  1. 0:00You know, the teacher, she said, you
  2. 0:01know, and by the way, just so everybody
  3. 0:03knows, marriage is between one man and
  4. 0:05one woman. Kind of like looks around the
  5. 0:06room. Everybody got that? Good. Moving
  6. 0:09on. This ties in to a major news story
  7. 0:12that a lot of people said was not
  8. 0:13possible.
  9. 0:15Which is
  10. 0:17according to an economist YouGov poll,
  11. 0:19so it's not necessarily a right-wing
  12. 0:21poll,
  13. 0:22support for same-sex marriage,
  14. 0:25so-called, has fallen to 54%. And this
  15. 0:28is one of these issues, you know, I grew
  16. 0:30up. I'm old enough to remember when
  17. 0:31marriage was between a man and a woman.
  18. 0:33And some of our audience actually is
  19. 0:35probably so young they don't remember
  20. 0:36that. Then you get 2015, Obergefell, the
  21. 0:39Supreme Court redefines marriage. That
  22. 0:41push had been building for some time,
  23. 0:42really since Will & Grace in the late
  24. 0:43'90s. And then it just it it stopped
  25. 0:47being a political issue. And there were
  26. 0:49a handful of us who said, "Yo, guys, you
  27. 0:50can't give up on marriage. It's the
  28. 0:52fundamental political institution." But
  29. 0:54all the Republicans, virtually all of
  30. 0:56the prominent conservatives, they said,
  31. 0:58"No, guys, we lost marriage. Move on.
  32. 1:01Obergefell will never be overturned.
  33. 1:03This is just how it is now." And I
  34. 1:05thought like there's no way, right? This
  35. 1:06is the basic political unit. There's The
  36. 1:08guys of the copybook headings are going
  37. 1:09to come back. Is this a sign
  38. 1:12that we will see the overturning of
  39. 1:14Obergefell and the re-reinstatement of
  40. 1:18proper true marriage?
  41. 1:20Jack, is Obergefell getting overruled?
  42. 1:23I think I think if you look at the
  43. 1:24traction, right? If you look at the
  44. 1:25traction where it's going on this, and
  45. 1:27and Obergefell, and people could say
  46. 1:29what they want. And I think it's
  47. 1:30actually a separate issue from same-sex
  48. 1:32marriage, even though it it's sort of
  49. 1:33like in in a in in political psychology
  50. 1:35isn't because we know that the justices
  51. 1:37take up cases based on public opinion.
  52. 1:39We certainly know that Roberts has done
  53. 1:40this. It's been sort of a hallmark of
  54. 1:42his time on the court. That look, it was
  55. 1:45not properly judged in the same way that
  56. 1:48Roe v. Wade was not properly judged.
  57. 1:50This is just not something that's
  58. 1:51covered in the Constitution. It's not
  59. 1:52there. It's not the Bill of Rights. It's
  60. 1:54certainly not in any of the amendments.
  61. 1:56Marriage was always a state institution.
  62. 1:58It is covered by the 10th Amendment
  63. 2:00because no powers that are given to the
  64. 2:01federal government are all of those are
  65. 2:03left with the states. And so, it's
  66. 2:05always been that way and they can't just
  67. 2:07write things into the Constitution. No
  68. 2:09one ever tried to put this up. No one
  69. 2:10ever tried to make this an amendment.
  70. 2:12They just sort of pushed it through the
  71. 2:13courts, which we've seen the left doing
  72. 2:14since the 1960s. If they can't win at
  73. 2:16the ballot box, they go to the
  74. 2:18And so, it is something where when you
  75. 2:20realize that look there and you
  76. 2:22mentioned there weren't a lot of
  77. 2:23Republicans and conservatives that spoke
  78. 2:24out, but the very first Republican that
  79. 2:27I ever worked for many moons ago, uh
  80. 2:29first as an intern then as a a campaign
  81. 2:31staffer, was Rick Santorum. Yeah.
  82. 2:33>> And Rick Santorum, my senator in
  83. 2:34Pennsylvania, he took a lot of flak, and
  84. 2:37people can go back and look at his
  85. 2:38comments, which were colorful, to say
  86. 2:40the least, about this. And he said, "If
  87. 2:42you put this into practice, right? If
  88. 2:44you put it into law and try it anywhere,
  89. 2:46that what it will do will open up a
  90. 2:48Pandora's box of trouble, where if you
  91. 2:52say that anything can be marriage, then
  92. 2:54all of a sudden you will completely
  93. 2:56distort society, and it won't just be
  94. 2:59men and men and women and women, but
  95. 3:00we'll have all sorts of relationships
  96. 3:02being enshrined in govern- being
  97. 3:03enshrined by government in law. And
  98. 3:05guess what? That's exactly what we're
  99. 3:07seeing. Certainly with the rise of
  100. 3:09surrogacy, certainly with the rise of
  101. 3:10new technologies, we're now seeing like
  102. 3:12polyamorous marriages and children being
  103. 3:15raised by three fathers and three women
  104. 3:17and all sorts of just complete and utter
  105. 3:20wildness, which ultimately always turns
  106. 3:23out very badly for the children. Hold on
  107. 3:271 second. Go to preborn.com/knowles
  108. 3:29k n o w l e s. l e s. We are living at a
  109. 3:31time when lies are easy and the truth is
  110. 3:33costly. Nowhere is that clearer and more
  111. 3:36devastating than in the battle for life.
  112. 3:38That is exactly the issue Natalia faced.
  113. 3:41When she first learned about her
  114. 3:42pregnancy, Natalia considered abortion.
  115. 3:44She was influenced by the messaging
  116. 3:45she'd been exposed to all the time.
  117. 3:48Everything changed when she heard her
  118. 3:50baby's heartbeat. In that moment, she
  119. 3:52felt a divine calling to continue her
  120. 3:54pregnancy.
  121. 3:55Trusting God
  122. 3:58would make a way forward. Natalia chose
  123. 3:59life.
  124. 4:01She found herself surrounded by the
  125. 4:02love, support, and resources she needed.
  126. 4:04At Preborn Network clinics, this happens
  127. 4:06on average 200 times a day because of
  128. 4:08the support from people like you.
  129. 4:10Mothers who are overwhelmed and
  130. 4:12pressured, they see their child, they
  131. 4:13hear the truth, they realize that they
  132. 4:15are not alone. That moment costs 28
  133. 4:17bucks.
  134. 4:1828 bucks to sponsor an ultrasound
  135. 4:21doubles a baby's chance at life. This is
  136. 4:23not the time for silence. It is a time
  137. 4:25for truth. I personally support this
  138. 4:27organization. I think it is terrific.
  139. 4:29Right now, you can dial pound 250,
  140. 4:31keyword baby, or you can go to
  141. 4:33preborn.com/knowles.
  142. 4:35preborn.com/knowles. Give what you can,
  143. 4:37please. And so, you know, he took a lot
  144. 4:40of a lot of flak for that. If every-
  145. 4:41anyone remembers the comments I'm
  146. 4:42referring to from like '05, '06, you'll
  147. 4:44know what I'm saying. That it's it's
  148. 4:47something where he was completely right
  149. 4:48because they didn't stop there. That's
  150. 4:50what led to the push for the trans
  151. 4:51movement. That's what led to like drag
  152. 4:53queen story hour and all the rest of it.
  153. 4:55Because the minute that they got that,
  154. 4:56the entire machinery, the political
  155. 4:58machinery that they had built or
  156. 4:59starting with By the way, you're totally
  157. 5:01right on Will & Grace. That was like the
  158. 5:02first, and then Modern Family became the
  159. 5:04second. This is the mass media. This is
  160. 5:06the, you know, the mass normalization of
  161. 5:08this type of stuff.
  162. 5:09And and it was pushed on society in a
  163. 5:12way that nobody ever really sat down and
  164. 5:15had a debate about. We just sort of were
  165. 5:16told that we have to accept this. And
  166. 5:19and they've completely gone over the
  167. 5:21rails with it, and a lot of people are
  168. 5:22pointing back to 2013, really a lot of
  169. 5:24these bad decisions, bad policies that
  170. 5:26came out of the Obama era, that it's
  171. 5:27time to take a look at it again. And and
  172. 5:29I will, by the way, just add as an
  173. 5:31anecdote to my my son, my older son, um
  174. 5:34he had his first uh reconciliation class
  175. 5:36a couple of nights ago. And in and it
  176. 5:39since it was the first class, we were
  177. 5:40sort of talking about all of the
  178. 5:41sacraments. And when they brought up
  179. 5:43matrimony, the uh you know, the teacher,
  180. 5:46she said, you know, and by the way, just
  181. 5:48so everybody knows, marriage is between
  182. 5:49one man and one woman. Kind of like
  183. 5:51looks around the room. Everybody got
  184. 5:53that? Good. Moving on. Well, even in you
  185. 5:56know, it's so funny. It only occurred to
  186. 5:57me recently. The word matrimony
  187. 6:01comes from the word mater, you know,
  188. 6:03like mother in Latin. And so, the notion
  189. 6:05that you could have matrimony between
  190. 6:07two men is is undercut by the very word
  191. 6:10itself. Yes, Rick Santorum is one of the
  192. 6:14most vindicated man in America. Every
  193. 6:17day that goes by, he is more and more
  194. 6:19vindicated.
  195. 6:20Uh
  196. 6:21I and you make a good point on
  197. 6:23Obergefell being different from same-sex
  198. 6:26marriage, quote unquote. You know, I do
  199. 6:28wonder though on the state versus
  200. 6:30federal issue. I remember I was a
  201. 6:33student and I got to talk to Scalia once
  202. 6:35or twice. And we one of one of the
  203. 6:37times, one of the students asked him
  204. 6:39about marriage and whether it was a
  205. 6:41state's issue or federal issue. And he
  206. 6:42said, "Well, you know, the problem is
  207. 6:44it's very hard for it to be a state's
  208. 6:46issue because you can't have a country
  209. 6:49where someone is married in
  210. 6:50Massachusetts but not married in
  211. 6:51Oklahoma. What happens when they move?
  212. 6:53What happens when they travel? So, it it
  213. 6:55creates problems."
  214. 6:56>> what they did with the Massachusetts
  215. 6:58because I think it was Massachusetts was
  216. 6:59the first state, and this is exactly
  217. 7:01what they were trying to do with that
  218. 7:02under the under the contract clause of
  219. 7:04the Constitution. It's same same idea as
  220. 7:06having a driver's license in one state.
  221. 7:07You can you know, you shouldn't have to
  222. 7:08get a driver's license in every state.
  223. 7:10Yeah, so then my question is, regardless
  224. 7:12of what the Well,
  225. 7:15hm, I actually have two questions.
  226. 7:17We were told that this issue, like
  227. 7:19abortion and Roe v. Wade, was was just
  228. 7:21done. It was set in law. It was never
  229. 7:22going to be overturned in our lifetimes.
  230. 7:24Two questions. Will we
  231. 7:26see the overruling of of Obergefell in
  232. 7:28our lifetime?
  233. 7:29And on on any kind of grounds, on, you
  234. 7:32know, textualist grounds, originalist
  235. 7:34grounds, or substantive grounds. And
  236. 7:36two, will the culture will we see the
  237. 7:39majority of people turn against gay
  238. 7:42marriage, so-called, in our lifetimes?
  239. 7:45I think we will. I think and I caught
  240. 7:47what you were saying about Gen Z. I
  241. 7:48caught what you were saying about the
  242. 7:49polling on this. I think a lot of people
  243. 7:51realize, you know, especially Gen Z,
  244. 7:53when they look
  245. 8:14at, you know, sort of the the laws that
  246. 8:17came out of the '60s, that was sort of
  247. 8:18seen as the Boomer era, then the laws
  248. 8:20that came out of the '90s, the Clinton
  249. 8:22the Gen X era, and then the laws that
  250. 8:23came out of Obama and the policy
  251. 8:25changes, this was the millennial era of
  252. 8:27politics where they had primacy. And the
  253. 8:30idea being that everything has gone a
  254. 8:32little bit too far in one direction, and
  255. 8:33we need to look at things that we want
  256. 8:35to reel back. And you look at some of
  257. 8:37those big changes, there's no way that
  258. 8:39you can say Obergefell wasn't a major
  259. 8:41change to the way things have been done.
  260. 8:43By the way, not just in the United
  261. 8:45States of America, throughout all of
  262. 8:47human history. The nuclear family is the
  263. 8:50oldest institution on planet Earth. It
  264. 8:53predates
  265. 8:54everything. It predates the Bible. It
  266. 8:56predates history itself. We go into the
  267. 8:58caves of the cavemen, and what do we
  268. 9:00find? We find mom, dad, kids. It's all
  269. 9:03there. Yeah, I I I agree. I I just think
  270. 9:06these people who thought that they were
  271. 9:08going to bet on their own ideology over
  272. 9:10human nature and the fact that we're
  273. 9:12social creatures and coupling creatures
  274. 9:13and biological creatures, I that was
  275. 9:16that was really a bad bet. That was a
  276. 9:18great clip. Now, stop, ring the bell,
  277. 9:19subscribe.
  278. 9:20See you next time.
