- 0:21Welcome to Rick's tip of the week. This
- 0:23is a subject that a lot of people don't
- 0:25like to discuss because it's
- 0:26embarrassing, but it's a fact of life.
- 0:28And they say that one out of every three
- 0:30people suffer from hemorrhoids. Now,
- 0:32you've seen these commercials on TV, and
- 0:33if you're in a group of three, you know
- 0:34that one of you got it. Maybe you. Well,
- 0:37the reason I even bring this up is
- 0:39because I've had people ask me about
- 0:41them in the gym because of training.
- 0:43Heavy squats, diet, you name it, can
- 0:45create a lot of pressure at the end of
- 0:48the colon because you're pushing down,
- 0:50of course. And what these are, what
- 0:52hemorrhoids are, what people don't
- 0:53really realize, they are varicose veins.
- 0:54They're veins that get big and they
- 0:58swell up and they start to hurt. They
- 1:00burn, they itch, they bleed, they can be
- 1:03very, very annoying. Um, I know a lot of
- 1:05guys who have them and a lot of guys
- 1:07that don't take care of them because
- 1:08they're afraid to go have them looked
- 1:09at. They're afraid of the doctor going
- 1:11up there and checking it out and it's
- 1:12really not that bad. Um, I had them for
- 1:15years when I was wrestling for years and
- 1:17it would drive me nuts before a match
- 1:19and they would bleed and they would burn
- 1:20and they would itch and they'd bleed in
- 1:22the toilet and I think, "God, I got to
- 1:23do something about this.
- 1:24Finally, I went to a doctor and I said,
- 1:26"What can we do?" And he he says, I
- 1:29said, "Do you have to cut them because I
- 1:30know that the cutting them and stitching
- 1:32is a whole month or two of recovery and
- 1:34it burns and it's just miserable." He
- 1:36said, "No, there's many ways to take
- 1:38care of this." And for you guys that are
- 1:40afraid to do this, there's a pretty
- 1:41simple way. What they do is they numb
- 1:44the area. They go in with a little gun,
- 1:47like a staple gun, which you don't even
- 1:49feel, and it shoots a rubber band, a
- 1:51tiny little band like you'd find on
- 1:52braces around the base of the vein,
- 1:55which strangles it. And then they they
- 1:57use um um u they freeze it um with a
- 2:02spray, and then they just disintegrate
- 2:05and go away. Simple as that. You don't
- 2:06even feel it. You come home, you soak in
- 2:08a tub for a couple of days, for a half
- 2:10hour at a time, and they vanish. They
- 2:12disappear and you'll never see them
- 2:14again. Maybe later in life maybe you get
- 2:16one or two back again. You do the same
- 2:18treatment. Um I I made some notes about
- 2:21this because there are a lot of
- 2:23symptoms. Like I said, there's a lot of
- 2:24itching, there's pain, sharp pain, and
- 2:27then there's bleeding. And then you
- 2:28might not have any of that. You might
- 2:29just have one of the three. You can also
- 2:32get what they call as a fissure, which
- 2:34is a little tear, which comes in there,
- 2:36and it's about the size of a pin head,
- 2:37but it feels like it's a razor blade.
- 2:39And you can get this from squatting. And
- 2:41when you're squatting deep, you're
- 2:42putting a lot of pressure on the butt
- 2:44and a lot of the on the opening. And
- 2:45when you squeeze and strain and come up,
- 2:47it creates even more and and it makes
- 2:49these little veins that come out. Um,
- 2:52they are varicose veins. They're filled
- 2:53with blood and as you squeeze, the blood
- 2:55fills up into them and they start to
- 2:57protrude. You can feel them when you go
- 2:59to the toilet and then you can push them
- 3:01back in with a little Vaseline if you
- 3:02want and keep them up there and they'll
- 3:04stay in for a while until you strain
- 3:05again.
- 3:07What happens when you stand up is the
- 3:08blood comes out of them and they pull
- 3:10back up. So, I just want to bring this
- 3:12up. I know it's a touchy subject. I know
- 3:13it's touchy for sure. I know it's
- 3:15something that's embarrassing for a lot
- 3:16of guys. They want to talk about it. And
- 3:18so, I'm talking about it because I think
- 3:19it's something you need to know. They
- 3:21have uh over-the-counter things like
- 3:23preparation age. They have all types of
- 3:25ointments that shrink and reduce and
- 3:27relieve the pain. Calamine lotion comes
- 3:29in ointment. It stops the burning. It's
- 3:30a cooling sensation. I have all these
- 3:32from my doctor. Uh you can also get a
- 3:34prescription from him that does things
- 3:36and one time he gave me a nitroglycerin
- 3:38ointment. He said what that does is it
- 3:40creates uh blood to the area if you have
- 3:43a fissure of course and it helps it heal
- 3:44because there may not be any
- 3:46circulation. My question to him was
- 3:48nitroglycerin if I sit real real hard am
- 3:50I going to explode? And he just laughed.
- 3:51No, you're not going to do that. So um I
- 3:54wouldn't be afraid to go to the doctor
- 3:55if I were you and have them looked at.
- 3:57It's really painless to be be honest
- 3:59with you. They do open it up and go in
- 4:01with the scope. Yeah, it's a little
- 4:03uncomfortable, but it's not terrible.
- 4:04Now, the other thing they can do, which
- 4:06I've had done, is they inject them. And
- 4:08it's a phenal oil solution, which
- 4:12basically creates scar tissue at the
- 4:14base of the vein. And when the scar
- 4:17tissue adheres and starts to grow, it
- 4:19stops the blood supply. By stopping the
- 4:21blood supply, they disappear. Now, I've
- 4:24had some bad times where they've really
- 4:26bothered me and I've gone in, went into
- 4:28the doctor, he injected. By the time I
- 4:29left the office, got in my car, it had
- 4:31already shrunk down. It was It was like
- 4:33night and day. What a relief that was.
- 4:36So, if you guys do suffer from this,
- 4:38there's precautions you can take. First
- 4:39of all, add fiber to your diet. I have
- 4:42fiber every night. When you're on a high
- 4:43pre protein, low carb, you're not
- 4:45getting that bulk. It will constipate
- 4:46you. Squeezing can cause these varicose
- 4:49veins. So having fiber helps relieve
- 4:51that. Maybe get rid of the symptom.
- 4:53Maybe you won't even get them. You might
- 4:54get one or two. I've had as many as
- 4:56nine. They were removed. So um take care
- 5:00of it. You don't want this to turn into
- 5:01something like colon cancer down the
- 5:03road, which who knows? It could, could
- 5:05not, but better to take care of it now.
- 5:08But the injections are painless. You'd
- 5:09think a needle going in there would hurt
- 5:10and it doesn't at all. You don't feel
- 5:12anything. There's no nerve tissue there.
- 5:13And that's what he explained to me. So I
- 5:15go in, I ask for the injections maybe
- 5:16once every six months. I feel an area
- 5:18that bothers me. I go and give me a
- 5:19shot, dog. And he does. Gone from there.
- 5:21Anyway, I want to bring this up. I think
- 5:24it's uh something you should take care
- 5:26of. I think if it does bother you, call
- 5:28a specialist, which is a proctologist.
- 5:30They know this area well. They take a
- 5:32look at it. They'll analyze it. And you
- 5:34know what? It it'll take a big load off
- 5:35your mind because when you're having
- 5:37issues like this and you go to train or
- 5:39you go to eat or go out in the evening
- 5:40and you want to go to dinner and you
- 5:41know this is bothering you, it can ruin
- 5:43your whole night. It can ruin your whole
- 5:44week. It can ruin your whole month. can
- 5:46ruin your whole life if you don't take
- 5:48care of it. So, my advice to you on
- 5:50Rick's tip of the week, if you do suffer
- 5:51from hemorrhoids, if you do have this
- 5:53problem, don't be ashamed to go to the
- 5:55doctor and ask, get it taken care of,
- 5:56and you'll be happier if you do. And
- 5:59that's my tip of the week, and stay
- 6:00tuned for more. I've got some guests
- 6:02coming out next week on Rick's Corner,
- 6:03and we just reached over 12 million
- 6:05viewers thanks to you guys. I also want
- 6:07to tell you, I have two books out, as
- 6:08you I have bodybuilding for dumbbells
- 6:10based on the workout in the 70s. And
- 6:12then I wrote a book about steroids
- 6:13called the Wikipedia of steroids which
- 6:14is a factual book about what to take,
- 6:17how to take it, how you take it. And I
- 6:19don't advocate the use of it. I'm not
- 6:20saying take them. I'm suggesting maybe
- 6:22you don't. But if you do want to know
- 6:24what to do, this will tell you how to do
- 6:25it and keep you from getting any pill
- 6:27infection. Thanks for watching Rick's
- 6:29tip of the week and I'll see you next
