  2. 0:10right. I want to thank everyone for
  3. 0:11standing out and braving the cold. Uh,
  4. 0:14our deposition has concluded. It's a
  5. 0:17shame that it took 7 months to get Miss
  6. 0:20Clinton in. Uh, she answered most of our
  7. 0:23questions. Uh, I'm going to let some of
  8. 0:26my my colleagues uh lament on on that,
  9. 0:30but we're we're going to not release the
  10. 0:33too many details of what happened today.
  11. 0:35We're going to try to get the video out
  12. 0:37uh as quickly as possible. Hopefully
  13. 0:39within the next 24 hours. That's a very
  14. 0:41long deposition. So, as quick as we can
  15. 0:44get that uh video uh produced, we will
  16. 0:47get that out. The transcript will will
  17. 0:49be released as as soon as her attorneys
  18. 0:51approve it. That's the standard rules of
  19. 0:54a deposition. Uh and I think that uh I
  20. 0:56think this was a productive deposition
  21. 0:59today. I think uh we we uh learned a
  22. 1:02lot. Uh there were a lot of questions
  23. 1:04that we asked that we you know weren't
  24. 1:06satisfied with the answers that we that
  25. 1:08we got, but we will continue to to move
  26. 1:10forward. Any of my colleagues, every
  27. 1:13member of the committee asked questions?
  28. 1:15I would just say one of the things I
  29. 1:16learned today is if you really have
  30. 1:18specific questions about the Clinton
  31. 1:20Global Initiative or the relationship
  32. 1:22between the Clintons and Jeffrey Epstein
  33. 1:24and Gain Maxwell, you got to ask Bill
  34. 1:27Clinton.
  35. 1:28>> That and that's a great that's a great
  36. 1:29point. The number of times that she said
  37. 1:32I don't know, you'll have to ask my
  38. 1:33husband was was you more than a dozen.
  39. 1:36And I'll I'll put it like that.
  40. 1:37>> If I can Yeah, if I can just pop in. Um,
  41. 1:40also too, I think it's important to note
  42. 1:41that we have been working in a
  43. 1:42bipartisan fashion to make this as um,
  44. 1:45pain painless as possible for the people
  45. 1:47that we're bringing in, but also to
  46. 1:48ensuring that there's accountability and
  47. 1:50transparency. You will hear a lot of
  48. 1:52spin sometimes out of politicos in
  49. 1:54Washington. But the fact is is that it's
  50. 1:57our goal and objective following this
  51. 1:58and um, we also too did ask for followup
  52. 2:01from the secretary on producing
  53. 2:03legislation that will help prevent this
  54. 2:05from ever happening again in the future.
  55. 2:06obviously working to combat trafficking
  56. 2:08which has been in a cause incredibly
  57. 2:10important not just to myself to chair
  58. 2:12comr to representative Nancy Mace but
  59. 2:13many new members of this oversight
  60. 2:15committee and so we are looking forward
  61. 2:17to continuing to pro provide that
  62. 2:18transparency and do you have anything?
  63. 2:20>> Yeah.
  64. 2:21>> Yeah. Um first of all I want to thank uh
  65. 2:24Secretary Clinton for being here for as
  66. 2:26many hours as she was here today. She
  67. 2:28took every question from every single
  68. 2:30member. I want to thank my colleagues on
  69. 2:33both sides of the aisle, Republicans and
  70. 2:35Democrats alike, for being here today
  71. 2:37and asking questions. I very much look
  72. 2:40forward to speaking to her husband,
  73. 2:41former President Bill Clinton tomorrow.
  74. 2:43We have a lot of work to do. Um, not
  75. 2:46surprised by some of the answers,
  76. 2:47surprised by some, and you'll get the
  77. 2:49transcript very soon. But I want to
  78. 2:51thank everyone who participated. This is
  79. 2:53nowhere near from over. Um, and in
  80. 2:55making my notes today, I've got names of
  81. 2:57individuals that I believe we need to
  82. 2:59haul to the oversight committee and ask
  83. 3:02them their ask them questions, ask them
  84. 3:05perspect their their perspective. Ask
  85. 3:08them about other potential witnesses or
  86. 3:10victims or potential predators. Um, I
  87. 3:12think this is going to go on for a long
  88. 3:14time. There are millions of files. There
  89. 3:16are a lot of people involved. and uh
  90. 3:18some of the gaps that have been seen
  91. 3:20especially early on um you know are very
  92. 3:23evident uh after speaking with her today
  93. 3:25and I just want to thank everyone for
  94. 3:26their time and we have a lot of work to
  95. 3:28do and I'm willing to work with anyone
  96. 3:30who's willing to work with me. I'll work
  97. 3:32with you on getting to the bottom of
  98. 3:34this making sure that this doesn't ever
  99. 3:36happen again and when it does those
  100. 3:38predators are held accountable to the
  101. 3:40fullest extent of the law. Thank you.
  102. 3:43go ahead and then we'll
  103. 3:46>> So, this is a nonpartisan issue. Um, if
  104. 3:48you've read the Epstein files, there's
  105. 3:50unspeakable evil in there and the
  106. 3:52American people and the victims deserve
  107. 3:53transparency and accountability. The
  108. 3:56biggest thing I think we need to know is
  109. 3:57how do how do we strengthen laws to
  110. 4:01prevent human trafficking in America, if
  111. 4:02not the world, and how do we how do how
  112. 4:05does someone with such evil infiltrate
  113. 4:08the highest levels of the US government
  114. 4:10and world leaders. So, we uh we're going
  115. 4:12to continue to ask those questions and
  116. 4:13get answers for the American people.
  117. 4:18>> We'll be happy to answer.
  118. 4:20>> Thank you, Mr. Chairman. Uh Secretary
  119. 4:22Clinton said in her opening statement,
  120. 4:24"If Republicans were serious about
  121. 4:25investigating Jeffrey Epste that you
  122. 4:27would call President Trump to testify,
  123. 4:29why won't you?"
  124. 4:30>> Well, uh President Trump has answered
  125. 4:33hundreds, if not thousands of questions
  126. 4:35from you all about Epstein. uh and I I
  127. 4:38think he's been very transparent in
  128. 4:40releasing the documents. We expect uh
  129. 4:43hopefully more documents to come in.
  130. 4:45We're still assessing the 3 million plus
  131. 4:47documents that we have. Uh we obviously
  132. 4:50will be moving on to the next phase and
  133. 4:52bringing more people in for questions.
  134. 4:55So, uh again, remember this was a
  135. 4:57bipartisan subpoena by members of both
  136. 5:00parties to bring in Miss Clinton. And
  137. 5:03it's just a shame that it took seven
  138. 5:05months. And I know uh every member of
  139. 5:06our committee has a big list of names
  140. 5:08they want to bring in. These are big
  141. 5:10powerful people that hire uh very
  142. 5:14skilled law firms and they delay delay
  143. 5:18delay and and you know part of when you
  144. 5:21delay in this investigation it takes
  145. 5:23seven months to bring a witness in like
  146. 5:24it did today. That creates a problem. So
  147. 5:27we're trying to move as quickly as we
  148. 5:29can. Uh we're obviously following what's
  149. 5:31going on in the United Kingdom now. Uh
  150. 5:34we're following, you know, everything. I
  151. 5:36know that there are a lot of eyes and
  152. 5:37hopefully the media will play a role in
  153. 5:39this. The media has a role. The
  154. 5:41documents have been made public. We're
  155. 5:43going to continue to fight for more
  156. 5:45redactions. There are some names who
  157. 5:47were redacted. I think we all agree
  158. 5:49shouldn't be redacted. I don't think
  159. 5:51they're who you think they are. Uh so
  160. 5:53that's why we want those those names.
  161. 5:54Mr. Chairman, if I could just add in
  162. 5:56real quick to follow to follow up on
  163. 5:57that though, we asked specifically the
  164. 5:59victims and we were all there as well as
  165. 6:01the speaker and the Democrat members of
  166. 6:03Congress if the president was involved
  167. 6:05and they exonerated him. So why would we
  168. 6:07bring in the president of the United
  169. 6:09States who's been exonerated who
  170. 6:10cooperated with law enforcement and who
  171. 6:12released the files when we had to fight?
  172. 6:15We basically threatened to hold the
  173. 6:16Clintons in contempt if they didn't want
  174. 6:17to come in. So to be clear, we had
  175. 6:20cooperation. We asked the victims
  176. 6:22directly and he was exonerated. So I
  177. 6:23would encourage all of you to at least
  178. 6:25do the fair reporting and understanding
  179. 6:26that just like you would not publish
  180. 6:28false statements about the Clintons in
  181. 6:30some of the allegations that have been
  182. 6:31made about them, you would give the
  183. 6:33president of the United States the same
  184. 6:35um the same respect. And he also he
  185. 6:39can ask
  186. 6:40>> Hold on a second guys. Hold on. Mr.
  187. 6:41Chairman, President uh President Trump
  188. 6:43has released more files than anyone
  189. 6:44during the Biden administration. Zero
  190. 6:46files, no DOJ involvement. He has
  191. 6:49secured the border, lowered a human
  192. 6:51trafficking and passed the House
  193. 6:53Republicans and President Trump has
  194. 6:54passed antihuman trafficking legislation
  195. 6:57just his first year.
  196. 6:58>> Mr. Mr.
  197. 7:00>> transparency as you guys said moments
  198. 7:01ago, can you release any findings that
  199. 7:03were discussed today? You said some
  200. 7:05>> we're going to release that video and
  201. 7:06you'll be able to see the whole thing as
  202. 7:08quick as we can get the video produced.
  203. 7:10But I think what would be interesting is
  204. 7:12some of the comments that Secretary
  205. 7:14Clinton made at the very end about
  206. 7:17Jeffrey Epstein and I think that that
  207. 7:19would apply to uh
  208. 7:22others that you all obviously have an
  209. 7:24interest in too. So
  210. 7:25>> Mr. Can um you said uh that Bill Clinton
  211. 7:29is the man to ask questions of.
  212. 7:31>> That's what Miss Miss uh Mrs. Clinton
  213. 7:34said many times today. Uh why did you
  214. 7:37why bring Hillary Clinton along
  215. 7:38>> again for the for the 15th time? This
  216. 7:41was a motion made by Democrats and
  217. 7:43Republicans in a subcommittee on
  218. 7:45oversight. There were a list of people
  219. 7:47to bring in and Bill and Hillary Clinton
  220. 7:49were on the list. And I'm glad we
  221. 7:50brought Hillary Clinton in because she's
  222. 7:52never really answered questions until in
  223. 7:55the last week about her relationship
  224. 7:58with Epstein and and Maxwell. So, uh,
  225. 8:00she answered questions and and, uh,
  226. 8:03hopefully they'll be helpful as we move
  227. 8:04forward.
  228. 8:06>> Are you now on the Clinton Global
  229. 8:08Initiative? Was that your main focus
  230. 8:10today with Secretary Clinton? And did
  231. 8:12you feel like you got the answers you
  232. 8:13were looking for? Well, I I I don't want
  233. 8:16to disclose too much of what was said,
  234. 8:18but uh most of the questions that we
  235. 8:21asked about the Clinton Global
  236. 8:22Initiative, which were very specific
  237. 8:24questions. Some of them were were backed
  238. 8:26by emails and other documents that have
  239. 8:28been released by the Department of
  240. 8:29Justice. Uh she said that she was a
  241. 8:31senator and and you would have to ask
  242. 8:33her husband that tomorrow. So, we have a
  243. 8:35lot of questions for her husband
  244. 8:37tomorrow and I'm confident that
  245. 8:39deposition will last even longer than
  246. 8:41this one.
  247. 8:41>> Chairman,
  248. 8:42>> thank you all. Thank you.
  249. 8:50>> NBC
