1. 0:00now you might remember the name Bethany
2. 0:01Hamilton if not let me share her story
3. 0:04with you and a bit of a recap she was
4. 0:06just 13 years old when a 4 meter tiger
5. 0:09shark bit off her arm while she was
6. 0:12surfing here on the coast but in the
7. 0:13ultimate display of never giving up she
8. 0:16was back on the board within a month 7
9. 0:18years later she continues to amaze as a
10. 0:21professional C Surfer on the world
11. 0:24circuit so there's no surprise that her
12. 0:26amazing story has been transferred onto
13. 0:28the big screen and and Bethany joins us
14. 0:30now good morning to you morning how do
15. 0:33you feel about a movie being made yeah
16. 0:35it's incredible um me and my family have
17. 0:38been working on it for like five six
18. 0:40years now and now that it's finally
19. 0:43happening it's just amazing and it's
20. 0:45turning out really good and yeah it's
21. 0:47exciting do you get a lot of input in
22. 0:48just sort of who plays you and how they
23. 0:50play you and how your story is told yeah
24. 0:52it's funny cuz um the girl that is
25. 0:54playing me an a Sophia Rob um actually
26. 0:56me and my mom had seen a movie of her
27. 0:59and we suggested her and she ended up
28. 1:01getting chosen so yeah it's exciting
29. 1:03they really um kept me and my family
30. 1:05involved in right the making of the
31. 1:08entire movie and um yeah so it's just
32. 1:10been such a blessing to be a part of it
33. 1:12and um a huge learning experience too
34. 1:15your story is amazing what you have done
35. 1:17since you were 13 and and the shark
36. 1:20attack is just incredible and I know
37. 1:21that Steph Gilmore was saying you're now
38. 1:23doing the big waves do you ever get
39. 1:25nervous or is that just so seven years
40. 1:27ago yeah I guess it's just my passion I
41. 1:29I just love being in the ocean and I
42. 1:32love um Big Surf and um yeah I just love
43. 1:35doing what I do cuz Mom and Dad are
44. 1:37Surfers your brothers are Surfers it's
45. 1:39so you were saying you've got salt water
46. 1:40in your veins yeah yeah kind of I mean
47. 1:43I'm born in Hawaii and I grew up surfing
48. 1:46and um yeah I'm just I feel at home in
49. 1:49the ocean one of the things that has
50. 1:51been amazing with your story is what
51. 1:53you've done since as far as talking to
52. 1:55to teenagers and to girls and and
53. 1:57inspiring them and tell us a little bit
54. 1:59about the message that you bring to them
55. 2:01and what you can say to young girls yeah
56. 2:03I guess since I was younger i' I just um
57. 2:06I've always believed in Jesus Christ and
58. 2:08he's just guided me through everything
59. 2:10that I do and I guess just when you're
60. 2:12giving to others and and bringing hope
61. 2:14to others is just really what life is
62. 2:16all about it's about loving other people
63. 2:18and and just I guess that's what I like
64. 2:21to do and um just through surfing and
65. 2:24everything that I do it's um just a part
66. 2:26of my life and dealing with your own
67. 2:28adversity cuz everybody has an issue
68. 2:30don't they they have yeah I mean we all
69. 2:32have our own different struggles in life
70. 2:34and we can all relate to each other in
71. 2:36one way or another and just like we're
72. 2:39here to encourage each other and um so
73. 2:41it's just been a real blessing and
74. 2:43disguise the shark attack losing my arm
75. 2:45and being able to like see all the good
76. 2:47things that has come out of it great way
77. 2:50to look at it now I know why you're such
78. 2:51a hero walking down across the sand here
79. 2:54down to the water's edge and everyone's
80. 2:55going Bethy Bethy can I have my photo so
81. 2:57you're wonderful it's so lovely to have
82. 2:58you join us this morning and we
