"BLACKNESS" IS A POLITICAL IDENTITY — NOT A CULTURE — Transcript

- 0:00I vividly remember as a child flipping
- 0:03through [music]
- 0:03family photo albums and thinking to
- 0:06myself, why is it that the culture
- 0:09[music] I see represented in these photo
- 0:12albums drastically different than the
- 0:14culture I see represented [music] around
- 0:17me and on television?
- 0:22Why is it that so many of the people who
- 0:24look like me seem to want to strive to
- 0:27look like what they see on television as
- 0:30opposed to what they see in their
- 0:31[music] own family photo albums. I
- 0:33understand that fashion trends change
- 0:35over time, but the very demeanor and
- 0:38mental predisposition seem to
- 0:40drastically [music] change. The very
- 0:42cultural ethos is radically [music]
- 0:45different than that bygone era.
- 0:52I've spent the better part [music] of
- 0:53the last 10 years extensively
- 0:54researching a wide range of history and
- 0:57culture.
- 0:58>> [music]
- 0:58>> And what I found to be the case when it
- 1:00comes to what many people call blackness
- 1:03is that it's not an authentic identity,
- 1:05[music]
- 1:06but rather a deliberate political
- 1:08agenda. In the days when black men and
- 1:11women were getting married at higher
- 1:12rates and the black family was intact,
- 1:14multiple studies show that Negroes by
- 1:17and large were trending in the right
- 1:18direction [music] on the basis of their
- 1:20own merit and being rooted in Christian
- 1:22values within the [music] context of
- 1:24Western civilization.
- 1:26Unfortunately, at the same time, there
- 1:28was a number of black artists [music]
- 1:30and activists and poets who themselves
- 1:33were hand selected and commissioned to
- 1:35play a part and they would be complicit
- 1:37[music]
- 1:38in helping to manufacture what we would
- 1:41understand today as black culture,
- 1:43[music]
- 1:44which for all intents and purposes is a
- 1:46faux culture.
- 1:48I am producing a documentary called The
- 1:50Myth of Blackness, which seeks to unveil
- 1:52the truth behind this fake culture and
- 1:55we answer the question, why?
- 1:57Why this deliberate attempt to gradually
- 2:01morph the identity of a people into a
- 2:04political block?
- 2:05This is a story that needs to be told
- 2:07and understood, especially since we
- 2:09chronicle the pervasive and incremental
- 2:12attempt to convince a people to turn
- 2:15their backs on God. [music]
- 2:17This is an independent film with a
- 2:19stellar cast that's growing, and what
- 2:21that means is we [music] are going to
- 2:23need your help and producing it. The way
- 2:26that you can help is one [music] of
- 2:27three ways if not all three.
- 2:29One, we could totally use your prayers.
- 2:32Two, we can totally use [music]
- 2:35funding. So, if you feel so inclined to
- 2:37contribute to this project, go to
- 2:39chadojackson.com, [music]
- 2:41go down to films, click or tap on Myth
- 2:44of Blackness, and that will take you
- 2:46right [music] to the contribution page.
- 2:48And then third, we would like to hear
- 2:49from you. What are some things that you
- 2:51would like to see covered in [music] the
- 2:53Myth of Blackness? Feel free to comment
- 2:56in the comment section or email us at
- 2:58[email protected]. [music]
- 3:01While I do have several films in
- 3:03pre-production right now, my aim is to
- 3:05build Historev Olada to where it's more
- 3:07[music] than just a film company. I seek
- 3:10to make Historev Olada a resource that
- 3:13can be relied [music] upon by schools,
- 3:16teachers, students, and individuals
- 3:19to delve into history and to recover the
- 3:21truth of history [music]
- 3:23in the world in which we're living.
- 3:25Thank you all for your support. Thank
- 3:26you for your prayers. I'm Chad O
- 3:28Jackson, and we are just getting [music]
- 3:30started. Thank you.
