0:44was a hard worker a loving family man
0:46and a church
0:48president but on the other side he was a
0:50serial killer reving in sadistic
0:53fantasies made Reality by the media
0:55attention at brought it this is the
0:58story of Dennis Raider the be BK killer

1:10the Man known as the Zodiac Killer there
1:12could be a serial killer in Chicago the
1:14openland County child killer Phantom
1:16killer Frankford slasher four children
1:18have now been murdered has killed five
1:20says he's going to kill again 15
1:22brutally murdered young women the
1:24pattern is the same one by one the death
1:26count started Rising a man in a mask
1:29robbed hide and stab them strangled
1:32stuff in burlap bags it is highly
1:35unlikely that these women were murdered
1:37by separate man where will the killer
1:39strike next police can't answer who or
1:42why that's the question that we'll never
1:43know I don't want to live the rest of my
1:45life wondering if this person's going to
1:47be caught I believe that there's someone
1:49out there that has knowledge and he's
1:50probably still at
1:57large this is 4815 North Sena and the
2:00northern part of wichon Kansas it is
2:03where the Raider family moved in the
2:05early 1950s from Pittsburgh Kansas a
2:08small City south of
2:10witch Dennis was the oldest of four Sons
2:12to William and Dorothy Raider his
2:15parents often worked long hours leaving
2:17the boys on their own which is where
2:19Dennis started to develop Disturbing
2:22Behavior his mother once got her finger
2:24stuck in a couch spring the image of a
2:26woman trapped in pleading for hell
2:28burned into his adolescent
2:31this would develop into him becoming a
2:33Voyer spying on women in nearby houses
2:35while he would be dressed in women's
2:37clothes or panties and tie a rope around
2:39his neck while pleasuring
2:42himself he would hang dogs and cats and
2:44watch them
2:46die who fantasized about women being
2:48tied in bondage Anette Funicello from
2:51the Musketeers being a particular
2:53favorite
2:54Fantasy by the time he graduated from
2:56witch all Heights High School in 1963 he
2:59was a Des cried as a quiet hardworking
3:01young man who chose his words carefully
3:04he did not care much for music joining
3:06any sports or clubs and had no sense of
3:09humor post graduation he worked at a
3:12local grocery store until enrolling in
3:14Wesleyan College in Selena about 90 Mi

3:21due to bad grades and would enroll in
3:23the United States Air Force training at
3:25multiple bases across the South before

3:36time he was honorably discharged in 1970
3:39he' attained the rank of Sergeant
3:40serving an additional two years as a
3:42reserve soldier when he moved back to
3:45witto it was at this time that he met
3:4723-year-old Paula deetz a fellow whhs
3:50graduate and the pair were married in
3:52less than a
3:54year they would purchase a small
3:56three-bedroom 960 ft house at 62 20
4:00independent Street in Park City a suburb
4:02north of witw and just a couple miles
4:04from his childhood
4:06home today the home is this vacant lot
4:09sold to the city and demolished
4:11following his
4:15[Music]
4:16arrest but for over 30 years the Raider
4:19family lived in this home having two
4:21children while Dennis would go back to
4:23college earning his electronics
4:25engineering degree in
4:271973 he then enrolled in night classes
4:30at wit dust State you which would take
4:32him 6 years to graduate with a Bachelor
4:34of Science in administration of
4:37justice during this time he worked a
4:39variety of jobs including Coleman
4:41company before settling at ADT Security
4:44in November 1974 becoming a home
4:47security
4:49installer but the earlier part of the
4:51year he had been between jobs and
4:53Restless Paula had begun working at the
4:55VA hospital in the city but didn't like
4:57driving in the snow so Dennis took to
5:00work after dropping her off he would
5:03begin what he called trolling driving or
5:06walking around neighborhoods and
5:07campuses around the city watching
5:10women as he did his fantasies of binding
5:13torturing and strangling them resurface

5:32one day he spotted 34-year-old Julia
5:34Otero and her two children exiting their
5:37new home at the corner of Edgemore and
5:39Murdoch Avenue on the east side of the
5:41city he began keeping a log book of
5:44projects or PJs as he referred to them
5:47deciding the oos which he named PJ
5:50little me would be his
5:52first he would scope out the house over
5:54a period of 2 months learning the
5:56family's movements all the while
5:58compiling a quote hit kick kit
6:00consisting of a gun cords knives and
6:02burglary
6:03tools if you read much about serial
6:05killers they go through what they call
6:07the trolling stage you're basically
6:08you're looking for a victim at that time
6:10and that you could be trolling for
6:12months or
6:13years but once you lock in on a certain
6:15person then you become a stocking and
6:16that might be several of them but you
6:18really home in on that person I got this
6:20fantasy I started working out this
6:22fantasy in my mind and once that
6:24potential that person become a fantasy I
6:27can just loop loop it over I lay bed at
6:30night thinking about this person the
6:32events and how it's going to happen and
6:34it become a real almost like a picture
6:36show you know I want to go ahead and
6:38produce it and direct it and go through
6:39with it no matter what the costs were
6:41the the
6:43consequences uh this it was going to
6:44happen one way or another maybe not that
6:46day but it was going to
6:49happen it was 8:00 a.m. January 15th
6:531974 when he
6:55struck first cutting the phone lines he
6:58went to the back of the house and waited
6:59until 9-year-old Joey Otero opened the
7:02door to let their dog out at which point
7:04he rushed inside and that is when his
7:07carefully constructed plan fell
7:09apart expecting just Julie and her two
7:12youngest of five children to be home he
7:14found her husband Joseph home as
7:17well at gunpoint he told them he was a
7:19wanted man and planed to just steal
7:21their
7:22car after putting the dog in the
7:24backyard he led the family to the living
7:26room and then to the front left bedroom
7:29where he tied hied them all
7:31up he would put a bag over Joseph's head
7:34and tied it leaving the man to suffocate
7:36while he used a rope to strangle
7:38Julie he then moved on to 11-year-old
7:41Josephine Otero strangling her and then
7:44placing a bag on
7:49Joey at this time Julie resuscitated and
7:52began screaming and Dennis went back to
7:54strangle her again
7:59he then took Joey into the back bedroom
8:02and covered his head in a shirt before
8:04placing the bag over it and tightening
8:06it until he would
8:12suffocate at this point Josephine had
8:15regain Consciousness and he took her
8:17into the basement where he hung her from
8:19a pipe orgasming as he watched the young
8:21child die
8:32that was just something that I had to do
8:36uh once I started with M Tero I knew I
8:39had to do all I had to do all four of
8:41them uh it's like an execution once you
8:44started there was Witnesses you had to
8:46do it all the way around with the otos
8:48dead Raider went about cleaning up after
8:50himself in the process taking Joseph's
8:53watch and radio with him as he exited
8:55the front door got in their car and
8:58drove it less than than a mile down the
9:00road to what was then Dylan's
9:02Supermarket parking the car exactly here
9:04and walking back to his
9:06own on the way he realized he was
9:09missing his knife and had to drive back
9:11to the ottero home and retrieve
9:15it but through all his watching Raider
9:18was not even aware that oos had three
9:20other children or all at school
9:22already according to various reports
9:25either all of them or just 15-year-old
9:28Charlie ooto would arrive drive home to
9:30find the
9:31bodies discovering the home phone didn't
9:34work he ran two houses down to where
9:36Dell Johnson was shoveling his driveway
9:38asking him to call
9:50police Witnesses reported seeing a dark
9:52complexion young man prowling outside
9:54the home this sketch being released of
9:57the suspect
10:00police stated that the murder showed
10:02similarities to two other recent
10:04criminal activity in the area but did
10:06not
10:07elaborate however they did say they were
10:09looking into the shooting of 26-year-old
10:11Michael Williams who was shot by two
10:13Caucasian men at his home 3 days
10:18earlier Williams had been a cooworker of
10:20juliao when she worked at Coleman having
10:23been laid off 2 weeks previously a
10:26secret Witness Program was launched with
10:28a reward of 5,00 ,000 for information
10:30leading to the killer or Killer's
10:34arrest as what would become known as one
10:37of the most intense investigations in
10:39witch O's history when on local channel

10:44film The Boston Strangler from its
10:46scheduled showing the week following the
10:50murders on the other side of the coin

11:06otero's background as their main lead
11:08believing the motive stemming from a
11:10grudge over Joseph's history of
11:11reselling items back at their homeland
11:13of Puerto
11:15Rico then on March 25th that year
11:18another family Massacre happened in
11:20Portland
11:21Oregon a woman was approaching the home
11:23of Howard and Arlene weeks when she
11:25noticed Arlene on the floor in the
11:27living room she bound and
11:30gagged the Week's family would watch her
11:33two young boys while she worked police
11:35would discover all four inside tied up
11:38and then killed with a
11:40hammer investigators collaborated
11:42between the two states but 9 days later
11:44Colin Hawkings would be arrested for the
11:46Portland murders and cleared in the
11:48ottero
11:51ones the investigation would continue on
11:53in the crimes but newspapers moved
11:56on so too had Dennis
12:01in April he had selected project lights
12:03out a 21-year-old college student named
12:06Katherine
12:08brigh on April 4th 1974 he entered the
12:11house she was renting formly located
12:14here at 327 East 13th Street just a mile
12:18and a half Northwest of the ooto
12:22home when Catherine returned home Dennis
12:24was surprised she was with her
12:2519-year-old brother Kevin he managed to
12:29subdue the pair with the same rot he
12:31told the oos assuring them he had only
12:33wanted to take their car and
12:36money he would tie up the pair in
12:38different bedrooms and then began to
12:40strangle Kevin during this Kevin managed
12:43to break free of his ropes and the pair
12:44struggled before Dennis shot
12:47him he then went and strangled Catherine
12:49but before he could kill her he heard
12:51Kevin moving and went back to finish him
12:54off Kevin managed to fight yet again and
12:57grabbed Dennis's second gun and a
12:59shoulder holster but Dennis managed to
13:01jam it with his finger before using his
13:03other gun to shoot him in the
13:05head knowing he could not continue to
13:08strangle Catherine he would use a knife
13:10to stab her three
13:14times meanwhile Kevin had managed to
13:17survive and miraculously fled the house
13:19and ran down the
13:24street Dennis would quickly clean up but
13:27was forced to walk back to his own
13:28vehicle vehicle parked North in
13:30Fairmount Park when he could not get
13:32either of the Bright's cars to
13:35start just a block south of the WSU
13:38campus Dennis had left his car parked
13:41here to keep it out of
13:45sight Catherine we rushed to the
13:47hospital but died from her wounds just a
13:49few hours
13:53later his failure would leave Raider
13:56frightened from committing more acts but
13:58in a October that year after three men
14:00were arrested as suspects in the ottero
14:02case he would break his

14:08silence on October 22nd Don Granger from
14:11the witch do yiel newspaper received a
14:13phone call from a young man telling him
14:15a letter from the real killer of the OS
14:18could be found inside a mechanical
14:19engineering book in the main branch of

14:36said one month later Dennis would be

14:52again he would park in this lot in the
14:55Lynnwood neighborhood at which time was
14:57a Dylan supermarket and watch at home
14:59across the street waiting for project
15:02green a woman named Cheryl that he had
15:04met at a
15:06bar after learning she wasn't home he
15:09began to walk south on hydraulic Street
15:11when he spotted 5-year-old Steve rord
15:14walking home after purchasing some soup
15:16for his mother who was
15:22sick Raider followed the boy one block
15:25down to his home claiming he checked on
15:27one other house before approaching 1311
15:29South Hydraulic Avenue and knocking on
15:31the
15:33door Steve and his two siblings answered
15:36that door and Dennis pretended to be a
15:38private detective showing a photo of his
15:40own family before bursting in and
15:42pulling out his
15:46gun as he pulled the blinds down
15:4926-year-old Shirley vianne rord came out
15:52to see what the commotion
15:54was Raider attempted to tie the children
15:57up but could not so he locked them in
15:59the bathroom by tying a Rog to the door
16:01and threw some toys inside with them
16:03before blocking the other door with the
16:07bed he next took Shirley to the bedroom
16:10informing her he only wanted to have his
16:11way with her as he was tying her up the
16:15frightened mother who loved to sing in
16:16her church choir threw up Fain in
16:20compassion Dennis got her a glass of
16:22water before putting a plastic bag on
16:24her head and tying a rope around her
16:26neck
16:32he intended to murder the children as
16:33well but they were screaming so loudly
16:35that he was frightened packing his hit
16:37kit back up and returning to his vehicle
16:40leaving seen on a pair of panties beside
16:42the
16:47body police would travel in New Mexico
16:50to question her ex-husband in the crime
16:52but had nothing to hold on him
17:04it was not long before he found his next
17:06project 25-year-old Nancy fox walking
17:09into her home at 843 South persing
17:12Street in the hilltop neighborhood just
17:14across the highway from Lynwood after
17:17spending several weeks stalking her he
17:19struck on the night of December 8th
17:231977 Nancy lived alone in this duplex
17:26working two jobs as secretary for a law
17:29firm and jewelry store and was not home
17:31when he knocked on the door so Raider
17:33went around back broke a window and
17:35waited in the
17:39kitchen when she arrived home he
17:41confronted her saying the same thing he
17:43told to shley that he had a sexual
17:45problem and would let her live
17:48afterwards though she would accost him
17:50she complied with his demands smoking a
17:53cigarette and then going to the bathroom
17:54and disrobing allowing Dennis to
17:57handcuff her around the bed before
17:58standing
17:59all right let's get this over with so I
18:01can call the police but Raider never
18:03intended to let that happen once the
18:06Cuffs run he told her he had done the
18:08Otero murders before strangling her with
18:10his
18:14belt afterwards he would remove the
18:16handcuffs and tie her arms and legs with
18:18panty hose before masturbating over the
18:21body this murder so excited him he
18:24couldn't wait for the body to be found
18:26and the next day he parked his work
18:28truck at this plaza near Oldtown and
18:30phone police had a public telephone
18:32formerly located

19:11appears to been strangled this time that
19:14was kind of that was kind of an impulse
19:16and really a really stupid thing to do
19:18because uh they I left my voice pattern
19:21and my voice on there a witness would
19:24report seeing a work vehicle and a
19:25middle-aged white male on the phone
19:27booth at the top time but police were
19:29spread so thin it was 3 days before they
19:32could interview her and she could not
19:34remember the simple letters on the
19:36vehicle a composite sketch of that man
19:38was believed to be the same as a man who
19:40kidnapped a woman on January 1st the
19:42next
19:44year she managed to escape from that man
19:47after he claimed he' killed both Nancy
19:49Fox and 21-year-old Denise Roth bun on
19:51November 26th the previous year La
19:54returned to Denise later in the episode
19:56after a number of other similar unsolved
19:58murders that may be
20:00linked shortly after the composite came
20:03out a poem titled Shirley locks arrived
20:06to the local newspaper but would be
20:09ignored a few weeks later he would then
20:12send a letter to KKTV claiming
20:14responsibility for all seven
20:19murders upset that his earlier moniker
20:21hadn't caught on nor had the killings
20:23been linked he yet again suggested his
20:26name as BTK and included another very
20:28poorly written
20:41poem finally he got the attention he
20:43craved which. ped decided to announce a
20:46serial killer was hunting in the
20:52city and now tv10 news with Jack Hicks
20:56good afternoon this morning cake tv was
20:58contact acted by the person who police
20:59say they believe murdered four members
21:01of the Joseph Otero family in January of
21:041974 the communication came in the form
21:07of a two-page typewritten letter
21:09addressed to K ke Channel 10 it was
21:11signed with the initials BTK but with us
21:14right now is Chief of Police Richard Lon
21:16I have a couple of questions Chief how
21:18can you be sure that the BTK letter is
21:21authentic onon after reviewing the
21:23contents of the letters absolutely no
21:25question that the only person who would
21:28have the type of information that was
21:31included in the letter would have to be
21:32the killer himself do you know what the
21:35the initials BTK stand for yes it's our
21:38feeling that the initials that uh were
21:41placed there stand for bind torture and
21:44kill do you see any pattern to btk's
21:48conduct we have an individual who
21:50apparently has
21:54the uncontrollable desire to kill at
21:57times BTK is has killed seven people
22:00Chief what kind of leads do you have
22:03very honestly we have no solid leads at
22:06all we have absolutely nothing that will
22:08point us to any one particular
22:14individual a fear spread upon arriving
22:17home women would check to make sure
22:19their phones hadn't been cut home
22:21security system purchases
22:25skyrocketed it was April 28th 197 9 when
22:29BTK decided to strike
22:34again less than 2 weeks after the
22:37notorious Herman Hill Riot Dennis would
22:39break into the home of 63-year-old Anna
22:41Williams who lived at 615 South Pine
22:44Crest just blocks away from Nancy Fox's

22:49home he would hide in her bedroom closet
22:51waiting several hours but Anna had gone
22:54to a square dance with her granddaughter
22:56and afterwards paid a visit to her
22:57daughter's house
23:00when she returned back to her own home
23:02Anna discovered her room in disarray and
23:05some jewelry missing when she picked up
23:07the phone to discover it dead she
23:09immediately fled her
23:10house when police found nodded brokes
23:13left in her closet the grandmother would
23:15learn just how close she'd come to
23:17becoming victim number

23:21eight on June 15th a manila envelope was
23:25delivered to her home from their burglar
23:29in another poorly written poem he
23:31lamented the fact she did not return
23:34home but then BTK went

23:42silent is it safe to say that there are
23:46at least a few lucky people out there
23:48there's a lot of lucky people out there
23:50who you didn't kill that you had didn't
23:52make the house they come home or for
23:54some reason I didn't go there's a lot of
23:56lucky people out there yes there have
23:58been more more but probably if I would
24:01have succeeded him you're almost
24:03guarantee
24:09it the 1978 murder of Mary and oi was

25:40aspirin instead he drove to a bowling
25:43alley purposely spilled beer on himself
25:46and then called the cab pretending to be
25:48drunk he had the driver drop him off at
25:51the Jardine Memorial Park just north of
25:53his neighborhood on the pretense he was
25:55going to walk it off
25:58instead he crept around back of the
26:00Hedge property and spotted her car when
26:03he broke in however he found she was not
26:05home and laid in
26:08weit before long Marine returned with a
26:11male companion who would eventually
26:12leave around 1:00
26:14a.m. when the woman fell asleep he crept
26:17out threw on the bathroom light and
26:19pounced strangling her with his bare
26:23hands he then wrapped her body in the
26:25bedspread and placed her in the trunk of
26:27her car and drove it to the Christ
26:29Lutheran Church which is across the road
26:31from his old high school and where
26:32Dennis head keys to the building as a
26:34council
26:38member the current church building was
26:40constructed in 1997 after the former
26:43building was demolished the previous
26:45year and it was in the basement of that
26:47building where Dennis would tape sheets
26:49over the windows and proceed to
26:51photograph Marine's body in various
26:53bondage poses
26:58losing track of time in his fantasy
27:00Raider was scared when he noticed it was
27:02almost daylight so we quickly cleaned up
27:04and put Marine back in her car and drove
27:06East on 53rd for about 4 miles before
27:09arriving around here placing the body in
27:12the northern ditch and covering it with
27:14some
27:18brush in the years since this road has
27:21greatly changed as where houses have
27:22spread to the area but back then it was
27:24unpaved had trees on both sides and was

27:55open 5 days later the car was found
27:59one day after that her purse was
28:01discovered and an air surch was
28:06planned two days after that police would
28:08sought a foot sticking out from the
28:10brush and find a decomposing body they
28:12would eventually confirm to be Marine
28:16hedge the FBI developed a profile on the
28:19killer stating he was likely an
28:21unmarried looner with the high school
28:24education was not linked to the previous
28:26decades BTK murders
28:40it was August the following year when he
28:42chose 28-year-old Vicky werly is another
28:47project for weeks he would walk past
28:49your home at 2404 West 13th Street North
28:53in the Indian Hill section of Western
28:55witcha and listen as the married mother
28:57of two would play the

29:02piano September 16th 1986 Dennis raer
29:06knocked on the front door wearing a
29:07telephone repairment outfit and

29:19bedroom and tried to subdue her but
29:21Vicki would fight back until he
29:23eventually managed to tie her up and
29:24then strangle her to death with a pair
29:26of panty hoes on the bedroom floor
29:33the family's dogs were in the backyard
29:35and barking loudly so Raider would
29:37quickly pull her shirt up snap several
29:40Polaroids and then took her car driving
29:43just two blocks west and leaving the car
29:45here on Edward's
29:47Court in that short drive Vicki's
29:50husband had passed the car as he was
29:52coming home for lunch he couldn't make
29:54out who was behind the wheel but knew it
29:56wasn't Vicki when when he returned home
29:58he saw their son unharmed in the living
30:00room and then founded his wife she was
30:03rushed in the hospital but would never
30:06recover by the time police got to Vicky
30:09werley's House on West 13th her heart
30:11had already stopped beating she died
30:13within 15 minutes at Riverside Hospital
30:16her husband Bill supposedly found Vicki
30:18with a noose around her neck her
30:202-year-old son Brandon was playing in
30:22another bedroom at the time of the
30:26murder Bill wagger Le would fail two
30:28polygraph tests and would remain the
30:30primary suspect in his wife's murder
30:32until btk's
30:38capture just a few months later Philip
30:41fager and his two daughters were found
30:42murdered in their home which is almost
30:44on the direct opposite side of the city
30:46from the waggly

30:51house someone has shot Philip twice in
30:54the back as he entered the house and
30:56then taken his 9 and 16 y- old daughters
30:58into the basement wrapped electrical
31:00tape around one or both of their throats
31:03and then dumped them in the hot tub Sean
31:05was found floating the
31:07water a contractor who worked for the
31:10family Bill Butterworth would be
31:12arrested when he was seen driving their
31:13car and using the credit card but
31:15eventually
31:17acquitted the surviving wife would
31:19receive a letter from BTK early in the
31:22next year claming he was impressed with
31:24whoever had killed the family including
31:26a drawing of how he imagine the crime
31:28occur though it is not accurate at
31:32all that same year Dennis was fired from
31:35ADT for not filling his quota he would
31:38also get two restraining orders from
31:40women over the next few years that he
31:41had
31:43stalled six other stranglings in 1987
31:46would be compared including the fagers
31:48but police stated all but vickys had
31:51been found or placed in water during the
31:54murders 4 years later James Cromwell
31:57would be convicted on one of those
31:58murders that of 6-year-old Ernestine
32:01hoist as well as the 1991 murder of
32:03Isabelle
32:05Moore that same year cronal was
32:07convicted Dennis would start up his next
32:10project 62-year-old Dolores Davis who
32:13lived on the outskirts of town at a home
32:15on North Hillside Street formerly
32:17located
32:21here Dolores was a divorced mother of
32:23two who had just retired and worked as a
32:25Mary Kay cosmetic consultant on the side
32:28side he would nickname her project dog
32:31side after the kennel that still
32:32operates inside the
32:38home on January 19th that year under the
32:41guise of going on a Boy Scout trip
32:43Dennis would park at his church and walk
32:452 miles to
32:49home having cased it several times he
32:52could find no way of getting in
32:53unnoticed so he threw a cinder block
32:55through the glass patio door and came
33:01inside again he used the lie that he was
33:04only a Robert to get her to calm down
33:05and let him tie up before strangling her
33:08with a par of
33:12Panos he would then drive her body in
33:15her car to this small wooded area one
33:17mile directly south of his church and
33:19dump her there before returning to the
33:21home and leaving the
33:24car at this point he realized he had
33:26dropped one of his guns where he smashed
33:28the window and had to look for it before
33:30hiking back to his own
33:38car next he would return for the body
33:41where he would then drive it almost 10
33:42miles north to the jester Creek Bridge
33:45placing Dolores underneath before going
33:47back to his boy scout
33:54event the next day he would return and
33:57pose the body for photographs using his
33:59mask which he left lying beside
34:08her the current Bridge was one of
34:10multiple in the era rebuilt later that
34:12year but underneath there still wooden
34:14pillars of the original Bridge which
34:16Dolores laid next
34:19to one week after the murder the bloody
34:22bed sheets were found at the first dump
34:23site
34:24location but would not be until February
34:271st when a boy chasing after his dog
34:29would discover the bloated decomposing
34:31body underneath the
34:40bridge it would take two days to
34:43identify it as Dolores via dental
34:46records the community would recall the
34:48still unsolved murder of marine hch
34:51noting that whoever did the murders had
34:53to have meticulously stopped them
34:56before police refused to comment on any
34:59similarity but dolores's son a police
35:01officer would disagree hiring a private
35:04investigator and putting up $10,000
35:06reward for
35:08information he would also camp out at
35:10the bridge on the anniversary of her
35:11murder to see if the killer would
35:17return 6 months after the murder he
35:19received a letter later confirmed to be
35:21from Dennis that stated Vicky werley's
35:23murder was connected and that a cult had
35:25done them
35:28witch's Panic continued to spread after
35:30Isabelle Moore was found a month later
35:32and then on April 11th the bodies of
35:34Mildred and chanet McDow were found shot
35:37to death in their
35:38home once previously their garage door
35:41had been found tampered with and the
35:43home was burglarized a second time 2
35:46weeks later 55-year-old landlord Donna
35:49Baker was found stabbed to death in her
35:51apartment it would take less than a week
35:53to identify her Killers as her tenants
35:55aen and Sher Kingsley
35:58almost a year after the McDow murders
36:00Delbert Hyman would be convicted of that
36:03crime in 1996 following his release of a
36:06book about dealing with his mother's
36:08murder Jeff Davis would receive a second
36:10letter again stating a cult was behind
36:12the murders and this time adding Marine
36:15hedge as a victim of
36:16them in his book he stated he had no
36:19hopes his mother's killer would be
36:21caught and after having his fun the man
36:23man was likely long
36:25gone little did he know know the killer
36:28lived just 1 and 1/2 miles
36:31away 4 months after her murder Dennis
36:33Raider had been hired by Park City as a
36:35dog catcher and code enforcement officer
36:38we've been tracking it down the dogs are
36:40somewhat territorial as well as vicious
36:42this newfound power seems to have been
36:44enough for the agent killer who now
36:46could legally torment citizens of Park
36:48City seeming to focus on single women in
36:53particular in one instance he had a
36:55family dog put down before they could
36:56claim the pet
36:58shelter in another he repeatedly
37:00harassed one woman when her boyfriend
37:02moved in with her implying that he would
37:04stop if the man
37:06moved one female employee of his made
37:09three separate complaints against Raider
37:11but they went ignored he would measure
37:13the height of people's grass finding
37:15them if it was too
37:17long in 2003 his daughter would marry
37:20and move to Michigan and his son would
37:22join the Navy the Raiders found
37:25themselves empty nesters with free time
37:26on their hands again again and that is
37:29when BTK
37:31reemerged on the 30th anniversary of
37:34though terot murders a retrospective was
37:36printed that announced a book was being
37:38written by The Forgotten killer who was
37:39believed to have either died or been
37:41institutionalized after its last known
37:43letter in
37:461979 on March 19th the witchel newspaper
37:50would receive a letter from a fictitious
37:52name with initials
37:53BTK inside was a copy of Vicky werley's
37:56missing driver's license as well as
37:59photographs of her
38:01body the FBI would confirm the letter as
38:04being written by
38:07BTK suddenly newspapers and online
38:10forums were a wash in BTK
38:13news this is him coming out after 30
38:16years and saying I'm not as famous as
38:18Ted Bundy I'm not as famous as the
38:20Hillside Strangler I want my 15 Minutes
38:23of Shame 15 minutes of infamy and he is
38:26absolutely tortured in this community
38:29and absolutely breaking the hearts of
38:30the victim's families the investigation
38:33was renewed with
38:38fervor on March 5th cake tv would
38:41receive a second letter inside was a
38:44suggestion for chapter titles on the BTK
38:47story several fake IDs and a long word
38:50puzzle claimed to have the killer's name
38:55inside June 9th a pack AG was discovered
38:58taped to this stop sign at first in
39:00Kansas
39:01roads inside was a graphic description
39:04of how he murdered the Otero family
39:06along with a sketch of a bound woman and
39:08yet another chapter suggestion list for
39:10the be gate
39:12story on July 17th a package was found
39:15in the Dropbox of the Central Library
39:17where he left his first letter inside a
39:19book some three decades prior inside was
39:23perhaps the most frightening letter
39:25today I F a female that I think lives
39:29alone and or is a sped l k k just got to
39:35work out the
39:36details I'm much older now and have to
39:41condition myself
39:43carefully also my thinking processes
39:46aren as sharp as it used to be I think
39:50all our winter would be just about right
39:54through the hit got to do it this year
39:57or next time is running out for
40:02me since last March BTK has sent
40:05numerous Communications to the media and
40:08the police in these letters he has
40:11provided certain background information
40:13about himself which he claims is
40:17accurate he also claimed responsibility
40:20for the death of Jake alen in argonia
40:22Kansas just 12 days prior but his claims
40:25would be proven false
40:28regardless after this letter police
40:30decided to withhold contents of btk's
40:32Correspondence to the public for fear he
40:35would follow through on his acts little
40:37did they know he already had a
40:40plan it was October 22nd that year when
40:43he left his next package inside UPS
40:45dropbox at what was then the Omni Center
40:48just a block up from where the June 9th
40:49letter was
40:51taped inside was a collection of more
40:53disturbing drawings along with a fake
40:55autobiography of who the kill
40:58was directly after he made that drop BTK
41:02had gone to the home of project
41:04Broadwater a woman he had been
41:07stalking thankfully upon his arrival he
41:10discovered a road crew had been working
41:12on front and plan to retry in the spring
41:14or fall of the next
41:16year on December 1st police would raid
41:19the home of Roger Valadez focusing on
41:22him using the information a the
41:23biography but DNA testing would
41:25eliminate him as BTK
41:292 weeks later on December 14th a man
41:31walking through Murdoch Park found a
41:33garbage bag Bound by rumber bands he
41:36would open it to find the driver's
41:37license of Nancy Fox along with the
41:39Barbie doll that had been bound like his
41:42victims kfdi the FBI is now checking out
41:45a package that was found in a Witchita
41:49Park on January 8th of following year
41:52after he become the president of his
41:53church Dennis would throw a cereal box
41:55into the truck bed of an employee at
41:57this Home Depot in Conwood Village
41:59Northeast of the
42:01city when the truck driver arrived home
42:03that night he assumed it to be garbage
42:05and simply threw it
42:09away on January 25th cake tv would
42:12receive a postcard giving the location
42:14of another drop that being against this
42:16road curve sign north of the city on
42:19senica Street
42:28inside would be another Barbie doll tied
42:30to a
42:33pipe BTA also wondered if they had found
42:36his last correspondence he left at the
42:37Home Depot on North Wood
42:42law police would put flyers up at the
42:45store asking anyone who saw it to come
42:47forward and that employee did by pure
42:51luck he still had it as he forgot to put
42:53his trash can out that week
43:00surveillance footage was able to see the
43:02man drive into the back of the lot walk
43:05up and toss the package into the
43:12truck inside was a letter asking if BTK
43:15could communicate via floppy disc
43:16without being
43:17traced police were to leave an answer in
43:20the miscellaneous section of the
43:21newspaper they lied and said yes
43:27on February 16th ksas TV studio received
43:30a manila envelope with a floppy disc and
43:34jewelry police were able to scan it and
43:37found deleted documents with the words
43:39Christ Lutheran Church and last edited
43:41by someone named
43:44Dennis the Home Depot surveillance
43:46footage showed the killer had a black
43:48Jeep Cherokee Dennis Raider the
43:50president of Christ Lutheran drove a
43:52black
43:53Cherokee DNA from his daughter's
43:56papsmear was obtained tested it was a
43:58familiar old match to DNA found
44:00underneath Vicky werley's
44:02fingernails 9 days after the floppy disc
44:04arrived police would follow Dennis on
44:07his way home for launch pulling him over
44:09just around the corner from his house I
44:11saw this whole line of police cars
44:13thought oh that's not good and it was
44:16just they were right on me just that
44:18quick I thought maybe maybe it's a
44:20traffic stop or something soon as I one
44:22them was behind me with the red lights
44:23and Sirens I knew that was it ARR me y
44:26they got car they pull the guns on me
44:28told me lay down and I sprawled out and
44:31they grabbed me real quick like of
44:32handcuffs and stuck me in a car from Mr
44:35raer do you know why you're going
44:36downtown and I said I have suspicions
44:38why tonight a possible break CNN
44:41affiliate K reports a person of interest
44:44in custody for questioning tonight a
44:46search of the uh person's home being
44:49conducted as we speak this is a live
44:51search of what's going down Nancy I
44:54think they've got him remember back in
44:56December they had the wrong
44:59person in custody Dennis would confess
45:02to the seven known BTK murderers as well
45:04as finally admitting to Katherine brgh
45:06Marine hedge and Dolores

45:27the a press conference and the city call
45:30EXC me city council chambers at City
45:32Hall concluded yesterday
45:35afternoon Agents from the kbi agents
45:39from the FBI members of the witto police
45:41department arrested Dennis Raider the
45:45bottom line BTK is
45:50arrested on August 18th after pleading
45:53guilty he would be given 10 life
45:55sentences and committed to the El Dorado
45:58Correctional Facility to serve a term of
46:00life for which you will not be Pro
46:02eligible until the expiration of 40
46:07years his wife would divorce him and
46:09sell their home to Park City who
46:11demolished it in
46:122007 ironically a trail on the back
46:14leads past the edge property and onto
46:16Jardine
46:18Park the pavement section is where a
46:20metal shed that was Dennis's Hideout was
46:23located inside police found women's
46:26stockings and his pooid collection
46:28called his mother
46:29load along with photos of his victims
46:32was a collection of bizarre bondage
46:38photography using a cordage shutter
46:40release Raider would go into either
46:43motels or the woods near his home and
46:45take self-portraits as his own
46:47victims sometimes wearing clothing items
46:50of
46:53theirs in 2023 a section of the sidewalk
46:57was removed to uncover a hidden
46:58compartment with additional trophies and
47:01items it was some of these items that
47:04led police to renew their interest in
47:05further victims of BTK and now there is
47:08new evidence that may connect the
47:10infamous BTK serial killer to additional
47:13murders arjin casares spoke to the
47:15Killer's daughter and got exclusive
47:17access to some of his diary entries and
47:20drawings it was parts of this journal
47:23belonging to BTK real named Dennis
47:26Raider shared exclusively with CNN that
47:29prompted law enforcement in Oklahoma to
47:32act for the first time law enforcement
47:35is revealing detailed drawings made by
47:38Raider showing young girls tied and
47:41bound in Barns Our Hope was to get these
47:46drawings out in hopes that someone will
47:50recognize these barns since his arrest
47:53police and webs Luther have speculated
47:55on if there were more victims
47:57detectives from the showning states all
47:59looked into unsolved crimes but were
48:00unable to prove he was responsible why
48:02aren there why AR there more it seemed
48:05like as I got older uh I started making
48:09well physically I was just wasn't up to
48:11it um I knew like had to fight with
48:14somebody you'd have to be an older
48:15person cuz just I be just winded or
48:18wouldn't be able to fight
48:20physically uh I don't know uh I think it
48:23was just starting to mellow out a little
48:25bit
48:26he had made a 30-hour long confession
48:29once his lawyers arrived they made
48:31Dennis stop talking since then he's
48:33refused to start again even at the
48:36behest of his own
48:37daughter five cases were selected by
48:40detectives to follow up
48:42on but while researching I would find a
48:45startling number of other cold cases
48:46around which tall that have been
48:48mentioned is related but looking into
48:50those cases I would discover that though
48:52there were some similarities to BTK
48:55there are even more similarities between
48:57those murders on their
48:58own did witch and I have one or more
49:00other serial killers operating at the
49:02same time to learn more about those
49:05check out our witch do Secret serial
49:07killer video that has a link at the end
49:09of this
49:10one but for now we'll look at the cases
49:13more directly tied with BTK that
49:15investigators have
49:18mentioned on June 23rd 1976 16-year-old
49:22Cynthia Kenny disappeared from Mage
49:24laundry in po Huska Oklahoma
49:27her purse a drink and halfe donut were
49:30left
49:32inside shortly after a man phon police
49:35telling them her body was located in a
49:37barn but has never been
49:39found detectives ascertained ADT was
49:42scheduled to install alarms in a bank
49:44across the street at this time but could
49:46not tell if Raider had been the one
49:48working in his journals under 1977 he
49:51had a project listed as bad wash day he
49:55would write that laats were a good place
49:57to watch victims the Kenny case would be
49:59the most profiled suspected case in 2023
50:02but will later be determined to as being
50:04used as a pod in the local sheriff's
50:06re-election campaign and there was no
50:08substantial evidence to link
50:11Raider on November 26th 1977 26-year-old
50:15mother of two Denise morun was last seen
50:18leaving a laundromat here and to her
50:20home at 5332 East Pine about two blocks
50:24away from the former Otero family
50:29home on December 12th that year a hunter
50:32would find her body in a creek bed about
50:349 miles north of Park city underneath a
50:36bridge 3 and 1 half miles Northeast of
50:39the jester bridge where Dolores Davis
50:41would be
50:42dumped an autopsy would reveal she had
50:45died from exposure or possibly
50:48drowning in 1978 police stated that they
50:51were looking at the Rath bun murder as
50:53being connected to the BTK killer after
50:55the unknown man claimed he killed both
50:57Nancy Fox and Denise Rathbun when he
50:59abducted another
51:01woman almost exactly 2 years later on
51:04December 7th 20-year-old Tamara Taylor
51:06left her home at 2313 South
51:11fuia on December 20th a farmer passing a
51:14ditch about a mile north of Wrath Bun's
51:16dumpsite spotted Tamara in a ditch with
51:18a rope around her neck she had not been
51:21sexually assaulted and had exposure
51:23wounds but died via
51:25strangulation the the autopsy revealed
51:27she had been 8 weeks
51:29pregnant in 1980 police arrested David
51:33and Donna Courtney for her murder after
51:35they found a letter confessing to the
51:37crime along with a murder in New Orleans
51:39and two in
51:41Houston David had plan to take his own
51:43life before it was
51:45[Music]
51:47found on New Year's Day 1983 56-year-old
51:51valdia wage was found in the alleyway
51:53behind a warehouse on Santa Fe directly
51:56across the street from where BTK made
51:58his phone call to police about Nancy Fox
52:015 years
52:03prior she had not been sexually
52:05assaulted but her purse was stolen it
52:08was believed a robe had been used to
52:10strangle
52:12her half a year later someone sent a
52:14letter to her former employer asking for
52:17her money to be withdrawn and sent to a
52:19specific address forging valdia
52:22signature on
52:23it on October 21st 1983 three
52:2731-year-old Mary Lang would vanish after
52:29leaving the attorney's office she worked
52:31at to run an errand in Hayes Kansas a
52:34small City Less Than 3 hours Northwest
52:36of
52:37witch a search was launched and 5 days
52:40later her jacket and car keys were found
52:43along the Saline River Northwest of town
52:46it was noted at the time of her
52:47disappearance someone had been making
52:49threatening phone calls to
52:51her in 2023 Lang would be investigated
52:54as a BTK victim due to a reference to
52:57project Prairie under the 1983 year in
53:00his diary but another killer is also a
53:02person of interest in L's
53:05Disappearance in 1979 Steven holdren
53:08would be arrested for the 1977 murder of
53:11Sharon leading who had been strangled
53:13before being shot in the
53:15head before her murder Holden had been
53:18charged with making obscene phone calls
53:20to the woman but he would be found not
53:22guilty in the
53:24murder in 1984 he would break into the
53:27Hayes apartment of Jacqueline Peters and
53:29shoot her in the chest police surrounded
53:32the building and arrested
53:36him on November 5th
53:381985 34-year-old Catherine B's mother
53:42would find the woman hanging in the
53:43basement of her home at the corner of
53:45Edgemore
53:47Street Catherine and her husband had
53:49made national news 2 years prior when
53:51they pleaded for liver transplants for
53:53their two young daughters who had rare
53:55genetic disorders
53:57one of the girls would sadly pass away
53:59after the operation while her other
54:01daughter would successfully have hers in
54:041984 it is said that her family refused
54:07to believe Cathy would take her own life
54:09just two days after her surviving
54:11child's
54:12birthday but what earns this reason to
54:14be looked into is the Border home is
54:16less than a mile up the same road as
54:18where Josephine oo would lose her life
54:21as she was hung in the basement 9 years
54:24prior 22-year-old Shauna Garber would be
54:27the second cold face named as being
54:28looked at as connected to Dennis Raider
54:31her body had not been identified until
54:332021 giving police the full story on her
54:37murder on December 2nd 1990 her skeleton
54:41was found inside an abandoned barn on
54:43Tally Road in
54:45Missouri the body was never identified
54:47and named Grace do until DNA would match
54:50the body as
54:51shaunas a total of six different types
54:54of cords have been used to bind her
54:57then in 2024 they would identify taly
55:00Reeves as her likely killer who picked
55:03her up while hitchhiking hog tied her
55:05sexually assaulted her and finally ended
55:07her life via drug
55:10overdose six different Witnesses who had
55:12been too afraid to talk would
55:14corroborate his guilt after he passed
55:16away in November
55:212021 on September 12th 1996 art Fox left
55:25for work in the morning leaving his
55:2616-year-old daughter Sherry home at
55:29their home in 2150 North Meridian less
55:32than a mile directly north of Vicky
55:34werley's home the pair had moved here
55:37less than a year ago from Phoenix
55:39Arizona to escape the gang violence they
55:41had experienced in that
55:43City when Ark came back home less than 3
55:46hours later he discovered his daughter
55:48dead from two gunshot wounds to the head
55:50on his
55:55back and after not coming to her job as
55:57a nurse 22-year-old Tina Frederick's
56:00apartment manager would enter her
56:01apartment 137 at 888 South Hydraulic
56:05just two blocks north of where BTK
56:08parked when he murdered Shirley
56:12vianne inside the woman discovered Tina
56:14dead of a gunshot on the floor beside
56:16her bed on November 12th
56:201999 Tina was known to leave her front
56:23door open to let fresh air in her case
56:26was one that was noted as being looked
56:27at by the writer of the 2004 BTK
56:31book however 6 months prior to Raiders
56:34arrest police would solve Frederick's
56:36murder after linking the bullets with
56:38the murder of Christopher par that same
56:40year aaz Alfred had been arrested in
56:44that crime and was found guilty on
56:45Tina's murder in December
56:492004 on June 4th 2002 neighbors would
56:52notice that a previously boarded up
56:54basement window of this house lived in
56:56by Dorothy and James Slaughter had been
57:00opened upon further inspection the side
57:02door was found to be a jar police would
57:05enter to find the igly couple beaten
57:08unconscious their telephone cord had
57:10been cut and the only thing missing was
57:12a set of car
57:14keys Dorothy would die from her injuries
57:172 weeks later while James would
57:19eventually recover but lost his memory
57:21of the
57:23attack did Dennis Raider have additional
57:25vict victims unfortunately he has
57:28refused to help in the investigation and
57:30in the five cases mentioned in 2023
57:33detectives would later State they could
57:34find no
57:36ties could they be goting the notorious
57:39media hungry killer into confessing or
57:41is it all a false
57:43hunt Charlie Otero and Steve Vian would
57:46form a friendship following btk's arrest
57:49both of them bonding over having
57:51difficulties adjusting to society
57:53following their fam's
57:55murders Anna Williams would pass away
57:57before Dennis Raider was caught never
57:59knowing who broke into her
58:02home Roger valades would sue several
58:05media outlets for defamation claiming he
58:07was BTK after his arrest on December 1st
58:112004 he would win a $1.1 million verdict
58:15but died before he could collect
58:17it Dennis Raider's family all ceased
58:20contact with him following his arrest
58:23his wife was said to have PTSD from the
58:25day of the arrest and treats your
58:27ex-husband as if he is dead Brian Raider
58:30has also stayed out of the media only
58:32noted as going to college in 2016 after
58:35finishing his enlistment in the
58:38Navy Carrie Raider would eventually
58:41speak with her father in 2023 to see if
58:43she could convince him to confess to any
58:45more
58:46murders she would publish A Memoir of
58:48her life and has been an advocate for
58:50victims and family members of serial
58:53killers following her visit with her
58:56father she stated he had no teeth
58:58anymore was confined to a wheelchair and
59:00was seething that his hidden trophies
59:02had been
59:03found while the Man known as BTK rots in
59:06prison his legacy of Pain still extends
59:09to the family and friends of his many
59:11victims whose only comfort is that the
59:14killer can no longer troll the streets
59:16of witchta looking for more projects
