513. 22:42several cities to help stop weapons

520. 22:58strategy boils down to mostly
521. 22:59suggestions for beleaguered localities
522. 23:02he's encouraging cities to invest some
523. 23:04of their covet 19 relief funds in the
524. 23:07policing and pushing alternative crime
525. 23:10reduction steps such as increased
526. 23:12community support and summer jobs for
527. 23:14teenagers often both targets and
528. 23:17perpetrators of violence oh my god
529. 23:20doesn't that sound like when hillary
530. 23:22clinton says that uh we're super
531. 23:24predators and they need to bring us to
532. 23:25heal
533. 23:26oh okay who
534. 23:28he said it goes on to say but it's
535. 23:29voluntary the president has been clear
536. 23:31that he is opposed to the defund the
537. 23:34police movement which has been
538. 23:36effectively used against other democrats
539. 23:38to cast them as
540. 23:40anti-law enforcement

544. 23:52to turn our backs on law enforcement
545. 23:55who noted that crime will historically
546. 23:57rise crime historically rises during the
547. 24:00summer
548. 24:01and we need as we emerge from this plan
549. 24:03i'm sorry pandemic i thought there was
550. 24:05an l in there that that biden has taken
551. 24:07right now uh this pandemic the
552. 24:10traditional summer spike may be even
553. 24:12more pronounced than it usually would be
554. 24:14but
555. 24:15he's also trying to boost progressive
556. 24:17efforts to reform policing follow a year
557. 24:20of demonstrations in public anguish
558. 24:22black people got pissed the [ __ ] off and
559. 24:23said [ __ ] the political process we're
560. 24:25gonna start whipping some ass then all
561. 24:26of a sudden people want to start acting
562. 24:28differently right sparked by the killing
563. 24:30of george floyd and other black people
564. 24:32across the country while combating crime
565. 24:33and overhauling the police don't have to
566. 24:35be at odds the two efforts are
567. 24:37increasingly billed that way
568. 24:39biden will try to do both at once

571. 24:46his measures as government overreach and
572. 24:49link them to efforts to reign in
573. 24:50policing now i need to be clear back in
574. 24:5294 i was i was almost an adult so i
575. 24:55remember this very vividly and i

577. 24:58that none of the republicans were
578. 24:59talking about government overreach
579. 25:01because what happened with the 94 crime
580. 25:03bill was that biden and his cronies you
581. 25:06know bill clinton al gore all the
582. 25:08monthly you know was talking about um
583. 25:11here's what we're going to do you put
584. 25:13these things in place you put three
585. 25:14strikes in place you put mandatory
586. 25:17minimums in place you start uh over
587. 25:19policing these black communities you put
588. 25:21these things in place on a state level
589. 25:23and we're gonna give you money oh my god
590. 25:27y'all can fact check me all y'all want
591. 25:29to but you know dave anderson stays with
592. 25:31a magical bag of facts right so this is
593. 25:34some horseshit

597. 25:41whole defund the police movement and
598. 25:43some of the disruption we had in civil

602. 25:51undermining that basic foundation you
603. 25:52start breaking apart the bonds that hold
604. 25:54us together and that's why you see an
605. 25:55increase in crime

610. 26:04announced a half a dozen executive
611. 26:06actions on gun control including going
612. 26:08after goose guns
613. 26:10homemade firearms that lack serial
614. 26:12numbers for tracking and often are
615. 26:13purchased without background checks
616. 26:16i'm sorry but i spent 10 years of my
617. 26:18adulthood in texas
618. 26:19you can go
619. 26:22to damn near any gun show on any weekend
620. 26:26and get you a gun
621. 26:28without any background check
622. 26:31and it's like they're down there
623. 26:32anywhere in the deep south like i'm not
624. 26:33even trying to be funny so
625. 26:36a number of anti-crime and gun safety
626. 26:38groups including the brady campaign and
627. 26:40every time for gun safety applauded the
628. 26:42administration's effort blah blah blah
629. 26:43blah blah strategies increase the public
630. 26:46engagement blah blah blah crime stoppers
631. 26:48blah blah blah nothing burger blah blah
632. 26:49blah

634. 26:52blah blah hospital background checks uh
635. 26:55the commercial sales uh but republicans
636. 26:58oppose regulating private sales between
637. 27:00individuals as a house bill would do but
638. 27:02they say some support should have
639. 27:04tougher regulation at gun shows
