 17:01online courses with prépadiè as well.
- 17:03So, all the biochemistry courses,
- 17:06microbiology, I took physiopathology, a
- 17:12few nutrition courses. Uh, at the time
- 17:15there was CDA, now it doesn't exist
- 17:17anymore, but knowledge of food. I had
- 17:20taken a few classes and I had also
- 17:23taken the support for the thesis to
- 17:25make sure I would produce a great
- 17:28thesis because in fact the subjects are
- 17:31so complicated, the tests are so dense
- 17:34that you can see in which subject you
- 17:37will be the most effective to earn
- 17:40points. In fact, you have to earn
- 17:42points and there are subjects like that
- 17:44. You have to work hard on culinary
- 17:47techniques to try to earn points. You
- 17:49have to try to earn points on
- 17:50eco-management. The thesis has to be
- 17:52perfect to try to earn points. Because
- 17:56biochemistry is complicated, because
- 17:58all these subjects are very complicated
- 18:00. So you have to try to earn as many
- 18:04points as possible where you can earn
- 18:06them. So there you have it, I took the
- 18:10classes and I tried to write a great
- 18:12thesis, especially since I had time to
- 18:13really prepare it since I had done my
- 18:15internship at the beginning of the year
- 18:17. Oh yes, and in between, I did my
- 18:20internship, uh, no, and in December I
- 18:23did my optional internship. So in fact,
- 18:25I managed to do all my internships
- 18:27before Covid, that was crazy. I did my
- 18:29optional internship in my children's
- 18:30nursery. So in fact, I had finished all
- 18:33my 2nd year internships in December,
- 18:35which really left me time to work on my
- 18:37dissertation and my other subjects. And
- 18:41there you have it, that was a big
- 18:42advantage, but because I did my BT at
- 18:44103 years old, and that's it. And as
- 18:48you know, in March, the epidemic hit.
- 18:53Uh, everyone's internships were
- 18:55canceled. So I wasn't in that situation
- 18:57. So I continued to revise, except that
- 18:59I had the children at home. So there
- 19:00you have it. And in April, I think
- 19:04April or May, we were told that we
- 19:07would be graduating through continuous
- 19:09assessment, even for us BTS Kned
- 19:12students, those who had taken the full
- 19:15year. And then, I thanked heavens that
- 19:19I had taken the full year instead of
- 19:21taking courses by subject, because in
- 19:24fact, I had done the math: if I still
- 19:26wanted to have quality teaching and be
- 19:29up to date, it would have been better
- 19:31to pay all at once than to take courses
- 19:34by subject. And then, I was really
- 19:37grateful for having paid again for my
- 19:412nd year and so I was able to benefit
- 19:44from continuous assessment. That is to
- 19:47say, I had already taken quite a few
- 19:49exams. Well, in fact, through the KNED,
- 19:52in fact, you have a schedule to submit
- 19:54homework like that which you do on a
- 19:57table, which you do in exam conditions
- 19:59at school. And so there you have it, it
- 20:03was a real struggle for those we
- 20:05followed, it was a roller coaster. But
- 20:08hey, I graduated through continuous
- 20:14assessment, and my thesis wasn't
- 20:17corrected because my grade was high
- 20:20enough that I didn't have to present my
- 20:23thesis. So it was really a year of
- 20:25frustration because you work like crazy
- 20:28, you prepare a thesis, you work really
- 20:33hard, you do all your internships and
- 20:36in fact you can't present your work.
- 20:38But hey, at least I graduated. I
- 20:42graduated in July at the same time as
- 20:44the wave, even though at first they
- 20:46didn't want to give us a diploma. So, I
- 20:49graduated because of COVID, so I can't,
- 20:54well, I'm not sure I would have
- 20:57graduated in full. I might have
- 21:01repeated a year or retaken a subject.
- 21:05So, I don't know, I don't know what I
- 21:07would have become without graduating
- 21:09because of Covid. Okay, I had worked
- 21:11really hard, honestly, I think I could
- 21:14have done well in some subjects. My
- 21:16thesis had been corrected by Emmanuel,
- 21:19who basically manages the prep course
- 21:22and who had validated my thesis. There
- 21:25you have it. So here's a little bit of
- 21:28my background. So to summarize, I did
- 21:32my BTS in 3 years, paying in full each
- 21:36year through the KNED. I registered as
- 21:43an independent candidate for the last 3
- 21:45years because the independent candidate
- 21:47allows you to keep your grades even if
- 21:49they are below 10. For example, if I
- 21:52had gotten an 8 in biochemistry in the
- 21:542nd year, but I still couldn't get my
- 21:56diploma, but I thought an 8 was a great
- 21:58grade in biochemistry, and I didn't
- 22:00even think I could get a higher one,
- 22:02well I could have kept my H8 in fact.
- 22:05But hey, those are still the subtleties
- 22:07of the BTS. So there you have it, 3
- 22:12years paid for with the PN, each time I
- 22:15registered as a free candidate in my
- 22:19academy, and I took all the possible
- 22:23courses and internships I could do in
- 22:26addition to training. Uh, there you
- 22:30have it. So, I'm asked if the question
- 22:34that comes up the most is "Can I do
- 22:36this BTS with young children and while
- 22:39working?" Well, I don't have the answer
- 22:44, but I don't know anyone who has done
- 22:47it while working, and I really think
- 22:50it's complicated because it's a huge
- 22:53amount of work, but really huge because
- 22:56the subjects are very dense and really
- 23:00require a lot of work, plus the
- 23:02children. Well, I think it's very
- 23:05complicated. After that, when you want
- 23:07to, you can. After that, you don't have
- 23:09to do it in 2 years, you can do it in 3
- 23:11years, in 4 years. There you have it.
- 23:14You can also work, go subject by
- 23:16subject, try to do your internships
- 23:19during your holidays or negotiate with
- 23:21your employer. There you have it. I
- 23:23don't know anyone who did it while
- 23:25working. In any case, the other
- 23:28question I get asked is, is the
- 23:29teaching still up to date? No, really,
- 23:33there are still a lot of concepts that
- 23:36aren't covered enough, especially
- 23:38vegetarian and vegan concepts, and
- 23:43allergies. There you go, we're kind of
- 23:45at a loss. So, I'm starting to take
- 23:50more courses. So, that's it, it's a BTS
- 23:53that's expensive. So, either you're
- 23:58really good, really good, you can do it
- 24:01just with the BTS, with the teachings
- 24:04from the KNED, it's great for you. I
- 24:09didn't succeed. So it's true that it
- 24:11cost me quite a lot. Quite a lot in the
- 24:13end. There you go. What did I answer to
- 24:19? Uh, there you have it, I think I've
- 24:30answered more or less all the questions
- 24:33. If you have any others for those who
- 24:36are online and want to say hello, feel
- 24:38free to ask them quickly. I hope I've
- 24:44covered everything. I won't talk about
- 24:49what comes next. That's a question I
- 24:51get asked too. Do you make a living?
- 24:53How did you manage to set up as a
- 24:55freelancer? Is it easy to find work in
- 24:57a hospital? I can't answer that right
- 25:00now. I'm a very young graduate, so I
- 25:03don't know much about it. So I won't
- 25:07talk about that. I've really explained
- 25:10to you why I got back into it. Oh yeah,
- 25:14so the question is, have I ever thought
- 25:18about giving up? So if I admit that
- 25:23once I started studying biochemistry,
- 25:25and I realized that it was a huge task,
- 25:28I really, really had a moment where I
- 25:31said to myself, "You can't do it, you
- 25:33can't do it." Well, in fact, the more
- 25:40you learn, the more you do. It also
- 25:42took me a long time to get back into
- 25:44studying, that is to say, to put my
- 25:46brain back into learning mode. And that
- 25:48, finally, I went back to studying when
- 25:51I was 33. Putting my brain back into
- 25:53learning mode, trying to demonstrate,
- 25:57to finally be as professional as
- 25:59possible. No, it's like, you have to
- 26:01learn, you have to learn, you have to
- 26:03learn, you have to learn. That's long,
- 26:06it's long. For me, it was really in the
- 26:09second year that my brain was, uh, it
- 26:11was trained, in learning, in the mass
- 26:13of information that it had to process,
- 26:15that it had to learn, uh, redo the
- 26:16cards, uh, revise in the evening, uh,
- 26:18well, all the little things that you
- 26:20had during your high school diploma,
- 26:22during your higher education, they come
- 26:24back, they don't come back right away.
- 26:27So you have to hang on too. So there
- 26:30you have it. Okay, I hope I've covered
- 26:32everything.
