1. 0:00And I want to introduce you to Bethany
2. 0:03Hamilton, who's sitting right
3. 0:07here. Now, Bethany, of course, before
4. 0:11this uh accident, you were rated the
5. 0:15number one amateur woman surfer uh in
6. 0:19the islands. Is that correct? Yeah. And
7. 0:21but everything changed dramatically for
8. 0:23you because on October 31st, 2003,
9. 0:26you're out surfing. You're laying on
10. 0:28your board. And I know it's hard to go
11. 0:30back and revisit that day and tell the
12. 0:32story over and over again, but if you
13. 0:33wouldn't mind, just tell us what
14. 0:35happened. It's a real pretty morning. It
15. 0:37was like 7:30 around there, and we were
16. 0:41just surfing, having a pretty good time,
17. 0:43even though the waves weren't the
18. 0:45best. And um I was just laying on my
19. 0:49board waiting for a wave and a shark
20. 0:52just came up and attacked me. It was
21. 0:54only about like 3 seconds. I was just
22. 0:57like praying the whole time. And I don't
23. 1:01remember the exact words, but you were
24. 1:03praying. Yeah. And then when we got to
25. 1:06the shore, Hol tied a leash around my
26. 1:09arm to stop the blood. By then, I had
27. 1:12lost like 60%. So, I think it's pretty
28. 1:15much a miracle that I'm still here.
29. 1:18That's right.
30. 1:21In closing, Bethany, maybe to a young
31. 1:23person uh who is saying, "Well, I don't
32. 1:26really know if I want, you know, the
33. 1:28Lord running my life. I want to go out
34. 1:30and, you know, do all the things all the
35. 1:31other kids are doing." Why is it
36. 1:33important for them to follow Jesus
37. 1:35Christ, do you think? Um, well, I'd say
38. 1:39first of all, he has a lot more to offer
39. 1:43than the world. Amen.
