- 0:05Hello and welcome to a new video from
- 0:08Stein Investments. In today's video, I'd
- 0:10like to talk about the
- 0:13Forex trading strategies we use
- 0:15usually, which is mainly the breakout
- 0:18strategy. And
- 0:20so I'll show you some trade
- 0:23examples, explain you
- 0:26the conditions that are relevant for the
- 0:30trading strategy or what
- 0:31what we have to look for. And
- 0:34while trading, I got
- 0:37some easy scalping alerts for forex
- 0:40symbols as well. And so I traded them
- 0:42too. And then I thought it would be a
- 0:44good idea to include
- 0:47them as well and provide you a quick
- 0:50comparison of which
- 0:52strategy has what to offer and what are
- 0:54the differences and what are the
- 0:56benefits. And so that's what
- 0:59this video is about.
- 1:02As you probably know, you'll find all
- 1:05our strategy descriptions and
- 1:08templates for your charts with our tools
- 1:12on our Central Stein
- 1:14Investments page, which is
- 1:17mostly linked below every video we
- 1:20publish, and so you can easily
- 1:23access this source of information.
- 1:26So let's start with the breakout
- 1:27strategy. Here you'll find a
- 1:30detailed explanation and we
- 1:33mainly look for these line
- 1:35splits where all trend lines of one
- 1:38currency are above
- 1:40the other currency or vice
- 1:43versa as you like.
- 1:45see how to trade these
- 1:47opportunities, where to place the stop
- 1:49loss, how to determine a
- 1:52reasonable risk and reward ratio
- 1:55and that's. What this video is mainly
- 1:58about?
- 2:00The Easy Scalping strategy is also
- 2:02available on our central page
- 2:05and you'll find it here
- 2:09along with some screenshots that explain
- 2:11it in detail and a
- 2:14tutorial video which I made two days ago
- 2:17to explain how to set up IX Power, how
- 2:20to work with this tool and how to trade
- 2:22the Easy Scalping strategy.
- 2:25Here's an excellent breakout strategy
- 2:27set up on the British pound
- 2:30long against the
- 2:33Swiss franc which is currently going down
- 2:36and you can see there is a one sided
- 2:38dynamic and we speak about the dynamic
- 2:41if the short term trend
- 2:44is clearly forcing the
- 2:47direction of the long term trend. In this
- 2:50example you see long term trend on the
- 2:52Swiss franc is. A sell
- 2:55and it's going down and
- 2:58the short term for our analyzers
- 3:02indicates some momentum.
- 3:05It's already reached the extreme stage
- 3:08of the scale and this momentum is
- 3:11relevant for the timing of your trade. So
- 3:14in this example
- 3:17we take the trade with a stop loss right
- 3:20below here and a profit
- 3:23target. At the 80%
- 3:25ATR.
- 3:28So let's do that now
- 3:32and then we'll check the
- 3:34outcome of this trade later on.
- 3:39The British pound against the Canadian
- 3:41dollar provides another breakout strategy
- 3:43setup. In this case it's already a double
- 3:46sided dynamic because we see some
- 3:49dynamic here on the Canadian dollar
- 3:52which is going to the short side and the
- 3:552nd dynamic comes from the British pound
- 3:57which rose short term above its
- 4:01long term one week trend. The
- 4:04problem in this scenario is.
- 4:07The support cluster you see here, which
- 4:09is already
- 4:11more than a day old. It tried to break
- 4:14throughevening, but was unable
- 4:17to do so and so it reversed and this
- 4:20looks like a second attempt to break
- 4:22through this resistance right now.
- 4:25It's not very promising, especially if
- 4:28you consider that the. Next support level
- 4:31is already here. So
- 4:34if you think about a reasonable risk and
- 4:36reward ratio, we would have to place our
- 4:38stop loss here and the profit target
- 4:41if we break through this should be
- 4:44here. And so you get
- 4:47a maximum of 1 to one and the
- 4:50risky
- 4:51of this trade is this resistance because
- 4:53if it holds the price drops back and
- 4:55there is no chance to reach this target
- 4:57so. This is a perfect example for a
- 5:00trade that fits the breakout
- 5:03strategy entry rules, but
- 5:06support and resistance analyzers
- 5:08prohibits to take a trade because
- 5:11the risk is bigger than the reward that
- 5:13is possible, so we drop it.
- 5:17Another great example is the New
- 5:20Zealand dollar against the Canadian
- 5:22dollar, also a double side dynamic
- 5:25breakout strategy set up. But
- 5:28we had some
- 5:29from the Royal Bank of New Zealand
- 5:32which caused this spike to the downside,
- 5:34then it went back and all this caused
- 5:38an ATR of
- 5:40already 120% for today. So
- 5:43we
- 5:44exceeded the usual volatility
- 5:47on this pair which limits the potential
- 5:50for profits and you can see
- 5:53that the next resistance cluster is
- 5:56very close while we
- 5:59had to take the stop loss
- 6:02around here which makes it a risk
- 6:05reward ratio of 1 to
- 6:080.5. So this is also a
- 6:11non. Very promising setup and we
- 6:14drop it as well. I think
- 6:17we can ignore the New Zealand dollar
- 6:19completely today because the New Zealand
- 6:21dollar reached
- 6:23129% already. Starting from
- 6:26130%, we recommend to exit positions
- 6:29on a currency and so we
- 6:32can ignore the New Zealand dollar for the
- 6:34rest of today.
- 6:37Then we have another setup on the euro
- 6:39against the British pound which
- 6:42is showing certain dynamic to the upside.
- 6:45The euro is slightly going down. You
- 6:48see this downtrend euro against the
- 6:50British pound is already established. We
- 6:52have a clear separation on the long term
- 6:54trends. The volatility
- 6:57also reached only 51%,
- 7:00so there is enough potential to the
- 7:02downside. There is also no support
- 7:05level inside. We have only resistance
- 7:07levels and so I would
- 7:10say we take this trade with a stop
- 7:13loss above this high and
- 7:16target the 80% ATR
- 7:19for today. So we are placing a sell trade
- 7:22here.
- 7:24And place our profit target here and
- 7:27then we'll see how it goes.
- 7:30Here is another good example for a
- 7:32breakout strategy setup currently with a
- 7:35double-sided dynamic for
- 7:38maybe 10 to 15 minutes. Now the
- 7:42euro is clearly going down and the
- 7:44yen remains on the strong side.
- 7:48So let's have a look at the situation
- 7:51regarding support and resistance levels
- 7:54and you can see there is plenty of space
- 7:56to the downside and euro yen.
- 8:00Only moved 61% today. So
- 8:03I would say we'll place a sell trade
- 8:05here with a stop loss right above here
- 8:09and a profit target at the 80%
- 8:11ATR level.
- 8:15So let's do this and
- 8:18then we'll see how this evolves overtime.
- 8:23So meanwhile, I received an extreme sell
- 8:26alert for the euro, which is
- 8:29going down pretty heavily
- 8:32across all the
- 8:34analysis periods. And so this
- 8:37offers the chance for further breakout
- 8:40trades. And so I go
- 8:43through all the euro pairs to check
- 8:47the possibilities we get with this setup,
- 8:50we can see. The
- 8:53US dollar is going to the upside
- 8:58and so we could risk a sell trade here on
- 9:01EURUSD with
- 9:04either a tight stop loss here or a bit
- 9:06wider. I would prefer a bit
- 9:09wider stop loss and there is still plenty
- 9:11of space to the downside because we have
- 9:14only forty-six percent ATR
- 9:16today and so I would say. We
- 9:19place our stop loss here
- 9:22and target the 80%
- 9:24ATR on the downside.
- 9:38Next pair is euro
- 9:40against the Aussie dollar
- 9:44and here we see is only dynamic on the
- 9:47side of the euro. And we are
- 9:49already directly in front of a support
- 9:52level. So I skip this one.
- 9:56Euro NZD is pretty clear. We already
- 9:59said we dropped the New Zealand dollar
- 10:02pairs due to the
- 10:05extreme spike of the news event and
- 10:07and we already reached 181% ATR,
- 10:10so. I would skip this
- 10:13one as well. Moving on to
- 10:16euro against the Canadian dollar and here
- 10:18is a
- 10:21promising setup with plenty of space to
- 10:24the next support level.
- 10:28So we place our stop loss here
- 10:31and set the profit target here
- 10:36and move on to the next one. Euro Swiss
- 10:38franc is usually a tricky one because
- 10:41they are highly correlated and you
- 10:44are right inside support
- 10:47level and the next ones are rating,
- 10:50so there's nothing to get from
- 10:53this one. And last but not
- 10:56least, we have our euro,
- 10:58Japanese yen trade we've already taken.
- 11:01So right now I would say we make a break
- 11:05and wait what
- 11:06what the market offers during the next
- 11:08hours.
- 11:10So and here we got an easy
- 11:13scalping trigger alert for
- 11:17the Aussie dollar against the Canadian
- 11:18dollar. Stop loss would be right
- 11:21here and we'll see
- 11:24if
- 11:27this pair is able
- 11:30to
- 11:32at least this resistance level or
- 11:34maybe rises even higher.
- 11:39And here is another easy scalping alert,
- 11:41this time on the Swiss franc against the
- 11:43Japanese yen. This setup worked
- 11:46before during the Asian session
- 11:48and then we hit the reversal to the
- 11:51upside and now I'm looking
- 11:54to sell this pair,
- 11:57hopefully getting back to the previous
- 12:00low area.
- 12:03So we place the stop loss here.
- 12:08And then we'll see how it
- 12:11goes.
- 12:13So here is another easy scalping
- 12:15setup, this time on the Aussie dollar
- 12:18against the Swiss franc to the upside.
- 12:21Stop loss is here, profit target
- 12:23here. It's almost one to
- 12:26one. So I will take this one
- 12:31and then we'll see what happens next.
- 12:36Here is a nice easy scalping setup on the
- 12:38yen against the US dollar.
- 12:41So we shortdollar
- 12:46against the yen and place the profit
- 12:48target directly
- 12:51here at the support level.
- 12:55So to say it up front,
- 12:58today didn't work as expected
- 13:01but provided some interesting insights
- 13:04and we've been able to close the day in
- 13:06profit. So let's start our trade
- 13:09recap and I'll start with the British
- 13:11pound against the Swiss franc, which has
- 13:13been a breakout setup here.
- 13:16It was ideal, a double sided
- 13:19dynamic breakout setup and it
- 13:21didn't work. The British pound was not
- 13:23able. To move any
- 13:26further to the upside and so
- 13:29this trade went down, hit the stop loss
- 13:32and we've been out on this one.
- 13:35The second one was the euro
- 13:38against the British pound and I have
- 13:41to say we had very bad luck
- 13:44with the euro today because during
- 13:46today's morning session
- 13:49there has been an interview
- 13:51someone from the ECB board.
- 13:54And she gave an interview
- 13:57to the Financial Times saying that it's
- 14:00time to rethink the rate cut
- 14:02policy of the ECB. And so
- 14:06this naturally stables the
- 14:08euro. And so we've been
- 14:11facing a euro up move in the
- 14:13following hours across all euro
- 14:16pairs. And thanks to our
- 14:19reasonable stop loss, we've been able.
- 14:22To keep the trade and close it
- 14:25right now at the end of the London
- 14:27session here at almost break even.
- 14:33Euro yen performed way better because the
- 14:36yen was really strong during
- 14:39today's New York session and this
- 14:42helped a lot on this pair and provided
- 14:44some great profits here
- 14:48which. At least covered a
- 14:51part of the losses we've taken
- 14:54with the two other trades here.
- 14:57EURUSD was also able
- 15:00to provide some profits. You can see this
- 15:02was a sideways move right
- 15:05after the news came out or right after
- 15:07this interview came out. But the New
- 15:10York session added some further
- 15:13volatility and EURUSD was
- 15:16able to continue the down move it
- 15:18began. During today's
- 15:21Asian session,
- 15:25last but not least, we have euro against
- 15:27the Canadian dollar. Same picture as on
- 15:30the others was not able to go
- 15:33straight to the downside, moved
- 15:35upwards and we've been able to close it
- 15:37break even. As you can see, there are
- 15:40different metric numbers. These one to
- 15:42three metric numbers are from the
- 15:44instance I took the breakout.
- 15:48Strategy trades with
- 15:50the 12345
- 15:53magic number trades are
- 15:55are the ones I picked
- 15:58with the easy scalping strategy
- 16:00and so let's have a look
- 16:03at these trades as well. Starting with
- 16:05the Aussie dollar against the Canadian
- 16:09which didn't work in first place, it was
- 16:11able to reach the.
- 16:13Resistance level as expected, but our
- 16:16profit target was just a handful of
- 16:19pips higher and so it was razor
- 16:22thin that the Aussie against the
- 16:24Canadian missed this profit target drop
- 16:26down. We've been stopped out and then
- 16:29came another signal here which I
- 16:31missed because I was currently not at the
- 16:33office, but I checked it later on and saw
- 16:36the setup is still valid and so I picked
- 16:38this trade. Targeted the same
- 16:42resistance level again and so I
- 16:44I've been able to add some
- 16:46profits here on this pair as well.
- 16:54Here is the Swiss
- 16:57franc against the Japanese yen.
- 17:00Of course the yen strength during the New
- 17:02York session helped a lot,
- 17:04And I'm happy with the trade
- 17:07itself and the target I've chosen
- 17:10because it went only a few pips further
- 17:12down and then you can see the
- 17:15move already ended.
- 17:18Moving on to Aussie dollar against the
- 17:20Swiss franc. This one didn't work,
- 17:23no problem with that. That's part of the
- 17:25game. So yeah, that was a
- 17:28perfectly valid setup, 2 trends on the
- 17:31strong side. The four hours came back
- 17:33across the zero, but was not able
- 17:37to fuel this pair, pushing it
- 17:40to this resistance. level. And so,
- 17:46yeah, US dollar against the yen also
- 17:49moved to the downside. Signal came, I
- 17:51took the trade, picked the
- 17:54stop loss here and it
- 17:57went straight down.
- 17:59would have been probably better to place
- 18:01the profit target
- 18:04At the M5
- 18:05support instead of the M15 support.
- 18:08But that's how it is. Next time
- 18:12I'll try it the other way around and
- 18:14choose the profit target
- 18:16based on the time frame I'm trading on.
- 18:24OK, this was the 2nd Aussie dollar
- 18:26Canadian trade, which is why we see this
- 18:28chart again and last but not least.
- 18:32This was an awesome one, the
- 18:34euro against the Aussie dollar and
- 18:37it was a picture perfect trade
- 18:40straight to the end. Here we received a
- 18:42signal. It came from our custom alerts
- 18:45tool.
- 18:46received it on my mobile device. And
- 18:49so I picked the trade, placed the stop
- 18:51loss right above here and placed the
- 18:54profit target here. At this
- 18:57support level and it was perfectly hit
- 19:00and added the most profit for
- 19:03today with a risk reward ratio of
- 19:06one to two almost
- 19:09three. And so we've been able
- 19:12to close this trade in profit even though
- 19:15we had some difficulties
- 19:18during these unexpected news
- 19:21which were noannounced, but
- 19:23we have as traders, we have to deal with
- 19:25that and if you are
- 19:28looking for a reasonable risk and reward
- 19:31ratio and are strict with your
- 19:33risk management, you can handle these
- 19:36situations easily and you'll be able
- 19:40to end even such
- 19:42days with a profit.
- 19:46Now let's compare both strategies
- 19:49on the euro Aussie dollar trade because
- 19:52it was a perfect example of the
- 19:55advantage of the easy scarping strategy.
- 19:59And the main reason is that the breakout
- 20:01strategy itself waits until a
- 20:04trend has been established. And if
- 20:06you then wait for the additional dynamic,
- 20:09the short-term momentum, you are
- 20:12probably pretty late in a trade.
- 20:15As we can see here, the dynamic started
- 20:17here on the Aussie dollar and this is
- 20:20where the magic already happened, if you
- 20:22want to say so. And
- 20:25so in this
- 20:28example you can see that
- 20:31the easy scalping strategy is
- 20:33perfect if you want to
- 20:36spot
- 20:37The continuation of a trend directly
- 20:41after the reversal move ended. It
- 20:44doesn't work always, but if it does,
- 20:47you have an excellent risk and reward
- 20:49ratio because you can place the
- 20:52stop tight and usually
- 20:55have plenty of space to your
- 20:57target and.
- 21:00That's a big advantage for this strategy
- 21:02because you can also lose one or two
- 21:05trades and you're still big in profit.
- 21:07And if we have a look at the stats
- 21:10heredown here, then it's
- 21:13pretty obvious which
- 21:15strategy provided the most
- 21:18to today's profits and which is
- 21:22the better one for today. So
- 21:25that's it. It's up to you which one to
- 21:27choose. I hope you like the content we
- 21:30provide and I hope
- 21:33you learned a bit of how
- 21:35to separate good trading
- 21:38opportunities from worse trading
- 21:41opportunities, how to determine a
- 21:44reasonable risk and reward ratio and how
- 21:46to work with the
- 21:49support and resistance levels as profits
- 21:51targets because they help you a lot
- 21:54finding the right target as you can see
- 21:57here. Because it's a perfect hit, you get
- 21:59the profits and then you're out and done.
- 22:01That's it. Was a pleasure to create this
- 22:05content for you and I hope you'll
- 22:07be able to trade as well as we
- 22:10do with these tools. And in case of
- 22:13questions, just drop a line or a comment
- 22:16below this video. We are always here to
- 22:18help and we are looking forward to make
- 22:21you a better trader. That's it. Thanks
- 22:24for your attention. Thanks for watching.
- 22:27See you and bye bye.
