  19. 0:30You should not get in my face.
  20. 0:32Never has anyone been given a solo the day of the [bleep]

  22. 0:37You're out.
  23. 0:38You say that is not your seat, I want Kelly back,
  24. 0:41when she constantly runs out on this team.
  25. 0:43Payton, welcome to the team.
  26. 0:45I don't want that.
  27. 0:46[gasps] Bitch.
  28. 0:47ABBY LEE: Christi, you're out.
  29. 0:48Chloe is gone for this week.
  30. 0:49Leslie, you have to take Payton home.
  31. 0:51ANNOUNCER: And your highest scoring
  32. 0:53Elite Junior Small Group is "Home Again" from the Abby Lee
  33. 0:55Dance Company.
  34. 0:56ABBY LEE: Congratulations.
  35. 0:58Kendall, nipping at Maddie's heels.
  36. 1:01JILL: Woo-hoo!
  37. 1:02[cheering]
  38. 1:04ABBY LEE (VOICEOVER): Coming up on "Dance Moms"--
  39. 1:06ABBY LEE: I am holding open auditions
  40. 1:07in three major cities--
  41. 1:09Orlando, Atlanta, and New York.
  42. 1:12And you can bet I'm gonna find some talent.
  43. 1:16Everyone's replaceable.
  44. 1:18Maddie, if this team isn't gonna support you,
  45. 1:20I'll find people for you to dance with.
  46. 1:22Go forward and Chloe attacks you.
  47. 1:25JILL: Oh, no.
  48. 1:27ABBY LEE: Freedom in paradise.
  49. 1:29At the beach, like Kendall.
  50. 1:31Kendall should-- should have a solo.
  51. 1:32You don't think Payton has pressure?
  52. 1:34It has nothing to do with you!
  53. 1:35ABBY LEE: You have an opportunity here.
  54. 1:36Don't blow it, kiddo.
  55. 1:38Mackenzie, see what it looks like when you cry like a baby?
  56. 1:40[theme music] Get up.
  57. 1:41Get on the floor.
  58. 1:43My world is with my girls, living on the dance floor.
  59. 1:49Living on the dance floor.
  60. 1:55Living on the dance floor.
  61. 2:00[upbeat music]
  62. 2:08ABBY LEE: Come on, girls! Let's go!
  63. 2:09Let's go! Let's go!
  64. 2:10Get in here. Hustle up!
  65. 2:12Hustle up!
  66. 2:13New season, new year, new energy, come on.
  67. 2:15Yay!
  68. 2:15No moms!
  69. 2:17Woo!
  70. 2:18Ugh.
  71. 2:19No!
  72. 2:20Sorry, I'm here!
  73. 2:21ABBY LEE: The Abby Lee Dance Company is back.
  74. 2:24This is the beginning of a brand new season.
  75. 2:26I'm about to change the face of the Abby Lee Dance Company.
  76. 2:30Things are not going to be the same anymore.
  77. 2:33Congratulations to all of you that
  78. 2:35participated in "Home Again.
  79. 2:37You did it.
  80. 2:37You won.
  81. 2:38[applause]
  82. 2:40CHRISTI: It's really weird to be back with the team.
  83. 2:42Chloe and I weren't here for nationals.
  84. 2:44And, you know, life goes on without us.
  85. 2:45I really want this season to be different for Chloe.
  86. 2:48I really want to stay out of, like, all the mama drama.
  87. 2:51I want Chloe to focus on dance.
  88. 2:52And I want Abby to recognize that.
  89. 2:54This is the fourth year that the Abby Lee Dance Company's
  90. 2:57Elite Competition Team has been going out every single weekend.
  91. 3:03And it might not be the same kids too much longer.
  92. 3:06We have some that have other opportunities, others that
  93. 3:09can't follow the rules, people that are working diligently
  94. 3:12and improving faster than ever, and other people that
  95. 3:15are too lazy to take class.
  96. 3:17So something's got to give.
  97. 3:19Everyone's replaceable.
  98. 3:20I am holding open auditions in three major cities--
  99. 3:23Orlando, Atlanta, and New York.
  100. 3:27And you can bet I'm going to find some talent.
  101. 3:31KELLY: It's the first day back of a new dance season,
  102. 3:33and already Abby has blindsided us
  103. 3:35with her having auditions to replace everybody on the team.
  104. 3:39ABBY LEE: All right, girls, I'm gonna get right to the pyramid
  105. 3:42Chloe, you weren't there.
  106. 3:43I just wanted to say I'm sorry I let the team down,
  107. 3:45and I wish I could have been at nationals.
  108. 3:47But I know that wasn't what happened.
  109. 3:51But I just want to let you guys know
  110. 3:53that I'm going to be working really hard this season.
  111. 3:55And I-- it won't happen again.
  112. 3:56Good.
  113. 3:57Good to hear it.
  114. 3:58And next, Payton.
  115. 4:01You apologized.
  116. 4:03You worked your butt off.
  117. 4:04Let's see if you can stay out of trouble.
  118. 4:06CHRISTI: The fact that Payton is above Chloe on the pyramid
  119. 4:08is absolutely ridiculous.
  120. 4:10Leslie is here, when all she brings to the team is trouble,
  121. 4:14is annoying.
  122. 4:15Why doesn't she just pack up her bags and leave?
  123. 4:20ABBY LEE: Nia.
  124. 4:22I'm seeing this face on the bottom row
  125. 4:24and I'm thinking, that has to be a mistake.
  126. 4:27If there was a class, Nia was there.
  127. 4:29If there was Booty Camp, Nia was there.
  128. 4:31If there was a private to be had, Nia wanted it.
  129. 4:35I'll come back to you.
  130. 4:38And next we have Brooke.
  131. 4:41Can't get a ride to come to dance class?
  132. 4:43We missed one day because we were in New York for Fashion
  133. 4:45Week.
  134. 4:47She has been here every single day that we have had class.
  135. 4:49And next we have Paige.
  136. 4:52You know, for years we've said, when Paige is a teenager
  137. 4:56it's all gonna click and she's gonna be amazing.
  138. 4:58Well, sweetheart, you're almost a teenager.
  139. 5:03And next, Mackenzie.
  140. 5:06You were second.
  141. 5:09I'm sorry.
  142. 5:10I think Asia would have won.
  143. 5:12Asia pushed your buttons.
  144. 5:14She made you cry.
  145. 5:16She made you pout.
  146. 5:18Then sit, Kenzie.
  147. 5:19If you don't want to dance then sit.
  148. 5:22What happens when I send you to an audition in LA
  149. 5:24for something and they say improv?
  150. 5:27You're gonna make me look like a fool!
  151. 5:28But she made you better.
  152. 5:30She made you work harder.
  153. 5:33And Kendall-- oh, this is what's wrong.
  154. 5:45[suspenseful music]
  155. 5:52That's more like it.
  156. 5:59So Kendall comes in second--
  157. 6:01ABBY LEE: Kendall--
  158. 6:02--and comes in behind Paige and Nia,
  159. 6:05who didn't dance at nationals?
  160. 6:06Paige wasn't at Booty Camp.
  161. 6:07Excuse me, Nia did dance at nationals.
  162. 6:09Who didn't do a solo at nationals.
  163. 6:10HOLLY: But she did dance at nationals.
  164. 6:12ABBY LEE: Kendall has really disappointed me.
  165. 6:14She took five days off to go on vacation.
  166. 6:17But it was the exact same five days of Booty Camp, which
  167. 6:20is mandatory, which she knew about six months in advance.
  168. 6:24I think you're very disrespectful.
  169. 6:25Why is that disrespectful?
  170. 6:26ABBY LEE: You're disrespectful for not being here.
  171. 6:29Your kid gets a solo, she gets the opportunity,
  172. 6:31she's at national, she's doing this and she's doing that.
  173. 6:33Well, she earned the solo.
  174. 6:34And then, pfft, forget on you.
  175. 6:35She got it by default.
  176. 6:36Forget all about you.
  177. 6:37JILL: Nowhere did it say if you didn't attend Booty Camp
  178. 6:40everything you did at nationals is null and void.
  179. 6:43Kendall was second at nationals.
  180. 6:45ABBY LEE: And at the top of the pyramid,
  181. 6:48the reigning national winner, Maddie.
  182. 6:52[applause]
  183. 6:56ANNOUNCER: And you're highest scoring Elite Junior Soloist,
  184. 6:59Maddie, with act number 32, "Amazing Grace."
  185. 7:01[cheering]
  186. 7:06ABBY LEE: Now, this week we are traveling to Wheeling, West
  187. 7:11Virginia to attend Sheer Talent.
  188. 7:14Maddie, we have you doing a solo this week.
  189. 7:18CHRISTI: No big surprise that Maddie has a solo right out
  190. 7:20of the gates.
  191. 7:21But Melissa is sitting here smug as ever, because she knows,
  192. 7:24even though Abby is holding open auditions, she's safe.
  193. 7:27And my other solo, which you would think
  194. 7:29would probably go to Kendall, it's going to Nia.
  195. 7:37[cheering, applause]
  196. 7:43You have worked hard, so I'm rewarding you with this solo.
  197. 7:48JILL: I'm happy for Nia, but it really should
  198. 7:50have been Kendall's solo.
  199. 7:52Kendall had earned it, she deserved it,
  200. 7:54and now Abby's punishing her.
  201. 7:56ABBY LEE: I have a trio.
  202. 7:58Paige, you have to cut the mustard.
  203. 8:00Chloe, you're gonna bookend Paige,
  204. 8:03and you're both gonna back up Kendall.
  205. 8:05[applause]
  206. 8:08Everybody is in the group routine as of right now.
  207. 8:11The group routine is entitled "Girls Night Out."
  208. 8:14Payton, you think you're up for a fight?
  209. 8:18ABBY LEE: Interesting.
  210. 8:19All right.
  211. 8:20Moms, I'm gonna send you upstairs.
  212. 8:22The rest of you, you're gonna spread apart, shoes off.
  213. 8:25Grande plié in second, hands on both knees.
  214. 8:28Let's get started.
  215. 8:30Hello.
  216. 8:31How are you?
  217. 8:36ABBY LEE: Five, six, seven, eight--
  218. 8:39[upbeat music]
  219. 8:42ABBY LEE (VOICEOVER): The group routine
  220. 8:44is called "Girls Night Out."
  221. 8:45Stay out, Kendall!
  222. 8:47ABBY LEE: This routine is going to be a reenactment of Leslie
  223. 8:50and Christi's disgusting behavior last season
  224. 8:54in New Orleans.
  225. 8:55In my version, it's going to be Payton versus Chloe.
  226. 9:00I want Christi and Leslie to realize
  227. 9:03that they are an embarrassment to the Abby Lee Dance Company.
  228. 9:09Girls, we have days to learn this number,
  229. 9:11and you're on stage trying to defend your honor
  230. 9:14as the national overall high score winners.
  231. 9:16Maddie, I know that you want to go out on that stage
  232. 9:19and be amazing.
  233. 9:21And if this team isn't gonna support you and be amazing,
  234. 9:28I'll find people for you to dance with.
  235. 9:30Got it?
  236. 9:31All right, let's go.
  237. 9:33Can't we just have a nice start to the season?
  238. 9:36There's a sense of apprehension.
  239. 9:38Because when you add someone to the group, does that mean,
  240. 9:41someone has to be taken off the team?
  241. 9:43Well, how did you feel about the old switcheroo?
  242. 9:45That's to hurt me, but ultimately she's
  243. 9:47hurting Kendall.
  244. 9:49HOLLY: I did not like that Abby switched the photos of Kendall
  245. 9:51and Nia.
  246. 9:53I thought that was cruel to do that to another child.
  247. 9:54- It was. - Sure.
  248. 9:55I do think that was wrong to do that.
  249. 9:56But still--
  250. 9:57After she had just praised Kendall.
  251. 9:58I agree with that.
  252. 9:59But you threw Nia under the bus too.
  253. 10:01It was like, well, how does Nia get ahead of Kendall?
  254. 10:03I mean, you have-- you always kind of resort back to that.
  255. 10:06She was going through everybody's everything
  256. 10:08but not Kendall.
  257. 10:09And that's great. And I'm only asking--
  258. 10:10JILL: It's not great.
  259. 10:11And all I'm saying is, based on my experience
  260. 10:13as a mother, what Nia was able to do at Booty Camp,
  261. 10:16and since then, and at nationals--
  262. 10:20I don't think it warranted being on the bottom row.
  263. 10:22Was I throwing any other child under the bus?
  264. 10:24No. JILL: No.
  265. 10:25I don't either.
  266. 10:26HOLLY: But you did-- but you did that.
  267. 10:26I'm just saying.
  268. 10:27And I'm just saying.
  269. 10:28OK.
  270. 10:29So if you're gonna go there, I'm gonna stick up for my kid.
  271. 10:31That's all.
  272. 10:32HOLLY: I'm not one who likes to stir the pot,
  273. 10:33but I definitely will advocate more for my child this season.
  274. 10:36That's better.
  275. 10:40Don't you think it would be funny
  276. 10:41if Chloe started something, trouble, and then Payton like--
  277. 10:46you know, a little girls' night out, like happens that girls
  278. 10:48get in arguments.
  279. 10:49JILL: Oh.
  280. 10:49MELISSA: Oh, my god.
  281. 10:52Go forward, and Chloe attacks you.
  282. 10:57LESLIE: It's hard enough sitting next to Christi, 'cause I just
  283. 10:59don't like her, let alone sit here and watch our kids
  284. 11:02re-enact our fight.
  285. 11:03And I feel really bad for Payton.
  286. 11:05ABBY LEE: Angry on that!
  287. 11:07Shut their mouths!
  288. 11:08LESLIE: Is that why she asked Payton if she's ready to put up
  289. 11:10a fight? - Yes.
  290. 11:12Payton has to be me.
  291. 11:13That's why.
  292. 11:14She's gonna win.
  293. 11:21[upbeat music]
  294. 11:23AABBY LEE: When need: Comingto focus, boom.
  295. 11:25And then take your hands away and get all excited,
  296. 11:28like they come out pretty, and then like--
  297. 11:31and you're gonna make your wish.
  298. 11:33And then you start and you go--
  299. 11:34[blows]
  300. 11:37The name of Maddie's solo this week is "Birthday."
  301. 11:40And I want to celebrate Maddie.
  302. 11:41Maddie was my big winner at nationals,
  303. 11:44and she's the kid that really wants to do this.
  304. 11:47She's the only girl on this team that I
  305. 11:50know I won't be replacing.
  306. 11:51Make your mouth-- [blows] If you spit, it's OK.
  307. 11:56Music.
  308. 11:57[cheering]
  309. 12:00Congratulations Maddie, 2013 national title winner.
  310. 12:03Practice.
  311. 12:04[blows]
  312. 12:05ABBY LEE: Yes!
  313. 12:06Perfect!
  314. 12:07JILL: It's just so typica of Abby.
  315. 12:09Maddie's the best and all the other girls
  316. 12:12are just along for the ride.
  317. 12:14Kendall was second, right behind Maddie.
  318. 12:16Where's Kendall's cake?
  319. 12:17Get Nia in.
  320. 12:18OK.
  321. 12:19Go to that corner.
  322. 12:20Start a big place with your right foot back.
  323. 12:22Walk, and walk, and reach, and reach.
  324. 12:25Sit back.
  325. 12:26You're on the wrong foot.
  326. 12:28Sit back.
  327. 12:29ABBY LEE: The name of Nia's solo is "Freesom in Paradise."
  328. 12:31Nia proved herself over the break.
  329. 12:33She was here all summer long, and at Booty Camp
  330. 12:37she was a rock star.
  331. 12:38So, Nia, go out there and prove to those judges
  332. 12:42that you deserve a win.
  333. 12:44"Freedom in Paradise" sounds like an ad for a vacation
  334. 12:48at the beach, like Kendall.
  335. 12:51Kendall should-- should have a solo because she earned it
  336. 12:54at nationals.
  337. 12:55Think of it this way.
  338. 12:56Had Maddie not gotten a solo, Kendall
  339. 12:58would have won nationals. - Right.
  340. 12:59I mean, you have to look at it that way.
  341. 13:01How dare she think that Kendall deserves Nia's solo?
  342. 13:04Nia has worked hard all summer for that spot.
  343. 13:08And Nia deserves the solo, not Kendall.
  344. 13:10ABBY LEE: OK?
  345. 13:11Got it?
  346. 13:12See ya.
  347. 13:15[upbeat music]
  348. 13:22Hello.
  349. 13:24No Brooke?
  350. 13:26No phone call?
  351. 13:27No text?
  352. 13:30OK.
  353. 13:31- Where's Brooke, Kel? - Oh, goodness.
  354. 13:32Ava's here. - She's coming.
  355. 13:33She should be here in about 10 minutes.
  356. 13:34I get a call from Brooke's music producer.
  357. 13:36And he tells me that Jana Kramer, who is a country
  358. 13:39singer, wants Brooke to sing at her concert.
  359. 13:42And I think it's a great opportunity for her to further
  360. 13:45her singing career.
  361. 13:47But I think what I'm most excited about is that someone
  362. 13:50asked her to do that and Abby Lee Miller
  363. 13:53had nothing to do with it.
  364. 13:54I just want to share some information with you.
  365. 13:58This is an email from a friend of mine.
  366. 14:02"I have a client who is on tour.
  367. 14:05She loves you and thought it might be
  368. 14:08fun for you to go to a concert.
  369. 14:10Would you want to choreograph a routine to one of her songs?"
  370. 14:14Jana Kramer.
  371. 14:15She's saying that if she--
  372. 14:16It was her idea but somebody--
  373. 14:17CHRISTI: Exactly.
  374. 14:18Let's just get this all clear, that Abby did not
  375. 14:21ask for my daughter to sing.
  376. 14:22She asked for all of your children--
  377. 14:24Right.
  378. 14:24KELLY: --to dance.
  379. 14:26This is Jana Kramer asking Brooke to sing.
  380. 14:28Abby did not get Brooke this gig,
  381. 14:30and Abby wants her fingers in everything everybody does.
  382. 14:34And you know what?
  383. 14:35We don't want it.
  384. 14:36ABBY LEE: Let's take it from the top one more time,
  385. 14:38and I think we're good and we can dismiss this.
  386. 14:41Brooke, you're late for rehearsal.
  387. 14:42It doesn't work that way.
  388. 14:43CHRISTI: She looks nervous.
  389. 14:45Well, 'cause she's gonna get screamed at.
  390. 14:46I don't think Brooke wants to do the dance.
  391. 14:48What do you think, girls?
  392. 14:52And you're standing there covering your crotch like you
  393. 14:54just wet your pants, with your foot sickled.
  394. 14:59Let's go from the top.
  395. 15:01Brooke and Payton are dancing.
  396. 15:02ABBY LEE: I am having Brooke and Payton dance head to head.
  397. 15:06I want Kelly to see it with her own eyes.
  398. 15:08When Brooke misses rehearsal, it shows.
  399. 15:12What are you doing?
  400. 15:13CHRISTI: She's upset.
  401. 15:15KELLY: Of course she's upset.
  402. 15:16Because she's got-- wait.
  403. 15:17You don't think Payton has pressure?
  404. 15:19It has nothing to do with you!
  405. 15:20Don't talk to me about it.
  406. 15:21It has something to do with me.
  407. 15:23My daughter's going up against your daughter right now.
  408. 15:24Well, are you afraid of it?
  409. 15:25Let me tell you what.
  410. 15:26I'll put my daughter up against your daughter
  411. 15:28any day of the week.
  412. 15:29Go ahead.
  413. 15:30LESLIE: I mean, it's unnerving to Payton
  414. 15:31because she's always being replaced by someone.
  415. 15:33Nobody cares how Payton feels.
  416. 15:35I'm just tired of Abby using Payton
  417. 15:37as a pawn in her little, like, dance game.
  418. 15:39I'm gonna give it to you.
  419. 15:40Your daughter's legs and feet are amazing.
  420. 15:42KELLY: They're amazing.
  421. 15:43LESLIE: As far as performance, Payton blew her out
  422. 15:45of the water.
  423. 15:46Do you want to compete about singing to?
  424. 15:47Payton will sing right next to Brooke.
  425. 15:49OK. 'Cause I heard her singing at the recital a couple
  426. 15:51of years ago.
  427. 15:52It was like a sick cow.
  428. 15:52[laughs]
  429. 15:53She's come a long way.
  430. 15:54You know what?
  431. 15:55You better watch what you're saying
  432. 15:56'cause it might come back to bite you in the ass, Kelly.
  433. 15:58Well, you should shut your mouth once in a while.
  434. 16:00KELLY: I think Leslie's jealous of Brooke.
  435. 16:02Just the way Leslie acts upstairs it's like she's
  436. 16:05jealous.
  437. 16:06I know you all want to see Brooke sing on stage.
  438. 16:09So go.
  439. 16:10There's just two days left before we
  440. 16:13go to our first competition of the season.
  441. 16:15And now the girls are gonna miss a whole rehearsal
  442. 16:17to go to Brooke's concert.
  443. 16:19This is not the way defending national champions practice.
  444. 16:23JILL: I guess I'm put at the bottom of the barrel with you
  445. 16:25two now.
  446. 16:26Why?
  447. 16:27Just saying, 'cause the trio's not finished and everything
  448. 16:30else is.
  449. 16:33[upbeat music]
  450. 16:38[chatter]
  451. 16:41JANA KRAMER: Girls!
  452. 16:42Hi!
  453. 16:43I'm Jana.
  454. 16:44Brooke!
  455. 16:46Come here, girl.
  456. 16:47You're singing tonight.
  457. 16:48KELLY: Before the show, Jana was talking to Brooke,
  458. 16:51and she was telling her to always believe.
  459. 16:54And always be yourself.
  460. 16:56Do you want to do both then when you get older, like, you
  461. 16:59want to do dance and music?
  462. 17:00Yes.
  463. 17:01Like, I used to do acting stuff and now I'm, you know,
  464. 17:03been on tour and everything.
  465. 17:05And people are always like, you have to choose between one
  466. 17:07or the other, one or the other.
  467. 17:08But, honestly, you can do both and you can be amazing at both.
  468. 17:12She's good at giving advice.
  469. 17:13[laughter]
  470. 17:15I'll be your big sister. OK?
  471. 17:16There you go.
  472. 17:17KELLY: I like who Brooke is.
  473. 17:18And I like who she wants to become.
  474. 17:21And I always feel like Abby is trying to change the kids.
  475. 17:24You know, Abby's always trying to say,
  476. 17:26you know, you don't do that like Maddie
  477. 17:28or you don't make Maddie's expressions.
  478. 17:29Well, because she isn't Maddie, she's Brooke.
  479. 17:32CROWD: Jana!
  480. 17:33Jana!
  481. 17:34Jana!
  482. 17:35Thank you all so much for coming outside tonight
  483. 17:37to hang out with us.
  484. 17:39I love all of y'all, Pittsburgh.
  485. 17:41So I never want it to rain on any of you.
  486. 17:47["i hope it rains" playing]
  487. 17:50(SINGING) I hope it rains on you.
  488. 17:54Maybe a little bit of lightning, too.
  489. 17:58And I hope it comes, a flood, lots of mud,
  490. 18:02messing up your whole day.
  491. 18:05BROOKE: I'm really excited to perform but I'm a little bit
  492. 18:07nervous.
  493. 18:09Because the only time I've ever been on the stage was to dance,
  494. 18:11and I'm going up there to sing with one
  495. 18:14of my favorite singers.
  496. 18:15So--
  497. 18:16JANA KRAMER: I have a very special friend here tonight,
  498. 18:18and I love her.
  499. 18:19And she's going to sing her new song for y'all.
  500. 18:21So please give a warm welcome to Miss Brooke.
  501. 18:24[cheering]
  502. 18:28What if she forgets the words?
  503. 18:29She has so much going on in her head with dance,
  504. 18:32and school, and--
  505. 18:33I don't know.
  506. 18:33What if she freezes?
  507. 18:35[cheering]
  508. 18:38[music playing]
  509. 18:42[suspenseful music]
  510. 18:54CROWD: Brooke! Brooke!
  511. 18:55Brooke!
  512. 18:56Brooke!
  513. 18:57Brooke!
  514. 18:58KELLY: I'm excited for Brooke to sing with Jana Kramer,
  515. 19:01but I'm actually sick to my stomach.
  516. 19:03I'm nervous.
  517. 19:05Brooke has never done something like this before,
  518. 19:07and I don't know how she's gonna react.
  519. 19:10Hey.
  520. 19:12KELLY: You know, it's one thing to be on a stage dancing,
  521. 19:15and it's another one to be up there singing.
  522. 19:17[cheering]
  523. 19:18["wonder" playing]
  524. 19:27(SINGING) Every day I think about you.
  525. 19:30There's no way I'd ever get through.
  526. 19:32Life can feel just like a tidal wave.
  527. 19:37You were there to keep me floating.
  528. 19:40And your smile just kept me going.
  529. 19:42And your arms, they always kept me safe.
  530. 19:46I want you to know Didn't want you to go.
  531. 19:51You mean more to me than I've ever shown.
  532. 19:56Can you hear me when I call out your name?
  533. 20:01BROOKE: At first I was really, really nervous.
  534. 20:03But then I saw all my friends and family
  535. 20:06and started to get a little bit comfortable.
  536. 20:08And, yeah, it went really good.
  537. 20:11(SINGING) Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na,
  538. 20:15na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na.
  539. 20:21[cheering, applause]
  540. 20:22Give it up for Brooke, y'all!
  541. 20:26KELLY: I think she's perfect.
  542. 20:28I think she's amazing.
  543. 20:29Now, I mean, I am biased because I'm her mom.
  544. 20:32But for her first time I thought it was great.
  545. 20:36KELLY: Brooke is reaching for what she wants
  546. 20:38without her dance teacher.
  547. 20:40[music playing]
  548. 20:44ABBY LEE: Today is the last day to rehearse before we leave
  549. 20:47for West Virginia.
  550. 20:48I have a ton of work to do.
  551. 20:50These girls are still in party mode
  552. 20:52from their concert with Brooke last night.
  553. 20:54But I don't have time to waste.
  554. 20:56I have to rehearse two solos, a group routine, and a trio
  555. 20:59that I haven't even started.
  556. 21:01And, remember, I'm holding an open call audition
  557. 21:04and I might just have to replace the whole team.
  558. 21:07Why don't you go get a drink, and breathe, and let's
  559. 21:08go through your music once.
  560. 21:10OK?
  561. 21:11MELISSA: Oh, how does Nia like her dance, Hol?
  562. 21:13There are some challenging pieces to it.
  563. 21:14MELISSA: Good.
  564. 21:15And so she's excited about it.
  565. 21:17You know, she's 12.
  566. 21:18She's right on that cusp.
  567. 21:20It has to click.
  568. 21:21Like, I'm hoping that this is the year that everything clicks
  569. 21:23for her.
  570. 21:24HOLLY: Abby has overlooked Nia for years.
  571. 21:27And, finally, Abby is giving Nia the credit and the opportunity
  572. 21:31she deserves.
  573. 21:31You know, I asked for it.
  574. 21:32I want this for my kid.
  575. 21:34My child wants it.
  576. 21:36But there's a sense of am I adding too much pressure on Nia
  577. 21:39right now.
  578. 21:41ABBY LEE: Freeze.
  579. 21:43Big back bend-- just knees stay straight.
  580. 21:46Good.
  581. 21:46Very nice.
  582. 21:47[applause]
  583. 21:48Abby actually clapped!
  584. 21:49Oh, my gosh, I'm clapping that Abby clapped!
  585. 21:51ABBY LEE: All right.
  586. 21:53All right, girls, we finished the group.
  587. 21:56We did not finish the trio.
  588. 21:57It's typical.
  589. 21:58Yeah.
  590. 21:59I don't know why it's not finished.
  591. 22:02I mean, Gia pulled the girls in for their solos, you know,
  592. 22:05early.
  593. 22:06She-- all she had to do was ask.
  594. 22:07I could have come.
  595. 22:09CHRISTI: It's kind of funny to watch Jill all green with envy
  596. 22:11over Nia's solo.
  597. 22:12But it's also kind of sad because that was me.
  598. 22:15And now it's Kendall and Nia vying for that number two spot,
  599. 22:18and Chloe's totally out of the picture.
  600. 22:20They're competing it in less than 24 hours
  601. 22:22and they don't know it.
  602. 22:23And they don't have a costume.
  603. 22:25JILL: I need for Kendall to nail this trio.
  604. 22:28I need her to show Abby the five days she missed
  605. 22:31isn't gonna change anything.
  606. 22:33Ready?
  607. 22:345, 6, 7, and--
  608. 22:361, 2, 3, 4--
  609. 22:38Kendall, go downstage.
  610. 22:38--5, 6, 7, 8.
  611. 22:41ABBY LEE: The trio is called "Buckle Up."
  612. 22:43Now, this is really fast paced choreography.
  613. 22:45It takes a lot of energy, a lot of stamina.
  614. 22:48And getting these three to move together in perfect harmony--
  615. 22:52that is some task.
  616. 22:535, 6, 7, 8.
  617. 22:551, 2, 3-- but I think when they get up they
  618. 23:00need to be really hot.
  619. 23:02They're not hot enough.
  620. 23:03Like, they're too athletic.
  621. 23:05KELLY: I think this number is cute.
  622. 23:06I think it's fast.
  623. 23:07- I think the number's cute. - It's very fast.
  624. 23:08I think it's fast.
  625. 23:09And I think their timing needs--
  626. 23:11I think they need to work.
  627. 23:14KELLY: I'm just happy that Paige is in a dance.
  628. 23:16[laughs] I don't care if it's competitive or what.
  629. 23:20I'm just happy she's going to do an extra dance on stage.
  630. 23:23JILL: I'm happy that Kendall has the trio with Chloe and Paige.
  631. 23:27However, it's bittersweet because Abby's not
  632. 23:30real fond of Chloe and Paige.
  633. 23:32And I don't want Kendall to get stuck in that rut with them.
  634. 23:36I want more for her.
  635. 23:37I want her to have solos.
  636. 23:39I think she's earned her right.
  637. 23:41Axle! Up.
  638. 23:42Move! Move!
  639. 23:43Move!
  640. 23:44Move!
  641. 23:45Hop, chaigne, up!
  642. 23:47Plie through.
  643. 23:51Stronger arms behind you.
  644. 23:58I'm-- I'm going to be selfish and say I'd like to do the trio
  645. 24:02again because they just finished the choreography.
  646. 24:05They did the dance once the full time
  647. 24:07through from start to finish.
  648. 24:08They need to do it more than once.
  649. 24:09ABBY LEE: We have one more day before we get on the bus
  650. 24:12to the first competition of the season.
  651. 24:14Don't let me down.
  652. 24:16And you, you're not doing a solo.
  653. 24:20Your mom gave it to Nia.
  654. 24:28[upbeat music]
  655. 24:31[cheering, screaming]
  656. 24:41ABBY LEE: When we pulled up to that beautiful theater
  657. 24:44in Wheeling, West Virginia, there was a huge crowd outside.
  658. 24:48People were chanting my name.
  659. 24:50It was a little crazy.
  660. 24:51I felt like Justin Bieber for a minute.
  661. 24:53Think about that.
  662. 24:54See, girls, that's what I try to tell you.
  663. 24:56You're the Abby Lee Dance Company.
  664. 24:57Everybody knows who you are.
  665. 24:59They expect greatness, so you can't be one bit less on stage
  666. 25:05today.
  667. 25:06The pressure is on.
  668. 25:08This is the first competition of the new season,
  669. 25:11and every one of these girls needs
  670. 25:13to realize that I am looking for new talent.
  671. 25:15So they better prove to me that they
  672. 25:17want to be part of the Abby Lee Dance Company,
  673. 25:20that they want to win.
  674. 25:23I don't know, Nia.
  675. 25:24Your mom was pretty pushy.
  676. 25:26HOLLY: As Abby opened up the box of costumes,
  677. 25:29I just see that glimmer of yellow.
  678. 25:31[cheering]
  679. 25:33Look at Holly.
  680. 25:34Oh, I love it.
  681. 25:36HOLLY: I know it's a winning costume.
  682. 25:38I just want Nia to prove to Abby, prove to herself,
  683. 25:42to everyone that she's worked hard, she's an amazing dancer,
  684. 25:45and she really deserves this solo.
  685. 25:47So you're doing your job.
  686. 25:48Your job is out there, to go out and show--
  687. 25:50bring a win home for Abby and do your personal best.
  688. 25:53Abby said you got it.
  689. 25:55You can do it.
  690. 25:57[upbeat music, cheering]
  691. 26:05ANNOUNCER: Ladies and gentlemen, next up to this stage
  692. 26:06would be number 116.
  693. 26:08This is a Preteen Jazz Trio.
  694. 26:11This is so fast and it's so hard.
  695. 26:12Don't be nervous, guys.
  696. 26:13We have to do this.
  697. 26:14We can do this.
  698. 26:15ABBY LEE: Kendall missed Booty Camp.
  699. 26:17That was a slap in the face to everyone.
  700. 26:20Kendall needs to prove herself worthy of the Abby Lee Dance
  701. 26:23Company.
  702. 26:24She needs to lead this trio to a victory.
  703. 26:27ANNOUNCER: Please welcome Chloe, Paige, and Kendall,
  704. 26:29dancing to "Buckle Up."
  705. 26:31[cheering, applause]
  706. 26:38["buckle up" playing]
  707. 26:45(SINGING) The smell of perfume--
  708. 26:49but it isn't mine and neither's the wine.
  709. 26:53I look in your eyes, telling me lies under the disguise.
  710. 26:59So much to do--
  711. 27:03shrouding my tears, counting my fears.
  712. 27:07I spent so long trying to make you happy.
  713. 27:11Now, for once in my life it's gonna be about me.
  714. 27:14Hey, buckle up now.
  715. 27:19I'm taking the world by storm.
  716. 27:23Not gonna stop now. 'Cause you had your chance and blew it.
  717. 27:27And now I'm my new woman.
  718. 27:29Let's go for a ride.
  719. 27:31Buckle up, 'cause you're not safe by my side.
  720. 27:35I've had enough.
  721. 27:36Don't like it tough 'cause it's about me.
  722. 27:39Watch your world.
  723. 27:41Buckle up.
  724. 27:41[cheering, applause]
  725. 27:48JILL: Kendall lit up the stage just like the star that she is.
  726. 27:52I can only hope that this trio scores well, because Abby will
  727. 27:55never stop punishing Kendall for missing Booty Camp
  728. 27:58unless these kids win.
  729. 28:00ANNOUNCER: Ladies and gentlemen, next up to the stage
  730. 28:02we're going to move to number 115, judges,
  731. 28:04number 115 in your program.
  732. 28:06MELISSA: Kendall and Nia are nipping at Maddie's heels.
  733. 28:09So it's really important that, with Maddie's first solo,
  734. 28:12that she wins and she proves to Abby that she is her number one
  735. 28:15girl.
  736. 28:16ANNOUNCER: Please welcome Maddie to the stage dancing
  737. 28:18to "Birthday."
  738. 28:19[cheering, applause]
  739. 28:26["birthday" playing]
  740. 28:35(SINGING) Every single birthday I promise I am gonna change.
  741. 28:39But I can never take the first step.
  742. 28:45Every single New Year's I promise
  743. 28:48there'll be no more tears.
  744. 28:50I can only take what I get.
  745. 28:53What I get is that you will never, never, never let go.
  746. 29:03What I feel is that you may never, never, never want
  747. 29:09to know me for who I really am.
  748. 29:23La, da, da.
  749. 29:25La, da, da.
  750. 29:27La, da, da, da.
  751. 29:29Thank you.
  752. 29:30Look, she's crying.
  753. 29:32[cheering, applause]
  754. 29:42Woo-hoo!
  755. 29:46ANNOUNCER: Ladies and gentlemen, up next to the stage
  756. 29:48will be number 117, number 117.
  757. 29:51This is a Preteen Contemporary Solo.
  758. 29:54HOLLY: My biggest fear is that I will look on stage when Nia's
  759. 29:56performing and not see the improvement,
  760. 30:00not see that transformation.
  761. 30:02I have yet to see Nia perform on stage since she has invested
  762. 30:07all this time, and hard work, and energy.
  763. 30:09ANNOUNCER: Please welcome Nia dancing to "Freedom
  764. 30:11in Paradise."
  765. 30:12[cheering, applause]
  766. 30:15["freedom in paradise" playing]
  767. 30:27(SINGING) Yesterday washed up in the tide.
  768. 30:34Tomorrow are the waves that I ride.
  769. 30:39But tonight the ocean's so calm.
  770. 30:44And I feel safe from harm.
  771. 30:53'Cause it never rains, and nothing to remind you.
  772. 31:03All you want's inside you.
  773. 31:08And all you need will find you.
  774. 31:12No one can take that away.
  775. 31:22[cheering, applause]
  776. 31:29ABBY LEE: I thought when Nia stepped out on stage
  777. 31:30she was stunning.
  778. 31:31She was in control when she started the routine.
  779. 31:33But as time progressed, she got a little more
  780. 31:36into the performance and less into the technique.
  781. 31:40The aerial walkover, you still have
  782. 31:42to cut under your supporting foot when you land.
  783. 31:44And you can't change your face on the tricks.
  784. 31:48I told you at the pyramid, and I think it went in one ear
  785. 31:51and out the other and you weren't really paying
  786. 31:52attention.
  787. 31:53I am scouting new talent.
  788. 31:55I'm looking for a girl that is 12, someone short,
  789. 32:01petite, extraordinary legs and feet, the ability
  790. 32:06to work both sides, and somebody that does all genres.
  791. 32:12None of that was Payton.
  792. 32:13Not one single thing.
  793. 32:13ABBY LEE: Right.
  794. 32:14Not one thing I said was Payton.
  795. 32:16CHRISTI: Abby's threatened us in the past,
  796. 32:17just to kind of light a fire and get things going.
  797. 32:20But this time it sounds like she's
  798. 32:22looking for someone permanent.
  799. 32:23And I'm afraid that's a replacement for Chloe.
  800. 32:26You can't put it right there.
  801. 32:27Why?
  802. 32:28It doesn't go in.
  803. 32:29LESLIE: It's gonna have to go in, honey.
  804. 32:30If you let me hurt you, it'll go in.
  805. 32:32MELISSA: Here, why don't you let me hurt you so you don't fight
  806. 32:35with your mother?
  807. 32:36OK?
  808. 32:37You're good.
  809. 32:38OK?
  810. 32:39OK, girlfriend, let me see your lips.
  811. 32:42You're beautiful.
  812. 32:42Stop it.
  813. 32:43LESLIE: I know my daughter and she
  814. 32:44doesn't cry over nothing, especially
  815. 32:46over hair and costume.
  816. 32:48You know, after Abby gave that checklist of what she's looking
  817. 32:50for in a dancer and it's not Payton,
  818. 32:52it made her feel very uncomfortable.
  819. 32:54And she feels unsupported on this team.
  820. 32:56[upbeat music]
  821. 32:59Brooke's in the best outfit?
  822. 33:00Payton, didn't you tell me you had that bra top at home?
  823. 33:02LESLIE: Are you ladies worried about her replacing your kids?
  824. 33:06'Cause I'm a little nervous.
  825. 33:07ABBY LEE: Oh, you know what?
  826. 33:08I'm sick and tired of it.
  827. 33:09Shut up!
  828. 33:10You know what?
  829. 33:11Your kid is 16 years old.
  830. 33:12LESLIE: Right.
  831. 33:13And I put her on this team this weekend
  832. 33:16because we're doing a dance that she looks great doing.
  833. 33:18She's in the middle, and you're still bitching about stuff.
  834. 33:22ABBY LEE: I need dancers that I can count on.
  835. 33:24I thought I had Brooke, but she proved me wrong.
  836. 33:27So I bring in Payton, but she's having a meltdown
  837. 33:30and boo-hooing over her hairstyle.
  838. 33:32Really, Payton?
  839. 33:33You're the oldest, most advanced person in this group.
  840. 33:36During the "Lion King," did the bird's mom freak out
  841. 33:39because they didn't have the monkey suit?
  842. 33:42No.
  843. 33:44They're wearing the bird outfit, 'cause they're the best bird,
  844. 33:45'cause they do the best leaps.
  845. 33:47Did their mother show up and whine and complain?
  846. 33:50Did the person cry and have a hissy fit?
  847. 33:51No!
  848. 33:54They said thank you for the job.
  849. 33:59This is your job.
  850. 34:00You don't want to be here?
  851. 34:02I have four kids standing in the hall
  852. 34:04right now that I looked at on stage
  853. 34:08earlier today that could take any one of your places.
  854. 34:15Payton, you can't even look at me.
  855. 34:17You're looking everywhere else.
  856. 34:18Stop acting like a baby.
  857. 34:19You're 16 years old, and everybody's watching you cry.
  858. 34:22Save your tears for the pillow.
  859. 34:23You have an opportunity here.
  860. 34:25Don't blow it, kiddo.
  861. 34:29Mackenzie, see what it looks like when you cry like a baby?
  862. 34:36[upbeat music]
  863. 34:42ANNOUNCER: Ladies and gentlemen, a round
  864. 34:44of applause for your prop help.
  865. 34:47ABBY LEE: There's some amazing talent at this competition.
  866. 34:50And I have my eye on a few kids.
  867. 34:53My girls better get their act together, because they're all
  868. 34:56replaceable.
  869. 34:58ANNOUNCER: This is a Preteen Jazz Group.
  870. 35:00Please put your hands together for "Girls Night Out."
  871. 35:03[cheering, applause]
  872. 35:07["girls night out" playing]
  873. 35:14(SINGING) We don't care what our boyfriends say,
  874. 35:17'cause we're gonna do what we want to anyway.
  875. 35:22We don't mind.
  876. 35:23But if you get antsy, don't psycho-analyze
  877. 35:27where we've been.
  878. 35:29Uh-oh.
  879. 35:31Walking down the street like a gang of supermodels on a runway
  880. 35:35beat.
  881. 35:36Every girl around the world, tell your boyfriend
  882. 35:42to shut their mouths.
  883. 35:44Girls night out.
  884. 35:46Ain't no boys allowed.
  885. 35:48Girls going wild.
  886. 35:51Oh, girls night out.
  887. 35:53That's what it's about.
  888. 35:56Go shout out loud.
  889. 36:00G-N-O, girls night out!
  890. 36:08[cheering]
  891. 36:10(SINGING) We can't wait for Friday night,
  892. 36:14when we put a lipstick on, pink electrolyte.
  893. 36:18We're ready now to hit this town.
  894. 36:21We're gonna rock it like an earthquake
  895. 36:23and shake the ground.
  896. 36:25It's G-N-O, girls night out.
  897. 36:29Let's go!
  898. 36:30[cheering, applause]
  899. 36:35I thought it was a hot mess.
  900. 36:37The girls looked hot, but the routine was a mess, especially
  901. 36:43Brooke.
  902. 36:44She made so many mistakes.
  903. 36:46I think she ought to stick to the singing thing.
  904. 36:48Let's hope the judges didn't notice.
  905. 36:50[cheering]
  906. 36:54Dancers, when you hear your name, and your title,
  907. 36:57and your reward, please collect your trophy.

  923. 37:40HOLLY: I really put the pressure on Nia this week to win.

  940. 38:36HOLLY: Of course I'm happy for Maddie, that she won.
  941. 38:39But I'm also heartbroken for Nia because she's worked so hard.
  942. 38:43I just hope Abby won't give up on her,
  943. 38:45and that she'll give her another opportunity in the future
  944. 38:47to have a solo.

  952. 39:11ABBY LEE: I haven't groomed these girls since they were
  953. 39:12babies to get third place.
  954. 39:14I had two routines win and two routines lose.
  955. 39:1850%, that's an F. To me, that's failing, and this team failed.
  956. 39:24So starting out the season with the big bang and a big win!
  957. 39:31What happens when you get there and everybody's good?
  958. 39:35You have to be better.
  959. 39:36You can't take a vacation.
  960. 39:37I got it.
  961. 39:38You can't take time off.
  962. 39:39It doesn't help, it hurts.
  963. 39:43Brooke didn't want to learn that dance.
  964. 39:44And she could have known it.
  965. 39:45She missed a whole step.
  966. 39:47She specifically came there before she went to her concert
  967. 39:51to learn the dance.
  968. 39:52Her performance skills are weak.
  969. 39:54Well, you know what?
  970. 39:56She had a better opportunity and she took it.
  971. 39:58We all know she has that opportunity because of me.
  972. 40:01And the performance skills there sucked too.
  973. 40:03I don't care what you think of her performance skills, Abby.
  974. 40:05I really don't.
  975. 40:07Whenever she dance with you, you do-- you put all your eggs
  976. 40:10in one basket.
  977. 40:11Your kid was the basket.
  978. 40:14Your child was the one I put all my eggs in--
  979. 40:16Yeah. And she got nowhere with you.
  980. 40:18She got nowhere with you.
  981. 40:19--years and years ago.
  982. 40:21And where did it get Brooke?
  983. 40:22Nowhere.
  984. 40:23'Cause she had a mother that was a bitch.
  985. 40:25[suspenseful music]
  986. 40:28MELISSA: Here comes the kids.
  987. 40:30CHRISTI: You guys look cute.
  988. 40:31MELISSA: You did so good in that group dance, girl.
  989. 40:34Good job on the trio, girls.
  990. 40:36I don't usually announce where you're going until pyramid.
  991. 40:42But next week we're going to Ohio,
  992. 40:45and you all know who's in Ohio.
  993. 40:49So being third overall high score has me
  994. 40:51a little bit worried--
  995. 40:53a lot worried-- about next week.
  996. 40:58ABBY LEE: You're welcome.
  997. 40:59You don't need to thank me.
  998. 41:00Just win.

  1003. 41:13Kendall, Chloe, I'm trying to figure out who's
1004. 41:15gonna be my number one star.
1005. 41:18We cannot walk in there again mediocre.
